(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MICHELLE OBAMA, FIRST LADY OF THE UNITED STATES: "Argo", congratulations.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
A.J. HAMMER, HOST: Tonight on the "SHOWBIZ Countdown," "Oscar Secrets Unmasked," including the real story behind the first lady`s shocking Oscar appearance.
Plus how did Chris Brown take Oscar host Seth MacFarlane`s super mean joke about him? And who`s to blame for Jennifer Lawrence`s stunning stage dive? Only one Oscar secret can be No. 1. Which will it be?
Hello and thank you for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer in Hollywood tonight after spending a long night covering the Oscars. But wow, what a good time it was.
And I`ve been working all day today just to uncover for you the secret stories about the biggest Oscar shockers. So let`s get to it. Kicking off with our first big "SHOWBIZ Countdown" of the night, the top five secrets we unmasked today. Kicking it off with No. 5, the Obama bombshell.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JACK NICHOLSON, ACTOR: From the White House, the first lady of the United States, Michelle Obama.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: I never thought I`d see that in my life. I can tell you, nobody saw it coming: Jack introducing first lady Michelle Obama live from the White House to present the Best Picture Oscar to "Argo."
But what is the top-secret story behind that actually happening? How in the world did they pull that off?
With me tonight in Hollywood, the fabulous co-host of "The Talk," Sheryl Underwood, is here. So is Yahoo! Movies` contributing editor, Thelma Adams, and TV personality and fashion mogul Daisy Fuentes joining us from New York tonight.
So ladies, it turns out Michelle Obama`s appearance was the result of a top-secret mission. I`m here now to unmask this Oscar secret for you.
The idea to have Mrs. Obama actually present at the Oscars reportedly was first hatched by Hollywood heavyweight Harvey Weinstein and his daughter. Now, Harvey took that idea to the producers of the Oscars. Of course, they loved that idea, and they secretly somehow worked out the details with the White House.
Ironically, one of the producers tells "The Hollywood Reporter" that the whole thing was kind of like the classified operation in the movie Mrs. Obama ended up announcing as Best Picture, "Argo," of course.
Sheryl, that really was a shocking moment. We didn`t know that was going to happen.
SHERYL UNDERWOOD, CO-HOST, CBS`S "THE TALK": Well, you know, we in the hood knew that it was happening.
HAMMER: You did not.
UNDERWOOD: Yes, we knew. It was talked about the swap meet and the beauty salon, but we kept it a secret. But the biggest secret was the dude from PriceWaterhouse handing her the envelope...
HAMMER: Yes.
UNDERWOOD: ... so that, you know, none of us would blurt it out.
HAMMER: Yes, well, of course, there`s all sorts of speculation today. How did Mrs. Obama become the first person to see that? Because you know the Secret Service would have had to take a look at what was in the envelope. So they really probably knew first.
UNDERWOOD: No, they didn`t know. Because the first lady, she -- you know, she`s very conscientious about keeping secrets and details.
HAMMER: Right. Well, of course.
UNDERWOOD: And then...
HAMMER: During the first lady`s Best Picture presentation, she did praise movie makers at Dolby Theater, and I thought this was great. Let`s watch it.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
OBAMA: Every day, through engagement in the arts, our children learn to open their imaginations, to dream just a little bigger, and to strive every day to reach those dreams. And I want to thank all of you here tonight for being part of that vitally-important work.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Good for her. And the Oscar producers did manage to keep this a surprise, at least -- at least for most of the world, Daisy. How shocking is that? A secret kept in Hollywood, when does that happen?
DAISY FUENTES, TV PERSONALITY: Actually, it`s a secret kept in Washington, which is very common, if you really think about it. But you`re right, I was surprised. And it`s nice, but it really does solidify her as much more than a celebrity.
Because I`ve gotten used to seeing her on the talk shows, late night, in the magazines, and this really just sets her place in pop culture history, aside from just history.
HAMMER: Yes. I mean, she`s done "American Idol"; now the Oscars. What could be next?
But I think the most surprised person in the room was when Michelle Obama presented the Best Picture Oscar and then Ben Affleck realized, "Oh, wait. What just happened?"
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT was backstage along with Affleck, who was along with his "Argo" co-producers, George Clooney and Grant Heslov, and they talked about what was such a surreal moment.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BEN AFFLECK, DIRECTOR, "ARGO": Honestly, I was just asking these two guys outside. Like, was that Michelle Obama? I thought, you know, the whole thing kind of overwhelmed me at the time. But in retrospect, you know, the fact that it was the first lady was an enormous honor and the fact that she clearly was surrounding herself by servicemen and women was, you know, special and I thought appropriate myself. Anyway, it was very cool.
GEORGE CLOONEY, ACTOR: It was really cool.
GRANT HESLOV, PRODUCER: I am a big fan of the bangs. So...
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Hey, love the hair. You know?
People did love Michelle Obama`s appearance. Others actually slammed it, Thelma, calling it this love fest between Hollywood and the White House that seems to continue.
THELMA ADAMS, CONTRIBUTING EDITOR, YAHOO! MOVIES: Well, yes.
HAMMER: But so what?
ADAMS: Well, and also, it doesn`t stand alone. Bill Clinton, the big dog, got up at the Golden Globes and handed -- you know, handed an award to "Lincoln." So it seems like somehow there`s a symbiotic relationship between Hollywood and the presidency.
UNDERWOOD: Well, so you know what has to happen on the other side?
HAMMER: Yes.
UNDERWOOD: They`ve got to get bigger celebrities. You know, you can`t just go with "Walker Texas Ranger," you know? We love Chuck Norris, but you`ve got to go big time with the big celebrities.
ADAMS: And who bigger?
HAMMER: And it`s hard to imagine -- it`s hard to imagine the amount of planning that went into that, but there is another appearance at the Oscars that took even more planning than the first lady`s, if you can believe it. It`s No. 4 on our "SHOWBIZ Countdown" of the top five "Oscar Secrets" we unmasked today.
And now SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can reveal the secret behind the surprising Oscar appearance of Mark Wahlberg and Ted, the walking, talking, apparently computer-generated teddy bear from last year`s mega-hit movie, "Ted."
Let us now unmask the secret. I`m very upset about this. I thought it was real. But Deadline.com is reporting that what we saw last night was actually filmed in January. And Oscars host Seth MacFarlane, who created and is the voice of Ted, did his voice over earlier this month.
Well, the audience in the Dolby Theater, they were in on it, because they were just looking at an empty stool on stage. But you wouldn`t have known that by watching this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
SETH MACFARLANE, HOST, ACADEMY AWARDS, AS "TED": I just want to be a part of it. Come on you guys, please. Just tell me where it`s going to be.
MARK WAHLBERG, ACTOR: Ted, no one knows what you`re talking about. OK?
MACFARLANE: Mark, the big post-Oscars Hollywood orgy. Please tell me where it is.
WAHLBERG: I think your imagination has gotten out of control, dude.
MACFARLANE: Come on. You guys, I`m really good at sex, and I can bring sodas and snacks and soap and stuff, please.
WAHLBERG: All right, it`s at Jack Nicholson`s house.
MACFARLANE: Yes!
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Daisy, were you fooled? Because I thought it was a real talking teddy bear.
FUENTES: I know. Me, too. And I hate the fact that you just told me, because it`s like ruining Christmas for me.
HAMMER: Sorry.
FUENTES: I love Ted.
HAMMER: OK. All right. I`ll let it go then.
Maybe Ted and Wahlberg didn`t embarrass themselves in their Oscar bit, but unfortunately, the No. 3 secret that we have to reveal in our SHOWBIZ Oscar countdown involved someone who says she did embarrass herself. I`m talking about Jennifer Lawrence.
I was very upset when I saw this happen. She fell, of course, as she climbed the stairs to accept her Best Actress award for "Silver Linings Playbook." And I knew this clip was going to get played all day, and I knew we`d be talking about it but SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can now reveal to you the secret behind her big fall: Christian Dior. No, the designer didn`t get up and push her, because he`s been dead for 55 years.
But SHOWBIZ TONIGHT was right there backstage when Jennifer revealed her floor-length Dior gown is what made her trip.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The fall on the way up to the stage?
JENNIFER LAWRENCE, ACTOR: Was that on purpose? Absolutely.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: What happened?
LAWRENCE: I don`t -- what do you mean what happened? Look at my dress. I tried to walk up stairs in this dress. That`s what happened.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: What was going through your mind when you fell down?
LAWRENCE: What went through my mind when I fell down? A bad word that I can`t say. That starts with "F."
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: I mean, she calls it embarrassing. I liked her before. I love her even more now.
ADAMS: What`s great about it, you know what`s funny, I saw that dress in the preshow where we`re talking about, and they `re going no, she will not fall. And then she falls, and she doesn`t just trip. She planks...
HAMMER: Yes.
ADAMS: ... which is amazing. And I also felt like if it was Anne Hathaway, we would have had a different reaction. Because it`s Jennifer Lawrence, we love her all the more.
UNDERWOOD: I would have just laid there. If I knew that there was some way to get Bradley Cooper and Hugh Jackman to run up and touch me, I would have just laid down and rolled down and moaned. I would, "Ohh, guys."
HAMMER: Good, Sheryl, because now you know. You`ve thought about it and know what you need to do.
UNDERWOOD: Even Ted, the teddy bear. He would have been right there.
HAMMER: Well, we`re now down to our two Oscar secrets that we have yet to unmask. We`re going to tell you why one Oscar presenter was walking funny. It`s not what you think.
And a firsthand account of how the target of Seth MacFarlane`s meanest joke actually reacted to the slam. Thelma, Sheryl, Daisy, great having you all here. Thank you so much.
And while the Oscar stage was getting all the attention in Hollywood, Kanye West went on stage in London and slammed Justin Timberlake.
Kanye, are you kidding me? You bashed the hottest new song out there, "Suit and Tie." Jealous? Kanye versus J.T. And this time, I`m thinking Kanye may have gone too far.
This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, on HLN.
Now "SHOWBIZ Backstage at the Oscars." Daniel Day-Lewis wins his third Oscar for his role in "Lincoln" and tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT he just can`t seem to get out of character.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DANIEL DAY-LEWIS, ACTOR: My fellow nominees, my equals, my betters, I`m so proud to have been included as one amongst you.
I`m definitely out of character at this moment. But if I slip back into it by mistake, you can do an intervention of some kind. The Heimlich maneuver or whatever you do with actors that get stuck in character. No, I`m definitely out of character now.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. We are counting down the top five secrets from the Oscars that we unmasked today. Here`s where we are so far.
No. 5, we revealed how the Oscars got Michelle Obama, of all people, to present the Best Picture winner from the White House.
No. 4, we revealed how Mark Wahlberg was able to present with his computer- generated co-star from the movie "Ted." I thought it was real.
At No. 3, we revealed who or what Jennifer Lawrence blames for her accidental stage dive.
And that brings us to the No. 2 secret that I`m unmasking tonight. What was the deal with Kristen Stewart`s awkward limp as she walked on stage to present last night? Did you notice that?
Well, now SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can reveal Kristen Stewart was wincing in pain from a foot injury. She tells "Live with Kelly & Michael" that she actually cut her foot.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
KRISTEN STEWART, ACTOR: I was a bit less nervous tonight and a bit more in pain.
KELLY RIPA, CO-HOST, "LIVE WITH KELLY AND MICHAEL": A bit more in pain?
STEWART: I`m kind of hobbling around. Like I sliced my foot open.
RIPA: Are you kidding me?
STEWART: Yes It was like gaping.
RIPA: Because Gelman plays a doctor on our show.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Not a fun way to start the night, But Kristen walked the red carpet in crutches. She did gamely pose without them for photographers, and she also left them behind when she presented the award. So good for you Kristen for playing through the pain.
That brings us to the number one Oscar secret that we`re revealing tonight. How did Chris Brown take Seth MacFarlane`s controversial joke about him during the Oscar monologue?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MACFARLANE: This is the story of a man fighting to get back his woman, who`s been subjected to unthinkable violence, or as Chris Brown and Rihanna call it, a date movie. Oh. Oh, no, that`s what we were afraid he would do.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: OK, no big surprise that that came from Seth MacFarlane. But if you think the audience gasped at that joke, imagine what it was like to be in the room with Chris Brown when that joke aired.
Well, "L.A. Times" reporter Wesley Lowery was, and he`s right here for a "SHOWBIZ Newsmaker" interview to tell us about that super awkward moment.
I can`t even imagine him being in the room, probably with monitors everywhere and the sound cranked way up, and that joke comes on. Everybody has got to be looking for him. First of all, where were you guys when the joke aired?
WESLEY LOWERY, REPORTER, "L.A. TIMES": We were at Elton John`s annual Academy Awards viewing party, which he throws every year. The 21st annual to raise money for his AIDS foundation.
HAMMER: Classy event.
LOWERY: Great event. Everyone is there. Nicki Minaj is there. Chris Brown is there. Quincy Jones is there, a ton of celebrities there. A ton of newsmakers there.
And you know, it was really early in the night. We all had just gotten in. People were grabbing drinks. You know, it`s starting the opening monologue. And here, you know, we`re standing a few feet away from Chris Brown and we hear his name, you know, coming through the speakers and everyone just kind of stops and looks.
HAMMER: Does everybody look at him?
LOWERY: You know, not every -- see, not everyone knew he was there. This was a huge event with so many people.
HAMMER: OK, you`re a reporter. So you looked right at him.
LOWERY: I knew he was there. He was the first person I was looking.
HAMMER: Did you catch his reaction?
LOWERY: You know, I caught a little bit. It didn`t seem like he heard the full joke. You know, it`s one of those things where you hear your name. He knew what the joke must have been about. But you know, to Chris`s credit, he played it off really well. He was kind of standing around with, you know, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler. You know, he -- he played it off well and was a great sport about it.
HAMMER: Did you feel like you couldn`t laugh, though?
LOWERY: Yes, it felt remarkably awkward. You know, when you went up to him at the bar later, you definitely don`t go, "Hey, Chris. What did you think of the joke?" You know, it`s kind of the elephant in the room, but he was having a great time. He hung out really late. You know, seemed to be a real sport.
HAMMER: All right. Well, thanks for the insider view. It`s really wild. I was just wondering about when that joke aired last night, how it went down. Appreciate you being here.
LOWERY: Of course. Any time.
HAMMER: Well, those are just the secrets behind the actual Oscar show. But what about all the star-studded parties after the Oscars wrapped up? Of course, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT was there at all the biggest parties.
That`s a very pregnant -- very pregnant Kim K. right there showing off her growing baby bump. Yes, Kim was raising eyebrows as startling new reports reveal if she`s having a girl or a boy.
And as Kim K. was going to the parties, the Octomom was apparently going to pot. The mother of 14 claims that she has a prescription for medical marijuana. I`m no doctor, but is it really a good idea to look after 14 kids when you`re stoned?
This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, on HLN.
Now, "SHOWBIZ Backstage at the Oscars." Adele takes home the Oscar for best song and then tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT backstage what she really needs is a good night`s sleep.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
RENE ZELLWEGER, ACTRESS: And the Oscar goes to...
RICHARD GERE, ACTOR: There it is. "Skyfall."
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ADELA ADKINS, ACTOR: Things come up. I mean, I think I might go to the "Vanity Fair" party, because that will be quite nice. But one glass of champagne and I`m gone these days.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Tonight, "SHOWBIZ Scare," such a horrific crash leading up to the Daytona 500, NASCAR`s biggest race of the year. Shredded metal, a whole tire, even a car engine ripped through the stands. At least 30 fans were injured, two of them still in the hospital tonight.
And tonight there is brand-new outrage after such an exciting day at the Daytona International Speedway turned into an afternoon of sheer terror. NASCAR fans are seriously scared after the big crash in the lead-up to the Daytona 500.
It is obviously no joke when shattered cars wind up flying into the stands at 200 miles an hour. So here`s the big question tonight. Should NASCAR have canceled the Daytona 500?
Matt Bean is the managing editor of SI.com. He`s joining me from New York.
Matt, you know, a lot of NASCAR fans are saying they just don`t feel safe in the stands anymore. And that`s really not hard to get. Debris was ripping through the safety fence there. A huge hole right there at the track.
One fan even described how a tire flew over her husband`s head. So what do you think? I mean, this is part of racing, but should NASCAR officials have canceled the Daytona 500 out of respect for the injured fans?
Well, A.J., this is really an interesting debate right now, because fans want that visceral feel of being right next to the action, that thrum of the motors, the excitement of the race.
But as you mentioned, you`re next to cars that are traveling in upwards of 200 miles an hours. And when things go wrong, as they of course, did on Saturday, there can be some accidents that happen.
So I can tell you NASCAR is instituting a safety review, which a lot of people think is the right thing to do, particularly in light of all of the injuries. In fact, we do still have a couple fans still in the hospital. And really answer the question of whether or not they should have gone on with the race.
I think there are a lot of ways, that this could have been handled differently, particularly during the race itself. There could have been a little bit more of a focus on those who were in the hospital and those who were injured. So I mean, really, this is one of the more shocking things to happen in the past decade of NASCAR spectator accidents.
HAMMER: Yes, no question about that. You`ll see me sitting up in the bleachers, by the way.
BEAN: I`ll watch it on a flat screen.
HAMMER: I think even if there`s -- exactly. If there`s a silver lining in all this, I was thinking it`s got to be Danica Patrick`s history-making finish in the Daytona 500. I mean, she took eighth place. And that is the best finish ever for a woman driver at the race. And I think it is so important to take note of.
Watch what she had to say about making history.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
LAWRENCE: It was just that I didn`t think that I...
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Great job, great job. Who says girls can`t do this correct?
LAWRENCE: It`s a little but maybe more calm driving around here than Indy in an indie car. So I -- I guess maybe in the lead. At least on your own, anyway, especially in the lead. So I guess I had a little more time to look around and see the people.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: I love her casual attitude. I know you`re a sports editor, but I`ve also got to wonder if you`re just a big Danica fan tonight like everybody else?
BEAN: Well, I think everyone is. The more she becomes more comfortable with the spotlight like this one, I think the better she`ll do in these races.
And you know, we`ve seen some really amazing performances from Danica in the past, but this was one that really transformed the event from being another race that maybe, if you`re into the sport you followed, to being something that transcended the sport itself. And that`s what any sport is looking for. Danica or the Olympics or anything else.
HAMMER: Good for her and I`m sure she will continue to blow us away in the years to come. Matt Bean, thank you, as always.
Got to move on now to Kanye West`s brand-new onstage meltdown. I know Kanye`s no stranger to rants during his shows, but this one even shocked me.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
KANYE WEST, SINGER (singing): Remind me again who is the original Superfly. And I got love for the HOV but I ain`t (EXPLETIVE DELETED) with that suit and tie.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yes, Kanye taking aim at Justin Timberlake for his new hit song, "Suit and Tie." And his friend Jay-Z is getting caught on the crossfire. So did Kanye finally go too far? Also I`m firing up a special Oscar countdown, "SHOWBIZ Fashion Frenzy.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MORGAN: What are you wearing tonight?
HELEN HUNT, ACTOR: H & M.
MORGAN: H & M? No.
HUNT: Yes.
QUVENZHANE WALLIS, ACTOR: The purse is from Poochie and Company.
JESSICA CHASTAIN, ACTRESS: The dress reminded me of a "happy birthday, Mr. President" kind of dress.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: H & M at the Oscars? A puppy purse? I love that. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT listing the top three star moments that caused an "Oscar Fashion Frenzy."
This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Right now, the "SHOWBIZ Countdown." SHOWBIZ TONIGHT names the top three star moments that caused an "Oscar Fashion Frenzy."
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MORGAN: Who are you wearing tonight? It`s a beautiful dress.
HUNT: H & M.
MORGAN: H & M?
HUNT: Yes.
MORGAN: No.
WALLIS: A puppy purse from Poochie and Co.
CHASTAIN: The dress reminded me -- it was a "happy birthday, Mr. President" kind of dress. And I love.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Wow, some shocking fashion choices. And some serious sparkle. So which star got the cameras clicking like no one else? And while Hollywood went for the glam, Kanye West went on a rant.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Remind me again who is the original Superfly.
And I got love for Hov, but I ain`t [EXPLETIVE DELETED] with that suit and a tie.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Kanye`s dissing Justin Timberlake`s hot new hit "Suit and Tie." Yes. He`s trash-talking the J.T. collaboration with Kanye`s close friend Jay-Z. Well, at least he`s finally picking on someone his own size. "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT" continues right now.
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. And thank you for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer in Hollywood. And tonight we are counting down the top three stars who sparked an Oscar fashion frenzy. And I can tell you there were so many to choose from, from strapless numbers to elegant trains and to the blinding big money jewels that really stole the show, we just can`t seem to get enough of it, right? We`re going to kick off the SHOWBIZ Countdown in just a moment. But first, here is CNN`s Alina Cho for SHOWBIZ tonight to set the stage for the Oscar fashion frenzy.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
(CHEERS)
ALINA CHO, CNN CORRESPONDENT: The Oscars ...
(CHEERS)
CHO: ... the glitz, the glamour, were arguably the most important words of the night are not this.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The Oscar goes to ...
CHO: But this.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What are you wearing? You`re wearing? What are you wearing?
CHO: Halle Berry in Versace.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yeah, I heard you wanted to look like a Bond girl, is that true?
HALLE BERRY: I did.
CHO: Nicole Kidman in Lawrence Scott and Jessica Chastain in Giorgio Armani.
JESSICA CHASTAIN: The dress reminded me, it was a happy birthday, Mr. President kind of dress.
(LAUGHTER)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It is. This is not to the Marilyn.
CHO: Old Hollywood glamour on full display in a sea of strapless gowns including Helen Hunt`s. But guess who made it.
HELEN HUNT: H&M.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: H&M. No?
HUNT: Yes.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Really?
HUNT: Yes!
CHO: Accessorized with $700,000 in diamonds. Fashion favorite Anne Hathaway turned up in Prada deciding on it just three hours before the show.
ANNE HATHAWAY, ACTOR: I really like the back.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Wow. I really like the back, too.
(LAUGHTER)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: That is - can we do that again.
HATHAWAY: Yes.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Wow.
CHO: During the show, she changed into Armani. The face of Dior Jennifer Lawrence for you guessed it - Dior couture. But it was this moment that caught everyone`s eye.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She told me before that she was going to do that, because it would guarantee a standing ovation.
CHO: Jennifer Aniston and Sally Field wore signature red Valentino.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Do you still feel pressured about what to wear? These things?
SALLY FIELD, ACTOR: Oh my god, yes. We didn`t - we didn`t used to feel any pressure at all in the old days. Literally. You just walked in the store and got a dress and put it on. It wasn`t any of that what are you wearing and all of this kind of stuff.
CHO: But don`t tell that to Quvenzhane Wallace. She wore ...
WALLACE: I`m wearing Amore Junior -- I`m -- I think that`s how to say it.
CHO: Actually, Giorgio Armani, custom made, with an accessory no other nominee had -- a doggie bag.
WALLACE: It`s a puppy purse, Poochie & Co (ph). I usually wear them since Sundance.
CHO: Oh, the Oscars, the most expensive, glamorous, over the top fashion on the planet.
(CHEERS)
HAMMER: That was CNN`s Alina Cho for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, and yeah, you can`t get that kind of doggie bag at Zizzler. Over the top fashion, indeed, let`s count down the top three stars who sparked an absolute Oscar fashion frenzy. Let`s take it off at number three, newly minted Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence, who really played to both fashion extremes over this past weekend. Look at this, she wore a black Lanvin (ph) number, did I say that right, Rachel?
RACHEL ZALIS, FASHION AND ENTERTAINMENT EXPERT: Lanvin.
HAMMER: Lanvin. That`s really left little to the imagination, as you see. That was at the independent Spirits Awards on Saturday out at Santa Monica. And then this swooning Dior couture gown on Oscar Sunday that tripped her up a little bit. With me in New York, the spectacular Daisy Fuentes, who is a fabulous TV personal and fashion mogul. With me in Hollywood tonight, Rachel Zalis, a fashion and entertainment expert who was right there on the red carpet last night. So, Rachel, let me begin with you, because you saw it up close and personal before anybody tripped going up the stairs.
ZALIS : All right.
HAMMER: I thought that she looked terrific and really sparked a fashion frenzy last night, talking Jennifer Lawrence.
ZALIS: Absolutely. I mean this was a major fashion moment for her. I mean she showed up like every other star in Hollywood should. Dior couture, it was the color of the night. It was this pale blush, textured, tiered, 74 carets of diamonds draped down her back, I mean she`s it. She`s everything.
HAMMER: And I don`t know much, but it even felt age appropriate. She`s so young, but you think sometimes those kinds of things can`t work. I thought she just looked spectacular.
ZALIS: Yes.
HAMMER: And I think that, of course, that was before she tripped going up the stairs, but she handled the fall with so much grace when she was on her way to the Oscar stage. And she even joked when she was backstage when she was asked what was going through her mind at the very moment she tripped. Watch that.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
LAWRENCE: So what went through my mind when I fell down? A bad word that I can`t say ...
(LAUGHTER)
LAWRENCE: ... that starts with "f."
(LAUGHTER)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: I love that. Daisy, I think she just handled the whole thing perfectly. So, you`ve got to tell me from your fashion expertise, which Jennifer Lawrence look sparked a bigger fashion frenzy for you?
DAISY FUENTES: For me, it was definitely last night`s dress because she looked like a princess in it. And it`s like you said, it`s exactly what you would expect the Best Actress to wear. And I love that she is young and she was able to pull it off with such grace. And I love the contrast that she brings to the table, which is this elegance with this couture dress, but yes, she`s so unguarded and so unfiltered that it`s really refreshing to see. She almost makes us think that she`s kind of the girl next door.
(LAUGHTER)
HAMMER: Yes. And she`s refreshing is a great word for her. She just makes everybody smile, doesn`t she?
DAISY : Yes.
Let`s move from one Oscar- winning fashion beauty to another. Coming at a number two on our countdown of the top three stars who sparked an Oscar fashion, frenzy, the lovely Anne Hathaway. Of course, she as expected, won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for "Les Mis." And while she just dazzled in this designer Prada, she called the look, and I love this, business in the front and a party in the back. Watch her on the red carpet with CNN`s Piers Morgan.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
HATHAWAY: I`m wearing Prada and I really like the back.
MORGAN: Wow! I really like the back too.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yeah. Rachel Zalis, did you really like the back?
ZALIS: I was not fond of this dress at all.
HAMMER: Are you kidding?
ZALIS: I`m sorry. I love Anne, and she never makes a misstep, but last night it just didn`t go right. It`s being called now Les Nipparables (ph).
HAMMER: Well ...
ZALIS: OK.
HAMMER: I have to say there was a standout part of that dress that I think everybody noticed.
ZALIS: It raised a lot of questions, A.J.
HAMMER: All right. Yes.
ZALIS: No, it was a very confusing dress.
HAMMER: And it wasn`t particularly cold out there on the red carpet.
ZALIS: I don`t know. But you wouldn`t know it.
HAMMER: All right. Let me move right on to our number one star who caused the biggest Oscar fashion frenzy. They come in a number one Oscar- nominated actress Helen Hunt who pulled off an amazing low budget surprise. Watch this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MORGAN: What are you wearing tonight? It`s a beautiful dress.
HUNT: H&M.
MORGAN: H&M?
HUNT: Yes.
MORGAN: No.
HUNT: Yes.
MORGAN: Really?
HUNT: Yes.
MORGAN: How much did it cost you?
HUNT: Accessorized with $150,000 worth of diamonds.
(LAUGHTER)
MORGAN: Fabulous. How much was the dress?
HUNT: Well, they allowed me to wear it. So like --
(CROSSTALK)
MORGAN: The main bucks have gone on the diamonds?
HUNT: Well, I think that of all the dresses I tried on, it was the most beautiful. So I was proud to wear it.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
HAMMER: Piers was absolutely flabbergasted when she told him H&M. Daisy, I know it`s very cool to mix the low-end fashion with the high-end fashion ...
FUENTES: Yeah, it is.
HAMMER: But I personally think Helen Hunt just raised the bar. Did you like it?
FUENTES: Totally. And I remember years back when Sharon Stone did something similar with a Gap T-shirt. Remember? The way back when in the Oscars, I forget what year it was. But I love that surprise. It`s unexpected. Although for her I would have liked to see her in a couture dress. Because it`s almost the unexpected. I would like to see somebody like a Gwyneth Paltrow who we are used to seeing in very high-end couture, maybe pull something like this, and surprise us. But Helen Hunt, I would have liked to see in maybe a Carolina Herrera or a Dior couture dress.
HAMMER: Well, she did surprise everything - everybody, and I love the fact that there was a charity component to this as well. Rachel Zalis, Daisy Fuentes, I`ve got to live it there. Thank you both.
While those Oscar fashions raised a whole lot of eyebrows in the Hollywood. And tonight, Kanye West raised the whole lot of eyebrows with this brand- new on-stage rant.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
WEST: Remind me again who is the original Superfly. And I got love for the Hov but I ain`t [EXPLETIVE DELETED] with that suit and the tie.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yeah, Kanye is at it again. This time blasting Justin Timberlake of all people, for his brand-new "Suit and Tie" collaboration. With Kanye`s good pal J.Z. what about this for raising eyebrows? Octomom Nadya Suleman apparently just scored some medical marijuana for her anxiety condition. Yeah, that`s right. The octomom is going to pot, literally. Tonight, the wild stories you didn`t hear while the Oscars were grabbing all the attention. You got to see them all. This is SBT, "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT" on HLN. And now SHOWBIZ backstage at the Oscars. Jennifer Lawrence wins the gold for Best Actress and then talks to "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT" about her anti-glam pre-Oscar routine.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
LAWRENCE: This is nuts. Thank you to the academy and thank you to the women this year. You were so magnificent and so inspiring.
I just woke up, and tried on the dress and it fit, thank God, and then I took a shower and ...
(LAUGHTER)
LAWRENCE: I don`t know what I was - That`s what I did. And then I got my hair and makeup done. And then I like came to the Oscars.
(LAUGHTER)
LAWRENCE: I`m sorry, I did a shot before I ...
(LAUGHTER)
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED GIRL: It`s a Christmas miracle.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Mama!
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What baby?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I`m skating!
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Good news, planet Earth. From West Virginia to Eastern Europe, Honey Boo Boo is going for global domination. Get this: the seven-year old reality star is now being broadcast internationally. And her show, "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, " is already the third most popular program in all of Poland. Can you believe it? Well, in the next three month "Honey Boo Boo" will also appear on screens in Australia, the Netherlands, Italy and Latin America. It`s nice to share, isn`t it?
Welcome back. I`m A.J. Hammer in Hollywood tonight. And tonight Kanye`s new crazy eyebrow-raising moment. So if you think that pending fatherhood has in any way mellowed Kanye West, oh, no, think again. Right now, the acid-tongued lyricist may have dissed Jay-Z, and it wasn`t just Jay who was in the line of fire. Kanye rips Justin Timberlake and the entire Grammies organization. All this went down in a London concert over the weekend. And here`s how it happened.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
WEST: Remind me again why we in this [EXPLETIVE DELETED]. Remind me again why the Grammies could [EXPLETIVE DELETED].
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
WEST: Remind me again who is the original Superfly. And I got love for Hov, but I ain`t (EXPLETIVE DELETED) with that suit and tie.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: And for some reason, the crowd is going nuts. "Suit and Tie", of course, Jay-Z`s collaboration with Justin Timberlake. Those are some serious fighting words. So, who better to ref in A-list fight, Steve Wilkos -- he was, of course, the muscle on "The Jerry Springer Show" for years. And now he has his own very successful eponymous talk show on E!`s Tonight (ph). Steve joins me from New York. It`s great having you here. Steven, what do you think is going on here? Is Kanye picking a fight? Or is Jay-Z, you know, just kind of brush off his shoulder as Kanye being Kanye here?
STEVE WILKOS: Well, if you ever met Kanye, and I have, he`s a squirrely kind of guy. So, I think he, you know, he just says things because he likes to be, you know, getting attention. So I think most people know not to put a lot into what he says.
HAMMER: It was very clear watching that tape that it wasn`t just off the cuff. It was a premeditated moment, a planned moment, a rehearsed moment, if you will. So, I`m kind of with you. He`s just, you know.
WILKOS: He`s got a chip on his shoulder about everything.
HAMMER: Yes.
WILKOS: I mean, they guy, you know, he just ...
HAMMER: That`s a huge chip.
WILKOS: Right. And he - he just - he can`t let anything go. The guy got mad at me because I didn`t remember because he sat in a Springer audience at one time and he just like turned and ran from me. So I was like, whatever. You know.
HAMMER: Shame on you, man. I can`t believe you would forget that, Steve. But let`s let him go right now and move from Kanye`s rant to taming Tiger. Because for the first time in ages, Tiger Woods and his wife, his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren were photographed together. They were at their children`s tee ball game. Tiger`s mistress` mayhem, three years ago, was, of course, the kind of stuff the talk shows were made for, Steve. Are you thinking that this is what divorced couples do, get together because of the kids, or you actually personally hope it is the beginning of some kind of reunion here?
WILKOS: I`m sure he`s hoping it`s some kind of reunion. She`s a beautiful woman, and the mother of his children and I`m sure - I`m sure at some level he regrets what he did. And I think he probably would like his family unit back. So maybe she`s not open to that at all. But I think it`s probably what a lot of divorced couples do. Your kids have a baseball game, whether you`re married or divorced, you go to it. My kids play sports ...
HAMMER: Yes.
WILKOS: ... and I go to it. And I think that`s probably what this is. But I`m sure, somewhere deep down in Tiger, he would like to have her back.
HAMMER: Yeah, but we probably shouldn`t read too much into it. But additional talk show father I must get to right now, octomom`s life may be going to pot, Steve. Because the mother of octuplets and six other kids who has most recently been stripping to pay the bills is apparently getting baked. I`m not talking about cakes. TMZ reporting that Nadya Suleman has a medical marijuana card and she reportedly eats pot-laced cookies for anxiety. I`m betting you would just love to sit the octomom down on your show and give her a piece of your mind, Steve.
WILKOS: Yeah. She`s just not eating pot cookies, I`m sure she`s smoking pretty heavy and hard. I don`t buy it at all. This is a woman that just makes bad choice after bad choice. And this is just, you know, a reason why she`s going to probably -- I don`t know if she`s under some kind of drug testing program, but I`m sure she`s doing more than eating pot-laced cookies.
HAMMER: Yeah. And I`m thinking - nothing better than having pot-laced cookies lying around the house when you have 14 children.
WILKOS: Yes.
HAMMER: Steve, we got to leave it there. Thank you so much for being here. And be sure to check your local listings for "The Steve Wilkos Show". Well, Steve certainly could have provided some serious muscle for all the stars who were at last night`s big Oscar parties, right, including Kim Kardashian. "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT" was right there as Kim K. stepped out at Elton John`s iconic Oscar charity event. Her best accessory was her baby bump. And startling new reports of whether or not she`s having a boy or girl are servicing. It`s "SHOWBIZ" at the Oscar parties with Kim K. This is SBT, "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT" on HLN.
And now, SHOWBIZ backstage at the Oscars. Michelle Obama stuns everyone with her surprise presentation for Best Picture and backstage, Ben Affleck tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT about his reaction to it.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
OBAMA: And the Oscar goes to -- "Argo", congratulations.
AFFLECK: I was just asking these two guys outside like, was that Michelle Obama? I thought, you know, the whole thing kind of overwhelmed me at the time. But in retrospect, you know, the fact that it was the first lady, an enormous honor and the fact that she could - was surrounded herself by service men and women was, you know, special. And I thought appropriate myself - anyway, it was very cool.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Look at this. "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT" was right there with Kim Kardashian and Elton John`s big Oscar viewing party last night. Kim`s hottest accessory on the red carpet was her growing baby bump. She is looking oh so glamorous just after "US Weekly" reported that Kim and Kanye West are going to have a baby girl later this year. Yes, it`s going to be a girl. What if Kim and Kanye will keep up the tradition of giving the baby a name that starts with the letter "K." So many options, right? You`ve got Kara, Kendra, Kaleidoscope (ph). And as I said, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT was right there at all of the big Oscar bashes. I`m talking about Elton John`s annual charity event, the iconic "Vanity Fair" party, and, of course, the post Oscars governor`s ball. The night`s biggest winners in Hollywood`s elite were all out in force and I can tell you it just doesn`t get anymore glamorous or wild than at these glitzy parties. ADELE: It`s amazing. I don`t know, I`m a bit emotional. I just want a drink.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
HAMMER: And clearly a big time was had by all. That`s CNN`s Paul Vercammen for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Well, I`m sure there was some wild dance moves being thrown down at those Oscar parties and the first lady and Jimmy Fallon just threw down their own dance moves to raise awareness for fitness.
(VIDEO CLIP)
