THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

A.J. HAMMER, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT ANCHOR: The dramatic frightening tapes of Nicole Richie just minutes before she was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.
BROOKE ANDERSON, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT ANCHOR: And the 2006 stinky diaper awards. The absolutely awful things celebrity parents have done this year. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood. TV`s most provocative entertainment news show starts right now.

HAMMER: On SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, for the first time ever, Angelina Jolie reveals how she and Brad Pitt met and fell in love. Her response to claims she broke up Brad`s marriage to Jennifer Aniston and the intimate and very personal details of her relationship with Brad. Tonight, the explosive interview. It`s Angelina Jolie unplugged.

Lindsay`s liquor shocker. Tonight Lindsay Lohan`s startling revelations about her battle with booze, the dramatic steps she is taking to ditch the drinking, well, at least some of it. Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on Lindsay`s revelations and whether she really is a pooped-out party girl.

Hello, I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

ANDERSON: Hi there, everyone. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood. We`ve got the 911 tapes for the night Nicole Richie went on a wild ride that got her arrested. And we`re going to play them for you in just a moment.

HAMMER: But first tonight, it`s Angelina Jolie unplugged. For the very first time, she is opening up about what really happened when Brad left his wife, Jennifer Aniston, for Jolie and created a firestorm of fascination that still hasn`t cooled down. Tonight, did Brad cheat on Jennifer with Angelina? And are they in fact getting married? Just two of the many questions that Angelina Jolie is finally answering.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: The scene, premiere for Angelina Jolie`s new film, "The Good Shepherd," the press going crazy for Brangelina. And SHOWBIZ TONIGHT was there when, for the first time, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt walked down a red carpet together as a couple. This just as Angelina`s revealing interview about their relationship was about to make headlines worldwide.

It`s the relationship the world has been fascinated with. And now, in the January issue of "Vogue Magazine," Angelina Jolie reveals the most intimate details about how she and Brad Pitt fell in love, when her adopted son Maddox called Brad dad for the very first time, and the couple`s penchant for, get this, cheap motels and fast food. It`s the fairy tale romance the world has been waiting to hear about.

PATRICK HUGUENIN, "NEW YORK DAILY NEWS": The Brad and Angelina romance is a fairy tale Hollywood romance, basically because they met on the set of a movie, they love to travel together, and they are going all over the world to do good.

HAMMER: In the interview, Jolie reveals her first time meeting Pitt an the set of their film, "Mr. And Mrs. Smith," saying, quote, I, like most people, had a very distant impression of him from the media. Jolie says, being a single mom to adopted son Maddox made her content with life. So getting into another relationship was the furthest thing from her mind. But Jolie fell hard and fast for Pitt, saying, quote, I think a few months in I realized, god, I can`t wait to get to work.

HUGUENIN: She said in this article that she thinks that she encountered Brad at a time where his relationship was up in the air, and that neither of them was really looking for a romance at that time, but then it happened.

HAMMER: Despite the strong attacks to Pitt, she said she knew Pitt was in a relationship with his, quote, best friend. The best friend, his former wife, Jennifer Aniston.

HUGUENIN: The breakup of Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt took a lot of people by surprise, because they were a Hollywood golden couple, and one that people could really relate to.

HAMMER: Jolie says she and Pitt found lots of common ground while working together on "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," though Jolie never reveals if the pair were indeed intimate while he was still married, saying, quote, we just became kind of a pair, and it took until really the end of the shoot for us, I think, to realize that it might mean something more than we had earlier allowed ourselves to believe. And both knowing that the reality of that was a big thing, something that was going to take a lot of serious consideration.

HUGUENIN: When Maddox called Brad dad without any prompting, that was a moment for them that really defined their relationship as one that was here to stay.

HAMMER: Another defining moment, the moment she realized she was pregnant with Brad Pitt`s baby. I hadn`t eaten for three hours. We were doing a Christmas scene, sitting around this piano singing songs, when the world just went completely black in front of me and I nearly threw up. It was like, cut. And then I had to say, Bob, I think I might be pregnant. And he was great. He went and got me a banana.

KATIE CAPERTON, "OK! MAGAZINE": When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced to the world that they were having a baby, it cemented the fact for the public that they were indeed a couple, because up until that point, they hadn`t acknowledged that they were actually together.

HAMMER: The two take family very, very seriously, even though marriage isn`t in their plans. Jolie says, quote, we have both been married before, so it`s not marriage that`s necessarily kept some people together. We are legally bound to our children, not to each other, and I think that`s the most important thing.

But the couple`s seemingly cavalier attitude toward marriage has some people up in arms. On ABC`s chatfest the "View" this morning, the host Elizabeth Hasselbeck said she finds their ideas about marriage worrisome.

ELIZABETH HASSELBECK, "THE VIEW": It just made me worried because I keep hearing quotes like this that say, you know, who needs marriage. Marriage doesn`t define us. We`re legally bound to our children. I think it sort of, to me, felt like it was undermining the fact that children find a lot of security in adults getting married.

HAMMER: And never known to mince her words, co-host Joy Behar said, sometimes a family man should be left alone.

JOY BEHAR, "THE VIEW": Sometimes there is another woman in there, who, you know, remember that song from Hall and Oats, leave him alone, he`s a family man. It`s like, sometimes, you know, you should leave a guy alone. He is married. Leave him alone.

HAMMER: Well, Joy, it looks like that traditional way of thinking doesn`t apply to the very untraditional family, the Pitt-Jolie clan.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: The paparazzi mayhem when Brad and Angelina walked together at the premier last night is nothing compared to what happens when they take their kids out in public. Angelina is very protective of her family, and when I spent some time with her over this past weekend, she told me that there is absolutely no reason to ever get right in the face of a young child. She finds it completely unacceptable.

You will be able to catch my revealing one-on-one interview with Angelina Jolie next Monday, right here on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

ANDERSON: And now we want to hear from you. It is our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. Brad and Angelina, do you admire them as a couple? vote at CNN.com/SHOWBIZTONIGHT. Send us an e-mail. HAMMER: Now tonight we have the shocking and scary 911 tapes that show just how out of control Nicole Richie was moments before her arrest for driving under the influence. Richie was arrested early Monday morning in her car. She was sitting in a carpool lane in Los Angeles, and the police say that she admitted to smoking marijuana and taking Vicodin.

Joining me tonight from Court TV headquarters in New York, Court TV news anchor Ashleigh Banfield. Good to see you Ashleigh.

ASHLEIGH BANFIELD, COURT TV NEWS: Hi A.J.

HAMMER: Hi there. It`s always fascinating for me to hear these 911 tapes. I think everybody can agree on that. These particular tapes are unbelievable. We`ll listen to the witness, who called 911, and actually thought that Nicole Richie was a man. Didn`t know, obviously, it was Nicole Richie. And this person clearly shocked that he observed somebody driving on the wrong side of the road. Let`s listen to this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: 911 emergency.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, if you`re heading on the 134 West, there was a car coming on the off ram, driving the opposite direction of traffic, and he was basically entering on the exit.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The party is now traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes. I don`t know if he kept going, but, I mean, I saw him coming up the off ramp. And I was like, you got to be kidding me. I thought maybe it was a cop, but it was just a normal SUV.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: OK, we`ll get somebody.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: You`ve got to imagine Nicole has to have been pretty out of it to be driving completely the wrong way. How much trouble can Nicole be in here, Ashleigh?

BANFIELD: She could be in quite a fair bit of trouble and it really all stems back to that 2003 arrest for heroin possession. Because if she has any kind of probation that`s left from that, well, this one could wreak a little bit of havoc with that last incident.

HAMMER: Well, obviously, her lawyer is heavily involved at this point, and SHOWBIZ TONIGHT reached out to Howard Weitzman, that`s Nicole`s lawyer in this case. Here`s what he told us. He said, "this is a difficult time for Nicole, but she is prepared to accept whatever responsibility is appropriate. She intends to continue with her career and will deal with any other issues that need to be addressed." I mean, clearly, a big mess here for Nicole. She is supposed to do a new season of "The Simple Life" with Paris Hilton. She has some other projects that she is working on at this moment. Is it such a legal mess that she may actually have to put all of this aside to deal with it, or are we just really talking about a court appearance, at least initially?

BANFIELD: I don`t know. The first thing I thought of, A.J., was ask Mel Gibson. I mean look, we were talking about him a little while ago, with not just a DUI arrest, but all sorts of controversial comments about Jews that he made, and he is number one at the box office. So, whether it actually affects her career in a negative way, or in an extraordinarily positive way, is yet to be seen. But, you know, things are different these days. Celebrities are making lots of money off of doing naughty things.

HAMMER: I would be pretty panicked if it helps her career in any extraordinary way. We`re looking at video of Nicole in a happier time right now, but I want to take a look at some shots taken from a roof top surveillance camera. See, this is the problem for celebrities. The cameras are everywhere, and now these images, which we`re going to put up for you, are being seen all over the world. Between this and her mugshot, which I`m going to show you again in just a second, everybody is taking a look at this stuff. Is this the kind of a thing, Ashleigh, that no matter what she does, is basically going to haunt her for years?

BANFIELD: I have to hearken back to another crazy video that we all saw a few years back and that was the sex tapes of Paris Hilton. We thought that would destroy her and I think that was the genesis of her brand new career. It really, sort of, catapulted her into the lime light. Again, I can`t make up these weirder stories and you can`t script them any better, but sometimes these very odd things, and naughty things, turn out to be boons for the careers of these young, I want to say, wannabe actresses. I`m not even sure if they are really actresses. But they are people, there are wannabe people anyway.

HAMMER: And if you take a look at that mugshot, if we could put it up for one last second Charles, it`s not a terrible picture. So maybe --

BANFIELD: She looks great.

HAMMER: She is on the same page that Mel Gibson was before he had his shot in Malibu. Court TV anchor Ashleigh Banfield, I appreciate your joining us tonight on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

BANFIELD: Nice to see you.

HAMMER: You too.

ANDERSON: Coming up, a "Brady Bunch" star and his reality show wife go ghost hunting. Plus is there a reality show marriage curse? Chris Knight and Adrianne Curry, next.

HAMMER: Also, Lindsay`s liquor shocker. Tonight, Lindsay Lohan`s startling revelations about her battle with booze. The dramatic steps that she is taking to ditch the drinking, well, at least some of it.

ANDERSON: And the absolutely awful things celebrity parents have done this year, from the Donald dissing diaper duty, to Britney and Brad slacking when it comes to safety. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT bring you the stinky diaper award.

First, tonight`s Entertainment Weekly great American pop culture quiz, which real life musician was not portrayed in the Johnny Cash bio-pic "Walk The Line?" Was it Waylon Jennings, Elvis Presly, Jerry Lee Lewis or Bob Dylan? Think about it. We`re coming right back.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: Well again, tonight`s Entertainment Weekly great American pop culture quiz, which real life musician was not portrayed in the Johnny Cash bio-pic "Walk the Line," Waylon Jennings, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis or Bob Dylan? The answer is d, Bob Dylan.

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, TV`s most provocative entertainment news show. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. It is time now for a story that made us say, that`s ridiculous. So a real estate agent in Texas is actually helping her clients get more bang for their housing buck by giving away free guns. Yes, how about that? The agent is apparently offering a 500 dollar glock pistol with the purchase of any home worth at least 150,000 bucks. Now, before you get too fired up about this crazy sounding notion, I have to point out that the agent is married to a cop and that the offer is only open to other law enforcement officers. But, still, giving away guns with houses, now that`s ridiculous.

ANDERSON: Tonight we want to know what`s scarier, a haunted prison or the possibility of a reality TV couple`s curse. And who better to answer those questions than Adrianne Curry, who won the first season of America`s Next Top Model and television icon Christopher Knight of the "Brady Bunch." They met on the reality show "The Surreal Life," got married in front of America, and are now ghost hunting on VH1 Celebrity Paranormal Project. With me tonight, as you can see, in Hollywood, Adrianne Curry and Christopher Knight. Good to have you both.

CHRIS KNIGHT, REALITY TV STAR: Thank you.

ADRIANNE CURRY, REALITY TV STAR: Hi.

ANDERSON: All right. Now, this latest TV project you`re in, Celebrity Paranormal Project, on VH-1, you guys get the ghost hunting equipment, you`re left in a prison that is said to be haunted. You`re there with Danny Bonaduci (ph) and his wife Gretchen. I want to know, were you looking around for old skeletons in the closet from the "Brady Bunch" and the "Partridge Family," talking about the old days?

KNIGHT: We never really met when we shot our shows. Danny has a story he tells everybody, but it is very much a story in his mind only, and that is that somehow there was a rumble. There was a Brady/Partridge rumble. But we never really saw each other.

ANDERSON: Went head to head.

KNIGHT: Yes. So no, it was a pleasure actually working with Gretchen and Danny, and in that environment especially, since it provided a great deal of distraction from our relationships.

ANDERSON: I`m sure. And what about these ghosts? Adrianne, did you believe that ghosts were really there?

CURRY: Absolutely.

ANDERSON: Because you`re a believer in the paranormal.

CURRY: I am, but I am also a believer that it needs to stay away from me. So while sitting there and doing all this stuff, it was in my mind that there had to be producers or P.A.`s running around trying to scare me. So every time I would hear a noise or I would hear something shuffle next to me, I would run full force to go check it out. And there is nobody there. Then some things happened that -- some things happened that were pretty unexplainable and that`s when I completely lost it. And I think I cried like I was three years old, begging for my mother.

KNIGHT: I`m not sure it was a great decision for Adrianne to do, because she was affected.

ANDERSON: Everybody can see how you feel about the whole thing on the show. In addition to this show, you guys are famous for "My Fair Brady" and for appearing together on the "Surreal Life." And congratulation, you`ve been married for what now, six months?

KNIGHT: Six months and 13 days.

ANDERSON: Bickering a little bit, like old married people before the segment started, very cute.

KNIGHT: We have it down.

ANDERSON: But let me ask you this, some people say there is a reality TV show curse. You`ve got Nick Lachey (ph) and Jessica Simpson, who had the Newly Weds, Carmen Electra, Dave Navarro. I could go on and on and on, and you know that. What do you think? What`s going on? Do you worry about that? The have the shows about their marriages and then they split.

CURRY: I think the curse might be based on a false persona, a false depiction of what the relationship is really going through and having to live up to this perfect, you know, edited piece that they present to the public, knowing that that`s not how it is at home. We don`t do that. We just throw it all out there and we say, we`re all messed up. I`m not quite worried about it. I mean, unlike these other couples, we met on television. So, we were already messed up from the get go.

ANDERSON: You just lay it all out there.

KNIGHT: And frankly, I mean, the curse is really not on reality show couples, it might just be on all entertainment couples. Maybe just on all couples.

ANDERSON: Maybe so, everyone has a different perspective about the whole thing. And you both have a unique perspective on Hollywood and fame. Of course, you grew up a child star with the "Brady Bunch." You became well-known with "America`s Next Top Model." There is, what, a 25-year age difference between you two, although you would never know.

KNIGHT: Well, thank you.

ANDERSON: You come from different generations of Hollywood. That being said, what do you think of what`s happening today, the young starlet party scene out there. I`m talking -- you`re rolling your eyes -- Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, everybody, Paris Hilton, should everybody just leave them alone, let them have their fun, or are they out of control?

KNIGHT: I think both. I think that you can`t expect everybody to leave them alone, but I wish that people would leave them alone. I wish there was no business in entertainment, that it wasn`t that interesting to our population. But apparently it is. And in that it is, it creates business. And that would be the difference that I notice in the modern entertainment industry from 25 years ago.

ANDERSON: The public is absolutely insatiable now.

KNIGHT: There was probably always a curiosity, but it didn`t create a business until the last 15-20 years. And that`s a huge business. And with that, there is a great deal of pressure to get these shots, to invade people`s lives. And then there is a certain adolescence that seems to be focused on by the cameras, that is not really ready for primetime out in public yet. I mean, frankly, they are acting like 20-year-olds.

CURRY: Wait a minute. They are my age and I don`t remember the last time someone took pictures of me getting out of my car without underwear on.

ANDERSON: Hopefully you keep your panties on. We`ll end it there. But it was a pleasure. Adrianne Curry and Christopher Knight, thank you both so much. And you can see Adrianne and Chris on "Celebrity Paranormal Project," this Sunday on VH-1.

HAMMER: Now we`ve got the startling new results of a brand new poll about race. It was done because of Michael Richards` disgusting racial rant. And it shows the U.S. is still pretty divided on this hot topic. When the former Seinfeld star started spewing the N-word at an L.A. comedy club last month, people everywhere were outraged. But in a poll conducted by the Opinion Research Corporation for CNN, it is shocking just how different whites and blacks see the controversial issue.

Nearly half of all blacks in the U.S. think racial bias is a very serious problem. But only 18 percent of whites think it is. Now, get this, about two-thirds of African Americans know someone who regularly uses the N-word when referring to a black person, less than half of whites do. What`s also interesting though, about the same amount of blacks and whites, one in eight, consider themselves racially biased. Of course, Richards has since apologized for his outburst and some big names comedians and leaders have called on Hollywood to ban the use of the N-word.

ANDERSON: Just as there is brand new controversy surrounding Princess Diana`s death, there are plans for a huge star-studded event to celebrate her life. Details coming up.

HAMMER: And the most absolutely awful things celebrity parents have done this year, from the Donald dissing diaper duty, to Britney and Brad slacking when it comes to safety. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT brings you the stinky diaper awards.

ANDERSON: Also, Lindsay`s liquor Shocker. Tonight Lindsay Lohan`s startling revelation about her battle with booze, the dramatic new steps she`s taking to ditch the drinking, well, at least some of it. Stay with us.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Tomorrow, the comeback kids of 2006. We`re going to be taking a look at the stars who made a big comeback in 2006, getting back on TV, sometimes dancing back into the spotlight.

Plus, advice for the stars who need to make a comeback in the new year. That`s tomorrow.

ANDERSON: Jada Pinkett Smith is opening up her checkbook in a big way. Will Smith`s wife is donating a million dollars to her high school, the Baltimore School for the Arts. The money will go towards a new theater. It will be named after her. Pinkett has asked, though, that the theater be dedicated to her classmate, rapper Tupac Shakur. Shakur was killed in a drive by shooting in Las Vegas in 19996. The two of them were friends. Jada Pinkett Smith graduated in 1989.

HAMMER: The most absolutely awful things celebrity parents have done this year. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT brings you the stinky diaper awards. Coming up. We`ve also got this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

RENEE ZELLWEGER, ACTRESS: It`s a terrible, terrible addiction, and really bad for you. Because you just lie there in bed and you ruin by all the things that you can do nothing about.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Is this another celebrity addiction? What is it that Renee Zellweger is obsessed with? Don`t walk away. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT goes one on one with Renee, coming up.

HAMMER: Also, Lindsay liquor shocker. Tonight, Lindsay Lohan`s startling revelations about her battle with booze, the dramatic steps she is taking to ditch the drinking, well, at least some of it. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is coming right back.

(NEWS BREAK)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It is 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

ANDERSON: And I am Brooke Anderson in Hollywood. This is TV`s most provocative entertainment news show.

HAMMER: Brooke, you know, parents make mistakes with their kids all the times, do things that, well, they probably shouldn`t have done. But when they`re celebrity parents, the world is watching.

ANDERSON: Right.

HAMMER: It gets caught on camera, it gets reported in the news. And that`s why tonight we have for you the Stinky Diaper Awards - some of the biggest celebrity-parent blunders of 2006. It`s fascinating.

ANDERSON: Yes, you really don`t want that award. Looking forward to that, A.J.

Also, princes William and Harry are planning what they hope is the best birthday present ever for their mother, Diana. It`s a celebration of her life. It`s going to be a star-studded event, and we will tell you who will be there, coming up.

HAMMER: Looking forward to that as well.

But first tonight, startling new details about Lindsay Lohan`s battle to get her drinking under control. The starlet reveals to "People" magazine she`s actually been attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings for the past year, but hasn`t said anything to anyone because, of course, it`s anonymous.

The 20-year-old goes on to say - quote - "I haven`t had a drink in seven days, or anything. I`m not even legal to, so why would I?." She also says, "I don`t drink when I go to clubs. I drink with my friends at home. But there`s no need; I feel better not drinking. It`s more fun. I have Red Bull."

This might not be the mascot Alcoholics Anonymous is looking for.

Joining me here in New York, Deborah Schoeneman, contributing editor to "New York" magazine. Also author of "4%Percent Famous."

It is good to see you, Debra.

DEBORAH SCHOENEMAN, AUTHOR, "4% FAMOUS": Good to see you, too.

HAMMER: So let`s look at what she`s saying. On the one hand, she`s been going to AA for a year. On the other hand, she`s saying, Well, I haven`t had a drink in a week.

Now any progress is good progress when it comes to drinking. If it`s a problem you`re trying to deal with. And - but if you look at it on the surface, it kind of looks like perhaps she`s not taking it all that seriously.

SCHOENEMAN: I don`t know if she`s taking it seriously at all. I mean, AA is a very serious program. It`s not something you`re in for a year and then you boast of not having a drink for seven days. People are in AA, it`s - you know, take this treatment very seriously.

And this seems, you know, interestingly timed. She`s had a few kind of manic rants on her BlackBerry about politics and how Al Gore was going to help her, about the death of Robert Altman, about now that she`s in AA - they`ve seen these kind of intense kind of ramblings that maybe she`s dispatching when she`s under the influence of something.

HAMMER: So what`s the deal then with coming out with this kind of a revelation? Is it more or less PR spin so she doesn`t get thrown in the same ring with, you know, the - the Paris Hiltons and Nicole Richies, who certainly are having their share of troubles right now? Is that kind of it?

SCHOENEMAN: Well, yes. I mean, she`s been photographed with Paris and - and Britney out lately. And Nicole gets arrested for DUI today. So I think she wants to distance herself from those party girls.

But she`s still out with them all the time and photographed with them all the time, so I don`t know if this missive is really going to - if she has that goal.

HAMMER: Yes - yes, let`s talk about that for a second. Because so much has been made of her partying. This is something that she is quoted as saying in this article. Quote - "I don`t want" people to be - "I don`t want to be written about at these clubs with these people. I work. I act. I have a living."

So it sort of begs the question, if that`s really how she feels, what in the world is she doing going out every night? Because if she goes out, she will be photographed.

SCHOENEMAN: Of course. And obviously, she - she wants to be photographed on some level. She doesn`t have to be going to these nightclubs. And she`s not even legally supposed to be in any nightclubs.

And, you know, this is also coming on the heels of a big producer writing that letter that was in the news about how her behavior was not appropriate on set.

HAMMER: Right.

SCHOENEMAN: The Chateau, I heard, threw her out for her hard-partying ways. I mean, she obviously has to do something to be taken seriously to get these wholesome, Disney-kid-grown-up movies that she wants, that pay really well.

HAMMER: And she really does want to be taken seriously now. And this is also coming on the heels of a couple of - of basically flop movies for her. "Prairie Home Companion," not a - I - I like the movie.

SCHOENEMAN: Right.

HAMMER: Not a big box office success. And, of course, that was the Robert Altman film. And, of course, "Bobby" didn`t do all that well.

She really could be in real trouble here.

SCHOENEMAN: She could be. And her bread and butter has been these wholesome Disney movies. That`s why she`s famous. So she probably wants to keep those roles.

HAMMER: Well, if she can get it together and - and - and pull it off.

Deborah Schoeneman, I appreciate your insight tonight.

SCHOENEMAN: Thanks so much.

HAMMER: Thank you.

ANDERSON: Now on to another party girl making headlines, Nicole Richie. As SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has been reporting, Richie was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Police say she was going the wrong way on a freeway and admitted to smoking pot and taking Vicodin. And as you might imagine, on "The View" this morning, the co-hosts just couldn`t stay away from this story.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

ROSIE O`DONNELL, "THE VIEW": Poor Nicole Richie. This girl needs help. She was arrested for DUI and - and sadly - and they waited her...

JOY BEHAR, "THE VIEW": DUIPH. You know, you`re driving under the influence of Paris Hilton.

(LAUGHTER)

(CROSSTALK)

BARBARA WALTERS, "THE VIEW": (INAUDIBLE) asked her how much, it - it said 100 - that she weighed 100 pounds on - on her driver`s license. And they said, How much do you weigh?

O`DONNELL: 85...

(CROSSTALK)

BEHAR: She`s lying about her weight when she`s 80 - 100...

O`DONNELL: She`s sick. You have to remember this. This is a disease. Anorexia is a disease, and it - a - a mental disease.

ELIZABETH HASSELBECK, "THE VIEW": I know, but - I get that. But I`m also just frustrated, because if she were a guy who was caught drunk driving on the wrong side of the road, people would just be a little more up in arms. Because she`s Nicole Richie, I think people aren`t as...

(CROSSTALK)

WALTERS: ...who also didn`t go to jail (INAUDIBLE). They say - you know, I won`t name names because...

O`DONNELL: Mel Gibson.

(LAUGHTER)

(END VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: Rosie also pointed out that at 85 pounds, Nicole Richie is not the same size as her 9-year-old.

HAMMER: Oscar-winning actress Renee Zellweger is well-known for losing and gaining weight for films. Still, she`s always managed to do it in healthy ways.

Now she is focused on a new role, one for which she did not have to shed a single pound. It`s a charming film called "Miss Potter," a biopic about children`s book writer Beatrix Potter.

And when I sat down with Renee, I asked her about something CNN`s own Christiane Amanpour had once told me about Renee: that she`s actually obsessed with, of all things, the news.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

RENEE ZELLWEGER, ACTRESS: Oh, addicted. I`m a junkie. It`s a terrible, terrible addiction. It`s not really bad for you, because you just lie there in bed and you ruminate about all the things that you can do nothing about.

HAMMER: And do you - do you follow certain stories, and - oh, how`s that going to turn out?

ZELLWEGER: Yes, I do. I read between the lines a lot. Yes, I do. Yes, I`m fascinated by the contradictions in the news that you`ll find if you pay attention internationally. It`s a really fun little game when you go to England and watch the news, and then you go to Canada and you watch the news, and the different accounts and - and what`s reported and what`s not. It varies.

HAMMER: Yes, you get a quite different perspective.

ZELLWEGER: It`s fascinating.

HAMMER: In - in the news this year, there was so much controversy.

ZELLWGER: Yes.

HAMMER: And a lot of it came out of Hollywood. You know, whether it was even - even Jon Benet Ramsey and - and Mark Karr sort of crossed over into the Hollywood realm, and people are talking about making movies. And then of course, Mel and Michael Richards.

Is there - is there any story from the past year that you followed that was particularly controversial - that, I got to see how this ends? That you couldn`t get away from?

ZELLWEGER: Which one? I mean, I can`t even start. I can`t even - I can`t even begin, because I`ll get a terrible rash. I`ll break out in hives.

HAMMER: I don`t want you to do that.

ZELLWEGER: There`s just so many. There`s so many. It`s been a very interesting time, particularly in American politics over the past seven years, eight years. It`s been fairly fascinating and exhausting and frustrating...

HAMMER: Yes.

ZELLWEGER: ...because a lot of times you feel like, Charlie Brown in class, when, you know, you ask a question and the teacher responds (MUMBLING). And I feel like, you know, the press does its best to ask the questions and the answers always. Well, we`re not going to address that right one, because we`re in the middle of investigating that and we`re - you know, we`re not going to address that. So we`re just going to wait until we`re finished investigating until, you know - form my perspective, is, Well, we`re not going to address that right now. We`re going to keep investigating it until - until you realize that there`s no investigation really going on, and we hope that you forget about asking later.

HAMMER: It kind of makes it feel like we`re being controlled a little bit.

ZELLWEGER: Oh, I don`t know. I don`t know what it feels like anymore. It`s really frustrating, and I`d comment, but I think it`s a really bad idea that I comment, because then I`ll start spewing out my plebian, pedestrian opinions that I have not substantiated.

HAMMER: Well, I give you the platform.

ZELLWEGER: Don`t do it. It`s so uninteresting. From the perspective of a person who travels around the world and turns on the TV set, I`m fascinated. I`m perplexed, and I`m frustrating. Because I`m, like, Wait, wait, wait - oh, wait. Explain that to me. Oh, it`s gone. And we`re not going to address it again ever. And how can you just not address some of the issues that have been passing by in this period of time?

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Renee certainly has a lot of insight about news coverage. Could have taken with her about it for hours.

Her latest movie is called "Miss Potter." It opens in limited release on December 29.

ANDERSON: The star of "Ugly Betty" has a theory on beauty. What she and other stars told SHOWBIZ TONIGHT about body image in Hollywood - that`s next in the "SHOWBIZ Weight Watch."

HAMMER: Also, is Gwyneth Paltrow stuck in the 1950s? We`re going to tell you why Gwyneth ended up with a Stinky Diaper Award for her approach to parenting. That`s coming up.

We`ll also have this:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PRINCE WILLIAM: We wanted to have this big concert with - you know, full of energy, full of sort of fun and happiness, which I know she`d have wanted.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Diana`s sons are planning what they hope will be their mom`s best birthday celebration ever. We`re going to tell you who`s on the bill, straight ahead.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Go Camera 3. Let`s A.J. at the couch for the next segment.

And effect black now.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, TV`s most provocative entertainment news show. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

It is time now to call out the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Truth Squad, because you know we stop at nothing to get to the bottom of Hollywood`s biggest mysteries.

Tonight, is Mariah Carey suing a porn star to try to get her to stop using her name? Well, there have been reports that multi-Grammy-winning Mariah Carey - that Mariah Carey - is trying to stop triple-X star Mary Carey from trade-marking her name. Now the reports say Mariah thinks people will confuse the two of them. I don`t think that actually could happen.

We did call Mariah`s publicist, who completely shot down the rumor anyway: no lawsuit is happening. So case closed.

Ladies and gentlemen now, it is the moment you have all been waiting for...

(DRUM ROLL)

HAMMER: ...SHOWBIZ TONIGHT presents the winner of the 2006 Stinky Diaper Awards. I thought there was another $5 sound effect. I didn`t know they were in a budget this year.

The question is, Who are the year`s worst celebrity parents? Was it Britney, Charlie and Denise, Gwyneth or the Donald?

Joining me tonight, Christina Vercelletto, the senior editor of "BabyTalk" magazine.

Christina, I appreciate you being here.

CHRISTINA VERCELLETTO, SENIOR EDITOR, "BABYTALK": Sure thing.

HAMMER: Let`s get right to these awards, because this is fascinating. I`m a little uncomfortable with the name, but OK.

The Stinky Diaper Award for "Public Poop-Slinging" goes to Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards. Of course, they have two little girls, Sam and Lola. A very public, very messy divorce where, among other things, she is accusing him of being wildly into porn.

VERCELLETTO: Right.

Well, we at "BabyTalk" just were so concerned about the little girls. I mean, obviously they had a very messy divorce. But they should have used some discretion, kind of keep a lid on things. I mean, these little girls are going to grow up and are going to read these things and hear these things. And how they are going to feel? I mean, some of the things Denise Richards has issued in statements - that he`s into porn, and more specifically, you know, the kind that involves pigtails and braces - I think that`s what she said.

I mean, this is...

HAMMER: Yes.

VERCELLETTO: ...not something you want your kids to read. Come on, guys.

HAMMER: Yes - no, it is pretty tacky.

VERCELLETTO: Yes.

HAMMER: Keep - keep the poop-slinging private when - when there are kids involved.

All right. In the next category, "It`s Time To Bone Up on Baby Safety" with the Stinky Diaper going to - to two big stars, Britney Spears and Brad Pitt. Of course, Britney famously driving with her son Sean Preston in her lap, not in the car seat. And then of course Brad Pitt with baby Zahara on his bicycle without a helmet on.

VERCELLETTO: Without a helmet.

HAMMER: Huh?

VERCELLETTO: In a baby carrier, and no shoes on. And Britney with the baby in her lap. Yes, I mean, we take baby safety really seriously at "Baby Talk." So we just wanted to let parents know, this is not anything you should be doing. No matter how much you love these celebrities, this is not the right way to ride around with your kids.

And Britney in particular was saying she was trying to escape the paparazzi, and that`s why she had him in her lap? It takes less than 60 seconds to put a baby in a car seat.

HAMMER: Yes, no kidding.

VERCELLETTO: And obviously she did not succeed in eluding them, because they got her picture. So it seems a little silly to me. So definitely not good to ride around with your kids in either of those fashions.

HAMMER: And they got her picture, and she got a Stinky Diaper from you guys.

VERCELLETTO: Yes.

HAMMER: And Britney, of course, has two kids now. You guys put this list together before all of her hard, pantyless partying was making the papers every single day.

VERCELLETTO: That`s right.

HAMMER: Can`t be good for her image, what`s going on with her now.

VERCELLETTO: No, definitely not. She`s had a string of incidents that have kind of compiled to really give sort of a bad image of her.

I think one of the things on their own would be OK, people might be willing to forget. But when you look at the whole package, the media`s been pretty hard on her.

HAMMER: Yes. And she`s a mom; she really needs to perhaps get this in check.

All right. Let`s move on to the Stinky Diaper for "Pappy Won`t Do Nappy Award," Donald and Melania Trump. This is classic because Donald has been quite public about the fact that he won`t change diapers.

VERCELLETTO: I - I believe he has said he has never changed a diaper in his life, and he has five kids, and that she loves to do it. She loves to do it? I mean, come on. Again, we just to let our readers know, no matter who your husband is, this is not cool.

HAMMER: Yes.

VERCELLETTO: He should change a diaper once in awhile.

HAMMER: I don`t care how many buildings are named after the guy.

VERCELLETTO: Well, it`s...

HAMMER: I want to move on to the category of "Stuck in the 1950s," with this Stinky Diaper going to Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband from Coldplay, the lead singer of that band, Chris Martin. Their kids are Apple and Moses.

Now you guys are saying they are a bit old-fashioned?

VERCELLETTO: Yes. And when love Gwyneth. In fact, we did a poll of our readers, which celebrity you would most want for your best friend. And Gwyneth rated really, really high. So when we saw that she had said, you know, he`s the daddy, he works, I`m the mummy; I take care of the things at home. We were, like - our jaws dropped. Like, Gwyneth did not say that; not our Gwyneth. I mean, it`s not...

HAMMER: Not - not a modern way of thinking.

VERCELLETTO: Yes. Yes. She seems to come across as so modern and so independent and so cool, we were really pretty shocked when we read that.

HAMMER: Well, thanks for sharing these awards with us, the Stinky Diaper Awards.

Christina Vercelletto, I appreciate you joining us.

And to see the best and the rest of the Stinky Diaper Award winners, check out the new issue of "BabyTalk" magazine, on newsstands now.

ANDERSON: Well, it`s time now for the "SHOWBIZ Weight Watch," where we cover issues about body image and Hollywood like nobody else.

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT caught up with some big stars at an event in Los Angeles celebrating women in television and radio. And they had a lot to say about the pressure to be thin and perfect, and how to fight that.

"Ugly Betty" star America Ferrara said it has a lot to do with how you`re raised, but the media could - could be doing more to celebrate different body types.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

AMERICA FERRERA, "UGLY BETTY": I think that the important part is to show the differences in live, and the differences of - of the different definitions of what beautiful is and what woman is. And - you know, and - and I think for every negative image out there, there`s go to be two positive images to counteract that.

MARLO THOMAS, ACTRESS/PRODUCER: I think it`s so unsexy to be that skinny. So I think you should say to young women, if you really want to look attractive and sexy, look healthy. Because there`s nothing appealing about a bony woman.

JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT, "THE GHOST WHISPERER": The day that I think that we will be doing really, really well is when a magazine has half articles about how beautiful you could look in a dress, and the other half are articles on how you could look beautiful in your spirit. And then I think we will have gotten somewhere.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: Jennifer Love Hewitt also pointed out that looks fade with aging, and all you`re left with is whether you`re a good person or not. Very well said, Jennifer.

HAMMER: As SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has been telling you, a long-awaited British report on Princess Diana`s death is coming out on Thursday, and will reportedly include information that the U.S. government may have been spying on her.

For now though, Diana`s sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, are focusing on their mother`s life. They`re organizing a star-studded concert and memorial service, promising it will be the best birthday present their mother ever had.

Here`s CNN`s Paula Hancocks for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

PAULA HANCOCKS, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Diana, princess of Wales, would have turned 46 next year. Her sons, princes William and Harry are determined to make this birthday one to remember.

PRINCE WILLIAM: We wanted to have this big concert with - you know, full of energy, full of sort of fun and happiness, which I know she`d have wanted. And on her birthday as well, it`s got to be the best birthday present she ever had.

HANCOCKS: The concert will also mark something more somber: 10 years since Diana died in a car crash in Paris.

(SINGING)

HANCOCKS: With stars like Elton John who sang at Diana`s funeral...

(SINGING)

HANCOCKS: ...Joss Stone, and Duran Duran.

PRINCE WILLIAM: Well, the idea is we wanted to get artists our mother really loved and then artists that both Harry and I enjoy. And then in the middle, with the - with the ballet and -- and Andrew Lloyd Webber -- obviously she loved the dancing in their musicals.

HANCOCKS: Proceeds from the concert will go to a number of charities that were supported by Diana during her life, and to two of the princes` own charities.

PRINCE WILLIAM: We`re raising money for Centrepoint and Sentebale. I`m pitching Centrepoint, and Harry`s pitching Sentebale. And they`re both charities that are continuing on (ph) for my mother`s legacy.

HANCOCKS: The princes are also planning a commemorative memorial service for August 31, the anniversary of their mother`s death.

That will be a family affair. Their stepmother, the Duchess of Cornwall, will also attend.

William and Harry gave their word, they will be making an appearance on stage at some point during the evening of the concert. As for where you can buy tickets...

PRINCE WILLIAM: We`re going to be very good and ask (ph) our Santa, very nicely.

PRINCE HARRY: Or ring his mobile.

(CROSSTALK)

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: That was CNN`s Paula Hancocks for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

ANDERSON: Last night, we asked you to vote on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT "Question of the Day": "Princess Diana: Do you think she was murdered?"

Forty-six percent of you say yes; 54 percent of you say no.

Here`s some of the e-mails we received:

Michael from Florida writes, "You bet I believe Diana was murdered. If the paparazzi hadn`t been chasing their car, she would not have died."

Kim from California says, "Of course she was murdered. By a drunk driver."

Thanks so much for your e-mails. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is coming right back.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, TV`s most provocative entertainment news show.

And the subject of wedding bells also came up in an interview with CNN`s Larry King. Take a look.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

LARRY KING, CNN HOST: Someone called me today - are you going to get married? Just is interesting to know. I wish you lots of luck. Someone said that you`re planning a Christmas wedding in South Africa.

ANGELINA JOLIE, ACTRESS: Who - who - no.

KING: You just blew it. Destroyed it.

JOLIE: (INAUDIBLE). But thank you for your support if I was. But I`m not.
