THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.
A.J. HAMMER, HOST: Tonight, Oprah`s explosive 180 on Rihanna going back to Chris Brown. Does Oprah think it`s OK for Rihanna to reunite with Chris despite his violent past?
And Rosie`s extraordinary offer to Honey Boo-Boo. Will Rosie buy Honey Boo-Boo`s family a house?
And who will top our countdown of SHOWBIZ Shockers?
Hello, thanks for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer.
We have two big SHOWBIZ Countdowns tonight, including counting down the top five mysteries, including is the Mariah Carey-Nicki Minaj caught-on-tape blow-up just one big old "American Idol" publicity stunt?
And who just sent Bristol Palin a very scary, possibly dangerous package? Does it have anything to do with her return to "Dancing with the Stars"?
We`ve got the big reveal of the No. 1 SHOWBIZ Mystery coming up.
We begin with our first countdown of the night. It`s the top three shockers breaking today.
And kicking it off at No. 3, Oprah`s startling about face about Rihanna and Chris Brown.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
OPRAH WINFREY, MEDIA MOGUL: If a man hits you once, he will hit you again.
RIHANNA, SINGER: That`s right.
WINFREY: He will hit you again.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Remember that? That was Oprah`s warning to Rihanna three and a half years ago after Chris Brown beat her up.
Well, Chris has just revealed a brand-new video all but confirming that, you know what? He and Rihanna are back together. And it seems Oprah`s recent interview with Rihanna has actually changed her mind. I want you to watch what she just told "Extra" about reports that they`re back together.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
WINFREY: And no, I`m not surprised. You know what I loved about that interview? Is that she had -- she came with a big wide open heart. And that she was in the space of forgiveness and that she learned a lesson, that she was repeating with Chris Brown exactly what she needed to learn from her father.
And so I think that, if she is prepared to deal with that and is prepared to, you know, help him help himself, then so be it. I have no judgment about it.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: I respect where she`s coming from on that, but I`ve got to tell you, a lot of people just shocked today that Oprah is apparently giving her blessing to Rihanna and Chris reuniting, which obviously is a far cry from "if a man hits you once, he`ll hit you again."
With me tonight in New York, actor and TV personality Alesha Renee. She`s a contributor to the hilarious MTV 2 series "Guy Code." Jenny Hutt with us in New York tonight, too. Jenny is a parenting relationship expert and the host of the Sirius XM show "Just Jenny."
Alesha, I`m starting with you. I want to know which Oprah you agree with. The 2009 "if he hits you once, he`ll hit you again" Oprah or the 2012 Oprah who`s talking about forgiveness and not judging these two.
ALESHA RENEE, CONTRIBUTOR, MTV 2`S "GUY CODE": I`m kind of in the middle, A.J. You know, I`ve been in abusive relationships myself. I`ve always spoken very candidly about that. So I definitely know the whole "he hits you once, he`ll hit you twice."
But I also live in forgiveness myself. And, you know, no one ever really knows what has been going on in the inner sanctums of this relationship except Rihanna and Chris Brown. So who are we to judge?
HAMMER: Yes, Jenny, what do you think? I mean, it`s a tough thing when you consider both sides of it.
JENNY HUTT, HOST, SIRIUS XM`S "JUST JENNY": Right. Well, I do think it`s a tough thing. I happen to agree with the concept of forgiveness.
But I disagree with you, A.J., that Oprah was two different people in those two clips. If you listen carefully to what she said, she said she`s not going to judge where -- what Rihanna is doing. Not that she thinks that Chris Brown is never going to hit her again.
You know, I hope that Chris Brown is going to keep rehabilitating himself and never lay a hand on Rihanna. Because it`s just an unfortunate set of circumstances that she`s putting herself back into that.
But I understand love, and I understand complexities of relationships. But it`s never OK to hit or to harm another person.
HAMMER: There is certainly no question, Jenny, that you and I agree there.
Well, Rosie O`Donnell has been keeping busy since Oprah canceled her show. And now Rosie`s revealing her love for another show. This comes in at No. 2 on our SHOWBIZ Countdown of the day`s top three shockers.
Rosie O`Donnell loves TLC`s reality show "Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo" and its pint-size star, 7-year-old Alana Thompson. People.com revealed in a brand- new interview today with Rosie that she wants to buy Honey Boo-Boo and her family a house. Let`s watch this together.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
ROSIE O`DONNELL, COMEDIAN: I think that little girl, Honey Boo-Boo, she is like Shirley Temple. She has a presence and an intellect that goes way beyond her years. Some of the stuff that she says and she comes up with, I don`t know, I`d love to meet them. And buy them a house.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: I want to buy them a house. Why not?
Let me bring in comedian and CNN.com contributor Dean Obeidallah. He`s here in New York.
All right, Dean. There, you heard it. Rosie thinks this is a young woman of high intellect. She wants to buy Honey Boo-Boo a house. Would that be a big boo-boo in your mind?
DEAN OBEIDALLAH, CNN.COM CONTRIBUTOR: It`s a great gesture. And if she won`t take the house, Rosie, if you`re watching, I`ll take the house. You can call me Honey Boo-Boo or Honey Bob or whatever you want to call me.
I think it`s a great gesture on Rosie, even if she`s kidding around. I like Honey Boo-Boo, too. I`m going to be honest with you. She`s an engaging, precocious young kid. Sassy. A little more redneck than Shirley Temple. But she`ll admit to that. But she`s fun to watch.
HAMMER: I`m not certain she`s coming up with all those one-liners on her own. I don`t want to be too much of a cynic. But wouldn`t this be one of the most unlikely friendships ever, Rosie and Honey Boo-Boo?
OBEIDALLAH: I think that`s a perfect reality show. Put those two together. That`s going to be the spinoff from the spinoff of "Toddlers & Tiaras," "Honey Boo-Boo," now Rosie and Boo-Boo together touring the country in a car, a "Thelma & Louise" type of thing. I think you have a lot of potential for it to be great TV.
HAMMER: I would watch that, and I will definitely...
OBEIDALLAH: So would I.
HAMMER: I`ll let Rosie know. Look, if the house doesn`t go to Boo-Boo, the house should go to you.
OBEIDALLAH: Please.
HAMMER: It`s time -- it is now time for me to reveal what is No. 1 in our countdown of SHOWBIZ Shockers breaking today. And it`s one I`m really still having trouble wrapping my head around.
Lindsay Lohan`s dad, Michael Lohan, debating parenting with the Octomom, Nadya Suleiman. Yes, Lindsay Lohan`s wayward dad and the infamous mother of 14 teamed up to debate the subject of single parenting on deeyoon.com.
Octomom is getting paid to debate anyone who wants to come her way on the Web site. Does it get more surreal than Michael Lohan and the Octomom debating parenting? Could it? Let`s watch.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MICHAEL LOHAN, LINDSAY LOHAN`S FATHER: Ideally, that a child needs a mother and a father. Not that things can`t go right if they don`t. But I`m saying, ideally they should. They need two role models. That`s all I say.
NADYA SULEIMAN, OCTOMOM: I wish we had a perfect world in -- all around us. But we don`t. You know, we are always constantly being judged by other people that don`t know us. And they adopt -- adopt a false sense of entitlement, you know, believing they`re entitled to judge us, like we are they, themselves. We`re not. So I`m just raising my children the best way I possibly can.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: I think my head is going to explode. What was he doing? What was Michael Lohan doing? He`s like off to the side.
All right. Back to you, Sirius XM`s Jenny Hutt.
Jenny, I don`t know what was going on there with Michael Lohan. You`re a parenting expert. This is actually something that you are well-versed in. Do you think that Michael Lohan and the Octomom -- maybe I`m missing something here. Maybe they have some kind of insight into parenting that, yes, people should hear. Or are you more likely to feel that these are the last two people who should be talking about what children need?
HUTT: Yes, I`m with you here, A.J. I think that these are the last two people that I`m going to go to for parenting advice. Basically, I think I`m going to watch what they do and do the opposite with my children.
HAMMER: Yes. That`s a splendid idea. Dean, what do you think? I mean, aside from his clever skill -- I don`t know how he keeps doing that. should anybody be paying attention to this?
OBEIDALLAH: Let`s look at the positive. Octomom is not doing porn. I would rather watch her debate than try to mate. So that`s a step forward in the right direction on that one.
We`ll have Lindsay Lohan next give driving instructions. You know what? Let them have fun. If you want to pay them to fight, I think you can fight on Twitter for free. But if people want to engage in some -- watch them fight over parenting, I`d rather be raised by wolves than these two.
HAMMER: Do not mate, just debate. I can hear the cries now.
All right. Dean and Jenny, thank you both so much. I`m going to do the whole show like this. It`s kind of fun.
Tonight we have another SHOWBIZ Countdown. It`s SHOWBIZ Mysteries. Was Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey`s big feud just a big setup? The "American Idol" diva showdown, was it all a stunt for ratings?
And another singing show mystery. Why is "X Factor" judge Britney Spears all of a sudden said to be unfit to stand trial against her former manager?
What is No. 1 on the countdown of SHOWBIZ Mysteries? And another SHOWBIZ Countdown tonight, playing the president.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We are almost out of time, so I will instead ask each candidate to sum up in a single word the best argument for his candidacy. Government Bush.
WILL FERRELL, FORMER CAST MEMBER, NBC`S "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE": Strategery.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: So many spectacular impersonations, so little time. Who tops them all? The SHOWBIZ Countdown, Playing the President coming up.
This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Nicole Kidman opens up about her fame and her decade-long marriage to Tom Cruise in a brand-new interview with "Harper`s Bazaar."
Back in the `90s Kidman says she wasn`t so comfortable with the limelight. "In those early years it was like, I`m here and I`m clutching onto your arm. It all feels a little overwhelming and really strange. And I was shy. Deeply shy. I didn`t feel comfortable at all, but I felt very comfortable at home."
"Harper`s Bazaar" will be on newsstands October 23.
And coming up, playing the president? Who`s the best presidential impersonator of all time? SHOWBIZ Countdown is next.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JASON SUDEIKIS, CAST MEMBER, NBC`S "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE": Excuse me, Governor. Mr. President.
JAY PHAROAH, CAST MEMBER, NBC`S "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE": I`m sorry. Yes. Yes. What`s up?
SUDEIKIS: Mr. President, Governor Romney has just said that he killed Osama bin Laden. Would you care to respond?
PHAROAH: No, you two go ahead.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Jay Pharoah taking on the role of President Obama in "Saturday Night Live" spoof of the now-infamous first presidential debate of the season. I love his impression, but will Jay`s impression stand the test of time as one of the best presidential impressions ever? That is the theme of tonight`s SHOWBIZ Countdown. It`s Playing the President.
"Saturday Night Live`s" lampooning of presidents has become an election fixture. The political high season is just really so much more entertaining, thanks to impressions, like Chevy Chase as Gerald Ford and Dana Carvey, of course, as George Bush.
In fact, some of these guys are so good at playing the president that we often confuse the memorable quotes of theirs with what the real president actually said. But who did it best?
Tonight, it`s our top five best, greatest, most dead-on funny presidential impersonators ever.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
HAMMER (voice-over): As the current president knows...
PHAROAH: The economy is in the tank. The job market`s horrible.
HAMMER: Being impersonated is part of the job. And there are a few comic giants whose presidential impersonations were ones for the ages.
FERRELL: Guess what, amigo? I`m coming to get you.
DANA CARVEY, FORMER CAST MEMBER, NBC`S "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE": It`s bad. They`re bad.
DARRELL HAMMOND, FORMER CAST MEMBER, NBC`S "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE": I am bulletproof.
HAMMER: Tonight in the SHOWBIZ Countdown, we bring you the top five presidential impersonators.
At No. 5, Chevy Chase as Gerald Ford.
CHASE: What`s this about a press conference, Ron?
BUCK HENRY, ACTOR: You called it, Mr. President.
CHASE: Called it what?
JO PIAZZA, SENIOR EDITOR, CURRENT TV: Chevy Chase`s Gerald Ford was absolutely hilarious.
CHASE: Hello.
HAMMER: Chevy Chase, performing in the mid `70s on some new comedy show called "Saturday Night Live," didn`t try too hard to look or sound like the 38th president. What he did was fall down. A lot.
PIAZZA: Gerald Ford is probably one of the most athletic presidents in modern history. But Chevy decided to play him as kind of this bumbling, lumbering fool.
CHASE: Shall we begin, gentleman? No problem.
HAMMER: No. 4 on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s countdown of the top five presidential impersonators, Vaughn Meader as President John F. Kennedy.
VAUGHN MEADER, JFK IMPERSONATOR: As you ladies and gentlemen there might know going around this country impersonating me.
HAMMER: In the 1960s Vaughn Meader lampooned JFK on shows like "The Ed Sullivan Show" and on records that had people lining up by the millions.
PIAZZA: It was one of the best-selling albums of all times as it was released.
MEADER: He`s just doing my justice. He`s using my lines. Do not ask what this country can do for you. That`s one of my original lines.
HAMMER: No. 3 on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s countdown of the top presidential impersonators, Will Ferrell as George W. Bush.
FERRELL: Don`t mess with Texas.
HAMMER: Will Ferrell`s skill at lampooning the 43rd president on "Saturday Night Live" can be summed up in one word.
FERRELL: Strategery.
PIAZZA: So a lot of the American public firmly believes that George W. Bush actually mangled the word "strategy" and said "strategery" when actually it was just Will Ferrell`s impersonation.
FERRELL: I`d like to address my remarks tonight to Mr. Osama bin Laden. You made a big mistake. If you had any brains, you would have challenged me to a game of "Scrabble."
HAMMER: No. 2 on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s countdown of top five presidential impersonators, Darrell Hammond as Bill Clinton on SNL.
HAMMER: And I believe if there is one thing my presidency will be remembered for, it will be honesty and integrity.
PIAZZA: Darrell Hammond really nailed both the southern drawl, the swagger.
HAMMOND: If there`s one thing I`ve learned it`s that our laws are like pinatas. The more you beat them, the more candy you get.
HAMMER: And now, the big reveal. No. 1 on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s countdown of the top five presidential impersonators. Dana Carvey as George H.W. Bush.
CARVEY: Hurricane Hugo doing that damage down there. Going round and round, doing that hurricane thing down there. A lot of damage. Natural disaster. Not my fault.
HAMMER: How perfect was Dana Carvey`s George Bush on "SNL"?
CARVEY: Not gonna do it. Not gon do it.
HAMMER: It got the seal of approval from Bush himself.
PIAZZA: Bush one has actually impersonated Dana Carvey impersonating him.
CARVEY: Wouldn`t be prudent at this juncture.
GEORGE H.W. BUSH, FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: As Dana Carvey would say, "Not gonna do it. Wouldn`t be prudent."
HAMMER: And that`s why it tops our countdown of the best presidential impersonations.
CARVEY: It was good, good!
(END VIDEOTAPE)
HAMMER: I love Dana Carvey. If only we could actually vote for the comedians instead of the actual politicians they play, right?
Well, tonight we move onto SHOWBIZ Mystery. Bristol Palin gets a package containing a white powdery substance right on the set of "Dancing with the Stars." Is it a death threat?
And the other SHOWBIZ Mystery, what happened to Mary Jo Buttafuoco, the woman who Amy Fisher shot in the head? Well, Mary Jo`s going to be right here 20 years after becoming the victim in the famous Long Island Lolita case. The SHOWBIZ Countdown, SHOWBIZ Mysteries, next.
This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Tonight Adele`s big bomb bonanza. It`s just fun to say. Adele just celebrated the debut of her single for the next James Bond film, "Skyfall," and the song is already No. 1 on iTunes. That happened ten hours after it was released on Friday, which was also the 50th anniversary of the James Bond franchise. Just incredible.
Tonight another big endorsement from the man who wrote the James Bond theme song. Tonight composer Monty Norman tells us what he thinks of Adele`s Bond song. Here`s CNN`s Neil Curry for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
ADELE, SINGER (singing): This is the end.
NEIL CURRY, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Officially released in various time zones around the world at seven minutes past midnight, 007, of course, Adele has added her voice to a collection of Bond theme songs spanning half a century.
The Bond song has become one of the most high-profile musical contributions in cinematic history.
ADELA: This sky home, when they crumble, we will stand tall.
CURRY (on camera): So this is your study. What do we have here?
MONTY NORMAN, COMPOSER: That is the first song I ever wrote.
CURRY (voice-over): As global Bond day marks 50 years since the release of "Dr. No," I met Monty Norman, the man hired to score that film. Famously credited as composer of the Bond theme music, he also wrote the first Bond song, portrayed on screen by Ursula Andress and Sean Connery.
NORMAN: I wrote it in a couple of days.
(singing) Underneath the mango tree...
(speaking) And so on. And then I taught it to Sean and Ursula.
URSULA ANDRESS, ACTRESS (singing): Underneath the mango tree.
NORMAN: On the day I sort of kind of kept out of the way but watched it, and I thought when I saw Ursula coming out of the water, this is a moment in any film, you know. And she started to sing, and Sean sang back at her. And it just worked beautifully.
SEAN CONNERY, ACTOR (singing): Underneath the mango tree, my honey and me.
ANDRESS: Who`s that?
CURRY: The composer feels the song choice for the 22 films since then haven`t always hit the right note.
NORMAN: I felt one or two of them haven`t been as good as they could -- should be. Because they`ve been somebody who perhaps at that moment was having major success. But that doesn`t necessarily work for the film itself, because you have to have that drama and atmosphere and feeling of the story. And not all of them have had that. But a hell of a lot have.
CURRY: And for Monty Norman, Adele`s song is one of those which has succeeded.
NORMAN: I think it`s very good. Very good indeed. And she is brilliant. I think she`s going to be around for a long time.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
HAMMER: That was CNN`s Neil Curry for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.
Well, things definitely seem shaken and stirred on the set of "American Idol." But was the shocking feud between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey a publicity stunt?
Also, "X Factor" judge Britney Spears unfit to stand trial against her former manager.
Tonight, which star mystery will top SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s countdown, SHOWBIZ Mystery?
This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Right now on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, the SHOWBIZ Countdown, top five SHOWBIZ Mysteries.
Steven Tyler and Cee-Lo Green slam the mega feud between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, calling it a publicity stunt. Is the year`s biggest diva battle really all fake?
And Britney Spears`s family says she`s not competent to go on the stands and testify in court. But they sure think she`s competent enough to make millions judging on the "X Factor." So is she or isn`t she ready for a courtroom?
We are counting down the top five SHOWBIZ Mysteries of today. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT continues right now.
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Thanks for watching.
Tonight we`re counting down the top five SHOWBIZ Mysteries breaking today. And kicking it off at number five, the brand new developments today in the feud between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey that just exploded on the set of "American Idol," all just adding to the mystery over whether Nicki`s expletive field tirade against Mariah Carey was one big carefully staged publicity stunt.
Some are saying they smell something foul about this supposed feud. And now, you can add former American judge Steven Tyler to the list of those crying foul. You`ll see what he said in just a moment. But first, let`s watch what the ladies of "The View" said this morning. Roll that Charles.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: This whole fight that they`re having, Steven Tyler is quoted in the "Daily News" today, I think, saying it`s a publicity stunt.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: It`s not.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Well, we`re talking about.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: We are talking about it.
With me in New York, Jenny Hutt. Jenny, the host of Sirius XM`s show "Just Jenny," which is fantastic. Also with me in New York, TV personality Alesha Renee. She is the contributor to the hilarious MTV to series, "Guy Code."
All right. So, here is now what former "American Idol" judge Steven Tyler told just TMZ when he was asked if quote, "Nicki and Mariah" were B-sing the whole beef? Here`s what Steven replied.
"Of course, are you kidding?" And when he was asked if he could return to "American Idol," Steven Tyler said "I`m never going back."
OK. So, Steven is not returning to "American Idol." I think we knew that, Jenny. But, he obviously that has little doubt that the feud is just a farce. Are you with Steven on that?
HUTT: First of all, I want to commend you on the accent that you did. Great impression of Steven Tyler. Fantastic.
Look, I hope it`s not a stunt. Sure, it`s possible that it`s a stunt. But it think, these are two strong women who probably went at it. Someone caught it with a cell phone and there you go. The quality of the video was not great. So, I don`t really think it was so planned.
HAMMER: Yes. For me, I can`t imagine putting up a stunt like this because who would want, even Nicki Minaj, who would want to have the reputation of threatening another artist, particularly Mariah Carey with gun violence, as has been alleged.
And I can tell you, Cee-Lo Green of course, who is judge on "The Voice," another guy who thinks that the feud is bogus. Here`s what he is telling TMZ. And this true. He says, "This is Hollywood California. Hardly anything is legit."
All right, Alesha, from the mouths of, not one but two on TV`s biggest judges right now, do you smell a publicity stunt as well?
RENEE: I think it`s real. I mean, Nicki is from Queens and people keep forgetting that, like she`s very spicy and she has an attitude on her. And I think that when you have two women in one area, and we all know how that can go down. Sometimes it can go real bad real quick. I definitely think it`s real.
HAMMER: All right, fair enough. And I think we can all agree on one point that the ladies at "The View" made about the whole supposed feud between Mariah and Nicki on "American Idol." This is what they said this morning.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: There are a lot of things we don`t know, most things I don`t know. This is not pleasant for either woman. And the problem is, again, it makes you want to see the judges. But supposedly you want to see the contestants. That`s what the show is about.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes, right on. We hope it goes back to that.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yes, see right on. We hope it goes back to that because there was a time in the show`s history, when it was very successful when it was all about the contestants. Well, there was a big scare tonight for one of the contestant on another reality show, a very famous contestant.
Coming in at number four on the top five SHOWBIZ Mysteries today: Bristol Palin`s mysterious package delivery. Who just sent Bristol a very scary, possibly very dangerous package right to the set of "Dancing with the Stars" which is in fact on TV tonight? They had in all around to the competition. Does it have anything to do with Bristol returning to "Dancing with the Stars"?
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Nischelle Turner is joining me right now from Hollywood. What have you learned, Nischelle, about this mysterious delivery? It`s kind of scary.
NISCHELLE TURNER, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT CORRESPONDENT: Yes, it is, A.J. Both the FBI and the Los Angeles police department are reportedly looking into the mysterious package sent to Bristol because it contained a mysterious white powder.
Now, TMZ is reporting that both the FBI and the LAPD have launched an investigation to try and track down where this package came from. They say that both agencies are looking into the possibility that this package is somehow connected to a scare back in 2010 when a threatening letter, believed to contain white powder, was sent to the offices of "Dancing with the Stars."
Now, TMZ is also reporting that sources reveal to them that attached to the package was a note that read, quote, "This is what will happen to you if Bristol Palin stays on the show."
Now A.J., we reached out to ABC today. They`re not commenting saying contact the FBI and the LAPD.
HAMMER: Well, Nischelle, I can only imagine how high the tensions were and quite frankly, how high the security must remain on that set tonight. So, scary. Let`s just hope it all works out.
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Nischelle Turner, thank you so much.
We move from Bristol`s scary delivery to Britney Spears`s potentially scary trial date. This comes in at number three on the top five mysteries breaking today. Is Britney Spears really not competent to face off with her ex-manager, Sam Lufti, in court?
Now, he is suing Britney`s family, accusing them of breach of contract, liable, and defamation because of something that Britney`s mom wrote in her book, and his lawyer is planning to call Britney to the stand.
However, Britney`s conservatorship, that of course includes her father, says you know what, she`s not in any condition to do that. The judge in the case has reportedly agreed. And look, I totally understand why everyone is looking to protect Britney from testifying. We know bad things happened to Britney around the time Sam Lufti was managing her. But what some people don`t get is, how is she possible confident - not confident to testify, but she seems totally in control handling herself on the "X Factor" in front of millions of people? Watch.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Britney?
BRITNEY SPEARS, SINGER: You made my day. I felt like I had a connection with you the moment you started singing. And you really delivered. It was amazing. It was very good.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Thank you, so, so much.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: All right, Jenny, let me go to you on this. Does it seem to you, hey, Britney is able to get in court and defend herself if she can handle the pressure of being a judge on the "X Factor".
HUTT: Well, this is what I think. I think Britney sort of stunted at age 17 or 18 heyday, so she`s sort of like a child performer even though she`s an adult. So I don`t know if she`s competent. I do know that it`s sad. I think about her back in 1998 when I was a new mother. I thought if I could be that self possessed today back then it would be amazing. And then to see what`s happened to her throughout the years, it`s just sad. So if, in fact, she is unfit to testify, that`s just unfortunate. Then don`t make her testify.
And I would like to believe look, if a judge agrees, and obviously they have experts I assumed involved in this decision making process, then everybody should probably just let it lie.
HAMMER: So, who will take the number one spot on the countdown of the mysteries tonight? Will it be the mystery of whatever happened to Mary Joe Buttafuoco who of course was shot in the face by Amy Fisher, you remember the teenage lover of her ex, Joey Buttafuoco?
Or will it will be remarkable mystery of the man who is bigger than Elvis, who was found alive after everyone thought he was dead. It`s such an amazing story. Do not move. We will have the reveal coming up next.
And SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is also revealing yet another big mystery tonight. "Esquire" magazine just named the sexiest woman alive. So, did your pick make the most coveted cover of the year?
This is SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Tonight we are counting down the top five SHOWBIZ Mysteries breaking today. And here`s what we have so far.
Number five, Steven Tyler and Cee-Lo Green slam the whole Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey "American Idol" feud. They are calling it a PR stunt.
And in number four, a reported investigation into a suspicious package containing white powder sent to Bristol Palin at "Dancing with the Stars."
And in number three tonight, Britney Spears` conservatives claiming she is not competent to testify in a lawsuit brought in by her former manager. So, why is she able to be a judge on the "X Factor."
And that bring us to number two on the top five SHOWBIZ Mysteries breaking today. Oprah Winfrey reveals whatever happened to Mary Jo Buttafuoco. Now, take a look at how different Mary Joe looks now. This is 20 years after she was shot in the face by Amy Fisher for ex-husband Joey`s then 17- year-old lover and it`s not just Mary Joe`s appearance that has changed. Watch what she told Oprah about what are life is like now.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MARY JO BUTTAFUOCO, AUTHOR: In the since years since I`ve been on the Oprah Winfrey show, my children are grown up. I got married. I have moved to Las Vegas. I`ve been with my husband for ten years now. We got married in Las Vegas at this little chapel down the road there. And it was on February 25th of this year, 2012. And we just had his boss stand up for us and a couple of the people in the neighborhood. Really, it was that quick. Then, we got married. We went to lunch and went home and watched a movie.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Well, that`s quite a way to spend a day. Oprah`s "where are they now?" special airs Tuesday night on Own. And tonight, Mary Jo Buttafuoco joins us from her home in Las Vegas. It is good to speak with you, Mary Jo.
BUTTAFUOCO (via telephone): Hi A.J. How are you?
HAMMER: I`m all right. So, you moved to Vegas from New York. You just got re-married this year, congratulations on that. So when you go back 20 years to the time when you were shot by the so-called long island Lolita, how has that affected the way you live your life now? Because I imagine it`s had a tremendous impact.
BUTTAFUOCO: It`s different. It`s totally different when I think about how I was on that day 20 years ago, on May 19th and how I am now, I`m not even that same person. It is almost like, it was a dream or a story that I went through this tremendous journey to get where I am today.
HAMMER: And you look terrific. It`s great seeing you on the Oprah show. And I think this is something that is stunning to a lot of people. You also reveal to Oprah that you actually speak with your ex-husband Joey. I want to watch that.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BUTTAFUOCO: I have a relationship with Joey. It`s not much of a relationship. But we talk when we need to. But -- not on a regular basis. I`ve had to forgive him for what he`s done.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yes, I think it`s striking to a lot of people, Mary Jo that you`re still in touch with the man who cheated on you with a teenager who then shot you. What led to you, forgiving him?
BUTTAFUOCO: Oh, I don`t know that I have that much of a relationship, A.J. when I said that -- I mean, we have two children together. And every once in a while something comes up with one of them that we need to speak to each other about. But, other than that, we don`t really spend any time there I haven`t seen him in three and a half years. I just have not seen him. I only spoke to him a few times. Which really very minimal.
HAMMER: Well, and I guess there`s something to be said for not carrying around all the negative energy that came with what you had to deal with 20 years ago.
Mary Jo, it`s terrific to speak with you. It`s nice to see you. You look like you are very happy.
BUTTAFUOCO: Thank you. I am. And you know, I want to plug this facial paralysis institute which has been so helpful to regain the confidence I had after I got shot. It is such an important thing to me. I`m on the board there. And if people could just go check out the Web site. It`s a facial paralysis. And they`ll call the institute.com. If anybody is suffering from this as a result of an illness or injury, please know there is help for you.
HAMMER: All right, Mary Joe. We hope everyone is watching tomorrow night on Oprah`s "Where Are They Mow?" special on OWN.
