HAMMER: I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. TV`s most provocative entertainment news show starts right now.
(Voice over): On SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Anne Heche`s very ugly, nasty divorce. Tonight, Anne`s husband airs some very dirty laundry that made us go -- wow! And only SHOWBIZ TONIGHT brings you the revealing clue Anne Heche once gave us before she ran off with her co-star.

Tonight SHOWBIZ TONIGHT with the unbelievable things her husband is saying about her new boyfriend, and their young son caught in the middle.
Paris Hilton`s countdown to lockdown. Pretty soon she`ll be behind bars instead of dancing on top of them. Talk about the simple life, no cell phone, no Blackberry, no makeup, no tiny little dogs, no cocktails. How will she ever survive?
Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT dares to go to a very scary place, inside the mind of Paris Hilton.
HAMMER (on camera): Friday night is on. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. And tonight we`ve got the secrets of stars who have successful marriages and make it work by staying out of Hollywood. That is coming up.
But first, tonight, the marriage that did not work out has become the newest and nastiest divorce battle in Hollywood. Anne Heche, who ran off with her TV co-star is being accused by her soon-to-be ex-husband of -- well, how shall I say this politely? -- having a few screws loose.
Heche is not taking this sitting down. And, once again, a child is caught right in the middle. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT with the dirty and sometimes disturbing details.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
HECHE: You have to be happy yourself, in order to find happiness. And I truly believe that myself. And if you believe in it hard enough, and you are true to yourself, you will find the right person.
HAMMER (voice over): That was Anne Heche, last year, talking to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT when she was still married to this guy, cameraman turned stay-at-home dad, Coley Laffoon. Those were happier times, now, not so much.
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has obtained the shocking divorce and child custody papers filed earlier this month by Heche`s soon-to-be ex, who claims Heche is an unfit mother and questions whether she`s psychologically capable of caring for their five-year-old son, Homer.
GILLIAN SHELDON, SUPERVISING PRODUCER, TMZ.COM: He`s claiming she`s delusional. She, apparently, called him one night, he said in the papers, from an airport, and didn`t know where she was. He claims that she has never put Homer into a car seat, that she makes lunches for him that he doesn`t like, that she`s never going to be a fit mother. And it`s really making some really dirty accusations, which play on her sort of questionable history in the past.
HAMMER: Laffoon filed for divorce on February 1st, citing irreconcilable differences. A month later, Heche publicly revealed that she had fallen in love with the non-other than the guy she co-stars with in her TV show.
PATRICK HUGUENIN, NY DAILY NEWS: Anne Heche left Coley Laffoon for her "Men In Trees" co-star James Tupper, who, in fact, had just separated from his wife, Kate. But both of them claim there was no dirty dealing before they got together, and that there was no overlap in their relationships.
HAMMER: No dirty dealing then, but there`s certainly some now. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you that the divorce papers aren`t pretty. Laffoon claims Heche is mentally unstable and refuses to seek professional help. He refers to a trip Heche took to New York City and a phone call he got from her in the airport.
SHELDON: She called and he said she sounded very confused, very disoriented and said, I`m lost. I don`t know where I am. He then called her publicist to go to the airport, to LAX, to try to find her. Who then, couldn`t find her. She ended up back in Vancouver the next day and acted like nothing had happened.
HAMMER: Laffoon met Heche while she was living with her then-lover Ellen Degeneres, in a high-profile lesbian relationship. And get this -- he was working as a cameraman on Ellen`s standup comedy documentary. They got married in 2001, had a baby the next year. And in a revealing interview with SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, she told me they decided Coley would be a full-time, stay-at-home dad.
HECHE: It`s hard. It`s hard to have two careers in any marriage, no matter where you are.
I`m fortunate, when I got married, I knew that I wanted to start a family, my husband wanted to start a family. And he said, well, do you want to do this in a healthy way? How can we do it? One of us has to choose a job and one of us has to run the household. And I was certainly not going to run the household.
(LAUGHTER)
HAMMER (on camera): For reasons that we`re not even going to get into.
HECHE: I knew for sure, that wasn`t my job.
HAMMER (voice over): Wasn`t her job. And it looks like Laffoon wants it to stay that way. He`s seeking joint legal and primary physical custody of Homer, wants $33,000 a month in spousal support, plus child support.
SHELDON: He claims, in these divorce documents, that before they met he was only making $6,000 a year. In the documents it says she makes $81,000 an episode for "Men in Trees".
HAMMER: Laffoon is also asking the court to force an immediate psych evaluation on Heche. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you that this isn`t the first time her emotional well-being has been called into play.
SHELDON: You may remember in 2000 she had just broken up with Ellen Degeneres. And after that, several months after her big break up, it was very public and very painful, she was found in Fresno, California, running around allegedly on ecstasy calling herself Celestia.
HAMMER: In Heche`s 2001 autobiography, "Call Me Crazy", Heche explained that Celestia was an alter ego created as a defense against bad childhood memories, including allegedly being sexually abused by her father. Her family, by the way, denies those claims. Heche even spoke about Celestia with Barbara Walters in an interview she did with "20/20".
BARBARA WALTERS, TV TALK HOST: So, even though, you thought you were Jesus, or Celestia, you also, at the same time knew this was an aberration?
HECHE: Absolutely. That`s the thing about going crazy. You are absolutely aware -- at least I was -- that I was Anne Heche, an actress, I had friends. There were people who would think I was crazy if I was ever going to talk about this. And at the same time, I`m hearing God talk to me saying, you are basically from heaven.
HAMMER: Heche told Walters she even created a secret language to talk to God.
HECHE: (SPEAKING GIBBERISH)
HAMMER: It`s a past hard to ignore, and a future clouded at the moment by a lot of dirty laundry.

HAMMER: Well, Anne Heche`s people sent us this statement today. It reads: "It is disappointing that Coley Laffoon has resorted to filing lines with the court because Anne would not cave in to his astronomical monetary demands, including his demand for $45,000 a month in support. For the past several years the child`s father has refused to get a job in order to contribute financially to the child`s care."
Well, Anne Heche`s public feud is just the latest example of a bitter celebrity divorce busting wide open for all to see. We, of course, heard the disturbing voice mail rant by Alec Baldwin to his 11-year-old daughter calling her a rude, thoughtless little pig.
And then there`s the embarrassing video obtained by "Extra", of David Hasselhoff drunk out of his mind. This was a tape shot by his teenage daughter.
And who can forget the Charlie Sheen/Denise Richards he said, she said fight that included allegations of child porn and abuse.
So, Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is asking why do so many celebrities air their dirty laundry in public? And joining me from Hollywood, Investigative Journalist Jane Velez-Mitchell; in New York, Celebrity Journalist David Caplan.
Jane Velez-Mitchell, David Caplan, good to see you both.
Now, I get that logical behavior can certainly fly out the door during any bitter divorce, celebrity or not. But, Jane, why do so many stars feel they have to put it all out there, hang out the dirty laundry, for everybody to see?
JANE VALEZ-MITCHELL, INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST: Let`s look at this Anne Heche case, A.J. In many of these cases, you have the famous spouse and then the not-famous spouse. And the not-famous spouse feels the need a little leverage. They want to level playing field.
Well, that`s when they play the bad press card. Anne Heche says that`s exactly what happened in this case. That he demanded $45,000 in spousal support per month. And when she said no, get a job, that`s when he came back with these accusations that she engaged in delusional, bizarre behavior.
But guess what? When it comes to Anne Heche she may actually be inoculated. Because she has always exhibited delusional behavior. If you read her book, "Call Me Crazy", if you saw any of her big interviews, where she talked about having an alternate personality, named Celestina (sic), who spoke in an alien language -- he knew this when he married her!
HAMMER: Yes, but truly the egos do come into play and logic does fly out the door. We see it happen time and time again. And perhaps one of the most egregious examples of the airing of dirty laundry in public, David Hasselhoff`s drunken videotape that we`re looking at right now. Now, we still don`t know for sure who leaked it. We do know that he is in this bitter custody battle with his ex-wife, Pamela Bach. David says Pamela`s people, or Pamela leaked it. Pam has denied that.
David Caplan, I have to imagine this did not get out by accident.
DAVID CAPLAN, CELEBRITY JOURNALIST: Oh, absolutely not. I think most people believe the videotape was leaked by David Hasselhoff`s ex-wife, Pamela, or someone in her camp, because clearly this was in the middle of their bitter dispute. And, of course, the public was like, oh, my god, this is how this guy behaves around his kids?
But, you know, in the end I think there`s a lot of sympathy toward David Hasselhoff. He came out and said, listen, I have a disease, it`s an addiction. And then of course we see her, in turn, then give interviews after all this, because she had to counter all the sympathy that David was getting.
HAMMER: So maybe there`s a hope the public sympathy will somehow play out in the courtroom? I`m not exactly sure.
And also leaked out, of course, that audio of Alec Baldwin`s voice mail rant to his 11-year-old daughter. Yes, he called her a rude, thoughtless little pig on that particular tape. Now, this of course, only added fuel to this very bitter custody battle between him and his wife Kim Basinger. Kim issued this statement -- ex-wife, I should say.
Kim`s statement said, "Everybody is always asking why this custody battle ahs been going on for so many years, and now they have the answer. The issue is not about Kim or the alleged alienation that Alec constantly refers to, it is about his ongoing aggressive behavior."
HAMMER: Jane, "ongoing aggressive behavior"? Now why does Kim feel the need to tell the whole world this?
VALEZ-MITCHELL: Well, in this case, A.J., you have two very famous actors. You might say they`re equally famous. And it`s kind of like professional defamation. Actors are notoriously not only narcissistic but they have huge egos. They love to win. And also they`re very prone to drama. That`s why they get into acting. It`s almost like they have a team of scriptwriters, in their head, coming up with the most dramatic response to any situation.
Sure, there are a lot of custody battles. But who could have delivered the kind of performance, on voice mail, that Alec Baldwin delivered. They kind of suffer from their own abilities and their own talents as these drama addicts, in essence.
HAMMER: You`d like to say, who could script this stuff? And they`re exactly the right people to do it, I guess.
VALEZ-MITCHELL: Exactly.
HAMMER: We`ve got to talk about the Charlie Sheen/Denise Richards thing, because she alleged in papers that were made public, that he was surfing -- shall we say, inappropriate underage websites. She also claims he was abusive, something that he did deny. Now, we keep going back to the idea that kids are right in the middle of this.
And, David, they`re going to be teased about this in school.
CAPLAN: Yes, it`s shocking. With so many of these recent cases, it`s always the children who are in the middle, and the kids who are ultimately going to suffer from this. They don`t have the publicists and all the handlers around them, especially as they get older, to protect them from this. A lot of people wonder where are sort of the parenting skills of these celebrities, when they`re fighting against the other spouse?
HAMMER: I have two words of good advice for everybody involved in these public divorces, "Keep quiet!" Investigative Journalist Jane Velez- Mitchell and Celebrity Journalist David Caplan, thank you both tonight.

It is time now for a story that made us say, "That`s Ridiculous!" Meet Bobblehead -- really, that`s the guy`s name, Bob L. Head. The L stands for Leroy. This guy in Iowa is one of three finalists in a contest that`s going to make a bobblehead of someone actually named Bob L. Head. I`m exhausted just talking about it. The contest is being run by the Brooklyn Beaver`s, a Minor League baseball team. In addition to being immortalized in bobblehead history, the winner also gets to throw out the first pitch at a game.

Paris Hilton`s countdown to lockdown is just ticking away. By June 5, Paris will begin serving 23 days in the pokey and she`s in for a rude awakening. Poor Paris!
Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is asking the question, how in the world will she survive? Paris is going to be up at the crack of dawn, around 6:00 a.m. You know that`s the time she normally gets home from clubbing. Also, she won`t be sporting any hair extensions -- sorry, Paris, simply not allowed in prison. No makeup, no jewelry allowed in prison. Oh, the indignity!
And Paris will be in virtual social isolation. No text-messaging, no e-mail, no cell phone. Can you feel her pain right now? So prison is certainly bound to rock Paris` world not in a good way. How will she make it through? With me tonight, in New York, psychology expert Cooper Lawrence.
Cooper, it`s good to see you.
COOPER LAWRENCE, PSYCHOLOGY EXPERT: Good to see you.
HAMMER: Let talk about what she`s going to do, particularly about the clothes. I hate to break this news to Paris, but as far as I know, Prada does not make prison wear.
LAWRENCE: Yes!
HAMMER: Until they do a deal with Paris.
She is going to have to wear a standard issue prison jumpsuit. Will her skin just be crawling, Cooper Lawrence?
LAWRENCE: I think it`s going to freak her out. Yes, sure, why not? Let`s go with yes. Because, you know, she is somebody who -- her fashion -- she`s all about fashion. Every time you see her on the runway, or on the red carpet, it`s always this fabulous outfit. So, yeah, I think it`s going to bug her.
HAMMER: As I mentioned, no makeup, no hair extensions, no jewelry, here`s a woman who obviously -- I mean, look at her, she`s so caught up, so much of her self-worth seems to be caught up in her image, in how she looks, what she wears, and how much everything costs. How is this going to affect her self image?
LAWRENCE: That`s very true about her. She is one of these people that body image and self-image are completely combined. Plus, her fans -- her fans are all about what she looks like, what she wears. The minute they see you with a pair of glasses, they go out and buy it. So, her image is really important to her. So I think it`s going to have a little bit of an impact on her, looking in the mirror and seeing, you know, Paris au naturale.
HAMMER: No, you said, Cooper, her fans, but that is past tense, right?
LAWRENCE: Right.
HAMMER: You don`t think she actually still has fans?
LAWRENCE: Of course, she does. She has those three who showed up in the park that day --
HAMMER: Right!
LAWRENCE: -- to protest for her.
HAMMER: Right.
Back to our list of the things Paris is going to have to deal with now when she is in prison, in a way she`s never dealt with before. Waking up at 6:00 a.m., as I mentioned, this is when she`s usually probably stumbling in from a night out on the town, going to the clubs and being photographed by all the paparazzi.
This is certainly going to have a wild impact on her body clock. But this can really turn a person`s life upside down. I know that from having worked morning schedules and night schedules.
LAWRENCE: Right.
HAMMER: Poor Paris.
LAWRENCE: I know, you know -- I mean, it`s definitely going to turn her life upside down. But you know jail is supposed to be just a little bad for you, A.J. You know, it`s not supposed to be a cakewalk. And look, we`re hoping that when she is there she may have a revelation and realize that she`s going to change her ways. And that the lack of sleep, and the horrible clothing, she doesn`t want to go through it again. So, hopefully this will change her.
HAMMER: "Hopefully" is a very important word. Will it actually happen -- all remains to be seen.
Paris Hilton is going to be, perhaps for the first time in her life, completely incommunicato. Obviously, there is a certain degree to which they can use the public pay phone -- I can just see her now.
LAWRENCE: The whole hour.
HAMMER: Bringing some antiseptic over the phone trying to scrub it up. But no Blackberry, no e-mail, no text-messaging, no cell phone -- total inability to communicate. Now, this is a woman who`s probably calls - - she is probably on the phone constantly with all of her friends.
How is she going to be able to adjust to all this time with nobody to talk to, perhaps except for her herself?
LAWRENCE: That`s why we are hoping there will be some introspection here. The hope is -- that the reason why you go to jail -- you don`t have any communication with people. It is so you have a chance to look inside and see who you are. I don`t know if that`s going to happen here, because Paris Hilton is sort of famous for, you know, just looking very two- dimensionally.
But you know, maybe -- you never know what can change people. Hopefully, this will be the pivotal moment for her, where we`ll, you know, we`ll see her turn over a new leaf? I don`t know.
HAMMER: Do you think we`ll see her coming out looking even thinner than she already is? Because obviously she`s not dining in any expensive restaurant here.
LAWRENCE: Yes, right. I don`t think she ate much to begin with. If anything we`ll see her heavier, because the food there is full of calories. Maybe she`ll see her gain some weight finally.
HAMMER: Psychology expert, Cooper Lawrence. I appreciate your insight to this very important information.
LAWRENCE: Very important, A.J., thank you very much.

Well, Anne Heche met her new boyfriend, her co-star, on the set of ABC`s "Men In Trees". As I told you earlier, shocking news today about her ugly divorce battle. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you that in disturbing divorce papers filed by Heche`s soon-to-be ex-husband, a guy named Coley Laffoon, he claims the "Men In Trees" actress isn`t psychologically capable of caring for their son, Homer.
Coley says Anne has, quote, "poor parenting skills" and exhibits bizarre and delusional behavior. So, he is seeking joint custody, plus, $33,000 a month in spousal support, plus a whole lot more in child support, even legal fees. And even though, he`s currently unemployed, all this is happening.
Anne Heche fired back today telling us the accusations are lies and that her ex has not bothered to try and find a job to help out with the family financially.
As I said, Anne Heche, and her new man in her life, James Tupper, star together in the TV show "Men in Trees." In fact, Anne met her soon-to- be ex Coley, on a films set. KURIANSKY: Brad Pitt falling for Angelina Jolie, was not just about being on set, and being lovers. She was also his ticket to doing something important in the world, the fact that she`s a U.N. ambassador and traveling all over the place. He wanted to do that, so there was a bigger package for him.
HAMMER: Angelina`s not the only actress who mixes business with pleasure. Jennifer Garner met her first husband, Scott Foley, on the set of "Felicity." Then came boyfriend and "Alias" co-star Michael Vartan, and then came Ben Affleck, who she met when the co-starred in "Dare Devil".

HAMMER: Now Ben and Jen are married, with a kid.
KURIANSKY: There are so many elements that add to the possibility of falling in love on the set. Indeed, you`re isolated, you`re spending an enormous amount of time with one another. And you`re separated from your own home life.
HAMMER: Before that Ben and Jen, there was this Ben and Jen. Jennifer Lopez and Ben fell for each other on the set of "Gigli." That movie flopped and eventually so did the romance.

KURIANSKY: The bubble that`s created on set, when you`re in that romance, can certainly burst and be over when you go back to your own lives, and when you`re distracted, or when you`re on the next movie set.
HAMMER: Maybe that`s what happened to Julia Roberts who hooked up with a long list of leading men, including Liam Neesom, Dylan McDermott , Kiefer Sutherland, Lyle Lovett, and Matthew Perry. She`s now married to cameraman Danny Moder and -- get this, she met him, where else, on the set of "The Mexican."
With all this canoodling between co-stars, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you there is a way to keep famous relationships safe.
KURIANSKY: One way is to have a life that is away from Hollywood. So if you have someone like Julia Roberts, who`s now living in another state, happily married to Danny Moder, raising her kids.
Goldie Hahn has that, too. She has a house in Utah.
HAMMER: Speaking of Goldie Hahn, guess where Goldie met Kurt Russell, who she`s been with for 24 years, on the set of their 1982 movie "Swing Shift." Goldie`s daughter, Kate Hudson, may have learned a thing or two from mom. Kate, who split from hubby Chris Robinson, has been quietly been stepping out with her "You, Me & Dupree" co-star Owen Wilson, although the two have never confirmed a relationship.
KURIANSKY: In the long run, if somebody is going to fall for their co-star, and leave you for somebody else, you need to just say, you know what, there was nothing that I could do to stop that from happening.
HAMMER: And as SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has shown you, it is something that happens plenty in Hollywood.

HAMMER: Well, Teri Hatcher has come up with a very interesting way to fight back against the paparazzi -- by using her kid. The "Desperate Housewives" star got so fed up with photographers following her around all the time, she recruited her nine-year-old daughter, Emerson, to give them a taste of their own medicine.
Here`s what she told the ladies of "The View":

TERI HATCHER, ACTRESS, "DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES": The paparazzi can be fairly invasive at times. I did an interesting thing. I was a guest editor of "Glamour" magazine UK. And as one of the articles I did, I took a camera and gave it to Emerson, and every time the paparazzi followed us around, we would just start shooting them.
And it was -- I could not -- I did not expect how empowering it was for her. Not in a nasty way. It was just like -- we`d pull up at an ATM machine, or something, and they all surround us in cars and start shooting us. And I handed her the camera and she starts walking toward the cars --
BARBARA WALTERS, HOST, THE VIEW: Did it stop them?
HATCHER: -- and she`s shooting.
Well, since this article came out, they have really laid off. And I don`t know if it`s because of that, or if it`s just suddenly I`m certainly not hot anymore. I don`t know.
But what was important about it that it was really empowering to her.

HAMMER: One of the reasons I love Teri Hatcher. By the way, Teri also doesn`t have a particular star staple on her payroll. She doesn`t have a publicist. She made that move in order to keep a low profile.

And it is truly a no-holds-barred, knock down drag out between a tortoise and a cat. Look at this i-Report video. This was sent in by a South African viewer. This little guy has no problem coming out of his shell and keeps on snapping at kitty.
The ferocious feline fights back. Yeah, it was terrible. But the turtle, of course, stays in the battle, keeps at him, albeit slowly.
Boy, the fur is really flying here. The cat and tortoise, shell game, is our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT video of the day.
And now making it work, this is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT continuing coverage of stars who make their relationships work in Hollywood, and beyond. Tonight, I`ve got to ask, does living outside the Hollywood spotlight actually help star couples make their relationships stronger?
From Julia Roberts and Danny Moder`s retreat in New Mexico to Faith Hill and Tim McGraw calling Nashville their home, I want to know, is this the secret to making these relationships work? Joining me tonight from Atlanta, "CNN Headline News" Entertainment Reporter Adrianna Costa.
Nice to see you, Adrianna.
ADRIANNA COSTA, CNN HEADLINE NEWS ENTERTAINMENT REPORTER: Oh, nice to see you, A.J.
HAMMER: Let`s fire it up with Julia Roberts, the most beautiful smile in the world, next to your`s of course -- and Danny Moder. The two of them have been married almost five years now, they have two kids, the twins. She`s pregnant again. And as we know, Julia has had a lot of failed and high-profile relationships in the past. How exactly has living in New Mexico allowed her to make it work this time around?
COSTA: Well, the fact that she`s been married for five years, which is a really good thing. And they do have two kids, they`ve got a bun in the oven.
But here`s the thing, you nailed it, Julia Roberts has had many high- profile relationships. Whether you want to say they`ve failed or not is a different story, but they didn`t work.
So for her to keep her relationship out of Hollywood probably is necessary at this point. Not to mention, it`s good for the family because her kids are not photographed like other celebrities` kids are.
And Danny Moder, you`ve got to think, he is not a celebrity himself. He`s attached to Julia. That can sometimes be tough on the ego, if you`re right in the middle of Tinseltown; she`s been hounded by the paparazzi, and he`s kind of just trailing behind.
HAMMER: Yes.
COSTA: I think it`s good that they`re out there. They`ve got a big ol` ranch. She can come in for auditions if she needs to.
HAMMER: Well, the next relationship I want to is sort of the opposite of that. Where the wife is not so much in the spotlight, but the husband certainly is. Rocker Jon Bon Jovi, truly one of the nicest and best guys in show business. His wife is Dorothea. These guys have made it work. I mean, they`ve been together for such a long time. They`re high school sweethearts. They`ve been married for almost 20 years now.
And live in their home state of New Jersey. Do you think the choice to do that, even though Jon certainly has been in the movies, in addition to his rock star status, do you think that`s what`s kept them together for so long?
COSTA: Yeah, I think Jon Bon Jovi, in his own right, is a saint. Let`s be honest. I mean he`s got gorgeous women throwing themselves at him left and right, show after show. And for him to sort of pull himself away from the temptations, the bright lights in Hollywood, and keep his family in New Jersey -- where he grew up -- where they have family surrounding them -- was the smartest move he could have made.
I mean, as you know, A.J., 20 years is like eternity in Hollywood. Right?
HAMMER: Yes, it truly is.
COSTA: And there`s a lot of love there, you can see it.
HAMMER: He`s a guy who truly, I think also, because he`s kept himself out of that fray has allowed himself to stay grounded and stay in touch with what is real.
COSTA: Yes.
HAMMER: Let`s move on to our star next couple living outside of Hollywood, making it work. The lovely Sandra Bullock married to Jesse James. They live in Austin, Texas; both stars in their own right. Do you think they just feel that they have nothing to prove by staying in Hollywood, because certainly she`s spent quite a bit of time there before?
COSTA: Absolutely. Let`s be honest, and she`s gotten in front of the spotlight. She`s been on top of the world. Sandra Bullock is not one of those people who needs to audition day after day in the middle of Hollywood. She can be at a distance, and come in and read scripts and take whatever parts she wants.
Not to mention, I do believe the love between them is real. But they are very private, protective people. The first time we saw them in the tabloids together, they had been together for months and none of us even knew it. They tricked us, which shows you that they`re very private.
HAMMER: Yes. They were able to pull it off, and I think that`s what will enable them to sustain the relationship.
COSTA: Sure.
HAMMER: Very quickly, I want to make sure we get to Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. Of course, they`re not living in Hollywood. They live in the country music capital of Nashville. They are royalty there. How do you think staying away from Hollywood has really helped these guys out?
COSTA: This is an interesting situation because Nashville is to country stars what Hollywood is to actors, right? So they`re still very sort of up front and present there and they`ve got fans everywhere. I do know for a fact they live a little bit outside of Nashville. They do a great job together. They`re touring together. They`ve got the family. It`s smart. I don`t even know that they fit in, in Hollywood. Do you think?
HAMMER: Yeah, you know, really, they are exactly where they belong and they maintain even -- they manage to maintain a low profile.

You almost got a little emotional there.
JASLENE GONZALES, WINNER, "AMERICA"S TOP MODEL": Oh, I know, right now I`m tearing up.
HAMMER: That`s amazing. Wow.
GONZALES: It`s just such an amazing experience. It`s changed my life drastically.
HAMMER: I can imagine. Congratulations.
GONZALES: Thank you.
HAMMER: Welcome to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.
What a great story, too, because this season was the eighth installment of the show. You tried out for the seventh installment; you didn`t even make it into the final 13. So one season later, you became a winner. What was your secret this time around that allowed you to win the contest?
GONZALES: You know what, I just came back a lot stronger, more confident, very determined. I always had the drive and I just made sure I was knocking on that door until they opened it.
HAMMER: You certainly improved yourself and it was a very intense moment as we all saw. I`ve never seen Tyra quite so intense and quiet. And it was really almost bizarre.
GONZALES: Oh, my gosh, yes.
HAMMER: You`re 20 years old?
GONZALES: Yes.
HAMMER: You`re from Chicago. And now you`re a cover girl. You`re on the July issue of "Seventeen" magazine, which has to be thrilling to you.
GONZALES: Yes.
HAMMER: Your face and image going to be seen everywhere and make an big impression on millions of young girls, and young women, everywhere. What`s the message you want to send to them? Because you`re in a big position of power all of a sudden.
GONZALES: No, definitely. What got me through was perseverance. And I want to let girls out there know, follow your dreams and don`t let anybody come in your way. I know the industry is very tough and you get doors slammed left and right. But as long as you believe in yourself, and believe in your dream, you can definitely make it. I think I`m a great example of that.
HAMMER: I`ve got to tell you, I`ve been covering the world of fashion, as well as the world of Hollywood, for a long time now. And I have seen young women who have started out in the business doing exactly what you`re doing. And some of them can do very well, and some of them can get so caught up with it, and have their lives spin out of control.
Because certainly, you have fast fame, you have money, you have a lot of attention and people doing whatever you want to do. What is it you`re going to do to keep yourself grounded, so it doesn`t get the best of you, because it can happen?
GONZALES: I`m a family girl, very family oriented. As long as I stick to my roots, as well. I`m Puerto Rican. I`m very -- family oriented. As long as I have my family, I think that`s what`s going to keep me grounded, and also my faith in God.
HAMMER: But importantly, keeping the people who are already close to you, even closer now.
GONZALES: Definitely.
HAMMER: Of course, Tyra Banks, the executive producer and host of your show certainly has made a big deal, this year, over the whole weight issue. The paparazzi snapped, you know, what some would call some unflattering pictures of her. And she did a great thing. She went on the show and she called them out on it.
But obviously there is a lot of pressure in the modeling industry to look a certain way. You are obviously very thin. You appear to be very naturally thin. But do you feel pressured to stay that way, Jaslene?
GONZALES: No, because I think the whole thing has been such a major issue that now they`re letting like fuller girls -- accepted in modeling agencies now.
HAMMER: So you`re not going to freak out if you suddenly put on five pounds?
GONZALES: No, not at all. If anything, I`m trying to gain weight. So I don`t see myself having a problem with that at all.
HAMMER: It`s good to hear you have a healthy attitude about it. And again, congratulations on being America`s Next Top Model!
GONZALES: Thank you. Thank you, so much.

It`s time now for a story that made us say, "That`s Ridiculous!" And this one, as they say, is a real doozie. I don`t throw that word around lightly.
R. Kelly, the R&B singer, who was back in a Chicago court today on child porn charges, is comparing himself to Muhammad Ali and Martin Luther King. Yes, in an upcoming interview with "Hip-Hop Soul" magazine Kelly says, quote, "I`m the Ali of today. I`m the Marvin Gaye of Today. I`m the Bob Marley of today. I`m the Martin Luther King, or all the other greats that have come before us. And a lot of people are starting to realize that now."
I`m glad you`re so modest there, R. His publicist said that Kelly`s statements were taken completely out of context. What he`s trying to say is like Dr. King or Muhammad Ali, he`s trying to learn to respond to hate with love. But I still think he could have used a better choice of words. That`s why I say, "That`s Ridiculous!"
HAMMER: Yesterday we asked you to vote on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. Here`s what we were asking: Paris Hilton`s jail time shortened, is she getting special treatment? We got a ton of e-mail and a ton of votes on this one. And 90 percent of you said, yes, it is special treatment for Paris. Only 10 percent of you said, no.
We hear from Desiree in West Virginia, who writes: "So is she `too good` to be punished like the rest of the population? The United States justice system needs a lot of work."
Also, from Kelly in Florida, who thinks: "Paris Hilton is absolutely getting special treatment. She is getting a reduced sentence for good behavior. What good behavior? She was late for court and has expressed no remorse. Her jail time should be doubled."
I couldn`t agree more.
