A.J. HAMMER, CO-HOST: Big news breaking today on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT - anger over O`Reilly. Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg return to "The View" today for the first time they walked off on Bill O`Reilly and get into an explosive face-off with Barbara Walters.

HAMMER: Hello, I`m A.J. Hammer, coming to you from Hollywood.
BROOKE ANDERSON, CO-HOST: And I`m Brooke Anderson with big news breaking today - "The View" on O`Reilly.
A.J., the ladies of "The View" were back on live television responding for the first time today to the remarkable fallout from the walkout on Bill O`Reilly.
HAMMER: And let me tell you, Brooke, they did not disappoint one bit, not at all. In fact, to add to all the tension, a face-off today between two of the ladies and their boss, Barbara Walters. We`re going to show you today`s showdown in just a moment.
But first, let`s flash back to how it all began last week with Bill O`Reilly blaming the September 11 terror attacks on Muslims. Take a look at this.

BILL O`REILLY, HOST, "THE O`REILLY FACTOR": Muslims didn`t kill us on 9/11? Is that what you`re saying?
GOLDBERG: Extremists did that. What religion was Mr. McVeigh?

BEHAR: I don`t want to sit here right now. I don`t want to sit here.
O`REILLY: You`re outraged about Muslims killing us on 9/11?
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
BARBARA WALTERS, EXECUTIVE PRODUCER AND CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": You have just seen what should not happen. We should be able to have discussions without washing our hands and screaming and walking off stage.

HAMMER: And there, they just walked off. With me right now from New York, Sunny Hostin who is a legal contributor with "In Session" on our sister network, Tru TV. And with us in Hollywood, Jim Moret, who is the chief correspondent for "Inside Edition" and the author of a fantastic book called "Last Day of My Life."
We do have so much to show you. It really was incredible. You just saw Barbara Walters scolding the ladies about how they walked off the set of their own show. Well, today, Whoopi and Joy defended themselves in a big way and they explained why they walked off the set. Take a look.

BEHAR: On this show, we always speak about standing up to bigotry, so I stood up.
GOLDBERG: I hit my saturation point, because what we didn`t show was, you know, when Mr. O`Reilly came out, he started with me as soon as he sat down, which he also did on Halloween. And I know he was invited here. I understand that.
But sometimes, you know, it`s enough for me and I`m not the greatest person in the world. I don`t walk on water, but I had enough. And as soon as I said the B-word, I knew to get up and leave.

HAMMER: Well, I totally get where Barbara is coming from but Whoopi and Joy are grown women. Look, I think they handled it exactly how they wanted to handle it. And quite frankly, I`m just fine with it. Jim, are you satisfied with their explanation this morning as to why they walked off their own show?
JIM MORET, CHIEF CORRESPONDENT, "INSIDE EDITION": I am. First of all, welcome to Hollywood.
HAMMER: Good to be here in Hollywood.
(CROSS TALK)
ANDERSON: We love having him here.
MORET: You know what? I think this is good news for O`Reilly and good for "The View."
HAMMER: That`s true.
MORET: We`re talking about something that we might otherwise have ignored totally because O`Reilly always needles these women - always. Look, he was out of line, I thought. I thought he was very condescending and I thought that Barbara - look, she didn`t need to dress them down again. She said something last week.
I thought it was a little bit over the top to say - again, to publicly dress them down. I was a bit taken back by that.
ANDERSON: Well, you know, I think that Whoopi and Joy made some solid points this morning in justifying why they did what they did walking off the set with O`Reilly. But, Sunny, I have to say that I agree with Barbara in the fact that we should be able to tolerate and respect one another even when we disagree.
SUNNY HOSTIN, LEGAL CONTRIBUTOR, "IN SESSION" ON TRU TV: Absolutely. I have to tell you I don`t think they made good points. As many of you know, I`ve worked with Bill O`Reilly. I used to do a segment with him every week called "Is It Legal?" And suffice it to say, our opinions often differed.
But he`s a man who respects opinion. And while he likes to needle, he will respect your opinion. And that show is called "The View" because they`re there to give their point of view. To walk away does not give their point view and allows him really to win the argument. And I don`t think that`s what that show is about.
I think that they really did the wrong thing by walking out. And I think it was up to Barbara Walters, as sort of the grand dame of television, to dress them down, not only on air, but again.
MORET: We`re talking about it now.
HAMMER: Yes.
HOSTIN: We are talking about it.
(CROSS TALK)
HAMMER: And to your point, Sunny - to your point and as Jim alluded to, Barbara did not back down at all about why she felt Whoopi and Joy were wrong to walk off the set last week. And I`ve got to say, today, on "The View," it seemed like Barbara was doing it again, publicly scolding Whoopi and Joy for the way they handled the whole thing. Let`s look at that.

WALTERS: You don`t walk out of your own home. You can walk out of somebody else`s home. You don`t walk out of your own home. And he was, as we said, someone we invited. We are used to Bill O`Reilly. He loves this. He loves to pull your chain. He loves to get you angry.
This is just what he wanted. I don`t have to tell you the regard that I have for you, the affection. I will fight for your right for anything. Having said that, I think it was the wrong thing to do.

HAMMER: Yes. JIM, you called it a moment ago a dressing down. There was Barbara essentially scolding Joy and Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg.
MORET: Did you see Whoopi`s reaction? She did not look happy at all.
HAMMER: I`d like to see the cameras after the show after today.
MORET: Oh, my god.
HAMMER: So not the right thing for Barbara to have done?
MORET: Well, you know what? It makes the show - remember when Rosie was on the show? What happened? We tuned in to see what`s going to happen next. And it`s becoming a "what`s going to happen next" on "The View" again. Maybe this is a good thing. We`re coming into sweeps again. Maybe I`m cynical. I think that this is good for "The View."
HAMMER: But they made the point - I want to bring up they made a point that none of this is staged and believe that.
HOSTIN: For ratings - yes.
HAMMER: I know these ladies well. They don`t put this on.
ANDERSON: They were genuinely passionate about their opinions and they do not do it for ratings.
MORET: I agree.
ANDERSON: And they said that is never the reason. I do think Barbara is the mother hen, in a way, and this is her show. She felt strongly about what she did and she wanted to express her opinions just like Whoopi and Joy.
MORET: And boy, did she.
ANDERSON: And boy, did she. Right. And interestingly, you bring up Rosie O`Donnell, Jim, because I`ve got to tell you the ladies who are currently co-hosting "The View" were not the only ones making some noise today about this whole smackdown.
Rosie O`Donnell, who quit "The View" after battling with Barbara, slammed Barbara on her Sirius Satellite radio show for the way that she handled things when O`Reilly first walked off set. Listen to this.

ROSIE O`DONNELL, RADIO TALK SHOW HOST: It`s such a strange atmosphere over there at that show. I don`t think it can ever be articulated to anyone who has not experienced it. It`s such a strange atmosphere.
And the fact that, you know, Barbara Walters could feel that she should be able to scold the Oscar, Grammy, Emmy-award winning Whoopi Goldberg and, you know, the 60-year-old Joy Behar on TV is kind of strange.

ANDERSON: OK, Sunny, granted Rosie has a different perspective than, say, we do because we`ve never been co-hosts on "The View," but the whole thing doesn`t seem strange to me when you consider that Barbara is their boss. She can essentially say whatever she wants.
HOSTIN: It`s her show. And I`ve got to tell you, it sounds a lot like sour grapes to me from Rosie O`Donnell. She walks off the show. She wanted to be the grand dame. That`s Barbara Walters` seat and she was dressed down many times.
I say it`s all sour grapes. I think Barbara Walters should have done what she did. She needs to school them on how to provide your point of view on "The View." She did the right thing.
HAMMER: All right. I do want to move from one grilling on "The View" today to another, and this was fantastic. The ladies collectively grilled Levi Johnston this morning. You`ve got to watch what happened when Barbara asked Levi about his plans to run for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska and why he thinks he would be a good mayor. Roll that.
WALTERS: You don`t think you need to have any experience?
LEVI JOHNSTON, FATHER OF BRISTOL PALIN`S SON: I believe you. I believe anybody - you`ve got to listen to the people. I feel like if I go around and talk to people, just like anybody else or any other mayor - I feel like maybe not now. I might not be ready, but a year from now, yes.
GOLDBERG: What is your platform? What can you do that no one else can do? Why should they vote for you as mayor?
JOHNSTON: At this point in time, I couldn`t tell you. It`s very -

I said I was running for mayor, what, a month ago?
ELISABETH HASSELBECK, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": You`re running right now? You`re still running in the ticket.
JOHNSTON: It`s just starting now.
SHERRI SHEPHERD, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": Usually, when people say they`re running for mayor, they`ve thought about it before they actually run.

HAMMER: All right. Here`s the thing. I think Levi fully succeeded in proving all of his critics right. This guy just seems lost. He was thrown into the world of being in front of the camera. Now, he`s trying to make something of it. But quite frankly, he doesn`t belong there.
And quickly, Jim, it looks to me like he`s just kind of making it up as he goes along.
MORET: Oh, it was horrible. It was horrible. He`s had a month - he`s had a month to think about his platform. If you said, "I`m running for mayor," you have a month to think about it. It was painful.
ANDERSON: But he`s has had enough time.

HAMMER: But he`s showing his ignorance in that he doesn`t understand or seem to recognize that somebody who is well-qualified or has experience is better suited to help his town than he could. I`ve got to end it there. Jim Moret, Sunny Hostin, thank you both.

ANDERSON: She was America`s iconic mother - Barbara Billingsley, who played June Cleaver in the classic TV sitcom which I loved, "Leave It to Beaver." Today, 53 years after the show first debuted, America is paying tribute to America`s mom who just died at the age of 94.
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood with A.J. Hammer here. It really is the end of an era today.
HAMMER: It is, Brooke, because Barbara Billingsley was not only America`s mother but she was also part of an iconic TV family that, to this day, really remains a symbol of America`s innocence and, quite frankly, innocence lost.
At the center of the family was, of course, the Beav, the kid who just couldn`t stay out of trouble and often had be to rescued by his brother, Wally. Jerry Mathers played the Beav.
Jerry joins us today in Hollywood. It really is terrific to see you. It`s been a long time. I`m sorry it`s under these circumstances, Jerry -
JERRY MATHERS, ACTOR: This is a - Saturday was a sad day. But Barbara was a lovely lady. And the people that watched her on the show knew her one way. But she was just as nice, if not nicer than what you saw on TV.
HAMMER: Jerry, I`ve got to tell you I was just astounded by the reaction to Barbara`s death. I was following it on the Internet. It was number one trending story. "Leave It to Beaver" ended in 1963. All these years later, why has her death struck such a chord?
MATHERS: Well, you know, it`s the longest running television show in history - scripted show. It`s been on the air now all these years. It ran all over the world. And I think people really grew up with the show, not just one generation, but several.
So we have fans and it`s still on the arrow so people are still watching it. And she`s just somebody that, when you see her, she was nicer than June Cleaver - Barbara Billingsley.
ANDERSON: Well, I love that you say that because she played June Cleaver to perfection, but you say she was like that in real life - kind, warm, patient, caring. She was the quintessential mother that all women aspire to be.
But, Jerry, we also got to know her from that movie "Airplane," when she really cracked us up as the woman who played the translator for the passenger speaking jive. Let`s watch a clip from that.

BILLINGSLEY: Oh, stewardess, I speak jive.
UNIDENTIFIED ACTRESS: Oh, good.
BILLINGSLEY: He said that he`s in great pain and he wants to know if you can help him.
UNIDENTIFIED ACTRESS: All right. Would you tell him to just relax and I`ll be back as soon as I can with some medicine.
BILLINGSLEY: Just hang loose, blood. You`re going to catch up on the rebound.

ANDERSON: OK. That was really so out of character compared to the June Cleaver image. But she knew how to laugh at herself, didn`t she?
MATHERS: A wonderful sense of humor. And she did know how to laugh at herself. And she would still do that when people would come up to her. I`d been with her many, many times and people come up and say, "Do you speak jive?" And she would go right into that line. And people go, "She really does."
ANDERSON: Oh, what a talent.
HAMMER: Do you still stay in touch with Tony Dow, who, of course, played Wally?
MATHERS: Definitely. He`s an artist. He just opened a piece about a year ago in the Louvre in Paris. He`s a sculptor. He`s, right now, back in Kansas City at an art show showing some of his art.
HAMMER: Have you spoken with him since her death?
MATHERS: Yes, I have. And we are just all saddened. We, in some way, knew it was coming. And it`s just a - it`s a dark day and we all feel very, very badly about it.
ANDERSON: What will her legacy be? Very quickly.
MATHERS: I think that what she was, not only for "Leave It to Beaver," but she was quite a philanthropist. In the Sta. Monica area, she was very involved in charities, always had been.
She was, you know, the perfect mom that no one could be like on the show, but she was very close to that. She was just such a lovely woman. And everyone will miss her so much.
ANDERSON: She will be missed for sure. Thank you, Jerry Mathers.
MATHERS: Thanks, Brooke. Thank you.
ANDERSON: All right. A.J., we are getting a lot of passionate calls and Facebook comments today about Joy Behar`s and Whoopi Goldberg`s dramatic walkout.
HAMMER: Yes. Joy and Whoopi, of course, stormed out the set in response to Bill O`Reilly controversial comments about Muslims and 9/11.
Now, Jan from Florida doesn`t agree with Joy and Whoopi`s decision to walk off the set, writing this, "Joy and Whoopi were unprofessional. Bill should have said `Muslim extremist,` not just Muslim. But Joy and Whoopi should stay on their seats."
Now, Hubertine called in to say, way to go, Joy and Whoopi.

HUBERTINE, CALLER: I think they should have walked off of this show because they were so upset. It`s better to leave and calm down than to say something that will be very upsetting to everybody.

ANDERSON: And I`m Brooke Anderson with big news breaking today - is Justin Bieber a victim of bullying?
HAMMER: Bullying Bieber. Yes, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT working really hard today to sort out exactly what happened. Justin Bieber`s bumpy weekend started off with a laser tag game in Canada and it ended with an investigation of Bieber`s hot new confrontation with a 12-year-old boy. But did the 12- year-old boy hurl a homophobic slur at Bieber?
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Kareen Wynter joins us right now from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Hollywood newsroom with the very latest developments. Kareen?
KAREEN WYNTER, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT CORRESPONDENT: Well, A.J., the details behind what really happened between Bieber and the boy remain a little murky today. TMZ is reporting the 12-year-old claimed that he was hit by Bieber at the laser tag facility in Richmond, British Columbia.
Now, his father complained to police Sunday, launched the investigation. During their alleged confrontation, the 12-year-old reportedly called Bieber a homophobic slur. The Bieb reportedly told police that the boy stuck his hand out at ham and that he pushed it away.
Now, TMZ is reporting today that Bieber is now ready to lend his support to Hollywood`s big anti-bullying campaign, especially bullying targeted at gays. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has reached out to Bieber`s reps and we have not heard back from them as of show time. A.J.?
HAMMER: All right. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Kareen Wynter, thank you so much. Right now, in Atlanta is Jenn Hobby who is the co-host of radio`s "The Bert Show" on Z100 in Atlanta. And with us in Hollywood, Jim Moret, the chief correspondent for "Inside Edition." Jim is also the author of this book - it`s called, "The Last Day of My Life."
So there are some reports today that police are investigating Justin Bieber. He might even be charged with assault. At this point, as you`ve heard, we don`t know exactly what`s going to happen. But no matter what happened here, I think it is a terrific idea that Justin Bieber might join up with the anti-bullying campaign.
Of course, Ellen DeGeneres really kicked this thing off with a big celebrity push following the suicide of a gay teenager who was bullied.
Jenn, to you first. If Justin did join up with this campaign, I mean, this would be huge. He should absolutely do this, shouldn`t he?
JENN HOBBY, CO-HOST, "THE BERT SHOW" ON Z100: Absolutely. It`s a great idea, A.J. I mean, he`s known for his pop songs. He`s known for that haircut. And then, he could also be known for something a little bit more solid, you know, something he could stand on as a platform and stand up for kids his age going through this.
HAMMER: And this is so important particularly right now, Jim, given everything that`s going on. And Justin, if he speaks out, would be the first person in his age group to be a part of this sort of anti-bullying campaign. I think it will be huge.
MORET: You know, the time is right. Look, there`s so many kids who are dying because they`re the target of bullying. CNN had a - recently did an excellent special on this. You need someone of that generation to be the face of this issue. He`d be great for it.
HAMMER: Because that`s where it all starts.
MORET: It is where it all starts.
ANDERSON: And millions of people have Bieber fever. They love him. They respect him, so I think he could make an impact.
MORET: And Eminem recently also came out and he said he was the target of bullying when he was a kid. See, you`ve got the 30-somethings. You`ve got somebody 16. I think it would be great for Justin Bieber.
ANDERSON: The dialogue has begun, which is important.
HAMMER: Yes.
ANDERSON: Well, you know, the guy who broke the Bieber story is Canadian blogger, Zach Taylor. And this morning, on "Access Hollywood Live," he told Billy Bush that Bieber actually was not bullied. Watch.

ZACH TAYLOR, CANADIAN BLOGGER: My sources are the staff that were working that night as well as the owner`s daughter. And they tell me 110 percent the kids were not yelling any homophobic slurs at Bieber. They were just shooting him with the gun. And he was just running through like any other kid playing laser tag.
BILLY BUSH, HOST, "ACCESS HOLLYWOOD LIVE": Wait. Did they know it was the Biebs? Did he have a mask on? Or was it like, "Bieber!" and everybody went crazy trying to get to Biebs?
TAYLOR: They didn`t know it was him inside the maze. But I think Bieber (UNINTELLIGIBLE) was like 10 bodyguards or something to protect him from the 12-year-old.

ANDERSON: So according to this blogger, the kids didn`t even know it was Justin Bieber. He also claims that no one at the laser tag facility saw or heard the 12-year-old make that homophobic slur.
Jenn, Justin Bieber better get used to this kind of stuff, right? It goes with saying, doesn`t it, no matter what you do, you`re going to be closely watched.
HOBBY: Exactly. He`s not a normal kid anymore. And it sounds like he was just trying to be a teenager, go have some fun and be a boy and play laser tag. And this is what it turns in to. Hopefully, though, it can turn into something good and he can join this anti-bullying campaign.
ANDERSON: Yes, hopefully so. For a little guy, can`t even have an innocent game of laser tag.
HOBBY: Right.
ANDERSON: All right. I`ve got to move now to the outrage over Vince Vaughn`s use of the word "gay" in the trailer for his newest film. Vince is speaking out. But today, he`s getting slammed for what he said.
Also, Eminem and Rihanna are reportedly teaming up again for a sequel to their music video, "Love the Way You Lie." And Tyra Banks could be in a heap of legal trouble. It`s all making big news in "The Buzz" today.

(voice-over) Tyra`s big trouble. Tyra Banks has just been slapped with a big lawsuit by a ballistic mom. A Georgia woman is demanding $3 million after her 15-year-old daughter appeared on Tyra`s talk show about teen sex ads without parental consent.
The "Atlanta Journal Constitution" reports the girl answered an online casting call and Tyra`s producers flew her from Georgia to New York and provided hotel lodging, all without her parents` permission. The mom also wants to prevent future airings of the episode.
Eminem`s huge Rihanna reunion. Rihanna and Eminem are making a sequel to their shocking monster hit duet, "Love the Way You Lie." "JustJared.com" is reporting the new song, "Love the Way You Lie, Part Two," will appear on Rihanna`s upcoming album, "Loud," which drops November 16.
Vince Vaughn blasted. Vaughn has just been slammed by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation for his statement defending controversial dialogue in his upcoming comedy, "The Dilemma."
Universal Studios yanked the trailer in which Vaughn`s character berates a car by calling it gay. And in a statement last week, Vaughn insisted, quote, "Comedy and joking about our differences breaks tension and brings us together."
GLAAD struck back on its Web site saying, quote, "Vince is right. Comedy does bring us together unless one of us is the punch line. Then it pushes us apart."

ANDERSON: OK. Vince Vaughn also said in a statement to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, "Drawing dividing lines over what we can and cannot joke about does exactly that. It divides us. Most importantly, where does it stop?"
It seems to me here that Vince is saying that we are in danger of becoming too politically correct in movies. Jim, does Vince have a point here?
MORET: Yes. Look, political correctness is a dangerous road. Once you go down it, you don`t know where to turn. But you look at certain films and the time they were made. "Blazing Saddles," 1974, extensive use of the N- word. You couldn`t make it today.
And you look at the time today. Gay rights, gay civil rights, getting married, being in the military, bullying - if this film were made two, three years ago, it may not be an issue, but it is an issue today.
ANDERSON: It is today.
MORET: So you know what? Maybe it`s just wrong, take it out of the film and just deal with it.
ANDERSON: Well, whether we agree or disagree with what Vince said, you know, I admire him, A.J., for taking a stand and speaking out at the risk of major backlash.
HAMMER: Yes.
ANDERSON: What do you think?
HAMMER: You know, I agree with you completely. And you know, you talk about the bullying, Jim, and the fact that, you know, this is a really tough time to be dealing with an issue like this because artistic expression is at risk here.
Movies are supposed to reflect what really goes on in real life. I agree it should have come out of the trailer and I`m happy that they pulled it out of the trailer. I think it would have been a mistake to keep it in there. But you know, it`s a tough thing, but I admire Vince a great deal for the fact he stood up.
ANDERSON: Yes. (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

HOSTIN: I don`t believe her. Oh, my god. I can`t contain myself on this one. First of all, 30 is not old in my opinion. But she`s got a porno movie that anyone can buy. So she`s already been seen naked in all her glory.
