BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: We want to get to Iraq today. Another day of devastation, a powerful, deadly explosion in Baghdad. Forty- five are dead after another suicide bomb attack -- this time, outside an army recruiting center. This follows an attack also south of Baghdad from yesterday.
Our bureau chief, Jane Arraf, is on the scene there in Baghdad.
Jane -- hello.
JANE ARRAF, CNN BAGHDAD BUREAU CHIEF: Hello, Bill.
Most of the dead were young Iraqi men, who got up very early this morning to line up outside this building, which is the Baghdad headquarters of the New Iraqi Army. They were looking for jobs as soldiers.
According to U.S. officials, a suicide bomber in a white civilian vehicle detonated a massive car bomb, 300 to 500 pounds of explosives that shredded everything in its path.
As you said, this is the second blast in as many days. Yesterday, outside a police station south of Baghdad, these places, Iraqi army, security and Iraqi police increasingly becoming targets -- Bill.
HEMMER: Jane Arraf there on the scene in central Baghdad. We'll continue to follow this story.
