A.J. HAMMER, HOST: Big news, breaking tonight on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT - the explosive tale of two trials. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is right there as both sides make their case today in the trial of Michael Jackson`s doctor.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It was Dr. Murray`s repeated incompetent and unskilled acts that led to Mr. Jackson`s death.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: And the emotional scene at the courtroom. Tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT dares to ask, is it the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray or is Michael Jackson on trial?

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT hot topics with "The View`s" Sherri Shepherd. An "L- Word" actress gets kicked off a plane for smooching her girlfriend. Talk about a kiss-off. And Sherri`s great debate over fat sex?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SHERRI SHEPHERD, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": If you`re feeling good about yourself, it can be as freaky as you want to.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: "Millionaire Matchmaker`s" cheap shots. Jewish men, liars? Straight women, dumb in love? And gay men, bad at monogamy?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PATTI STANGER, "MILLIONAIRE MATCHMAKER": There`s no curbing the (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show breaks news right now.

(MUSIC)

Hello, I`m A.J. Hammer in New York with big news breaking tonight - who`s on trial now?

Is it Dr. Conrad Murray for allegedly causing the death of Michael Jackson or is it Michael Jackson? Well, that is the big burning question tonight after both sides made their case today during what were really dramatic opening statements in Dr. Murray`s trial.

Now, I want you to listen to this. I want you to listen very, very carefully. This shocked me today when it came on television. Listen to this voice. It is quite remarkably the voice of Michael Jackson, and it is chilling.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

MICHAEL JACKSON, POP STAR: We have to be phenomenal. When people leave this show, when people leave my show, I want them to say, I`ve never seen nothing like this in my life.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

HAMMER: It is unbelievable for me to think that that was the king of pop. That was apparently recorded by Dr. Murray and played in court today.

It was seen live right here on HLN and it was played in an effort to show just how out of it Jackson was because of the propofol that Dr. Murray gave him. But SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you, Murray lawyers may try to prove that Michael Jackson himself may be to blame for the circumstances that led to his death.

Of course, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has got this covered like no other entertainment news show, with SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Kareen Wynter who is live with us from the L.A. courthouse right now.

Also, in Los Angeles tonight, Atty. Midwin Charles of Midwin Charles and Associates. With me in New York, Sunny Hostin, who is former federal prosecutor and current contributor to "In Session" on our sister network, Tru TV.

It was a truly shocking beginning to Murray`s involuntary manslaughter trial today. His defense was basically saying that Michael killed himself.

In his opening statement, Murray`s attorney said, Jackson was so obsessed with getting sleep he gave himself the powerful drugs that ended up killing him. Watch how it played out live here today on HLN.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We believe the evidence will show you - the scientific evidence, will show you that when Dr. Murray left the room, Michael Jackson self-administered a dose of propofol. That, with the lorazepam, created a perfect storm in his body that killed him instantly.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Now, before the trial, the defense had hinted that they were going to put Michael Jackson and his life and his addictions front and center in the trial.

Today, that`s exactly what we saw that they were doing. Midwin, out there in Los Angeles, are they, in fact, putting Michael on trial here, do you think? And if they are, could it work?

MIDWIN CHARLES, ATTORNEY, MIDWIN CHARLES AND ASSOCIATES: They are. They are definitely doing it despite the fact that the judge made several rulings to dissuade them from doing it this.

I don`t know how it`s going to play out, A.J. But it may backfire particularly since some of the jurors have already said that they are Michael Jackson fans.

HAMMER: I do think the lines are definitely going to be blurred as far as who is on trial here, Conrad Murray or Michael Jackson.

CHARLES: Yes, absolutely.

HAMMER: Sunny, let me get your take as an ex-prosecutor. Do you think that prosecutors have anything to worry about from the "Michael Jackson killed himself" defense that seems to be happening here?

SUNNY HOSTIN, FORMER PROSECUTOR AND CONTRIBUTOR TO "IN SESSION" ON TRU TV: You know, I absolutely do think they have something to worry about, because now we`re in reasonable doubt land.

If you get one or two jurors that think that is possible and there`s scientific evidence submitted in front of this jury that supports it, you could end up with a not-guilty verdict or a hung jury.

So I think prosecutors definitely have to listen to it and they have to combat it. And I think we`re going to see that certainly play out in the courtroom.

HAMMER: And something that we saw play out in front of the courthouse today was the arrival of so many members of Michael Jackson`s family right there today. I was so surprised to see Janet showing up. Mother Katherine was there, father Joe, his famous brothers and other sisters as well.

I can tell you it was chaos. You`re just getting a little glimpse of it right now as they arrived this morning as Jane Velez-Mitchell, host of "ISSUES WITH JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL" here on HLN was right there reporting live. This was something to watch. Check out what went on.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL, HOST, "ISSUES WITH JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL": Jermaine, what would you say? What would you say? That`s what Jermaine has to say as he gets out of the vehicle - justice.

Right here, we`ve got the family getting out in the front of the courthouse. They did not come a back way. And you`re seeing this wild scene here as all the fans are protesting and protesting in favor of Jackson -

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Let`s go out to the courthouse right now in L.A. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Kareen Wynter is right there. Kareen, I know you`ve been speaking with members of the Jackson family recently.

You just spent a lot of time with Jermaine. We`re going to be seeing more of that incredible interview right here on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT tomorrow. What can we expect, in your mind, to see from the family during this trial?

KAREEN WYNTER, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT CORRESPONDENT: Well, A.J., what you`re seeing is a family united. I mean, this is an incredibly tough time for them and they`re coming out. They`re supportive of their loved one even in death.

I mean, sure, they`re going through some division right now, a little dispute regarding Michael Jackson`s upcoming tribute concert in Wales. But look, when I spoke with Jermaine Jackson last week, he said, "We are going to be there front and center."

When I spoke with Katherine a few weeks ago, she said she`s not going to miss a minute of this trial. Jermaine told me it`s going to be hard. I mean, A.J., you know how huge this family is.

And Jermaine`s concern was that they only have eight seats. But he said, "Even if we don`t make it inside the courtroom, we`re going to be there and we`re going to send a strong message."

In his words, "We`re looking for justice here for Michael." Got to send a huge message, this has to, A.J., to the jurors. We know how powerful this family is. And just imagine their sheer presence inside that courtroom.

Also think about the message that it sends to fans. I spoke with a couple and they said they`re mourning right now, still years after Michael Jackson`s death and that seeing the Jackson family gives them enormous strength.

And one woman said, "You ain`t seen nothing yet." If you think there are dozens of fans out here, legions of fans, you just wait until this trial really begins.

And as the Jackson family continues to make their presence, she said, more and more fans, A.J., are going to be coming out of the woodwork.

HAMMER: Yes. Kareen, I watched them walk in, in a show of strength and force. And then, I watched this opening statements, I couldn`t help but sit there and think, wow, look at all they`re having to listen to.

Look at all they`re having to look at. A picture of Michael Jackson`s lifeless body. I mean, these are the things - this is only scratching the surface of what they`re going to be exposed to as they sat there today.

They had to listen to the defense, the prosecution with their opening statements. Prosecutors really did rip apart Dr. Murray.

They say that he violated medical standards by giving Michael the anesthetic propofol to help him sleep and by leaving him to die while Murray made phone calls. Watch what happened at that moment in court.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He left this vulnerable man, filled with Valium and midazolam and lorazepam and propofol with no medical monitoring equipment, no necessary resuscitative equipment.

He left him there, abandoned him to fend for himself. It violates not only every standard of care, but decency for one human being to another.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Such strong statements in court today. And of course, Dr. Murray faces up to four years in prison if he`s convicted.

Now, it seems obvious to me as a nonprofessional in this vein that using surgical anesthetic to put somebody to sleep in his bedroom is certainly a questionable practice at best.

Midwin, if that is what happened, is what is proven here, does it rise to involuntary manslaughter?

CHARLES: It does. Involuntary manslaughter really focuses on gross negligence. It`s an unintentional killing and whether or not your actions will cause great bodily harm.

And I think they`re going to be hard-pressed to find a medical expert, a doctor to say that that drug could be administered in such a setting, A.J.

HAMMER: Sunny, we were talking briefly before we went on about how well we think both sides actually did with their opening statements. Quickly, tell me, based on what we saw today, who would you give the edge to?

HOSTIN: Well, score one for prosecution. I mean, not only was he forceful in his delivery. He had, as you mentioned, the 911 call. He had those pictures, juxtaposed picture of the dead Michael Jackson versus a very alive Michael Jackson the day before.

I think, at this point, the prosecution certainly has the momentum going into its case in chief. We have yet to see, you know, what the defense is going to do. But the prosecution did an outstanding job with what I thought was going to be sort of a boring medical malpractice case.

HAMMER: Yes. I was riveted and here we go is really all I can say now. It was such a wild scene outside the courthouse all day, surrounded by Michael Jackson fans who came from as far away as Germany. And they were all asking for one thing and that was justice for Michael.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Pray for justice for M.J. Pray for justice for M.J.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Kareen Wynter, I know you spent a lot of time hearing some amazing stories from those fans. Kareen, Midwin, Sunny, stay right where you guys are.

As we move on tonight, what is the deal with the "Millionaire Matchmaker"? She`s taking shots at everyone from Jewish men to gay men and she`s doing it in front of Bravo`s Andy Cohen on live TV.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ANDY COHEN, HOST, "WATCH WHAT HAPPENS LIVE": So gays can have open relations -

STANGER: There is no curbing the gays.

COHEN: Why? What do Jewish men do?

STANGER: They lie.

COHEN: Jewish men lie. So I`m a non-monogamous liar.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Wow. Tonight Patti Stanger`s big-time backlash on her cheap shots at, well, everyone.

Also, Britney`s British brouhaha. Britney Spears` brand-new video slammed in England. So was it too violent? We`re going to tell you why the Brits are so fired up.

Plus, Sherri Shepherd`s view on fat sex?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SHEPHERD: So whether you`re fat or skinny, if you feeling good about yourself, it can be as freaky as you want to.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Fat sex or skinny sex? It`s the great debate that had Sherri Shepherd hot and bothered. That`s why she`s right here for hot topic SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsmaker interview. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

And now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news tonight.

TEXT: "Two and a Half Men" ratings remain strong with 20.3 million viewers. Emilio Estevez opens up about his brother Charlie Sheen.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

EMILIO ESTEVEZ, ACTOR: He`s gone through a tremendous amount of pressure and stress. And he`s come out the other side. He looks great. He was in great spirits. And I think he`s come - you know, I think he`s really come around.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: You`re from Germany. But you didn`t - did you come -

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Just for the trial.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: You came from Germany just for the trial. Why?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Because I love Michael and I appreciate him.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: HLN`s Jane Velez-Mitchell right there in the center of all the action in the Michael Jackson death trial. As you know, it got under way today.

And SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you Jackson fans are flying in from all over the world to show their support for M.J. as Dr. Conrad Murray faces the judge and jury.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York with Michael Jackson trial fan frenzy.

It really was absolute chaos today outside the courthouse where Jackson`s doctor, Conrad Murray, faced a judge for the first time for the charges related to M.J.`s death.

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Kareen Wynter has been right there in the throngs of the Michael madness. She`s been there all day long.

Kareen, I know you spoke with these people. Obviously, so passionate about the case. What did they have to say to you today?

WYNTER: Well, A.J., let me tell you. The frenzy, indeed, has begun. Michael Jackson fans - imagine this - flying in from around the world to defend the man they loved so dearly.

But perhaps even more surprising is the support for the man being accused of having a hand in Jackson`s death, Dr. Conrad Murray.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(on camera) It really is such an incredible scene out here, outside the courthouse where the Conrad Murray trial is taking place from all of the media that has descended here. Look at that scene.

(UNINTELLIGIBLE) spectators, many of them Jackson fans. They`re holding signs like these. They say they`re looking for justice. Many fans also holding - carrying sunflowers.

They say that was the singer`s favorite flower. We want to talk now to April Smith. You are an ardent Jackson supporter. You said you wouldn`t miss this trial for anything. Why is it important to be there?

APRIL SMITH, MICHAEL JACKSON FAN: I love Michael Jackson. For 40 years, I followed his career from childhood to adulthood. He`s a human being and what happened is wrong. I support his family. I support him. I`m here to protect his honor and his integrity because, now, we are his voice.

WYNTER: And nothing will ever bring Michael back. What did it mean to you seeing members of the Jackson family here today?

A. SMITH: It was - it was heart-warming because I know they`re going through a hard time right now. They`ve lost a son, a brother, a cousin, a father. And what has happened is wrong. We`re here to speak out on their behalf and let the world know that we won`t tolerate this anymore and let Michael have justice.

WYNTER: And A.J., it`s not just Jackson fans out here but also Conrad Murray supporters, supporters like Willie Hampton. You`re also a close personal friend of Dr. Murray.

WILLIE HAMPTON, CLOSE PERSONAL FRIEND OF DR. CONRAD MURRAY: Yes, Ma`am. I`m a friend of his from Houston, Texas. After I finished law school in Austin, I move to Houston. I became friends with Conrad.

WYNTER: You strongly believe in his innocence.

HAMPTON: Yes, Ma`am. Absolutely. He`s a wonderful person. He`s a good doctor. He has patients who love him all over the United States. And I know that he loved Michael. Michael loved him.

That`s why Michael called on him. He was his doctor before this happened. Michael called on him in desperation and he responded. I`m sorry that Conrad responded. I wish he had never responded.

And also, I know that Conrad - Dr. Murray, loved Michael`s kids and he loves the Jackson family. And I have, many times, threw fits and he will stop me from talking about Michael or Michael`s family.

WYNTER: OK. Well, a lot of fans here. No matter what side you fall on, they have very, very strong views. And this is a case that`s going to be followed really closely across the world until that verdict comes in.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Kareen, it`s just day one. This is going to get crazier, isn`t it?

WYNTER: Yes, absolutely. And as someone who`s been out there all day, I could feel it. You could cut the tension with a knife. The Jackson fans, the Conrad Murray supporters, who, by the way, feel they`re being muzzled here, that their First Amendment rights are being infringed on.

But they say they`re not going to stop at all in this process. They`re going to be there for the duration of the trial no matter who likes it or not. A.J.?

HAMMER: I think we have no idea how big it`s going to get. All right. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Kareen Wynter, thanks. HLN and SHOWBIZ TONIGHT covering the Conrad Murray trial like no one else.

Everybody from HLN a part of this - Nancy Grace, of course, Jane Velez-Mitchell, Dr. Drew, Joy Behar, Vinnie Politan and me. Justice for Michael. Be sure to keep it here on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT and HLN.

HAMMER: And as we move on, tonight, "The View`s" Sherri Shepherd is never one to hold back. Tonight, she`s got a lot to say about Bristol Palin`s big battle with a heckler. You know, the one who went after Bristol`s mom.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

STEPHEN HANKS, SARAH PALIN HECKLER: She`s evil. She`s evil. She -

BRISTOL PALIN, DAUGHTER OF FMR. GOV. SARAH PALIN: All right. Is this because you`re a homosexual?

HANKS: Pretty much.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Bristol caught some heat for her verbal smackdown. But what does Sherri Shepherd think Bristol should have done? Her dramatic advice is coming up.

And Sherri`s sounding off on another hot topic trending today. An "L- Word" actress booted from a Southwest flight for kissing her girlfriend.

Plus, "The Millionaire Matchmaker`s" big mess. Patti Stanger sparked a major outrage after comments about gays, Jews and smart women. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

And now, the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news tonight.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Now what? Oh, come on!

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Hugh Jackman sneaks a right hook to the face of Dolph Ziggler on WWE Raw while the ref wasn`t looking. Now, Ziggler later tweeted that Jackman actually broke his jaw. Does Hugh Jackman feel bad about this?

Well, Jackman is breaking news to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT about his big WWE knockout. Jackman just appeared on Monday night raw to promote his new film, "Real Steel." And I`ve got to tell you, tonight, I`m starting to wonder if his fists are perhaps made of real steel.

He is Wolverine, after all. That said, you know how these things go. Big celeb shows up ringside and puts on a show for the crowd. Yes, I don`t want to ruin it for the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT executive producer, Dave Levine.

But you know, the wrestling stuff is pretty much all planned out. But wrestler Dolph Ziggler claims that Hugh`s punch wasn`t part of the plan and he claims the actor fractured his jaw.

Well, tonight, Hugh Jackman is setting the record straight with SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Jill Simonian about what really happened.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JILL SIMONIAN, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT CORRESPONDENT: Tell me the story about what really happened during that WWE breaking the wrestler`s jaw -

HUGH JACKMAN, ACTOR: Well, look, his manager disrespected my fighter and I just laid him out. You know, this is - he deserved it.

SIMONIAN: But, of course - right. Right. Was he really hurt, though, or was it a stunt?

JACKMAN: I hit him pretty hard, I must admit. By the way, what happens in that ring is real, like we kind of talked about it before. And I said, "Man, if it gets to that, I`m not going to hit you." He says, "You`re hitting me."

I said, "I`ve spent 20 years pulling punches." I don`t know if I like - it`s going to be weird. And he says, "You`re hitting me. If you don`t hit me, they`re booing you."

I said, "Don`t tell an actor he`s going to get booed." So yes, I kind of hit him maybe a little harder than I thought. The adrenaline is pumping -

SIMONIAN: Did you feel bad?

JACKMAN: Absolutely. I sent him a case of beer the next day. Traditionally, in Australia, we actually kind of have a beer together after we fight. So -

SIMONIAN: Well, I like that you made it right.

JACKMAN: Yes, of course.

SIMONIAN: Of course, of course.

JACKMAN: But I`m not sure if he broke - I think he might be exaggerating there.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Well, there you go. By the way, Hugh Jackman`s "Real Steel" is in theaters October 7th.

Time for the SHOWBIZ lineup - here`s what`s coming up at the bottom of the hour on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.

You`ve got to see this - Britney Spears sparking a fierce battle over a gun. So did she go too far in a new music video?

And this is crazy. The "Millionaire Matchmaker`s" big mess. Patti Stanger in some pretty hot water today after controversial comments about gays and Jews.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

COHEN: Why, what do Jewish men do?

STANGER: They lie.

COHEN: Jewish men lie?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: So is Patti doing a major about-face now? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN new and views.

It is time for the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - these are more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news tonight.

COHEN: Why? What do Jewish men do?

STANGER: They lie.

COHEN: Jewish men lie. So I`m a non-monogamous liar.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Tonight, the stunning outrage and massive fallout from this matchmaker mess.

Britney`s British brouhaha. There is outrage in England over violence in Britney Spears` new music video. Why people across the pond are demanding an apology from Britney tonight.

Sherri`s "SHOWBIZ" hot topics. "The View" co-host, Sherri Shepherd, sounding of on the "L-Word" actress booted from Southwest airlines for kissing her girlfriend, and why Sherri is sticking up for Bristol Palin.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HANKS: She`s evil. She`s evil. She`s -

B. PALIN: All right. Is it because you`re a homosexual?

HANKS: pretty much.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Wait until you hear Sherri`s SHOWBIZ view unplugged.

ANNOUNCER: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show continues right now.

(MUSIC)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It is 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

Man, I`ve got big news breaking tonight. I`ve got "The View`s" Sherri Shepherd unplugged right here in a SHOWBIZ newsmaker interview.

Sherri is all fired up tonight about the Michael Jackson death trial. I have got to find out what she thinks about those shocking recordings that played in court today of Michael totally out of it on propofol.

Plus, why Sherri has got Bristol Palin`s back. She actually thinks Bristol should have clocked that guy who insulted her mother, Sarah Palin, in a bar.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER (on camera): Well, Sherri, it`s always great to see, my love.

SHERRI SHEPHERD, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": It`s always great to see you, A.J.

HAMMER: You have a full plate these days. You just got married. Of course, you`re working on "The View" every day. You`re partnering with Oral B. It`s a great oral health campaign called "Powerful Moments of Truth." My hats off for keeping this schedule together.

SHEPHERD: Thank you.

HAMMER: Let us talk about the truth that people are trying to get to today in the trial of Michael Jackson`s doctor. We got chills when we heard prosecutors play recordings they said were of Michael totally spaced out on propofol. Let`s listen to that.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

M. JACKSON: We have to be phenomenal. When people leave this show, when people leave my show, I want them to say, "I`ve never seen nothing like this in my life. Go. Go. I`ve never seen nothing like this. Go. It`s amazing. He`s the greatest entertainer in the world."

I`m taking that money, a million children, children`s hospital, the biggest in the world. Michael Jackson Children`s Hospital.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes, so this is the first time we`re hearing this, of course, Sherri. And I have to tell you, I was watching every moment of the opening statements.

When that came on, I sat back in my chair and I just couldn`t believe - I`m listening to that thinking, that`s not Michael Jackson, but it is Michael Jackson. At least that is what they`re saying.

I`m sure that`s going to prove to be the case. When you hear Michael`s slurred words like that, what goes through your mind?

SHEPHERD: I am so shocked because that`s a side of Michael Jackson that we`ve never, ever been allowed to see, if that is Michael Jackson indeed. I mean, we`ve see the "shamon" and all of greatness of Michael Jackson.

So I am - it`s a little heartbreaking, I think, to hear something so private be so public.

HAMMER: Yes. And that shows to me this is just the beginning. This is just scratching the surface of what`s going to be exposed over the course of this trial.

SHEPHERD: Well, I know the Jackson family said that when he gets there, they`re going to try to destroy his character and everything about him, so -

HAMMER: Yes. We`ve been talking about that. And for some reason the prosecutors in this case have reportedly decided not to have Michael`s children testify.

Now, we`ve heard reports the kids are eager to talk about what happened before their dad died. Now, it`s looking like they won`t be given the chance.

Sherri, a lot of people are saying that actually maybe they should be given the chance because they can speak to Michael`s character and they can talk about what a dedicated and loving father he was. What`s your take on that?

SHEPHERD: Well, you know, I`m not an attorney so I don`t know. One thing I`ve learned from, you know, being an avid watcher of the Casey Anthony trial is that there`s a lot going on that we, as viewers, don`t know about.

And if they think that`s best, maybe it might be. You know, maybe at the last hour, they will bring in the kids. One thing I`m going to tell you though, Conrad Murray better start smiling because if I were the jury, he`d look guilty.

(CROSS TALK)

He`d better put a smile on his face.

HAMMER: There`s that. I mean, the jurors - look, they`re paying attention to everything. They have what they`re mandated to do and how they`re supposed to react to whatever. But face it. They`re human beings and they (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

(CROSS TALK)

SHEPHERD: Yes. Don`t let me be juror number 12 because I`m like, "You look guilty. You`re gone." Where`s my "Playboy" shoot after this?

HAMMER: As you`d like to say on "The View." Let`s move on to another hot topic, shall we? Oh, we have one to talk about tonight that you`ve been raring at on "The View."

SHEPHERD: Yes.

HAMMER: Bristol Palin`s bar brawl with the guy who insulted Sarah Palin, Bristol`s mom. Let`s watch how it all started. This is when Bristol was riding a mechanical bull in West Hollywood, which is funny to me.

SHEPHERD: Which we all do.

HAMMER: But she was shooting her reality show. Let`s watch what happens.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Did you ride Levi like that? Your mother`s a whore.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Bristol, what was that about?

B. PALIN: Repeat what you said to me.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You`re mother`s a (EXPLETIVE DELETED) devil, dude.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes. She`s a devil.

HANKS: She lives. She breathes.

B. PALIN: Do you want her dead?

HANKS: No, but you know what? If there was a hell, which I don`t believe there is one, she will be there.

B. PALIN: OK. Why is that?

HANKS: She`s evil. She`s evil. She`s -

B. PALIN: All right. Is this because you`re a homosexual?

HANKS: Pretty much.

B. PALIN: And that`s why you hate her?

HANKS: And why did you say I`m a homosexual?

B. PALIN: Because I can tell you are.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: I`m not exactly sure why Bristol brought that all up. But the truth be told, regardless of what you think of Sarah Palin, the guy seemed pretty much out of line to me.

Now, on "The View," you said that Bristol should have, you know, forewent all of the debate with the guy and just clocked him.

SHEPHERD: I did. I think Bristol was very classy in the way she handled him. If she would have been black, this would have been, "Your momma`s a hoe. Oh, my eye. Oh, my god, what did you hit me for?"

I mean, that`s just the law. You don`t talk about somebody`s mother without expecting some kind of ramification. He attacked her, so what did you expect? She was going to stand there? I thought she was very classy in the way she handled that.

HAMMER: But you don`t really feel physical violence was the way to go.

SHEPHERD: A.J., come to me and say to me my mama`s a hoe.

HAMMER: Oh, you know I would not - not even joke about - OK.

SHEPHERD: Say it right now. Say it right now.

HAMMER: Point taken, Sherri.

SHEPHERD: OK.

HAMMER: All right. Speaking of kiss-offs, let`s talk about a kiss-off of another kind right now. How about this for the ultimate kiss-off?

We learned today Southwest Airlines kicked off "L-Word" actress, the great Leisha Hailey, from one of their flights because she was apparently kissing her girlfriend.

What is it - does it seem to you that, if this was at all true, that she was simply kissing her girlfriend, that Southwest is way out of line. I couldn`t imagine.

SHEPHERD: You know, because we don`t know what kind of kissing it was, if it was like full-out make-out, tonguing, kissing, then that might have been a little too much. But Southwest has put off a lot of people out there.

HAMMER: And she said - for her part, she said that wasn`t the case. Southwest is saying something different.

SHEPHERD: I mean, you know, if it was just a peck, that`s fine. But if I`m sitting in that seat and I`m not getting any, I sure don`t want to see you getting any.

HAMMER: Well, there`s that. Now, after the kissing incident, here is what Hailey fired off - this string of angry tweets. She believes it was homophobia, in fact, that was at play here and the fact that she and her girlfriend got booted from the flight. That`s why.

She says, "This is an outrage. I demand a public apology by Southwest and a refund. Hate is not a family value. I will never fly this airline."

And she goes on to say, "Since when is showing affection toward someone you love illegal? I want to know what Southwest Airlines considers as family."

But Southwest claiming that she and her girlfriend went further than just a little love peck. They said, "Our crew responsible for the comfort of all customers on board, approached the passengers based solely on behavior and not gender."

"The conversation escalated to a level that was better resolved on the ground as opposed to in flight." PDA obviously is not a crime here. Do you think Southwest is going to find themselves in a bit of a pickle?

SHEPHERD: Well, I mean, if you look at Southwest, they`re history. They kicked off a woman with her two-year-old because he was crying. They kicked off a member of Green Day just this month because his pants were sagging.

They kicked off somebody they were inappropriate. Southwest`s model should be, "Give us your money. We`re going to kick you off." They kick off everybody.

HAMMER: Listen - and they have to realize, and I think everybody in business has to realize, the power of social media and Twitter.

SHEPHERD: Yes.

HAMMER: If something happens that you don`t like, it`s going to be tweeted about.

SHEPHERD: Read about it.

HAMMER: If it happens to be a celebrity, look out. We`re going to be talking about it. All right. I need to wish you good luck, Sherri, on your work with Oral B, the campaign to get people to take care of their teeth. You have beautiful teeth. Obviously, it`s very important.

SHEPHERD: Thank you.

HAMMER: Please don`t go anywhere.

SHEPHERD: I`m not.

HAMMER: I can`t believe I`m going to say this to you, but we have to talk about fat sex, something you debate on "The View." Let`s watch what happened.

SHEPHERD: Fat sex. Let`s talk about it.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WHOOPI GOLDBERG, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": Kirstie Alley set a big motivation behind her 100-pound weight loss. It was this, and I quote, "I didn`t want to have fat sex, but now, I`m ready for love."

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: All right, Sherri. You have to stay right where you are because I need to ask you about that, and I will, coming up.

SHEPHERD: You want to know about some big girl sex?

HAMMER: Hold on a second, Sherri.

SHEPHERD: Come on now. Let`s talk.

HAMMER: But first, we`ve got to talk about Britney`s criminal activity. Britney Spears sparking outrage in England over violence in her new music video. People over there actually demanding that Brit say she`s sorry. Now, are they out of line or do they have a right to hold it against her?

"The Millionaire Matchmaker`s" cheap shots. Straight women, dumb in love? Gay men, bad at monogamy? Is this any way to hook people up?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

COHEN: Why, what do Jewish men do?

STANGER: They lie.

COHEN: Jewish men lie.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Tonight, Patti Stanger`s matchmaker mess. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

And this is the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - these are more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news tonight.

TEXT: Charlie Sheen and Warner Bros. reach settlement over firing in March. SHOWBIZ first listen: Bruno Mars "It Will Rain" from "Breaking Dawn" soundtrack.

(MUSIC)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York with Britney`s British brouhaha. Yes, Britney and her boyfriend, Jason, are in some pretty hot water today with politicians in the London neighborhood where Brit shot her latest music video.

In this video, Britney is holding a gun. Her boyfriend, Jason Trawick in the background. He`s got a duffel bag. It`s a real Bonnie and Clyde type of scene.

Now, the local politicians are furious. They`re saying that`s Britney`s gun-toting act promotes violence so soon after the riots in London. But did Britney do anything wrong?

With me now from Hollywood, it is the host of - make no mistake about it - the highest-rated talk show in all of the U.K., Jeremy Kyle. Jeremy, it`s great to have you here. I appreciate it.

JEREMY KYLE, TV HOST: Thank you, A.J. How weird is this? I actually filmed in New York three blocks from you and yet I`m 3,000 miles away in L.A. and you invite me on your show.

HAMMER: It`s insanity. But I`m happy you`re there in Hollywood, because you`re coming to Hollywood. Congratulations on your showing going to KTTV there.

KYLE: Thank you very much.

HAMMER: I`m actually very excited to get your take on what`s happening with Britney particularly because it happened across the pond closer to where you`re actually from.

KYLE: Absolutely.

HAMMER: She was shooting her video for her upcoming single, "Criminal." She`s obviously playing a role here, holding a gun.

KYLE: Sure.

HAMMER: And I do get the sensitivity, but I do think that people need to relax. It`s a music video. It is certainly not the first to show violence. So Jeremy, what`s your take? Why do you think Britney has got people so riled up?

KYLE: I think you`re dead right. Where do you draw the line? Are you telling me that every child that`s ever seen a cowboy and Indian film is actually going to do something wrong? It`s ridiculous.

The thing is, there have been riots in the U.K. recently. I think the world would know that. There are disaffected youths. There`s disillusionment. There are problems, right?

But to blame it on a music video - I mean, you can look at films and DVDs and all sorts of things ridiculous. Ian Rathbone, the guy, I think, in Hackney in East London comes out on a program in England and says, Britney Spears is inciting gun violence.

No, she`s not. She`s making a DVD for a song. It was, as you said, a Bonnie and Clyde thing. I`ll give you an example that`s quite interesting. A couple years ago when the "Jeremy Kyle Show," the talk show, sort of really climbed in the ratings and became the front of everybody`s minds.

A particular politician, the guy who Chris Riley(ph) was talking about the problems of the British teenagers and youths. And he said, "It`s the Jeremy Kyle generation." I remember meeting this guy afterwards and saying, "Did you say that because you knew by using my show`s name, you`d get publicity?"

And he said, "Well, yes, to be honest." You wonder if Rathbone and the people up and down go, "We`ll use Britney Spears. We`ll use her as an excuse and we`ll complain." Maybe that`s the reason, but it`s not her fault at all. There are issues that need to be dealt with.

HAMMER: Now, this Rathbone guy, though, in addition to saying it just sort of sets a bad example, is saying she broke the law. You know, if she broke the law -

KYLE: It`s a toy gun!

HAMMER: Well, yes, this is just what he`s saying. Now, of course, Britney`s people are saying that the video is a fantasy story. It just features Jason and it literally plays out the lyrics of a song written three years before the riots ever happened.

So Jeremy, Britney is not apologizing here. Do you think she does owe anyone an apology, especially if she did break the law?

KYLE: I personally don`t. I think the word "fantasy" - I think the word "story," I think the word "video," the word "song." This is not somebody running the streets with a gun.

If there are issues in any country in the world, then politicians have to deal with them. Making a - you know, making a music video with a toy gun - is that inciting? No. HAMMER: Yes.

KYLE: I mean, there are controls for all sorts of videos. I just - you know, everybody knows there are problems in the U.K., across the world, right? Deal with those politicians. Don`t use other people as excuses. That would be my opinion.

HAMMER: I`m right there with you and I think people need to relax. But right now, perhaps more importantly tonight, I must move on to "Millionaire Matchmaker" Patti Stanger`s big mess today.

I mean, she really, I think, screwed up. She insulted Jews and gays and women in one fell swoop. Patti appeared on an episode of "Watch What Happens Live" on the Bravo network. She told a caller into the show gay men have trouble staying in monogamous relationships among other things. Watch this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

STANGER: Are you straight or gay?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Gay.

STANGER: Well, then, you`re OK. There`s grinder for you. Go on grinder. You`ll have a great time.

COHEN: Wait. Hold on. So, wait, the gays can have open relationships -

STANGER: There is no curbing the gay. Have you seen a "Madison" episode? I mean, seriously. I tried to curb you people and you just don`t - I`ve decided to throw in the towel and say, do what you want. But when you find the right person, you will know.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Openly gay Andy Cohen right there clearly miffed by what Patti was saying. And she also said Jewish men lie. Women need to dumb it down if they want to date more. Jeremy, are you with me that she made a huge mistake by sounding off like that? I couldn`t believe it.

KYLE: A.J., I`m absolutely with you completely. To be honest, I mean, she`s apologized today. She`s backtracking. I mean, anybody that`s decent would believe quite rightly those abhorrent comments.

She teaches you a thing, doesn`t she, in the public eye, whoever you are, however well known you might be. I think, you know - I think it was gross naivete. I think if she was out to cause a reaction, it was done really badly.

It was the wrong reaction. I think you just have to be really, really careful. As a 46-year-old married father of four, those reactions, those comments to me are abhorrent and wrong.

And yes, she`s backtracking. I think, you know, people will buy an opinion, A.J., if they think you`re being honest, even if they spend a lifetime disagreeing with you.

But when you say things like that that blatantly oh-so-outrageous, people would just say, "You know what? I`m not going to take much of what you say seriously." Is she happy with the reaction? She can`t be because she`s backtracking.

HAMMER: No, and I don`t think she`s doing a good job backtracking. She gave an interview to Joy Behar that aired tonight. And Joy tried to explain to Patti her big mistake was making a generalization about all gay men. Watch what happened here.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BEHAR: If you said all blacks, all Chinese, all women, anything, it will get you in trouble.

STANGER: I apologize if GLAAD was offended. But I`ve been the first person for gay marriage in the box to put it on the map, on the television, where every network fought me. "Queerest Folk" wouldn`t do it, OK? I was the one and I`m still there.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: I don`t think Patti gets it at all. Yes, she`s for gay marriage. She likes gay people. I don`t think she has any clue what she did wrong there. So I`m taking it, Jeremy, you think she should probably just zip it, maybe stop giving interviews and -

KYLE: Probably.

HAMMER: Stick to her show?

KYLE: Probably zip it because it`s - the whole thing, A.J., is about labeling. Once you label people in whatever way, it`s wrong. You know, at the beginning of that bit, she said, "I`ve tried to tell you people," like she`s got some reason to tell every gay person in America or the world how they should or shouldn`t behave, you know. Maybe she needs to, like you say, stop backtracking and just shut it. Yes. Maybe that`s the right word.

HAMMER: Jeremy Kyle, it was great having you here.

KYLE: Thank you.

HAMMER: And I look forward to seeing you when you`re back in New York City. Thanks so much, my friend.

KYLE: Well, I just walked three blocks, A.J. Thanks a lot, pal. Take care.

HAMMER: All right. Take it easy. As we move on tonight, we`ve got to get to a hot debate about steamy sex. Kirstie Alley says she didn`t want to have fat sex before her dramatic weight loss. But does it even matter how much you weigh?

We are going between the sheets with Sherri Shepherd, so to speak. That is next. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN news and views.

Now, it`s the "SHOWBIZ News Ticker" - more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom making news tonight.

TEXT: January Jones leaves name of her child`s father off of birth certificate. Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Cure, Beastie Boys are nominees for the Rock Hall of Fame.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: A hot debate about steamy sex. But is there really a difference between fat sex and skinny sex? I`m back with Sherri Shepherd, who is a co-host on "The View" and the new spokesperson for Oral B`s "Powerful Moments of Truth" campaign. What?

SHEPHERD: OK. Thank you.

HAMMER: What? I -

SHEPHERD: You talk about fat sex and then you go - I`m the spokesperson for Oral B. You`ve got to space that out, A.J.

HAMMER: I`m sorry. My mind wasn`t going there. Let`s move to this big buzz over fat sex. It started when Kirstie Alley said one of the reasons she lost 100 pounds was this, "I didn`t like the way I looked and I didn`t want to have fat sex."

"What I`m looking for is to be madly, deeply in love. For the first time in my life, I know exactly what I want in a man." Pretty controversial statement. Seems to put a negative spin on sex as an overweight person. The reason I`m talking to you about this, Sherri -

SHEPHERD: Yes, what is the reason you`re talking to me, A.J.?

HAMMER: No. It went viral after you guys talked about it on "The View." So what`s your take?

SHEPHERD: Right. My take is, you know, with Kirstie, Kirstie does not like being big. So anything related to being fat, she didn`t like and that spilled over to sex.

Now, this is what I feel about fat sex, skinny sex. If you love the way you look, and you love your body, then it doesn`t matter.

The sex is going to be good, because I`ve seen celebrities who have sex tapes and they are skinny and they are boring as - what is all - they`re not good.

HAMMER: What`s going on about that?

SHEPHERD: Boring.

HAMMER: Yes.

SHEPHERD: I got girls pushing - my girlfriend is pushing 250 and she has a good time every single time. You`ve just got to love who you are.

HAMMER: Didn`t you say something to the effect of, you know, it doesn`t matter your size. You can get freaky at any size.

SHEPHERD: You can get freaky at any size and it can be good. So if you really love your body and you can walk across that room butt naked, it`s good to go.

HAMMER: Said with a wide smile on your face.

SHEPHERD: That`s right.

HAMMER: Sherri Shepherd, it`s great to see you.

SHEPHERD: You know who`s good and who`s bedroom it`s good in. There you go.

HAMMER: All right. Now, I have to wish you good luck with your partnership with Oral B and "Powerful Moment of Truth" campaign. You`re inspiring people to take charge of their oral health.

SHEPHERD: Yes. Come on to Facebook, Oral B Facebook, on September 30th. I`m doing a live chat.

HAMMER: Thanks so much.

SHEPHERD: Yes.

HAMMER: I`ll be there. Moving on now to Rihanna running afoul with a farmer? The sultry singer gets nearly naked for her new video. Sounds sexy, right?

Well, maybe for some folks, but definitely not for one ticked off Irish farmer. We have Rihanna`s farmer outrage, coming up next.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Rihanna freaks out a farmer. Yes, the smoking hot singer got an Irish farmer hot under the collar after baring too much skin.

Here`s the deal. Rihanna was shooting a video for her song "We Fell in Love" on the farmer`s land. The farmer found little to love about Rihanna`s tiny outfits, which went from a bikini top to a bra to, finally, according to some reports, topless.

That`s when the poor guy had enough. He shut down the entire video shoot. The farmer says he had a conversation with Rihanna. They shook hands and Rihanna ended up shooting the video on another farm nearby.

That is it for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Thanks for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York. Remember, you can catch SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusively Monday to Friday at 11:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific right here on HLN.

And stay right here for "DR. DREW," coming up next. Tonight, Dr. Drew and CNN`s Dr. Sanjay Gupta talk about the effects of the drug cocktail in Michael Jackson`s system before his death. "DR. DREW" on HLN starts right now.
