A.J. HAMMER, CO-HOST: We`ve got big news breaking today on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT - secrets behind the royal shocker. Prince William`s bombshell today that he and Kate Middleton are engaged.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
PRINCE WILLIAM OF WALES: We both have a very fun time together. We both have a very good sense of humor about things.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT uncovers the startling connection today between Kate and Princess Di.
BROOKE ANDERSON, CO-HOST: No pre-nup? What? The exclusive reports today that Jessica Simpson may be getting married without a pre-nup. Just say it isn`t so.
HAMMER: Bristol battles back. Bristol Palin speaks out for the first time today about the "Dancing with the Stars" tea party conspiracy theory.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BRISTOL PALIN, SARAH PALIN`S DAUGHTER: It can work both ways, me being Sarah Palin`s daughter. They can either hate me or they can love me.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: But wait, there`s more. Bristol and The Situation teaming up today to talk about sex?
ANDERSON: Say what? Lindsay Lohan`s mom turning her son into an onscreen heroin addict?
HAMMER: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show starts -
ANDERSON: Right now.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
HAMMER: Hello. I`m A.J. Hammer coming to you from New York City.
ANDERSON: Hi, there, everyone. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood with big news breaking today - royally engaged.
HAMMER: And here comes the royal bride. Prince William and Kate Middleton dropped an early morning bombshell today confirming they are engaged to be married.
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you that there are already remarkable connections between Kate and the prince`s late mother, Princess Diana. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is also bringing you the very first interview with William and Kate today, just hours after their announcement.
Let there be no doubt that the legend and legacy of Princess Di is already firmly entrenched on Kate`s finger.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
(voice-over) Behold the new royal couple. Prince William and his long- time girlfriend, Kate Middleton, faced the cameras today in their first appearance as husband-and-wife-to-be. And in one of their first public statements together, the newly engaged couple couldn`t stop gushing over each other.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
PRINCE WILLIAM: We both have a very fun time together. We both have a very good sense of humor about things.
KATE MIDDLETON, PRINCE WILLIAM`S FIANCEE: William has looked after me. He`s treated me very well.
HAMMER: The future king and his bride-to-be may have been relaxed and joking this morning. But SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you their surprise engagement announcement left the world gasping with shock this morning.
NBC`s "Today" show admitted they, like everybody else, were caught off guard.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: They`ve taken everybody by surprise, including the international press. And we`re all here scurrying.
HAMMER: Now, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you Prince William and Kate`s wedding is shaping up to be the wedding of the century, maybe even bigger than the wedding of last century - the marriage of Prince William`s parents, Charles and Diana.
JESSICA CALLAN, NEWS DIRECTOR, "LIFE AND STYLE WEEKLY": Diana and Charles` wedding famously had 750 million viewers around the world watching on TV. This will be absolutely similar, if not more.
HAMMER: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you Prince William and Kate Middleton`s engagement caps an almost decade-long British love story.
CALLAN: They met at a university in 2001. They got together in 2002, 2003 after he saw her at a charity modeling show at the university. They split up in 2007 very briefly and then they got back together again.
She`s famously been dubbed in the U.K. "Waity Katie" because she spent eight, nine years hanging around with a man who hasn`t proposed yet.
And so, finally after eight, nine years of being together, they finally announced that they`re getting married.
HAMMER: Chatting with the media today, Prince William talked about the couple`s long road to marriage.
PRINCE WILLIAM: I didn`t realize it was a race, otherwise I would have been a lot quicker, but also the timing is right now, we`re both very happy, and I`m very glad that I have done it.
HAMMER: And this smiling young couple appears to be the exact opposite of the nervous Prince Charles and Lady Diana and their cringe-worthy interview when they first faced the cameras after their engagement in 1981.
CALLAN: Someone famously asked Charles, you know, "How does it feel to be in love?" And he went, "Well, whatever that means," which was just so awkward and cringe-worthy. It`s so lovely and refreshing to see Kate and William relaxed, joking. They`re just like a normal young couple except that he`s going to be the king of England.
HAMMER: And now that Prince William has popped the question, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you all eyes are now on his future queen and everyone is comparing her to Prince William`s late mother, Princess Diana.
CALLAN: The difference between Kate is she`s older than Diana was when she got engaged. Diana was 19. Kate is 28. She`s absolutely gorgeous and I think she`s got the grace that Princess Diana had.
HAMMER: Prince William and Kate Middleton`s wedding is expected to take place next year. 2011 also marks the 30th anniversary of Prince Charles and Princess Diana`s storybook wedding.
It`s also the year Princess Diana would have turned 50. And at today`s engagement announcement, Prince William paid tribute to his beloved late mother announcing that he had given his bride-to-be Princess Diana`s engagement ring.
PRINCE WILLIAM: It`s my mother`s engagement ring, so it`s very special to me. It`s my way of making sure my mother didn`t miss out on today and excitement on the fact that we`re going to spend the rest of our life together.
HAMMER: And after the last fairytale royal wedding ended with scandalous affairs, a bitter divorce and a tragic death, this engagement finally gives royal watchers their chance for a royal happily ever after.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
ANDERSON: A royal happily ever after indeed. This truly could be the wedding of the century. With me, right now, just outside Buckingham Palace, Richard Quest, who is a CNN correspondent. And in Hollywood, Melanie Bromley, who is the west coast bureau chief for "Us Weekly."
OK, Melanie, Richard, so just how big is this royal engagement news? Check this out. This is going to be the first wedding of its kind in almost 25 years. Most British broadcasters today cancelled their regular programming, instead have been running specials on the royal family.
And by the time this day is over, more than two million people are expected to congregate outside of Buckingham Palace. Richard, what do you think? Is this all being fueled by the fact that this is the son of the still beloved Princess Di?
RICHARD QUEST, CNN INTERNATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: There is an element of that about it. But I think, frankly, the U.S. media is more concerned about that than anybody else. The reality is that William is going to be king and Britain today learned who his queen is going to be.
And we`re not living in some halcyon days of the past mourning Diana ad nauseam. This is about what will happen in this country in the future. And Kate, a commoner, upper middle class, is going to be that person. The torch has been passed.
ANDERSON: The torch has definitely been passed. Well, the next big question that people are dying to know and it`s maybe just us Americans, Richard, is which designer will create Princess Kate`s wedding dress.
Melanie, there are reports out there that Kate should and most likely will choose a British designer. What are you hearing?
MELANIE BROMLEY, WEST COAST BUREAU CHIEF, "US WEEKLY": Well, I think this is kind of like a race because we`re expecting about a billion people to tune into this wedding so everybody will want to dress her. She has a favorite designer, which is a Brazilian designer called Issa. But of course, she will be -
ANDERSON: (INAUDIBLE). OK.
BROMLEY: She will be expected to wear British like it might be Christopher Bailey, who is Brit. It might be Bruce Oldfield. We`ll have to see, but all these designers will be clamoring right now to try and dress her.
ANDERSON: No question. They`re probably scrambling as we speak.
BROMLEY: Oh, my gosh. I`m shocked.
ANDERSON: What can we design to show her to get her to pick us? Well, you know, as you just heard, Prince William presented Kate with his late mother`s engagement ring.
I thought it was wonderful. What a great tribute to Diana. But I want to you watch what Kate said about Princess Diana. Here it goes.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MIDDLETON: Obviously, I would love to have met her. And she was an inspirational woman to look up to. And obviously, to this day, very inspirational, so, yes, I do.
PRINCE WILLIAM: There`s our future - because there`s no pressure. Like Kate said, you know, it`s about carving her own future. No one is trying to fill my mother`s shoes.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: Prince William clearly stating there that nobody is looking for Kate to fill his mother`s shoes. And I agree. Kate is Kate. Richard, like you said, nobody`s living in the past here and Kate really is vastly different from Diana, isn`t she, in terms of upbringing, in terms of personality?
QUEST: Hugely different. First of all, as you`ve already been talking, she`s a lot older. She`s had her own job in the past. She`s had a university education. She`s lived with William for eight years.
Diana and Charles barely knew each other, strangers that must seem in this day and age. William and Kate live together in North Wales where he`s in certain military service. The differences are so great that it`s not even like - it`s chalk and cheese to compare the relationships at the moment.
And that was crystal clear from that interview we saw - relaxed, comfortable, humorous, not some simple young woman looking up adoringly at her beloved prince.
ANDERSON: Obviously, they know each other very, very well. They were completely at ease, as you say, Richard, in that interview. I think Kate is going to bring her own unique style and grace to the royal family.
Congratulations to them. Melanie Bromley, Richard Quest, thank you both.
HAMMER: Moving on now from a joyous union to really one of the nastiest splits in history. Mel Gibson`s ex, Oksana Grigorieva. She`s breaking her silence today, telling CNN`s Larry King about her bitter custody battle with Mel and the real reason behind those bone-chilling tapes allegedly of Mel on the brink.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
LARRY KING, HOST, "LARRY KING LIVE": Why, Oksana, did you tape him?
OKSANA GRIGORIEVA, MEL GIBSON`S EX-GIRLFRIEND: For a few reasons. I started taping a lot of the calls because I thought I`m actually not going to live through the night. I`m actually not going to live through the night, and nobody -
KING: He`s going to come over and kill you?
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Oksana`s disturbing new Mel confessions today on the record for the very first time.
ANDERSON: Jessica Simpson`s big mistake. There are explosive reports today that Jess might be getting married without a pre-nup. Oh, Jess, you know you can`t do that!
HAMMER: Here`s a couple I did not see coming, Bristol Palin and The Situation together and they`re talking about sex.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BRISTOL PALIN, SARAH PALIN`S DAUGHTER: I`m worried about you and you practicing safe sex.
MIKE "THE SITUATION" SORRENTINO, CAST MEMBER, "JERSEY SHORE": I actually practice a whole lot. I mean a whole lot.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: My eyes. My ears. You`ve got to stick around for this. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.
Time for the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.
TEXT: Randy and Evi Quaid remain fugitives after missing fourth court hearing. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT talks to Daniel Radcliffe about saying goodbye to "Harry Potter."
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DANIEL RADCLIFFE, ACTOR: Yes, it is a little bit. You know, it`s going to be more and more nostalgic in the eight months` time when it really is the last one. But yes, it`s (INAUDIBLE).
(END VIDEO CLIP)
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
KING: Why, Oksana, did you tape him?
GRIGORIEVA: For a few reasons. I started taking it around 11:00 because I thought I`m actually not going to live through the night. I`m actually not going to live through the night and nobody -
KING: He`s going to come over and kill you?
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: Mel Gibson`s ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, tells CNN`s Larry King why she secretly taped those now-infamous, explosive calls believed to be from Mel. It`s her very first interview since the whole Mel mess began.
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood, A.J. Hammer in New York.
HAMMER: And Oksana says it is unforgivable what Mel Gibson supposedly did to her as she tells her side of the story for the very first time.
Well, today, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT obtained the very first look at Larry King`s interview with Oksana about her bitter custody battle with Mel Gibson over their young daughter, Lucia, and the oh, so explosive phone calls.
With me is Midwin Charles, who is an attorney with Midwin Charles and Associates.
OK. You`ve got to watch this - Oksana`s explanation for taping Mel. She tells Larry King she had no choice. Take a look.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
KING: Why, Oksana, did you tape him?
GRIGORIEVA: For a few reasons. I started taping it around 11:00 because I thought I`m actually not going to live through the night. I`m actually going to live through the night and nobody -
KING: He was going to come over and kill you?
GRIGORIEVA: Yes. That`s what he said in those tapes if you heard it without interruption.
KING: We`ll hear some more, yes.
GRIGORIEVA: Without any clipping.
KING: They were edited.
GRIGORIEVA: Yes. Yes. I have non-edited and it`s pretty frightening and it`s completely unforgivable.
KING: So you were taping him in the thought that you`d be killed and you wanted the world to hear this?
GRIGORIEVA: I wanted my mother to be able to prove that if I`m dead that this is who did it.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Now, Mel Gibson has not responded to CNN`s request for a response. I have said all along if she genuinely feared for her life, I cannot blame her one bit for taping these phone calls. Can you, Midwin?
MIDWIN CHARLES, ATTORNEY, MIDWIN CHARLES AND ASSOCIATES: Well, the problem is that it`s not normal for people to do this, right? If you fear for your life, the first thing you do is pick up the phone and call 911. You don`t take the time to record the conversation.
You almost have to ask yourself, what is the motive do that? Is it entrapment? Because if you really are in fear, the first thing you do is contact law enforcement.
HAMMER: Yes. That is a good point, but she`s sticking by her story that she didn`t feel she had any choice. Now, Oksana also claims she got back with Mel after he allegedly hit her.
I want you to watch as she talks about forgiving him after she claims he beat her. Now, we have reached out to Mel Gibson and his people for a response. We have not received one.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
GRIGORIEVA: I forgave him in a couple of weeks` time after the first, you know, severe beating that, you know, he struck me twice with a fist and then he was choking me. And last - I was holding Lucia and not protecting myself. And my son witnessed everything.
Then we ran towards the pool and he`s been screaming and yelling and then he told us, you know, to get the F out and went to get the gun. And I asked my son to get in the car and that`s how we left the 6th of January. And from then on, every day, he was apologizing.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: All right. Again, Mel Gibson has not responded to CNN`s request for a response. But Midwin, how difficult is this going to be for Oksana if she can`t provide solid proof that Mel in fact hit her?
CHARLES: It will be difficult. And I think the way in which she`s gone about this has really hurt her credibility, right? Because as I said before, if you really are in fear of someone, the first thing do you is you call the police.
You don`t go about it yourself and videotape the conversation almost as though it`s something you want to use later in the future in order to gain something or some sort of advantage.
HAMMER: Now, a judge said he didn`t want her talking about this. She said she feels obligated to talk about this because she doesn`t want to let battered women everywhere down. Is she setting herself up for a big problem here by speaking out about this right now?
CHARLES: She might be. I mean, if there`s a confidentiality order or a gag order and she`s violating it, then, yes, she can be held in contempt of court.
HAMMER: All right. Midwin Charles, I thank you as always. And you definitely do not want to miss Larry King`s exclusive interview with Mel Gibson`s ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva. There`s so much more on the explosive taped phone calls and allegations of physical abuse on "LARRY KING LIVE," Wednesday at 9 p.m. Eastern on CNN.
Well, some people actually think Lindsay Lohan`s mom isn`t exactly mother of the year. And today, there may be one more reason why that`s true. As Lindsay recovers in rehab - listen to this - Lindsay`s brother is about to play a drug addict on screen in a movie that Lindsay`s mom is producing.
ANDERSON: Ryan Seacrest gets serious with Julianne Hough. Julianne`s new confessions today about Ryan`s big step - meeting her folks.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
ELLEN DEGENERES, HOST, "THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW": Has he met your parents?
JULIANNE HOUGH, ACTRESS AND BALLROOM DANCER: Yes. But everybody`s like, "Oh, you met the folks?" And it`s like - I don`t know. Both of our families are like our best friends so we hang out. It`s more just like hanging out with friends.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: OK. I`m thinking Jessica Simpson might be blinded by romance today. There are some brand-new reports floating around out there that Jess might walk down the aisle without a pre-nup. Is that really such a good idea for Jessica Simpson? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.
It`s time for the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - these are more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.
TEXT: Carey Mulligan asked to star in "The Great Gatsby" with Leonardo DiCaprio. Taylor Swift tells "Allure" she used to give friends bad advice about guys.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(MUSIC PLAYING)
ANDERSON: I cannot wait to see Christina Aguilera`s new movie, "Burlesque." And I`ve got to hand it to Christina. It is pretty bold to play opposite Oscar winner Cher, especially if it`s your very first film. So was it a war of the divas on set?
Today, it`s Christina`s and Cher`s confessions to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT was right there last night at the Hollywood premiere of "Burlesque" and it was a mad house. Christina has millions of fans. Cher has been an icon for a generation.
So you know, some people thought they might not have been able to play nicely together on the set of their new film. Well, Cher says forget all that diva stuff. They`re just a couple of normal girls.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
CHER, ACTRESS AND SINGER: We both had the same dream. So we`re girls and we both had the same dreams from the time we were little. So this is the same stuff - same stuff, different day.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: One dream that Christina still has, becoming a respected actress like Cher. And Christina reveals that when the director yelled "cut," that`s when the real work began, learning every single thing she could from Cher herself.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
CHRISTINA AGUILERA, ACTRESS AND SINGER: Filled with personal and professional advice. And you know, I just learned a ton. She was just amazing to learn from. What a great first-time around teacher - that`s Cher.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: "Burlesque" opens next Wednesday.
HAMMER: Jay-Z, news correspondent? Well, the rapper and entertainment mogul revealed today why he thinks hip-hop, just like CNN. It`s one of the fascinating details uncovered in Jay`s new book called "Decoded."
The book is out today and it`s all about Jay-Z`s lyrics which are all about his life. In a brand-new interview with "CNNMoney.com" anchor, Poppy Harlow, Jay explains how hip-hop acts as the CNN of the hood.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
POPPY HARLOW, ANCHOR, "CNNMONEY.COM": Does hip-hop and rap have a responsibility to report and not just entertain, to take it one step further?
JAY-Z, RAPPER AND ENTERTAINMENT MOGUL: Yes, of course. You know, you can`t entertain - it`s everything. Rap is - you know, it`s entertaining. It`s informative. It`s provocative. It`s funny. It`s silly. You know, it`s all of these things, so absolutely.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Provocative, funny - just like SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. To see Poppy`s entire interview with Jay-, go to "CNNMoney.com."
ANDERSON: And now, the SHOWBIZ lineup - here`s what`s coming up at the bottom of the hour on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.
Bristol Palin and The Situation together talking about sex.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
SORRENTINO: I totally respect abstinence. It has the word "abs" in it. I`m on the situation. I love that.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: This is taking the term "strange bedfellows" to a whole new level.
"Harry Potter" Emma Watson sports a daring new do. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT dares to ask - love it or hate it?
Shocking reports in late today that Eva Longoria Parker and her husband Tony Parker have split. We`re getting to bottom of that. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.
And now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - these are more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.
TEXT: Adam Lambert to release exclusive five-song acoustic album. NBC renews "30 Rock" and moves the show to 10:00 p.m.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Big news breaking today on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT - Bristol battles back today. Bristol Palin speaks out about the "Dancing with the Stars" tea party conspiracy theory.
And Bristol is also talking about sex with The Situation.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
B. PALIN: I`m worried about you and you practicing safe sex.
SORRENTINO: I actually practice a whole lot. I mean, a whole lot.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Bristol, The Sitch and sex. Oh, my.
ANDERSON: The explosive reports today that Jessica Simpson may be getting married without a pre-nup.
HAMMER: Ryan the romantic? Julianne Hough reveals brand-new secrets today about her boyfriend, Ryan Seacrest.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DEGENERES: Is he romantic? Is he a good boyfriend?
HOUGH: Oh, my gosh. He`s phenomenal. He`s really romantic. I mean, he`s not even in town and I got in my car and there`s like flowers everywhere.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Plus, breaking today from the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - Lindsay Lohan`s role up for grabs? And Bret Michaels goes on tour.
ANNOUNCER: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show continues right now.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It is 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer coming to you from New York City.
ANDERSON: And I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood with big news breaking today - Bristol Palin battles back. You know, Bristol is sick and tired of critics claiming that political pushers for her mother, Sarah, are the only reason that she`s in the semifinals on "Dancing with the Stars."
In a brand new interview today, Bristol is bristling at the conspiracy theories and telling the world, love her or hate her, she`s in it to win it.
Right now, in New York, is Megan Alexander, who is a correspondent for "Inside Edition." Right now, with me in Hollywood, Melanie Bromley, who is the west coast bureau chief for "Us Weekly" magazine.
OK. Megan, Melanie, Bristol is furious over all the wild conspiracy theories out there that she`s lasted so long on "Dancing with the Stars," thanks to Sarah Palin supporters.
Well, Bristol is now battling back. And in a passionate interview with "E! News," Bristol says she`s had just about enough. Watch.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
B. PALIN: I work my butt off here. I come in every day. I rehearse every day. I`m totally out of my element here and I think I deserve to be here. And when people say, "Oh, it`s just because of the tea party," I always think of - think of all the people out there that hate my mom.
Like, why don`t we talk about that? Why don`t that be another topic of conversation? So it can work both ways, me being Sarah Palin`s daughter. They could hate me or they could love me.
And I`m just thankful that we`re still in this competition. And I really don`t care who is voting for us, but thank you for voting for us.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: OK. Melanie, do you think Bristol has a good point there, that, hey, there may be just as many people not supporting her because Sarah Palin is her mother?
BROMLEY: I think she has a great point because a lot of people hate her mother, so she has a really good point. And part of the show actually is not just about being a great dancer, but having that kind of progression, working very hard.
And we know she wasn`t a very good dancer to begin with. So I think that some people are probably voting for her because she is trying so hard to be a good dancer.
ANDERSON: Yes. Yes, people love to see that improvement.
BROMLEY: Exactly. Exactly. She`s never going to be the best dancer in the world, but she`s trying hard.
ANDERSON: That`s right.
BROMLEY: And I think that people recognize that.
ANDERSON: A-plus for effort. And she`s likable. And you know, I`ve got to say Bristol is not apologizing for anything. And I think that`s commendable because we are talking about a dancing competition here.
And I do think - I agree with Melanie - she`s done a really great job. Megan, if anything, Bristol has really created a new fan base entirely separate from her mom`s political life, don`t you think?
MEGAN ALEXANDER, CORRESPONDENT, "INSIDE EDITION": She absolutely has. But let`s not forget the only reason Bristol`s on "Dancing with the Stars" is because of her mom, Sarah Palin.
ANDERSON: True.
ALEXANDER: The tea party did very well in the midterms. Now, they`re taking over reality television. Brooke, there is a Web site "Conservatives for Palin," that gives you detailed instructions on how to vote for Bristol on "Dancing with the Stars."
I think she`s - you know what? I think that she understands that. But now she`s coming into her own and she does want to be rewarded for her hard work and she certainly has gotten better.
But let`s not forget, you know, Sarah Palin`s fan base will take you to places you never even imagined
ANDERSON: You`re right. And her name, her Palin name, is why she was chosen to begin with to be on "Dancing with the Stars." We won`t forget about that.
But do I think she`s earned some fans on her own. Well, she has also opened up in that same interview about whether or not there`s still hope between her and the father of her baby, Levi Johnston. She tells "E! News" that that ship has sailed. Watch.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Is there a part of you, though, that`s still, at all, in love with him anymore?
B. PALIN: No. No, no, no. Yes. We broke up when Tripp was, like, two weeks old - broke up. Didn`t talk to each other. Didn`t see each other for over a year and then, really, looking back on it, I was like dang, like, I didn`t even try to make it work with Tripp`s dad.
And I really want him in Tripp`s life and wanted to fix him and get him on a better path in life and tried to do that for a while and that didn`t work with him. And I`m over it. I`m moving on and I`ve just accepted the fact that I`m a single mom and I am responsible to raise Tripp.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: I`ve got to say that`s the most I`ve ever heard Bristol talk about Levi. And it sounds like she`s over him. But Melanie, we have seen them reconcile before. So do you think there`s hope that they might get back together again?
BROMLEY: Absolutely not. I`ve actually flown to Alaska, I`ve spent time with the two of them. We broke the engagement news with them. It`s like - being with the two of them in a room with just me and they are not meant to be together.
During my interview with them at that time, I was asking them questions about their relationship, about healing the kind of wounds of the past. And I was asking them questions about things they hadn`t even thought of themselves. They`re completely on different levels. They`re just not meant to be together.
ANDERSON: So your questioning may have been the impetus for them breaking up.
BROMLEY: I was just definitely asking them about things as far as - you know, Levi had said some negative things about Bristol`s mother and just asking him why he said that.
ANDERSON: True.
BROMLEY: And at the end of the interview, you know, Bristol would turn to Levi and be like, "Yes, I want to know why you said that." And I was shocked.
ANDERSON: There were a lot of problems and you noticed that from the very beginning.
BROMLEY: I was shocked (INAUDIBLE).
ANDERSON: Yes. Right. Well, Bristol says, you know, she`s through with Levi and that may be the case because she`s already got another man in her life, "Jersey Shore" star, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino. A.J., what`s the situation there?
HAMMER: Well, Brooke, thankfully, I can tell you it`s not a romantic situation. Thank goodness for that. Bristol and The Sitch have teamed up, however, to promote safe sex, of all things. It`s a PSA for the Candies Foundation. Talk about an awkward situation. Would you roll that, Charles?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
SORRENTINO: I totally respect abstinence. It has the word abs in it. I`m on the situation. I love that.
B. PALIN: Very funny. But I`m worried about you and you practicing safe sex.
SORRENTINO: I actually practice a whole lot. I mean a whole lot.
B. PALIN: Talk about the safe part of that.
SORRENTINO: The safe part - we`ve got the safe part down pat. Wapow! Magnums. You know what? I might be able to spare one and I`ll give you one.
B. PALIN: It`s fine. I avoid situations.
SORRENTINO: All right. Good, good. If you`re good at avoiding situations and you`re situated and I`m situated, situation`s under control.
B. PALIN: Well, I`m glad that we agree on one thing. Pause before you play.
SORRENTINO: Pause before you play - that`s probably the most important thing. You`ve got to think before you get into a situation.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: OK. I`m thinking that these two are actually perfect for each other. Think about this. She`s a teen mom and a lot of people would say he`s a teen`s mom`s worst nightmare. Megan, I`ve got to say it`s brilliant casting as weird as it is.
ALEXANDER: It`s brilliant. That is the most ridiculous commercial I`ve ever seen. A.J., I think a lot of people respect Bristol and what she`s gone through. You`re talking about a guy who, with his buddies - they marked notches on their bedpost over their complex.
HAMMER: Yes. But he`s saying (INAUDIBLE).
ALEXANDER: And the booze running freely.
HAMMER: He`s not - he`s saying, "I do all of that but I do it safely."
ALEXANDER: Sure.
HAMMER: All right. Let`s just move on, shall we? Because there is more big news breaking today, Brooke. A lot of people are making a really big deal about "Harry Potter" star, Emma Watson, and her new do. The hair is definitely different. I think she looks terrific, though.
ANDERSON: Yes, I do, too. And A.J., you know, all the little muggles out there, though, were shocked when Emma`s long, curly locks magically disappeared for the first time.
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT was right there in the biggest movie premiere on the planet, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part One," here - there in New York City. And the biggest buzz on the red carpet - Emma`s hair, of course. She debuted her short and sassy, very on her Miami look. And she told us that she`s surprised on how much attention the hair is getting. Watch.

EMMA THOMPSON, ACTRESS: It is pretty nuts. I mean, I knew it would kind of be a bit shocking, but I didn`t realize it would cause this much of a stir. But yes, it`s fun. I`m loving it. I`m really enjoying it.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And it feels pretty freeing, right?
THOMPSON: It does. It feels very liberating. It`s nice to have something new.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: Melanie, I think she looks adorable. Quickly, love it or hate it?
BROMLEY: I love it. I think most teenagers kind of get to dye their hair green or have piercings. She never got to do that. This is her chance to kind of express herself in the way she want to be.
ANDERSON: Why not? It`s fresh. It`s chic. It fits her. Megan Alexander, Melanie Bromley, thank you, ladies.
HAMMER: Moving on now, no pre-nup. Say what? Yes. There are explosive new reports today that Jessica Simpson could get married without a pre-nup. Jess, come on. I know you`re way smarter than that.
And Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough aren`t ready to walk down the aisle yet, or are they? Julianne reveals bombshell secrets today about Ryan meeting her folks.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DEGENERES: Has he met your parents?
HOUGH: Yes. But everybody`s like, "Oh, he met the folks." And it`s like - I don`t know- both of our families are really like our best friends.
DEGENERES: Right.
HOUGH: So when we hang out, it`s more like hanging out with friends.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: And is Lindsay Lohan`s mom really making her son play a heroin addict? The shocking new report today. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.
Here comes the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

HAMMER: Just in late today, an explosive report ignited a frenzy online saying that "Desperate Housewives" star, Eva Longoria-Parker, and her NBA star husband, Tony Parker, are splitting up.
Well, we put the SHOWBIZ truth squad on the case. Here`s the real deal with this. Eva Longoria-Parker`s rep tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT the divorce report is, quote, "100 percent false."
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. Brooke Anderson is in Hollywood.
ANDERSON: A.J., there`s big news in "The Buzz Today." A member of the Lohan family is set to be a drug addict in a brand-new film. Brad Pitt is reportedly ready to go mining. Plus, are Britney Spears` parents back together?
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
(voice-over) Britney`s family back together. Britney Spears` mom and dad have reportedly reconciled. Lynn and Jamie Spears divorced eight years ago after 30 years of marriage.
But now, "People" magazine just revealed they`re a couple again. A source tells the magazine Britney`s parents haven`t remarried but, quote, "They are back together and are doing well and happy."
Brad Pitt goes mining. Pitt`s production company, Plan B, wants to bring the Chilean miner story to the big screen. A rep for Plan B tells "People" magazine Pitt has expressed potential interest in the story because like so many people worldwide, Plan B has been incredibly moved by the story of the Chilean miners and their families.
Lohan playing an addict? Lindsay Lohan`s brother may soon play a heroin addict in a new movie. And mom, Dina, is reportedly behind the project. TMZ reports that through her production company, Lindsay`s mom is casting her son, Michael, Jr., as a drug addict in the upcoming new film, "Growing Defiant." The film will start shooting in 2011.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: You heard right. Lindsay Lohan`s mom casting her own son as an onscreen heroin addict. Is this just a bad move?
With me in New York right now, Midwin Charles, who is an attorney with the law for Midwin Charles and Associates. And right now, in Hollywood, Ken Baker, who is the chief news correspondent for "E!"
So look, I can see why the report today that Lindsay`s mom, Dina, wants her son to star in a film about addicts has raised some eyebrows. Certainly, Midwin, this is a family with a history of all kind of problems. But really, is this such a bad move?
CHARLES: Well, I mean, it just makes them come across as though they`re a clan of misfits and they can`t step away from this issue of drug abuse and all the things that Lindsay Lohan has gone through.
I think we all know that the family has some issues, right? Dina Lohan likes to party like a rock star and swing from the chandeliers and does not pay attention to her daughter`s really serious problems.
So to kind of introduce this whole new element of the son playing a drug addict in a movie -
HAMMER: Yes.
CHARLES: Produced by her - it`s like, could we move into another area?
(CROSS TALK)
HAMMER: I understand the sentiment there. I should point out we do not have independent confirmation that Dina Lohan, in fact, likes to swing from chandeliers. I`m trying to save there from, you know, a big lawsuit.
But we know that Lindsay - yes. She`s in rehab right now, battling addiction. Lindsay`s dad has had his own troubles with addiction and the law.
But I`m thinking, if making movies is a passion for Lindsay`s brother, why not do the movie? Ken, what do you think? Is it a bad move or are people overthinking this?
KEN BAKER, CHIEF NEWS CORRESPONDENT, "E!": Well, I think there is a lot of overthinking going on, because, I don`t know about you, but I haven`t seen the entire screenplay. I don`t know what the story arc is or character arc is.
There could be a lesson here. It could be very educational and insightful. I mean, we really don`t know. I think that the fact that Dina Lohan is trying to have a career on her own that isn`t attached to Lindsay, where she`s trying to make films, make things happen for her family. And I understand Michael is a very - Michael, Jr., that is - is a very, very talented young kid.
I think we should at least give her a break, say, "Look, I`m glad you`re doing something for your family." We don`t know the full topic of it. And by the way, at least it would be on brand.
I mean, we do know the Lohan family is something of experts on the issue of substance abuse, but not necessarily heroin. But I think that at least, it`s on Brand. And I don`t know about you, but the last thing I want to see is, say, Jim Carey trying to be dramatic.
The last thing I want to see is the Lohan family trying to pass themselves off as being some sort of, you know, experts in family values - traditional family values. So I think it`s just fine, and I think we need to see what happens exactly, what the story is about.
HAMMER: All right. That`s fair enough. We do have to move on right now to another big story that`s making big news today. Brooke Anderson, please say it isn`t so. Is Jessica Simpson about to make a big mistake?
ANDERSON: A.J., there are wild reports today that newly-engaged Jessica Simpson plans on getting married without a pre-nup. I think she would be silly not to get a pre-nup.
She`s only been dating this guy, Eric Johnson for, what, five, six months. Midwin, wouldn`t a pre-nup for someone like Jessica Simpson be a must, a no-brainer?
CHARLES: Well, an absolute must, a no-brainer, a very, very simple thing to do. And let`s hope that she probably is still thinking about doing it and meeting with her attorneys and going through all the steps that need to be done to do it. I mean, after all, she hasn`t married this guy yet, so there`s plenty of time to get that pre-nup done.
ANDERSON: Yes. There`s still time - there`s still time to do the smart thing. Well, I`ve got to tell you that people are still talking today about the timing of Jessica`s surprise engagement.
We asked in our SHOWBIZ exclusive poll - "Jessica Simpson Engaged Two Weeks After Her Ex, Nick Lachey." We just got those results in late today. Twenty-seven percent think the timing is pure coincidence. But 73 percent say, hah, something sounds fishy.
Ken, are you surprised that so many people think there`s something strange about the timing of the engagement?
BAKER: I`m not surprised that people think that it`s not a coincidence, that somehow, she`s reacting to Nick, because I think, no matter what, Jessica and Nick are forever going to be linked together.
And in this instance, it`s within 10 days. And it`s like couldn`t you have waited 20 days? It does seem like that from the outside.
But, you know, Jessica spoke to Ryan Seacrest last week and she said, "I wish everyone would get over me and Nick. I wish him the best. I want to move on." But the problem is from a public relations standpoint, it`s hard to move on -
ANDERSON: It`s impossible, yes.
BAKER: If you`re going to be doing this like this (INAUDIBLE).
ANDERSON: I know. I know. And Nick also says he`s very happy for Jessica. So congratulations to all of them. Lots of love. Midwin Charles, Ken Baker, thank you both.
HAMMER: And let`s move on now to Ryan the romantic. I`m talking about Ryan Seacrest. He`s a good guy. His girlfriend, Julianne Hough, just revealed a big secret today about her man. He`s got a big thing for flowers.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DEGENERES: Is he romantic. Is he a good boyfriend?
HOUGH: Oh, my gosh. He`s phenomenal. He`s really romantic. I mean, he`s not even in town and I got in my car and there`s, like, flowers everywhere.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: It`s Ryan and Julianne over-the-top love revelations today. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.
It`s time now for the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: One of Tiger Woods` alleged mistresses is miffed over reports that she was talking about Tiger. Rachel Uchitel, the first woman linked with Tiger`s mistress scandal, spoke out in a bombshell interview with Britain`s "Daily Mail" where she expressed regrets over sleeping with married men saying, quote, "I will never, ever do that again."
Well, a rep for Uchitel says the article was misleading and that Rachel was not referring to anyone specific.
Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough have been keeping their romance pretty quiet, but today, the secret is out.
ANDERSON: A.J., I could not believe the Seacrest secret that Julianne revealed today when she sat down with Ellen DeGeneres. Julianne is one lucky lady and she says that Ryan is a big old romantic.
Forget flowers at the office, row petals in the bath. Ryan goes into overdrive with the whole flower thing. Check this out.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DEGENERES: Is he romantic? Is he a good boyfriend?
HOUGH: Oh, my gosh. He`s phenomenal. He`s really romantic. I mean, he`s not even in town and I got in my car and there`s, like, flowers everywhere.
DEGENERES: In your car? That`s super-sweet.
HOUGH: Yes, in the car.
DEGENERES: That is romantic in a car. Or it`s crazy.
HOUGH: On my birthday - on my birthday, you know, same thing, like, flowers everywhere. I was almost like embarrassed, you know, like you walk in and you`re like, is this my room? I don`t even know. I`m kind of embarrassed.
DEGENERES: Like in a hotel room he did that?
HOUGH: Yes. DEGENERES: Oh, that`s great.
HOUGH: Because, obviously, we`re traveling and -
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: So Ryan has got a thing for flowers. That`s cool. But what about wedding bells? Ryan has met Julianne`s parents. Wait until you hear what Julianne says about how they all get along.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DEGENERES: He met your parents?
HOUGH: Yes. But everybody`s like, "Oh, he met the folks." And it`s like - I don`t know - both of our families are like our best friends -
DEGENERES: Right.
HOUGH: So when we hang out, it`s more just like hanging out with friends.
DEGENERES: Right. Well, anyway, I`m really excited. I think he is a great guy.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: She kind of downplayed it, Brooke. Meeting the parents is a pretty big deal.
ANDERSON: Yes, it is. I don`t care what they say. That means they are serious. Julianne Hough co-stars in "Burlesque" with Cher and Christina Aguilera. "Burlesque" opens everywhere next Wednesday.
HAMMER: Former flight attendant, Steven Slater has a new gig. It`s the job he was born to do. Slater is going to judge passengers on their craziest flight stories. Travelers send texts with their most outrageous stories to Steven who judges them.
Slater, of course, become a household name when made that rather dramatic exit from a JetBlue plane after an alleged altercation with a passenger.
ANDERSON: All right. On Monday, we asked you to vote in our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusive poll. Just moments ago, we did get those final results. "Jessica Simpson Engaged Two Weeks After Her Ex, Nick Lachey." Seventy- three percent of you think Jessica`s engagement sounds a little fishy while 27 percent of you think that the timing is really coincidental.
To the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Facebook page, Gail writes, "I don`t think Jessica got engaged because Nick did. I hope she has finally found a real man because she so deserves it."
And Noelia writes, "They both moved on. I`m glad she`s happy for Nick, and Nick is happy for Jess."
HAMMER: And that is it for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.
ANDERSON: And I`m Brooke Anderson in Hollywood. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is live at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Monday through Friday.
HAMMER: And we are still TV`s most provocative entertainment news show seven days a week at 11:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific right here on HLN.
