ANDERSON: Hi there. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood with big news breaking today - secrets of the flight attendant.
Yes. We learned remarkable new details today about the openly-gay, fed-up flight attendant that has become America`s biggest overnight celebrity from his ex-wife. And if that was not enough, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT uncovered exclusive evidence today that he now has the potential to become the biggest reality show star on TV.
Because while one door may have closed for Steven Slater, an airplane door, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you that another big door may soon swing wide open.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
(voice-over): Steven Slater is learning the hard way today that it is easier for the fed-up flight attendant to escape from an uncooperative plane passenger than it is to escape from the hungry media.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What do you want to say to the people calling you a sort of working class hero?
STEVEN SLATER, JETBLUE FLIGHT ATTENDANT: I`m a little overwhelmed.
ANDERSON: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell thank you that JetBlue flight attendant Slater, who quit his job in dramatic fashion, is being chased by so many cameras you would think he was a party hopping Hollywood starlet. NBC`s Jeff Rossen caught up to Slater in a parking garage.
JEFF ROSSEN, NBC CORRESPONDENT: Any regrets?
SLATER: That says it all.
ANDERSON: At Slater`s house in Queens, his significant other had to shoo away a horde of photographers.
KENNETH ROCHELLE, SLATER`S PARTNER: Get ready to pass out, you two - each and everyone of you.
ANDERSON: And as we see in this new video out today, a couple of "New York Times" reporters actually cornered Slater in an elevator.
SLATER: A little bit underwhelming.
ANDERSON: Slowly, piece by piece, Slater is revealing the secrets behind his cabin-pressure tirade telling "The Times" that pulling the emergency slide on an airplane was a secret dream of his.
SLATER: I thought about for 20 years. I thought about it. You never think you are going to do it.
ANDERSON: Oh, Slater did it all right. Ever since the JetBlue flight attendant reportedly got into an argument with a passenger, grabbed two beers, pulled the plane`s emergency slide for a getaway, his fame has only grown, and so has the mystery surrounding this flight attendant.
CYNTHIA SUSANNE, STEVEN SLATER`S EX-WIFE: I know that Steven is the consummate flight attendant. He was literally born to fly.
ANDERSON: Before Slater came out as gay, he was married to this woman, Cynthia Susanne. She was on NBC`s "Today" show this morning. She believes that mystery passenger must have really done something to set him off.
SUSANNE: I must go out on a limb and say that this passenger was a nightmare. I mean, something had to take him to that place. I`m assuming this passenger was just the end-all, be-all of something he just didn`t want to deal with.
ANDERSON: But passengers on that flight are also speaking out today revealing more secrets about what happened on the flight. And some are saying Slater was the one who was being rude.
LAUREN DOMINIJANNI, PASSENGER ON JETBLUE FLIGHT: He was very disgruntled.
ANDERSON: On the "Today" show this morning, one passenger said Slater was not only rude, but also snippy for the entire trip.
DOMINIJANNI: He seemed agitated to me. And you know, I just thought to myself that he is having a bad day or this is the type of person that he is. And he actually made me feel uncomfortable.
ANDERSON: Today`s "Wall Street Journal" quoted another passenger who said she saw Slater curse out another passenger for no reason. But Slater`s ex- wife told the "Today" show those passengers may be trying to get some of Slater`s attention for themselves.
SUSANNE: With this kind of mass media frenzies and everybody kind of jumps on the bandwagon.
ANDERSON: And as questions about the secrets of Slater`s life are slowly revealed, his ex-wife was asked this morning on "Good Morning America" why she and Slater, former high school sweethearts, broke up after a brief marriage. Did it have anything to do with him coming out as gay?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Did he discover he was gay after he was married?
SUSANNE: You know, I - I find it hard to put a gender bias on love. So I think that when you love a person that, you know, you find that you are attracted, that`s the way it is at that time. And we definitely, you know, split on excellent terms. No harm. No foul. He is a fantastic human being.
ANDERSON: Right now, Steven Slater isn`t saying much about his future plans other than to say -
SLATER: I need a good nap.
ANDERSON: But as the biggest new celebrity out there, it will be a while before he slides out of the spotlight.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
ANDERSON: So what`s next for Steven Slater? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT may have the answer - a reality show. Which leads us to our SHOWBIZ Flashpoint - should the fed-up flight attendant get a reality show?
Right now in New York is Cooper Lawrence. She is the host of a syndicated radio show and the author of "The Cult of Celebrity." Also in New York is Carolina Bermudez from Z100 Radio`s "Elvis Duran and the Morning Show."
Ladies, I`ve got to tell you, a lot of people think Slater should get a reality show. Just take a look at our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusive poll when we asked that exact question - is there a real show in his future? The results in late today - an astounding 94 percent say that yes. Only six percent said no.
Carolina, in our more than five years of polling here, that question got the biggest response that we have ever seen. So what do you think? A reality show for Slater?
CAROLINA BERMUDEZ, CO-HOST, "ELVIS DURAN AND THE MORNING SHOW": No, not necessarily. I don`t know. I think he`s hot right now. You know, he went from fed-up to famous. And now, he`s just trying to capitalize on this.
But you know, you would think for the reality stars like Snooki out there, this guy has to have a very interesting life. This was just one interesting situation that`s happened to him, so I don`t know if there is enough meat there for a whole reality series with this guy.
ANDERSON: I don`t know. I think he`s got potential. And I can tell you that Slater has already proven to be a natural when the cameras are around. Just take a look at what SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has seen so far. Watch this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I just have to ask you. Is that scar on your head - is that from the suitcase bump? Is it?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: One more little bit. Please. Just one. Just one. Just one. What do you have to say to all the people that are saying you`re a hero?
SLATER: Oh, it is so encouraging and so special.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Are you going to lose your job?
SLATER: More than likely.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Would you do anything differently?
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: I`m sorry. He is fabulous. Cooper, now that have you seen that, SHOWBIZ Flashpoint, what do you think? Should he get a reality show?
COOPER LAWRENCE, SYNDICATED RADIO HOST: I think you`ve had a stroke, Brooke. There`s nothing interesting.
ANDERSON: He`s interesting. I`m sorry. He`s entertaining.
LAWRENCE: He didn`t say anything interesting. He didn`t say anything dynamic. He gave one-word answers. He was very monotone.
I mean, my standards are much higher for somebody who`s going to be on reality show. Also, Brooke, the most interesting thing in his life already happened and the cameras weren`t there, that he had his moment on that plane. That would have been the climax of the show.
So I don`t know where it goes. It`s just downhill from here. I mean, I`ve got to say call Jennifer Wilbanks. She is a lot more interesting, the runaway bride. Remember her?
BERMUDEZ: Yes.
ANDERSON: I do.
LAWRENCE: So this is the new Jennifer Wilbanks. So we`ve got to get both of them together.
BERMUDEZ: Yes.
LAWRENCE: And then, we`ve got a show.
ANDERSON: Hey, ladies, even if he doesn`t get his own show, which you don`t think he should, we are thinking that maybe he could be a good fit for several shows that are already on the air.
We know he grabbed two beers, right, before he slid down the airplane emergency slide. So we are thinking he could fit right in with the beer- loving cast of "Jersey Shore," maybe party with Snooki, though, I don`t think he`s got enough gel in his hair for that one.
Or since he`s a flight attendant and we know he likes to travel, should he maybe head to a remote island compete on "Survivor"? Should he face off with the Donald on "Celebrity Apprentice." Carolina, what`s your pick?
BERMUDEZ: Well, you know, he didn`t shock on the beers. If you would have shocked on the beers, then he could have gone on "Jersey Shore." But I think he is perfect for "Survivor" because he can take a Samsonite to the head and he can, you know, inflate that slide. I think this guy`s got a future on "Survivor," if anything.
ANDERSON: Yes. And he survived being a flight attendant for a lot of years which we know is not an easy job. Cooper, which reality show do you think he should be on?
LAWRENCE: I`m putting him on with the Donald, because he loves people that have no talent. Look what he`s doing with Omarosa right now in that show that he`s working on where she`s trying to find love. I mean, the Donald is very good at making nobodies into celebrities. So I think that`s really his best shot.
ANDERSON: I don`t know. I think that maybe the "Celebrity Apprentice" might be too civilized for this guy. He really went postal. Carolina, the clock is ticking here. How soon do you think his 15 minutes of fame will run out?
BERMUDEZ: Oh, gosh, I think we are on the last leg here, guys, because look at Captain Sully Sullenberger. He, like, saved people and he landed a plane safely. And you know, his 15 minutes were very short-lived. So Steven Slater - I say, milk it up while you can because it`s not going to last very long.
ANDERSON: Well, I think it was all so off-the-wall and over-the-top that we are not going to forget about this fed-up flight attendant for a long time.
But hey, we want everybody to weigh in on this. So I`d like you to vote. Here`s what we are asking today in our exclusive SHOWBIZ TONIGHT poll - "Fed-Up Flight Attendant: Which reality show should he go on?"
Should Steven Slater party with the cast of "Jersey Shore"? Try to become a "Survivor"? Or take on Donald Trump on "The Celebrity Apprentice"? That`s what we`re asking. Vote at CNN.com/ShowbizTonight. E-mail us at showbiztonight@cnn.com.
And hey, I want to say that I`m never one to say we should reward illegal behavior. But I think, here, we all need to relax, just take a breath and appreciate how hilarious his exit truly was.
LAWRENCE: OK.
ANDERSON: Cooper Lawrence, Carolina Bermudez, thanks. All right. Moving on to this - Tyra`s skinny shocker. Brand-new outrage today over Tyra Banks` seemingly embracing a scary-skinny model.
Look at this. This is the same Tyra who has slammed people for being obsessed with women`s weight, the same Tyra who has stood up for plus-sized women all over the world. Is Tyra being hypocritical?
Plus, the remarkable reaction today to Teri Hatcher`s unbelievable anti-Botox photos that she revealed herself. We are revealing more of Teri`s new stunning new pictures today.
John McCain`s brand-new declaration today about Snooki. Does he really think she`s hot? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.
And now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.
TEXT: Shania Twain is being pursued as a judge on "American Idol." Lady Gaga passes Ashton Kutcher in number of Twitter followers, she`s number two behind Britney.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: Got the money?
SYLVESTER STALLONE, ACTOR: Go get it.
UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: What`s that?
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: Yes. Sylvester Stallone is back on the big screen this weekend as an action hero in his new movie, "The Expendables." And he is taking on Julia Roberts whose new movie, "Eat, Pray, Love" also opens. But will these big stars get a smackdown from the nerds in "Scott Pilgrim Versus the World"?
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood with the nerds versus the stars in a SHOWBIZ TONIGHT special.
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can now reveal that some big names have been getting their butts kicked by no names. And the recent Comic-Con comic book convention only solidified that the people with the real power to make or break a movie couldn`t care less whether a big-named star is on the marquee.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Welcome to Comic-Con.
ANDERSON (voice-over): Every summer, Hollywood pours millions of dollars and energy into a four-day convention in San Diego.
FRANCO TE, EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, "NERDSOCIETY.COM": Comic-Con, one of the biggest conventions in the world. It didn`t start out that way. I think in 2000 or so, that`s when it started to pick up. Hollywood noticed the trend nerds are very vocal.
ANDERSON: They`re also engaged and influential. Franco Te is the editor- in-chief of "NerdSociety.com."
TE: It`s 2010 and the nerds stepped up their game.
ANDERSON: And so has Hollywood. This year alone, Te`s small Web site has attracted the attention of two major movie studios.
TE: We are invited by Disney to interview the cast and crew of "Prince of Persia" and "Sorcerer`s Apprentice."
UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: What?
TE: At Comic-Con, Lion`s Gate contacted us to interview the cast and crew of "The Expendables."
ANDERSON: While Te enjoys rubbing elbows with Hollywood`s elite, he says the truth is nerds don`t really care about big-named movie stars.
TE: To me, it is not a big deal. It is more about the performance of the actor. So if they hire an unknown for the next "Batman," I would still watch it.
ANDERSON: Experts say it is a growing trend in Hollywood - the fading power of A-list stars.
PAUL DEGARABEDIAN, PRESIDENT, BOX OFFICE DIVISION OF "HOLLYWOOD.COM": In today`s world, it is the box office that makes the star, not the star that makes the box office.
ANDERSON: Paul Degarabedian is the president of the box office division of "Hollywood.com."
DEGARABEDIAN: Julia Roberts in past years - Russell Crowe. You`ve seen Tom Cruise with Cameron Diaz. So you know, you can`t just rest on your laurels and think, "If I just put a big star in movie, it`s going to be an instant hit.
ANDERSON: So scoot over, star power. It`s now time for nerd power?
DEGARABEDIAN: Nerds have a lot of power in Hollywood. And I hate to even call them nerds. They are almost like the new pacemakers, if you will. Studios are now really taking notice of and taking their opinions and trying to put that into action in both their marketing and their films.
ANDERSON: As for Te, he happily wields his power with authority.
TE: Let`s say, we`ll make a decision on a casting choice for a colorful movie. Within 24 hours, they will know instantly whether they made the right decision or not.
ANDERSON: Pay attention, studio execs. The nerds have the floor. How about Seth Rogan as the "Green Hornet?"
TE: He`s too quirky to be the superhero movie.
ANDERSON: Ryan Reynolds as the "Green Lantern."
TE: He`s a cocky guy and Ryan Reynolds could pull that off.
ANDERSON: Chris Evans as Captain America.
TE: I was against it when they first announced it. But ever since I saw the footage at Comic-Con, he could pull it off.
ANDERSON: And Chris Hemsworth as "Thor"?
TE: From the (INAUDIBLE) of Comic-Con, it looks pretty cheesy.
ANDERSON: So what about this weekend`s box office?
TE: The nerds are going to see "Expendables" first, and then maybe the next day, they`ll watch "Scott Pilgrim Versus the World." For sure, we`re not going to watch that Julia Roberts movie.
ANDERSON: Sorry, Julia. The nerds have spoken.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
Yes. "Oh, shoot" is right, because "Eat, Pray, Love" is not getting good reviews today. The "Expendables" mixed. But "Scott Pilgrim Versus the World" - thumbs up according to most critics.
Hey, I`m going the give two big thumbs up to Teri Hatcher today. There`s brand-new coast-to-coast reaction today to her unbelievable anti- Botox photos. Teri just revealed these pictures today and today, I`m going to show you more of them.
Paris Hilton sued for $35 million over her hair today. Are you kidding me?
And brand-new controversy today over the stunning singing by a 10- year-old "America`s Got Talent" star.
(SINGING)
ANDERSON: A lot of people calling her the next Susan Boyle. Is she really singing? Could she be lip-synching? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.
Now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.
TEXT: Sum 41`s tour canceled following attack on lead singer Deryck Whibley. George Michael charged with drug, driving offenses in London.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
ANDERSON: Halle Berry just loves being naked. Now, she is not nude in the September issue of "Vogue" magazine. But Halle says she is so comfortable with her body now that she would be in the buff 24/7 if she could.
She says, "I love the naked female form. I just feel like that`s the most empowered position you can be in. That comes with age. I have been slowly getting there. If the world wouldn`t persecute me, I would take nude pictures every day of the week."
All right. There is an unbelievable debate today over Fox News Channel`s Bill O`Reilly slamming Jennifer Aniston. Remember, Aniston said this, "Women are realizing more and more that you don`t have to settle. They don`t have to fiddle with a man to have that child. They are realizing if it is that time in their life and they want this part they can do it with or without that."
Well, that`s got a lot of people mad, especially Bill O`Reilly who slammed Aniston on his show. Watch.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BILL O`REILLY, HOST, "THE O`REILLY FACTOR": There are millions of single mothers who do a great job raising their kids.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Doing a great job -
O`REILLY: And they are abandoned and there are all - and they do. It is possible, but it is not optimum.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: And it`s not easy.
O`REILLY: And that`s where Ms. Aniston makes a mistake, because she is throwing a message out to 12-year-olds and 13-year-olds, OK, that, "Hey, you don`t need a guy. You don`t need a dad. You know, that`s destructive to our society.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: OK. He`s got a point, but I really don`t think Jennifer Aniston meant for her comments to be interpreted in that way. Her situation, entirely different from impressionable girls who are 20, 25, 30 years younger than she is.
But yes, I am getting hundreds of fired up posts about the Aniston- O`Reilly smackdown on our Facebook wall today. Jenny R. agrees with Bill O`Reilly, "She can afford to be a single mom. Most of us are barely making it struggling. How about the great dads who are accepting their responsibilities? She`s not giving them credit."
But Kelly L. is on team Jen, "Kudos to my girl, Jen. It is time women get realistic and accept that they can`t wait around for a man to commit to her to start family."
All right. And now, the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT lineup. Here is what`s coming up on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.
Tyra`s skinny shocker. The outrage today over Tyra Banks` embracing a scary, skinny model. Is Tyra being hypocritical?
And John McCain`s brand-new declaration today about Snooki. Does he really think she`s hot?
And the fed-up flight attendant. He went from nobody to somebody faster than a Boeing 747. Cameras in his face. Even songs about the guy.
(SINGING)
ANDERSON: So how is Steven Slater dealing with his overnight instant fame? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.
And now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.
TEXT: Jack Black to guest star on Nickelodeon`s "iCarly." Jay-Z to perform at the World Basketball Festival in New York City.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
ANDERSON: Now, on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT - Tyra`s skinny shocker. Outrage today over Tyra Banks` glowing praise for an unbelievably super-skinny model. The same Tyra who preaches women should embrace their curves. The SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Flashpoint today - is Tyra being hypocritical?
How does she look? Stunning new reaction today to Teri Hatcher`s Botox-free photos. Even more pictures revealed today. And the unbelievable reason for Teri`s risky decision.
John McCain`s outrageous Snooki shocker. Does he think Snooki is hot?
Plus, breaking today from the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - is Victoria Beckham pregnant? The Situation`s stunning promise - give him 10 minutes and he`ll change your life forever.
ANNOUNCER: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show continues right now.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
ANDERSON: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It`s 30 minutes past the hour. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood with big news breaking today - Tyra`s skinny shocker.
The outrage today over Tyra Banks appearing to embrace and encourage a scary-skinny model. A brand-new commercial promoting Tyra`s modeling show is sparking a brand-new controversy today.
In the ad, Tyra seems to be encouraging a model who supposedly has the smallest waist in the world. This is the same Tyra who told the world to kiss her you-know-what. Watch.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BANKS: Women who have been picked on, women whose husbands put them down, women at work, girls in school, I have one thing to say to you - kiss my fat ass!
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: With me, right now in New York, Cooper Lawrence, who is a syndicated radio host and the author "The Cult of Celebrity." Also in New York, Carolina Bermudez, who is the co-host of Z100 Radio`s "Elvis Duran and the Morning Show."
Cooper, Carolina, this whole thing blew up because of the brand-new commercial out today for the new season of "America`s Next Top Model." Tyra who is a champion of women of any size, women being all sizes, is seen oohing and ahhing, in a way, over a super-skinny model`s waist. Watch.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I am?
BANKS: You have the smallest waist in the world. Look at this waist. And how tall are you?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I`m 6`2".
BANKS: There is something about her that I like.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She`s going to make (INAUDIBLE) eat Tic-Tacs and watercress for the rest of the season.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: OK. When was the last time that pro model had a real meal? Somebody get her a Big Mac, OK, immediately. And I know. I know. She may be naturally thin. Yes. But I do think that Tyra praising her skeletal look kind of sends a confusing message. So to the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Flashpoint - is Tyra Banks being hypocritical? Cooper, what do you think?
LAWRENCE: Well, you know, I worked for years with Tyra on "The Tyra Banks Show" both as a guest on the show and as consultant to the show. And I know Tyra pretty well.
And I can tell you, I guarantee you 100 percent, the next comment out of her mind was something like, "Are you healthy?" Or, "Your waist being that thin is unique about you, the same way Cindy Crawford had the mole." She is not - you know, it`s the way it was edited -
ANDERSON: And so why didn`t they include that in the promo if that`s so important?
LAWRENCE: Because we wouldn`t be here talking about it. She wants us to watch her show, right? So she`s going to say something provocative to get us talking about it, to watch yet another cycle of "America`s Next Top Model."
So I think it is the way it was edited. I know for a fact that Tyra does not like the idea of a size zero unless that`s natural and healthy for you. She doesn`t use the word "diet" when she has conversations about this. She doesn`t - she never said how much weight she`s lost. She doesn`t say anything about the numbers. She embraces women for who they are.
(CROSSTALK)
ANDERSON: Yes, yes. Something is confusing because it is not the same Tyra that has criticized today`s unhealthy standards -
LAWRENCE: You didn`t hear the rest of the clip.
(CROSSTALK)
ANDERSON: Carolina, do you think Tyra is being hypocritical today?
BERMUDEZ: Absolutely - 100 percent she`s being hypocritical.
LAWRENCE: No, the editor is being hypocritical. Tyra is not being hypocritical.
BERMUDEZ: You can`t go out there and celebrate full-figured women but yet have money signs in your eyes.
LAWRENCE: She doesn`t celebrate full-figured women. No, no, no, she does not.
BERMUDEZ: No, she does.
(CROSSTALK)
LAWRENCE: I have known her for years. Trust me. She celebrates being healthy, whatever your healthiest weight is whether it`s a size 20 or whether size two.
ANDERSON: That young lady is obviously not healthy. She`s obviously not healthy.
LAWRENCE: And that may be the next thing out of Tyra`s mouth. You don`t know because that`s how it was edited - to be provocative.
BERMUDEZ: The point is that there are young impressionable women that are watching the show that may want to become a model one day. And here is Tyra looking at this girl like she is a piece of meat like she just found gold.
LAWRENCE: No, she`s not.
BERMUDEZ: Absolutely.
LAWRENCE: Watch the show. I guarantee in the show she made a comment next.
(CROSSTALK)
ANDERSON: Cooper, you have to admit she is marveling at a waist that is tinier than my arm.
LAWRENCE: Because it is unique, not because it is skinny. And I guarantee - I guarantee you 100 percent, I will put money on this, Brooke, that the next thing out of her mouth is something about, "Is she healthy?"
ANDERSON: OK.
LAWRENCE: Or something that`s going to (INAUDIBLE) us of what we`re saying right now that`s going to make us realize she is not commenting. She`s not oohing and ahhing, and she`s not promoting that.
(CROSSTALK)
ANDERSON: I hope you`re right. We`re going to hold you to that.
BERMUDEZ: It is irresponsible for her to allow this clip to be released, because she is looking for ratings. She is looking for viewers. And regardless, young women are going to see this and they`re going to want to aspire to be like this model or this potential model.
LAWRENCE: I don`t think so.
ANDERSON: This certainly has sparked a big debate. And Cooper, we are going to hold you to that. We`re going to see exactly what followed these comments.
LAWRENCE: I will put money on it.
ANDERSON: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT reached out to Tyra Banks today and she has no comment right now. Speaking of sending messages, I want to move now to the brand-new message that "Desperate Housewives" star, Teri Hatcher, is trying to send today on these unbelievable photos she revealed of herself on her Facebook page writing, "Did I ever toy with fillers or Botox over the years? Yes. Tell me, does this look like Botoxed to you? Yes, I`m alone in my bathroom naked in a towel on behalf of women everywhere, trying to make a point. Women, you are beautiful."
Carolina, I think it is refreshing that Teri posted these pictures. You know, I think it sends a message that maybe we all need to cut ourselves some slack here. What do you think?
BERMUDEZ: Well, I`m kind of torn on this one because part of me is very happy that she`s comfortable enough with herself to release pictures like these because she`s always dolled up.
But then, the other side of me is saying why? Why are you even bothering, Teri? Because people are going to make up their own assumptions about what she is doing and what she isn`t doing. I`m just not getting the whole message here.
And I think it could be a little bit of a PR stunt. It could be a - maybe a plea for attention. I`m just not getting the whole message here.
ANDERSON: Cooper, do you agree with Carolina?
LAWRENCE: I do. And it seems like, you know - so she missed a Botox appointment and now, she`s posting pictures about it. You know, she has done Botox. She`s had some Restylane. She has done all of that. But let`s keep in mind. She`s a naturally beautiful woman.
BERMUDEZ: Right.
LAWRENCE: So you know, to - to promote somebody her age, it is about being her age. And I hope that she continues to not get any more work done. I hope she starts to show us - I would like to watch her age because I think that sends a better message.
ANDERSON: Well, I think that - you know, it was hard for me to find something wrong with what Teri did, but you girls have found it.
OK. From Botox-free to plastic surgery fury. In a brand-new interview with "Esquire" magazine out today, Sofia Vergara, who stars in one of my favorite shows, the hit sitcom, "Modern Family," is slamming Madonna implying that she looks like a freak, "L.A. is crazy. The women look all the same now. That thing with the cheeks like Madonna. Who do they think they are fooling? It doesn`t make them look young. You end up looking like a freak."
I think Sofia makes a great point that the plastic look is out of control. And that really should not be what anybody strives for. So I like that Sofia is being brutality honest here. Carolina, what do you think?
BERMUDEZ: Well, I think that she is being brutality honest. She has a right to her opinion. And I mean, she isn`t saying anything that we are not seeing for ourselves.
Madonna is obsessed with her youth. She wants to stay young forever. And Sofia just put it out there like it is. And you know what? When you are that gorgeous, you can say whatever you want and get away with it. So I`m not mad at her.
ANDERSON: She is naturally beautiful. Cooper, what do you think?
LAWRENCE: I think you shouldn`t poke a bear. Madonna isn`t like - go after Heidi Montag. Don`t go after Madonna. But the thing is Madonna -
ANDERSON: Why should Madonna be off-limits for Sofia to rock with it?
LAWRENCE: Madonna is the old guard. She still has the idea you have to look a certain way. She`s dating the younger man with all that Madonna`s body. You know, appearance is very important to her.
Sofia is a lot younger. And I think the new way to be in Hollywood is to be as natural as possible, to reject Botox, reject looking like that. Julia Roberts is doing it. Obviously, those pictures we just saw of Teri Hatcher. I like the way this is going. I like the direction these women are going.
ANDERSON: I absolutely agree. OK. Ladies, we`re going to leave it there for now. Cooper Lawrence and Carolina Bermudez, thanks.
The 10-year-old singing sensation, lots of people say, just might be the next Susan Boyle.

ISAIAH MUSTAFA, OLD SPICE GUY: Hello, ladies. Look at your man. Now, back to me. Now, back at your man. Now, back to me. Sadly, he isn`t me. But if he stopped using lady-scented body wash and he switched to Old Spice, he could smell like me.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: Do you smell that? That`s the sweet smell of success. I can tell you there are new reports today that the Old Spice guy just landed another big movie role. According to "The Hollywood Reporter," the Old Spice guy, whose real name is Isaiah Mustafa, was just cast in the Tyler Perry "Madea" movie, "Madea`s Big Happy Family."
Mustafa is on a roll. He has a deal with NBC and a part in another film starring Jennifer Aniston.
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Brooke Anderson. There is big news breaking in "The Buzz" today. TV salary shocker - the new list out today of TV`s top moneymakers. Who made the list will surprise you.
And the "Desperate Housewives" star gets sued and says it`s the most ridiculous thing she`s ever heard.
Plus, Paris Hilton`s hair-raising $35 mega-million lawsuit today. How Paris` long locks could land her in court.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
(voice-over): Paris` hair-raising lawsuit. Paris Hilton has just been sued for $35 million over her hair. A company that makes hair extensions claims that Paris had a $3.5 million contract to promote their extensions but wore a competitor`s fake locks.
The suit also claims Paris missed a product launch party because she was in jail at the time. So far, no comment from Paris.
A "Desperate" lawsuit? "Desperate Housewives" star, Teri Hatcher has just been sued by a woman who says she was a partner in Hatcher`s production company. Jennifer Glassman claims she was promised 50 percent share of the profits, but got pushed out. Hatcher calls the claims ridiculous.
The TV`s salary shockers. "TV Guide" just released its list of the top earners on television. "TV Guide" says Oprah Winfrey is the best-paid, making $315 million.
Other revelations, Ryan Seacrest makes $15 million a year for hosting "American Idol." Matt Lauer makes $16 million for the "Today" show. And Charlie Sheen is the top-paid sitcom star making more than $1.2 million for each episode of "2-1/2 men."
(END VIDEOTAPE)
Can you believe those salaries? And there`s more big news creating a lot of buzz, including Sen. John McCain defending Snooki. The Arizona senator is sticking up for his Twitter buddy, "Jersey Shore`s" Snooki.
Right now, in Chicago, is Kelly Zink. She`s the host of "CelebTV.com." And in Hollywood is Hyla who is an entertainment journalist from "5DollarPrep.com."
Guys, just the other day, we heard Snooki talking about her trip to jail after being arrested for disorderly conduct saying that she was too pretty for jail. Well, I wouldn`t have believed it had I not heard it with my own ears today Sen. McCain on the "Tim and Willy Radio Show" breaking down why he`s team Snooki.
(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)
SEN. JOHN MCCAIN (R-AZ), FORMER PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: A very quick story. Snooki twittered that she said she was mad because they raised the taxes on tanning. So she said she`s mad at Obama. He raised the taxes.
And she said, "John McCain would never have raised taxes because he`s so pale." So I - so I tweeted back. I said, "You are right, Angie, I would never raise taxes on tanning salons." And be sure to wear sunscreen.
Now, I have been worried about what`s going on with her, of course, since I have this attachment. But I kind of think she might be too good- looking to go to jail. I don`t know. I don`t know.
(END AUDIO CLIP)
ANDERSON: Hyla, I know he was just trying to be funny. But I`m not sure he`s doing himself any favors by talking so much about Snooki.
HYLA, ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALIST, "5DOLLARPREP.COM": I love this. What do you mean? This is awesome. Listen, I`m going to be an old man one day. One day, I`m going to want to probably try to date a younger woman. And this is inspiring to old men across the country.
Now, he`s a little paler than I would expect Snooki to be attracted to a guy. But this is a Hollywood relationship that I am going to be watching very closely and I hope blossoms into something beautiful.
ANDERSON: And well, and speaking of blossoming, just moments ago, Snooki tweeted that she is grateful that McCain is sticking up for her and is officially making him part of her family. Kelly, what do you think?
HYLA: Yes -
KELLY ZINK, HOST, "CELEBTV.COM": Listen, I think it is super cool McCain is saying, "I`m not too cool for school and I can actually acknowledge the reality." So he is having fun with it.
ANDERSON: Yes.
ZINK: And maybe he`s playing with Obama who goes back and forth. You know, "I know Snooki" at the White House Correspondents Dinner. And then, on "The View," "I don`t know who she is." Maybe there`s underlying things going on there. But I think it is cool.
ANDERSON: Well, I think it shows, yes, that McCain has got a sense of humor. Of course, he`s not being super-serious here.
OK. I`ve got to move now to the startling controversy today over the 10-year-old singing sensation. This little girl is being called the mini Susan Boyle. Jackie Evancho was chosen from YouTube to compete - she was chosen from YouTube to compete on "America`s Got Talent."
The tiny powerhouse blew everybody away with her voice. But apparently, some folks thought she was lip-synching. Watch and listen.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
ANDERSON: All right. She is incredible. And Hyla, I do admit after I first saw her on the show, I did research other YouTube videos of her singing because I wasn`t convinced it was her voice. But it really is her voice. What do you think?
HYLA: Yes. You know, it is hard to tell on television, TV performances. You know, sometimes the audio doesn`t match up. It doesn`t necessarily mean they are lip-synching. If she is, shame on the parents and shame on "America`s Got Talent." But if she isn`t, this woman has a huge career ahead of her.
ANDERSON: Absolutely. And you know, on last night`s "America`s Got Talent," judge Howie Mandel said, "Listen, a lot of people are asking were you lip-synching, could you sing a few lines to prove them wrong?" Listen.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
HOWIE MANDEL, JUDGE, "AMERICA`S GOT TALENT": Everybody asked - they said, "Was it really her?" Now, on the show, no contest contestant is not allowed to lip-sync. It doesn`t happen. But I want to prove it. Is there any way you can just sing a note right now? It`s coming out of you. Give me a note.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: She is amazing. And I think it puts all the lip-synching theories to rest. Kelly, you are shaking your head, but I`ve got to end it there. Kelly Zink, Hyla, thanks, guys.

JEANNE MOOS, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Run, run for your life. It isn`t easy being a hero. One minute you`re telling passengers to buckle their seat belts, the next thing you know, you`re being shoved into a van like a kidnap victim. Reporters are begging you to roll down your window.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: One more, little bit, please? Just one, just one. Just one. What do you have to say to all the people saying you`re a hero?
SLATE: Oh, it`s - it`s so encouraging and so special.
MOOS: Oh, it`s special all right, to be followed into an elevator by the "New York Times" and asked if you`d planned to deploy that emergency chute.
SLATER: We`ve thought about it for 20 years. You never think you`re going to do it.
MOOS: Probably never thought he`d be pursued through a parking garage either.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Any regrets?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Can I just ask you, is that scar on your head, is that from the suitcase falling?
MOOS: When the press is swarming in front of your house -
ROCHELLE: Do me a favor, just leave, leave, leave.
MOOS: It`s enough to make your significant other significantly annoyed.
ROCHELLE: I have a medical condition and each and every one of you is causing me to have my arrhythmia and I will pass out.
MOOS: On the other hand, it`s nice having a Facebook fan page with 150,000 or so fans. Exiting the plane via the emergency slide was so popular, someone posted cats going down a slide in tribute. It`s entered the political lexicon. The president`s spokesman denying that he`s -
ROBERT GIBBS: Added an inflatable exit to my office so -
MOOS: When your magic wall isn`t behaving magically -
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Having problems with the magic wall this morning.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This thing wants to cooperate - I`m going to pull a Steven Slater in about 3, 2, 1.
MOOS (on camera): JetBlue is giving every passenger on Steven Slater`s flight a $100 voucher.

Underneath this latest ballad to Steven, his boyfriend posted, "This is the best, we love you." When Slater finally arrived home -
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Hello.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Welcome home.
MOOS: The press was waiting. We keep this up, he`ll be pulling a Slater on us. This microphone needs an escape chute.
SLATER: Thank you -
