THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

A.J. HAMMER, HOST: Tonight, when stars fight back. Alec Baldwin speaks out to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT about his scuffle with a photographer. So was he an aggressor or was he just protecting himself.

And does this rank as one of the most sensational star smack-downs of all- time? We`re counting them down right now.

(MUSIC)

HAMMER: Hello, I`m A.J. Hammer. Tonight, leave Britney alone. A video on YouTube launched Chris Crocker into viral video stardom.

And now, the guy behind the leave Britney alone campaign is making a new name for himself with a dramatic new documentary.

But first tonight, when stars fight back. Alec Baldwin standing his ground over a run-in with a photographer. Now, Alec says the guy lunged at him almost hitting Alec with the camera. And now, Alec is falling for change.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ALEC BALDWIN, ACTOR: I don`t see the purpose of those things other than to embarrass people, you know. Most of the paparazzi have their foot out to trip you. They want you to fall on the ground and they want to get that shot.

They want you to pick your nose and get that shot. They want you to - they want to provoke you or catch you. They`re not there to make you look good. The paparazzi are never there to make you look good.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Now, the photographer - well, he has a different story. Watch what the "New York Daily News" photographer, Marcus Santos said on "Good Morning America" today.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MARCUS SANTOS, PHOTOGRAPHER: I saw him come out of the porch and was starting to take his picture. Next thing I saw, he was going after the other photographer.

I said, (UNINTELLIGIBLE). I look at him, say, "Don`t touch him." And next thing I saw, he looks at me and comes straight to me and I don`t have time to react.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: This really comes down to a classic case of he said/he said. Alec`s street corner scuffle has us digging into our SHOWBIZ archives for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s top five epic paparazzi star showdowns.

The anger, the drama, the sheer emotion that, in some cases, were almost more volatile than anything else that stars have done on the big screen. Tonight, we`re counting down the most sensational star smack-downs. The question is, which is the most dramatic of them all?

Right now in New York, TV personality Ross Matthews and the host of the "Shine" on Yahoo, Alesha Renee. Great to see both of you. Thanks for being here.

ALESHA RENEE, HOST, "SHINE": Hi. Great to see you.

HAMMER: Well, let`s start with number five, shall we? We`ve got to talk about Alec Baldwin. He comes in at the number five spot.

This year, Alec got tossed off a flight for refusing to end that "Words with Friends" game. We remember that. He went on a Twitter rampage against photographers who tried to get a picture of his fiancee`s engagement ring.

And now this - he`s accused of allegedly attacking his photographer. OK, Ross, break it down. Alec told SHOWBIZ TONIGHT he feels provoked in these situations. Are you team Alec on this one or feel kind of bad for the photographer who wasn`t even a paparazzo?

ROSS MATTHEWS, TV PERSONALITY: Here`s the deal. It must be very difficult. Alec Baldwin seems to have a lot of problems with the paparazzi business. He`s got a pretty fiancee, a yoga instructor.

Why is he so frustrated? There`s so much anger in there. He has such a wonderful life. I want him to be happy. Now, listen, we make fun of famous people a lot and say, like, it was part of the job.

But I mean, he makes some points. When I saw he was interviewed there, do paparazzi really try to trip the stars? That would be annoying.

RENEE: Yes, they do.

HAMMER: Yes. I mean, we see what goes on. They crowd around sometimes. They sometimes do try to provoke certain situations. What do you think in this case, Alesha? Are you on team Alec here?

RENEE: I`m definitely team Alec. I think that when you have a celeb who is very vocal about his disdain for paparazzi, you know, that makes him an easy target.

You know, the guy in question - actually, he makes it in Alec`s favor when he says Alec asked the paparazzi to step back.

And then started swinging so it kind of gives the impression that he asked for his space, his space was not given so he had to protect himself and whoever was with him.

MATTHEWS: I like Alec that they try to catch him picking his nose, like they try to get him to pick his nose.

HAMMER: Oh, yes. They`re ready for the pick, which sometimes can be a scratch as we all know, but you get accused of the pick.

Let`s move on to the number four spot on our most sensational star smack down list. America`s sweetheart goes ballistic. Now, this happened back in 2007. Julia Roberts was understandably, in my mind, so enraged about photographers taking pictures of her kids after following her to their school.

So she jumped in her car and she chased down the paparazzo. That`s just classic. When he finally pulled over, Julia gave him a piece of her mind.

And another beautiful star, Halle Berry, put through the same type of hell battling to protect her child from a photog`s lens. This happened just last month.

Halle was caught on camera giving someone the business. Her smack-down ranks as number three on our most sensational smack-downs list.

Now, Ross, Julie and Halle are moms. They`re protecting their young kids. They didn`t get as violent as Alec allegedly did. But do you feel that Julia or Halle or any other star for that matter, does have the right to just get up in anyone`s face like that when the kids are involved? I think they do.

MATTHEWS: I think they do, too. I think, you know, kids are a different story. I will cut you. If you ever mess with - I have a Maltipoo and a Chihuahua. And I will cut you if you come after them.

You know, there`s this parental instinct that comes in. You can`t blame Halle and you can`t blame Julia for fighting back to protect their kids. You can`t.

HAMMER: Yes, Alesha, you right there?

RENEE: I agree wholeheartedly. You know, Ross, I love you, by the way.

MATTHEWS: Thank you, honey.

RENEE: You know, mama bear would always come out swinging.

HAMMER: I love that he has a Maltipoo.

RENEE: Right. And the Maltipoo. You know, I have a lab, you know.

MATTHEWS: All right. 0

RENEE: So I definitely have your back on that one. Yes, you know, you have to protect the children. They didn`t ask to be born to parents who are celebs, so I think you should respect the privacy especially when children are there.

HAMMER: All right. Let us move on to really - I think the man who got it all started, at number two, this is the guy who put the smack in smack- down. It`s Sean Penn.

And it all started back in the mid-1980s. Sean Penn was married to Madonna. Remember that? Yes, some people may not know that that happened, but it did for a time.

One notorious incident happened when Sean and Madonna filming "Shanghai Surprise." And as legend has it, Sean returned to his hotel room in China one night and found a photographer right there waiting for him.

Well, Sean allegedly grabbed the guy and listen to this, dangled him by the ankles from a ninth floor balcony. Totally outrageous to be sure, but there`s one common threat here. Stars go off when they`re trying to protect their loved ones.

That said, with Oscars, fame, millions, also comes the paparazzi, Ross. So do you think some stars need to step back, chill out, back off the paparazzi and accept, you know what, it`s part of the gig and the life?

MATTHEWS: You know, I don`t know. It kind of bugs me when stars get so annoyed by the paparazzi like I said earlier. But something like Sean Penn - I like that he`s a two-time Oscar winner and he doesn`t give a bleep, you know what I mean?

He will just fight back if you mess with him. And that`s part of his appeal. With him, I give him a little card. He gets away with it, I think.

HAMMER: What do you think, Alesha? Because in some cases, it does seem like, you know what, the stars complain when this all goes down. But having witnessed it firsthand and seen really the maelstrom that can follow these celebrities when they`re trying to go about their lives, there`s a point when it crosses the line.

RENEE: It definitely does. I didn`t know Sean Penn had a little bit of (UNINTELLIGIBLE) that he`s dangling people over the rail. That`s a whole different story, you know.

But there are plenty of celebrities out there who actually call paparazzi and they solicit their attention that, you know, they can feed their appetite there and give the ones that, you know, would like a certain level of privacy their space. It`s give and take.

HAMMER: Yes. If I knew there was a chance that somebody was going to potentially think about dangling me from a ninth floor balcony, I would take my camera and go to a different hotel and stalk somebody else. Ross, Alesha, we`re almost at number one.

The question is, can you guess the most sensational star smack-down of them all? I`m going to give you a hint. It was a very close call, as close as a good shave.

But we move from the most sensational star smack-downs ever to the best viral videos of all time. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT counting down to the online fame. We`ve got all the classics tonight including this.

(MUSIC)

What do you think? Will Antoine Dodson take the top spot? It`s the must see SHOWBIZ viral video countdown. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

We`re so thrilled about the Daytime Emmy Awards this weekend on HLN. All the biggest daytime TV nominees talking to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT about just how thrilled they are to be in the running. Here now "The Young and the Restless" star, Genie Francis, who`s nominated for best supporting actress in a drama series.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

GENIE FRANCIS, ACTRESS: I was surprised when I won a few years back. I had waited such a long time to sort of be invited to the Emmy party. So the second one is just sort of icing on the cake. I feel like I already got my big win in a way.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Tonight, dumb move? Well, Jim Carrey has just revealed that he`s not interested in doing a sequel to legendary comedy, "Dumb and Dumber" because the studios are not excited enough about the idea.

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT juts caught up with his "Dumb and Dumber" co-star, Jeff Daniels. And Jeff is telling SHOWBIZ TONIGHT that he hasn`t given up hope there may be a sequel.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JEFF DANIELS, ACTOR: I`d love to do it. Jim would love to do it. We`re disappointed. The Farleys want to do it. Jim is the most disappointed of all. I haven`t talked to him, but all I know is we`d all love to do it. And my hope is tomorrow`s another day, but we`ll see.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes. I think we`d all love to see Jim and Jeff back together on the big screen again.

Here`s something else you`re going to want to wait to see. The most sensational star smack down of all-time, next.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Well, tonight, we`re counting down the most sensational star smack-downs. But which one is the most dramatic of them all?

Back with TV personality Ross Matthews, and host of the "Shine" on Yahoo Alesha Renee.

And let`s quickly run down our top four one more time. Alec Baldwin for his street corner freak-out earlier this week, Julia Roberts and Halle Berry are in at the number three and four spots.

Sean Penn, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s second most sensational star smack-down winner for, well, everything he did to photographers in the 1980s.

And now, on to the woman who tops the star smack down list is Britney spears at number one. One infamous night back in February 2007 - this one was weeks after she shaved her head - Britney went to town on a paparazzo`s car.

This was really the start of her very public meltdown. Ross, what do you think? Did we get it right with our number one most sensational star smack-down?

MATTHEWS: You absolutely got it right. I remember this moment clear as day. This was simultaneously so sad and so entertaining. Do you remember this?

I mean, it was just like, am I seeing what I - it`s like I saw a unicorn and you couldn`t believe it. It was unreal.

HAMMER: And we don`t want to make light of the issues that Britney has had to deal with.

MATTHEWS: No.

HAMMER: But this was an epic moment in pop culture history. And Britney blames the paps in part for your meltdown. Alesha, a big part of the reason stars fight back is because they feel so trapped and hunted, I imagine, and they just snap.

RENEE: There`s nothing worse than to feel that you can`t do ordinary things or that you kind of have to keep yourself in a structured box out of fear of, you know, people taking pictures at the wrong time when you`re just doing daily, you know, things.

You guys definitely hit the nail on the head with this particular one. It took every bit of me of restraint to not laugh out loud to hear Ross break this down.

MATTHEWS: Sorry.

RENEE: Because I do remember, you know.

MATTHEWS: But you have to give her props, don`t you? Look what she has done with this kind of comeback.

RENEE: Right.

MATTHEWS: Who would have thought she could have done that when that moment, with the umbrella -

HAMMER: Let`s all applaud for Britney Spears, how she turned this thing around. Come on. Well, it`s great to see you both, Ross Matthews, Alesha Renee, thank you both so much.

If you`re in San Francisco, see Ross this weekend at Macy`s Union Square to celebrate San Francisco pride. Great seeing you. Have fun this weekend, Ross.

MATTHEWS: Thank you. Good to see you.

HAMMER: Well, right now, it`s SHOWBIZ at the daytime Emmys. Tonight, Wayne Brady, the real deal. Is there anything this guy can`t do?

He`s a comedian. He`s an actor. He`s a singer. He`s a dancer. Most recently, he`s the supercharged host of "Let`s Make a Deal."

Now, Wayne thinks all of his talents have really led him to this great deal. And on Saturday night, well, he`s looking to add yet another Daytime Emmy to his trophy case for his hard work.

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Nischelle Turner is on location with Wayne at his L.A. home. They`re talking deals, daytime and behind-the-scenes game show drama.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

NISCHELLE TURNER, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Here`s the real deal, folks. "Let`s Make a Deal" is up for its first ever Daytime Emmy award as outstanding game show.

And Wayne Brady is Emmy-nominated a third time for outstanding host. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you this wild and sometimes unpredictable show, which has been on and off the air for decades, could make a big splash at the Daytime Emmy Awards.

WAYNE BRADY, HOST, "LET`S MAKE A DEAL": I think now people recognize the fact that the show is actually a show.

TURNER: Brady, who served as host for three seasons, comes from an acting background. Audiences may remember his off-the-cuff, unscripted and improvisational work on "Whose Line Is It Anyway?"

The deal-making host recently invited SHOWBIZ TONIGHT to his Los Angeles home and told us how he found himself wheeling and dealing with the contestants.

BRADY: I`m not a game show host. I`m an actor who is an improvisational cat and fun and musical and whatnot. So I don`t go into the role going, "All right. Welcome to `Let`s Make a Deal." I`m like, "I am just going to be me."

TURNER (on camera): But that improv background had to be like - helped you so much in this role?

BRADY: Oh, well, that`s why they knocked on my door, you know, because I don`t think they wanted just a host. I`m right in the middle of this cacophony of madness.

Banana - I want a banana.

TURNER: Madness, sometimes downright bananas as hopeful audience members come dressed up in some eye-popping costumes.

BRADY: Whoopee cushion. Whoopee cushion.

TURNER: Are those the costumes - you get those costumes a lot where you`re like, "Can`t show that."

BRADY: Every day.

TURNER: Too much.

BRADY: Oh, yes.

TURNER: Too risky.

BRADY: You should have pants on, on the show. Next. Curtain one.

TURNER: First time I watched this show, I said, this is the craziest show I have ever seen in my life.

BRADY: I say that every day. I say that as I am in the middle of it. If you ever look at my eyes, really - I`m just going, "Oh, my gosh." But it`s fun.

I`m taking the curtain.

TURNER (voice-over): It`s not fun for everyone as many wide-eyed contestants end up on the wrong side of a deal and go home with some absurd prizes.

BRADY: It is a monster van. It has wheels.

TURNER (on camera): Do you ever cringe or feel for people when they give all their money and they get like the rubber ducky?

BRADY: This is going to sound cold, but as a rule, no. And I`ll tell you why - because it is a game. So when someone gives up something, I`m saying, "This is in your face." I know, Wayne. That could be a car.

And then we open it up. There is a rubber donkey battling with Godzilla in mud. I have to go, "Hey, enjoy."

Congratulations.

TURNER (voice-over): It`s those enjoyable moments Brady tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT that caught the attention of the Television Academy.

BRADY: If you tune in to any random time, you will see something happening where we`re breaking piggy banks, cash being spilled out of that. There`s an ape over here.

All you know is that it is good and there is nothing like it in daytime. That`s why the show was nominated.

Door one!

TURNER: And in the end, isn`t it an honor just to be nominated?

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Yes, but of course, nothing is as good as holding that golden statue in your hands. We`re going to see if Wayne finally wins when the 39th Annual Daytime Emmys air live right here on HLN.

Can`t wait. It`s going to be so much fun, Saturday, 8:00 p.m. Eastern already. I`m going to be right there on the red carpet hanging with your favorite daytime stars. We have a special edition of SHOWBIZ TONIGHT you`ve got to catch beginning at 7:00 p.m. Eastern here on HLN. And make sure you watch the Daytime Emmy Awards live, Saturday at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on HLN.

And we`re doing our own dramatic competition tonight right here on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. It`s SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s top viral videos of all-time and who can forget this?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CHRIS CROCKER, BRITNEY SPEARS FAN: Leave Britney alone! Please.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes. That`s the teen who became an overnight sensation back in 2007 after begging people to leave Britney Spears alone. Did this emotional plea grab our number one slot? The man in that video, Chris Crocker, is right here. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

Just two days until the Daytime Emmy Awards on HLN. Right now, Julianne Moore tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT about her turn on daytime TV on the soap "As the World Turns."

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JULIANNE MOORE, ACTRESS: I loved working on "As the World Turns." There are wonderful people on show, great crew, wonderful actors. It was really quite an experience for me. So I have a lot of nostalgia from my daytime show.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: It certainly seems like Kristen Stewart is on top of the world these days. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT just revealed that she`s the highest paid actress in Hollywood.

"Forbes" magazine says she raked in $35 million last year. Kristen can thank the "Breaking Dawn" franchise for that fortune.

And tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is your first look at the epic conclusion to the "Twilight" saga. I can tell you this brand-new footage of "Breaking Dawn" part two is incredible. Kristin looks better and badder than ever.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KRISTEN STEWART, ACTRESS: After 18 years of being utterly ordinary, I finally felt I could shine. I was born to be a vampire.

ROBERT PATTINSON, ACTOR: You`re so beautiful. We`re the same temperature now.

TAYLOR LAUTNER, ACTOR: I didn`t expect you to seem so - you?

UNIDENTIFIED ACTRESS: I have to report a crime. The Collins - they`ve done something terrible.

PATTINSON: Our daughter.

STEWART: She was born, not bitten. She grows every single day.

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: Oh, my.

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: Maintaining our secret has never been more imperative.

PATTINSON: What is it?

UNIDENTIFIED ACTRESS: Volturi - they`re coming for us.

PATTINSON: If enough people knew the truth, maybe we (UNINTELLIGIBLE) to listen. My family`s in danger. I need your help.

LAUTNER: We`ll join you.

UNIDENTIFIED ACTRESS: We will stand with you.

LAUTNER: A lot of red eyes around here.

STEWART: I`ll never let anybody hurt you.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: I can`t wait. "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part Two" hits theaters on November 16th.

Now, the SHOWBIZ lineup. Coming up at the bottom of the hour on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT - it`s SHOWBIZ at the Daytime Emmys.

Tonight, a look at the soaps` hottest young actors. They`re bringing a whole new generation of viewers to daytime TV drama.

We`re talking with two of the most talented young stars out there, Molly Burnett and Chandler Massey from "Days of Our Lives." They reveal everything about their big Emmy nominations in a must-see newsmaker interview. This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(MUSIC)

HAMMER: Big news breaking tonight on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT - countdown to the best viral videos of all-time. So which viral sensation will be number one? Will SHOWBIZ TONIGHT name the man of bed intruder fame, Antoine Dodson the number one viral sensation of all time?

It`s the days of their young lives. Tonight, the young stars of daytime`s biggest soaps are making a big splash at the Daytime Emmys.

"Days of our Lives" stars Molly Burnett and Chandler Massey are right here to talk about their big nominations in a must-see SHOWBIZ newsmaker interview.

ANNOUNCER: TV`s most provocative entertainment news show continues right now.

HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT and thank you for watching. Tonight, leave Britney alone.

Chris Crocker became an overnight sensation five years ago when his video in defense of Britney Spears became one of the most popular online videos of all time.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CROCKER: She`s going through a custody battle. All you people care about is readers and making money off of her. She`s a human!

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Wow. Good times. That was back in 2007, and that`s when Britney Spears was admittedly going through a tough time herself.

Well, flash forward to today and Chris is back. Only this time, he`s turned the camera on his own life for a brand new documentary. It`s going to be featured on HBO called "Me at the Zoo." Chris Crocker joining me from New York. Thanks for being here, Chris.

CROCKER: Thank you for having me.

HAMMER: Absolutely. After all those years and all that time that we got to play your video online, it`s great to finally meet you. And you called this documentary "Me at the Zoo."

You`re basically referencing the first video that was ever uploaded on YouTube all the way back in 2005. Do you kind of feel like you`ve lived your life at the zoo in some respects, putting your life on display the way you did and the way you are now?

CROCKER: Absolutely. You know, a lot of people don`t realize I did videos two years before the Britney video and had a cult following before that. And continued to do so even after and a film for a reality show that failed, and et cetera, et cetera.

And it`s really exciting that now, like, the HBO documentary is happening. It gets to show all that that`s happened during that. So -

HAMMER: It has to be really exciting for you. And in the documentary, you`re very candid. You talk about being bullied as a kid, being home schooled under the very watchful eyes of your grandmother. Let`s watch a bit of that.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CROCKER: Everyone thought it was best for me to be homeschooled.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The guidance counselor called me and she said, "I`m afraid for Chris, even for the KKK." I believe that`s how she said it.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: I have to imagine it wasn`t easy, but you put yourself out there on YouTube. Now, you`ve done it with this documentary. What are you hoping people get out of this documentary of your life?

CROCKER: Well, first of all, I want to say my grandmother`s watching and she watches this show every single night, so she`s probably freaked out you guys just showed that.

HAMMER: Hi, grandma.

CROCKER: Hi, grandma. She literally loves this show, you guys and Nancy Grace. I wanted to say that first. And secondly, it was really tough during that time, you know. I dropped out of school in eighth grade. I`m from a really small town.

And that`s why I started videos because it was my only outlet. I had no friends, no one to turn to. And like I said, I`d been doing videos long before Britney and it was just my only way to sort of feel listened to. So -

HAMMER: Well, it`s amazing to have watched you. "Leave Britney Alone" certainly made its mark. But the question is, where does it fall in our SHOWBIZ countdown today of the top five viral videos?

Let`s see. Let`s get right to number five. It`s not you, Chris. It`s Antoine Dodson`s "Hide Your Kids, Hide Your Wife."

You remember this guy. He`s from Huntsville, Alabama. He did an interview with a local NBC station about his sister being assaulted in her own bed.

His account of the incident was auto-tuned and the rest is history. Let`s watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ANTOINE DODSON, BROTHER OF ASSAULT VICTIM: Well, obviously we have a rapist in Lincoln Park.

(MUSIC)

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: That`s just amazing how that thing took off. I want to bring in TV host Alesha Renee. Alesha, this was a story that ended up getting really twisted from the serious, serious story that it was.

I can`t imagine that anyone, much less Antoine Dodson, expected the outcome that it had. Did the buzz over this video surprise you?

RENEE: The buzz of the video definitely surprised me. You know, the video, especially when you see the video. I think it just came at a time where, you know, times are really, really hard.

And like you said, it`s a very serious situation. But people kind of need a little reprieve. And you know, it was a - I hope lighthearted way, you know, like I said, to not take away from how serious the event was.

But sometimes you have to add humor to situations that are very hard to deal with.

HAMMER: Yes, and I think it certainly had a cultural impact.

RENEE: Obviously.

HAMMER: Well, coming in as number four in our SHOWBIZ countdown of top viral videos, "Charlie Bit My Finger." You know, when fun and games turn from fun to pain. Let`s watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE CHILD: Charlie. Charlie bit me. Ouch. Ouch! Ouch, Charlie! Ouch! Charlie, that really hurt.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Charlie, what are you thinking? That is just beautiful. Makes me smile every time. More than 460,000 hits on that viral video.

Let`s roll right into number three. It`s our SHOWBIZ countdown of the top viral videos. The talking dog who is taunted by the treasures inside the refrigerator. Look at this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I went back to the fridge just a few minutes ago, and I put something together really special. You`re going to love this one. I took some chicken. I put some - yes, put some cheese on it. And I covered it with -

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Covered it with what?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Covered it with cat treats.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Then guess what?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I gave it to the cat.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Ah!

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: I mean, I`m just a huge dog lover. Alesha, you know, there are so many cute kid and pet videos online. Why do you think these are the ones that get the most attention?

RENEE: First of all, look at Charlie`s cheeks, the big chunky cheeks. I want to chew his face. I mean, you know, we love babies. I mean, who doesn`t? I love my dog, chili. Lord knows I`ve made video clips of him, myself. They just make us smile. Look at that face.

HAMMER: Look at that face. I know, exactly. All right. We have to get to it. Number two on our SHOWBIZ countdown of the top viral videos. It`s a classic. I want to roll it out for you right now, "Leave Britney Alone."

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CROCKER: What you don`t realize is that Britney`s making you all this money and all you do is write a bunch of crap about her. She hasn`t performed on stage in years. Leave Britney alone! Please.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: You know, Chris Crocker did that video. He`s with us tonight, as you see. And Chris, I have to say, in addition to getting a lot of attention online, I actually think it had an impact, and people stopped paying so much attention to Britney in a bad kind of way.

But did you ever think in your wildest dreams - 43 million views? Did you think it would become so viral?

CROCKER: I mean, a lot of people still to this day think that that video is, like, funny and a joke, but my mom is a drug addict and I just relate with women going through a hard time.

I, honestly, I just made it - it wasn`t like in hopes of in the background - oh, I hope this or that. Even though I had a sense of humor at the time and I was playing up to this character, that video is very genuine.

And I just - you know, I`m defensive of any women going through a hard time. It was genuine. I never wanted anything from it other than to let people know she still had fans. So -

HAMMER: You know, I`m happy to know that it did come from the heart because it came across that way, and I know a lot of people questioned that, so good on you for that.

But the question now is, which viral video lands in our top spot on our countdown of the most viral videos? Chris Crocker, Alesha Renee, don`t go anywhere.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is counting down the most viral videos. And we`re now heading into the final stretch - our pick for the number one viral video.

Back with me now, Chris Crocker, who created the number two viral video, "Leave Britney Alone," and TV host, Alesha Renee.

So what is our number one viral video on our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT countdown? It is Justin Bieber before he was the megastar that he is today.

You know, you can`t ignore this. Bieber`s online video singing Chris brown`s hit song "With You" has more than 40 million hits. Watch.

(MUSIC)

HAMMER: You know, this made him a star. He was discovered on YouTube after his homemade recordings of him singing, strumming the guitar got his now-manager Scooter Braun`s attention, got Usher`s attention.

Chris, let me ask you. Is becoming a viral video star really today`s new formula for stardom in some ways?

CROCKER: You know, it`s really hard to be a viral video star these days because YouTube is kind of becoming a very corporate thing where the front page is like, you know, the Disney Channel.

So it`s really hard to just have, like, an organic grassroots video the way it was before. So good luck to anybody that`s trying to do it like we did it. So -

HAMMER: Yes, it`s a new day since you and Bieber got on board. But Alesha, it`s certainly an important thing to try if you want to be a star, isn`t it?

RENEE: It definitely is. Our culture is very much still moving to online, so I definitely think it`s possible to be a YouTube star sensation, you know, especially when you integrate it in with Facebook and Twitter media, you know. It`s the quickest way to get yourself out there.

HAMMER: Not shutting down any time soon, no question about that. Chris Crocker knows that for sure. Alesha Renee, Chris, great to see you both. Thank you so much.

As we move on, SHOWBIZ at the Daytime Emmys. Daytime TV has always been at the forefront of dealing with important social issues.

I think soaps do a terrific job of creating stories for the younger characters, focusing now on bullying, pregnancy and even sexuality. Let`s watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CHANDLER MASSEY: I`m gay. I said it and, you know, this time, no fakesies. I`m not going to take it back.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: That is Chandler Massey. I just spoke with Chandler along with Molly Burnett. They`re both up for Emmys in the Outstanding Younger Actor and Actress categories for their work on "Days of Our Lives."

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

(on camera) Chandler and Molly, it`s great to have you both here.

MASSEY: It`s great to be here.

MOLLY BURNETT, ACTRESS: Thank you.

HAMMER: Thank you for joining us today. And Chandler, we just watched this pretty powerful scene from "Days of Our Lives," of your character, Will, coming out to his grandmother played by the great Deidre Hall, Marlena.

I know it has to be a huge acting challenge, playing this role. But it also comes with social responsibility, doesn`t that? This is the show`s first gay character in its 47 years which I find amazing.

MASSEY: Yes. I agree. And I think every character has social responsibility. You know, I mean, as an actor, I feel like you have responsibility to be true to your character and make it as realistic as possible.

But especially since, I guess this character is the first character to come out on the show, and it`s, I think, a really - it`s the first time the story`s been told and they`ve given it a lot of thought. And I think, you know, I shouldn`t screw it up -

(CROSS TALK)

HAMMER: Yes. As a result, you know, it`s so important. It seems like you`re doing great work with the LGBT community as a result of playing this character.

And I think there are so many people watching and looking at what this character is going through and saying they can relate to it or they know people that can relate to it. I think that`s huge.

Now, Molly, your character, in the four years you`re on the show. You found your biological mother. You were married and divorced. You were shot and survived that.

BURNETT: On my wedding day, by my mom.

HAMMER: Very - what is it on soaps that everybody`s getting shot all the time? It`s that scene -

MASSEY: If you get shot, you never die though. You can get shot (UNINTELLIGIBLE) head. But if you fall down the stairs or fall down an elevator shaft, you`re done.

BURNETT: Exactly.

MASSEY: You`re done.

BURNETT: My best friend, Ari, got hit by a car kind of and she was dead. And yet, E.J., who`s been shot in the head -

MASSEY: Pointblank.

BURNETT: At pointblank, and he`s still -

HAMMER: Still kicking around?

BURNETT: And fully able to function.

HAMMER: Those are the fun story lines, aren`t they?

BURNETT: Oh, my gosh. So much fun. The most fun is playing a bad character, a bad girl.

HAMMER: That`s what everyone tells me. There are so many characters that go from bad to good. And actors tell me, "I wish it would have stayed bad."

BURNETT: You`ve got to stay redeemable, though, man, because if you`re always bad, then you`re going to be annoying. Everything has to come from a true place, you know.

Everything you do is for something. So as long as you portray that, you can be bad or good or whatever. But being bad is definitely fun.

HAMMER: Well, for each of you, it`s your second daytime Emmy nomination, looking for a big win. And it`s a big deal, isn`t it?

MASSEY: I think so, too. I mean, it`s always nice to be recognized for the work that you do. Yes. It`s great.

BURNETT: Yes. Absolutely. We`re in great company. The other nominees, great company. Just exciting. It`s so cool.

HAMMER: I wish you both best of luck and I`ll look for you on the red carpet Saturday night.

BURNETT: Sounds good. Thank you very much.

MASSEY: Thank you.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

HAMMER: Tonight, the secrets of daytime TV. The love, the drama, the tears. That of course is what makes the world of daytime television go round and round and round and round.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED ACTRESS: No! No!

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Oh, the drama. So what exactly does it take to do a scene like that? What about those romantic candle lit love scenes? We want to know what really happens on the set of our favorite soaps.

Who better to ask than Alicia who played Kendall Hart on "All My Children" and Sean Kanan, better known, of course, as Deacon Sharpe on "The Bold and The Beautiful."

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

Alicia, let`s get right into that, because it always blows me away when I see - and in that scene, your character was crying over her husband who just died.

ALICIA MINSHEW, ACTRESS: Her husband - yes. Yes.

HAMMER: How in the world - really, how do you do that?

MINSHEW: Well, first of all, watching it, I`m going, that is very dramatic. You know, honestly, I`m an emotional person, anyway, and I think, as an actor, we`re emotional people, and I just sort of - I just went there.

I said, you know what? This is a sad situation. This woman lost her husband, the father of her children. And I just go to a quiet place and I go there.

HAMMER: Seriously, it wasn`t like a water gun in your face or anything like that?

MINSHEW: No, no. I personally could not do that, because once there - once I`m in it, I`m in it.

HAMMER: No kidding.

SEAN KANAN, ACTOR: That`s so much deeper than what I do. I just close my eyes for a second and I think about how much money Maurice Benard makes.

HAMMER: Of course, Sonny from "General Hospital" -

KANAN: And I think about what I make, and the tears just come. I don`t even have to pull my eyelashes.

HAMMER: I don`t believe you for a moment. But what I want to know from you, Sean - because we see so many steamy, sexy love scenes that you do.

And look, I want to know what the real story is, because we`re always hearing from actors, "Oh, it`s all technical and there`s all the people around and the lighting and the cameras and the angles." But the point of acting is you really have to feel something, isn`t it?

KANAN: Not if you wear multiple pairs of underwear, which I do, which helps out a lot. No, you know, the truth is we all just sleep together, A.J. And I find that really helps facilitate -

HAMMER: You`re not helping me. These are the secrets -

KANAN: No. You know what? After a while - I mean, it sounds silly, but you work with these people every day. Everyone is a professional, and frankly, everyone wants to be done with the scenes as quickly as you can, doing them well. They`re not the most comfortable - yes.

HAMMER: Is it awkward that you actually laugh your way through some of the takes?

KANAN: Yes. It`s different sometimes.

MINSHEW: At times. It depends on the person, right? There are some people you`re closer with. Sometimes you laugh your way through. Other times, you just want to have fun.

KANAN: Exactly.

HAMMER: Your character started as a bad girl turned to good girl.

MINSHEW: Yes.

HAMMER: And I hear from so many actors that they really prefer playing the bad character. For you, Alicia, was that true?

MINSHEW: Yes, it`s so much more fun. You know why? You get to be nice every day in your life. I mean, kind of nice. But you get to do things when you`re a bad girl that you wouldn`t get to do in real life, so I think it`s interesting.

HAMMER: So many secrets from how this all really happens. And I know some things are played a little close to the vest to maintain the mystique.

KANAN: True.

HAMMER: But Sean, tell us, what is one of the big secrets of daytime TV that you think would just surprise everybody? You`ve got to spill it for me.

KANAN: Well, I think the first thing is that we don`t use teleprompters, you know, and we really get only one take. I mean, I don`t know how it is in your show, but you know, the environment has changed so much.

It`s become so competitive, and it`s so important that we`re able to turn out what we do quickly -

HAMMER: Yes.

KANAN: And basically at a price.

HAMMER: You have to crank it out.

KANAN: But frankly, you know, as long as you don`t bump into the furniture, it`s going on the air. And I say that with all due respect to everyone in our profession -

HAMMER: Yes.

MINSHEW: Yes.

KANAN: Because you know, we have to memorize 40, 50 pages of dialogue.

HAMMER: I don`t understand that at all. Let me go back to my teleprompter and say, "Thank you, Alicia and Sean."

(END VIDEOTAPE)
