UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Go ahead, I`m not going to get in trouble. It worked in practice. Let`s just say.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
A.J. HAMMER, HOST: Wow. Caught on tape, a reporter tackled on live TV. But that eye-popping cringe-worthy video is only one of the buzz-making stories on the SHOWBIZ Countdown. The top five stories today that have us asking "Brilliant or Bananas"?
Hello. Thanks for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer. And the SHOWBIZ Countdown of the outrageous stories today that had us asking, "Brilliant or Bananas?" is coming up.
But we begin with our first big countdown of the night: today`s top three "SHOWBIZ Shockers."
Let`s get to it, and kick it off with No. 3 in the countdown. The shock today over the planned reality special about rapper Shawty Lo and the 11 children he had with 10 different women. And it has the equally outrageous title "All My Babies` Mamas." That was scheduled to air on the Oxygen network sometime this spring.
Leading the charge to make sure this special never sees the light of day, author Sabrina Lamb. Sabrina is the CEO of WorldofMoney.org. And it got a lot of attention because of her petition on Change.org demanding Oxygen pull the plug for good on "All My Babies` Mamas." Sabrina with us tonight in New York.
Thanks for being here.
SABRINA LAMB, AUTHOR: Thank you. Glad to be here, A.J.
HAMMER: Well, Sabrina, the Parents Television Council joined your call today to kill the show. And I love what you wrote on your petition. I want to read a bit of it.
You wrote, "Could you ever imagine a one-hour spectacle where 11 children are forced to witness their ten unwed mothers clamor for financial support, emotional attention and sexual reward from Shawty Lo, the apathetic father? This is not just an attack on African-American parents and children but all parents and children!"
All right. First off, I need you to know, I am completely on board what you`re saying, and that was very well said. But why do you see this as an attack?
LAMB: Well, it`s an attack on parents and children, because adults have choices, A.J. Children don`t.
You know, there are a lot of adults who choose to embarrass themselves on television. That`s their right to do. But you don`t have the right, without criticism from the world, to trot your children, to bring your children along to witness your toxic behaviors.
On this particular, in this particular pilot, you saw the women engage in juvenile female power struggles. You saw the -- saw them fight for the sexual reward, the emotional reward, the financial support of this one supposed-to-be father. There was a countdown where he tried to remember the names of his children.
And then the blatant message is unprotected sex is good. It`s not. It`s dangerous.
And then Oxygen media is poised or was poised to -- to promote these dangerous messages to their young female audience. And as they said in the December press release -- which I must add that it coincided with the Mayan people calendar with the end of the world -- they said you can tweet and gossip about the over-the-top feisty babies` mamas.
It should be known that the term "baby`s mama" is a slur.
HAMMER: Yes.
LAMB: It`s an attack on the sanctity of children. You know, I think with the 30,000 people with our petition are doing around the world, they`re trying to refocused world to how brilliant -- and our duty to protect children and nurture and to love them.
HAMMER: Yes. And a point I`ve always made about reality shows and children back to the days of "Jon and Kate Plus 8" is they have no say in this, and this is going to be out there for the rest of their lives.
But for the first time, we have Shawty Lo responding to your petition and all the controversy over "All My Babies` Mamas." And quite frankly, it makes me uncomfortable just saying the name of the show. He was on New York radio station Hot 97 and tried to, in his own eloquent way, explain. Roll that, Chaz.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
SHAWTY LO, RAPPER: I been hearing a lot of people, like, saying like you know, talking about me and my kids whatever. But like I say, there`s a lot of fathers don`t take care of one, you know. I take care of 11. I`m hands on with my kids. You know, before people were even talking about a show. Before a show or after a show, you know, I`m hands on with my kids.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: OK. Sabrina, does that do anything to make you feel like this show could be any better than you think it`s going to be?
LAMB: I needed subtitles to understand what he said. I just did.
But you know, "take care of kids" does not mean that they`re in the same room with you. Having serial, unprotected sex to -- with women who you are not emotionally connected or bonded with, and doing that and engaging in female power struggles for your attention is not, quote, "taking care" of your kids.
HAMMER: Well, it will be very interesting to see what happens. Unless, in my mind, if they don`t show consequences or if they in any way glamorize what`s going on here in Shawty`s world, I just don`t see how this is a good thing.
I want to move on to our No. 2 shocker in the SHOWBIZ Countdown TONIGHT. Also involves a rapper and another music superstar. Mariah Carey AND Nicki Minaj. Yes, for the very first time, Mariah speaking out about her fellow "American Idol" judge, Nicki Minaj. Mariah, of course, has accused Nicki of threatening to shoot her during "Idol" auditions.
And Mariah opens up on a brand-new interview with Barbara Walters on ABC`s "Nightline," and she confirms that, after Minaj`s alleged backstage threat, she actually did go out and hire some additional security for her and her two children.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BARBARA WALTERS, ABC NEWS: Did you take what she said seriously?
MARIAH CAREY, JUDGE, "AMERICAN IDOL": It felt like an unsafe work environment. Any time anybody`s reeling threats at somebody, you know, that`s just -- it`s not appropriate. I mean, I`ve got two babies. I`m not going to take any chances, so yes, I did hire more security. I just felt it was the appropriate thing to do.
WALTERS: Do you think this fight is detracting from "American Idol"?
CAREY: I think it`s a classic, classy show, and it didn`t need this. I really think it was just a crass moment.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Point out that Nicki Minaj has repeatedly denied threatening to shoot Mariah Carey.
I want to bring in celebrity publicist Kita Williams, too, right now. Kita, we`re talking about extra security here. We`re talking backstage, taking care of Mariah after these threats, bodyguards working with what was essentially a workplace spat. Here`s our big countdown question. Is Mariah overreacting?
KITA WILLIAMS, CELEBRITY PUBLICIST: I believe Mariah is being Mariah. Mariah always takes things to the highest level. So of course, her hiring more security is nothing out of the norm for her.
I mean, personally right now, we`re see the messages that guns are sending, and any type of verbal threat, anybody would take seriously. And for Mariah to hire extra security, I`m not surprised that she didn`t get a -- you know, a bulletproof bustier or something like that.
But I don`t think that she`s, you know, doing anything that would be unnatural for anyone that would feel uncomfortable. But I think the biggest threat for her was the fact that she wasn`t the only female as an "American Idol" judge.
HAMMER: Yes.
WILLIAMS: I think that`s where she felt threatened.
HAMMER: I absolutely agree with you. There are people out there saying that perhaps Mariah Carey is overreacting, but it is Mariah being Mariah. And look, if she wants to do whatever she feels she needs to do to protect herself and her kids, then more power -- power to her.
I want to get right now to today`s biggest "SHOWBIZ Shocker." This is No. 1 on our SHOWBIZ Countdown.
"The Today Show`s" Al Roker admitting to pooping in his pants. Yes, I just said that.
Al told this rather messy story during an interview on Sunday`s "Dateline" about his gastric bypass surgery. Al says that he once made the mistake of straying from his post-surgery diet, and he paid the price in the worst possible way and at the worst possible place. He was at the White House. Watch this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
AL ROKER, NBC`S "TODAY SHOW": When you have a bypass, and you know, your bowel has been reconstructed, you think you`re pretty safe. And I probably went off and ate something I wasn`t supposed to. And as I`m walking to the press room, I`ve got to, you know, pass a little gas. And I`m walking by myself. Who`s going to know? Only a little something extra came out.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You pooped in your pants.
ROKER: I pooped my pants. Not horribly, but enough that I knew.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Which is a common side effect of the surgery.
ROKER: Exactly.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: OK. Al, you know I love you, right, man? This makes me so incredibly uncomfortable. But I get what you`re saying here, and I commend you for getting real about the importance of diet for people who have had gastric bypass surgery. I guess I`m just not all that comfortable with the potty talk.
Let me bring in Bryan Safi. He`s an editor for FunnyorDie.com. Bryan, the big countdown question is this. We all love Al Roker. There`s no question about that. But did we really need to hear about Al pooping his pants at the White House?
BRYAN SAFI, EDITOR, FUNNYORDIE.COM: I mean, Al Roker is living the worst- case scenario. Sharting in your pants at the White House. I can`t think of -- money can buy a lot of things: happiness, weight loss. It cannot buy bowel control. And there is no reason we needed to know this, as far as I`m concerned.
HAMMER: So Bryan, the benefit of him basically sharing with the world -- and I`m trying to look at the positive in this. You know, that if you go through this procedure, you`ve really got to pay attention to your diet. And I`m going to show you in the most extreme way. That does not outweigh the fact that he actually made us hear all of that.
SAFI: Hey, I`m all about awareness. I just don`t know that I want to be looking at Al Roker`s face when I`m, you know, hearing about that awareness. But I love the guy. And you know, it`s a terrible complication.
HAMMER: Kita, a little too cringe-worthy for television in your mind?
WILLIAMS: You know, that`s a little bit too much information, but I guess they say if it looks like and smells like, then obviously that means you pooed your pants instead of letting gas go.
But I mean, my big thing is that you know, when you`re sharing information, there are some things that`s crossing the line.
HAMMER: Yes.
WILLIAMS: And I guess for Al Roker, he`s sending a very smelly message to let us know be careful where you pass gas.
HAMMER: Are we really having this conversation? All right. I`ve got to go. Kita, Bryan, thanks, guys.
We move now from Al`s ick moment to a moment that is plucking ridiculous. A star of MTV`s "Teen Mom" reveals that she waxed her 3-year-old daughter`s unibrow. Yes, we`ve got another fired-up SHOWBIZ Countdown you don`t want to miss: "Brilliant or Bananas?" Or will this fumble on live TV take the top spot?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Go ahead. I`m not going to get in trouble. It worked in practice. Let`s just say.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: It`s the SHOWBIZ Countdown, "Brilliant or Bananas?" What is going to be No. 1?
This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, on HLN. That`s got to hurt.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: OK. So do you remember this scary skinny photo of Matthew McConaughey? The "Magic Mike" star hit an all-time low in body fat when he got down to an astounding 135 pounds for a movie role. He was playing an AIDS patient.
And now in a brand-new interview with SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, Matthew`s opening up about exactly how he was able to psych himself up to do it, and exactly how he rewarded himself once he finished shooting the movie. I can`t wait to hear that.
With me now from Hollywood, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s Nischelle Turner. So Nischelle, whittling yourself down to 135 pounds when you`re a man of his size, not for the faint of heart. How did he do it?
NISCHELLE TURNER, HLN CORRESPONDENT: No, the faint of heart, or smart of heart, A.J., you`re right. McConaughey really took some extreme measures to lose weight for his starring role in "The Dallas Buyers Club," a drama about Ron Woodruff, a real-life Texas electrician who contracted HIV in the `80s through IV drug use. It`s gotten him big-time Oscar buzz.
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT was right there last night in New York, where McConaughey was awarded best supporting actor by the New York Film Critics Circle for his role. And he shared with us how he lost all that weight under a doctor`s close supervision and why getting so skinny was so important to him. Take a look.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY, ACTOR: If I wouldn`t have got down to that weight to play that character as truthfully as I could, I would have been embarrassed for myself. Because my job is to go emulate the life of someone else. And that`s what I was doing.
So it wasn`t honestly -- it was a difficult shore (ph), take a distant shore. But after I decided I was going to do it -- I say it all this time: once you run into the inevitable, get relative.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
TURNER: Wow. Just looking at him there, that -- that picture is amazing, A.J. I can`t even imagine denying myself one day, let alone months of being deprived of all the things I love to eat.
HAMMER: Yes. Yes. Pretty amazing. Obviously, he has so much discipline, and he`s a professional. But what I`ve really been dying to know is how did he reward himself after he finished shooting the movie. Did he just pig out?
TURNER: This is good. Because reward himself he did. Listen to what he told us about that.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MCCONAUGHEY: I had a cheeseburger first thing. And I doozied it up for over 22 minutes before I touched it. It was in front of me, but wouldn`t touch it until I had it just right. And it was just as good as I hoped it was.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: I say good for you, Matthew. Sounds like he enjoyed every bite of that burger.
Let me bring in Julie Klausner. She`s a correspondent with Vulture.com.
So Julie, apparently, listening to Matthew, it took him 22 minutes to dig into that burger. Now, I`m not a hamburger guy, but I would have eaten the fattiest, biggest, juiciest thing in a second. What about you?
JULIE KLAUSNER, VULTURE.COM: Oh, yes, no question, absolutely. I don`t know if I would have been able to wait 22 minutes. I have some questions about whether or not it got cold. I mean, it`s not a frigging souffle, either. It`s fast food. Right? Twenty-two minutes seems a little excessive.
But look, you`ve got to do what you`ve got to do. Maybe it`s anticipation. Maybe he built it up.
HAMMER: Hopefully, the ketchup came right out of the bottle as quickly as he needed it to.
KLAUSNER: I pray that it did.
HAMMER: McConaughey, by the way, not the only star who`s making big news out of Hollywood today in big confessions about weight loss.
Brand-new mom, Oscar-winning actress Drew Barrymore, reveals in a new interview that`s out today in "Good Housekeeping" that she`s in no rush to lose the baby weight after she gave birth to her daughter, Olive back in October.
Let me read what she says: "I`m still working on it, but I`m not worrying about it. We live in a society where everyone is, like, `Look how amazing she looks two weeks out from giving birth.` I don`t want to be on that hamster wheel. That`s hell. I`m never going to have the kind of body that makes me excited about bikini season. I`ve never had a beach body, but I want to feel like I`m showing up and doing my best. My goal is to be nice to myself, gentle toward myself, during this process. It`s such a sacred time."
Julie, I listen to that, I read those words, I`m thinking hooray for Drew. I mean, how terrific of her that she`s just being honest, candid, open and saying what I think millions of moms across the country are cheering her on for right now about not losing the baby weight.
KLAUSNER: Absolutely. I was with her down to the word "sacred." Then I kind of lost her. But absolutely, it`s a great sentiment.
I do think she`s a good role model for her daughter and other -- for other women who have a hard time losing weight or don`t particularly feel like it moments after they`ve given birth.
That said, were we all as blessed as Drew Barrymore with that gene pool, I think it would be a little bit easier for us to accept ourselves.
HAMMER: Yes. Well, you know, the one thing that I think we`ve always loved about Drew Barrymore, not just as a Hollywood star but as a human being, is she`s so human. She really has always transcended what it is to be big Hollywood. She`s just a cool woman that...
KLAUSNER: Yes.
HAMMER: ... I think we all want to be friends with.
POSNER (PH): No question.
HAMMER: All right. Julie Klausner, thank you so much.
KLAUSNER: Thanks for having me.
HAMMER: Let`s move on now to baby Kim-ye`s $11 million crib. Now here, I`m talking crib as in mansion. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West reportedly bought a house that could be bigger than all the houses on your block combined. That`s just one story that made the cut for tonight`s SHOWBIZ Countdown, "Brilliant or Bananas?"
But will Kim-ye beat out Taylor`s new reported breakup? Yes, that`s right. Taylor Swift may be a single lady again. Is that "Brilliant or Bananas"? Which buzz-making story will top our SHOWBIZ Countdown.
It is time now for the SHOWBIZ TONIGHT buzz. Here`s what the SHOWBIZ staff is buzzing all about this week.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
HAMMER: Carrie before the "twos." We can`t wait for the Carrie diaries. Now, this is the prequel to "Sex and the City." The new show and series premiers on the CW on January 14.
I love this. I was playing it with -- playing it this afternoon. Songza, a free music streaming service that recommends playlists based on your mood, activities, of even time of day.
Got a Trekkie alert for you. The "Star Trek" Into Darkness app full of cool features. The best thing is, you can use the app to enter to win a trip to "Star Trek: Into Darkness" premier in May.
Well, we`ve already locked in our July 4 weekend plans. That`s because a hot line-up for the Essence Music Festival has just been announced: Jill Scott, L.L. Cool Jay and a whole lot more will be hitting the stage in New Orleans.
And "Justified" is back on FX with tonight`s debut of season four.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He`s been investigated so many times, internal affairs got him on speed dial.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It`s a gift.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Maybe so much is planned (ph). We`re going to put you down.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Don`t matter to me.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
ALANA THOMPSON, REALITY TV STAR: Look, Mama, I just ate it.
JUNE THOMPSON, REALITY TV STAR: (UNINTELLIGIBLE) Get it away from me for real!
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Honey Boo-Boo`s mom may have an irrational fear of mayonnaise, but she is one smart cookie when it comes to her family`s future.
Tonight, is Mama June the smartest reality mom on TV? Yes, Mama June actually seems to be taking a page from Warren Buffett. Mama June tells TMZ that she divides the reality show paycheck evenly and puts the money in a trust fund. The five daughters get access to the funds when they are 21 years old.
BusinessInsider.com breaks it down. If the family gets $18,000 an episode, at ten episodes a season, that`s $36,000 for each girl, and not a bad chunk of change.
With me in New York, entertainment journalist Sarah Bernard, entertainment journalist. You know, Sarah, some people are very surprised that Mama June is wise enough to do something like this. But in my mind, this is what all reality parents should be doing.
SARAH BERNARD, ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALIST: Absolutely. It`s what everyone should be doing. Mama June is smarter than a lot of the 1 percenters out there.
Basically, she is giving Kris Kardashian a run for her money. She knows exactly how to take care of her family and build a little empire. I am so impressed with the fact that she`s actually done this.
And not only has she set it up this way, but she doesn`t actually even get the checks. She says TLC deposits it directly into these trust funds. So she just sees a statement that this has actually happened.
HAMMER: Good for her. I`m listening to you talking, but I can`t take my eyes off this new blonde `do that she`s got with the straight hair. Maybe she`s catching on Hollywood big buzz just a little bit. Watch this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Hubba bubba. Sexy mama now. June is like a blonde bombshell. Va-va-voom.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yes, look at that, before, after. You know, she just got that haircut, but I don`t see her going all Hollywood on us and getting -- I don`t know -- plastic surgery.
BERNARD: Absolutely.
HAMMER: Remember Kate Gosselin after she got on reality TV.
I also don`t see her wanting to become a solo star. She`s always made it all about her daughter and her girls. Since she`s keeping it so real, Sarah, is it far-fetched, am I crazy to say that Honey Boo-Boo`s mom is now on track to becoming the best reality TV mom ever?
BERNARD: It certainly seems like it. I mean, it -- but then again, it`s not exactly like she had a lot of competition. Pretty much every reality star has gone the way of, like, a lottery winner. Right? You get all this money, and then suddenly, you read about them having the opposite kind of life. Right? Totally down on their luck.
So predictably would be that she was totally irresponsible with her family. She`s surprising us all.
And I think this is why I love the show so much. I think the joke is on us. I think she knows what she`s doing. She turned down Rosie O`Donnell`s offer a while back to get a totally new house.
HAMMER: Right.
BERNARD: Because she knows that she needs to stay the kind of likeable, sweet family that they are.
HAMMER: Yes.
BERNARD: But embrace the perks.
HAMMER: She needs to stay who she is. All right, Sarah, thanks so much.
Coming up tonight, how can a compliment go from zero to kind of creepy in seconds? Well, it happened on live TV during the biggest college football game of them all.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BRENT MUSBURGER, ESPN SPORTSCASTER: Wow, I`m telling you, you quarterbacks, you get all the good-looking women. That is -- what a beautiful woman. Wow.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Nice. That`s legendary sportscaster Brent Musburger giving color commentary a whole new meaning with his comments about the girlfriend of Alabama`s quarterback during the BCS game. You`ve got to see this.
Plus, it`s the SHOWBIZ Countdown, "Brilliant or Bananas?" The star of MTV`s "Teen Mom" reveals that she waxed her 3-year-old daughter`s unibrow. What?
And new details about Ryan Lochte; he is diving into reality TV. Is that brilliant or is it bananas? Only one buzz-making story can be No. 1. Which will it be? SHOWBIZ Countdown is fired up next.
This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MUSBURGER: Wow, I`m telling you, you quarterbacks, you get all the good- looking women. That is -- what a beautiful woman. Wow.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Right now, talk about stealing the spotlight. Her quarterback boyfriend just won the biggest game in college football. But all eyes were on her. So what`s the real story behind this beauty bombshell?
Plus, it`s the SHOWBIZ Countdown. Did a "Teen Mom" star really wax her 3- year-old`s eyebrows? Is that "Brilliant or Bananas"? Well, what about this?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
LEE VALSVIK, KARE TV REPORTER: Go ahead. I am not going to get in trouble. I worked and practiced.
HAMMER: Caught on tape a live TV tackle.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
There is steep competition for the top spot on tonight`s countdown of the stories that have us asking is that "Brilliant or Bananas?" What will be No. 1?
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT continues right now.
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Thank you for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer.
And in the SHOWBIZ Countdown tonight we are here and ready to reveal the top five buzz making stories breaking today that made us ask "Brilliant or Bananas?"
Let`s get into it and kick it off at No. 5 with Taylor Swift`s latest breakup.
Oh, yes. Taylor Swift and One Direction`s, Harry Styles, are reportedly heading it different directions. That was fast, right? (INAUDIBLE) last maybe two months.
One guy who saw this coming way before it happened is "American Idol" Season Nine alum, Tim Urban. Take a look at the breakup song that Tim actually he pre-wrote for Taylor Swift when Taylor first latched onto her new 18-year-old beau.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
TIM URBAN, "AMERICAN IDOL" SESSION NINE ALUM (singing): Long hair, you know I have a weakness for that. And the silly way you wore those hats. How he knows just what to say to make me think that I felt that way
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Oh great (INAUDIBLE) Tim Urban. Man, you nailed it.
Tim right here in New York tonight with the SHOWBIZ Newsmaker Interview. It`s great to see you.
URBAN: It`s good to be here.
HAMMER: You called this one. Let me remind everyone that Harry Styles is really joining some pretty illustrious company after this breakup.
Taylor Swift`s boyfriend history kind of reads like a who`s who of young Hollywood. Reportedly 13 famous guys in the last four years alone, Tim.
URBAN: Wow.
HAMMER: So, let`s watch this together. We`re going to scroll this full list on screen and we`ll take a moment.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
Taylor`s lengthy list of exes. Reportedly 13 hunks in just four years. Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, Lucas Till, John Mayer, Cory Monteith, Toby Hemingway, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zac Efron, Garrett Hedlund, Eddie Redmayne, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Conor Kennedy, Harry Styles.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: You know, in a couple years, that`s going to be as long as credits from "Avatar."
I`m guessing that Taylor`s long list of exes made you think that when you first wrote that song, "Hey, I can`t miss here."
URBAN: You know, I had an idea that, you know, eventually they wouldn`t work out. You know, I had a hunch. I guess you could say.
HAMMER: Man, you got it totally right. And look I am sure you`re not gloating about the fact that this relationship has come to an end, nobody wants to do that about a breakup.
But please tell me now what went through your head when you first heard this breaking news that Taylor and Harry were apparently done. Were you kind of maybe at least in your own mind for a moment strutting around saying knew it, told you so.
URBAN: Not really. I mean, honestly like a lot of people, I don`t think I ever thought it was going to make it all the way. You know, I figured they would break up at some point. I was more kind of surprised that it happened so quickly because I felt like just a couple weeks ago they were getting together and then they`re already broken up.
So, I was just more surprised of how fast it happened. That was honestly my reaction. I mean, well I thought, well I`ll probably get a little more people interested in my video, but other than that, I mean, I was just surprised how quickly it happened.
HAMMER: Have you seen the hit count rise on your video since the news broke?
URBAN: It just cracked the 300,000 mark. Yes, it has gone up a bit.
HAMMER: And when we hear that she`s dating someone else, will you quickly put pen to paper and get the next song ready?
URBAN: I think I`ll get asked to. I think my fans will be wondering where that song is. I mean, I didn`t plan this one. So, I have no idea. Another one might happen, who knows.
HAMMER: You could make an album of this.
I want to bring in Vulture.com correspondent, Julie Klausner.
Yet another Taylor Swift breakup. "Brilliant or Bananas?"
KLAUSNER: I say brilliant. I mean these are all (INAUDIBLE) for the millions for Taylor Swift. We`re just concerned she`ll funnel it into a new song. Good for her. Onward and upward.
HAMMER: Good for her. Good for our friend Tim, I guess.
(INAUDIBLE) Bryan Safi also with us tonight from Hollywood. Brian, "Brilliant or Bananas?"
SAFI: This is completely brilliant. Taylor Swift calls a blow up by the first draft. She is ready to go at all times with this kind of thing. I love it. I was hoping they would come out with a line of hair products or something, like hair straightener, but it doesn`t look like it`s going to happen.
HAMMER: No, I don`t think so.
Tim Urban, just tell me what do you think? Is she going to date another pop star? What`s next in your mind?
URBAN: That`s a tough one. If I had to make a guess, I would say actor, but I don`t know. Obviously nobody knows. That`s my guess.
HAMMER: It`s got to be somebody in the public eye. Maybe that`s the problem.
Well, we move from Taylor Swift`s breakup to the MTV`s "Teen Mom" was getting serious flack tonight and I am not surprised for one bit. This is No. 4 on our "Brilliant or Bananas" countdown.
This outrageous video today of "Teen Mom`s" star, Farrah Abraham, waxing her three-year-old daughter, Sophia`s unibrow. I`m not kidding. She really did this.
This is the "Teen Mom" star who is known really for worrying more about her own looks than her parenting skills. Case in point, she just spent a reported $16,000 on plastic surgery. Take a look at Farrah in action.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DEBRA DENIELSON (ph), "TEEN MOM" MOTHER: Hello.
FARRAH ABRAHAM: Hello, mom. Sophia had a great idea to take her marker and draw all over in her room. And she has done stupid things like this all day today.
Do you want to talk to grandma, Soph? Yes, here, talk to grandma.
DANIELSON (ph): What are you doing?
ABRAHAM: Say, being bad, grandma.
DANIELSON (ph): Why are you so upset, baby?
ABRAHAM: Well, mom, who wouldn`t be upset if their mom was pissed off at them all day?
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: OK. Maybe not the best approach to handling your toddler.
Julie, back to you. What do you think "Brilliant or Bananas" for Farrah to wax her little girl`s unibrow? Because I had to tell you as ridiculous as this is to me, I pulled back from it today. I gave it some thought and I`m thinking maybe some moms might say that she just wanted her daughter to feel pretty. I don`t know.
KLAUSNER: Yes, those seem like really great moms. It is one thing to wax your child as discipline. It is another to do it while cameras are pointed at you.
HAMMER: Yes, I don`t want to hear about waxing their child as discipline either.
But Farrah blogged about this entire unibrow incident. And get this, she wrote that Sophia started crying because the wax hurt. So she decided to finish the job while her daughter was sleeping. Isn`t that nice?
Listen to what she wrote. And I have to tell you there are a bunch of typos on her blog. It`s not our graphics people. "Sophia fell asleep. I got my tweezers and pluck-pluck-pluck.Soph was not saying ouch or anything and still was asleep. I got most of it off and then finally she woke up.Ah I feel like a good mom. Other moms tell me your ideas."
Brian, she says she`s a good mom there. Listen I`m going to go on record right now to say that I think this is purely and strictly bananas. Are you with me?
SAFI: It is pretty bananas. But I kind of disagree. I think she`s a great mom because it`s my kind of mom who will enter their kids into pageants. So, this kid needs to get used to like hair extensions, wigs, clippers, spray tans and then might as well.
(CROSSTALK)
. unibrow.
KLAUSNER: Never too early.
SAFI: It is never too early.
HAMMER: OK. So, she`s laying the ground work. Got you. So, while Farrah Abraham was making what I think at least is a highly questionable call on her reality show, now we have Olympic swimming champ, Ryan Lochte, landing a reality show of his own.
No. 3 on the SHOWBIZ`s "Brilliant or Bananas" Countdown, Ryan Lochte`s big splash. Now, we just learned that what would Ryan Lochte do is going to air on "E!"
It`s going to follow the swimming champ as he gears up for the 2016 Olympics in Rio. But we`ve got to ask, is it really a good idea to give this guy who made this funny (INAUDIBLE) spoof his own show?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
RYAN LOCHTE, OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST: Kids, pee in the pool. But I can`t stress this enough do not ever poop in the pool. Just don`t do it. Pee. Good. Poopy, no. I won`t tell anyone if you do. If you poop in the pool, they shut down the whole pool, then I can`t pee because I pee in pools.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Ryan is obviously joking, very funny. But it`s the same guy who`s pretty famous for putting his foot in his mouth during just about every interview he does.
Julie, is Ryan Lochte doing a reality show "Brilliant or Bananas" to you?
KLAUSNER: It is brilliant only if it is like the Yule Log and (INAUDIBLE) just be sure it was in showering on a loop all day and saying nothing at all.
HAMMER: I don`t think that`s the plan. But Bryan, you know, the guy getting ready for the Olympics. Do we need to see him having cameras following him around?
SAFI: I`m with Julie here. I think if he is shirtless let`s follow him to the ends of the earth. I don`t really know what he has to add to the TV landscape. I think soon reality shows will just be someone staring at you because I think he is one step below that.
HAMMER: OK. I am sure there are plenty of shirtless pictures of Ryan on the internet, on the inner (ph) web.
You can download them. Put them on the desktop on your computers, your screen savers. Everybody will be just fine. But here`s the thing if a "Teen Mom" waxing her three-year-old`s unibrow and Ryan Lochte doing a reality show aren`t No. 1 on the "Brilliant or Bananas" countdown, what possibly could be?
I can tell you there is a major show down ahead.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
VALSVIK: Go ahead. I am not going to get in trouble. I worked and practice.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: So, is this wild, caught on tape moment of a local reporter getting decked topping the countdown? Or will Kim Kardashian and Kanye West`s reported move to buy an $11 million mansion as she waits to give birth going to take top spot? Our big reveal is coming up next.
Kimye certainly flies in first class when they`re travelling. Of course they do they`re not flying private anyway. But even they might be surprised to hear this.
Confessions of a flight attendant. What is the secret to getting that first class upgrade? What`s really in that airline coffee you ordered?
Still ahead. Mid air secrets that are stirring up a frenzy online. This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
VALSVIK: Go ahead. I`m not going to get in trouble. I worked and practice.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yes, I don`t think that was the plan in practice. Caught on tape, a local reporter getting nailed while doing this live shot about the Minnesota Vikings. This thing is going crazy viral tonight.
Welcome back tonight in the SHOWBIZ Countdown, the top five buzz making stories that made us say "Brilliant or Bananas."
Here`s where we are so far. No. 5, Taylor Swift, she broke up again. That`s right. Her two month romance with British boy band star, Harry Styles, is reportedly already over.
And No. 4, "Teen Mom," Farrah Abraham, stirs major controversy by waxing her three-year-old`s unibrow. Then blogs that it makes her feel like a great mom. Strange to me.
At No. 3, Ryan Lochte, the Olympic swimmer who of course is known for always saying the wrong thing now gets his own reality show so he can say a lot more of that maybe. And that brings us to No. 2 on our SHOWBIZ Countdown, "Brilliant or Bananas."
This poor reporter who, ouch, I mean that can`t feel good. She got seriously tackled just doing a live shot. A story about the Minnesota Vikings happening. This is happening in a Minneapolis bar.
It doesn`t look like any drinking was involved. The bar seems to be empty. KARE TV`s, Lee Valsvik, was out there. Her cameraman was trying to show off a move that he hoped the Vikings would play out.
And that person accidentally flattened her. Look at that. All right. Well, she screamed out that she was OK right after the hit.
But let me bring back Bryan Safi in Hollywood. He`s a writer-director at the great "Funny or Die," and he is also co-host of the Podcast "Throwing Shade."
Vulture.com reporter Julie Klausner is also with us. She`s in New York.
Julie, let me start with you because I cringe when I watch that. I feel for my reporter, brethren or sister whatever I should call her. But she was just fine after she took that hit.
So, was it "Brilliant or Bananas" they even tried this move on camera in the first place? It just doesn`t seem well conceived.
KLAUSNER: You know, it seems like bananas but actually brilliant because this clip is going to be played - I mean, you guys have played it like 17 times in the last ten seconds. You know how hard it is to get a video that viral? She should be thrilled that she could take a hit.
HAMMER: There`s 18, here comes number 19. We`ll keep playing this.
KLAUSNER: Oh, I know you will.
HAMMER: Bryan, what do you think about this? Because to Julie`s point the video is putting KARE TV and this reporter on the map all around the world. So, do you think it`s a brilliant move on their part or maybe, conspiracy theories might say, it`s a cheap way to get some attention?
SAFI: I mean, it is absolutely a cheap way to get some attention, but it`s also brilliant. I think maybe she was the only one not in on the joke, I think it was completely planned.
They hit her so hard. They put her in a jersey that says 69. I mean, this whole thing seems like it was like guaranteed to be huge and it certainly is. And you have played this clip honestly 50 times.
KLAUSNER: Yes, I think it`s like 75 at this point.
HAMMER: It is really funny. All right, play it again, Charles. Because it`s funny I haven`t even noticed the jersey. And of course, Bryan, thank you for pointing that out.
Although you look at the look on her face, and she does not look like she knows this is coming. You would kind of see -- unless she`s an amazing actress, to see her bracing or something like that. So, I`m going to give her a pass on this. I don`t think that it was intentional at least that she was involved, but who knows.
So many amazing buzz making stories tonight that we`ve been talking about. They`ve been making us ask "Brilliant or Bananas." But we all know there can only be one No. 1 on our SHOWBIZ Countdown.
Brand new report out today that parents to be Kim Kardashian and Kanye West - it`s still funny for me to see them together knowing they`re having a baby. Well, apparently they`re dropping 11 million bucks on a Bel Air mansion. The palace that they are buying reportedly 10,000 square feet.
Obviously it would have plenty of room for two stars and a newborn. But Julie, is it "Brilliant or Bananas?" I was wondering this. Because at first I`m thinking they should buy whatever they want. But is it a great idea for a couple who have both had with a series of commitment issues to be buying a home together at all, let alone such an expensive home?
KLAUSNER: I don`t think this is a couple that invests in permanence. I also think that this is the essence of bananas. Because money means nothing to them, marriage means nothing to them, babies mean nothing to them. What makes a difference at the end of the day, like what is in their reality? We have no idea.
HAMMER: Bryan, do you agree?
SAFI: I do agree. I think it is completely bananas. And they make me feel crazy because for some reason, $11 million coming from them seems like nothing. I would have expected them to buy like an $80 million home.
KLAUSNER: Yes. Like $11 million is like their tic-tac budget.
HAMMER: Well, let`s remember to Bel Air the tax bill will be about 200 grand a year.
All right, Julie, Bryan, thank you both for being here. And I`m thinking that Kim K. may want to watch out because another gorgeous woman is stealing the spotlight these days.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MUSBURGER: I am telling you you quarterbacks, you get all the good-looking women. What a beautiful woman. Wow.
HAMMER: How do you really feel, Brent Musburger? This was only the biggest game in college football. So, why are all the eyes on the quarterback`s girl friend? The story on the beauty who stole the show is coming up next. Wait until you hear what Brent got to say.
This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
Well, the story was supposed to be how Alabama beat out Notre Dame last night for its second straight national championship. Instead the headline for this big trending story today has been about the quarterback`s girlfriend and how she stole the show.
This happened during the biggest game in college football. Twenty-three year old Katherine Webb, who is Miss Alabama last year is the girlfriend of Alabama quarterback, A.J. McCarron, and she literally stole the show when the game`s announcer, Brent Musburger, couldn`t help fawning over her all through the game. Listen to this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MUSBURGER: You see that lovely lady there, she does go to Auburn, (INAUDIBLE), but she`s also Miss Alabama. And that`s A.J. McCarron`s girlfriend, OK? And right there on the right is Dee Dee Bonner. That`s A.J.`s mom. Well, I`m telling you, you quarterbacks, you get all the good- looking women. What a beautiful woman. Wow.
KIRK HERBSTREIT, ESPN ANALYST: A.J. is doing some things right.
MUSBURGER: So, if you`re a youngster in Alabama, start getting that football out, throw it around the backyard with pops.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: All right, thank you so much. Back with me in New York is Sarah Bernard. She`s an entertainment journalist.
I mean, I`m listening to Brent there, Sarah. Obviously the guy is pretty infatuated with this young woman. I think he genuinely has a crush on the quarterback`s girlfriend and just couldn`t control himself.
BERNARD: I don`t think he is the only person that has a crush on Katherine Webb at this point. You know, after she got so much attention, she became the second most searched Google term last night. And not only that, she has a modest Twitter following.
At this point she has 140 Twitter followers more than her boyfriend even. So, I think, you know, he was one of many that got very interested in Katherine Webb all of a sudden.
HAMMER: Yes. And look, she had you mentioned the Twitter followers just a few hundred before it went up in the course of a few hours to this 150,000, which is pretty incredible. I have to imagine her boyfriend not so happy about this.
Arizona Cardinal`s defensive end, Darnell Dockett, tweeted her his number and suggested that they meet after the game. The problem is he meant for this to be private. He sent it to all his followers.
BERNARD: I love that. That`s one of the most amazing things you can do on Twitter, right? He thought he was direct messaging her but actually he tweeted his own phone number to all his followers.
HAMMER: I am so careful before I ever push the send button on a Twitter message. Why do you think this story has gone crazy so crazy thought? It`s pretty incredible to me.
BERNARD: Well, I mean, obviously there wasn`t much to talk about in the way of competition. So, people like myself who aren`t so interested in football now have another story line here. I think this is actually far more interesting. This reminds me of the sort of Gisele, Tom Brady kind of stuff, that for people who are not such hardcore football fans, you know, it gives us something to follow.
HAMMER: I guess so. It was just wild also watching the game, how often they would cut to her. I wonder if Brent had anything to do with that.
BERNARD: Yes, I don`t know.
HAMMER: I want to move now from one big story that`s trending today to another. It`s the confessions of a flight attendant. I actually thought this was a terrific read.
A New York travel website is revealing some pretty big secrets from flight attendants about their trade. It`s stuff that we all think about.
But here are a couple of the things they`re saying. They pass off decafe coffee for regular coffee. So, guests will sleep and not press the call button so much. Oh, my goodness. It`s like sedating us.
BERNARD: Yes.
HAMMER: Also I want to point out they say that if a flight is going to be late anyway some flight attendants say they have no problem delaying it even further to make sure that overtime pay kicks in.
And if you want an upgrade to first class it helps to be very nice, well dressed, pregnant, tall, good-looking. Why do you think this is trending so much? Are (ph) people surprised or is it because it confirms their worst fears?
BERNARD: I think it confirms a lot of the things that we obviously think. Now, you know, I have a little bit of sympathy because flying is just stressful for anyone.
I am not the best flyer. I am sure I am totally stressed out and not everyone is on their best behaviour to stewardesses when they need something. On the other hand, you are paying a lot of money for these tickets and sometimes it just seems like you`re treated pretty rudely.
HAMMER: Sometimes, yes. I got to tell you I have been handed bottles of champagne as I walk off of flights.
BERNARD: That`s because you`re tall and handsome.
HAMMER: I always smile and it`s never very good champagne. Sarah Bernard, thanks so much.
Well, your tray table can stay in its upright position. But you may want to fasten your seatbelt because the race to crown SHOWBIZ TONIGHT`s most provocative celebrity of the day is about to take off.
Will it be a pop diva, a "Teen Mom"? We name the most provocative celebrity of the day, next. You don`t want to miss it.
This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
All right. Now, it is time for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT to name the most provocative celebrity of the day.
We saw a David and Goliath battle of Hollywood heavyweights, versus some lesser known reality TV stars. You have Mariah Carey`s "American Idol" feud confessions, taking on the "Teen Mom" who waxed her three-year-old`s brow. But neither of them can possibly beat this immerging reality TV star.
Rapper Shawty Lo, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT names you the most provocative celebrity of the day.
Shawty`s TV show isn`t even on the air yet. It`s a special for the Oxygen Network it`s called "All My Babies` Mamas." And it`s supposed to feature Shawty`s 11 children by 10 different women.
Shawty has admitted that he was a little out of control before his music career kicked off. But now he is just trying to be a responsible dad and trying to take care of his kids. And I got to say at least he is trying to do right by his family. But I must tell you, I hear about this special, and I`m not buying that this reality show was best way to do that.
Right now a provocative new documentary is making waves. "Sexy Baby" reveals how today`s easy access to porn is affecting young girls. What can parents do to keep their kids from being overexposed?
"DR. DREW" digs in to that dilemma right now.
