(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Then, we find out they`re already on the rocks. The SHOWBIZ Flashpoint -- do Brad and Emily have any chance of making it work?
TV`s most provocative entertainment news show breaks news right now.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
Hello. I`m A.J. Hammer coming to you from New York City with big news breaking today -- Star tsunami outrage. Yes, there is stunning new controversy just boiling over today after a couple of stars joked about the heart breaking devastation happening in Japan.
One was fired and the other is still feeling the heat from the Twitter- verse. And today, many more stars are making dramatic revelations about their close ties to the disaster and what they`re doing now to make a difference.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
(voice-over) The quake and tsunami in Japan have inspired many stars to sell their well-wishes and urge help to those affected by that horrible tragedy. But today, two stars are being slammed left and right for actually joking about the tragedy that has killed countless thousands.
GILBERT GOTTFRIED, COMEDIAN: Aflac!
HAMMER: Aflac has sacked the voice of the duck in its commercials, comedian Gilbert Gottfried, for a series of tasteless jokes he made about the Japan tragedy on his Twitter page.
Today, Gottfried is apologizing. In a statement to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, he says, "I sincerely apologize to anyone who is offended by my attempt at humor regarding the tragedy in Japan. I meant no disrespect and my thoughts are with the victims and their families."
GOTTFRIED: Aflac!
HAMMER: But despite today`s apology, it appears Gottfried has quacked for the last time.
MARC MALKIN, SENIOR EDITOR, "E! ONLINE": I don`t think people were that surprised that he was fired as the voice of the Aflac duck. I don`t care who you are. It`s just -- it`s not appropriate.
SHERRI SHEPHERD, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": When a natural disaster strikes and lives are lost, you, guys --
JOY BEHAR, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": Have you ever seen his act. He`s always inappropriate.
HAMMER: Gottfried`s firing got the hosts of "The View" fired up today.
WHOOPI GOLDBERG, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": Comics have never been appropriate. That`s the whole idea.
SHEPHERD: I know comics because I`m a comic and I know that`s what comics do. And comics are inappropriate. I think there`s a sense of, you know, when you stand there and you go as a human being, look at what other people are going through. Is it appropriate?
HAMMER: Today, rapper 50 Cent is also being slammed for tweeting some tasteless jokes about the tragedy in Japan. But for much of Hollywood, it`s not a laughing matter.
JIMMY KIMMEL, HOST, "JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE": After the earthquake, there was a tidal wave warning in Bora Bora where I was.
HAMMER: On "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Kimmel revealed his almost encounter with a tsunami after his hotel in the Pacific island of Bora Bora was evacuated last week. Kimmel managed to escape the disaster, but he says the experience was unnerving to say the least.
KIMMEL: I am not what you might call relaxed when it comes to disaster- type scenarios. I don`t just crack under pressure. I disintegrate.
HAMMER: The Black Eyed Peas also got too close to comfort to the devastation in Japan. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has learned the pop group actually shot a video in Japan just one week before the quake and tsunami hit.
Singer Fergie tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, quote, "Our heart goes out to all of the Japanese people who have been affected by this terrible natural disaster."
And in another bit of post-earthquake sensitivity, Warner Brothers has pulled the Clint Eastwood movie, "Hereafter" from theaters in Japan. The movie features a tsunami.
MALKIN: Hollywood is exactly how -- you know Hollywood usually reacts to disaster of this nature. You know, they react with compassion, with sympathy and then also with fundraising.
HAMMER: "E! News Online" Mark Malkin tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT that, isolated cases aside, many in Hollywood are sensitive to what`s going on in Japan and are eager to help.
MALKIN: I don`t think you`re going to see a lot more celebs making tasteless jokes. I think we`re going to see a lot more Hollywood stars stepping forward, doing fundraising, going to Japan at some point, and really trying to help out everyone, you know, was affected by them.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
HAMMER: Well, Lady Gaga is one of the stars trying to help those affected by the disaster in Japan. I think she`s doing great job, selling a very special "We pray for Japan" bracelet. It`s right there.
She`s selling it on her Web site to benefit the Japanese relief effort. And today, Gaga tweeted so far bracelet sales have raised more than $250,000 dollars. Let`s keep that moving.
All right. Now to this -- a bombshell new blog is sparking massive debate today, the headline, "In Defense of Charlie Sheen."
Now, Charlie may have lost his job over his bizarre antics. But he`s certainly got no shortage of advice coming from all sorts of people, including Alec Baldwin.
Well, now, at least one person is standing up for Charlie. In a blog on today`s "Huffington.com," blogger Silpa Kowali is putting Americans who are slamming Charlie on notice.
She says this, "Take a deep breath. Take a cold shower. Take a gigantic step back. It`s time to chill your collective (EXPLETIVE DELETED)."
Silpa`s with me right now for a SHOWBIZ newsmaker interview. Silpa, I appreciate you being here.
All right. So people are kind of lashing out at this a bit. We`re seeing the comments coming in to "Huffington Post," people saying, "What are you thinking defending Charlie Sheen?" Did you at all think, "Hey, I`m taking a big risk by not only defending him, but in a way, slamming his critics?"
SILPA KOWALI, BLOGGER, "HUFFINGTON POST": Absolutely. I mean, was very concerned when I wrote this piece that people would misconstrue this piece as a defense of Charlie`s actions and violent history, or any of the remarks that he made, which it was not intended to be at all.
What I was trying to do was to draw attention to a culture of celebrity in this country that I think has gotten incredibly out of hand. And I think Charlie really is the expected outcome of that kind of culture.
HAMMER: Well, yes. You wrote about that, I thought, quite eloquently and right on point. Let me get to that part of that blog you wrote, "I`m shocked that anyone is still shocked when the Charlie Sheens of America go off the deep end."
"Being celebrity in the United States is nothing straight of a total mind (EXPLETIVE DELETED) so, yes, this system is going to turn out the occasional nut who thinks it`s acceptable to go on drunken rampages and publicly insult his boss."
So, yes. I get when you`re coming from there. So what you`re saying is that doesn`t mean that Charlie`s wacky behavior is his fault. Or are you saying it`s the system`s fault that he`s this way? Or is it kind of a little both?
KOWALI: Well, again, I don`t mean to kind of remove any of the pressure behind Charlie`s actions. All I`m saying is that when we have this kind of system in America where we lavish insane amounts of attention upon people and flood them with this really obscene amount wealth, we really can`t expect people to respond any other way.
There are some celebrities that do. There are some celebrities that rise above it. But there`s still a natural reaction to what we`re doing here.
HAMMER: Particularly if do you have other stuff going on, which, in Charlie`s case, it seems that may very well be the case. KOWALI: Yes. Absolutely.
HAMMER: You do think Warner Brothers made the wrong decision by firing Charlie? Writing about that, you say, "So when Charlie Sheen declares Warner Brothers has no right it fire him because he shows up on time and delivers his lines like a pro, I`ve got to give him a resounding, `Guy`s got a point.` The only thing that is relevant to me is the product."
And yes, a lot of people have said, you know, Charlie`s personal life, if it doesn`t interfere with his work, he should be left alone on that. But don`t you think that Charlie does need to take some responsibility and not publicly attack his bosses or the company that he was working for?
KOWALI: I mean, again, Charlie should absolutely not be doing any of those things off the set. I don`t mean to condone any of his statements or any of the things that he did, but the space in which we interact with Charlie Sheen is, as consumers of culture, as consumers of a 30-minute show he`s on once a week.
HAMMER: Right.
KOWALI: And that`s the stage in which we interact with him. And Warner Brothers firing him for his actions off the set is really lending a heightened relevance to those actions that I`m not entirely comfortable with.
HAMMER: Well, I`ve got to tell you, Silpa, it`s really well written. I encourage anybody who hasn`t seen the article to check it out on "Huffington Post."
KOWALI: Thank you.
HAMMER: The question is, is it time for Americans to stop being shocked by Charlie Sheen and just let the man be? Let me bring in Atty. Lauren Lake.
Now, Lauren, you just heard Silpa say that we shouldn`t be surprised by all of Charlie Sheen`s drama because, yes, he`s a product of celebrity. And I agree with that.
But Lauren, does that, in any way, give him a pass in your mind for some of the things that he`s said and done?
LAUREN LAKE, ATTORNEY: You know why he can`t get a pass? He can`t get a pass because he`s more than just a television star and a great actor. He`s also a father.
And I think once he takes us out of the context of just "Two and a Half Men" and goes on the air on rampages against his boss, calling his boss` children "ugly little children," we have to take a stand and just say, "Yo, man, you`re taking it too far."
And not to mention the fact we`re a little bit concerned about you because you`re acting off your rocker and very manic. So I think that`s where we are with Charlie Sheen. He gave this to us to evaluate.
Other than that, we were just looking at "Two and a Half Men" and enjoying it.
HAMMER: Yes. But then, again, in his mind, he`s not off his rocker and everything is just peachy.
LAKE: Right.
HAMMER: Now, Silpa made some great points in her blog. And one of the things that I found very interesting is she says we shouldn`t be annoyed by Charlie`s ramblings because he`s not whining about his life like we see so many celebrities do so often. Instead, you have Charlie talking about how amazing his rock star life is.
Let me go out to syndicated radio host, Carlos Diaz. Carlos, as bizarre as a lot of Sheen`s behavior has been, it`s kind of refreshing that it`s not been the same old celebrity complaining, isn`t it?
CARLOS DIAZ, SYNDICATED RADIO HOST: Exactly. In fact, I think -- Silpa`s article, by the way, is brilliant. Her blog, "Run, Do Not Walk" at "Huffington Post" to read this thing.
But what Charlie`s doing is he is standing up for the every man who ticked off at his boss. But the one thing Silpa did not mention, the one word -- drugs. When you bring drugs into the equation and Charlie`s brought those drugs in his equation, bragging about his drug use, that`s where the problem lies. He can be a rebel. Just doesn`t be a rebel on drugs.
HAMMER: Well, CNN just conducted a really interesting poll asking people, just trying to get a finger on the pulse of market. We`re asking people in the past few weeks if Charlie has been winning are or losing.
Look at these results here. Only 17 percent think Charlie is winning, as he`s puts it. Seventy-five percent think that he`s losing. Lauren, are you at all surprised by those results?
LAKE: No, not at all, because I think it`s apparent that this man -- as Carlos just said, he has a drug problem. There`s something wrong here. And he`s not winning. He is losing.
And you know what? At the end of the day, as much as they say that we love to see people climb and then we watch them fall, there is scary. And I think everybody is really hoping that he`ll get help.
HAMMER: Yes. I think that`s true. Carlos, are you right there, too? Are you not surprised that most people say no, not winning at all here?
DIAZ: Yes. I think those numbers would be flipped if drugs weren`t in the equation. Once you bring drugs into the equation, people lose contact.
I mean, I have been the biggest Charlie Sheen supporter in the world. Then we start talking about drugs and I`m like, "Dude, you lost me. We cannot support your drug use."
HAMMER: Lauren Lake, Carlos Diaz, Silpa Kowali, I thank you all. Got to move on now -- Selena slammed. Selena Gomez opens up today about the attacks she`s getting for dating Justin Bieber.
This really ticks me off. Why don`t the haters lay off this poor young, beautiful woman? A big debate on this is coming up.
Also, a possible big Ryan Phillippe scandal today. Did he get his ex- girlfriend pregnant? And will have to take a test to prove whether or not he is the dad?
And Courteney Cox`s stunning revelations today. Why she`s actually defending David Arquette -- this is the guy, of course, she may likely divorce -- even after he blabbed about their sex life.
I`m really surprised and impressed by how nice Courteney is being about all this. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.
Here comes the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" -- more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news today.

The new bachelorette revealed. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has learned Ashley Herbert has been named ABC`s new bachelorette. The 26-year-old dentistry student was rejected by Brad Womack on this season`s "The Bachelor," but she`ll get another shot on "The Bachelorette," May 23rd.

And if you are a wrestling fan, you will want to know that the ladies of Team LayCool issued a challenge to Snooki to take them on WrestleMania and Snooki accepted. I`m thinking that`s going to be fantastic.
A lot of posts on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Facebook wall today about Sarah Palin`s slam of the great Julianne Moore, who I love, playing Sarah Palin in an HBO movie.
But Ashley L. doesn`t agree with me writing, "Julianne Moore is not a good choice. She bears zero resemblance to Sarah Palin."
The "Showbiz on Call" phone lines have been ringing nonstop. We have Diane calling from Tennessee who thinks Palin needs to chill.
(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)
DIANE, CALLER FROM TENNESSEE: I`m calling about Sarah Palin. She needs to sit down and be quiet. She knows doggone well she`s so happy that somebody is writing about her life or actresses playing her part.
(END AUDIO CLIP)
HAMMER: Sit down and be quiet. Thank you, Diane. What do you think? Let us know at "Showbiz on Call" about this or anything else that`s on your mind. UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: It would save me a lot of stress if you just turned yourself in.
UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: No. Never. I can`t go back to joint -- no, I cannot go back there.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: OK. This was one of my favorite shows of all time, Fox`s "Arrested Development." And there has been talk of a movie version for a while. Today SHOWBIZ breaks news on whether not the show is coming to the big screen.
I don`t know about you -- me? I`ve been holding out for an "Arrested Development" movie for a while now. Such a funny show. It starred Jason Bateman, Portia De Rossi, the great Jeffrey Tambor -- all part of the dysfunctional but really hysterical Bluth family.
Ron Howard was one of the executive producers. Mitch Hurwitz created "Development" and it never really got great ratings. But the critics have always and continue to love it.
Right now, SHOWBIZ breaks news. At the premiere for their movie "Paul," Bateman and Tambor told us "Arrested Development," the movie, is in fact, being developed. It`s a go.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JASON BATEMAN, ACTOR: I just can`t wait to read the script. I hear, you know, every day -- every day that passes, we get a day closer because the script is being written.
So that`s exciting and hopefully Mitch`s plan of it happening before the end of the year comes true. That`s what his plan is. And from what he tells me as far as his progress goes on the script, it could happen. We`ll see. Fingers crossed.
JEFFREY TAMBOR, ACTOR: We`re going. Yes, it`s a go. Hopefully because, you know, they`ve got to do it before I`m in a walker. Hurry. No, it`s being written and well-put together and everyone`s very, very pleased. Yes. So Bluths are coming back.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Welcome back to the Bluths. All right Moving on. Monday we asked you to vote on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusive poll. Just moments ago, I was handed the final results by stage manager Dave Webber.
"Julianne Moore to Play Sarah Palin HBO Movie: Great casting or nah, I don`t get it." Well, that`s one vote -- 54 percent to 46 percent.
Here`s some of the E-mails we got. One from Donna in California who writes Sarah P. could not be any more lucky than to have Julianne Moore play her. She is beautiful, not aging, a great actress." I couldn`t agree more.
Now, Mary in Pennsylvania says Tina Fey should play Sarah Palin, "The resemblance is far better than Julianne Moore."
Time for the SHOWBIZ lineup. Here`s what`s coming up at the bottom of the hour on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

Plus breaking today from the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker," Jon Bon Jovi attacks Steve Jobs. And Justin Bieber immortalized.
ANNOUNCER: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show continues right now.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It`s 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer coming to you from New York City and we have big news breaking today -- surviving Bieber fever.
What do you think it`s like to be the girlfriend of the most famous teen singer in all the land? Well, that is the fate of Disney star Selena Gomez. And she reveals today in a brand-new interview just how much it hurts to be the butt of Bieber fan anger.
It is part of a stunning new round of Hollywood heartache revelations today. There are also brand-new shockers from Courteney Cox and Eva Longoria.
But first, we really do have to begin with Selena Gomez`s pain. She is such a sweet young lady but she tells New York City radio station Z-100 today in a brand-new interview that when Justin Bieber`s fans hate on her, she really gets hurt.
Let me bring in Wendy Walsh. Wendy is a TV journalist and doctor of psychology.
Now, Wendy, this isn`t goofing around hating. This is real hating. Where is it coming from? Do these young girls really think they got a shot at dating the Biebs?
WENDY WALSH, TV JOURNALIST AND DOCTOR OF PSYCHOLOGY: Listen, I have two daughters who are planning to marry the Biebs, so, yes, they do.
But listen, I`ve got to tell Selena -- sticks and stones, baby. They`ll break your bones but those words -- you need to worrying when they stop talking about you, OK? So just take it in stride.
It goes with the territory of dating the Biebs. If it`s a problem, I`ve got two other girls in line for him.
HAMMER: Yes. But you know, it`s just -- it`s a lot of bad energy. It`s really negative. And she`s young, you know. I don`t know. I feel terrible --
WALSH: I know it`s hard.
HAMMER: I feel terrible she has to put up with so much. Well, I do want to play for you some of Selena`s brand-new interview today on Z-100 about her Bel-ieber woes. Listen to Selena.
(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)
SELENA GOMEZ, DISNEY STAR: It hurt. It really does. And because I don`t -- I feel like I`m not doing anything wrong. I`ve been best friends with him for a very long time. So it is very hard and it does hurt my feelings a lot.
But I just try not to focus on it because I have such a strong family and I have great fans.
(END AUDIO CLIP)
HAMMER: So at least she has a healthy attitude about it. Lauren Lake is the great TV host and attorney and author of the book, "Girl, Let Me Tell You."
Well, Lauren, tell me. Are you outraged like I am that these Bel-iebers are terrorizing and I mean terrorizing Selena Gomez? I think they should back off although maybe I shouldn`t say that on television because they might go after me.
LAKE: You know, I`m big on women`s empowerment. And for young girls to just be spewing hate, that always bothers me. But I will say this, from the beginning of time -- I mean, think about it.
The Beatles, Michael Jackson -- young girls have probably always felt a level of hate for whoever has their heartthrob in the palm of their hands.
But we didn`t have Twitter and Facebook and e-mail and all of these ways to spew the hate so that the person knew that it existed. We live in a different time now and it makes it increasingly difficult for this young girl. And I can imagine being in love and being young is hard enough.
HAMMER: Yes. And look, I`m not naive. I know that this goes on. But you`re right. We have so many more outlets. And the fact is, you have to just stop reading the stuff if you can avoid it.
Well, there is more angst today. I`m talking more heartache, more celebrity romance news. And this time, it`s Courteney Cox. Brand-new spanking interview -- well, not a spanking interview. It`s a brand-new spanking interview.
No spanking going on with this interview. She did it with "Harper`s Bazaar" magazine. Courteney says she is totally protective of David Arquette, even if David did publicly dish on their sex life.
And now that the two are split, Courteney dropped yet another big bombshell today. She says she doesn`t even want to date.
Take a look at what she is telling "Harper`s Bazaar" magazine, "I`m not saying never. It just seems weird. I don`t even know how that would happen or how you would meet people. I don`t like to go out. I`m not great at small talk. I don`t like to go to parties."
Wendy, I`ve got to tell you I`m surprised that Courteney feels this way. She says, "How would I ever meet a guy?" Let me throw out a theory. Maybe -- I don`t know -- she could perhaps meet somebody on the set of her hit show "Cougar Town"?
WALSH: Of course. And did you know, A.J., that`s the number one way that people over 40 meet each other? It is the Internet. Do you have a computer, Courteney?
HAMMER: Yes.
WALSH: So I think that, you know, she`s -- what she`s really talking about is that she`s still grieving, that divorce is a big tragedy.
It`s one of the big life stressors that anyone ever goes through. And it takes a long time to heal. She`s not ready. When she`s ready, she`ll find a keyboard. She can go to "OurTime.com."
HAMMER: Let me tell you something, Wendy. For all the guys out there who think they`re going to run into Courteney Cox on one of the online dating services -- don`t hold your breath about that.
Look, I think it says a lot about her and her character that she`s defending David Arquette today even after he went on Howard Stern`s Sirius XM radio show and just dished on and on about their sex lives. Let`s listen a bit to what David said.
(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)
DAVID ARQUETTE, ACTOR: My sex with Courteney is kind of -- you know, it`s scheduled to a certain degree.
(END AUDIO CLIP)
HAMMER: All right. I know David was in a lot of pain. I have felt badly for him all along through this whole thing. But it certainly would have been understandable if Courteney was upset with him for doing that.
But get this -- she`s not upset with this. She tells "Harper`s Bazaar" that he is not at all a malicious person. She says, "Don`t get me wrong. He was on the show for entertainment. David is smart and David is also a showman. He knew what he was doing."
"I don`t know what`s going to happen, but I don`t think he`ll be doing more Howard Stern anytime soon. He`s not out to harm but I`m his biggest protector. I can`t help it."
And I say bravo, Courteney. Lauren, are you surprised that Courteney is so understanding about David`s very public revelations?
LAKE: You know what? I`m not because she`s a woman of a certain age now. She`s mature. She knows that people make mistakes. And you know what? She still loves the man.
Even though they`re not right for each other in marriage, she can still love him, respect him and she doesn`t have to downgrade him.
HAMMER: Yes.
LAKE: And so you know what? I give kudos to her.
HAMMER: Yes, good for her. Let`s move on now. There are more shocking Hollywood love revelations today. I`ve got to talk about Eva Longoria. Eva telling "Allure" magazine she has still got the Tony Parker blues.
Here`s what she`s saying, "It`s been -- every time I talk about it, I want to cry. It`s been very hard, very hard. I`m just trying to get through it as gracefully as possible without any drama."
And I feel for her. Wendy, to be honest, I`m actually surprised Eva Longoria is being so forthcoming about such personal, private pain when it`s all so new. Are you?
WALSH: Well, no, I`m not, because women often heal through communication. Of course, celebrities communicate reporters, which, you know, can be taken out context so it`s dangerous.
But women talk. That`s how they get their feelings out. And remember, they only split like, what, four, five months ago?
HAMMER: Yes.
WALSH: And they were together three, four years. So it`s going to take her another year to get over this completely. And it takes time. She`s in mourning for sure.
HAMMER: And talking about the whole process, she goes on to tell "Allure" the hardest part is how drastically her life has changed saying, "I`m kind of having to find new patterns because not used to having -- I`m used to always being on a plane and flying to a basketball game."
"I`m in a transition stage, settling into a new routine and I welcome it." That sounds healthy. Lauren, she`s doing the work that she needs to do. But do you agree it`s a little surprising, as I find it, that she`s being so open about these private feelings right now while still in the thick of it?
LAKE: It was a bit surprising for me because there`s a little bit of ice princess kind of feel when you think about Eva Longoria.
And this is nice to see her opening up, being very woman about it and saying this is how I feel.
HAMMER: Yes.
WALSH: That`s true.
HAMMER: Plus, she`s on the right path anyway, it seems. Lauren Lake, Wendy Walsh, I thank you both.
And let`s move from shocking split to shocking baby news. Is Ryan Phillippe about to be a dad again? There are reports that Ryan`s ex- girlfriend is carrying his baby. Will Ryan have to take a test to prove whether or not he`s the dad?

WOMACK: Emily, please make me happier than I`ve ever been in my life and marry me.
MAYNARD: I would love to.
WOMACK: I love you.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Oh, the drama, the love. But is there now a bachelor bummer? It was the most emotional "Bachelor" ever, until 15 minutes later when Emily revealed she broke up with Brad after watching the show. They are still engaged but the big question today seems to be will they make it to the altar?
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York with big "Bachelor" outrage today. Even if you have don`t watch this show, this will blow you away.
Now, Brad Womack, the bachelor, just proposed to the one, Emily Maynard, on the season finale of "The Bachelor." But there is big outrage brewing today after the host of "The Bachelor" revealed that the new couple cancelled what was to be a televised wedding and even broke up soon after their engagement.
So the big question everyone wants answered is, will these two stay together? I know I need to know. In the "after the final rose" special, Emily blamed the tabloids for putting pressure on the relationship and dropped another bombshell that simply watching the show, it nearly ruined the reality of their relationship. Watch.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MAYNARD: On top of everything else that you have to deal with throughout the show -- you know, every Monday, I would have like severe anxiety, you know.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Right. So every Tuesday morning, what happens?
MAYNARD: It isn`t good for Brad Womack. It isn`t a good day in his house. I obviously knew it wasn`t going to be the "Let`s watch Emily and Brad fall in love show." But I didn`t think he would give them so much material to work with.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yes. There`s irony right there. Their own show about falling in love is actually what tore them apart. They said on the show that they`re still engaged. But the reports have already been flying around today that this relationship is as good as done.
So syndicated radio host, Carlos Diaz, here`s our SHOWBIZ Flashpoint today -- Brad picks Emily on "The Bachelor," will they stay together? Carlos?
CARLOS DIAZ, SYNDICATED RADIO HOST: No. A.J., as you know, I`ve done extensive scientific research into hot women.
HAMMER: Yes.
DIAZ: And from what I found with hot women, they don`t like to be shared. And Emily, being an extremely hot woman, she proved last night she doesn`t like to be shared.
And I don`t ink she`s ever going to get the mental images out of her mind of Brad hooking up with so many different girls on the show.
So no, I don`t think this is going to last at all. In fact, if it lasts through this weekend, I`ll be amazed.
HAMMER: Carlos, it`s good to know that week after week, you`re sitting there with your bowl of popcorn and warm milk and watching "The Bachelor." Nice going.
But looking back in history -- I mean, the show has a terrible track record with these relationships sticking. And even if the show is over, people are going to have expectations about whether or not Brad and Emily will actually make it.
Let me bring in "Us Weekly" lifestyle editor, Gwen Flamberg. Gwen, to our SHOWBIZ Flashpoint -- do you think these guys are going to actually stay together?
GWEN FLAMBERG, LIFESTYLE EDITOR, "US WEEKLY": I think they may. You know, Emily had a really interesting statement last night. She said, "Where does reality TV end and my reality begin?"
So it`s very easy for a couple to connect when producers are setting up fantasy play dates and paradise. Now, the real work begins. Can they connect in the real world? Are they going to make it?
They may. Just like any other relationship, nothing can replace the passage of time or experience. These guys have to have their own experiences now.
HAMMER: That was very well put. Well, everybody`s buzzing about this today. Of course, we want to know what you think in our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusive poll.
Here`s what we`re asking, "Brad Picks Emily on `The Bachelor`: Do you think they`ll stay together?" Please vote on, "Yes, they`re a great couple, or "No, these things rarely work out."
You can vote on CNN.com/ShowbizTonight to tell us what you think. But right now, I must move on to another big "Bachelor" story today involving Hollywood bachelor and all-around cool guy, Ryan Phillippe.
Reese Witherspoon`s ex might become a daddy again. Now, there`s a brand- new report on "People.com" which says that Ryan may be the father of his ex-girlfriend`s unborn child. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT did reach out to Ryan`s reps. They haven`t got back to us as of show time.
But his ex, Alexis Knapp tells us that she has not confirmed who the father of her expected child is. Ryan is reportedly ready to take responsibility if the baby turns out to be his.
Now, Carlos, my friend, if this ends up being true, do you even think this would create a scandal for Ryan Phillippe? I`m saying no way.
DIAZ: No. I mean, the guy -- he`s a good guy and he`d be a good dad. The dilemma for him right now is, you know, of course, he wants answers.
But in trying to get DNA, you run the risk of a miscarriage in trying to get that DNA. So he needs to wait until the baby is born in June. So he`s kind of in limbo now. But if this baby is his, when the baby is born, he`ll be a stand-up guy.
HAMMER: All right. Let me move on right now to Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson. They`re making new today. Pete speaking out about his divorce from Ashlee Simpson.
Reports say that he`s been pretty broken up about it. And he gave a brand- new interview this morning on Ryan Seacrest`s radio show where Pete says Charlie Sheen has actually helped make thing as little easier. Listen to this.
(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)
PETE WENTZ, SINGER: I mean, I think one of the things that -- the hardest thing that you probably notice is that when you`re a public profile, it`s hard to, you know, maintain your private life, you know.
And you want to do it especially when there`s a kid involved. You know, it`s like Ashlee`s been my best friend for five years. She`s the mother of my child. I have nothing but love and respect for her.
And you know, going through something like this isn`t easy but, you know, we`re friends.
(END AUDIO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yes. And at least the guy has a sense of humor. It pretty clear, Gwen, that this has taken a real toll, this whole divorce on Pete.
FLAMBERG: Totally. You know, there`s a lot of love there. There`s a child involved. And they`ve just grown apart and they`re trying to get out of the marriage as gracefully as they can.
HAMMER: All right. Well, we wish them the best. Hope it doesn`t turn out to be way too hard on him. Gwen Flamberg, Carlos Diaz, thank you both.
Jessica Biel just split from Justin Timberlake. So is Jessica shaping up to start dating again? It`s the mysterious craze Jessica and other big stars are just raving about.
