A.J. HAMMER, HLN HOST, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT: Tonight, "A Real Showbiz Mystery".

A legendary director jumps off of a bridge to his death sending shock waves through Hollywood and beyond. Now his loved ones search for answers and the stars that knew him share their emotional reactions.

Hello. I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.

Tonight, the "Showbiz Countdown"; Kim Kardashian should be celebrating her first wedding anniversary with Kris Humphries today. Well instead, Kim and Kris are battling it out in divorce court to officially end their 72-day marriage.

Well tonight, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is counting down the top five reasons why we think Kim should not regret her marriage to Chris for even a moment.

But first, the "Showbiz Countdown" takes on Rihanna`s top three most shocking revelations to Oprah. Rihanna`s emotional confessions on Oprah`s "Next Chapter" last night have sparked a firestorm of controversy tonight. And at the center of this hot debate: Rihanna`s deeply personal revelations about her ex Chris Brown and the incident that quite frankly many people just cannot shake out of their heads that night three years ago when Brown brutally beat Rihanna.

Number three on the "Showbiz Countdown", Rihanna`s revelation that she actually felt protective of Chris right after the attack. Let`s watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

RIHANNA, SINGER: It became a circus and I felt protective. Like, I felt like -- the only person they hate right now is him. It was -- it was a weird, it was a weird, confusing space to be in because as angry as I was, as angry and hurt and betrayed I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help and, like, who`s going to help him?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Wow. Let me bring in celebrity publicist Marvet Brito of The Brito Agency. She`s with me in New York and with me from Hollywood tonight, actor and comedian Bill Bellamy. Bill is going to be performing at the San Jose Improv this Thursday through Sunday.

And Bill, let`s start with you here because Rihanna really set the record straight in a way we have not seen before. Did it surprise you at all that she opened up the way she did about Chris Brown?

BILLY BELLAMY, ACTOR & COMEDIAN: Well I think, yes. I mean I was waiting for that interview for a long time because we always wondered and speculated at exactly how she felt about it personally.

And I think Oprah really nailed it with, you know, her just sitting there feeling comfortable and talking about the relationship. I mean it`s still stuff that people don`t know. You know? But I`m happy that she was able to recover from it and Chris is recovering and they`re so young. I hope that it will eventually be something that`s in their past, not dictating their future.

HAMMER: Yes I agree with you and I really did get the impression watching this, Marvet that she really needed to get it out there and to say all these things.

BELLAMY: Yes.

HAMMER: But do you at all understand how she could feel so protective of Chris Brown the way she did right after the attack? That kind of shocked me.

MARVET BRITO, CELEBRITY PUBLICIST, THE BRITO AGENCY: Absolutely. Women are very motherly and this is a man clearly that she was in love with. That interview was a love letter to Chris Brown and Oprah being the oracle of media that she is really comforted Rihanna and created a nurturing atmosphere and she poured out her soul. It was the most truthful, genuine interview I have ever seen a celebrity do and she won a lot of fans.

BELLAMY: Yes.

BRITO: And the road to redemption clearly paved for both of them.

HAMMER: Well, I think she won some fans back for Chris Brown, maybe. I don`t know if that was her motivation but we know that Brown lost a lot of supporters after he abused Rihanna. A lot of fans just, you know, turned their back on him right away.

But that may change after this next confession, as well, from Rihanna. This takes us to number two on the countdown. She says "that in her eyes all has been forgiven". Let`s watch this together.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

RIHANNA: I thought I hated Chris and I realized it was love that was tarnished. He looked like hate because it was ugly. It was angry. It was enflamed. It was tainted. And I realize that what it was is I had to forgive him because I cared about him still. And the minute I let go of that, like, I started living again.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Wow. And you heard it. She`s over it. She forgives Chris. Most people will tell you though, they don`t get that.

Bill, do we need to just give Rihanna props for taking the high road and follow her lead or can you understand why you know some people might be sitting back and kind of shaking their heads at her?

BELLAMY: You know, you can`t worry about other people in this -- in this case. You have to really personalize it. I mean look at what she`s been through. She`s a mega star. It was a traumatic situation. And she had to find somewhere personally to be able to keep it moving. You know? And I`m sure Chris had to do the same.

I mean honestly, to be that young and that famous and have such a tragic incident happen, I mean they probably didn`t know they were that big at the time either, you know.

HAMMER: Yes.

BELLAMY: Can you imagine being that young and that famous and something bad happens? I mean oh my goodness. I would -- I would go out to say that they`re still in love. I would -- I would go out to say that they probably still love each other and there are so many people out there that still love people that they shouldn`t love.

HAMMER: Yes.

BELLAMY: I mean that`s just how life is.

HAMMER: And -- and to that point, you know, Oprah did go on to ask Rihanna if she`s moved on with her life or if there still is a place for Chris and this takes us to number one on our countdown.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

OPRAH WINFREY, TALK SHOW HOST: What happens when you see him?

RIHANNA: It`s awkward. It`s awkward because I still love him. You know?

WINFREY: Does your heart do this -- does your heart do that thing?

RIHANNA: My stomach drops.

WINFREY: Yes.

RIHANNA: Yes. And I have to maintain this poker face and --

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: You know, Marvet I hear that and I wonder could this be Rihanna`s way of preparing the public for what may be to come, maybe a more public relationship that she has with Chris?

BRITO: Absolutely. It was a crafty interview in that way. She stated when Oprah asked her the question, he`s in a relationship, which was the only reason she didn`t say we`re back together.

HAMMER: Wow. All right. We`ll leave it there. But thank you both for your insight -- Marvet Brito and Bill Bellamy. And Bill is going to be performing at the San Jose Improv Thursday through Sunday. His Showtime special "Crazy, Sexy, Dirty", that on DVD right now.

And we move on now to Hollywood in crisis. So when news broke that Kristen Stewart cheated on Robert Pattinson, think about it, it not only ignited a worldwide crisis among fans but pretty likely a massive panic behind the scenes of the next "Twilight" film. I mean imagine how do you put these two stars on screen together and sell a vampire love story now.

And what about Whitney Houston`s shocking death? Her last film "Sparkle" squeezed in to the top five of the box office this weekend but without its biggest star to promote the film.

Tonight we investigate what happens when Hollywood comes face-to-face with the unexpected. It happens a whole lot more than you might think.

Here`s SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`S Kareen Wynter.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KAREEN WYNTER, HLN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): It`s likely Hollywood will one day make a movie about the life of Whitney Houston. But what about the movie the star had just finished shooting when she died?

WHITNEY HOUSTON, SINGER, ACTRESS: I know you all don`t love each other that much.

DEBRA MARTIN CHASE, PRODUCER, "SPARKLE": Inevitably there`s that first question of well, are we going to change anything?

WYNTER: Houston`s sudden passing left studio execs and filmmakers like producer Debra Martin Chase scrambling for answers about the film`s release date and its script.

CHASE: There are a couple of lines in the movie that in -- in light of the events you hear them and you`re like, oh my god, I can`t believe she`s saying that.

HOUSTON: Was my life not enough of a cautionary tale for you?

CHASE: The world was asking where we going to speed up the release of the movie?

JASON SQUIRE, CINEMATIC ARTS PROFESSOR: Second thought is all hands on deck.

WYNTER: Cinematic arts professor Jason Squire.

BIANCA GOODLOE, ENTERTAINMENT LAWYER: Oh yes, all the time.

WYNTER: And entertainment lawyer Bianca Goodloe agrees "Sparkle" is part of an unfortunate trend in Hollywood. Feature films requiring crisis management.

GOODLOE: You really need to repackage them and repurpose them in a way that is not going to continue to put off audiences.

WYNTER: Like earlier this year when neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman shot and killed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin.

SQUIRE: Changing the title "The Watch" that used to be "Neighborhood Watch" because it`s simply inappropriate after the headlines.

WYNTER: And even more recently in July when a gunman opened fire on a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" tragically that same audience was among the first to see a preview for another film which in a horrific coincidence showed mobsters shooting at theater patrons.

SQUIRE: In this case, they can move very quickly and they did. Removing the trailer for a gangster squad and shifting the release date of that movie.

WYNTER: Not only do studios want to react respectfully to an unexpected disaster they also have a bottom line to consider.

SQUIRE: You spend mountains of money, obscene amounts of money, so they have to take great care when this issue comes up.

HEATH LEDGER, ACTOR: Forgive me. But I --

WYNTER: Heath Ledger died while filming "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. Filmmakers were forced to cast additional actors to finish the movie.

Sometimes sensitive footage has to be removed like the World Trade Center scenes in "Spiderman" following 9/11 or pulling a movie from an entire country which happened to the tsunami thriller "Hereafter" following the Japanese disaster.

(on camera): Real life catastrophe is something Hollywood never expects but with more and more movies coming out every year and increasingly uncertain times, well studios should always be prepared.

GOODLOE: Keep everything in perspective. Give it time. Let it breathe and this too shall pass.

WYNTER (voice-over): As for "Sparkle" in the end no changes were made to the film`s content or release date.

CHASE: We just said no because she wouldn`t have wanted us to. This was the movie that she loved and she was passionate about.

WYNTER: A movie with its own set of challenges that Martin hopes moves audiences now that it`s in theaters.

HOUSTON: It makes me feel like I did something right.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: And that was SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`S Kareen Wynter.

Well, Kim Kardashian is well pass her crisis mode after her reality TV marriage unraveled in 72 days. Today would have been Kim and Kris Humphries` first wedding anniversary. That`s right, but instead of toasting each other, of course, they are getting ready to battle it out in divorce court.

But that`s ok because SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is counting down the top five reasons why Kim should not regret her over-the-top wedding. It`s the "Showbiz Countdown" "Kim`s Regret-Free Anniversary."

Plus, an unbelievable "Showbiz Mystery": he was a superstar and he didn`t even know it.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The man who lives the whole life in Detroit as a construction worker, really hard manual labor he doesn`t know that at the very same time he is more famous than Elvis Presley in another part of the world.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: This is an amazing story. Tonight: the big twist to this "Real-Life Showbiz Mystery". This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Now "Live with Kelly" and who? 59 different celebrities, 10 months -- so many personalities that sat next to Kelly Ripa on "Live with Kelly" since Regis left the show. But Kelly is finally ready to announce who is going to get the job as her permanent partner.

The big reveal is coming on September 4th. I cannot wait to see who gets that gig.

And coming up later, we are one-on-one with the star who plays Whitney Houston`s best friend in "Sparkle."

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TOM CRUISE, ACTOR: I feel the need.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The need for speed.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Who can forget that classic line? It`s from director Tony Scott`s "Top Gun". Sadly today we found out that the iconic action director shockingly took his own life.

Now a "Real Showbiz Mystery": Hollywood is reeling tonight after power house director Tony Scott who is Ridley Scott`s younger brother took his own life Sunday by jumping off a bridge in Los Angeles. Tony Scott has worked with some of Hollywood`s biggest stars over the last 30 years. He was the man behind "Top Gun", also "Days of Thunder" and the Denzel Washington thriller, "The Taking of Pelham 123." Scott was 68 years old and was reportedly suffering from an incurable disease.

Joining me right now Paul Dergarabedian.

Paul is the president of the Box Office Division at Hollywood.com. And Paul, this is one of those Hollywood tragedies that truly shocked all of us. I know movies are your life. You`ve been covering this guy for years.

PAUL DERGARABEDIAN, PRESIDENT HOLLYWOOD.COM, BOX OFFICE DIVISION: Right.

HAMMER: What was your reaction when you heard the news?

DERGARABEDIAN: Complete shock, just like everyone else and this is a director who`s a visionary. Who film buffs know is not just any ordinary run of the mill director. He has always created incredible, indelible images on screen. And to have a director who could make a movie like "Top Gun" and do something like "True Romance" -- "True Romance" shows the true depth of his talent and the diversity of his vision.

HAMMER: Yes.

DERGARABEDIAN: And I really love that about him. And you know, 1986 "Top Gun" comes out. That was the number one film released in that year. It took the world by storm. Really put Tom Cruise on the map. I mean, he had done "Risky Business" and other movies but this was the movie that defined the career of Tom Cruise, really. And set him off on that incredible path.

And all the other big stars wanted to work with Tony Scott because he makes you look good. He puts you in something that has a depth to it. Great scripts, great vision again, from this director.

HAMMER: You mentioned "True Romance" -- one of my favorite movies ever with the great Christian Slater --

DERGARABEDIAN: Yes, yes.

HAMMER: -- who I know loved working on that project with him and it`s interesting today --

(CROSSTALK)

DERGARABEDIAN: Yes.

HAMMER: -- as we`ve been talking about it because everyone knows Tony`s brother Ridley Scott`s name but Tony was this towering director in his own right.

DERGARABEDIAN: Right.

HAMMER: You`ve given enough -- as a bit of a sense of what a player he was. But how big of a powerhouse was he considered because he was so highly sought after.

DERGARABEDIAN: He was highly sought after. His movies in North America alone made over $ 1 billion collectively and I think this is a tremendous loss because it also think about it, 1986 is "Top Gun." So here we are almost 30 years later.

Tony Scott was just -- is just as relevant today as he was back then and to have that kind of -- you know continue that kind of relevance to the industry is pretty incredible and a very rare thing, indeed.

HAMMER: He`s really incredible of course we met his wife on the set of "Days of Thunder" movie.

DERGARABEDIAN: Yes, yes. It`s a huge loss.

HAMMER: Leaves her behind along with their twin sons. Thank you so much, Paul.

Let`s bring in SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Kareen Wynter right now who`s been following just a flood of celebrity reactions to Tony Scott`s death.

Kareen, what are stars who have worked with Tony Scott saying today?

WYNTER: Well, A.J., they are just really as devastated by a man who they say was such a great talent. Ron Howard, he tweeted, "No more Tony Scott movies. Tragic day."

And Tom Cruise who worked with Scott in "Top Gun", well, he just issued this statement to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT saying, "Tony was my dear friend and I will really miss him. He was a creative visionary whose mark on film is immeasurable."

And Nicole Kidman who starred in Scott`s 1990 movie "Days of Thunder" says "I`m so sad. I loved Tony and he was always so good to me. He will be deeply missed by so many of us that knew him."

Kyra Knightley who was in Scott`s 2005 movie "Domino" she issued a statement as well, saying, "Tony Scott was one of the most extraordinary, imaginative men I ever worked with. My thoughts go out to his family."

HAMMER: So much respect coming from Hollywood. I know the family is asking for privacy right now to deal with this enormous loss. Of course we hope the outpouring of concern really helps them in their healing.

WYNTER: Yes.

HAMMER: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Kareen Wynter. Thank you so much, Kareen.

Moving on to some very different news tonight --

I`m talking about Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries, first anniversary. Yes they are getting divorced but they are technically still married. So SHOWBIZ TONIGHT thinks that they should I don`t know, look on the bright side. We`ve got the most daring "Showbiz Countdown" yet -- "Kim`s Regret-Free Anniversary." We reveal the number one reason why Kim should be happy she married Kris Humphries.

This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Whitney`s "Sparkle"; millions of people around the country went to the movies over the weekend to say one final goodbye to the great Whitney Houston, going to see the final movie and labor of love "Sparkle".

Now all eyes were on Jordin Sparks who stars in the movie but some would argue that one of her co-stars really got the best gig in the whole film. Award-winning Gospel singer Tamela Mann got to play in every single one of her scenes with Whitney Houston and they also shared a lot of time off screen together, as well.

Tamela joins me in New York for a "Showbiz News Maker Interview". It`s great to meet you and have you here.

TAMELA MANN, ACTRESS, SINGER: It`s good to be here.

HAMMER: Congratulations on the movie being out there. You had a nice weekend with it. And this really was a great labor of love, as I mentioned, for Whitney Houston. You know it was such a personal project for her.

MANN: Yes it was.

HAMMER: What would you say this adds to the Whitney Houston legacy?

MANN: Oh, well for one that she`s going to be greatly missed. But I think this just adds to her -- everything that she`s done. Because I thought she did a wonderful job in her character and plus she was like executive producer of the movie. So it just to me just adds some more to it but just little bit more. We just have her for a little bit longer.

HAMMER: And even -- even though this was the first time you guys directly worked on a real project like this together, you`re both gospel stars -- you both come from the church and that background so I imagine you had so much in common.

Tell me about your favorite moment being on set with Whitney.

MANN: My favorite moment, actually, was with her, I started working on a CD and I had her to listen to a couple songs on there and she kind of gave me her input which was great for me because to get it from, you know, a mega-star --

HAMMER: Yes.

MANN: Which, you know, Whitney she was like, when you get to this part, just ride it, baby. Just take them on -- you know just take them on a ride.

HAMMER: I hear her voice when you say that by the way.

MANN: Yes I just, because it`s exactly how she did it we were in her trailer and I was like, man. But I was so inspired just for her to just take the time out. She was not s diva on the set. She was just so pleasant and wonderful to work with. Even with Jordin and all of us.

I mean, so inviting. So it was wonderful being with her.

HAMMER: And did you get the sense working on "Sparkle" together that she was hoping this was going to be the first of many more movies to come for her?

MANN: I did. I did because she did such a good job. I mean, no one ever knew that this was going to happen like it did but I thought she did so good and I was like, man, she is on her way back, you know, bringing everything together. She looked well. I mean, on the set, it was really incredible. It really was.

HAMMER: Well, it`s so nice to get your perspective and see a big smile come over your face when you talk about Whitney. Tamela it`s great to meet you and have you here.

MANN: Thank you.

HAMMER: Thank you so much.

MANN: Thank you.

HAMMER: And make sure you check out her in "Sparkle". of course, in theaters right now and get her tremendous album it`s called "Best Days". There it is, look how good you look right there.

MANN: Well, thank you.

HAMMER: It is available right now.

Well, here`s what`s coming up at the bottom of the hour on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Did you know? It`s the one-year anniversary of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries` big wedding day. Ok so the biggest TV wedding in history only lasted 72 days but SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is still saying that Kim`s got a lot to celebrate. I mean, think about it.

SHOWBIZ TONIGHT will be counting down the top five reasons that Kim should have a regret-free anniversary. We`re applauding and celebrating Kim and Kris tonight.

This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

HAMMER: Right now on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, it`s Kim Kardashian`s one-year wedding anniversary.

Ok. Now, we know she didn`t quite make it to the 365 days of wedded bliss but tonight we have got a great gift for Kim anyway. It`s the "Showbiz Countdown", "Kim`s Regret-Free Anniversary". We have got the top five reasons Kim should never ever regret her 72-day marriage.

"SHOWBIZ TONIGHT" continues right now.

Welcome back to "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT". And tonight, the "Showbiz Countdown", Kim`s regret-free anniversary. Now, look at your calendar. Or I`ll tell you. It`s exactly one year to the day that Kim Kardashian married Kris Humphries in what was really one of the most lavish weddings ever seen on television. Let`s reminisce, shall we?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KIM KARDASHIAN, REALITY TV STAR: Kris, I love you.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And take you to be my wedded husband.

KARDASHIAN: And take you to be my wedded husband.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: To have and to hold from this day forward.

KARDASHIAN: To have and to hold from this day forward.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Until death do us part.

KARDASHIAN: Until death do us part.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: I think the part that was cut off there was "Until death do us part" or 72 days whichever comes first. Now, they broke up after less than three months and now Kim and Kris seem to be headed towards a pretty messy divorce trial but we say, you know what; despite the break-up and the apparent divorce drama Kim should celebrate today`s anniversary anyway.

So tonight we`re counting down the top five reasons Kim should not regret her marriage to Kris.

Let`s kick off our countdown with number five. You were a basketball wife. Yes, even though Kim was just married to Kris for 72 days, she was married to an NBA star, which means Kim is now eligible to be on yet another reality show, "Basketball Wives". What do you think?

With me in New York, former "Real Housewives of New York City" star, Jill Zarin. Jill has a fantastic line of shape wear called "Squeeze Couture". She`ll be debuting her new fall collection on HSN this Wednesday and tells me she will kill herself if it doesn`t do well. So please buy some.

JILL ZARIN, FORMER "REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW YORK CITY": That`s it.

HAMMER: Joining me from Hollywood, actor comedian Bill Bellamy`s. Bill`s very funny show time special "Crazy, Sexy, Dirty" is out now on DVD. And that hat will be available soon on HSN.

"Basketball Wives" really could be another good gig for Kim Kardashian if you ask me. So when Kim Kardashian`s show goes off the air, you know "Keeping up with the Kardashians" I think she can make an easy transition into that reality show although she might need to toughen up just a little bit. And watch this. You`ll understand what I mean.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I`m certainly not going to let you sleeping with him mean something to me. That wasn`t the issue.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Your (EXPLETIVE DELETED) missing the point of what (EXPLETIVE DELETED) I`m saying.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You are not (EXPLETIVE DELETED) bitch.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: (EXPLETIVE DELETED) you.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: No, no, no. Tammy, Tammy.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Tammy, Tammy.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes. Kim`s going to need to spend just a little more time in the gym if you ask me. Bill, let me start with you. Do you think Kim could hold her own with those "Basketball Wives"?

BILL BELLAMY: Me?

HAMMER: Yes.

BELLAMY: No. No way.

ZARIN: No way.

BELLAMY: First of all, she is too nice. She`s too nice. She doesn`t have enough quick hands. You got to have quick hands to be on that show.

HAMMER: You`ve got have quick hands to be able to lift a table apparently.

Jill, look, you had great success doing a reality show.

ZARIN: I did.

HAMMER: Do you think she should actually perhaps transition to another one and maybe this one in particular?

ZARIN: Well, yes. I do think that her life is a reality show so I would not be surprised. I`d actually see her going in to something more like a 24-hour reality show where they have cameras 24 hours a day rolling and you could pay to see her any time of the day.

I mean that`s sort of what I think the direction is of reality.

HAMMER: Like a big sister kind of thing.

ZARIN: What was that movie?

HAMMER: "The Truman Show".

ZARIN: That was it.

HAMMER: Yes.

ZARIN: That`s kind of what -- The Kim show.

HAMMER: That is pretty much her life anyway.

ZARIN: It is.

HAMMER: Even if the cameras aren`t rolling for her reality show --

ZARIN: There`s not enough time for her in the "Basketball Wives". There`s too many other wives. It has to be all about Kim.

HAMMER: Exactly. I think that`s a very good point.

All right. Let`s move on to number four right now on our countdown of reasons that Kim Kardashian should not regret marrying Kris.

Hey. It was a great party. I mean, how many people are going to say they threw a wedding costing millions of dollars? And you know, those Kardashians do know how to throw a good party. I mean they had nothing but the best food, all that top shelf liquor and they enjoyed it on a lovely and amazing estate in Montecito California.

Bill, I`m thinking that Kim shouldn`t have any regrets about that. Everybody loves a great party.

BELLAMY: Of course not. First of all, let`s look at it like this. Just add a party with cake. A party with cake and a bunch of gifts. As long as you don`t have to give back the toaster, the blender, the gift card to Macy`s, I mean come on, baby. Let`s live it up.

HAMMER: I think she does a pretty good job of living it up, for sure.

All right. Let`s move on because next on our Kim regret-free anniversary countdown at number three, let`s talk about those wedding dresses. Kim wore not one or not two but three designer wedding dresses. Each was a Vera Wang creation reportedly costing around $20,000 a piece. Let`s watch that.

BELLAMY: Wow.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KARDASHIAN: Do you like me dress?

KRIS HUMPHRIES, NBA PLAYER: I love this.

KARDASHAN: Are you ready?

I`m changing into my second gown for a first dance with Kris. No, no, no. We can`t do that. Not in this.

I just have one more change for the night and I am eager to show off my old Hollywood sexy satin look.

Do you like my new dress? Much more easy to walk in, right?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Three wedding dresses. I mean look that seems a bit much to me. What the heck do I know? Jill, I`ll ask you. I`ll get your perspective on this. Is that a bride`s dream come true -- three Vera Want dresses in one night?

ZARIN: Personally, I would be stressed out beyond belief. I would actually have a heart attack --

HAMMER: How can you be all stressed out beyond belief?

ZARIN: A lot of anxiety. That gives me a lot of anxiety having three dresses to wear. But you know what; they did have a great party that night. I know people who were there and it was a great party.

HAMMER: All right. And three dresses for some people.

ZARIN: What do you think she`s doing tonight?

HAMMER: Right now?

ZARIN: Tonight on her anniversary.

HAMMER: On the anniversary.

ZARIN: What do you really think?

HAMMER: I think she`s watching "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT" and realizing that she should be celebrating and we`re going to give her yet another reason right now with number two.

Fly it by me, Brett. This is number two. It`s why Kim shouldn`t regret the marriage to Kris. Kim learned a lesson -- that we think anyway. They do say life is a journey and along the way, you do make mistakes and that is exactly what Kim says happened when she married Kris Humphries.

Let us together now listen to Kim speaking with Oprah Winfrey about learning from her mistakes.

KARDASHIAN: But I also think that just things happen the way they`re supposed to, to bring you to where you`re eventually supposed to be when you`re at a certain age, when you`re old enough. I mean, I`ve obviously made plenty of mistakes in my lifetime but I`m not the type to sit and beat myself over it.

If a real lesson was learned, I`m so ok with having experienced that.

OPRAH WINFREY, TALK SHOW HOST: That is so perfect I could weep.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: She almost made Oprah weep. You know? So that right there - -

ZARIN: I can`t --

HAMMER: No. I think there`s something to that. I don`t know. I am not going to be so cynical about that and think maybe she did evolve. Oprah seemed to love it and believed that Kim had learned her lesson.

Bill, let me ask you. Do you think that Kim really did learn a lesson, considering in particular, how fast she jumped in to another very public relationship, this time, of course, with Kanye West?

BELLAMY: Well, I think that she might have learned that maybe not marry a guy immediately or, you know, maybe let`s not make it the big wedding of the year thing but more importantly I just think that she likes, you know, all the attention. You know? She`s been getting attention for the last five, six years. I think it`s good for her, it feeds her brand.

And now she`s with Kanye who`s a huge star and they`re getting more and more. It`s just like a machine that won`t stop. I think the person that benefited the most was Kris Humphries because before that, I didn`t know who the hell he was.

HAMMER: Exactly. So he should be celebrating on this anniversary tonight.

BELLAMY: Yes.

HAMMER: Ok. There you have it; four down, just one to go. You definitely do not want to miss what is number one tonight on our countdown of the top reasons Kim Kardashian should not regret her marriage to Kris Humphries one bit.

That`s coming up next.

But first, there is an amazing musician who can count super producer Pharrell Williams and actor Zach Galifianakis as his fans. His music inspired tens of thousands during the revolution against apartheid. Someone like that has got to be legendary, international. Right? Not exactly.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A man who lives his whole life in Detroit, working as a construction worker really, hard manual labor, without knowing that at the very same time he`s more famous than Elvis Presley in another part of the world.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Yes. You heard that right. He said more famous than Elvis. We`ll introduce you to the most famous rock star that you have never heard of and after tonight I guarantee you this. You`ll never forget him. It`s a "Real Showbiz Mystery".

This is "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT" on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I pronounce you husband and wife. Kris, you may kiss your bride. Friends and family it is a delight to present for the very first time, Mr. and Mrs. Kris Humphries.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HAMMER: Good times. That was exactly one year ago today when Kim Kardashian married her Prince Charming. A legendary TV wedding that really turned in to an epic failure and a PR nightmare for the reality TV princess.

"SHOWBIZ TONIGHT" is counting down the top five reasons Kim Kardashian should not regret her marriage to Kris Humphries exactly one year ago. And let me run down where we are so far.

At number five on our countdown, Kim was a basketball wife. Now even though Kim was married to Kris for just 72 days she was married to an NBA star. That means Kim is now eligible to be on another reality show. She could be on "Basketball Wives". I don`t see it happening but I think it`s a good idea.

Number four, it was a great party. I mean not so many people can say they threw a party costing millions of bucks but Kim sure can.

At number three, the wedding dresses. Kim got to wear, not one, not two but three -- count them three -- Vera Wang wedding dresses.

Number two on the countdown, Kim learned a lesson, we think. Life is about learning from your mistakes and Kim told Oprah that she learned a big lesson by marrying Kris.

That brings us to the top spot on the regret-free anniversary countdown. At number one, think about all those gifts and all that money.

Back with former "Housewives of New York City" star Jill Zarin, Bill Bellamy a comedian joining us from Hollywood tonight. Look, we know how much fun it is to open presents. I`m sure Kim had a great time popping those fabulous gifts open that she got from her wedding. We know she did end up making make donations to charity since the marriage lasted only 72 days.

And Jill I`m going to start with you on this. I`m thinking she still made out like a bandit.

ZARIN: She did. And I`d like to know where those presents went. Did they go to charity or is she using them all? I don`t know.

HAMMER: Well, this was the subject of great debate. She did make a donation to represent the presents to charity so people weren`t slamming her so much for, you know, hanging on to them after 72 days of marriage.

ZARIN: I don`t believe it. I mean maybe. I don`t even think it matters but I would like to know really where she is tonight.

HAMMER: Yes. We`ll look in to that as soon as we`re done here Jill. But think about the money too. I mean we watched the two-part wedding special on E! It was Kim`s big fairytale wedding. The whole world saw it. Reports were out there that Kim and her family made as much as $18 million from the wedding.

ZARIN: Wow.

HAMMER: And all the coverage deals. Kim has denied any kind of a big payday but knowing the Kardashians as well as we know them, they had to score on these nuptials. Will you have any regrets about a failed marriage, my friend, if you made that much money from it?

BELLAMY: You know what, that would be the happiest day of my life, you know. $18 million dollars, a party -- get out of it in 72 days. I mean come on. Who wouldn`t go for that?

HAMMER: Yes. You know, life is what you make of it.

ZARIN: There were no babies. I mean that was the blessing.

BELLAMY: Yes. No babies.

ZARIN: There were no babies. It wasn`t -- it was a big party. They got a lot of presents, they danced all night, they made some money and a year later she`s happy and he`s happy. He just signed a huge contract with the NBA.

HAMMER: Let`s collectively wish the two of them a happy non- anniversary. Jill and Bill, I thank you both. Make sure you watch Jill Zarin Wednesday --

BELLAMY: Thank you.

HAMMER: -- on HSN. She`s debuting her fall collection of "Squeeze Couture". Bill`s Showtime special "Crazy Sexy Dirty" -- there it is -- out on DVD now and if you`re in San Jose I urge you to check out Bill`s act on Thursday through Sunday. He`s at the San Jose Improv.

Well, we move now from millions in gifts to a billion for Beyonce.

She was on TV and in movies during her 60-year career. Just last year, she proved she still had it appearing with fellow female comics on CNN`s Anderson Cooper. Well today, her agent told SHOWBIZ TONIGHT that Phyllis Diller was a pioneer who paved the way for everyone from Joan Rivers to Ellen DeGeneres.

Moving now to a "Real Showbiz Mystery" -- imagine if Elvis Presley had never been discovered or if you heard the music of the Rolling Stones but never saw Mick Jagger in your life. Seems like an unlikely scenario, right?

Well, tonight, we have got the unbelievable tale of the iconic music touted by stars like Pharrell Williams and Zach Galifianakis; music that`s been around for 30 years and, yet, no one ever met the man behind it. The story`s uncovered in a fascinating new documentary and tonight CNN`s Poppy Harlow takes us on the search for the Sugar Man.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He thought he was like the inner city poet.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He was this wandering spirit around the city.

POPPY HARLOW, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Sixto Rodriguez, a Dylanesque Detroit native who tried his hand at rock history in the `70s.

MIKE THEODORE, CO-PRODUCER, "COLD FACT" BY RODRIGUEZ: When we walked in and heard the songs he was singing and what he was writing, we had to record him. We had to make a deal for him. He`s great. We said this is it.

HARLOW: But it wasn`t. Rodriguez`s albums flopped in the U.S. Somehow, though, his first album "Cold Fact" made it halfway around the world and became a massive hit.

MALIK BENDJELLOUL, DIRECTOR, "SEARCHING FOR SUGAR MAN": In South Africa, he was in the pantheon of rock gods.

STEPHEN SEGERMAN, OWNER, MABU VINYL IN CAPE TOWN: To us, it was one of the most famous records of all time.

HARLOW: The soundtrack of the anti-apartheid movement fueling a revolution.

(MUSIC)

HARLOW: But at home in Detroit Rodriguez had no idea. He`d given up his music career. That was four decades ago.

(on camera): You used to play across the street there, right?

SIXTO RODRIGUEZ, SINGER: Right, I played at a lot of places in Detroit.

HARLOW (voice-over): Unaware of his fame abroad and getting no royalties, Rodriguez lived on little, raising his daughters doing demolition work.

RODRIGUEZ: I`m not a stranger to hard work.

HARLOW: He made failed bids for mayor, city council and state rep.

(on camera): You call yourself a musical political.

RODRIGUEZ: Musical political, yes. I don`t see how anyone can`t be and it`s not political.

HARLOW (voice-over): then at 57 he was rediscovered by a South African music journalist and a record store owner who found clues in his lyrics.

SEGERMAN: We found him. We found him.

HARLOW: They brought Rodriguez to South Africa and he played to thousands of adoring fans.

RODRIGUEZ: Thanks for keeping me alive.

SANDRA RODRIGUEZ, RODRIGUEZ`S DAUGHTER: He`s on stage and the crowd is just going wild and they`re singing and they`re crying.

HARLOW (on camera): It brings you to tears to see something like that happen to someone.

S. RODRIGUEZ: Yes.

RODRIGUEZ: It was epic.

HARLOW: Do you not think that your story is exceptional beyond belief?

RODRIGUEZ: Oh, it`s pretty wild, the story. You know? I`m a lucky man to be so fortunate at this late date.

BENDJELLOUL: This is a true Cinderella story.

HARLOW (voice-over): Filmmaker Malik Bendjelloul tells it in his documentary "Searching for Sugar Man".

BENDJELLOUL: A man who lives his whole life in Detroit as construction worker, really hard manual labor without knowing that at the very same time he`s more famous than Elvis Presley in another part of the world. I thought it was the most beautiful story I ever heard in my life.

HARLOW: A beautiful story but also a mystery. Where were all the royalties?

BENDJELLOUL: I don`t know. I don`t know. I do think it`s an important question because the reason why Rodriguez didn`t know that he was famous for 30 years was that he didn`t get royalties.

HARLOW: Asked if he feels ripped off --

RODRIGUEZ: Oh, well, no. Not in that sense of -- and hate is too strong an emotion to waste on someone you don`t like. You know?

HARLOW (on camera): Do you want the fame and the fortune?

RODRIGUEZ: Fame is fleeting.

HARLOW (voice-over): Now 70, Rodriguez may finally get his due.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Thank you, Rodriguez.

HARLOW (on camera): Do you ever pinch yourself and ask, is this real?

RODRIGUEZ: Is it real? It`s certainly a different life. You know? It`s certainly not what it was.
