GRACE: That video from EFashion Police (ph) and IFC Films Stand-Up Comedy.
And tonight, do you have an iPhone, a cloud, a BlackBerry, an iPad, a PC, anything? Well, beware. A new wave of nude celebrity photos leaked on
line amid claims the graphic images may have been passed around on an on- line club for months, superstars like "The Hunger Games`" Jennifer Lawrence, "Sports Illustrated" cover model Kate Upton, "Spider-Man`s"
Kirsten Dunst, many, many more alleged graphic nude photos hacked and leaked.
Who`s the hacker? Why did he do it? And what else could he do? This is not just about nude photos. This is about the security of the iCloud
for all of us. Tonight, the hacker in hiding.

GRACE: And to Arizona. They meet on a work trip, but the flame burns out and break up. Only then she moves 300 miles to chase him, even
converting to Mormonism to get her man. Twenty-seven-year-old Jodi Arias has wild sex with 30-year-old lover Travis Alexander all day, even
photographing the sex. But just minutes after sex, she slashes his throat ear to ear, shoots and stabs him 29 times, leaves his body to rot in his
own shower.
Tonight, as Jodi Arias`s retrial set to commence, she fires her lawyers, announcing she`ll represent herself. As we go to air, we learn
our hard-earned tax dollars spent by Jodi Arias to rifle through murder victim Travis Alexander`s home. The people living there -- I bet they`re
not happy!
In the last hours, Arias back in court as the prosecution demands sanctions against Jodi Arias.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: An investigator for Jodi Arias will be able to return to the scene of her crime.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Did you kill Travis Alexander?
ARIAS: Yes.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
GRACE: Good evening. I`m Nancy Grace. I want to thank you for being with us.
Bombshell tonight. Prayers go up for world famous comedienne Joan Rivers. At this hour, Joan Rivers still in a medically induced coma on
life support after botched throat surgery. Despite earlier claims by friends that the comic is, quote, "on the road to recovery," her daughter
Melissa tonight reveals her mother, Joan Rivers, a beloved icon, is still on life support.
Straight out to Rob Shuter, Rob joining us from Gossip Table. What do you know?
ROB SHUTER, NAUGHTYBUTNICEROB.COM: We know that Melissa`s family are absolutely furious about what has happened to Joan Rivers. She was in New
York City. She did a show. She had dinner with a friend. She walked home to her apartment. And the next morning...
GRACE: So Rob, you`re saying she had a stand-up comedy show the night before the surgery and walked home on her own?
SHUTER: Exactly. A friend actually went to dinner with her and escorted her home that night. And the friend has gone on record saying
Joan was making jokes about this minor procedure she was having in the morning.
GRACE: You know, Michael Christian, it`s my understanding that what the surgery was, was she had noticed that her voice was getting raspy over
time, and they were going to do a very simple endoscopy where you put a camera or you put a device down the person`s throat and you look around.
It`s exploratory, I guess. And you see if there`s any nodes or anything that`s bothering the voice box. It`s very simple, right, Michael?
MICHAEL CHRISTIAN, NANCY GRACE PRODUCER (via telephone): That`s absolutely correct, Nancy. It`s basically an examination of your vocal
cords. However, apparently, whenever this is done, there`s always a risk of some sort of spasm happening in the patient`s airway, and this could
lead to respiratory and/or cardiac arrest. And that is apparently what happened to Joan Rivers.
GRACE: Right now, the family mulling a lawsuit over this botched throat surgery, which is supposed to be a routine procedure.
To the lines. Dean in New York. Hi, Dean. What`s your question?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I`m here. (INAUDIBLE) I`m here. I`m just wondering, whenever you go into a hospital to have any kind of medical
procedure, you have to sign a waiver. I was just wondering how much of an impact this will have on the potential of any lawsuit.
GRACE: You know, that`s an excellent question. Unleash the lawyers, Alex Sanchez, New York, Kirby Clements, Atlanta. Alex Sanchez, those
waivers are not worth the money to buy the paper they`re written on. That`s how little they mean in court because you can`t sign away your right
not to be in a medically induced coma, all right? So it`s ridiculous.
ALEX SANCHEZ, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Otherwise, those -- the medical clinics would have an incentive to put everything in there that could...
GRACE: Exactly.
SANCHEZ: ... possibly protect their interests. So you know, you`re absolutely right. They can`t, you know, engage in gross behavior...
GRACE: Right. And Kirby...
SANCHEZ: ... as a professional and then escape responsibility.
GRACE: ... there would never be a malpractice suit if those waivers meant anything. And also, you sign those waivers even when you go roller
skating. It`s on your ticket, We`re not responsible if you crack your skull open. It doesn`t mean a thing.
KIRBY CLEMENTS, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Well, you`re not waiving negligence. In other words, they`re just letting you know that it`s
informed consent, that you have the right to know what the possible risks are.
GRACE: I waive blah, blah, blah, blah. OK, you say tomato, I say tomahtoe. And they don`t mean a hill of beans.
For those of you just joining us, icon comedienne Joan Rivers remains in a medically induced coma. I can hardly even stand to look over at her
and see her eyes looking out at us, knowing what she is going through tonight. Please join us as prayers go up for Joan Rivers to come out of
the coma.
Joining me right now, Dr. Panchali Dhar, board-certified anesthesiologist and author of "Before the Scalpel: What Everyone Needs to
Know About Anesthesia." Doctor Panchali Dhar, thank you for being with us. Please explain to us what happened.
DR. PANCHALI DHAR, ANESTHESIOLOGIST: Joan -- I don`t think she was having vocal cord surgery. From the Web site of Yorkville, it looks like
it`s a gastroenterology surgi (ph) center where they were probably doing what`s called an upper endoscopy.
GRACE: Hold on, Dr. Panchali. Liz -- yes, that`s what I wanted to see. Hold that. Go ahead, Doctor.
DHAR: OK. So that scope is put down through the mouth, down the esophagus, which is your pipe down to your stomach to look at the stomach
and up the esophagus. Now, when that scope is put down, that has to be done under some sort of sedation, either mild sedation or heavy sedation.
And oftentimes, a lot of people cough and gag on the scope. It`s not easy. It`s the size of a garden hose, and it`s going down your throat. So
oftentimes, what happens is patients can cough and gag...
(CROSSTALK)
GRACE: Dr. Dhar, you`re under when that happens.
DHAR: Not necessarily completely under. You`re in some light twilight sedation. So under twilight, if you`re on a little bit of
twilight, you can cough and gag and choke on it. And the anesthesiologist or the nurse can give you...
(CROSSTALK)
GRACE: ... shouldn`t bring on a heart attack...
DHAR: No, no, no.
GRACE: ... and you shouldn`t go for several minutes without oxygen to your brain...
DHAR: That`s not what happened.
GRACE: ... which is what they`re saying. OK, good.
DHAR: That`s not what happened.
GRACE: Take it down and give it to me in a nutshell what happened.
DHAR: OK. So either she was lightly sedated and she was coughing and gagging and her vocal cords closed, or she was too deeply sedated and her
oxygen level went down and she had a cardiac arrest. If she was lightly sedated, it`s possible the vocal cords can close, and someone who is...
GRACE: Well, they said cardiac arrest.
DHAR: OK. So the vocal cords close. They can`t be opened up. The oxygen level goes down. Oxygen level is down to zero. Cardiac arrest
occurs. This is what happened in one scenario.
The other scenario she`s too heavily sedated. Oxygen level goes down. She`s under cardiac arrest. She has to be resuscitated. In some
situations, the endoscopy is done under full general anesthesia, where the patient is intubated from the get-go outright. That also is a way of -- so
that`s...
(CROSSTALK)
GRACE: ... the two alternatives.
Yes.
GRACE: Three (ph). Dr. Panchali Dhar with us. All I know is -- you know, I heard all that, but what I know is that Joan Rivers says she went
in for a throat procedure, not even a real surgery. It was endoscopic. And she had a heart attack and she`s on life support, all right? They`re
afraid to unhook the life support.
So I`m not really quite sure what all that explanation was. I mean, I`m just a lawyer. But what I know is this. You don`t sign away your
rights to have a heart attack and for your brain to possibly be deprived of oxygen during a routine procedure.
With me right now, Chloe Melas from "Hollywood Reporter." (ph) Chloe, what more do you know?
CHLOE MELAS, HOLLYWOODLIFE.COM (via telephone): Well, listen, I mean, her family is staying very quiet about all of this, especially her
immediate family. They`re being told not to speak to the press at all. The only person speaking right now is Melissa Rivers, who is doing
everything she can to let everyone know or think that her mother is doing just fine.
She just released a statement not too long ago today that said that her mother does remain on life support, that, you know, they have their
fingers crossed and that her mother would be overwhelmed by the continued support and kindness.
But the bottom line is, everybody wants to know what is going on? Why haven`t they had a press conference? Why haven`t they given answers to
everybody who wants to know what happened to her? How long did she not have oxygen for? Is she going to be on life support until they decide to
take her off of life support? These are all questions that we all want to know.
But E and Ken Baker from E again has been one of the mouthpieces for the family, and they`re trying to ease (ph) everyone as we go into Fashion
Week and let everyone think that Joan is going to be OK. But if you are still on life support...
GRACE: You know what?
(CROSSTALK)
GRACE: I don`t really give a flying fig about Fashion Week, all right? I don`t even want to hear Fashion Week while Joan Rivers is laying
up, I think in Mount Sinai, in a medically-induced coma. Fashion Week can go jump off a cliff, for all I care. What I want to find out is how Joan
Rivers is doing. At this hour, we are understanding -- with me, Hollywoodlife`s Chloe Melas.
Chloe, is it true they`re mulling a lawsuit?
MELAS: Well, Melissa -- sources close to her say that that is absolutely not true. But then other sources are saying that that is
exactly what she is trying to do.
Listen, Nancy, there are no answers right now. And it`s very fishy as to why nobody has given any sort of statement that answers any questions.
She is still in a medically induced coma, being brought out of it as of today. That`s the last that we heard about it. And Melissa is releasing
statements that say, like, Fingers crossed, or you know, My mother would be very happy. But it`s not answering any questions.
And all we know is that Joan is sitting in a hospital somewhere, and nobody knows what`s happened to her. So they`re trying to remain upbeat,
but people are saying that maybe Joan Rivers would not want her daughter to be giving these kinds of statements and acting so kind of blase about it
and give more answers.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
RIVERS: Who invited Fran Drescher? (INAUDIBLE) cheesy, wheezy and stunning and -- and she`s so young. I asked her why this slutty, crappy
outfit. She said it`s based on a nursery rhyme. Catch a tiger by the camel toe, if it hollers, let it go. She (INAUDIBLE) specifically because
she wanted to be noticed as -- this is as subtle as a tabasco (INAUDIBLE) screaming at her, You can`t wear dead animals. And that I want to stand by
(INAUDIBLE) I`m sorry. Yes, you have to wear dead animals because I tried, and live ones bite. You must wear dead animals!
(END VIDEO CLIP)
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
RIVERS: (INAUDIBLE) I don`t like certain audiences. I hate old people!
(LAUGHTER)
RIVERS: I -- oh, if you are (EXPLETIVE DELETED) old, get up and get out of here right now!
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
RIVERS: Right now! Well, you`re on, Ms. Rivers. Well, I don`t see me. If you`re old, screw you!
(LAUGHTER)
RIVERS: You have to look, not me. If you`re old, start now. By the time you get out, you`ll have heard two thirds of the act. It`s -- oh, do
you like old people? I mean, they`re proud? Proud? I`m 97 years old! And you smell! I hate you!
(LAUGHTER)
RIVERS: And old people -- old people that buy at Costco...
(LAUGHTER)
RIVERS: Am I wrong? Why are you buying at Costco? Why -- you`re 93 years old, why are you buying 18 large jars of mayonnaise?
(CROSSTALK)
RIVERS: You`re not even going to make it to the god-damn checkout counter, you old (INAUDIBLE)!
(END VIDEO CLIP)
GRACE: That video from Stand-Up Comedy from IFC Films.
Tonight, prayers go up -- please join us as we send them up ourselves for Joan Rivers and her daughter, Melissa, Joan at this hour on life
support after she has a botched throat surgery, a routine procedure, and it all goes sideways.
The difference between a medically induced coma versus life support -- what is that? Is that the same thing? And Kirby, you brought up a great
question. Did the doctors -- to you, Brett Larson, investigative reporter. I mean, the doctors were right there. Didn`t they notice she wasn`t
breathing?
BRETT LARSON, INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER: You know, Nancy, they were right there and they did think fast enough to get her out of that clinic
and get her to the hospital, where she could get this very needed emergency care that she will, hopefully, recover from and be back out there on stage
making us all laugh instead of sitting here worrying about her.
GRACE: Back to Dr. Panchali Dhar, board-certified anesthesiologist and author of "Before the Scalpel." Dr. Dhar, what`s the difference
between a medically induced coma and life support?
DHAR: Well, the point is, she`s kept under deep sedation now. And the life support means she`s on a ventilator and they`re giving her
medication possibly to support her blood pressure. So the coma -- I tell you they`re using what`s called propofol, the famous drug propofol, to keep
her out and in total control of her breathing, heart rate, blood pressure. And the life support are these various medications they`re using to
maintain her blood pressure, heart rate, and the breathing tube is (INAUDIBLE) connected to a ventilator.
GRACE: Out to the lines. Donna in Florida. Hi, Donna. What`s your question?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Hi, Nancy. Did she have any pre-testing?
GRACE: Pre-testing. Rob Shuter from The Gossip Table, I don`t know about pre-testing. I mean, she`s made no secret of the fact, Rob, that
she`s had multiple plastic surgeries. That`s not a secret.
SHUTER: Right.
GRACE: But this one at 81, Rob, is smarter than I can tell you, a whole room full of lawyers at 25. I mean, her wit is as sharp as a sword.
SHUTER: You better believe it. I saw her four or five months ago, and she was sharp. She was together. This is a lady that certainly knows
what she`s doing. She`s been telling her friends, including me, for about a year that she`s had a terribly raspy throat. And she was making jokes
about it and saying, Oh, it`s a big lot of nothing, but she had to deal with it.
She was so certain this would be so minor that the day after the surgery, she had a concert in New Jersey. So she planned to be back up on
stage the next day. So she certainly didn`t think there`d be any big, big crisis going on or any big difficulty with the surgery.
GRACE: You know, Dr. Dhar, is there any way that she can go through this and come out unscathed? Is it possible for her to come out of this
medically induced coma, even if her brain had been deprived of oxygen for a period of minutes, and be her old self? Is it possible?
DHAR: It is possible. But of course, at the very age that she is and to take a hit like that, the recovery is going to be long and drawn-out. I
would imagine she`d need a very long time of rehab and physical therapy to get over this. And the medically induced coma -- they`ll just turn off the
medications and wake her up slowly, allow her to respond.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
RIVERS: The legs go on and on and on and on. Like, Gwyneth Paltrow, when someone asked her about kale -- so that dress has more creases than my
face did before botox. It looks like it`s going to split at any minute, like Beyonce and Jay-Z. I`m scared.
I drew an upside-down glass because I have not seen cups (ph) this empty since I did shots with Tina Lohan (ph).
She was sweating more than Dean McDermott (ph) watching Tori Spelling going through his phone.
I think what she was trying to say in this outfit, she loves America because her hair and makeup were obviously inspired by Mary Todd Lincoln.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
GRACE: That video from E`s "Fashion Police." Tonight, our prayers for Joan Rivers.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
GRACE: Do you have an iPhone? Do you know about the cloud? Do you have a BlackBerry, an iPad, a PC, anything? Well, beware. A new wave of
nude celebrity photos leaked on line amid claims the graphic images may have been passed around on an on-line club for months. Superstars like
"Hunger Games`" Jennifer Lawrence, "Sports Illustrated" cover model Kate Upton, "Spider-Man`s" Kirsten Dunst, many, many more alleged graphic nude
photos hacked and leaked. Tonight, the hacker in hiding.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Hollywood up in arms after what could be a massive hacking attack.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: A long list of celebrities who had their nude pictures leaked all over the Web.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton are among the celebs who were targeted.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
GRACE: Straight out to Kim Serafin, senior editor, "In Touch Weekly." Kim, let me just start this. Let me just give the frame for this picture.
Why would you take nude photos of yourself anyway?
KIM SERAFIN, "IN TOUCH WEEKLY": Well, you know, I don`t know. You`d have to ask some of these celebrities who have been involved. But again,
this is hacked into their private personal on-line account.
GRACE: I mean, Kim, have you ever lost your iPhone? I lost mine in New York, and I could watch it going around and a round the city in a cab.
And then suddenly, it disappeared. It went off. I mean, the fact that they are taking these photos and they`re in the cloud -- I mean, they are
so -- I wouldn`t want, like, for instance, pictures of my children -- I wouldn`t want them out willy-nilly. I don`t want that.
So OK, forget about why would anybody take a picture of their body parts. Let`s move on to what happened, Kim.
SERAFIN: Well, a lot of these celebrities -- their photos, these risque` nude photos, started showing up on sites over the weekend. And it
looks like they are allegedly, like you said, hacked from their on-line accounts. Whether it was their actual phones being taken, or it looks like
through their on-line accounts, possibly through the iCloud account -- that`s what everyone`s been talking about.
And then there were some celebrities that responded to it. Jennifer Lawrence -- her rep put out a statement saying, "This is a violation of
privacy. We`re going to prosecute anyone who publishes these photos." Same thing with Kate Upton. Her rep put out a statement. There were other
celebrities who actually said the photos were fake, like Victoria Justice said the photos were fake, Ariana Grande. Mary Elizabeth Winstead
confirmed the photos, but said these had been actually deleted from her account years ago. So it`s interesting. If these hackers were actually
working on this for a long time or even gained access to some of these photos that were actually deleted.
GRACE: The reality is, Kim Serafin, now the FBI has been brought into this, because it`s a huge concern. Yes, it`s bad enough that these naked
photos of these lady celebrities have been hacked and they`re apparently passed around in a private online club. Now, that`s some club, that are
looking at naked photos of these stars. I`m talking about Kirsten Dunst, Jennifer Lawrence from "The Hunger Games," the supermodel on the front of
Sports Illustrated, Kate Upton, and more. These stars hacked. And now there are nude photos floating all over. When you bring in the FBI, Kim
Serafin, that`s serious.
SERAFIN: It`s very serious. We know this actually happened before with some celebrities. There was the case with Scarlett Johansson, Mila
Kunis and Christina Aguilera. Their accounts had been hacked. The FBI, the authorities got involved, and the person that was responsible for this
was actually sentenced to prison for about ten years two years ago. This is not the first time we`ve seen this happen. We know they can actually be
very serious about finding the people who are hacking these accounts.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Nude photos of several Hollywood A-listers. Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence and supermodel Kate Upton were among the
celebrities who had their private photos released online.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: A publicist for Lawrence confirmed the photo`s authenticity. Oscar-winning actress plans to seek legal action.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
GRACE: I`m going to get to the actual hacking, how you break into the iCloud to hack people`s nude photos. Okay, you know what? I`m just trying
to raise my children and work. How do you have time to sit around and figure out how to break into the iCloud? Okay. That`s a whole another
mentality right there. But to Greg Cason, psychologist and former star of Bravo`s "L.A. Shrinks," Greg, here`s another question. An online club? A
private club? That gets these photos of these celebrities and looks at them? Creepy!
CASON: Well, we may think it`s creepy. But you know, celebrities of today are no different than the popular people of high school. So these
are the people that people look at and think, hey, I want to know that person, know all about that person. And since they themselves can`t have
access to the person, they try to do an end run to try to see if they can find photos, information, something that could put them personally in touch
with them.
GRACE: To Clark Goldband, what more do we know?
GOLDBAND: Nancy, as you just said, the FBI has confirmed to CNN that they are in fact investigating. But the point you just raised, Nancy, not
all people are celebrating the release of these nude photos. There are reports there`s a backlash online. And sites are not only taking down the
pictures, but banning users who are using them. Now, part of that may be because the legal representatives for two of the largest stars that have
been reportedly abused in this situation, they are saying of Kate Upton and Jennifer Lawrence, they will prosecute. And they want anyone caught
distributing these pictures to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, Nancy. Now, there are many more people that have possibly been
compromised. We`ve not been able to confirm those stars. But you can imagine if this list continues to grow, we may see some big prosecutions
here, Nancy.
GRACE: To Ben Levitan, telecommunications expert, Ben, how do you go about hacking into the iCloud?
LEVITAN: Nancy, this is not a highly sophisticated group of Russian hackers. This is actually fairly low-tech hacking. Now, you know to get
on any of your accounts, your iCloud account or any account, all you need is your e-mail and your password. And the fact is, there is two ways it
appears this was done. No. 1, somebody got a list of the e-mails of these celebrities. Once you did that, they had half the key to the vault there.
Next thing they had to do is just figure out what those people`s passwords were. And Nancy, it`s very well-known in Internet security that most
people -- there`s a list out there of 500 passwords that about 20 percent of people use. So basically if I know your e-mail and I can run through
those 500 passwords, I`ve got about a 1 in 5 chance of guessing your password and I`m in on your account.
GRACE: Wait a minute, Ben Levitan, it`s hard for me to believe that everybody can be figured out that easily. What do you mean there`s like
500 passwords that most people use?
LEVITAN: Well, several Internet security experts have done a study on what do people use for their password. And they`ve come up with a list.
And this goes back about ten years now. They`ve come up with a list of about 500 passwords that are the most common passwords. Things like 1, 2,
3, 4, 5. The word password itself. The word Mustang, the word Porsche, these are on the list of the most common passwords that people use. So if
you have a list of 1,000 celebrities and you just try those 500 most common passwords, you`re going to get about 20 percent. You`re going to break
into about 20 percent of those accounts, Nancy. It`s that easy.
GRACE: Whoa, whoa, back it up. You mean a lot of people use 1, 2, 3, 4, 5?
LEVITAN: Yes, exactly. You`re going have to change your password.
GRACE: Uh, oh.
LEVITAN: A lot of people use the word password. If you look at the list, you`ll laugh. Because I`m sure all of us are creatures of habits.
We`ve got so many online web sites.
GRACE: How do we find the hacker? That`s my next question. What a bunch of pervs. I can just see a bunch of old guys sitting around looking
at nude photos of these ladies with their wives or boyfriends. Ew! Yuk! How do we find them?
LEVITAN: It`s very creepy.
(CROSSTALK)
LEVITAN: This is going to be fairly easy also to catch these people. Because you know that every time you connect to another computer, when two
computers exchange information, what a cloud is, you`re connecting to another computer. You ask it for information. It needs to know what your
--
GRACE: Wait a minute, Ben. Let`s just kick it off with, I refer to the hacker as he. And immediately people go how do you know it was a he?
But according to Clark Goldband, not one man has been hacked that we know of. It`s all women. So yes, it`s one pervytude. OK? So go ahead.
LEVITAN: It`s got to be really easy to catch this guy. Because when you connect to a computer, you give it your address because you want
information sent back to you. Your return address for your computer. And we`ve talked about, Nancy, that`s called the I.P. address. So the I.P.
address, wherever this information was sent back, whoever accessed these accounts, their I.P. address is known. It`s just a matter of law
enforcement that I.P. address is significant geographically. It will determine the general location where those people are located. And then
they`ll be able to get to a specific computer and a specific creepy old guy. And they`ll be able to catch him.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
GRACE: Tonight as we go to air, we learn our hard-earned tax dollars have been spent by Jodi Arias to visit and rifle through her murder victim
Travis Alexander`s home. I bet the people living there now are not too happy. Well, in the last hours, Arias back in court as the prosecution
demands sanctions against Jodi Arias.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Arias will represent herself. She wants her new investigator to see the scene of the crime.
JODI ARIAS: I didn`t even think I was pulling the trigger.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
GRACE: Okay. Valerie Paraso joining me from KFYI. Valerie, are you telling me that the judge actually allowed -- all this money that Jodi
Arias is spending on her retrial for sentencing phase for killing Travis Alexander? Let`s see, 29 gunshot wounds -- excuse me, 29 stab wounds,
gunshot wound, and sliced from ear to ear right after sex. My tax dollars are going so she can go back to Travis`s home and rifle through it? Her
team?
VALERIE PARASO, REPORTER, 550 KFYI RADIO: Well, absolutely. And that`s what the judge granted since she is representing herself. Her
investigator sometime this week is going to be allowed back into that home that Travis Alexander lived in when he was killed in 2008.
GRACE: You know, Valerie, the judge has just released the documents. I think that the team has already gone to Travis`s home and gone through
it. And they didn`t want anybody to know about it. Because there would be a huge outcry, the press would be there. Citizens would be there. Our tax
dollars being spent so Jodi Arias` team can rifle through Travis Alexander`s home. Whoa! Not only that, apparently the prosecution is
demanding sanctions against Jodi Arias. What`s that about, Valerie?
PARASO: Well, the sanctions were filed by prosecutor Juan Martinez because Jodi Arias, since she is representing herself, had not handed over
the names of witnesses that she was planning to call in her defense or their names or addresses. So he needs that as a prosecutor. So that`s
what the court -- she was in court today. That`s what that was about.
GRACE: Let`s see shots of Arias in court. For those of you just joining us, let`s see that video of Jodi Arias in court. Jodi Arias back
in court. She is spending all the money from our tax dollars so she can rifle through Travis Alexander`s home, the murder scene where she killed
him, stabbing him 29 times and leaving his naked body in the shower stall right there.
Dave Hall is with me, close friend of Travis Alexander, also knows Jodi Arias. Arias in court just before we go to air tonight. Dave Hall,
how do you think Travis Alexander would feel about Jodi Arias` team rifling through his place, his home?
DAVE HALL, FRIEND OF TRAVIS ALEXANDER: Well, I`m sure he would be upset, just like his family and the new current owner of that home is.
It`s a complete waste of time and resources. There`s obviously nothing they are going to find six years later that the CSI team didn`t find when
they went through there with a magnifying glass, tweezers and cotton swabs checking for evidence the first time.
GRACE: Out to the lines. Lisa. Hi, Lisa, what`s your question?
CALLER: Hi, Nancy. Of course, I definitely do not like this story, but unfortunately it is here. And my quick comment and question is that
I`m surprised she is allowed to go back into the crime scene, because she made it. And my question is that, do you think she enjoys it?
GRACE: You know, I really do. I do. Unleash the lawyers, Alex Sanchez and Kirby Clements. Hi. Kirby Clements, I recall before you
became a defense lawyer, you were a felony prosecutor along with me. And we would go out at all hours of the day and night with what they then had
as a Polaroid. Remember those? The county issued Polaroids?
CLEMENTS: Oh, yes.
GRACE: And take crime scene photos. But to use the taxpayers` dollars, this much later, after the defense has already gone to the scene
already, to go see the scene again, I think she is getting some weird thrill about her team being back in Travis Alexander`s home. That`s
freaky.
CLEMENTS: I disagree. I think, No. 1, she is entitled to do it. That`s her right. No. 2, this whole mess--
GRACE: Where is it in the Constitution you can spend my money, I work two jobs so Jodi Arias can have sex all day, then kill her lover, then
spend my money to take pictures of the crime scene?
CLEMENTS: Murder is not in the Constitution, but the right to defend yourself is in the Constitution, and this would all end if the prosecutor
would drop this effort to get the death penalty and just let her take life in prison.
GRACE: I don`t know how you got from A to Z without the other characters in between. Okay, Alex Sanchez, instead of attacking the
decision to retry her on the sentencing phase, why is she doing this other than the weird thrill she gets?
SANCHEZ: I don`t think you recognize how brilliant Jodi Arias is by agreeing to represent herself. Because she is getting the judge to allow
her to do things that a lawyer would never be allowed do. That judge is bending over backwards and allowing an investigator to go to that house.
Whereas if she had a lawyer that made that request, the lawyer would never be granted that request by the judge. The judge is bending over backwards
and the judge is also going to bend over backwards when it comes to sanctioning Jodi Arias. How are you going to sanction Jodi Arias? What
are you going to do, put her in jail for 30 days?
GRACE: Jodi Arias will do anything to get attention on her. This not about who killed Travis Alexander or justice. Here is Jodi Arias when she
wins the American Idol behind bars.
(MUSIC)
GRACE: I`ll never get over this. Okay. Please keep it rolling.
Kirby Clements, are you telling me this woman won`t do anything for attention? And she is get something weird kick out of knowing her team is
rifling through the bedroom where she had sex with him all day before slitting his throat.
CLEMENTS: You know, Travis had sex with her too. I`m not defending the murder. But the fact of the matter is, she is brilliant. She is doing
a great job. She is in jail. People in jail have lives. She is entitled to sing. They relate to each other. That`s life.
(MUSIC)
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
GRACE: Okay, Kirby Clements, I think you were trying to say something about, that`s life. Put him up, please. Because I`ve never experienced,
you know, maybe you have, have you had sex with somebody all day long where she took pictures of it, and then she tried to slit your throat from ear to
ear?
CLEMENTS: Not that I recall.
GRACE: And then followed up to sing "oh, night divine" to win American Idol behind bars? What are you laughing at, Sanchez?
CLEMENTS: Life in prison is what I`m suggesting to you, Nancy, life in prison.
GRACE: What about it, Sanchez?
SANCHEZ: I think if Kirby Clements endured that experience and somebody tried to knife him, I think he would remember.
GRACE: Matt Zarrell, isn`t it true, that although Jodi Arias (inaudible) want it, we might see her on camera during the trial?
ZARRELL: Yes. In fact, the media down there has requested to be able to show video of the trial 30 minutes after court adjourns every day. The
judge is considering the motion.
GRACE: Okay. Let`s stop about Jodi Arias and remember American hero, Army Sergeant First Class, Rocky Herrera, 43, Salt Lake City. Bronze Star,
Purple Heart. Loved boxing, camping, wood work. Mother Elaine, brother Angelo, sister Gerri. Widow, Tracy. Four children. Rocky Herrera,
American hero.
And tonight, happy birthday to a special friend of the show, Joni. She loves exercising, singing in her church choir, and gardening. Isn`t
she beautiful? Happy birthday, dear Joni. Drew up next. I`ll see you tomorrow night, 8:00 sharp Eastern. And until then, good night, friend.
