HAMMER: Hello, I`m A.J. Hammer, coming to you from New York City with big news breaking today - the porn star`s ultimate drama.
Jenna Jameson is easily the best known porn star in the world. Against all odds, she turned adult film into a one-woman, multimillion dollar enterprise. And now, after putting porn in her past, Jenna amazingly transformed herself into a household name, even getting an invite to sit down with Oprah Winfrey.
But today, Jenna`s outrageous personal drama is what is stealing the spotlight. Her boyfriend arrested - an ultimate fighting, mixed martial arts champion arrested, accused of hitting her.
He denies it while accusing her of having a drug problem. Well, now, she is fighting back against his claims. This whole thing is a made-for- Hollywood plot that seems to be far from a happy ending.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
(voice-over): Former porn star, Jenna Jameson, and Ultimate Fighting Championship star, Tito Ortiz, locked in a bitter he said/she said today. And it`s all caught on tape.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I want to be quite clear, Tito Ortiz never laid a hand on Jenna - never.
JAMESON: I feel so - I`m devastated. I miss Tito. This is the problem with domestic abuse.
HAMMER: Ortiz was arrested Monday morning on suspicion of domestic violence after an altercation at the Hollywood home he shares with Jenna and their twin boys. Around 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Jenna denied that Tito had laid a hand on her.
JAMESON: It hurts me to think that everybody out there thinks that he`d beat me.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Watch out, guys. We`re opening the gate.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Oh, OK.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What happened? What really happened?
JAMESON: He did not beat me.
HAMMER: At 9:30 p.m., Tito gave an emotional press conference with his lawyer and revealed a shocking claim, that the real fight was over Jenna`s alleged addiction to OxyContin.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Unfortunately, Jenna relapsed and suffered the consequences of that. We`re here because Tito was trying to help her.
HAMMER: By 10:00 p.m., when Jenna heard Tito`s drug addiction claims, here`s what she said -
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Tito just publicized in a press conference - he said you are addicted to saying you are addicted to OxyContin - that`s what he`s saying.
JAMESON: Talk about trying to save somebody`s (EXPLETIVE DELETED) for being a wife beater.
HAMMER: Jenna and Tito have been together for six years. In happier times, they were light-hearted and funny on the red carpet.
ORTIZ: For me, as a man, you know, I wake up every day and tell how beautiful she is, you know. And she walks around in little underwear, and I`m just like, "You`ve got such a nice butt."
JAMES: And that`s what keeps me like happy, I am telling you.
HAMMER: Jenna made her name as a porn star who ultimately went mainstream.
NINA PARKER, PRODUCER, TMZ: Jenna Jameson is one of the few people in the adult entertainment industry that has been able to kind of go over into mainstream Hollywood. She`s transitioned successfully and a lot of people are fascinated on how she was able to do that.
HAMMER: Her big break into America`s living rooms came in November when she gave an emotional interview to Oprah talking about her struggle with being a former porn star and a mother.
JAMESON: I knew that I was going to be a mother having to answer those questions. I don`t know exactly what I`m going to say to my sons. But I do know that I want them to understand that their mother loves them.
HAMMER: Now, with such turbulence on the home front, Jenna`s children are at the center of this very public battle.
MIDWIN CHARLES, LEGAL CONTRIBUTOR, "IN SESSION" ON TRU TV: There`s a restraining order out against Tito, which means he`s not supposed to go anywhere near Jenna Jameson. Now, it is possible that they may try to reconcile and she can go into court and ask the judge for the restraining to either be lifted and/or modified because they are parents.
HAMMER: Reconciliation is something both Jenna and Tito are talking about. At the press conference when a reporter asked Tito and his lawyer about his future with Jenna, he simply broke down.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: They have two children together. They have planned on spending their lives together, and they want nothing more than to work together. Thank you.
HAMMER: Even though charges against Tito could still be filed, Jenna tells TMZ she also wants to try to make it work.
JAMESON: For the sake of the children, we definitely need to talk.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You got to try to work things out maybe?
JAMES: I hope so.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
HAMMER: Late today, Jenna`s attorney told SHOWBIZ TONIGHT that Jenna and Tito may work things out if he stops with his verbal assaults which followed his physical ones. I`ve got to tell you this whole thing is shaping up to be a really disturbing case of he said/she said then she said again.
With me in New York right now, Jane Velez-Mitchell, host of "ISSUES WITH JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL" right here on HLN. Jane is also the author of this excellent book, "I Want." In Hollywood is Jim Moret, who is the chief correspondent of "Inside Edition." Jim is also author of a fine book. This one is called, "The Last Day of My Life."
This whole thing is just a made-for-Hollywood story. You`ve got a guy who beats people up for a living accused of beating up the most famous porn star in the world. Jane, I would never minimize domestic violence which is what`s being alleged here.
But you can`t make this stuff up. As outrageous as the whole idea of this sounds, this could have a very bad ending.
JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL, HOST, "ISSUES WITH JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL": Yes, especially because they have those adorable twin sons, one year old. How sad for them. And, also, they both have a whole lot to lose, A.J.
He`s got Ultimate Fighting. She is not just a porn actress anymore. She is at the helm of a multimillion dollar industry. The problem is this is a classic he said/she said. Is one lying and the other telling the truth? Or is it a combination of both stories? We really do not know what happened behind closed doors.
HAMMER: No, we don`t. And for his part, I`ve got to say Tito Ortiz looked very shaken up at this press conference that he held with his attorney.
But what I think was really disturbing was what he`s claiming happened behind closed doors. I want you to watch what his attorney said about that.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We`re here because, unfortunately, Jenna Jameson has been facing and fighting a battle with OxyContin addiction for well over a year.
Unfortunately, this morning, when Jenna relapsed and Tito confronted her and asked her about the drugs he had found, she denied it and had some emotional breakdown over it.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: So even though Tito is claiming this whole incident stems from Jenna`s alleged drug problem, if Tito was violent towards Jenna in any way, Jim, obviously, there is no justification for that. And he could very well be in a heap of trouble regardless of what he`s saying.
JIM MORET, CHIEF CORRESPONDENT, "INSIDE EDITION": He could, whether she agrees to testify and work with authorities or not. Look, there`s going to be an investigation. It`s not just what he said and what she said.
You`ve got police involved now. They could hand the case over to the district attorney. They will do their own investigation so there`s another party really involved now and a third party, a disinterested party, that being law enforcement. They want to get to the bottom of this.
Because if there is evidence that she was abused in any way, Tito, as you suggested, could face some serious legal problems whether or not she agrees to participate in this investigation.
HAMMER: Yes. And I suppose we shouldn`t be surprised how quickly and instantly this whole thing went public with the statements on TMZ and, of course, the press conference that Tito held.
And a lot of people were skeptical about him holding this press conference, Jane. But if he is wrongly accused, I mean, can you blame a guy for standing up to defend his reputation even if it meant what appeared to be an accusation of drug use by Jenna?
VELEZ-MITCHELL: Absolutely not. And what I found fascinating at the news conference - his attorney was asked, well, Jenna appeared in a sling. And the attorney implies that she went to a pharmacy and bought the sling and walked out with it.
So I would really like to know whether or not she went to the hospital. That`s an important question. On top of that, they both have histories. He has pleaded guilty in the past to battery. And she has talked openly about her previous drug use in her book, "How to Make Love Like a Porn Star." She even makes reference to crystal meth.
HAMMER: Well, let me ask you this. If, in fact, drugs did play a role in this or maybe they didn`t play a role in this at all, but she hasn`t denied it yet, should she be speaking out?
VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, I think if drugs played a role, she should acknowledge that, if that`s the truth. It`s no excuse for domestic abuse. There is no excuse.
HAMMER: Right.
VELEZ-MITCHELL: But if drugs is an issue, especially with one-year-old kids, she should get help for that.
HAMMER: Quickly, Jim. Do you think that Jenna -
MORET: A.J. -
HAMMER: Do you - go ahead.
MORET: Well, I would say what complicates this - Jane mentioned those kids. You are not simply talking about a couple here. You`re talking about in the case, say with Charlie Sheen, you`ve got children involved.
You have right now a restraining order. He`s the father of those children. He wants to be with those children. She`s the mother. Is she a fit mother? Is he a fit father?
HAMMER: Yes.
MORET: Do they have to be taken from the house?
HAMMER: Complicated situation, indeed. Well, we move on from that to another family drama playing out in Hollywood. I think, about to hit a whole dangerous new level. Lindsay Lohan`s parents have waged a bitter new war over Lindsay. Lindsay`s dad is now making his own appeal to the media.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MICHAEL LOHAN, FATHER OF LINDSAY LOHAN: All I ever wanted was for my daughter to have her life back, that`s all I want. I want her to have her life back.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT with the burning questions. Are the Lohans courting disaster? Jane Velez-Mitchell, Jim Moret, stay right where you are.
Well, as we move to John Mayer`s shocking anti-Twitter rant today.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JOHN MAYER, SINGER: Well, someone had told me when I first thought about signing up for Twitter, sign up for this thing, you`ll get half a million haters.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: John`s big decision - will he stay or take his tweets and go? Can the Twitter-verse possibly survive being Mayer-less?
They shake. They jiggle. They even knock some people right off their feet. I`m talking about earthquakes. And I`m also talking about women`s breasts. Is there really a connection?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Boobquake! Boobquake! Boobquake!
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: we`re out here showing that if dressing immodestly causes earthquakes, we want to see some evidence.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views. Now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.
TEXT: Matt Damon`s wife pregnant with the couple`s third child. Hugh Hefner donates $900,000 to save iconic "Hollywood" sign.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.
All right. Did you see this? Everyone is buzzing about boobquake today. What the heck is boobquake? Well, an Iranian cleric seems to suggest that women dressing in skimpy outfits cause earthquakes.
So a Purdue University student put her bosom and the bosoms of many others to the test. Here now is CNN`s Jeanne Moos for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
JEANNE MOOS, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Exposing cleavage in the name of science?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I don`t have cleavage though. So I think I`m going to duct tape.
MOOS: There is a name for this behavior.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Boobquake! Boobquake! Boobquake!
MOOS: Little did an Iranian cleric would know how his words would rattle some women when he suggested that women who dress provocatively tempt people into promiscuity which increases earthquakes?
Which brings us to Purdue University student and self-described nerdy geek, Jennifer McCreight.
(on camera): What you would you estimate the magnitude of your cleavage to be today?
JENNIFER MCCREIGHT, PURDUE UNIVERSITY STUDENT: May like a seven or something.
MOOS (voice-over): Jennifer dreamed up boobquake on her blog as a joke declaring Monday boobquake day.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: And you shake it all about -
MOOS: From Purdue to Washington, D.C., women showed a bit more decollatage than usual.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: We are out here showing that if dressing immodestly causes earthquakes, we want to see some evidence.
MOOS: Jennifer is compiling data.
(on camera): So you`ll be checking for seismic activity related to showing a cleavage?
MCCREIGHT: Yes. We`ll compare it with past seismic activity. Hopefully, we don`t destroy the world.
MOOS (voice-over): Seems like they might.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Boom in Iran. Boom in South Africa.
MOOS: We in the press sure treated it like earth-shaking news outnumbering the actual boobquakers. A handful of Jennifer`s friends surrounded her in a show of support during our Skype interview.
(on camera): Can you see me? I`m feeling overdressed. There were boobquake T-shirts. "Did the earth move for you?" I survived boobquake 2010. There was a song.
(SINGING)
MOOS: Talk about getting rocked.
(on camera): Breaking news an earthquake struck Taiwan Monday morning at a magnitude of 6.5. It caused buildings to sway, but no major damage. This is no joke. There really was an earthquake Monday in Taiwan.
(voice-over): But was this responsible for the seismic activity.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Well, some boys have told me I`ve rocked their world but I don`t think so.
MOOS: Just to be safe, beware what you wear.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Thank you.
(on camera): No, thank you. Watch where you point that webcam.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
HAMMER: OK. Well, that was CNN`s Jeanne Moos for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. And today, the ladies of "The View" got to talking about boobquake. And they think the theory is flawed because they, for one, have seen no seismic activity.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
SHERRI SHEPHERD, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": There have been no earthquakes in New York since I`ve lived here.
WHOOPI GOLDBERG, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": Sherri`s (INAUDIBLE). She`s not going to cause an earthquake. She`s going to make the world sigh.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: There you go. Moving on the "Showbiz on Call" phone lines which have been literally shaking with people calling in about Lindsay Lohan and her latest family drama. We`ve got this call into "Showbiz on Call" from Miracle in Georgia who thinks that Michael Lohan is in it to save Lindsay.
(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)
CALLER: I really feel like we haven`t seen Lindsay Lohan in any movies doing anything. So her dad really can`t be doing this for the money. It seems like he really might be sincere about this because she pretty much bottomed out with nothing left. And that`s when your family should step in. It`s when you have nothing else and no one else to turn to.
(END AUDIO CLIP)
HAMMER: Thanks for your call, Miracle. Sandra from California thinks that Lindsay needs to dump her dad.
(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)
CALLER: Lindsay Lohan`s dad - she should lose this guy. I mean, I know all about fathers and/or stepfathers like this guy. If he cared about her, he would do this in private, instead of the way he has been doing it.
(END AUDIO CLIP)
HAMMER: Thank you, Sandra. You can call us at "Showbiz on Call." That way, you can let us know what you think about Lindsay`s drama or anything else. SCARLETT JOHANSSON, ACTRESS: Go get them, boss.

And how lucky for my colleague, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Brooke Anderson. She got to go one on one with all the stars of "Iron Man" and see the film.
One of the things that Brooke had to ask about - Scarlett Johansson`s role as a sexy spy and just how great she looks in that sexy cat suit. Well, Scarlett says suiting up was tough, but had its rewards.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JOHANSSON: You see a suit like this and, you know, the suit doesn`t lie. There is so much preparation you goes into this. I mean, you become - you can`t be an athletic person without living an athletic lifestyle, and that is nutrition and rest and exercise and all those things.
You just live like this monk-like lifestyle. And it`s OK. It`s OK because you feel good, you know, and you look good, and feel good. And you are working so hard that you - really, there is not much room for anything else. But there were some days when I was like, "Oh, hot fudge sundae."
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Well, Gwyneth Paltrow, who is Pepper Potts in the movie, tells Brooke that Scarlett, well, hot.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
GWYNETH PALTROW, ACTRESS: I thought, wow, that is hot. That is hot right there. She was so great to work with. She`s a really smart, cool, funny girl and it was nice to have another girl on set this time.

HAMMER: I can`t wait. "Iron Man 2" is going to be in theaters on May 7th.

(MUSIC PLAYING)
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It`s 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer coming to you from New York City with big news breaking today - are the Lohans courting disaster?
Brand-new developments today in Lindsay Lohan`s public drama. Her father making a case for taking legal control of Lindsay`s life. Her mother waging a new war of words with him. All of this while Lindsay Lohan`s life seemingly hangs in a balance. Today, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT asks, who has a stronger case?
Right now, in New York, Jane Velez-Mitchell, the host of "ISSUES WITH JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL." You CAN catch her every night right here on HLN. Right now, from Hollywood, Jim Moret who is the chief correspondent for "Inside Edition."
OK. So Lindsay`s dad, Michael, has already barged into Lindsay`s home with the cops. He just hired an attorney. Now, he`s threatening to take legal action against his own daughter for what he says is in her best interest.
Now, in a brand-new emotional interview, Michael Lohan tells HLN`s own Joy Behar what he`s ultimately trying to do here. Take a look at this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
M. LOHAN: All I ever wanted was for my daughter to have her life back. That`s all I want. I want it. I want her to have her life back and I want Ali to be in school and have a normal life. That`s all I care about.
I don`t care if people attack me. But you have to understand something. I don`t do this for publicity. I don`t get paid. I`m a father, a father first and that`s all I care about.
If Dina wants to go ahead and Dina wants to deny things, if she wants to slam me and bring up ridiculous things that make no sense that are totally fictitious, let her. But she knows the truth and so do I.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: All right. So there he is, Jane, laying out his intentions. I`m putting you on the judge`s bench, OK? Are you buying this argument and will you, Judge Jane, grant Michael Lohan legal control over Lindsay`s life?
VELEZ-MITCHELL: I wish I had my gavel. Yes, I grant him conservatorship. The reason is I also talked to him one on one. He told me he`s sober. He told me he`s in a program of recovery and I do believe him on that.
So as a recovering addict, and I`m a recovering alcoholic, I know that you understand the denial, the defiance, the incomprehensible demoralization of addiction, so he can deal with her on her terms.
But I wouldn`t let him have anything to do with the finances. He says he doesn`t want the money.
HAMMER: Right. And that`s not what he`s after. And this, of course, all assuming that Lindsay does have an addiction problem. That is something that we can`t confirm at this time.
I just wondered all along about the publicity angle, why we are seeing Michael popping up on TV all the time. Michael says he is not out for publicity.
And today, he really did something good. He told SHOWBIZ TONIGHT he is not going to be speaking out anymore. And to me, that is the smartest thing that this man has done through all of this.
Jim Moret, you are an attorney. Does it help his case, perhaps in front of a judge, that he is shutting his trap now and taking his argument to court instead of to the public from here on in?
MORET: Well, I think he took it to the public for a reason. He couldn`t get through to his daughter in private so he`s issuing a warning, a public warning.
We all see Lindsay at clubs. That is where paparazzi seem to find her. We know she was arrested twice for DUI in 2007. She`s on probation. She has the reputation of being wild and out of control.
And as far as taking over her finances, based upon reports I`ve seen, she`s in debt, by one report, $600,000 in credit card debt. I don`t think he wants control over her money or her debt.
I think, as a father, very clearly said he wants to protect not only her but the 16-year-old daughter who`s living with Lindsay. And that`s really another main concern I have.
HAMMER: Yes. Yes. But even if he has good intentions in taking it to the public, Lindsay doesn`t like that at all. And she has just been furious about how her dad`s been behaving.
I want you to check out this angry tweet. She`s just slamming her dad here, Lindsay writing this, "The only one in need of police protection here is me and Ali," that`s her little sister, "from our pathologically lying ex-father. My dad should take a hint and stop doing press. It has only pushed us all further and further away from him. At least I have my mommy."
Now, here`s the thing. Lindsay is an adult. She`s 23 years old. She says she doesn`t want anything to do with her dad.
Jane, how will the fact that they have such a tumultuous relationship and a toxic past - how will that play into the court case if it ever should come to be for Michael to take control?
VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, she doesn`t want to go along with the program or go back into rehab, I think they should throw her you-know-what in jail. As Jim mentioned, she is on probation. She`s supposed to be taking alcohol counseling.
Yet, I don`t have my pinky in her drink. But the reports are she`s all over town guzzling and even threw a glass at someone that shattered just a couple of days ago. So why don`t they revoke her probation and throw her in the slammer like they do any other American? There is a two- tiered system of justice in this country.
HAMMER: Yes. And it`s been said before if she does have some kind of addiction problem, that is the best thing for her. That was the whole thing with Dr. Drew saying, "If she were my daughter, I`d figure out a way to get her arrested."
Now, Michael - at least, he is being honest. He`s admitted he`s been anything but a good role model for Lindsay over the years. But he swears he is trying to do the right thing for her now. And in an interview with TMZ live, Michael says he just wants to help Lindsay no matter what it takes. Let`s look at that.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
M. LOHAN: I`ve been down that road. I`ve learned. I know. I`m doing the right things in my life. I`m - listen. If it takes someone else, I`ll step aside. If it takes someone else to do the right thing for my daughter, I`m gone. Just get my daughter help.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yes. Again, he`s saying the smart thing there. I think a third party is a brilliant idea. There is so much baggage that`s pretty tough to overcome between Lindsay`s mom and dad.
Jim, what would a judge have to see in order to bring a third party to take legal control over a grown woman`s life?
MORET: Well, even if the judge doesn`t take control over Lindsay`s life, you`ve got her 16-year-old sister, Ali, who is living with Lindsay, who is supposedly being home-schooled.
And the judge could say, "Wait a minute. This is a minor." The judge could certainly take Ali out of Lindsay`s house. And I think that`s what Michael is asking for.
But you could look at Lindsay`s behavior and the fact that she`s on probation so the judge has greater latitude in this particular case than, say, with you or I where we don`t have a criminal history and we`re not on probation.
HAMMER: All right. Well, we`ll have to wait and see what happens if this, in fact, does wind up before a judge. You know, when I look at what is happening with Lindsay this year, apparently partying out of control, her career really at a virtual standstill, there are obviously parallels to Britney Spears. You can`t ignore this.
You remember back in 2008, Britney`s father, Jamie, stepped in. He got control over Britney`s life when she had that big old public meltdown.
Here`s how he did it. With the help of her attorneys, he got Britney admitted to a hospital under a psychiatric hold. He got rid of Britney`s friends, used restraining orders to do that.
He got control of Britney`s finances. And he actually got Britney to go back to work. It seems that Britney is thriving now. And I`ve got to add - Jamie Spears did all of this without going public to say what he was going to do.
Jane, what do you think is the biggest takeaway here for Michael Lohan, the biggest lesson he can learn from how Britney Spears` dad handled the situation in terms of getting Lindsay help?
VELEZ-MITCHELL: This is a great model. It worked with Britney. We all forget how crazy Britney was. Remember the head-shaving incident? There were so many incidents like that, many of them caught on tape.
Well, she has completely reinvented herself. She is doing great. She`s a proud mother. She looks fantastic. This can happen with Lindsay as well. We can never give up on anyone. So I say to the dad, just keep going at it.
HAMMER: Yes. And I would say that at least Michael`s off to the right start if he, in fact, is going to keep his promise and keep mouth closed, not running off to the press every time he feels he needs to divulge something that`s going on. I think it is time to start handling this privately. Jane Velez-Mitchell, Jim Moret, thank you guys.
All right. Hold on a second. I`ve got to make sure this is right. Is this possibly true? Really? Is John Mayer on a brand-new anti-Twitter rant today?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MAYER: Someone had told me when I first thought about signing up for Twitter, "Sign up for the thing. You`ll get half a million haters."
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yes. This is the guy who has told us everything about his life on Twitter. We didn`t even ask him to. And now, he wants to be a Twitter quitter? Come on, is this really going to stop John Mayer from putting his foot in his mouth? I mean, sexual napalm, anyone? Come on.
Back to school for Jon and Kate? Why, they have to take a parenting class or else.
And Jillian Michaels strikes back today. "The Biggest Loser" trainer caused a whole lot of outrage when she was interviewed about getting pregnant and how it would affect her body. Well, wait until you hear this - Jillian is saying, back off now. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.
Here comes the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.
TEXT: Randy Quaid and wife released from jail, were arrested for allegedly defrauding hotel. Lady Antebellum`s second album, "Need You Now," has gone double platinum, selling two million copies.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. Today, "Biggest Loser" trainer, Jillian Michaels on the defense after igniting a war over her controversial comments about getting pregnant. And Jon and Kate have to go to parenting school? All this and more in "The Buzz" today.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
(voice-over): Jon and Kate custody bombshell. The battling reality couple is being sent to parenting school. TMZ reports the judge overseeing the court fight for their eight kids is forcing both Jon and Kate to complete a class called "Children in the Middle."
Jon and Kate will not be required to take the class together but have to get it done before June 8th. The three-hour course is a requirement for all custody cases in Berks County, Pennsylvania.
Jillian Michaels sets the record straight. The "Biggest Loser" trainer says she is devastated over reports that she won`t plan to get pregnant because it would, quote, "ruin her body."
Michaels gave an interview to "Women`s Health" magazine in which she confessed she has a fear of pregnancy because she was overweight as a child. Now, she says her words were twisted by some media. She tells "Access Hollywood" that she is heartbroken that her words were misrepresented.
John Mayer quitting Twitter? The singer says Twitter is, quote, "over," and has just revealed he is very close to deleting his account. Mayer, who is known for his bombshell-dropping tweets made this shocking announcement during an onstage interview at a Hollywood music symposium.
He said, quote, "I think it`s pretty much done," and added, "I might as well spend that time making a sandwich or building a model ship or something.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
Maybe he should. There`s somebody who says she`s shutting up. John Mayer certainly has a lot to say, doesn`t he?
Right now, in New York, Cooper Lawrence. She is the host of the fabulous syndicated radio program, "The Cooper Lawrence Show." Also in New York, Suzanne Rosdeba. She`s a senior editor for "Star" magazine.
All right, guys. You`ve got to watch John Mayer`s anti-Twitter rant. This thing was caught on tape by "Access Hollywood." It was a major music conference. And John is revealing why he is over Twitter. Roll this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MAYER: The only positive thing on Twitter - let`s be honest - is saying thank you and directing people to nurturing stuff. The rest of it is garbage.
I can`t tell you how many times I meet people or I`m having dinner with people who write stuff and they get upset they have haters now. Why do I want to invent more reasons to have haters?
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: You know, Cooper, I`m thinking this is more about John Mayer being upset for getting slammed over the things that he has to say as opposed to the evils of Twitter.
COOPER LAWRENCE, HOST, "THE COOPER LAWRENCE SHOW": And that`s what it is. And that`s the thing. The whole idea of Twitter is that you have control over your own publicity. You don`t have somebody putting a statement out for you.
HAMMER: Right.
LAWRENCE: I think he didn`t really understand that. I think the idea of don`t say anything stupid on Twitter works well for you. But if he`s creating haters rather than fans, then he doesn`t really get Twitter.
HAMMER: And he does have a habit of running off at the mouth. And you know, he`s proven it time and time again. We all remember John Mayer`s infamous "Playboy" interview. That`s when he called Jessica Simpson sexual napalm.
In the same interview from the stage at this music symposium, John also confessed that his Twitter obsession may have actually killed his relationship with Jennifer Aniston. In this brand-new interview just obtained today, John reveals what he may do with his Twitter free time.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MAYER: I just feel like using Twitter as a way to inspire approval. I am really over it because I have seen - I don`t want to be jaded, but I have seen the best of approval and I`ve seen the worst of disapproval. And they pretty much cancel each other out.
So I might as well spend that time making a sandwich or building a model ship or something.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: All right. Suzanne, off to you. Are you with me that, you know, even without Twitter, John Mayer`s probably going to find some way to be a tool on a regular basis?
SUZANNE ROSDEBA, SENIOR EDITOR, "STAR" MAGAZINE: Absolutely. And maybe he should go off sometimes and make a sandwich and build a model ship, because he is talking about how all that`s on Twitter is garbage.
Well, you know what? Half the time, what comes out of his mouth is garbage. So regardless, John Mayer is still going to find a way to express all the crazy things that come out of his mouth. I don`t doubt it.
HAMMER: All right. Cooper, what`s your verdict here. John Mayer`s threatening to quit Twitter for good. Does he owe it to us all to follow through with this threat?
LAWRENCE: Yes. Please get off of Twitter. You know, I already stopped following him because I`m bored of him already. And there`s much more interesting things going on on Twitter.
I don`t think he really understands Twitter, like I was saying. And I agree with Suzanne - he`s going to keep saying stupid stuff whether he`s on Twitter or whether he`s just sitting in front of a symposium.
HAMMER: Yes.
LAWRENCE: I mean, it`s just going to happen. That`s just who he is.
HAMMER: All right. Let`s move away from John Mayer and on to Jillian Michaels` pregnancy outrage today. "The Biggest Loser" trainer is firing back after she said she was misquoted about her fear of pregnancy.
Now, some reports are saying that she didn`t want to "ruin" her body. That was the word being used in a lot of reports. Here`s what she was quoted in "Women`s Health Magazine," I`m going to adopt. I can`t handle doing that to my body."
Now, you see that Jillian wanted to make it clear she didn`t actually use the word "ruin." But Suzanne, does she owe her fans more of an explanation? There are a lot of moms who love her and who are also struggling with the post-baby weight.
ROSDEBA: There are definitely a lot of moms that look up to her. And it was irresponsible of her to say. On the other hand, though, she is saying that she wants to adopt.
You know what? She`s - that is her choice. And the thing is, a lot of people train with her. She`s got - she used to have Madonna. She`s had a lot of celebrity clients. So people really look up to her and to her clients.
HAMMER: Yes.
ROSDEBA: So she needs to be more responsible about her statements.
HAMMER: Well, she was interviewed by "TV Guide." This interview just out today and in it, Jillian says, "I`m very supportive of mothers. Some of my favorite Hollywood bodies happen to be Madonna and Demi Moore who both had multiple kids."
You know, even though she says she was misquoted, Cooper, do you think she has been unfairly slammed for her comments even if maybe people got a word wrong?
LAWRENCE: No, she`s firing back against herself. She said those things. I don`t think - you know, we are not talking about a journal that`s trying to be scathing here. We`re talking about, you know, a journal that`s a women`s magazine.
I doubt they misquoted here. They are not looking to do that to her. And I just think, you know, her saying that, so that says her vanity is more important than motherhood? It`s just the most preposterous statement. And if she says, "I want to adopt because I believe there`s too many children in the world and I really support adoption," that`s very different than (UNINTELLIGIBLE) my body.
HAMMER: Yes, it`s a whole different thing. All right. Fair enough. Cooper Lawrence, I appreciate that. Also just in today, Jon and Kate plus school - why the parents of eight are being forced to take a parenting class or else.
What the heck could they learn from that class, anyway, I am wondering? Cooper, Suzanne, don`t go anywhere. I`m also revealing the startling results of our exclusive SHOWBIZ poll, should the Gosselin kids return to TV?
Now, it`s time for the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker." These are more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.
TEXT: Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey to renew wedding vows for their second anniversary. Miley Cyrus to release new album, "Can`t Be Tamed," on June 22nd.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: We`re back with Cooper Lawrence. She is the host of a syndicated radio show. And Suzanne Rosdeba, the senior editor for "Star" magazine.
So SHOWBIZ TONIGHT learned today Jon and Kate Gosselin are heading back to school. It`s a parenting class. They have to take this as part of their custody battle. It`s called - and I`m not making this up - "Children in the Middle." And they`ve got eight of them.
Cooper, Jon and Kate have had this ugly, public battle over the kids, the money. I am thinking this class, which is court mandated, by the way, is a perfect idea. It`s brilliant.
LAWRENCE: Yes, they should have taken it years ago when they first started having all the babies because these two people don`t know how to parent eight children. And these kids are in the middle. And it`s really sad for them. So look, if this is going to help them at all, it`s only a three- hour class. It should be three-month class for them.
HAMMER: Yes. Now, Suzanne, they`re not mandated to take these at the same time. I actually think they should. But this is a great idea, isn`t it?
ROSDEBA: Absolutely. I think it would be even better and make a great reality show if they took the class together, because who knows what would happen there? But I read the court papers and this class is supposedly going to be with 12 to 20 other parents.
They`re supposed to show videos of good parenting versus bad parenting. There will be individual counseling sessions. So I think they could each learn some things from these classes.
HAMMER: Do you think they`re going to be showing clips from "Jon & Kate Plus 8?"
(CROSSTALK)
LAWRENCE: That`s what I was going to say. That would be videos about parenting them. Right. Of course.
HAMMER: Who knows? It could be a Jon and Kate reunion before a new reality show even starts. We`ll have to wait and see.
Now, one of the major issues in their custody battle was Jon wanting to yank the kids off TV after Jon and Kate`s marriage meltdown. But we just learned today "Kate plus 8" is now a go.
It is a lights, camera, action for the kids once again. So here`s what we asked in our exclusive SHOWBIZ TONIGHT poll - "Kate Plus 8: Should the Gosselin kids return to TV?"
Charles, put up the results. Look at this. We just got this in. Only 19 percent think this is a good idea. So 81 percent of them are with me. They say keep them off TV.
Cooper, do you think we may actually see a backlash, because even though a lot of people are ranting and raving, I think everybody is still going to tune in.
Number one, people do want to see the kids even if it is not a good idea. They watch these kids growing up. And number two, the train wreck factor cannot be ignored.
LAWRENCE: These kids are not our entertainment. If Jon and Kate want to go do a show, let them go do a show. But I`m begging that 19 percent - don`t watch it. Don`t watch it. Let the ratings tank because they have to be taken off the air. These kids need to be protected.
HAMMER: Yes.
LAWRENCE: And TLC is not going to do it and the parents clearly aren`t. They should not be on camera, especially poor little Joel.
HAMMER: Suzanne, 19 percent say keep them off the camera, but you know, a lot of them, if not all of them - or rather, 81 percent say keep them off the camera. But they`re still going to watch. That`s my point.
ROSDEBA: Oh, of course. I mean, look at when Kate was on "Dancing with the Stars." It was one of the top-watched shows. I mean, people just cannot wait for her to get on TV. And if Jon was on the show with Kate, I mean, even better.
HAMMER: I just think it would be a much better idea if she was paying attention to all this and heard, "You know what? It`s not so healthy when the kids cry if the cameras aren`t there." That`s not it good. Cooper Lawrence, Suzanne Rosdeba, thanks, guys.
And that`s it for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Thanks for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT now live at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Monday through Friday. And of course, still TV`s most provocative entertainment news show seven days a week, 11:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific here on HLN.
