A. J. HAMMER, HOST: Big news breaking tonight on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Kim and Kanye`s love connection?
(MUSIC PLAYING)
HAMMER: Kim Kardashian`s startling first interview today about whether she`s really dating Kanye West.
KIM KARDASHIAN, CELEBRITY: Kanye and I have been friends for years and --
HAMMER: Tonight, the great debate, are Kim and Kanye a match made in heaven?
J. Lo`s sizzling reveal. Jennifer Lopez sexes it up with her 24-year-old boyfriend in her brand-new music video.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
HAMMER: J. Lo and Casper Smart, skin to skin. Our SHOWBIZ "Flashpoint": could J. Lo`s PDA backfire?
Clash of the chefs. Anthony Bourdain`s reservations about Paula Deen. Tonight her brand new counterattack after Bourdain slams her diabetes secret. So what`s he saying now? Anthony Bourdain, right here in a headline-making Showbiz newsmaker interview.
TV`s most provocative entertainment news show breaks news right now.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
HAMMER: Hello, and thank you for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York with big news breaking tonight. Kim`s Kanye confession. So are Kim and Kanye sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G? Sorry, I had to ask. It`s not just me. While I`m at it, let me ask this, could Kim Kardashian be engineering her greatest publicity stunt, well, since her wedding?
OK. Maybe that`s not too fair, but today Kim spoke out for the first time in a much-hyped interview about all of those reports floating around out there that she and Kanye West are now hooking up. Kris Humphries who?
And talk about perfect timing, I mean, come on. Just as she announced today a brand-new season of her reality show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," Kanye is releasing his new album with a song professing his love for Kim.
OK. I`m going to put aside cynicism for just one second. One-one thousand -- all right. Time`s up. Let me bring in lifestyle and pop culture expert Megan Meany, who`s with me in New York and "Hollywood Tonight" celebrity publicist Kita Williams, who starred on VH1`s "T.O. Show."
OK. So Kim and Kanye have a night on the town in busy New York City taking in a movie. He releases that new album, caps everywhere, snapping pictures of them, the Internet is on fire. And then this morning on the "Today" show, Ann Curry asked Kim to tell us all what we think we already know. Let`s watch that together.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
ANN CURRY, HOST, "TODAY": The lyrics of his new song, "Theraflu," says "I admit I fell in love with Kim around the time she fell in love with him. Well, that`s cool, baby girl, do your thing." I mean, on Twitter they`re even calling Kimye. I mean, do you want to clarify this in any way?
KARDASHIAN: I completely respect and understand that you have to ask these questions. But I said before, I mean, Kanye and I have been friends for years, and you know, you never know what the future holds or where my life will take me. So I like the song.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: God, that hurts my head so much to watch that. Obviously, Kim is playing coy there. Hey, you never know what the future holds. Megan, look, classic, classic Kim Kardashian publicity stunt. How can we not think that now?
MEGAN MEANY, LIFESTYLE AND POP CULTURE EXPERT: I`m thinking the same thing. This is highly suspicious, isn`t it?
Now, of course, Kanye is not one for subtlety, is he? We know with the whole Taylor Swift incident, he likes to go after innocent victims like poor Kris Humphries in this song. And you know, why couldn`t you take a page from Carly Simon`s book, that "You`re So Vain"? We never did find out who that was --
(CROSSTALK)
HAMMER: She didn`t name anybody by name in the song.
MEANY: This is my point exactly. Maybe we need to expect a little more of artists these days. But is there a romance brewing here? I think there might be a little when it`s quiet at the club, there might be some getting together.
HAMMER: Understand.
MEANY: But I do think this is wonderful timing for both of them. New album and new show.
HAMMER: Saying friends with benefits, I think, is what I heard there.
Kita, All right. Let me get your professional opinion on this as a celebrity publicist. You know how to make sure things go right for your star clients. Are you smelling a stunt, or to not be a cynical perhaps the start of a beautiful new romance for Kim? I don`t want to discount that.
KITA WILLIAMS, CELEBRITY PUBLICIST: I mean, you know, here`s how I see it. As a publicist I do understand what it takes to keep your client in the spotlight. The Kardashian machine has been brilliant in doing it. And, I mean, Kanye is, of course, not a stranger. I used to work with Kanye when I was at Def Jam.
But the important thing here is you said that they`re K-I-S-S-I-N-G. As long as the cameras are R-O-L-L-I-N-G, that`s what they`re going to be doing. It`s no secret that they like the spotlight. So why are we surprised?
HAMMER: All right. No, no. So to be clear, Kita, especially from personal experience having worked directly with Kanye and knowing him, it wouldn`t surprise you at all if he did that song lyric for the reasons of generating the buzz it`s getting right now? Here we are talking about it?
WILLIAMS: I mean, we live in a world where music isn`t all about having a singing voice. I think the best thing I can say from working with Kanye at Def Jam is the fact he`s known for that whole entire like, you know, tactic of just catching you off-guard. I mean, look at the lyrics of the song. It said, you know, I -- she -- "I fell in love with Kim around the same time she fell in love with him."
Now we all now that his album is dropping. It`s no secret to anybody. I just -- can I just say this? I feel like this, as a publicist, great move. Keep doing what you`re doing, because we`re talking about it. As a reality show personality and creator of a show, I`ll say this, I have this motto: take a seat.
I need Kim to take a seat. It`s no surprise that the world sees -- I need mama to take a seat, I need the other Kardashians to take a seat. And I need her sisters to take a baby seat, because at this point it`s time to kind of you know, remove yourself from the spotlight and have people want to see what you`re doing.
HAMMER: Amen.
WILLIAMS: I mean, we all understand the K Collection. Obviously, Kanye`s going to be part of the K Collection. His name starts with a K so it`s perfect.
HAMMER: Yes, it`s a perfect. But maybe he`s --
(CROSSTALK)
HAMMER: Maybe he`s singing about Kim Cattrall from "Sex in the City." I don`t know. Kim, you know, she`s not saying anything flat out about a possible new lover. However, that`s not the case with J. Lo tonight.
Jennifer Lopez, a lot less subtle about her relationship with her 24-year- old boyfriend Casper Smart. Now she released a brand-new video. Let there be no doubt they are red hot together. Let us watch.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
HAMMER: All right. So J. Lo putting on this hot and steamy performance with Casper. I have to tell you, this is not new for her. Not the first time we`ve seen her relationship play out in one of her videos. Let`s take a look at here in her video past.
She`s in a stream of steamy videos, all with her exes. She was with Chris Judd, P. Diddy, Ben Affleck, Marc Anthony. Megan, I hate to say it, but they`re all her exes now in those videos. Do you think this one could also come back to haunt her one day?
MEANY: Oh, it might, it might. She might actually break up with this guy, too. I have a couple problems with this one. She`s now a mom of two. She wasn`t when she put everyone else in the videos, right? So we got the kiddies to worry about, we got the orgy scene and we got the boyfriend who`s 18 years younger, who might not last.
So I would liked to have seen, you know, J. Lo keep it subtle on this one, not pull out the Casper card. I think even Casper -- did you see him? He was like rubbing his head at one point. He`s sort of like, is this is a good idea?
HAMMER: Kita, is that how you see it?
WILLIAMS: (Inaudible). You know what, I agree with Megan, on the professional and she`s a mommy. She`s a mogul, you know, her career is at the top. She just got out of a relationship. But then I`m going to sway into the lane of hey, you know, if you got it, do you, boo. At the end of the day, she`s young, she`s sexy.
Being 42 obviously is the reverse for J. Lo, because reverse of 42 is 24, which is how old Casper is. And we all know that J. Lo`s a helpless romantic. We get that.
HAMMER: I agree.
MEANY: At the end of the day, she always says --
WILLIAMS: I don`t think there`s anything wrong with it.
(CROSSTALK)
MEANY: She wears her heart on her sleeve.
WILLIAMS: You agree with me?
HAMMER: I never --
WILLIAMS: Check this out.
HAMMER: I never -- hold on, I got to wrap it up here. I never say this, but I`m going to say it. J. Lo, God bless. Megan Meany, Kita Williams, I thank you both.
MEANY: God bless (inaudible).
HAMMER: All right. We move now to the clash of the chefs. Paula Deen fires back at Anthony Bourdain`s slam on her diabetes secret.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
PAULA DEEN, CELEBRITY CHEF: I was diagnosed three years ago. I was doing a regular physical exam with my doctor, and I had type 2 diabetes.
HAMMER: Tonight, what is behind Bourdain`s disdain for Deen? Anthony Bourdain is right here, I`m going to ask him in a headline-making SHOWBIZ newsmaker interview.
The pretty woman controversy is getting ugly. Tonight the woman who says she`s just too pretty, fires back at critics who say she`s obsessed with herself.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: You use the word I at least 60 times in your article, and so I think the question has to be posed. I mean, are you aware of how narcissistic your piece sounded?
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Good question, Ann. Tonight the so-called pretty woman speaks out. Why she`s not apologizing for her controversial column.
Hunger pains? Tonight why there may be bad news in store for "Hunger Games" fans around the world. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN. News and views. Here`s the SHOWBIZ "News Ticker." More stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom, making news tonight.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A. J. Hammer in New York, and right now it`s a SHOWBIZ exclusive, hanging with Hagar. Now I got together with the legendary Sammy Hagar just before he rocked the House of Blues in New Orleans. It`s part of the big dance concert series. And I learned very quickly that any time that Sammy is around, it`s a party.
The man, after all, did launch his own tequila company. But would he trade all of the good times on stage for a gig perhaps as a singing show judge on TV? Well, you got to hear what Sammy told me about that.
But first, he tells me why if he`s not performing in Cabo San Lucas at his infamous Cabo Wabo Cantina, there`s only one place he wants to be, and that`s New Orleans.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
SAMMY HAGAR, SINGER: Well, Cabo San Lucas, New Orleans, Las Vegas, those are party towns. Really, I love playing these towns because it`s like the party is already here. We just go join it.
HAMMER: I was a little surprised, Sammy, you know, you walked into the bar. I half expected you to just go behind the bar for a second to make sure they were properly featuring. Well, just in case, I checked for you. I did my research --
HAGAR: Thank you, sir.
HAMMER: -- and I made sure that the Cabo Wabo brand was represented here at the house.
HAGAR: I`ve got one in my -- well, if -- at worse, I just represent this way. But I`ve got one in my dressing room. So I`m cool. We roll with a bunch of them. But the truth of the matter is I think they have it here part of the time or most of the time.
You know, people market things and put their name brand on anything, and then they show me the bottle of tequila. I didn`t put my name on that. I invented that. I put the bottles and put the tequila in them and put the corks in them myself. I mean, I totally started that from scratch.
HAMMER: That was not a little vanity project.
(CROSSTALK)
HAMMER: A lot of stars, particularly female stars and some men as well, they`ll come -- the brand will come up with a perfume with them, and then they go into a factory and they sniff a bunch of perfumes and then slap their name on it.
You came up with the tequila.
HAGAR: No, the whole name, the brand, we built the Cabo Wabo, the whole nine yards. So I didn`t slap my name on nothing.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
HAMMER: You know, you obviously with the kind of career you have had and the longevity you have had, you worked long and hard to get there. It`s not lost on anybody. It`s a much different game now. Fame and success comes much differently and in different ways than it used to.
There are people and some quite talented people who get instant fame whether it be because of YouTube or they went on one of these music competitions or reality shows. Anything wrong with that in your mind? Is it just a different day?
HAGAR: Just a different day. There`s nothing wrong with anything. You know, I`m a firm believer. I even -- the whole thing about giving the music away, I think it straightened a lot of record companies that had been really tough on artists and they ripped so many people off.
They -- you know, karma comes around. I`m OK with playing music for free, giving music away. I`m OK with all that. You know, you got to find a way that makes people more creative.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
HAMMER: Were you ever approached to be a judge on one of these shows?
HAGAR: Yes, I was.
HAMMER: Because it`s -- I was -- I -- just look at you. I`m thinking it`s perfect.
HAGAR: I`ve done numerous shows. One of the ones I really like a lot, I won`t say who it is, and I turned it down. I was with my management this afternoon flying in here. We were talking on the plane about doing this and doing that. And I just said, you know, I really don`t want to do TV, because I get offered tons of TV. And I don`t want to do it, because it`s hard work. All right. I admit it.
HAMMER: Everybody always wants to know and you have said not all that long ago that you feel it is inevitable that one day you will find yourself back on stage with Van Halen. My question --
HAGAR: Whoo.
HAMMER: My question -- you said it.
HAGAR: OK.
HAMMER: But here`s my question. First of all, do you still feel that way?
HAGAR: So much water would probably have to go under the bridge. I`m really not interested right now, anyway, but I haven`t been asked. So I`m not like saying no, because I haven`t been asked. They`re doing a tour right now, and it`s doing great and I`m really happy that Eddie seems to be on a good foot and healthy, and that`s the most important thing for that band.
(MUSIC PLAYING)
HAMMER: And a lot of fans obviously think it would be really cool to see a Van Halen reunion with Sammy Hagar one day, so never say never. And if you feel really inspired by all of Sammy`s energy and enthusiasm, you might feel a bit more inspired when I tell you he`s 64 years old. That is inspiring.
Oh, pretty woman. Tonight brand-new ugly fury against the woman who claims she`s so beautiful other women hate her. Freelance columnist Samantha Brick is speaking out today about the backlash that she`s gotten since writing a column in U.K.`s "The Daily Mail" about the downside of her unrelenting beauty. She tells the "Today" show`s Ann Curry she`s not full of herself.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: You use the word "I" at least 60 times in your article. And so I think the question has been to be posed, I mean, are you aware of how narcissistic your piece sounded? And upon review, do you think that perhaps you should have written it maybe a little differently if you really wanted to make your point?
SAMANTHA BRICK, FREELANCE COLUMNIST: Well, the piece is a first-person piece. It`s about my experience and my life, so drawing on other people`s experiences, I wouldn`t be qualified to do that. If I was writing a much more generic piece, then of course, I could have done that.
Really, it was just a tricorative (ph), A. It wasn`t to have a kind of global vitriolic attack on me as an individual, which is what`s happened.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: OK. Guess this controversy won`t be dying down anytime soon.
Moving on now to Giuliana`s cancer confession. Tonight, reality show Giuliana Rancic opens up about her battle with breast cancer and how life has been since having a double mastectomy. Giuliana and her husband, Bill Rancic, right here tonight with an update on how she`s doing. It is a must-see headline-making Showbiz newsmaker interview.
And he`s the king of the deep sea. "Titanic" director James Cameron voyages to the deepest point on Earth and SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is there.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JAMES CAMERON, DIRECTOR AND EXPLORER: At a certain point I said, you know what, just stop. Just stop the vehicle and just take a look out the window with your own eyes. I had to just take a moment and kind of bear witness and feel the weight of the water over my head.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT goes inside James Cameron`s absolutely incredible journey to the bottom of the earth. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN, news and views. Now the SHOWBIZ "News Ticker." These are more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom, making news tonight.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Baldwin bombs. Tonight, the same week Alec Baldwin announced his happy engagement to his 28-year-old girlfriend, his reputation takes a nosedive. And apparently, it`s all his fault.
So what did he do wrong? Well, tonight SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has your exclusive look at reputation.com`s weekly scorecard of who is up and who`s down in Hollywood, all determined by online and social media buzz.
Joining me tonight in Hollywood for the reputation rap, reputation.com`s vice chairman, Howard Bragman.
Great to see you, Howard. You fired up, you ready to go?
HOWARD BRAGMAN, VICE CHAIRMAN, REPUTATION.COM: We`re ready here, A.J.
HAMMER: Well, let`s talk about Alec Baldwin, because to me, Howard, he should be having his best week ever. Now he did go on his Twitter rant after a reporter crashed his fiance`s yoga class to snap a picture. But I think that`s understandable. Why would his reputation score be down?
BRAGMAN: What`s interesting is people don`t judge whether he was right or wrong in his rant. They don`t like him ranting. And every time he rants, his negatives shoot way up, and that`s exactly what happened this week. We perceive Alec as a guy who has a temper he just can`t control.
We have great respect for him as an actor, but we don`t really like his temper. And he`d be better off celebrating his engagement and cooling it a little on the Twitter.
HAMMER: I guess so, but I totally know where he was coming from. That`s too bad that people just have that perception of him, although understandable. All right. So Alec down. Ryan Seacrest is up after just announcing that he`s joining the "Today" show`s Olympic coverage this summer. Howard, people are just loving Ryan this week, aren`t they?
BRAGMAN: Well, people always love Ryan. He has got high positives consistently on the Internet, and he got a really nice burst way up this week when it was announced that he would join NBC`s coverage.
And I`ll tell you what. There`s two parts to the Olympics, A.J. One is the competition, but the second are the human stories. And that`s what Ryan is so good at. And I think people are really excited that he`s going to bring his dose of humanity to the Olympic coverage.
HAMMER: Yes. Good for him. It`s a good mood. Reputation.com`s vice chairman, Howard Bragman, thank you as always, Howard.
Now the SHOWBIZ line-up at the bottom of the hour, right here on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. The clash of the chefs.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DEEN: I was diagnosed three years ago. I was doing a regular physical exam with my doctor, and I had type 2 diabetes.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Anthony Bourdain once slammed fellow chef Paula Deen for her diabetes secret. So what does he have to say now? Well, tonight Anthony Bourdain is right here for a headline-making Showbiz newsmaker interview.
And he`s the king of the deep sea. "Titanic" director James Cameron voyages to the deepest point on Earth. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is right there with him. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN, news and views. Time now for the SHOWBIZ "News Ticker." These are more stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom, making news tonight.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Big news breaking tonight on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. A candid cancer confession. Bill and Giuliana Rancic took us on their journey as Giuliana battled breast cancer. How is Giuliana doing six months after her double mastectomy? Bill and Giuliana are right here with their personal message in a must-see SHOWBIZ newsmaker interview.
Fireworks over food. Famed chef and food critic Anthony Bourdain calls them like he sees them. So what`s his big beef with Paula Deen and some other big name celebrity chefs? Anthony Bourdain is with me right now for another headline-making SHOWBIZ newsmaker interview.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show continues right now.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE:
HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Thank you for watching. It`s 30 minutes past the hour. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York with no reservations about talking tonight with celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, right here on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.
Now Anthony has made it perfectly clear just how he feels about fellow celeb chef Paula Deen`s revelation that she`s been battles diabetes and his fiery words about Paula went from the frying pan right into the fire after Deen revealed on the "Today" show her big diabetes secret.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DEEN: I was diagnosed three years ago. I was doing a regular physical exam with my doctor, and I had type 2 diabetes.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Well, Bourdain slammed Paula for keeping her diabetes a secret for so long while still pushing her fatty food cooking. And now Paula Deen has just fired back. Anthony Bourdain is about to kick off the eighth season of his hit show on the Travel Channel "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations."
I`m so pleased Anthony is with me tonight in New York for the SHOWBIZ newsmaker interview.
It`s great to meet you, first of all.
ANTHONY BOURDAIN, CELEBRITY CHEF: Thank you.
HAMMER: Big fan and love having you here.
BOURDAIN: Thank you.
HAMMER: And before I get to what Paula just said, I want to go back to the beginning of what`s really become a feud. Here`s what you called her: "the most evil, dangerous woman in America," like I said, you say it as you see it.
BOURDAIN: I was asked who the most -- who the worst food -- who the worst cook on Food Network was. And I said most dangerous to America, clearly -- I had the temerity to point out that her food is bad for you.
HAMMER: OK. And beyond that you blasted her for waiting to tell her fans that she had type 2 diabetes until she had a paid endorsement with a diabetes drug maker. Let me read what you tweeted then. This is a direct quote from your Twitter.
"Thinking of getting into the leg breaking business so I can profitably sell crutches later." And I get the tongue-in-cheek aspect of it, but a lot -- look, a lot of people, Anthony, said, wow, that was mean. Are you at all sorry about what you said?
BOURDAIN: I think it was a cynical, opportunistic, greedy and unconscionable act. You know, there`s nothing -- you know, to have diabetes is a terrible situation. There`s (inaudible) 20 million Americans at least have and many more will have, including 1 out of 7 children. To sell food and promote food that is linked to diabetes.
Again, we`re a free country. You make those personal decisions. To keep quiet about it, again, a personal decision. But then to keep quiet until you close a $6 million deal for a treatment for something that you have to know in your very personal way your behaviors have led to or assisted, I thought it was in extraordinarily bad taste.
I`m not the most moral guy in the world. I`m hardly a role model, but it`s not something I would have done. As has been pointed out, I used to smoke on my show, OK? But I didn`t sell you Smoking Tony Dolls or "How to Smoke" cookbooks. I wasn`t selling any cigarettes, and I sure as heck am not selling even the patch now.
HAMMER: And I guess, look, obviously a lot of people feel how you feel, because it did seem very strange. She caught a lot of grief and is still catching a lot of grief for it. And Paula really hadn`t responded to how you put it to her in that tweet since January, since until it went down, until now. She gave a brand-new interview to "Prevention" magazine. Here`s what she said about your comments.
"I thought, oh, my gosh. What hospital did he get out of it? People with diabetes haven`t chosen this. It`s not their fault. I thought that was very, very cruel."
And look --
BOURDAIN: I like the quote -- it was, "Well, he has had his demons. I hope he had them under control." You know, like, you know, he`s probably still shooting dope, I think is what she`s saying in a nice, kind of Southern way.
HAMMER: So how do you respond to that? Because obviously she`s trying to make the point you know, where you said in your tweet that you were thinking about getting into the leg-breaking business so I can sell crutches. She`s making the point she didn`t choose to have or to get diabetes.
BOURDAIN: No, no one does. And there`s absolutely -- I sympathize for that part. There`s a lot to admire about Paula Deen. I`m talking about a $30 million a year empire, not a nice old lady. I`m talking about a business decision by a $30 million a year business, that made a very bad business decision, one that I thought was in bad taste.
That -- and I think it`s fair to comment on. I think it`s exploiting the people she trusted and has been selling -- who trust her and who she`s been selling sugary doughnut bombs to for years. Listen, this is not Southern food she`s been selling. This is -- her brand has been, for all those years, novelty food. Cheeseburgers between Krispy Kreme doughnuts here. The word moderation never came up.
HAMMER: So, OK, Anthony.
BOURDAIN: Come on.
HAMMER: Do you see a time where you might kiss and make up with Paula? What would that take?
BOURDAIN: Nuclear war.
HAMMER: OK. Move right on then.
And look, as I mentioned, as I was bringing you in here, you call it like you see it. That`s part of your trademark. You really pull no punches. You`ve had other targets as well.
You`ve been asked about other celebrity chefs, and you`ve been honest about how you feel and, quite frankly, said some kind of nasty things about them. Sandra Lee, Rachael Ray, but today we got a brand-new interview. Rachael Ray just did it with "Parade" magazine. She said some very nice things about you. May I read one of them to you?
BOURDAIN: Sure.
(CROSSTALK)
BOURDAIN: (Inaudible) sense of humor.
HAMMER: No, she certainly does, and here`s what she says. "I love Tony Bourdain." Am I allowed to call you Tony?
BOURDAIN: Yes.
HAMMER: OK.
"I love Tony Bourdain. I have always been an enormous fan of his. I love his writing and I love watching him on television. I didn`t really care whether or not he was a fan of mine that week, but he and I get along perfectly fine today. He`s actually said very nice, lovely things about me several times, too."
That is a glowing review from Rachael, who you once said was never very good at cooking. So do you still stand by when you said does she even cook anymore? I don`t know why she bothers.
BOURDAIN: Well, why don`t you watch her show, because people watch her show because you like her. You want to spend time with her. Whether she cooks or not is not beside the point. She runs a very good talk show.
My wife watches it and I`m grateful for the words, actually. She`s always had a very good sense of humor about my cracks, some of them admittedly cruel. And we have hung out together a little bit, and there`s no ill will there.
HAMMER: And you have a lot in common in that you`ve had these very well sustained careers. You`re going into your eight season now with "No Reservations."
BOURDAIN: Who knew?
HAMMER: It`s amazing, and we were talking a little bit before we started that, you know, if it wasn`t still fun if it was a pain in the butt to do, you wouldn`t do it anymore. What`s different about what you`re doing this season with the show?
BOURDAIN: I think we`re always looking for more off the road, more difficult places, places that Americans are less likely to have seen and experienced.
And it kind of reinforces the constant that, again and again, I found as we travel the world, what I see reinforces the idea that people with very little, very little to work with, from very poor countries who work very hard and have very little time, can, in fact, and do regularly make really tasty food, and they`re very generous with that food.
And that`s something I think that we, who live in a fairly wealthy nation, I think we can learn from that.
HAMMER: Yes, It`s great to see. It`s heartening to see that. I`ve seen that in some of my travels as well. And I`m glad you`re pointing it out on your show. Great to meet you. Good having you here.
BOURDAIN: Thank you. It was fun.
HAMMER: Anthony Bourdain, thank you so much. Make sure you check out Anthony`s show, "No Reservations "on Travel Channel this Monday night as it kicks off its eighth season.
We move on now to a dramatic star health confession. Bill and Giuliana Rancic face their toughest challenge yet. Life after Giuliana`s double mastectomy. So how is she doing, just six months later? Bill and Giuliana right here to share candid new details about her journey with breast cancer.
Hunger pains? Could the sequel to the "Hunger Games" be in jeopardy? This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN, news and views. Time for the SHOWBIZ "News Ticker." More stories from the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsroom, making news tonight.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. `m A.J. Hammer. Tonight Giuliana and Bill Rancic`s toughest challenge yet. We watch as they juggle two demanding careers, as they struggle to have a baby and then their toughest challenge yet, Giuliana learning that she has breast cancer.
Through it all, Bill has been there by Giuliana`s side as she had a double mastectomy and went through recovery. It certainly has been an emotional and difficult journey. But one they have been very open about, and this week we got a brand-new glimpse into their challenge on the debut of the fifth season of their show, "Giuliana and Bill," on the Style Network.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: (Inaudible) patient. We so concentrated on having babies that we kind of forget about the rest of our health.
GIULIANA RANCIC, TV PERSONALITY: I thought the results would be fine. Then the doctor called and said, we saw something. This isn`t good. This is not good.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Joining me now in New York, Giuliana and Bill Rancic. You can see their show, "Giuliana and Bill" every Tuesday night on the Style Network. It`s always great hanging out with you guys.
G. RANCIC: So good seeing you.
HAMMER: Nice to see you. I actually saw you -- we were together at the Oscars, I guess, just a couple of months ago.
G. RANCIC: Absolutely.
HAMMER: And I was struck. You always look terrific. You`ve have been through a tough time, and I was particularly struck. You just -- you looked great as always when I saw you. It`s now been, what, six months about since you first learned of your diagnosis? So how are you doing? Everybody wants to know.
G. RANCIC: I`m actually doing great. I got to be honest. And the reason I`m doing great is because I did find it early, and that`s very important. And that`s why it`s so important to get out there and really encourage women to find it early. Because if you find it early, chances are you will be OK. And so that`s -- that is why I`m feeling great and have tons of energy.
HAMMER: And it`s been inspiring for me and for fans of the two of you to watch Bill right there by your side through the whole thing, which obviously has to have been very difficult at times for you, Bill. How tough is it new watching it sort of unfold all again on your television show?
BILL RANCIC, TV PERSONALITY: Well, you know, I don`t think it`s tough. I mean, for me, it`s something we`re proud of.
Because it`s a show that hopefully is going to get women and husbands to push their women to go out and take action, to go get checked, you know, take control of their medical destiny. And it`s something that I think a conversation needs to be had and it`s something we`re proud of.
G. RANCIC: It was hard. I mean, we watched the first episode recently ourselves. And the producers kept telling us, oh, like, you know, this is going to air, and you might want to watch it before it airs. And it was actually -- it was very hard to watch.
HAMMER: Yes, it`s got bring stuff up.
G. RANCIC: Oh, absolutely.
B. RANCIC: Of course.
G. RANCIC: But I forgot how much we showed, you know. Like I think I kind of blocked it out. And now to see it again is a little scary.
HAMMER: Were you OK with how much you showed?
G. RANCIC: Yes, I was. I was. You know, we watched it. It was hard to watch. And then my best friend came over and she watched it. And she said, wow, I really had no idea what really was going on, and I`m your best friend. So it inspired her to go out and care a little more about her health. So --
HAMMER: It`s reality TV where the reality is actually real.
(CROSSTALK)
HAMMER: And (inaudible) it`s such an inspiration to so many people. You guys really have done a great job of doing that.
G. RANCIC: Thank you.
HAMMER: And that is something tonight that Mariah Carey`s husband, Nick Cannon, is trying to do. Now in January Nick was hospitalized. He learned he has kidney disease and lupus. Well, today we got our first look at his new online documentary series. It`s called Incredible Health Hustle. That`s right there on his website. Let`s take a look.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
NICK CANNON, PERFORMER: Damn, how did I get here? I mean, just a few days ago I was with my family in the snow playing, having a good time. All of a sudden I started swelling up. I had shortness of breath, excruciating pain in my right side.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Wow. I mean, that is just so powerful to see. Nick still working, still hosting "America`s Got Talent." Fortunately, he`s done the right thing and given up some other things avoiding some of that stress. And he says he`s putting this out there so he can help educate other people who have similar situations going on with a similar condition.
And Giuliana, I have to imagine you watch that and know that he`s doing that. You can relate to it, because that really is why you went so public with your cancer battle.
G. RANCIC: Absolutely. You know, it`s funny, this is the first time I`ve seen that. And I`ve got to say it`s kind of hard to watch, and it`s so true. It really hits home because I remember when this was all happening to me at the very beginning, I would look at childhood pictures of myself, and I would go how did this -- how did I go from that to here? How the hell did this happen?
B. RANCIC: At such a young age.
G. RANCIC: You know, it`s just shocking at 36 years old, how did this happen to me? And that was one of the reasons I went public is because I realized for the first time in my life I`m really not invincible. I`m really not bulletproof.
Yes, I take care of myself. That doesn`t matter always. You still have to stay on top this. So for me it was very important to go public and let other young women know that if it can happen it to me it can happen to them.
HAMMER: Yes, I mean, the invincibility thing, I think that`s something we all feel until a point when something happens in our lives, something like you`re going through.
And, Bill, we have talked extensively in the past about this decision to go public, because it still is a very personal and a very big decision that you guys made together.
Has there been any point or is there any point now where you feel, like despite the good that you`re doing and you will continue to do, that you want to pull it back, maybe say, you know, we need more of our privacy?
B. RANCIC: You know, I mean, we get plenty of privacy. I mean, the show, it`s not as if they live in our home, and you know, we`re producers on the show. So we do have the ability to control some of the content.
But from day one with this reality show, we said we`re going to use this show for good and not evil. And that`s what we`ve done over the last five seasons. We`ve tackled a lot of issues that affect a lot of couples, and I think this is a great legacy for Giuliana because, you know, if you save one life as a result of going public, that`s more than most people can say they`ve done in entire lifetime.
HAMMER: And it`s not lost on me you want to do your show for good and not evil. And the show is a success and it`s going on, what, season five now. You know, evil usually wins out on reality TV show. Bravo for Bill and Giuliana.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Good guys. Always great to see them.

NADYA SULEMAN, "OCTOMOM": I`m open-minded. If an opportunity -- if it comes my way, then I will speak openly. I always go through the children first. I raise them with very, very open communication and authenticity and honesty, and that`s how I choose to raise my kids.
So I`m open to it. If there`s some kind of a great -- you know, if I`m fortunate enough to have that opportunity, I`m going to be receptive to it.

HAMMER: "Hunger Games" delayed? The sequel to the blockbuster the "Hunger Games" just might have to wait.
According to a brand-new report in the "Hollywood Reporter", the next installment of the book franchise, "Catching Fire," will likely go on the back burner while the studio works out a big contract dispute with the movie`s writer-director, Gary Ross. He reportedly took a mere $3 million to do the first film and did not sign on to do the sequel.

DEANDRE BRACKENSICK, "AMERICAN IDOL" PERFORMER: Yes, you know, I just got all my tears out backstage after the camera was off. You know, I kind of had a feeling somewhat. So I picked my song.
You know, I just -- I just wanted to end up on a happy note, I just wanted all my "Idol" family just to know that I`m proud of my accomplishments and I`m glad of where I`ve gotten, you know. I can`t be sad about what I didn`t do.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: James Cameron is easily one of the most innovative directors in Hollywood. His re-release of `Titanic" in 3-D this weekend is going to achieve yet another record I`m sure. The original was one of the top grossing films of all time, beaten out by Cameron`s other blockbuster, "Avatar."
But Cameron`s not just a pioneer in film. He has taken his exploration to the deep sea, where he achieved something that nobody has done before. He dove to the deepest point on Earth. CNN`s Jason Carroll followed Cameron every step the way. Jason.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JASON CARROLL, CNN CONTRIBUTOR: James Cameron called in from Guam it to talk about his historic dive to Challenger Deep, the deepest known point on the planet in the Pacific. He talked about what he saw when he reached the bottom, how he felt and how he was inspired to do even more.
Going back to when you were down at Challenger Deep, can you just take us back to what that moment was like for you, when you reached the bottom?
CAMERON: Well, look, it`s a pinch-me moment, you know. Am I really here? Is this really happening? You sort of think you`re going to wake up from the dream, and you have to sort of take a breath and say, OK, I`m on the bottom. Now here`s what I have to do next and next.
And so, you know, I got -- I got busy. You know, I took my contingency sample and switched my sonar on and started looking around. And at a certain point I said, you know what, just stop. Just stop the vehicle and just take a look out the window with your own eyes.
I had to just take a moment and kind of bear witness and feel the weight of the water over my head, you know, seven miles of it, and think, wow, what a remarkable -- what a remarkable moment in my life, and what a remarkable place to be for any human being.
CARROLL: I think it`s also a lesson in just how precious life is and how it still finds a way even in the most harshest of environments.
CAMERON: Well, exactly. Life finds a way. You know, and I`ve seen that at the hydrothermal vents where you see animals like shrimp and tubeworms living right up next to jets of water that are hot enough to melt lead. And you see life adapting.
But you know, of course, the funny part is here I am as far away from kind of our day-to-day world as one can imagine, short of literally being on the moon or on Mars. And I get a call from my wife, Suzy, who has commandeered the acoustic communication system and called me on the bottom of the ocean.
So let that be a lesson to all men. It doesn`t matter how far away you go, your wife`s going to find you.
CARROLL: Even though Challenger Deep was a desolate place, did you find any source of inspiration?
CAMERON: I think it`s good and healthy for us to always be pushing the boundaries and pushing outward. I mean, I think we should be exploring the planets. I think we should be sending people to Mars and so on. And I think there is inspiration in that, in knowing our place in the universe.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Thanks, Jason, CNN`s Jason Carroll for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.
And early box office estimates say the re-release of "Titanic" in 3-D could bring in as much as 25 million bucks this weekend alone, and that`s more than it cost to convert to 3-D, about $10 million less than that.
That`s is it for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m A. J. Hammer. You can catch SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusively weeknights, 11:00 pm Eastern and Pacific, right here on HLN.
