Aired September 26, 2007 - 23:00 ET
THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.
BROOKE ANDERSON, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT ANCHOR: The shocking 911 call made after George Clooney`s scary motorcycle accident. We`ve got the frightening tape. And Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, you know, they both started out as sweet, innocent kid. So why has Justin become such a success and Britney, well, a disaster. I`m Brooke Anderson in New York. TV`s most provocative entertainment news show starts right now.
On SHOWBIZ TONIGHT the star of "24" busted for DUI. Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT with the real story behind Kiefer Sutherland`s shocking drunk driving arrest and it has happened to him before. Tonight, is Kiefer cooked? Will he get big time jail time? Plus SHOWBIZ TONIGHT demands to know why do so many stars keep drinking and driving. I mean, don`t they know better?
A shocking ad rocking the fashion industry. Tonight the startling almost unbelievable image of an anorexic model.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: We have to talk about it.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: Tonight, how the disturbing pictures are causing worldwide outrage and controversy. Is this a good way to fight eating disorders or could it actually make the problem worse? Tonight SHOWBIZ TONIGHT with the anger over the anorexic ad.
Hi there, everyone. I`m Brooke Anderson and this is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, broadcasting tonight and every night from New York City. A.J. has the night off. All right. Remember when Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake were the hottest couple in Hollywood, madly in love and inseparable? How is it that Justin went oh, so right while Britney went oh, so wrong? We`ve got a revealing look at that coming up.
But first where Kiefer Sutherland went oh, so wrong. Like so many other Hollywood stars, tonight Kiefer is accused of having way too many drinks and getting behind the wheel of a car, and jail, well, he may not be able to avoid it. Tonight SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you that Kiefer may be cooked.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
ANDERSON (voice-over): You`d think that "24`s" Jack Bauer would have to be stone cold sober to fight terrorists or to have those high-speed chases through the streets of L.A.
But the man who plays Jack, Kiefer Sutherland, is now making headlines for his latest arrest on suspicion of DUI.
JO PIAZZA, "THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS": I was amazed that CTU couldn`t get Jack Bauer out of this one. Can you imagine? It`s like paging CTU, Jack Bauer needs to beat a breathalyzer.
ANDERSON: Kiefer Sutherland is just the latest celebrity to get busted for DUI. And like Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan, the star of "24" faces the real possibility of having to do his clock watching from a jail cell.
AMY ARGETSINGER, "THE WASHINGTON POST": If he is found guilty of this charge he`ll be doing some time in jail. Which is good because I think "Prison Break" comes on right before "24" doesn`t it?
ANDERSON: Kiefer`s bad night began, ironically, the night of September 24. You`d think that was Kiefer`s lucky number.
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT brings you a look at Kiefer Sutherland just hours before his arrest at a party celebrating the new fall shows on Fox. Hours later, he had his unfortunate run-in with the L.A.P.D. here, on the corner of La Cienega (ph) and Beverly.
MIKE FLEEMAN, "PEOPLE MAGAZINE": About 1:00 in the morning cops pulled him over for making allegedly an illegal u-turn. They did a field sobriety test and he did not pass.
ANDERSON: We pushed hard to get someone to tell us what Kiefer`s blood alcohol content was.
Despite our best efforts, no one would talk. All we know is it was above the legal limit of .08. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you this isn`t Kiefer`s first DUI. He`s reportedly had DUI arrests in 1989 and 1993. In both cases he escaped a jail sentence by pleading guilty to lesser charges. But "People Magazine`s" Mike Fleeman tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Sutherland may not be so lucky this time.
FLEEMAN: In 2004 Kiefer was convicted of DUI. Now, that put him on probation and because he was arrested while on probation, he faces anywhere from four days in jail to two months in jail.
ANDERSON: And after Paris Hilton`s DUI led to a jailhouse fiasco, the leniency Sutherland used to get for past incidents may be long gone.
PIAZZA: I think the L.A. judges are getting a little tougher on celebrities now. So Kiefer needs to be careful.
ANDERSON: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you Kiefer Sutherland has long been one of Hollywood`s most famous hell raisers. His drunken attack on a hotel Christmas tree in London has become the stuff of Internet legend. But Sutherland`s continuing struggle with alcohol isn`t always funny. In an interview with "Rolling Stone Magazine" Sutherland says he often drinks heavily to release stress from the 14 hour days he spends filming "24." He told the magazine, quote, "it`s a dangerous thing thinking that if you work really hard you should be able to reward yourself by going out and getting (EXPLETIVE DELETED) faced.
FLEEMAN: It says that Kiefer is still dealing with an alcohol problem.
ANDERSON: "People Magazine`s" Mike Fleeman tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Kiefer`s statement is a troubling sign.
FLEEMAN: He`s only at the point where he`s aware that something is probably wrong, but he hasn`t reached the point where he can fix it. Maybe jail can help him.
ANDERSON: Maybe the threat of jail from his latest DUI arrest can help get Kiefer to partying responsibly.
ARGETSINGER: He`s making millions as the star and producer of "24." Can`t he afford a taxi?
ANDERSON: If he can`t afford a cab, maybe TV`s Jack Bauer can start sharing cabs with his fellow Hollywood drinkers and drivers. Now that would be an interesting car trip.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
ANDERSON: As you just heard, Kiefer Sutherland just the latest celebrity to get arrested for DUI. It really is remarkable. Let`s take a look at the most recent DUI role call, Kiefer Sutherland, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, "Prison Break" star Lane Garrison, "Extreme Makeover" host Ty Pennington.
All right, with me tonight in New York, celebrity journalist David Caplan and in Washington D.C., Glynn Birch, the National President of Mother Against Drunk Driving. Welcome to you both.
We know driving under the influence is unforgivable whether it`s a regular Joe or a celebrity. But David, I`ve got to ask, as you just heard, why the heck don`t these stars get drivers if they know they`re going get blitzed?
DAVID CAPLAN, CELEBRITY JOURNALIST: Excellent question. They can definitely afford it. The thing with the celebrities is they like the power of going in their cars and showing everyone off their fancy cars. You look at the like of Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, it`s almost like they have this latent adolescence, and it`s like high school. They like getting in their cars and driving around, going to fast food places. It`s a very bizarre culture.
ANDERSON: Shouldn`t they know that they will have the humiliation, not to mention that they could hurt or kill somebody, but the humiliation of seeing it broadcast everywhere, TV, Internet, everywhere.
CAPLAN: I mean, a lot of them like that. Unfortunately, it`s become an almost right of passage in young Hollywood; oh my god, I got busted for DUI. Here`s my mug shot. It`s on TMZ.com. It`s sick, but unfortunately, that`s really the culture in which they operate in Hollywood.
ANDERSON: Very, very sick. Glen, tragically your 21-month-old son was killed in a DUI accident. I can`t imagine the pain and the anger that you have felt. And I would have to imagine that when you see this kind of recklessness it makes your blood boil, specifically when you see repeat offenders like Kiefer Sutherland, like Nicole Richie.
GLYNN BIRCH, NATIONAL PRESIDENT, MADD Yes, I`m outraged when I hear the repeat offenses. You know, it was three prior convictions that the driver had when he killed my son. And to have four -- as we know, at least four convictions; yes, you wonder do we have to commit murder before we`re able to legislate a law that will require alcohol admission interlocks placed on all convicted drunk drivers. We know it works and here`s another case. If we had it the first time, we would not be in the situation as we are right now.
ANDERSON: You know, there is the perception sometimes that celebrities get off easy. I mean, look at Nicole Richie, caught for a second time; she winds up spending a mind-boggling 82 minutes -- 82 minutes in jail! David, what kind of signal do you think this sends to every day folks? Does it send the signal that hey, don`t worry, you`ll be just be inconvenienced a little bit.
CAPLAN: No, definitely. It sends a message that hey, you can do what you want and it won`t take a lot of time out of your life. Unfortunately, a lot of people don`t think the rules apply to the masses. Celebrities often get off and it`s weird, because it sends a message, especially in L.A., that it doesn`t seem to really matter if you get busted for DUI. The consequences are not that severe.
ANDERSON: It`s awful. When Paris Hilton served 23 days in jail for her parole violation for the DUI arrest, a lot of people said that was extreme. But Glynn, should judges use celebrities -- what do you think -- as an opportunity to send a message that this is serious stuff. Don`t even think about drinking and driving. In other words, you know, kind of make them poster children, what not to do?
BIRCH: Well, celebrities and no one is above the law. When we take a look at the case of Paris Hilton. Our office was flooded with calls when we had the early release. Now we have a person such as Kiefer Sutherland who has had prior convicts and spent very little time in jail. No, people continue to drink and drive today because they can. We need to have the legislation passed to have a alcohol admission interlock placed in a car that would not allow a person to drive if they`re drunk.
ANDERSON: Sounds like a good idea to me. When "Prison Break" star Lane Garrison was sentenced to jail -- and keep in mind, someone died in his accident -- he made a powerful public service announcement. Let`s take a look at it.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
LANE GARRISON, "PRISON BREAK": -- driven after having a few drinks. If you answered yes, you we`re lucky, lucky you didn`t get into an accident, lucky you didn`t die, lucky you didn`t kill anyone.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: Do you think these kinds of things really make a difference and influence people in the right way? What do you think?
CAPLAN: Yes, I think to a certain degree they do when you see an actor like Lane Garrison make an effort with the PSA. It influences people a little bit and you see these teary confessions and oh, I feel so bad. But a lot of people roll their eyes a little bit and they question the sympathy there.
ANDERSON: Glynn, what do you think? Do they make a difference? Do they influence people, impact people`s decisions going forward?
BIRCH: You know, if they had heard the stories that we hear at MADD - - last year alone we served over 46,000 victims who don`t have another chance to start all over, to live their day differently. These are injuries, over half a million, 500,000 injuries per year. And if we`re happy with losing 13,500 people due to drunk driving every year, if you`re happy with that, then we`re OK.
I don`t think so. America has proven that they`re not happy, but we`ve got to do something and we`ve got to do it legislatively and that is to pass a new law. And we would love anyone and everyone to show their support by going our website at MADD.org to find out about the campaign to eliminate drunk driving. We can do it.
ANDERSON: MADD.org, Glynn Birch, David Caplan, thank you for speaking on the topic with us. We appreciate it.
Now we want to hear from you. It is our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT question of the day. Kiefer Sutherland`s DUI arrest; if convicted, should he go to jail? Vote at CNN.com/SHOWBIZTONIGHT. Send us an e-mail, SHOWBIZTONIGHT@CNN.com.
OK, I want you to take a look at this. It`s a shocking ad rocking the fashion industry. I almost can`t bare to look. It`s the startling, almost unbelievable image of an anorexic model. Tonight, how the disturbing pictures are causing worldwide outrage and controversy. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT with anger over the anorexic ad. Also this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Is anybody bleeding from anywhere?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Just cuts and scrapes. It seems like her leg is busted, maybe.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: The frightening 911 call made after George Clooney`s scary motorcycle accident. I bet George`s agent flipped out when he heard about this. Tonight, we have got the frantic tape that you`ve just got to hear coming up.
And Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake; their careers started off the same, the "Mickey Mouse Club." They even dated. They were so sweet. So how did Justin end up so successful, bringing sexy back, while Britney has brought trashy back. What a mess. Britney versus Justin at 30 after.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
ANDERSON: Now the uproar over the shocking new fashion ads featuring an anorexic woman splashed all over billboards in Italy. The campaign was designed to help end eating disorders. Last year Madrid`s fashion week banned models with a body mass index of below 18 from its cat walk and the Italian city of Milan soon followed by mandating no underage and no underweight models as well.
I have to warn you, the photos you`re about to see are very disturbing. Here`s CNN`s Phil Black for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
PHIL BLACK, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Twenty seven years old, weighing just 31 kilograms, or about 65 pounds. This is Isabelle Caro (ph). She has become the unlikely face and body of Italian fashion. On billboards, in publications, her figure is featured next to the words, no anorexia, and the logo for fashion label Nolita. Public health campaign or publicity stunt? Perhaps both.
It is the work of photographer Oliviero Toscani who has a reputation for being provocative.
OLIVIERO TOSCANI, PHOTOGRAPHER: You can do advertising not just by doing stupid advertising, by (INAUDIBLE) something that could help the discussion about what`s going on in the world of fashion.
BLACK: The Italian government and major fashion designers have backed this campaign. It`s designed to coincide with Milan`s fashion week, where a code of conduct now bans underage and underweight models.
ROSITA MISSONI, DESIGNER: It`s a huge problem for young people. It`s not to be hidden. We have to talk about it and try to find a way to fight it.
BLACK: But health experts fear it could be counter-productive, encouraging eating disorders.
DR ISABELLA SPINELLI, ANOREXIA SPECIALIST (through translator): This kind of campaign has two sides. On the one side, attracting some people to these sort of phenomenons. The other side is leading to a serious debate.
BLACK: Cara has suffered anorexia for 15 years and doesn`t blame the fashion industry. She`s told Italy`s "Vanity Fair" she did this to help others; "I hid myself and covered myself up for too long. Now I want to show myself without fear, even though I know my body is repugnant."
An illness stripped bare to promote thought and discussion. So far it`s been successful.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
ANDERSON: Those images are so very disturbing. That was Phil Black for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. And some interesting background on the photographer Oliviero Toscani, who shot this controversial ad campaign; Toscani shot another provocative campaign back in 1992. It was the famous Benetton ad featuring a man dying of AIDS.
Well, a lot of people have been worried about Keira Knightley`s weight. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star had been showing up to red carpets looking pretty skinny. But she insists that`s just the way she is built and that she does not have an eating disorder. In a revealing chat with a magazine, Keira says, I haven`t got a clue about how much I weigh. I do not own any scales and I have noticed it creates an anger in people who are not skinny. People like to blame their insecurities on other people.
She goes on to add, "I hate red carpet events. I absolutely hate them. I`m not wonder woman. I have self-esteem problems, everybody does. You know, skinny people are allowed to feel blank about themselves."
Body image is a tough subject for Keira. She also revealed her grandmother and great-grandmother were anorexic. Read more of Keira Knightley`s interview in the October issue of "Allure." It is on sale now.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Is anybody bleeding from anywhere?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Just cuts and scrapes. It seems like her leg is busted, maybe.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: I was surprised to hear George was still riding, considering how important his career is. Tonight we`ve got the frantic tape that you have just got to listen to. That`s straight ahead.
Paris Hilton isn`t hopping on a hog, but she is planning to hop on a flight. You won`t believe where she`s going to try to make good on her promise to do some charity work. Yes, I`ll believe that when I see it. Hopefully she`s doing it. And what`s also hard to believe, how much of a mess Britney Spears is. She was such a sweet, innocent girl. Her boyfriend was fellow "Mickey Mouse Club" star Justin Timberlake.
So why has J.T. gone down the right path, while Britney is a train wreck? We have a revealing look at Britney versus Justin at 30 past the hour. You don`t want to miss it.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
ANDERSON: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Paris may be keeping her promise to help others after all. She`s reportedly planning a trip to Rwanda. All right, I admit it, we were all a little skeptical around here when Paris told Larry King that jail had changed her and she wanted to do more than party. Remember that? Here`s what she said.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
PARIS HILTON, "THE SIMPLE LIFE": I feel like, you know, being in the spotlight I have a platform where I can raise awareness for so many great causes and just do so much with this instead of, you know, superficial things like going out. I want to help raise money for kids and for breast cancer and multiple sclerosis.
LARRY KING, CNN ANCHOR: You want to get involved in all this?
HILTON: Yes.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: Now, Paris tells E Online that she`s going to Rwanda in November. She says she feels like if she goes she can bring more attention to what people can do to help poverty and children`s issues. Paris will reportedly be going to Rwanda as part of an organization called Playing For Good, which helps stars and business executives get involved with charity. Good for Paris.
OK, well, a guy who does plenty of charity work on his own, George Clooney. Tonight, I`ve got the frightening 911 call that was made right after his motorcycle accident.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Is anybody bleeding from anywhere?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Just cuts and scrapes. It seems like her leg is busted maybe.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: So scary. I`m glad George and his girlfriend are back on their feet. You have to hear this tape, though. They were very, very lucky.
All right, one of the most bizarre Hollywood breakups, Bon Jovi guitarist Richey Sambora and Heather Locklear. Remember, Heather`s best friend at the time Denise Richards dated Richey right after that. Tonight, Heather is speaking out and I`ll bet you will be very surprised to hear what she thinks about her ex.
Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, I thought they were the cutest couple. But boy, how times have changed. Justin is a superstar. Britney is a super train wreck. What happened? Britney versus Justin coming up next. Keep it here.
(NEWS BREAK)

ANDERSON: On SHOWBIZ TONIGHT George Clooney`s motorcycle accident with his girlfriend; the dramatic 911 call.

ANDERSON: Tonight SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has the phone call that police received right after George Clooney and his girlfriend got into a motorcycle accident in New Jersey.
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It is 30 minutes past the hour. I`m Brooke Anderson in New York. A.J. has the night off. You are watching TV`s most provocative entertainment news show.
Tonight, the dramatic 911 call made after George Clooney got into a scary motorcycle accident. Clooney and his girlfriend, Sarah Larson were riding his bike in New Jersey when he collided with another car. TMZ got a hold of the frightening tape. The call was made by a Good Samaritan who called to help and you can hear George and Sarah at the end of it if you listen really closely.
(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Is anybody bleeding from anywhere?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Just cuts and scrapes. It seems like her leg`s busted. maybe?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I mean only one -- are you the driver? Are you the driver? It`s not busted, yeah. I saw her fall off --
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Sir, Sir, Sir, are you injured?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I`m not the one. I`m calling -- I was driving in my car and I stopped.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Oh, I see what you`re saying. You stopped to help. I understand now, thank you sir. But listen, everybody is awake and breathing, right?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, everyone is awake and oriented. Yes.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK, did he hit a wall or anything, just fell off the bike?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She flew off the bike and hit the sidewalk.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK, did --
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK, I`m here with a detective.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: OK, the police are there?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: They are trying to keep me on the line.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Sir.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Can I get off and help, please?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Sir, this is what I need you to do -- I need to tell you what to do.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You need what?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Just make sure that nobody moves them around.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yeah, yeah. I know. OK, I will do that -- make sure you don`t move, OK?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Help is already on the way, Sir.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: All right, OK. I`m here with a detective, it`s OK.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: They have -- Sir?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Make sure that nobody gives them anything to eat or drink.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yeah, no problem. They`re on the sidewalk. They`re fine.
(END AUDIO CLIP)
ANDERSON: By the way, it`s also interesting it didn`t seem that anyone knew that such a huge star was involved. The police aren`t pressing charges against anyone since both Clooney and the driver are telling very different stories.
Somebody dial 911 -- Britney Spears is having an emergency of her own. You know between her personal life and her music career, we`re not sure which is falling apart faster. We here at SHOWBIZ TONIGHT couldn`t help but notice that life for Britney`s ex, Justin Timberlake, looks rosier than ever. Tonight, a SHOWBIZ TONIGHT special report, "Britney versus Justin".
Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake started on the exact same path. They were a couple, but their lives have gone in such dramatically different directions. It`s almost unbelievable. Take a look.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
ANDERSON (voice over): It`s not just a cliche to say Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake grew up in the spotlight. Both Britney and Justin were just 10 and 11 years old when they starred in "The New "Mickey Mouse Club". It wasn`t long before they were both riding high at the top of the pop charts.
Britney`s first single "Baby One More Time" earned 9 million sales worldwide. At the same time, her soon-to-be boyfriend Justin was in one of the hottest boy bands.
N`Sync`s debut album sold over 10 million copies, but stardom for Britney and Justin wasn`t just happening on stage. They became the darlings of the red carpet, considered the hottest couple in music. Fast forward almost six years.
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE (SINGING): I`m bringing sexy back.
ANDERSON: Justin is a successful solo artist whose life seems more charmed than ever, but his ex-girlfriend Britney is floundering in the middle of scandal after scandal. From her personal life to her music, Britney`s road has taken a very different turn.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
ANDERSON: So what happened? Where did Britney go wrong and what did Justin do right? With me tonight in Hollywood is Kim Sarafin, senior editor for "In Touch Weekly" and in New York celebrity journalist David Caplan.
David, Kim, that`s the big question. What happened?
Kim, I want to know was there one turning point we can point to and say that was the moment that Britney zigged left and Justin zigged right?
KIM SARAFIN, SR. EDITOR, "IN TOUCH WEEKLY": I think it was a combination, but I really think it was when Britney`s personal life began to overtake her professional life. You began to see mentions of her in the news, in the press more for her partying with Paris Hilton. More for her marrying her high school sweetheart in Vegas and then marrying Kevin Federline and then being pregnant, and being photographed without underwear on. So those began to overtake her music and her career.
Now, Justin, on the other hand, yes, he ends up in the news. We know he dated Cameron Diaz and we know he`s dating Jessica Biehl right now. But even when Justin`s had minor controversies, event the incidents with the Janet Jackson`s "Super Bowl" incident, he`s handled them in a different way. He`s come out right away, or he came out right after that and apologized. Came off very sincere.
When Britney has a little incident sometimes you get a rambling message on her website with lots of misspellings and lots of grammatical errors.
ANDERSON: Yeah, a lot of inconsistencies there.
SARAFIN: So, even in the way they`ve handled it.
ANDERSON: Yeah, exactly. I have to tell you, I would have never predicted that Britney and Justin would have ended up on such different sides of notoriety. I want to listen to something Justin told Oprah about avoiding the pitfalls of stardom. Listen to this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
TIMBERLAKE: It`s just that moment where you`re like, this could go this way, or this way, and sometimes I think, you know moment when you fall.
OPRAH WINFREY, TALK SHOW HOST: OK, what was the -- have you had those moments where it can go this way, or it can go that way?
TIMBERLAKE: Sure. Sure.
WINFREY: Yeah.
TIMBERLAKE: We`ve all had those moments.
WINFREY: Some people went that way.
TIMBERLAKE: I just get to live mine out on television.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: Justin and Britney both famous. They both had to deal with the media crush. David, why does fame seem to have taken such a toll on Britney, but not on Justin?
DAVID CAPLAN, CELEBRITY JOURNALIST: I think because she sets herself up. She definitely enjoys the attention. It`s a known fact in Hollywood that she calls paparazzi, that she likes to be photographed.
And also with Britney, every time she has sort of these personal meltdowns or personal issues, whether it`s a split, or marrying Kevin Federline, it really encompasses her whole life. Like being Britney, essentially, becomes that personal scandal. Where with Justin, he just really manages to balances it well. I spoke to a friend of Justin`s before, who said that he also went through a period where it was really rocky with him a few years ago. He was partying a lot. But with male stars, for some reason, it seems, they just have sort of better handlers around them, the people around them, like to keep a better grip on them to make sure they don`t slide and have those pitfalls.
ANDERSON: He handles it with a sense of humor as we just saw there with Oprah. As we know, the recent years have not been the best of times for Britney and her relationship with her mother. Not the same for Justin. Let listen to what he told Oprah about that.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
WINFREY: So what has kept you grounded, would you say?
TIMBERLAKE: My mom.
WINFREY: Your mom.
TIMBERLAKE: Definitely.
(APPLAUSE)
WINFREY: There is Justin`s mom, Lynn.
What are you proudest of about Justin, Lynn?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: That he is so well grounded. That he`s a good person.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: There you just saw Justin with his mother, but Britney has reportedly alienated her mom. Kim, could that be another big reason for Britney`s troubles compared to how Justin has held up?
SARAFIN: Oh, sure, absolutely. You look at the people surrounding Britney right now -- and a lot of people from her childhood, most importantly her mom -- but also her old assistant Felicia, her old manager Larry Rudolph. The people that were sort of there with her at the beginning, they`re not around anymore.
Whereas with Justin, he`s still friends with the guys with N`Sync. He still collaborates with J.C. Shazea (ph). He started a clothing company with his friend from childhood, Trace. It`s a very successful clothing company. His mom was right there in the audience with him. He took his mom, as a date, to the "Alpha Dog" premiere, that he starred in, the movie he starred in.
So, there`s a definite difference there. And I think probable if Britney`s mom was more in her life, if she allowed her to get back in her life that would definitely help. Right now Britney is surrounded by people, a lot of yes men, a lot of people who want to latch on to her celebrity right now.
ANDERSON: Yeah, Justin has really kept himself surrounded by good, solid people. We have to remember that Britney and Justin were just teenagers when they started dating. Still there was always this kind of fairytale vibe that surrounded them.
David, I have to wonder, what do you think, is Britney just kicking herself and Justin just relieved that he got out when he did?
CAPLAN: Exactly. That`s exactly how I`d describe it. I`m sure Britney -- you know, sometimes she`s like, oh, I wish I could be with Justin again. But Justin is not looking back. This is a relationship they had when they were teens. Everyone has moved on. He`s had a series of girlfriends since then, and you know, it`s over now. And they all , both, have to move on.
ANDERSON: He seems very happy. And is certainly, obviously, and very, very successful at this point. Kim Sarafin of "In Touch Weekly" and celebrity journalist David Caplan, thank you both.
SERAFIN: Thanks.
ANDERSON: Now onto another pair of celebrity exes, Heather Locklear and Richie Sambora. Heather is speaking out like never before about her relationship with Richie and how they manage it, now that they`re broken up and have a daughter together. I think Britney and Kevin could take a lesson from that. That`s coming up.
Plus, Donald Trump calls Dan Rather a loser. OK, I think we all pretty expect Donald to call people names, that this point. But wait until you hear what Rather`s new boss has to say about Donald. You won`t want to miss that.
Also this:
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
HAYDEN PANETTIERE, ACTRESS: Sometimes I have those days where you wake up and you`re, like, Oh, my God, I look so horrible. I can`t take it. I look fat in everything!
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: Yes, even Hayden Panettiere has those days. She really opened up to me about the pressure to be thin in Hollywood, and the pressures of being the "it girl". My revealing chat with Hayden coming up in the interview you`ll will see only right here on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.
Time now for the SHOWBIZ "News Quiz". I want you to take a look at this video. These are firefighters -- here they are -- in Switzerland, performing a rap song. What do you think the Swiss firefighters are rapping about? Is it, A, the importance of changing the batteries in smoke alarms? B, how to prevent forest fires? C, Switzerland`s emergency telephone number? Or D, hot chocolate? We`ll be right back with that.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
ANDERSON: It is time now for the answer to the SHOWBIZ "News Quiz".
(MUSIC VIDEO/PSA BEGINS)
ANDERSON: They`re pretty good, right? Before the break we showed you these firefighters in Switzerland performing a rap song. And we asked you what you think they`re rapping about, Is it, A, the importance of changing the batteries in smoke detectors? B, how to prevent forest fires? C, Switzerland`s emergency telephone number? Or D, hot chocolate?
The answer is C, Switzerland`s emergency telephone number, which, for the record is 118.
Donald Trump ripping into Dan Rather, but Dan has at least one guy who`s sticking up for him. Tonight the war of words swirling around Donald Trump has a new gun. OK, this all started when Donald said Dan Rather is a loser because he`s suing CBS for $70 million.
Enter Mark Cuban, the man behind HD Net and Rather`s new boss on Dan Rather Reports. Cuban is on "Dancing with the Stars" now and "Access Hollywood`s" Tony Potts asked him what he thought about Donald`s comment about Dan Rather. Take a look at this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MARK CUBAN, HD NET: Donald Trump is a first-class idiot. You know what? Nothing he says that comes out of his mouth has any validity or any value. You know, he just throws it from the hip, that`s fine for him. But the reality is you can`t go back and say Donald Trump, you`re so successful at anything other than one thing. Trump water, Trump magazine, Trump dolls, what else? Trump steaks, Trump vodka?
When you`re so desperate to make a dollar, you have to put your name on everything? And then you have to comment on everything, because you know unless you can do it on your own you have to build everything based off of denigrating something else. That`s the definition of a loser.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: There you go. His dancing partner looked stunned. It should be interesting to see how Donald Trump responds. Why do I get the feeling he may use the word loser again.
I can tell you the definition of a winner, it is Hayden Panettiere. The "Heroes" star opened up about what it`s really like to be a Hollywood "it girl" from going to the glitzy parties to the pressure to stay thin. I gotta tell you, it was really refreshing to hear an honest, no holds barred account of the pressures of young Hollywood. This is an interview you won`t want to miss. It is Part II of SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Hayden Panettiere bonanza.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
ANDERSON: You have faced some challenges, now that you are in the limelight, and I know that tabloids come out with a lot of stories about you probably -- very few -- if any -- are true. Do you mind it? Do you read them just for fun?
HAYDEN PANETTIERRE, ACTRESS: You know, I think I try to avoid it. I think that`s the best way to kind of keep your head on straight in this business is not to read the blog on the Internet, not to look at any of the rag mags. Just because it can make you feel really bad.
I`ve read a lot of things about myself that just -- even though they`re not true, even though you kind of look at it and say it`s ridiculous. It really does impact you. Especially as a young, teenaged girl who, you know, we all have our insecurities. We`re all not perfect. And for -- to have someone constantly pointing out every flaw is not fun.
It`s like body images in this business. I`m not a stick figure, stick skinny girl. I was always an athlete. I was always built. I went through my definitely chunky phase. I`m -- you know, not perfect. And for somebody to sit on the other side of a computer, somebody who is typing up the magazines, to constantly critique me. And say oh, she looks fat in that dress. Or she looks, you know, too thin, too thick, too tall, too short.
It`s amazing to me. It`s amazing that people feel that they have the right to judge you like that, and write these stories, and not even really ask you. And if they do, it`s like write the story, and then say, "but she denies it", at the end.
But you try your best. You don`t read it. You surround yourself with people who love you, who care about you, who tell you good things about yourself, and it`s tough. It`s tough.
ANDERSON: No matter how thick your skin is, it`s got to be tough.
PANETTIERE: But some of the stories that they`ve come up with are really funny. Really funny. I saw one the other day that was -- I threatened to kill a reporter.
ANDERSON: Oh, gee!
PANETTIERE: You know, figure of speech. I`m sure you`re aware of it, like, oh, I`m going to kill you!
ANDERSON: Right, of course.
PANETTEIRE: I used that once to somebody who did not such a nice thing to me. And it was like in passing -- not even like mean, and apparently I was going to --
(LAUGHTER)
PANETTIERE: Gonna kill her!
ANDERSON: Oh, no. Taken out of context.
PANETTIERE: Yes.
ANDERSON: Oh, that`s tough. That`s got to be hard.
PANETTIERE: Yeah.
ANDERSON: You mentioned, you know, the body image pressures. Do you feel those pressures? You`re great. You look healthy, you look beautiful.
PANETTIERE: Thank you.
ANDERSON: But do you feel those pressures?
PANETTIERE: Absolutely. I`m -- people may watch me on TV. People may see me walking down the street and have paparazzi and the glamorous life, but I`m absolutely as normal as they come. I have every insecurity that any teenage girl has. I went through it all. I went through high school. I hung out with friends. I`m from Rocklin County, New York, which is outside of the city, outside of any sort of scene. And, you know, I -- I did it all.
I have the same feelings as any other girl. It`s completely normal. Sometimes I have those days where you wake up, and you`re, like, oh, my god. I look so horrible. I can`t take it. I look fat in everything. You know? You have it. And I absolutely -- there`s no exception. No exception for me.
ANDERSON: They say in Hollywood that it`s easy to get addicted to fame and everything that goes along with it. What`s your take on that?
PANETTIERE: I think it`s true. I`ve seen it. You know, I`ve definitely seen a lot of what happens and how glamorous the inside of it can look. And, you know, how people get into drugs easily. How people get into the party scene. And in order to be in the party scene and stay up in the party scene, you almost can`t survive without those drugs. Because -- I mean, it`s that constant going, going.
I mean, I stepped for five minutes into a place and just gone, Oh, my God. I can`t hear myself think. I hate this. I`m exhausted already, my feet are tired. It`s just -- it`s a way of life. And it gets you so trapped and kind of backed into a corner. And when you constantly have cameras in your face, and all of a sudden everyone is so interested and you`re enjoying this limelight. And then everyone disappears it`s, like, oh, do they not -- do they not want to know what I`m doing anymore?
ANDERSON: There`s the insecurity.
PANETTIERE: You know, you feel the need to go and -- and do something and to make them come back. You know, they feel like they`re not loved, you`re not liked or -- or -- not interesting enough if they`re not there. And it`s sad that people think that they have to -- that that`s the only love that they can get from people is, you know, people interested in what they`re doing, while they`re walking their dogs down the side of the street.
ANDERSON: Looking for superficial attention and love.
PANETTIERE: Uh-huh.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
ANDERSON: Hayden certainly doesn`t need to worry about that happening to her. She`s just 18 years old and wise beyond her years. She`s got the whole Hollywood thing in great perspective. And she told me that her mom has been her greatest strength in her rise to fame.

Heather Locklear says she has found love and things are going great with her former "Melrose Place" co-star Jack Wagner. But she`s also speaking out about how she and her ex, Richie Sambora keep things civil for the sake of their daughter.
Heather and Richie were married for 11 years. And as you may remember, she went through a tough period after their breakup because Richie started dating Heather`s best friend Denise Richards.
But Heather tells "People" magazine that she has managed to stay friends with Richie. She says, quote, "I love Richie and nothing`s going stop that. There are certainly rough spots. We try our best. We`re human. I think for kids you just have to show that the main thing is mommy and daddy`s breakup is between the two of us."
For more with Heather Locklear pick up a copy of "People" magazine. It is on newsstands Friday.
So it seems Heather is taking the high road and wish we could say the same for her former friend, Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen. Those two have been relentless in airing their dirty laundry in public as they battle over custody of their two kids.
