(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: After her daughter was kicked off "Dancing with the Stars." Wait until you hear what mom`s now saying today.

ANNOUNCER: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show starts right now.

(MUSIC)

ANDERSON: Hi, there. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood with big news breaking today - LeAnn`s blown cover? There is a remarkable about-face from "Shape" magazine today because so many readers are bent out of shape over LeAnn Rimes being put on the cover.

And the reason they`re so worked up over the workout magazine? Well, let`s just say it has everything to do with LeAnn`s confession that, yes, she did indeed leave her husband for the husband of another woman. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT with the shocker today that nobody saw coming.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(voice-over) Want to know how to get legions of women bent out of shape? Put a cheating celebrity on the cover of "Shape."

LEANN RIMES, SINGER: Yes, I`ve been under a lot of stress. The media can tear you apart.

ANDERSON: Today, it`s LeAnn Rimes and "Shape" magazine that are being torn apart. LeAnn appears on "Shape`s" Web site and the cover of its October issue to talk about life with her boyfriend, former "CSI Miami" star, Eddie Cibrian, following their scandalous extramarital affair. The cover reads "LeAnn Rimes: How Working Out Saved Me."

RIMES: Working out is actually such a stress relief for me.

ANDERSON: Now, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you furious readers are hitting Rimes with harsh words like "tramp" and "home wrecker" as they slam the fitness magazine for giving Rimes the cover girl treatment.

And today, the heat has gotten so bad, "Shape" magazine is bending over backwards to explain itself to angry readers.

DAVID CAPLAN, MANAGING EDITOR, "TOOFAB.COM": Essentially, many readers really perceived it`s glorifying that she essentially, you know, cheated on her own husband and she had an affair with a married man.

ANDERSON: LeAnn Rimes` reputation as country music`s biggest sweetheart all fell apart in March of last year when "Us Weekly" exposed her illicit affair with Eddie Cibrian. "UsMagazine.com" posted this super- steamy surveillance video of the two on a clandestine romantic dinner, complete with kissing and hand-holding. Both stars were married to other people at that time.

CAPLAN: All of a sudden, she emerged as a home wrecker.

RIMES: My life has changed a lot in the last year and a half.

ANDERSON: In her recent "Shape" interview, Rimes expressed regret for the affair, which she blames in part on having gotten married at 19. And in clips posted on "Shape`s" Web site, she shared details about her life with Cibrian.

RIMES: My boyfriend has two children so like I`m juggling helping with the kids now, which is a completely different thing.

ANDERSON: But as soon as "Shape" hit newsstands, its largely female readers hit the roof, swamping "Shape`s" Web site with bitter complaints. One reader fumed, quote, "I plan to cancel my subscription after you put that tramp on your cover."

Another angry reader wrote, "This is the only time in my life I`ve ever torn a cover off a magazine before I read it. Shame on `Shape.`"

CAPLAN: Even the cover line on the magazine says sort of, you know, how exercise and fitness helped her through. And many readers were just not sympathetic.

ANDERSON: Now, celebrity Web site, "TooFab.com," has obtained the apology E-mail that "Shape`s" editor-in-chief is sending to ticked-off readers. It says, quote, "Please know that our putting her on the cover was not meant to put a husband-stealer on a pedestal but to show through her story how we all are human."

David Caplan is the managing editor of "TooFab.com," the site that obtained that E-mail. He tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT "Shape" is in a tough position.

CAPLAN: They`re really scrambling.

ANDERSON: "Shape`s" editor now says her apology is being taken out of context. In a statement to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, "Shape`s" editor-in-chief says, quote, "The fact is a mere 40 readers out of almost six million readers wrote in to complain. I wrote to those women apologizing that our cover choice did not make them happy, as I have done for other cover stars in the past."

CAPLAN: "Shape" magazine now is essentially backtracking.

ANDERSON: The LeAnn Rimes "Shape" controversy may remind other magazines you put a star at the center of a bitter cheating scandal on your cover, be prepared to run for cover.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

I`ve got to tell you I was shocked to see LeAnn Rimes on the October cover issue of "Shape" so soon after she essentially broke up, not one, but two marriages. But I`m not surprised "Shape" magazine is now apologizing for the story. Here`s our SHOWBIZ Flashpoint - was an apology really necessary, though?

In Hollywood is Ramani Darvasula who is a psychologist on the Bravo series, "Intervention." She`s also a psychology professor at UCLA. Also, in Hollywood, Pat Lalama. She is an investigative journalist and the guest host of tonight`s "NANCY GRACE" show here on HLN.

All right, ladies. The editor of "Shape" magazine told SHOWBIZ TONIGHT the magazine stands by its decision to put LeAnn Rimes on its cover and sent this apology E-mail. I want to reiterate it was only sent to 40 readers who complained. Even so, Pat, to our SHOWBIZ Flashpoint - was an apology necessary?

PAT LALAMA, ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALIST: I don`t know that it was necessary. Two things - I think it`s taking the high road. If you find that your viewers are upset with something you did, hey, take the high road and apologize.

It`s also a good marketing strategy. They don`t want the dirt on them, so to speak. I think it was a smart thing to do. I don`t think they had to do it.

ANDERSON: Yes. I think it was a nice thing to do. And I think for the readership, it was definitely the smart thing to do. But Ramani, a lot of people are saying "Shape" was showing sympathy to someone who was essentially seen as an adulterer.

RAMANI DARVASULA, PSYCHOLOGIST, "INTERVENTION" ON BRAVO: I don`t think they were showing sympathy at all. They simply put someone on the cover that they felt used exercise and health and wellness as a way to get over a stress.

You may not agree with the source of her stress, but the fact of the matter is, she did and she belongs on "Shape." And the fact is, if we only put people on magazine covers who never cheated on a marriage, you`d have a lot of magazines without covers.

LALAMA: Ramani, hold on. I love you. I love you, but I`ve got to tell you this, are you telling me a national magazine can`t come up with 10 other women who deserve it more, a woman who suffered from breast cancer and worked out to get through that or someone who lost a child?

I mean, there`s all kinds of - if you`re looking for a celebrity, there`s plenty of celebrities who have real issues. I want to say one thing, though. I think the use of the word "home wrecker" - I have a little problem with that, because there isn`t an equivalent word for the man. So I just had to throw that out there.

ANDERSON: He`s a home wrecker, too. Let`s not take Eddie Cibrian out of the equation.

LALAMA: Yes, he`s a home wrecker. And we talk about people not getting rewarded - he shouldn`t get rewarded for anything. But the fact of the matter is, there`s just so many more deserving women who deserve that post than her.

ANDERSON: And we can`t forget that "Shape" not only put her on the cover, did a story about her inside their issue. They did an entire behind-the-scenes video about LeAnn`s new life with Eddie Cibrian, her boyfriend, whom, you know, she left her husband for. And LeAnn talks about playing a role in the lives of his kids with another woman. Watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

RIMES: I`m every other woman that has issues depending on what day it is. My life has changed a lot in the last year and a half. My boyfriend has two children so, like, I`m juggling helping with the kids now, which is a completely different thing.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: OK. I think LeAnn here kind of missed a golden opportunity to redeem herself by - she could have apologized directly in her "Shape" interview and she did not. So Pat, is it time for LeAnn to publicly just say, "I`m sorry, everybody. I`m sorry"?

LALAMA: I think she`s shameless. I think she`s reveling in this whole thing, "I`m getting attention. And yes, I`ve got this cool new boyfriend and who cares if there`s kids and marriages with other people? I`m on the cover of a magazine. And I`m just a hot (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

ANDERSON: But it`s not cool. Yes, it`s not cool.

LALAMA: It`s odd. And I`m happy to see some moral outrage for a change.

ANDERSON: Yes. And the one person who has not spoken out about LeAnn`s cheating shenanigan is that guy we mentioned who is also involved, Eddie Cibrian. You know, he`s not Mr. Innocent here, cheated on his wife with LeAnn.

DURVASULA: Yes.

ANDERSON: But Ramani, do you think if it were Eddie and not LeAnn on the cover of a fitness magazine, do you think we would even be debating this today?

DURVASULA: No.

ANDERSON: Is there some sort of ugly double standard still out there? I`ve got to say - sorry not to let you speak just yet, but I`ve got to say if, you know, a men`s magazine - men predominantly are reading it. But if I got wind of it, I would be debating it. I would be outraged. Ramani, what do you think?

DURVASULA: I`m there`s very much - I mean, the myth of Jezebel is alive and well. When the woman is cheating, we still put a scarlet A on her chest. When the man is doing it, we tend to be more forgiving.

But at the end of the day, "Shape" is not a magazine about putting heroes on the cover. Whether we agree or don`t agree with what LeAnn Rimes did, she went through the stress of making some difficult decision, perhaps bad decisions in her marriage, and this is how she coped with it, through exercise and diet. So I don`t know that changes -

ANDERSON: You`re right. They`re not a magazine about putting heroes on the cover. But Pat -

LALAMA: No.

ANDERSON: I think the message they were trying to send -

LALAMA: Exactly.

ANDERSON: Can get very easily lost when you put somebody on the cover who has such a fresh scandal. You think home wrecker. You don`t think fitness.

LALAMA: It sends the wrong message.

ANDERSON: We`ve got to end it there -

LALAMA: Come on. They couldn`t come up with another more deserving woman?

ANDERSON: They very well could have. They put LeAnn on that cover three times. Maybe they felt comfortable with her. Ramani Durvasula, Pat Lalama, good talking with you. Thanks.

All right. Moving on now to Charlie Sheen and Brett Favre. Charlie`s shocking alleged cocaine and porn-star rampage, Brett`s reported sexy text. These guys are so out-of-control. But check this out - there`s a startling claim today that Brett`s wife and Charlie`s ex may actually want to thank them for their scandals.

Caught on tape, Audrina Patridge`s mother`s wild rant after her "Hill`s" star daughter was kicked off "Dancing with the Stars."

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

L. PATRIDGE: Audrina is going to (EXPLETIVE DELETED) rise. And she`s got class, and do you know why? Do you know why?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Because she comes from you.

L. PATRIDGE: (EXPLETIVE DELETED) that. She`s a (EXPLETIVE DELETED) Polish Catholic, (EXPLETIVE DELETED) full-on Italian.

ANDERSON: "The Hills" are alive with some serious potty mouth. Wait until you hear what mom`s now saying today.

And listen to this - Paula`s "Idol" showdown. Explosive reports today that Paula Abdul`s new show may go head to head with "American Idol." The SHOWBIZ Flashpoint today - which would you rather watch? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

And now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Please welcome "American Idol" judges Randy Jackson, the multi-talented Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith`s Steven Tyler.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Regis and Kelly always have terrific costumes for Halloween. This year, they did the "Jersey Shore," "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and the new "American Idol" judges.

Reg showed up as "Aerosmith`s" Steven Tyler. Kelly dresses up as Jennifer Lopez. So will there be tricks or treats for "American Idol"?

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood with this bombshell just in today - who`s judging now?

Unbelievable reports out that Paula Abdul`s new show, "Live to Dance," could go up against the one and only "American Idol," which brings us to our SHOWBIZ Flashpoint today - which show would you rather watch?

Right now, in New York, is Ereka Vetrini. She`s the senior editor of "In Touch Weekly."

Ereka, "American Idol" a great show, highly respected. But Paula may be able to knock our socks off here with her new show. I`m personally a little conflicted. To our SHOWBIZ Flashpoint, in this head-to-head battle, Ereka, which show would you rather watch?

EREKA VETRINI, SENIOR EDITOR, "IN TOUCH WEEKLY": OK. Come January, Brooke, I am going to be watching "Live to Dance," Paula Abdul`s show. And this is why. I know what we get when we tune in January to "American Idol." We`re getting to get a bunch of sad auditions with a few kind of diamond-in-the-rough performances, right?

ANDERSON: Right.

VETRINI: And that just kind of depresses me. And I don`t need to feel all that. I`m willing to give Paula Abdul`s show a shot. I love dance competitions and I think that it`s going to be a really great show.

ANDERSON: Yes. "American Idol," you`re right, the formula has become a little bit predictable. Paula Abdul, anything but predictable.

VETRINI: Right.

ANDERSON: Good point. All right. I`ve got to move now to more surprising big "Idol" news today. Bad boy Kid Rock is slamming new "Idol" judge Steven Tyler.

In a brand-new interview with "Entertainment Weekly," Kid Rock is not holding back on what he really thinks about Tyler becoming a judge on "Idol."

Here`s what he says, "I think it`s the stupidest thing he`s ever done in his life. He`s a sacred American institution of rock `n roll and he just threw it all out the window, just stomped on it and set it on fire. I love him to death but I`ve got to speak the truth."

Well, Kid Rock, we know, is a call-them-like-he-sees-them kind of guy. But Ereka, do you think he went a little too far here?

VETRINI: Well, first of all, what is Kid Rock doing giving career advice, right? I mean, I`m not sure how that goes there. And I`m pretty sure it`s not the stupidest thing Steven Tyler has ever done. He is a rocker.

But you`ve got to see his point a little bit here. I mean, OK, so Jennifer Lopez - we`re used to seeing in reality and on television, in movies. She`s a singer.

Steven Tyler is a rocker. And it is going to be - it`s an odd career choice for him, I think. I don`t think we will ever see him quite the same once he`s done "American Idol."

And it`s interesting to see - I wonder if it will endear us more to him or perhaps he`ll fail and - I don`t know.

ANDERSON: Maybe be a little disconcerting. We shall see.

VETRINI: Yes.

ANDERSON: Well, some people are saying today that, you know, maybe Kid Rock is doing this all for publicity of his new album. But Ereka, I don`t really think he would really stoop to the level of criticizing an icon and a friend just for an album. Quickly, I think he`s just being honest here about -

VETRINI: I think he`s being honest, too, but why throw in "I love the guy"? You bash him for the whole first part of the article and then you love the guy? I mean, I think Kid Rock was speaking his mind, but then followed it through.

(CROSS TALK)

ANDERSON: Got to love him for it. Ereka Vetrini, thank you. Good to have you.

And now, we want to hear from you. It is our exclusive SHOWBIZ TONIGHT poll - "Paula Abdul`s Dance Show Versus `Idol`: If they go head to head, which one would you watch?" Paula`s "Live to Dance" or "American Idol"? Vote CNN.com/ShowbizTonight. E-mail us showbiztonight@cnn.com.

Hey, maybe "Hills" Audrina Patridge can try out for Paula`s show. She just got voted off "Dancing with the Stars." And you know what? Audrina`s mom just went off on a wild rant about that.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

L. PATRIDGE: My baby`s a star.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, she is.

L. PATRIDGE: She`s the only one that has some class and I don`t give a (EXPLETIVE DELETED) about it.

ANDERSON: Whoa, mom. Chill. Wait until you hear what Mommy Patridge is saying today.

Miley`s mess? Big news today about Miley Cyrus` divorcing parents and their custody request.

And Taylor Swift gets grilled today by Ellen about her love life.

ELLEN DEGENERES, HOST, "THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW": So you continue to write about ex-boyfriends. You would think that people would be scared to even be near you.

ANDERSON: What is Taylor saying about John Mayer? And is Taylor really dating Jake Gyllenhaal? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

And now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

TEXT: Justin Bieber to debut music video for "Never Say Never" during game three of World Series. New "Carrie Bradshaw" book cover revealed, "Summer and the City" out April 2011.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ROBERT DOWNEY, JR., ACTOR: I really don`t want to stop and buy drugs. Is that OK?

ZACH GALIFIANAKIS, ACTOR: You know what? I didn`t want to play this card, certainly not this early. But guess what? Guess who`s got the Subaru Impreza? Me. Guess who`s got all the money? Me. Guess who has a winning personality? Me. What do you have? You have a nice hairline.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: This movie looks really funny. Zach Galifianakis and Robert Downey, Jr. in "Due Date." They take a chance, hit the road together, and things get all cuckoo.

And today, Robert Downey, Jr. is defending Mel Gibson for taking a chance on him. You know Robert Downey, Jr. has had plenty of personal problems, battling drugs. Mel gave him a shot, though, and cast Robert Downey, Jr. in a film just after he kicked his drug habit.

So as Mel goes through the fight of his life, all those alleged terrible voicemail messages, getting booted from "The Hangover" sequel, Robert is standing up for Mel today.

Robert tells "HollyScoop.com," "The great thing about Mel is that you know someone for 25 years. Whenever someone asks you a question about him in the media, it doesn`t mean anything. I just talked to the guy and we have a friendship."

Now SHOWBIZ TONIGHT was right there at the premiere of Downey`s road trip comedy, "Due Date." He plays a dad-to-be who has to hitch a ride with Zach Galifianakis` character to make it home in time for his kid`s birth.

So we had to ask both of them, what would a real-life Downey-Zach road trip be like?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

GALIFIANAKIS: You know what? It would be a nice discussion. Robert would tell me all about his Hollywood days. And Robert and I get along very well so I think it would be a lot more of a gentlemanly ride than this movie is.

DOWNEY: It would wind up with him being forcibly rolled out of the passenger door at about 70 miles an hour. Pardon me?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Why?

DOWNEY: Well, look at the guy. He`s a pain in the (EXPLETIVE DELETED).

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Robert just joking around. Zach seems like a really nice guy. By the way, that was Downey`s beautiful wife, Susan, with him. She`s an executive producer on "Due Date." It`s due in theaters November 5th.

And here now is the SHOWBIZ lineup - here`s what`s coming up on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT at the bottom of the hour.

Charlie Sheen, Brett Favre - their shocking alleged sex scandals. The startling claim today that Brett`s wife and Charlie`s ex may actually want to thank them. What?

Miley`s mess. Big news about Miley Cyrus` divorcing parents and their custody request. Could this get nasty?

And listen to this. You can now stick Kim, Khloe and Kourtney in your wallet. A Kardashian credit card? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

And now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

Miley`s mess? Big news about Miley Cyrus` divorcing parents and their custody request. Could this get really nasty?

Plus, breaking today from the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker," Tom Cruise`s new "Mission Impossible" movie has a name. And the "Teen Mom" star salary shocker.

ANNOUNCER: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show continues right now.

(MUSIC)

ANDERSON: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It`s 30 minutes past the hour. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood with big news breaking today - for the love of scandal.

An outrageous controversy exploded today over whether or not Charlie Sheen`s ex-wife and Brett Favre`s wife should be thanking them for their alleged sex scandals.

That may sound crazy, but there`s a good reason people are asking that question. Right now, in Hollywood, Ramani Durvasula, who is a psychologist on the Bravo series, "Intervention." Ramani is also a professor of psychology at UCLA. Also, in Hollywood, Pat Lalama who is an investigative journalist. She`s also the guest host of tonight`s "NANCY GRACE" show here on HLN.

OK. Ramani, Pat, both Sheen and Favre`s scandals exploded just as the women in their lives were about to promote major projects. Deana has a new book. Denise has a new TV show.

Take a look at what "Pop Eater" columnist Jo Piazza wrote today, "Denise Richards and Deana Favre should thank the lousy men in their lives. Denise`s ex-husband, Charlie Sheen, was found in a compromising position in a New York City hotel room. And Brett Favre is being accused of sending sultry text messages and pictures to an NFL hostess."

"Before Charlie was fond with his pants around his ankles at the Plaza, did any of you know that Denise was making a return to acting? How many more people will be buying Deana`s book because they want to know how she deals with living with such a cad. It`s sad to say, but these scandals are only bolstering these women`s brands."

Pat, I`ve got say I completely disagree that these women should be thanking these cads.

LALAMA: I don`t think so. I think it`s a very sad statement. Here`s the thing. I think in a lot of celebrity marriages, there is that quid- pro-quo where, "All right, you do your thing and I`m getting my thing out of it, OK?"

And I think maybe even in the case of Denise Richards - I know you guys will get mad at me because I dog her a lot -

ANDERSON: You`re in a business relationship with (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

LALAMA: But I think Denise - what, she thought she was going to change Charlie Sheen when she married him? She`s getting something out of it.

ANDERSON: Many women do, though.

LALAMA: Well, the thing about Deana, though, is here`s a woman who is a cancer survivor. Here`s a woman who stuck with that man when he was downing 50 Vicodin a night. She`s been to hell and back. She deserves better.

I hate to say it. She probably is getting more mileage because my understanding is the book is sort of pop culture cliche, self-help. God bless her for doing it. I hope it does well for her. But this is going to probably going to sell a few more for her and that`s going to be the consequence.

ANDERSON: Ramani, do you think these women should be thanking these men for these oh, so lovely scandals?

DURVASULA: They absolutely should not be thanking them. They`re not succeeding because of them. They`re succeeding despite them. These women have been publicly humiliated. They`ve endured humiliation that happened before this.

And if they`re able to dust off and turn lemons in lemonade, good for them. These men have not contributed to their success. If anything, these women had to work twice as hard to get themselves to a place of success. If it`s all good timing, well, then, good for them. Let them get something good out of nothing that (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

(CROSS TALK)

ANDERSON: Well, that`s a good way to look at it, I think. But I think it`s ludicrous that anybody should say they should thank them, because no publicity -

DURVASULA: No, absolutely not.

ANDERSON: Or anything of this sort is worth the men mistreating them or their families, disrespecting them in such a horrible way.

DURVASULA: Absolutely not.

ANDERSON: And I think that Charlie`s ex-wife, Denise Richards, really went out of her way in most of her interviews to say that she was thinking of her kids first and that is why she`s choosing to stay silent about Charlie`s mess. I`ll get to you in a second, Pat. Watch what she said on NBC`s "Today" show right after Charlie`s scandal broke.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DENISE RICHARDS, ACTRESS: The thing that I`ll say is, I did not call - I wasn`t screaming or freaking out. I did not call 911. And other than that, the details of what went on in the room, what went on that night, I prefer to keep private and personal.

My daughters are very unaware of what happened and really trying to protect them. And you know, this is Charlie - if he wants to discuss it, then I`ll let him do it. But other than that, at the moment, right now, I don`t want to say anything.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: OK. She was pre-booked for that appearance to plug her new show. You know, I think, in a way, she chose to take the high road here. You disagree. But Pat, she had a long series of interviews. There were many opportunities where she could have slammed Charlie and she did not.

LALAMA: Let me tell you something, there was a publicist and a lawyer and a couple of other people who took her aside and said, "Denise, honey, shut up. Don`t talk about it." This is not some altruistic thing that she did. I mean, I know she`s not a bad person -

ANDERSON: But she was thinking of her kids. She wants to shield the children.

LALAMA: The sake of her kids? She was talking about what sexual position she likes on Howard Stern two days ago. When they get older, they`re not going to be able to hear that?

ANDERSON: I`m not saying - I`m not saying Denise did not want any sort of attention. But the point of doing interviews for a new show is to get attention. People do it in different ways.

We may not agree what she did on Howard Stern and talking about sex and that sort of thing, but it`s ludicrous, Pat.

LALAMA: It`s hypocrisy.

ANDERSON: Ramani, do you agree that it`s hypocrisy?

DURVASULA: No. I don`t think it`s hypocrisy. I mean, the fact is Denise is in a business where needs to get attention drawn to her. And if in this particular case, the timing is right, she`s doing her interviews about her shows. She`s not talking about Charlie Sheen. She`s talking about the new (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

ANDERSON: If anything, I think it probably made it more awkward and more uncomfortable for her to have to face these types of questions.

All right. I do have to move now, ladies, to more news breaking today. Is there a custody battle brewing between Miley Cyrus` parents? Betty White stands up for gay marriage. And a brand-new credit card courtesy of the Kardashians? It all making news in "The Buzz Today."

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(voice-over) The Kardashian sisters, don`t leave home without them. Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian just announced they`re launching a Kardashian prepaid Master Card. The card let`s you skip the ATM and transfer money to the card through the phone.

On her blog, Kim says, "There are so many more amazing features to this card and I`m so excited to share it with you guys. I think you guys are going to love it."

Betty White stands up for gay marriage. The feisty White tells "Parade" magazine, quote, "I don`t care who anybody sleeps with. If a couple has been together all that time and there are gay relationships that are more solid than some heterosexual ones, I think it`s fine that they want to get married."

And she`s got some advice for people who are against gay marriage saying, "Mind your own business. Take care of your affairs and don`t worry about other people so much."

Cyrus custody battle? Miley`s parents are splitting up. And now, we`re just learning Billy Ray Cyrus is asking for, quote, "share of the care, custody and control" of the couple`s three minor children. Custody may not be an issue for Miley who turns 18 soon, but could affect her younger siblings, Grayson and Noah.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

ANDERSON: All right. Pat, there is a whole lot of money in this Cyrus money because of Miley`s career. Do you think it could get nasty?

LALAMA: I don`t know because I don`t know the details. I`m guessing there aren`t sex tapes and that there aren`t weird pictures -

ANDERSON: No, absolutely not.

LALAMA: Any extramarital affairs, I`m hoping - I`m hoping, hoping, hoping not. I have a feeling that these two people will be reasonable, conscientious, good parents as they work into the process.

ANDERSON: Yes. And they`ve been married a long time. They`re adults. Hopefully, they will be civilized. Ramani, do you think a nasty custody could break out? Hopefully not. Very quickly.

DURVASULA: There`s no science to that. And in fact, the shared custody is good for the kids, that the kids get time with both parents.

ANDERSON: Yes.

DURVASULA: It sounds like a good thing. There`s no detail otherwise.

ANDERSON: And shared custody is very, very common in a divorce situation.

DURVASULA: Yes. I think it`s very common and I think it`s terrific.

ANDERSON: Ramani Darvasula, Pat Lalama, thank you both.

All right. Caught on tape - Audrina Patridge`s mother`s bizarre rant after her daughter got kicked off "Dancing with the Stars."

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

L. PATRIDGE: My baby`s a star.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, she is.

L. PATRIDGE: She`s the only one at that has some class and I don`t give a (EXPLETIVE DELETED) about it.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Whoa, ho, ho. Wait until you hear what Audrina`s mommy is saying today.

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is about to name the most provocative celebrity of the week today. Will it be Charlie Sheen for his naughty New York night, allegedly, with a porn star, allegedly with drugs? Mel Gibson for getting the boot from "The Hangover" sequel? How about David Arquette for blabbing so, so much about his split from Courteney Cox?

Hey, Taylor Swift is getting grilled by Ellen about her love life. Is she dating Jake Gyllenhaal? And what is she now saying about John Mayer? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

And now, we`ve got the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

TEXT: Anne Hathaway tops list of highest "bang for buck" actress, the woman who offers studios the best return on investment. MTV`s "Teen Mom" stars earn a reported $60,000 to $65,000 per season.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Pretty good wife, pretty good mom.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Ditto.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I`m not going to be a good mom and good wife.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: A good father and a good husband.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Oh.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

L. PATRIDGE: Audrina is going to (EXPLETIVE DELETED) thrive. She`s kicking (EXPLETIVE DELETED) on a reality show, especially Lauren Conrad (EXPLETIVE DELETED) little fashion (EXPLETIVE DELETED). That (EXPLETIVE DELETED) wants to bring it on, let`s go.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Looks like Audrina Patridge`s mom had a little too much to drink after her daughter was eliminated from "Dancing with the Stars" and clearly, she had a lot to say.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood. Today, drinking with the stars? Audrina Patridge`s mother admits to having one too many after her daughter`s surprising elimination from "Dancing with the Stars."

And today, she wants everyone to know her tipsy tirade was a mistake, but is the damage done?

Right now, in New York, Ereka Vetrini who is a senior editor for "In Touch Weekly." Also, in New York, Chuck Nice, who is a comedian.

Ereka, Chuck, Audrina`s mom defended her daughter. But during this drunken rant, she took major jabs at Audrina`s former co-stars on "The Hills." Watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

L. PATRIDGE: I was a celebrity mother for eight years through this (EXPLETIVE DELETED). Audrina is going to the next level, baby.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes, she is. And we are here to support her to the next level.

L. PATRIDGE: No, she`s got it in her.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She does. Out of all "The Hills" girls, I like her.

L. PATRIDGE: (EXPLETIVE DELETED) "Hills" girls are tramps. My baby`s a star.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Well, today, Audrina`s mother is having some regrets about this tipsy tirade. She`s now apologizing. Lynn Patridge tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, "I am sincerely sorry for the negative things I said in the heat of the moment. As a mother, there is no pain in this world like seeing your children upset. I am so proud of my daughter and all she has accomplished on `Dancing with the Stars.`"

I was extremely emotional after her elimination. It just came as such a shock. I want to apologize for offending anyone." I`ve got to say, I am sure Audrina is mortified about her mother`s behavior.

Chuck, Audrina`s mom says she was emotional after the elimination. That`s an understatement. But is there any excuse for behavior?

CHUCK NICE, COMEDIAN: Absolutely. Of course, there`s an excuse for this type of behavior. First, let me say that`s a classy lady.

ANDERSON: I know.

NICE: Secondly, let me just say this. I can understand why she was upset. In the one hand, you have an upset mother who is bravely defending her daughter in the face of her own drunkenness.

On the other hand, you have an angry, drunken stage mom who is still living vicariously through her daughter. Either way, it`s love.

VETRINI: No!

ANDERSON: Chuck "Tongue-in-Cheek" Nice. Well, Audrina`s mother did mention Audrina`s new VH1 reality show multiple times in her rant. But Ereka, I`m thinking Audrina`s probably not going to thank her mom for the free publicity here even though the video has become viral.

VETRINI: Oh, she will not be thanking her. This is not - I`m a mother. I have a great mom. This is not a mom that`s protecting her child. This is a mom who wants a bite of the spotlight that her daughter is in.

Now, the thing is that Audrina may have some reason to actually thank her. Well, I think she`s a beautiful girl and I think she`s a lot classier than her mom. I do find her a little bit bland and a tad bit boring.

So I do think that this viral video will actually bring attention to the show. And I would probably tune in just to see the dynamic between mother and daughter. So really, she does have something (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

ANDERSON: Well, I`m sure it might be - there might be some fireworks, especially after this.

VETRINI: Oh, yes.

ANDERSON: Although Audrina`s mother did not use her best judgment when she went on her tipsy tirade, it was not enough to be shamed SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s most provocative celebrity of the week.

Here are this week`s nominees. We`ve got Charlie Sheen for his horrible alleged cocaine and porn star hotel rampage; Mel Gibson for getting booted from "The Hangover" sequel; David Arquette for his nonstop blabbing about his split from Courteney Cox.

We asked our great viewers at home to text their votes, also vote on the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Facebook fan page. Check this out. Charlie won the text vote with 64 percent of the votes. But on our Facebook fan page, Charlie won with 61 percent of the vote.

Chuck? We got Charlie. We got Charlie. It`s unanimous. Who is your pick there?

CHUCK: Well, let me just say that, first of all, I won money so thank you, viewers, thank you very much. Secondly, of course it`s Charlie Sheen. I mean, come on. Mel Gibson went on a racist tirade and now, he gets kicked off a movie and the only person who defended him was Mike Tyson. And when Mike Tyson is your moral advocate, buddy, you really have pooped the bed, OK?

David Arquette is a wussy who had sex with another woman after he got dumped by his wife, went on Howard Stern, cried about it and admitted that he cried. Charlie Sheen is both of those crazies all wrapped up in one.

ANDERSON: All wrapped up in one. Well, the moment of truth has arrived, guys. Drum roll please, Charles. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT names - oh, yes. Charlie Sheen - he is the most provocative celebrity of the week.

He`s a complete mess. He cannot get it together. I think he is the obvious winner as well, Chuck. Ereka, do you agree with our pick?

VETRINI: Yes, of course. And the best part is he gets away with it. How? What I want to know is how he gets people to defend him. The authorities look away. His exes kind of support him. He`s got viewer kind of saying -

NICE: Could I answer that, Ereka? Could I answer that?

VETRINI: Sure.

NICE: Here`s why he got away with it this time. Here`s why. I`ve got to tell you the truth. If I was in a hotel room and I was naked and that woman told me that before we could go any further, I need to give up $12,000, I might trash the room, too.

VETRINI: $12,000? He lost a $150,000 watch.

ANDERSON: Oh. It`s all a big mystery, though, about Charlie Sheen and how he does continue to get away with it. We`re going to leave it there for now. Ereka Vetrini, Chuck Nice, thank you both.

And we`ve got to move on. Two brand-new details today about Taylor Swift`s love life. Taylor Swift just sat down with Ellen DeGeneres. Let me tell you Taylor got grilled.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DEGENERES: So you continue to write about ex-boyfriends. You would think that people would be scared to even be near you?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: What`s Taylor saying today about John Mayer? Is she dating Jake Gyllenhaal? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

And now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

TEXT: Tom Cruise reveals name of next "MI" film: "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol." Kelly Osbourne pays tribute to James bond in head-to-toe gold body paint.

ANDERSON: It`s time now for the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT buzz list. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT staff is buzzing about Tyler Perry`s movie called "For Colored Girls." It hits theaters November 5th.

"Dancing with the Stars" champs Apollo Ohno and Kristi Yamaguchi go head to head for the show`s 200th episode. That`s on Monday.

And Prince`s New York City concert tickets go on sale Saturday. I wonder if there will be any tickets that are going for $19.99.

The NBA season just started. We are buzzing about the Miami Heat`s dream team of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh.

And it is the 25th anniversary of "The Goonies" movie. Check out what Corey "Mouth" Feldman told us. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

COREY FELDMAN, ACTOR: I literally get everything from, you know, "Goonies never say die" to "truffle shuffle." I mean, I`ll be doing a concert with my band and, you know, there`s 10,000 people in the audience and you hear people yelling out "Baby Ruth." (END VIDEO CLIP)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

ANDERSON: Taylor Swift breaks her silence today about her love life - sort of. OMG, everybody is talking about Taylor Swift`s love life - that is everybody except Taylor. Taylor really got people talking when they heard some the songs on her new album that dropped this week.

Is "Dear John" about her ex or supposed ex, John Mayer? Taylor just sat down with Ellen DeGeneres today and Ellen grilled her. So did she really get Taylor to set the record straight once and for all?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DEGENERES: You continue to write about ex-boyfriends. You would think that people would be scared to even be near you because you - they have to know, right, because that`s what you do. You write about your experience.

TAYLOR SWIFT, SINGER: That seems to be the pattern, yes.

DEGENERES: And there`s a new one that people are speculating that it was about John Mayer because it`s "Dear John." It could just be a "Dear John" song. I could just -

SWIFT: It could be.

DEGENERES: It could just be that.

SWIFT: That song kind of is what it is.

DEGENERES: OK, great. We know the answer now. It`s about him. So now - well, you didn`t dispute it.

SWIFT: I`m still going to continue to write about my life. And I guess people are going to continue to speculate about it. And I`m going to continue to never tell them who the song is about.

DEGENERES: Right. But it`s about him.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: Yes. I kind of agree with Ellen. Now, I want you to listen to what Taylor told Ellen about all the reports that she`s dating Jake Gyllenhaal.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DEGENERES: If you were to write a song right now about love, how would that go?

SWIFT: What?

DEGENERES: Like if you would just write a song, is it - are you optimistic about love? How do you feel about love right now?

TAYLOR: I`m always optimistic about love.

DEGENERES: Right now, you are?

TAYLOR: Well, why wouldn`t anyone be right now?

DEGENERES: Especially if your boyfriend is Jake Gyllenhaal because he`s very handsome.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

We`re all just hanging out, though, right?

SWIFT: You have a picture of us on the screen, don`t you?

ANDERSON: Right. But it`s just you hanging. This doesn`t prove anything. I`m just saying he`s adorable and I like him very much. And so if that is the case, that`s your boyfriend, I think that`s fantastic. Wouldn`t he be nervous about if anything goes wrong, there`s another song?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ANDERSON: They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Ellen showed proof of Taylor and Jake together. Maybe they were just hanging out. Sure looked like they were having a good time. Are they friends? Are they Hollywood`s new "it" couple? We`ll just have to wait you see.

All right. On Thursday, we asked you to vote in our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusive poll. I did just get the stunning final results. "David Arquette: Should he stop talking about his split from Courteney Cox?" A whopping 94 percent of you say yes. Six percent say no.

Here`s an E-mail. Darlene from New York writes, "David should talk to either his best friend or a therapist, certainly not Howard Stern."

I agree, Darlene. And if Howard Stern is one of his best friends, maybe talk off air next time.

And that is a wrap for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Thank you so much for watching. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is live at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Monday through Friday. And we`re still TV`s most provocative entertainment news show seven days a week. That`s at 11:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific. Take care. END
