Aired April 24, 2013 - 23:00 ET
THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.
A.J. HAMMER, HOST: So it`s on, "HLN AFTER DARK," that "Bold Accusation" Jodi Arias is not a victim. And tonight on the "SHOWBIZ Countdown," it`s the top three "SHOWBIZ Justice Shockers" of the day. Arias courtroom outrage. A woman gets booted after selling her seat in the public gallery. And this case is just getting stranger by the minute.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON DAVIS, MODEL: Like me. A bit of a signature look. Or perhaps au naturale.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Undressing for salad dressing? The Kraft Zesty guy`s got them hungry for more than just veggies. Well Mr. Zesty is right here, and SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has the exclusive first look at his brand-new shirtless ad.
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT starts right now.
Hello and thank you for joining us. I`m A.J. Hammer.
So tonight, of course, you got to watch the great debate over Jodi Arias on "HLN AFTER DARK" for free. But could you imagine paying to see the Jodi Arias murder trial? Well, that is actually part of tonight`s "SHOWBIZ Countdown" as we count down the three celebrity justice shockers that are breaking today. We`re going to get to all the Arias drama in just a moment.
But first we kick off the countdown with No. 3 and the murder case that had Amanda Knox in an Italian prison for four years and now facing another trial. Well, tonight, Amanda Knox`s first interview revealed in the brand- new issue of "People" magazine.
Today, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT got a sneak advance look at that interview in "People" with Amanda revealing what is going to be in her tell-all book that`s about to come out.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
HAMMER (voice-over): For many, she`s a global Jodi Arias. Amanda Knox put front and center in an ongoing international legal saga over the brutal murder of her roommate, is finally speaking out.
BETSY GLEICK, EXECUTIVE EDITOR, "PEOPLE" MAGAZINE: What`s extraordinary is that it`s been so long since she`s been out of prison. And finally, she is telling us all of this.
HAMMER: Today, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT obtained an advance copy of Knox`s interview in the new issue of "People" magazine. It`s all part of the media blitz Amanda is doing for her upcoming book, "Waiting to Be Heard."
DIANE SAWYER, ABC NEWS: Did you kill Meredith Kercher?
HAMMER: A blitz that also includes an upcoming interview with ABC`s Diane Sawyer.
Now, Amanda tells "People," quote, "I`m tired of speculation. I wanted to lay myself out in a completely honest way."
Right now, this young woman, whose face was plastered on newspapers all over the world, is now just a normal 25-year-old living on her own in Seattle.
GLEICK: She is going to school, finishing up her degree and she is spending a lot of time with her family.
HAMMER: That is a far cry from September of 2007, when while spending her junior year in Italy, Amanda`s roommate, Meredith Kercher, was found with her throat cut in their apartment. Amanda and her boyfriend were arrested. Amanda tells "People," "It never occurred to me that I would be considered a suspect." And it never occurred to Amanda that she would be convicted of murder as headlines portrayed her as some kind of callous, sex-crazed temptress.
GLEICK: She feels that it was just a one-sided portrayal of her. She just was caught in events out of her control.
HAMMER: Amanda says prison was a particular hell.
GLEICK: She describes four years in an Italian prison, being caught up in this criminal justice nightmare.
HAMMER: Amanda says that guards leered at her. And she helplessly watched as her determined parents drained their savings in the fight for her freedom. It all because so much, she tells "People," quote, "I sometimes thought about the most peaceful and effective way to kill myself."
GLEICK: She describes prison as being a profoundly alienating and lonely place.
AMANDA KNOX, ACQUITTED OF MURDER: Thank you to everyone.
HAMMER: And while Amanda was elated at her acquittal in 2011, her she justice to life back home in the United States was far from movie.
Amanda tells "People," "When I first came home I was still trapped in myself. I wasn`t as cheery and sociable as before."
GLEICK: She gets home to Seattle, and she has lost four years of her life.
HAMMER: But reestablishing life in the states led to some funny moments.
GLEICK: Soon after she got back to Seattle, she`s sitting with her family, and they`re watching David Letterman, and the top ten questions is the top ten questions Amanda Knox would ask. And one of the things on his list was, "Who is Justin Bieber?"
And so she turns to her family and she`s like, "Who is Justin Bieber?"
HAMMER: Even though Italy`s highest court threw out Amanda`s acquittal this past March, Amanda has no plans to return to Italy for a trial. About her life now, Amanda says, quote, "It`s very joyful. The freedom that I`m most grateful for has to do with reclaiming my identity. I`m not a murderer."
And that`s why we`re going to be hearing a lot more from Amanda Knox.
And to see more of the story, check out the new "People" magazine, featuring the Amanda Knox interview when it hits stands nationwide on Friday.
From that Amanda Knox "SHOWBIZ Justice Shocker" to No. 2 in our countdown, selling seats to the Jodi Arias trial. That`s right. And this woman, Desiree Lee, gets booted from court after trying to sell her seat in the public gallery. But here`s the rub: the woman who tried to buy her seat actually got to stay in the courtroom to watch the trial. But Desiree and her aunt, Cathy Brown, explained how it all went down.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DESIREE LEE, SOLD SEAT FOR JODI ARIAS TRIAL: A lady was offering $200 for a seat. She had asked a couple people. They were saying no. I said yes. And we got caught.
CATHY BROWN, DESIREE`S AUNT: Yes, she`s my niece, but I had nothing to do with it. And the lady that did offer the money to my niece is still in the courtroom, so I don`t understand why they kicked me out and not her, as well.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: You`ve got to watch the court show. All right. Out to Pat LaLama in Hollywood. Pat is a correspondent with Investigation Discovery. Pat, can you believe that people are actually trying to buy their way into the courtroom to get a close up and personal look at Jodi?
PAT LALAMA, CORRESPONDENT, INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY: Well, I personally wouldn`t spend money on that, unless Darren Kavinoky, whom you`re going to go to in a minute, was the man in action in the courtroom.
Listen, this is blood sport. I`ve been covering trials for 25 years. This -- and here I live in Hollywood, as you know, A.J. There are ideas for movies spinning around in the atmosphere all the time. You can`t make this story up it`s so good. It`s got everything from Shakespeare to a Lifetime movie, with all due respect to a Lifetime movie. Of course, it`s big business now. It`s not a commodity. It`s not right, but I can understand why it`s happening.
HAMMER: And it gets even crazier, Pat. Listen to this. The woman who tried to buy her way into the courtroom and actually ended up getting to sit in courtroom was in town on vacation. Watch Cathy Brown tell HLN.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BROWN: She`s from Michigan. She came down from vacation and she was asking anybody she could to you know, sell their seat, basically. And my niece just happened to be the one to say yes. Little embarrassing, but you know, it is what it is. It`s very interesting, and a lot of people I`d seen from several states that had been here, and -- people just want to know, they want to see her. They`re here to see her. And so just one glimpse, and this lady was willing to pay $200.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Really, $200? Hey, you`re going on vacation? Where are you going to do? Go see Jodi Arias.
Well, Darren Kavinoky, who`s right here for free tonight from Hollywood, an attorney and host for "Deadly Sins" on Investigation Discovery, now Darren, the last time I checked this wasn`t some kind of Vegas show that you`re lining up to pay tickets -- pay for tickets to get into. This is a murder trial. Jodi is facing the death penalty. Do you have a big problem with this?
DARREN KAVINOKY, HOST, INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY`S "DEADLY SINS": Actually, I don`t, A.J. The reason courts are open to the public, fundamentally, is so that the public can have confidence in the integrity of the judicial system. So that there aren`t these secret star-chamber kind of proceedings happening.
But if there is a case that is drawing such national or international scrutiny just like Jodi Arias, I say put those tickets up for sale on line. Let`s get that money and use it to -- oh, I don`t know -- buy some school lunches or something. I`m sure we can find a good way.
HAMMER: I agree, it`s great. Hey, raise money any way you can to support the system, and it`s great that people can go and see our judicial system in progress. But that`s not what`s going on here. This is a star-struck person who is simply paying money.
LALAMA: We can`t condone scalping, Darren. We can`t...
KAVINOKY: Well, that`s just because people have fundamentally bad taste.
VELEZ-MITCHELL: Go ahead, Pat.
LALAMA: We can`t condone scalping, Darren. We can`t condone scalping. I`m sorry.
HAMMER: All right. Listen, we`ve got the brand-new Jodi Arias shocker that I could go on about all day. We have the Amanda Knox tell-all, but now it`s time to reveal what`s No. 1 in our "SHOWBIZ Justice Shocker" countdown, brand-new outrage today over Reese Witherspoon`s mug shot.
Take a look at this. Reese is seen with her head down after being arrested in Atlanta for disorderly conduct. Allegedly giving cops a hard time while her husband was pinched for suspicion of DUI. Now police sources tell "People" magazine that Reese, who admits she was drinking, was kind of wobbly on her feet, so that`s why she couldn`t get a really clear shot in this picture.
Pat, a criminal defense attorney tells "People" that`s not protocol. Cops should have helped her, done what they needed to do, to have Reese hold her head up. Do you think she got preferential celebrity treatment?
LALAMA: Oh, for heaven`s sake. If we followed protocol every time there was a case involving a celebrity, I mean, please. Listen, I`m the first to try to knock celebrities off their privileged, self-entitled totem poles. But this is not a woman they can get mad about. She may have had a little too much. She was trying to defend her husband, maybe they were giving her a little bit of a break. Who cares? Let`s worry about people like Lindsay Lohan, who should have her behind...
(CROSSTALK)
HAMMER: Listen, I agree. I don`t think -- look, I have no problem with Reese here. But I do have a problem if a cop was -- or whoever was responsible for taking the picture was too star-struck to get the proper picture. It`s still the system, Darren, isn`t it?
KAVINOKY: Yes. And I have a problem with the arrogance of the police officer for arresting her in the first place for essentially failing the attitude test.
LALAMA: Oh, come on.
KAVINOKY: If you`re going to make her take the mug shot, then you should at least do it right. And if she`s getting preferential treatment for by not making her take the third mug shot?
LALAMA: She implied it wasn`t even a police officer. Come on. He`s doing his job.
HAMMER: Well, it wasn`t done all that well. Pat LaLama, Darren Kavinoky, thanks, guys.
Right now, we go from f-bomb to famous? Yes, I`m sure you heard about that news guy from North Dakota who lost his TV job on his first day of anchoring?

And there he is from Hollywood. It is none other than the Zesty guy himself, Anderson Davis. We almost didn`t recognize you, of course, with your shirt on, but it`s great to have you here, Anderson.
DAVIS: Thanks, A.J. Thanks for having me, buddy.
HAMMER: So you`ve got to tell me, man, when you first got this gig to do the Zesty ads, what went through your mind when they said, "Anderson, we`re hiring you. You`re going to be selling salad dressing with your shirt off"?
DAVIS: You know, I really didn`t think much about it, besides the fact that what the heck are they going to have me doing with the salad dressing? And now I can see how it kind of came about.
HAMMER: What a great gig. I mean, look at how crazy viral this whole thing has gone. I imagine, beyond what you ever could have expected. I`m sure there has been some crazy fandom surrounding all this for you, so what`s the wildest thing that a fan has now done to get your attention, since your Zesty man fame?
DAVIS: A.J., man, I planned this on this going viral. This was the plan.
HAMMER: OK.
DAVIS: I planned this. Now, I`ve got some really -- really interesting e- mails and Facebook messages that -- maybe aren`t quite appropriate to share.
But for the most part, I`ve had some really strong and supportive, amazing fans that are really digging both of the commercials, you know, from Sauza and Kraft that I`ve done. So that`s nice.
HAMMER: And hopefully, no stalkers, yet, and hopefully, they`ll stay away. But hey, look out, man.
DAVIS: Yes. Hey, they better stay away.
HAMMER: Well, people are very excited about this now, Anderson, because right now SHOWBIZ TONIGHT is bringing everybody a Zesty guy world-wide exclusive, something I never thought I`d say on television, we`re giving everybody your first look at the newest Kraft Zesty guy ad. Roll it out.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DAVIS: It`s not just about how well you roast, but how good you look while roasting.
(SOUND EFFECT: BELL RINGING)
DAVIS: What`s your style? Maybe, like me you have a signature look. Or perhaps au naturale.
Get Zesty.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: That`s fantastic, man. And by the way, tell me quickly, because I should tell everybody, you`re also an actor. You`re in it for the long haul. Give me a quick -- what`s your dream role?
DAVIS: Absolutely. You know what? Anything working with Mr. Clint Eastwood. The guy is amazing. As far as a specific role, I`m an actor. I`m open to anything from A to Z, you know, because it`s entertainment.
HAMMER: Wouldn`t it be something if this Zesty ad led to you and Clint working together? I hope it works out.
Anderson, thank you so much for being here with us.
DAVIS: Thanks a lot, A.J. Take care, bud.
HAMMER: And be sure to check out Anderson`s ads for Sauza tequila, as well. Yes, he is shirtless in those, too.
All right, we move on to Kim Kardashian, who`s been a bit more covered up than we`re used to seeing her since her pregnancy. But is she cracking under the mountain of criticism about her weight gain?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I train Kim, so I`m constantly telling her to relax. Your body is meant to grow right now. You`re bringing another human being into this world.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Kim`s personal trainer tells all to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT about Kim`s biggest pregnancy fears. It`s the "SHOWBIZ Countdown," today`s top three "SHOWBIZ Secrets Revealed."
But will Kim top Gwyneth Paltrow`s ugly controversy? Gwyneth just named the most beautiful woman in the world. Her haters having a fit. What`s the secret behind this controversy? And will it top the "SHOWBIZ Countdown," today`s "SHOWBIZ Secrets"?
This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: (UNINTELLIGIBLE)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Ask yourself. What would you sacrifice for what you believe?

CHRIS HEMSWORTH, ACTOR: You should know that when you betray me I will kill you.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: When do we start?
(END VIDEO CLIP)

(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Right now, the "SHOWBIZ Countdown," today`s top three "SHOWBIZ Secrets Revealed," including what really happened to the young news anchor who got fired after dropping the F-bomb on his very first day on the job. He just went on "The Today Show" this morning and explained how and why his epic meltdown happened. But is that wild revelation enough to beat this? Gwyneth Paltrow was just named "People magazine`s" world`s most beautiful woman. Gwyneth has been getting nothing but heat lately, including criticism for selling bikinis for little girls. So how in the world did she land that top spot? I`m revealing that, plus, you`re going to find out which big secret will top the SHOWBIZ countdown. SHOWBIZ TONIGHT continues right now.
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Thank you for joining us, I`m A.J. Hammer in New York.
We kick off our SHOWBIZ TONIGHT countdown of today`s top three SHOWBIZ secrets revealed with No. 3. It is A.J. Clemente. This guy is the rookie TV anchor who was fired from his job at a Bismarck, North Dakota TV station after a disastrous first-day debut.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
AJ CLEMENTE, NEWS ANCHOR: (EXPLETIVE DELETED), (EXPLETIVE DELETED).
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Good evening, I`m Van Tieu (ph). You may have seen our newest reporter AJ on (inaudible) North Dakota news, and he will be joining the weekend news team as my co-anchor.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: It`s a different AJ, to be clear. We added the bleeps there, but I think you get the idea.
Well, this morning, Clemente stopped by and opened up on "The Today Show" for the very first time since he was fired. He answered the question that everybody wanted answered. What the heck happened?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
CLEMENTE: The London marathon is my second story. There was literally three names I don`t know how to pronounce at all.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: So you`re trying to pronounce them, you are practicing, and as you kept messing them up, you got frustrated, thinking you still had time before you went on the air. And that is when that stuff came out of your mouth.
CLEMENTE: The fireball shot came right out of my mouth.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yes, the fireball shot that made him an instant overnight sensation. Let me bring in Hyla, the host of DailyBuzz on Celebuzz.com. Hyla from Hollywood tonight, and Hyla, we heard him, he explained what happened. He was nervous, there was a name he couldn`t pronounce. Should he have been fired over this?
HYLA, CELEBUZZ.COM: Well, first of all, I asked the producers before we came on if I could also drop some of my own f-bombs, because I would like to have my "Today Show" debut. But alas, they would not let me, so thanks a lot for that, AJ.
Absolutely, he should have been fired. He said a word that you can`t say, and a station normally gets fined lots of money for that. With that said, they should either, A, hire him back, or he needs to take one of these other job offers that`s being thrown his way. This guy is amazing, and I`m more impressed with what he said after. Not about the cussing, but him being from kind of, sort of from the East Coast in IM.
HAMMER: Yes, kind of reminds me -- what was that, one of the beauty pageant young women. Maybe they should get together. But Clemente`s mistake could be, as you`ve been alluding to, kind of be the best thing that ever happened to his career. I mean, he has been getting these job offers. He got one today from "Live with Kelly and Michael." Watch this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
KELLY RIPA: Can he please be our entertainment correspondent? And I know that we don`t have one of those, but can we get one?
MICHAEL STRAHAN: If there is anything we need a little outside help on, it would be very nice if we could get AJ to do something for us.
(CROSSTALK)
RIPA: I mean, A.J. Clemente, come on.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: That was quite an offer. Let me bring in entertainment journalist, Holland Reid, who worked very hard to get where she is, not by swearing and cussing up a storm. Holland is in Hollywood tonight. Now, Holland, look, I know, this whole thing is really -- people are just goofing on him, but the critics are saying this guy doesn`t deserve a shot at the big time after his big mistake, what do you think?
HOLLAND REID, ENTERTAINMENT HOST: You know, I saw him on the Today Show, I feel sorry for him. It was heart wrenching to watch. I know I have made those mistakes before. Matt Lauer did not call me, but I mean, he definitely deserves another chance. I honestly think he needs to kind of work on his delivery. He didn`t really catch me, if you want to put it that way. But hey, look, we all make our mistakes, we all stumble on our words, like I`m doing right now. Give the guy a chance, he seems like a sweetheart. But man, I mean, if I knew that all I had to do was drop a few f-bombs to get Matt Lauer to call, I`m just saying.
HAMMER: (inaudible) I`m not recommending anybody try this to get a big gig. Look, I think he should have some fun with this, and then I think the competition there in Bismarck should hire him back and let him come up the way we all kind of came up.
REID: Exactly.
HAMMER: All right, let`s move on to number two on our SHOWBIZ countdown of SHOWBIZ secrets revealed. It is Kim K`s fitness frenzy. Kim Kardashian, working out like a fiend to stay fit during her pregnancy. Now, her trainer, Tracy Anderson, just told SHOWBIZ TONIGHT she is pushing Kim to take it easy. Watch this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
TRACY ANDERSON, TRAINER: I train Kim, so I am constantly telling her to relax. Your body is meant to grow right now, you`re bringing another human being into this world. Every woman`s pregnancy journey is different, no matter what. And she needs to just, you know, relax and let it happen.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Let it happen, Tracy really just telling it like it is there. But Kim has said fans do expect a lot of her. They expect her to be a fashionista, pregnancy or not. Hyla, do you feel bad for Kim because of this extra pressure she feels to be fit, even while she is pregnant?
HYLA: No, not at all. I think she embraces moments like this. You know, she did an entire episode about her psoriasis, that`s something that carries a stigma with it, but she was not afraid to deal with it head on. And I don`t think this situation is any different. I mean, if anything, it is more important because she is bringing a baby into the world. This is an opportunity for people, for her to showcase herself, how she really can be. And this is why we love her and this is why so many people watch her show. If she is just Kim Kardashian and doesn`t try to be skinny during her pregnancy, she will be fine.
HAMMER: That`s right. Tracy Anderson, by the way, has worked, of course, with a long list of high-profile celebrity clients. That includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, even Kim`s sister, Kourtney. But last night she told SHOWBIZ TONIGHT that critics had been tougher on Kim than anybody else. I can agree with that. Watch.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
ANDERSON: I think it is really tragic. I hope -- you know, it is very difficult when you even catch wind that somebody is writing something untrue or unfair about you. It is hard to not hear it or be exposed to it even if you are that person. And I think that anyone that would want to mess with a woman who is developing another life, I think it is really sad.
HAMMER: Yes, I think it is really sad, too, as I`ve said all along. I get it, because it is Kim Kardashian, but Holland, let`s think about this for a moment. When people finally come around and get to see those first pictures of a glowing Kim Kardashian, you know, finally holding that newborn, smiling child, do you think people will then start to cut her a break and stop going after her like they do?
REID: You know, I hope so, and I think it is really disgusting when somebody goes after a pregnant woman. Going after her pregnancy is probably the lowest of the low. I went from 118 to 180, I was a beast, but I`m allowed to do that because it`s birth, it`s the gift of life. And for us to attack that in a very vain way, it is disgusting. They need to back off, and hopefully, when they do see her, whether she loses the weight or not, holding her beautiful baby, people will say, look, she`s a mother, she is just like everybody else, and they need to back off.
HAMMER: Everybody else. Holland, thank you for that great insight, I appreciate it, you are never a beast to us. You either, Hyla, thanks for being here.
Well, that takes us to the big reveal of No. 1 on our countdown of today`s top 3 SHOWBIZ secrets revealed. It is Gwyneth`s most beautiful cover. So of course every year we look forward to this. It is "People" magazine`s most beautiful issue. And it was just revealed today that "People" has named Gwyneth Paltrow its most beautiful woman of 2013. This is a controversial choice. The Internet is already buzzing about it. Joining me now from "People" magazine, senior writer Julie Jordan is with me in New York.
JULIE JORDAN, PEOPLE MAGAZINE: Now, Julie, you know choosing Gwyneth, controversial. She has gotten a lot of heat lately. So please, take us inside that "People" boardroom, give us the secrets behind that conversation when you guys made the decision to put Gwyneth on the cover. You have to have talked about it.
First of all, we love buzz, that is what this is about. We want people to generate conversation, talk about it, what they think in terms of agreeing with us or not. The fact remains that Gwyneth Paltrow is stunningly gorgeous. I was even taken aback. Like, she came into the room, I interviewed her, it was daunting because she has flawless skin, she has an amazingly toned body. But the second she sat down and we just started talking, she became a mom. We had tips back and forth about how to keep yourself motivated to stay -- to exercise, and to stay fit. She is actually a very nice person. And it was fun to, like, sit down with her and get through all the mess that`s out there and realize that she is just like me, she is a working mom who feels guilty about her kids, trying to do the best she can. But she is stunning. I mean, she is beautiful and she is very deserving of being on the cover.
HAMMER: That is what this issue is all about. But look, we know the critics have been very, very tough on Gwyneth, even her mom Blythe Danner is defending her in the "New York Daily News." Let me read a bit of what she said. She said, "I can`t stand the bad press that Gwyneth gets. I don`t read a word of it because it is all garbage and bull." You know what. "It`s just frustrated people sitting on their hands." Listen, it has to be bad, Julie, when your mom is so wound up about it.
So, based on what you`re saying, it sounds like critics may get to see another side of Gwyneth in this issue of "People" if they`re willing to allow themselves to be open to that.
JORDAN: Yes, I think they will. And I think once they read the article and they see how she presents herself, because truly, like I said, it is no holds barred. She is not hiding anything. She wants everybody to know that it takes a lot of work to look the way she does.
I kind of love the fact that her mom is defending her a little bit. And I asked her if she paid attention to anything in the press. And she doesn`t. Because she doesn`t want it, A, to filter to herself, and especially to her kids. She had a great way of telling Apple not to worry about anything she saw on the Internet, because it just meant, if someone was being mean, it meant that they were coming from a place of pain, and it had nothing to do with them. And Apple was like, oh, I get that. So she actually very grounded about it all. She knows who she is. She just wants to be a better person, an amazing mom, a great wife. You know, she wants to be happy, and as long as she`s around her family, that`s happening.
HAMMER: That is nice to hear, and I never had a problem with her. I`m maybe one of the few right now, but there you have it.
JORDAN: No, we`re starting a momentum.
HAMMER: Great insight, appreciate it. You can pick up your copy of "People`s" world`s most beautiful issue on the newsstands on Friday.
And as Gwyneth grabs headlines tonight, this guy is not capable of grabbing anything, apparently.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JEANNE MOOS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: He is the bungling burglar who became a late-night joke.
JIMMY KIMMEL: Then he dons a disguise. And returns.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Did you see this? That would-be thief is being called a bungling burglar tonight. He may not have been able to break into that store, but he is most definitely breaking into local TV.
And you have got to see Evian`s brand-new dancing babies ad.
(MUSIC)
HAMMER: Already more than 30 million hits for this thing. Come with us, and we`ll help you channel your inner baby in your SHOWBIZ moment of awesomeness. This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: All right, see this, this guy is being called the bungling burglar, because he seems like he`s straight out of a Benny Hill skit, I swear. Pajama bottoms, a pantyhose mask as an afterthought. A rock through a window that just wouldn`t break. He actually tried to smash his way into a local market that is famous for its pastrami. Even though he did not manage to break into the store, he did manage to break into commercials. Here`s CNN`s Jeanne Moos for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT with the whole wild story.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
MOOS: He is the bungling burglar who became a late-night joke.
KIMMEL: Then he dons a disguise and returns.
MOOS: And though he was never arrested, even after falling down on the job while trying to break into a Redding, California, market, now he has become the star of a very arresting advertisement.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Kent`s Meats and Groceries, award-winning New York-style pastrami. So good, some people will do just about anything to get more.
MOOS: Mom and pop owners Kent and Cathy Pfrimmer credit the guy who handles their advertising for coming up with a concept.
At this point, do you even care if they catch the guy?
KENT PFRIMMER, OWNER, KENT`S MEATS AND GROCERIES: Well, you know, we don`t really care. I mean, he broke our window, you know, you get all this free advertisement, and publicity, why -- how can we be mad at him?
MOOS: But the bungling burglar is not the first lawbreaker to inspire an ad. Back in January, a clothing chain in Brazil made a web ad after being robbed twice in smash-and-grab break-ins. The store Reserva (ph) used the surveillance video with captions. "No need to break the window," it says, "just come in. Clearance sale, up to 40 percent off."
And then there was the Maple Bar caper. Seattle Seahawks receiver Golden Tate (ph) lived in an apartment above a shop called Top Pot, famous for its maple bars. In the middle of the night, Tate and a friend snuck into the closed shop through an open door and took some baked goods. The night baker called 911.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I think they are just drunk and they are acting like idiots.
MOOS: Tate later apologized, saying the maple bars were irresistible. And thus was born this coaster ad. "Irresistible, but please wait until we`re open." As for the burglar whose choice of mask brought comparisons to "Raising Arizona."
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Son, you got a panty on your head.
MOOS: His trail has gone cold, letting police describe the case as inactive, but not his new career in advertising.
So if he came, you probably would give him a free pastrami sandwich?
PFRIMMER: Yes, I think we might give him one.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: So good, some people will do just about anything to get more.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
HAMMER: Free meat for everybody. That is CNN`s Jeanne Moos for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, who did a smash-up job on this, I would say.
As we move on tonight, is "American Idol" about to make a major bungle of its own? So there are these brand new reports tonight that "Idol" has a super secret plan to dump Mariah Carey in the middle of the season. Who could possibly be her replacement? And would it really help boost "Idol`s" awful ratings? We`re taking that on tonight in SHOWBIZ quick hits. And wait until you see what we have named as our moment of SHOWBIZ awesomeness. This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I was not saying she was awkward -- I`m saying - -
(CROSSTALK)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You don`t really disagree with me --
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: No, I do, and I`ll explain. I`ll explain. OK - - simmer down.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Ladies. Tonight, SHOWBIZ quick hits. Mariah Carey getting into it yet again with her fellow "American Idol" judge, Nicki Minaj. But does "Idol" have a secret plan to dump Mariah to boost its ratings? Mariah is at the very top of the list in tonight`s SHOWBIZ quick hits. This is where we take on the day`s top stories at lightning fast speed. We put 30 seconds on the clock. We have got the stories you can`t stop talking about. And tonight, we have got highlights. The host of the Daily Buzz on Celebuzz.com in the SHOWBIZ house.
OK, Hyla, so there were reports floating around today that "Idol" wants actually to get rid of Mariah, bring back Jennifer Lopez, who of course was a judge for two seasons on the show. Watch what Wendy Williams said on her show today about all this talk.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
WENDY WILLIAMS, TALK SHOW HOST: Mariah is a music purist. She is so special that she doesn`t need a clothing line and a nail line. And to be sitting on some judge`s table. She is so special, leave that other side hustle stuff to girls who really don`t sing well, like Jennifer Lopez.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Well, there you have it. All right, Hyla, do you agree with Wendy, is axing Mariah and bringing back J.Lo just what "Idol" needs? 30 seconds.
HYLA: No, "Idol" needs to just retire already. It`s been a great show, a great run. They`ve had a lot of successful stars from the show, but the reality is, it`s done. It is getting beaten now by reruns of "The Big Bang Theory." It has nothing to do with the judges, the talent pool is depleted, let`s retire it on top and let`s move on already.
HAMMER: I am with you, there is not one quick fix for the show. They`re going to have to do something wholesale like either just shut it down completely or be satisfied with the kind of ratings they`re getting.
All right, well, for its part, "American Idol" is calling the rumors ridiculous, and that takes us to something else you just may find ridiculous tonight. And here is something I never thought I would hear, Rebecca Black, the girl everybody loved to hate after her song "Friday" became a viral smash hit, just released a new song. Let me remind you what "Friday" sounded like. Get this in your head.
(MUSIC)
HAMMER: Don`t be mad at me for putting this out there. You can see why there were so many new haters, right? Get this, Rebecca`s new video is a Rihanna cover, which is really shocking. A lot of people were saying today it`s actually quite good. Let`s look at that.
(MUSIC)
HAMMER: All right, Hyla, I`m looking at this and I am actually thinking, maybe it is not so bad. Is this new video going to make Rebecca Black a true star now? A bona fide star, one we can respect and appreciate? There are 30 seconds on the clock, have at it.
HYLA: Not so bad doesn`t mean good. She is not quite good yet. But you`re asking me, can she become a star, can she become a celebrity? Well, she kind of is at this point. She is an online personality. She has close to a million Twitter followers, almost 300,000 subscribers on Youtube. And now that Billboard counts Youtube views as part of its charts, she has a chance to be around for a while. So we may be seeing a star being born before our eyes, yes.
HAMMER: So what you`re saying is a little less flak for Rebecca Black?
HYLA: No, you said that, and that was very clever.
HAMMER: That was kind of terrible. All right, Hyla, I appreciate you being here, as always. Good to see you.
HYLA: Thank you.
HAMMER: All right, whether you are loving or hating that new Rebecca Black video, I know that you are going to think this is all kinds of awesome.
(MUSIC)
HAMMER: I really love this, can`t wait to show it to you. Get ready for the brand new Evian baby water ad. It`s already gotten more than 30 million hits. I am going to help you connect to your inner baby in tonight`s SHOWBIZ moment of awesomeness. This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Time for SHOWBIZ awesomeness, where we name the most awesome moment of the day. OK, so do you remember the roller baby Evian water commercials, with the babies skating to the beat of the Sugarhill Gang? More than 60 million people have watched the video since Evian put it out back in 2009 -- well, now I`m happy to say the babies are back. There is this brand-new follow-up ad that just might be more addicting to watch than this one. It has already gotten more than 30 million hits. And I dare you to not smile while you are watching this video. So get ready now to channel your inner baby.
(MUSIC)
HAMMER: That was kind of creepy. Recognize the music? If you were on the dance floor back in the `90s, you busted a move to that song, the hit, "Here Comes the Hot Stepper" by Ini Kamoze. That`s right. Coming up next on "Dr. Drew on Call," was Travis Alexander a sexual deviant or just your average guy? Dr Drew`s everyday man panel is taking a look at Travis and Jodi`s sex live, right now.
