UNIDENTIFIED MALE: See you next time. Great job by our jury.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Said that to Ryan.
NATASHA CURRY, HOST: Tonight on the "SHOWBIZ Countdown," today`s top three "SHOWBIZ Shockers," including secrets from the Weiner scandal exposed.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: How many conversations did you have with women after you resigned that were sexual in nature?
ANTHONY WEINER, NEW YORK CITY MAYORAL CANDIDATE: I don`t believe I had any more than three.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: Hmm. The brand-new bombshell revelation that New York mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner sexted with three women after he resigned from Congress.
Plus, an eye-opening SHOWBIZ special report, "Chasing Kate." Could the royal baby frenzy be putting Duchess Catherine in serious danger, just like Princess Di?
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT starts right now.
What`s up? How are you doing? I`m Natasha Curry in for A.J. Hammer.
And tonight in the "SHOWBIZ Countdown," we`re counting down today`s top three shockers, and we`re kicking it off, the countdown, with No. 3: Weiner exposed.
Because today, Anthony Weiner exposed himself even more with a brand-new shocking confession. He didn`t just do some sexting with one woman after leaving Congress in disgrace; we`re talking three. And what did he say today about how many women got the Weiner treatment online through the years? Watch this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
WEINER: It`s not dozens and dozens; it is six to ten, I suppose, but I can`t tell you absolutely what someone else is going to consider inappropriate or not.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: And if that`s not enough, the Web site that exposed Weiner exposing himself in a brand-new sexcapade is now revealing the real story of what happened.
Attorney Tanya Acker with us in Hollywood tonight, and Jawn Murray is in Washington, D.C. He`s the editor of AlwaysAlist.com. Thanks, guys.
So let`s begin with Weiner`s latest confession. Today he sexted about three women after resigning from Congress. So, I mean, the grand total could be ten. He keeps changing his story, Tanya, and you know, really, his story has more explosive twists than a Jerry Bruckheimer movie. Is anybody believing anything he`s saying anymore?
TANYA ACKER, ATTORNEY: Well, Natasha, I mean, you really hit the nail on the head with this. The problem isn`t just the sexting, right, you know, and how lewd or crass or inappropriate that may be or is, frankly, when you`re in a relationship with somebody.
The problem is that this is the very same behavior that drove him out of Congress. And so, the notion that he doesn`t really have the judgment or the fortitude to stop doing this when it left him out of one of the highest offices in the land, it drove him out of his job -- the fact that he continues to do it really, I think, gives rise to some judgment issues, some credibility issues. So, no, I don`t know if the people will ever really believe him.
CURRY: Yes, you`ve got to wonder what`s all running through his head right now as he`s continuing to run for mayor.
And Weiner also said one more time today that he`s done with the sexting. We`ve heard that before. Jawn, think anyone believes him?
JAWN MURRAY, EDITOR, ALWAYSALIST.COM: He`s a hard one to believe, Natasha, pun intended.
Listen, this story is just -- it`s out of control, and it has bigger political ramifications. You know, all the political pundits are talking about how his wife, who says she`s going to stand by her man -- you know, this could affect Hillary Clinton`s potential run for the White House.
People are saying that, if she aligns herself with his wife, who always stands by her man, even when he goes through Weinergate, it could affect her potential campaign, as well.
So, this has a huge impact on the political scene, not just on his mayoral run in New York City, but on America as a whole.
CURRY: Yes. And you know, today new information was also exposed about the woman who first spilled the beans that Weiner`s sexting days weren`t over.
Her name, Sydney Leathers. She`s 23 and from Indiana. And the sexual messages and blurred photos that she and Weiner exchanged were first revealed by TheDirty.com.
And the Web site`s founder just revealed on CNN`s "PIERS MORGAN LIVE" how she and Weiner started their online flirtation. Listen.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
NIK RICHIE, FOUNDER, THEDIRTY.COM: Well, what happened was is she actually e-mailed Weiner in 2011, and it wasn`t a nice e-mail. She pretty much bashed him for the whole original sex scandal. And Weiner never responded.
And he must have been feeling creepy one day in 2012 and looked at his Facebook e-mail and saw that she sent this scathing e-mail, and he poked her on Facebook. And she poked back.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: Oh, my. So, now we`re hearing -- we`re all out of control. We`re now hearing the story in such graphic detail, Tanya. Does it make you wonder if Weiner is delusional to think a lot of people, especially the ones who want to make him mayor of New York, are going to say, "So what?"
ACKER: Well, first it makes me wonder what great pun Jawn is going to come up with next, when we turn to him.
But honestly, Natasha, I have no words. I mean, you know, we`re not just talking about somebody who likes to send naughty texts. It`s like he cannot help himself. He can`t just ignore somebody. She was berating him, and here he is, like, jumping on the bandwagon and trying to pull her into his sexcapades.
I mean, it really is -- it`s really -- I really feel like there`s something going on in his head that is beyond, perhaps, the typical cheater, you know, beyond the just normal naughty guy, which isn`t necessarily normal. Yes, I can`t really -- I just can`t quite figure him out, frankly.
CURRY: And there was another brand-new Weiner bombshell exposed today about his marriage. Look.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
HUMA ABEDIN, WEINER`S WIFE: I love him. I have forgiven him. I believe in him. And as we have said from the beginning, we are moving forward.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: Now, we all saw Weiner`s wife, Huma Abedin, defending him at his big press conference the other day, but today, CNN reported that, when she learned that he was sexting again, she came really close to leaving him, and the only reason she didn`t was because she wanted their baby to have his daddy around.
Jawn, with these new revelations today, are you taking bets on how long it`s going to be before she finally bolts out the door?
MURRAY: Yes, someone`s going to call her up and explain to her what shared custody is. Daddy can still be around, and you`ll keep him around on an agreement.
And this is what I think Weiner should do. Forget politics. No one will ever trust you; no one will ever take you seriously. It`s hard enough even with just his last name. He makes these puns really easy.
But listen, take a cue from Kim Kardashian. Call over to Steve Hirsch at Vivid Entertainment. The celebrity sex tape business is big; it`s huge. He likes to show his wiener to the world, he should get paid for doing it.
CURRY: All right, and that takes us to our No. 2 of our "SHOWBIZ Countdown" of today`s top shockers: two very controversial, outspoken music stars taking on the verdict in the George Zimmerman trial.
Rapper Jay Z and rocker Ted Nugent had everyone talking today about their explosive reactions to Zimmerman`s acquittal on charges that he murdered Trayvon Martin.
First, Jay Z telling Rap Radar that he was extremely upset and had some graphic words about Zimmerman.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JAY Z, RAPPER: I was really angry about it that, you know, the thing that we all knew it was still a bit of racism in America. But like, you know, for it to be so blatant was, like, if you just asked the question, ask yourself the question, didn`t Trayvon have a right to stand his ground? A professional law enforcement officer, and I`m taught not to profile. This guy`s a novice. This guy is a (EXPLETIVE DELETED) mall cop.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: And you`ve got to wonder what his conversations were like with his wife, Beyonce.
Then Ted Nugent, though, has the exact opposite opinion, slamming critics of the verdict. When speaking with Massachusetts radio station WXBR, he had some really disturbing things to say about Trayvon Martin. Listen.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
TED NUGENT, MUSICIAN (via phone): How cheap do you have to be to focus on a clear-cut case where all the evidence from the DOJ, from the FBI, from the entire army of investigative specialists in Florida determined that George Zimmerman acted in self-defense against a life-threatening attack by hoodlum, dope-smoking Trayvon Martin?
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: Wow, Tanya. If there ever was a clear example of the great divide that exists over the Zimmerman verdict, Jay Z and Ted Nugent, I mean, they`re it.
ACKER: Well, Natasha, you know, I`ve got to say, I mean, Ted Nugent, here`s a guy who once reportedly said that he used crystal meth and defecated on himself to avoid serving his country. So, I`m not really sure that he`s -- he did later deny that, but I will say I`m not sure that -- he denied it later. I don`t know that he`s the most credible voice in the American political conversation, frankly. So, I don`t have a lot of -- I don`t have a lot of words with respect to his comments.
But I do think that Jay Z pointed out -- made a really good point. Because, while the trial itself may have been around this more legal technical issue of who hit whom first, I think that what Jay Z pointed out is what a lot of people are concerned about, is what gave rise to this initial interaction between these two in the first place? Why did Zimmerman assume that Trayvon was one of the, as we put it, a-holes who always got away?
I think that that`s what is disturbing to people, and that`s really -- you know, and that`s bigger than the trial. That`s what`s not -- that`s what`s not going away, frankly.
CURRY: You make a very interesting point there. And you know, it looks like some potentially racially explosive behavior is coming back to haunt a celebrity who`s had a dramatic fall from grace, and that, you guys, is our No. 1 on our "SHOWBIZ Countdown." The big reveal for that in a moment. Tanya, Jawn, stay where you are.
From "SHOWBIZ Shockers" to a must-see SHOWBIZ special report, "Chasing Kate." Reporters, photographers, fans, they`re all chasing the young royals, desperate to grab the perfect shot of the new family, but could the fierce pursuit turn seriously dangerous, just like it did for Princess Diana?
Plus, did Bruce Willis just give the worst interview of his entire life?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BRUCE WILLIS, ACTOR: We`re just selling the film now. Sales. That`s kind of on par with making the movie.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: The brand-new interview that a lot of people are saying makes Bruce look like a total jerk. I`m one on one with Jamie Edwards, the guy who actually sat down with the acting legend. So, what the heck does he think was going on with Bruce?
This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
CURRY: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Now the big reveal in today`s "SHOWBIZ Countdown," the day`s No. 1 "SHOWBIZ Shocker." Explosive, new racism claims against Paula Deen.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
PAULA DEEN, CELEBRITY CHEF: This is Dora Charles, y`all. She`s my soul sister. Dora and I have been together for about 18 years.
DORA CHARLES, COOK: Yes.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: Now, make that former soul sister. Today "The New York Times" published an explosive interview with Paula Deen`s longtime cook, Dora Charles, where Charles unloads on Paula, accusing her of more racist acts.
Charles said that, yes, Deen used racial slurs, just as she`s accused of doing in that infamous lawsuit filed by a white ex-employee of Paula`s.
And Charles also says that Paula once asked her to stand in front of Paula`s restaurant and ring a dinner bell while yelling, "Come and get it!" and that Paula even asked another black employee to dress up as Aunt Jemima.
So, what is Paula saying about all this? Paula is denying today`s new claims, but they couldn`t come at a worse time, as Paula is losing millions in endorsements because of that racial discrimination suit.
Now, let`s bring in our guests. You know, Paula`s lost so much already. Jawn Murray from AlwaysAList.com. Jawn, is there any way that today`s interview with her ex-cook could possibly make things even worse?
MURRAY: Well, absolutely. I mean, nothing at this point -- no more news could help her, you know?
But listen, Natasha, you know, in case you can`t tell, I happen to be African-American, but I`m one of the few people who I don`t necessarily think Paula Deen is racist. I think she happens to lack culture and sophistication. I just think she`s ignorant.
I think she thought a lot of her ignorance was charming, because we`ve seen the clips of her doing other interviews where she described one of her closest friends, an African-American male, to be as dark as the chalk board that he was standing next to. I don`t really think she recognized the error of her ways until it all came crashing down at this magnitude.
When you start losing endorsement deals and sponsors and your fans start leaving, and the network says, "Take care," then you realize, this ain`t so cute after all. And I really think Paula suffers from word vomit, and it really is the thing that got her in this predicament.
CURRY: Yes, and Charles also says when she and Paula started out 22 years ago, Deen told her, quote, "If I get rich, you`ll get rich." Charles now lives in a trailer.
Today, Paula Deen`s publicist gave a statement to "The New York Times," denying all of Charles`s claims. It says, quote, "Fundamentally, Dora`s complaint is not about race but about money. It`s about an employee that, despite over 20 years of generosity, feels that she still deserves yet even more financial support from Paula Deen."
So back to attorney Tanya Acker with us in Hollywood tonight. So Tanya, is there a point to Paula`s statement here? Could this be more of a money issue possibly than a race issue?
ACKER: I -- I actually think, Natasha, I think that the statement raises even more questions for Paula, frankly. I mean, I know that her representatives say that this woman deserves or had received financial support from Paula. But it was our understanding that this woman was working for Paula. Like, she wasn`t simply -- you know, Paula wasn`t doing her a favor by letting her cook her food and, you know, attend to her catering services and her restaurant services. This woman was actually doing work.
So, Paula wasn`t simply being, you know, a nice, southern lady by letting this African-American woman live off her largesse. This woman was working for a job.
But you know, frankly, I think that we don`t really know enough. Mrs. Charles said that she would still like to be Paula`s friend but perhaps at a distance. You know, I`m paraphrasing.
It`s always easy for someone who`s accused of terrible things to say that it`s only about money, but if you`ve been living in a trailer park for a long time, it seems to me that perhaps, you know, you might have other concerns beyond simply finances.
CURRY: Yes, yes.
ACKER: If this woman was driven by money, she might have stepped up with that a little -- a little before now.
CURRY: Yes. Tanya, John, I guess we`ll have to see how it all shakes out, but a very interesting development, all of this.
And from those explosive, new Paula Deen claims to a high-wattage "SHOWBIZ Newsmaker" interview with a star from the hot new Pringles (ph) series on Netflix, "Orange is the New Black."
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Listen, doc, I need my dosage. I`m given five years, $80,000 and my freedom for this. I`m finally who I`m supposed to be. Do you understand? I can`t go back.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: Laverne Cox is right here tonight to talk about the wild world of women behind bars. Plus, she`s revealing what it`s really like being a transgender actress in Hollywood.
Plus, get ready for a gold-plated edition of "SHOWBIZ Quick Hits." Kim Kardashian and Kanye West reportedly dropped nearly a million bucks on golden toilets in their new Bel Air mansion. Kimye, love you, but are you kidding?
This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
KRIS KARDASHIAN, REALITY TV STAR: What is not chic about my black shower? I mean, I feel like a ninja in this shower. Yes.
KIM KARDASHIAN, REALITY TV STAR: Yes, and the toilet paper`s black. Like, I like to see what (EXPLETIVE DELETED) when I`m wiping.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: Well, that settles that. We learned from Kim`s reality show, "Keeping up with the Kardashians," that Kim hates black toilets, so could that be why she and Kanye are reportedly going for the gold in their new house, so to speak?
It`s time for "SHOWBIZ Quick Hits," where we take on today`s buzziest stories at lightning speed.
First up, Kanye may have washed the throne for his last album, but is Kimye really paying half a million bucks on gold-plated potties for their new mansion? Check out this visual here. Pretty chic, right? I don`t know.
I want to bring in Jawn Murray, editor in chief for AlwaysAList.com.
So Jawn, gossip cops already shot down this report, but we`re wondering, is it really so unbelievable? Because if I made it big, I`d be like, the first thing I`m doing is getting a gold potty.
MURRAY: Listen, Natasha, I did a story this week that Kanye put out an all-white T-shirt, I mean, just like a Hanes, and that it was sold out for like $150 a pop. So, it`s not ridiculous that they would spend a hell of a lot of money on a gold toilet.
I just know if I spent that much money on a gold toilet, it better give me a colonic, a massage and fix me breakfast.
CURRY: And a gold ring around the bum.
MURRAY: Something.
CURRY: All right. And from expensive toilets to an inexpensive way to get your just desserts and dinner all in one sitting, I want you to check this out. A hot dog inside a Twinkie bun. They`re calling it the Twili. And get this: it`s topped with peanut butter and bacon.
This is a one-of-a-kind hot dog. It was only available for just a day in honor of National Hot Dog Day at Pittsburgh Willie`s, which is actually located in Arizona.
So, John, I`ve got to wonder, Pittsburgh Willie, now, why is this Twilly the best new food invention of the year? You`ve got 30 seconds.
MURRAY: Look, Natasha, I was with you when you said just the Twinkie and the hot dog. When they added the peanut butter and the bacon, it went downhill from there.
I`ve had the pretzel dog. I`ve had the corn dog. I don`t know about the Twilly. I say send Anthony Weiner out there. Let him endorse it. It could be life after politics for him. It could be called the Tweiner! Change it into the Tweiner.
CURRY: Oh, my goodness, that was good. OK, Joawn, would you actually -- would you stand in line for one of those? I kind of wonder.
MURRAY: Absolutely not. Now, I`ll stand in line at Krispy Kreme. I`ll stand in line in a lot of places, but you`re not going to get me with the Twinkie hot dog with peanut butter and bacon, no siree, Bob.
CURRY: I don`t know. That`s a lot of meat on there. I don`t know.
Is there any food craze, by the way, that you would -- I don`t know -- be booking a flight for a taste of that?
MURRAY: Listen, I`ll book a flight to St. Louis and go to that place, Sweetie Pie`s, that`s on the OWN network. I`ve eaten there before, and their food is good. That`s the only place that`s worth a flight.
CURRY: All right. Well, Jawn Murray, thanks so much for chatting with us, and as always, you`re always fun.
MURRAY: Thank you, Natasha.
All right, moving on to a dramatic SHOWBIZ special report, "Chasing Kate." Is the paparazzi putting the Duchess of Cambridge in danger with all the royal baby frenzy? No one can forget the tragedy, of course, of Princess Di, so how do Kate and Prince William stay safe in the middle of the media madness?
Plus, awful Bruce. The brand-new Bruce Willis interview that`s downright cringe-worthy.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
WILLIS: We`re just selling the film now. Sales. That`s on par with making the movie.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: So, why the heck is Bruce acting so testy here? We`re revealing the inside story from Jamie Edwards, you know, the guy who went one on one with a less-than-charming Bruce Willis.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
CURRY: Right now, brutal Bruce goes viral. It`s Bruce Willis`s hostile and completely awkward interview that has everyone talking.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
WILLIS: We`re just selling the film now. Sales. The fun part was making the movie.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: And tonight we`ve got the brave interviewer who lived through Bruce`s bad behavior. He`s revealing the inside story of how he kept his cool during the interview from hell.
"Chasing Kate." Reporters, photographers, fans. Could the fierce pursuit turn seriously dangerous for new mom Duchess Catherine, just like it did for Princess Diana?
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT continues right now.
Welcome back to "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT." I`m Natasha Curry in for A.J. Hammer. And tonight, what are you talking about, Willis? As it turns out, when it comes to Bruce Willis, not much! You`re about to see one of the most cringe-worthy, uncomfortable interviews that, perhaps, any star`s ever done while promoting their own movie, and it went crazy viral today. Take a look at a very cranky Bruce Willis there with his co-star, Mary-Louise Parker, in London, being asked the most basic questions about their new movie by Jamie Edwards of London radio station Magic 105.4. Now, Jamie gave me the inside story today. I spoke with him from London, and we`re going to have that for you in just a second here, but first, you have got to see just some of what is already being called the most awkward interview ever. And let me tell you, it wasn`t Jamie`s fault. Watch.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JAMIE EDWARDS, MAGIC 105.4, LONDON: What was your favorite place to actually film in, because you do travel all over the world in this film.
BRUCE WILLIS: Istanbul.
EDWARDS: When did you go to Istanbul?
WILLIS: Oh, not in this film.
(LAUGHTER)
WILLIS: I thought you were just saying my favorite.
MARY-LOUISE PARKER: In general?
WILLIS: In general I like Istanbul. I think it`s a pretty cool place to go.
EDWARDS: At least it proves I`ve seen the film, which is a good thing.
PARKER: Yeah.
WILLIS: Has any actor ever told you this, Jamie? This part is not acting, what we`re doing right now? You might be, but we`re just selling the film now, sales. It`s fun part was making the movie.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: I`ve got to say, watching that interview, it was as if Bruce Willis just did not want to be there. Is there a back story to this? Did something happen, maybe, because sometimes something happens before, you know, you start rolling, maybe something ticked him off?
EDWARDS: Well, no, this is the thing. Because when I when you walk into the room, and you sort of have a little bit of a chat with the talents just as you`re getting ready. They were trying to sort out the camera lights and we were just having a normal little bit of a bouncer, and then all of a sudden, I had asked him whether or not the stretch of water that was behind him was the same stretch of water that they had used during the filming of "Red 2," and he says, I can`t remember. And I just thought then, uh-oh, this is going to be a bit of a problem.
CURRY: Kind of a little red flag there, like uh-oh, something might be up.
EDWARDS: Yeah.
CURRY: And it was such an awkward interview to watch, Jamie, not because of you, but let`s watch a bit more of that here.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
EDWARDS: One of my - my favorite lines in the film comes from "John Malkovich," and he`s giving advice on how to look after women, how to, you know, keep them happy. And I`m going to say it because I think it`s a cracking line, and it`s "Rent Dirty Dancing" and "Tell Him You Love Him." As you are a god to all women, tell me that that is the way to keep your women happy?
WILLIS: Yeah.
(LAUGHTER)
WILLIS: That part`s just a line in the movie.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: So, Jamie, you were in such a tough position, because they weren`t really helping you at all, they were not bringing it. Did it make you kind of just want to jump - start the interview and just start jumping up and down screaming, you know, work with me, people!
(LAUGHTER)
CURRY: You were so calm and sweet.
EDWARDS: You know what, I mean, it`s -- part of my job is to get a sound bite, you know? I work for a radio station, so they just really needed to get one sound they could have played and then use. So it was just a case of just trying to get something out of them. You know, I thought Mary- Louise Parker might have helped a little bit more .
CURRY: Yeah.
EDWARDS: Yeah, she`s got a whole day of working with him.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: Bruce just dug his heels in and was like, uh-uh, I`m not doing nothing. And your interview is spreading around the Internet like Wildfire. Fans are really just taking sides on this. Yoofaloof wrote "And this is the interview to make us all rush out and watch the movie with interest. I`ll save my money." But Jamie, you kept saying in the interview how much you liked the movie. Is that crazy to do - that Bruce Willis fans would let, you know, that he would let his fans see him this way? Because he`s clearly just turning a lot of people off.
EDWARDS: You know, if you like Bruce Willis films, you`re going to like this film, there`s no question of it. He just obviously doesn`t like talking about his movies. It happened here once in London before with a TV show where he was just very short. I think that probably made a few YouTube hits as well. This one just seems to have absolutely taken the world by storm.
CURRY: Well, you were nothing but professional. I`m very impressed with how you handled the interview. And at least you know, you`re getting tons of publicity out of it! Good for you, Jamie.
(LAUGHTER)
CURRY: And my thanks to Jamie for talking to us this afternoon and kudos to him for keeping his cool in that situation. I just hope Bruce calls us and says I was joking. Maybe? Maybe?
But we`re keeping it right here in London right now because we`re hoping that the paparazzi keep their cool and don`t put Kate Middleton in any danger. Tonight, we`re bringing a SHOWBIZ special report "Chasing Kate." The Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William have dropped out of sight after introducing the world to their son, George Alexander Louis. They`re now at the country home of Kate`s parents. But you just know as soon as they get back to London, there is going to be a whole another royal baby frenzy. As CNN News Kate Bolduan shows us in this CNN special "Will and Kate Plus One," this obsession with them, it goes back many years with the memory, of course, of what happened to Princess Di, always on top of mind.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
KATIE BOLDUAN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: At St. Andrews, Prince William lived happily and privately, but as graduation arrived, the agreement that kept the press at bay was gone.
JULES KNIGHT, FRIEND OF WILLIAM AND KATE: The protection that they had enjoyed had finished, and it was open season as far as everyone was concerned from then on.
BOLDUAN: Open season on William and now on his girlfriend, Kate.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Well, I think when they left St. Andrews, that was the real testing point for Kate. Could she cope with the fact that there were photographers outside her flat every single day?
BOLDUAN: The pressure was relentless, and a terrifying reminder of what had happened to Princess Diana.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You know, the accident that`s happening isn`t happening in the streets of Paris, it`s happening in the streets of London and it`s happening to Kate.
BOLDUAN: With the press following her every move and William forced to be away doing his military training, Kate was left wondering what was next. After nearly ten years of secrecy, breakups, pressure and paparazzi, it was finally time for William to pop the question. Engaged. Married. And two years later, pregnant. Finally on July 22nd, Kate was off her feet and in the hospital. Hours of labor and then a prince was born.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Her royal highness, the Duchess of Cambridge, was safely delivered of a son, 4:24 p.m. local time.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
CURRY: And with Prince George`s arrival and paparazzi interest at an all- time high now, you`ve got to wonder just how safe are Kate and the new prince? Henry Miller, who is a British entertainment journalist, is with me tonight from Hollywood. Henry, thanks for joining us. We`ve already seen the massive presence of photographers on hand for the birth of Prince George, and they`re all going for the scoop. They all want it. You`ve got to wonder, will things be any different for Kate and Prince George than they were for Diana and newborn William?
HENRY MILLER, ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALIST: Well, I think there`s been an enormous media scrum outside of the hospital, obviously. The shot that everyone wanted was that first photograph of the baby. With the royal family and the press, there`s obviously this history, and there was the tragic death of Princess Diana that hung over that relationship for so long. But I really think now we`ve reached the point, at least with the mainstream British press, with the reputable outlets, where an uneasy truce has been worked out, and the palace and the press are working more hand in hand these days than they ever have before.
CURRY: Yeah, and we just all had that picture of Princess Di, that crunched-up car in our minds after she died. Just horrific what happened. Do you think that pursuits of Kate could possibly turn dangerous?
MILLER: Well, I think it`s important to remember that at that time, Princess Diana was somewhat outside the royal family as such. So, the protection levels were different. She was - had a private driver. She was with private security. But also, the attitude was different. August 31st, 1997, Britain woke up to the most heartbreaking news imaginable. And at that point, attitudes changed. And I think the newspaper editors realized it couldn`t go on the way that it had been in the past. And so, we saw a situation where newspaper editors decided they were going to abide by a kind of voluntary code of conduct, and they wouldn`t be running pictures that had been obtained in this way.
CURRY: Well, let`s certainly hope that they`re being more careful. I mean, the world watched that scandal play out, too, if we can talk about this. Those topless photos of Kate splashed in a newspaper after a photographer snapped vacation photos. With that kind of privacy invasion happening, how safe is she, really?
MILLER: Well, that`s - that`s a brilliant question. That`s exactly the issue here. Her safety, personal safety may not be as at risk in the same way that Diana`s was, but the risk of humiliation, of worldwide embarrassment, has obviously been underlined just last year with those photos, and this is where that distinction between reputable outlets, mainstream British press, the distinction between them and, you know, Euro trash tabloid magazines that ran those naked pictures, and as I said, humiliated Kate in the run-up to her wedding. So, personal safety might not be such an issue, but embarrassment, there`s an enormous potential for that still to be a problem for the royals.
CURRY: Yeah, certainly so. And of course, the early reports that, you know, Will and Kate were searching for a home away from the spotlight just to raise Prince George privately. We`ll see if that happens. Henry Miller, thank you so much.
We`ve got another blockbuster "SHOWBIZ Newsmaker" interview tonight. One of the breakout stars of the buzz-worthy new Netflix show "Orange is the New Black" is here.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Listen, doc, I need my dosage. I`ve given five years, $80,000 and my freedom for this. I`m finally who I`m supposed to be. Do you understand? I can`t go back.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: Even if you haven`t jumped on the bandwagon, you don`t want to miss my headline-making one on one with Laverne Cox, the African-American transgender actress talking about her transformative new TV role. We`re going inside the wild world of women behind bars.
Plus, David Beckham shirtless! You don`t want to miss this. It`s tonight`s "SHOWBIZ Awesomeness." This is "SBT: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT" on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What do you want from me?
LAVERNE COX: I want to see a doctor.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You can`t go to the clinic unless it`s an emergency.
COX: This is an emergency.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yeah, well, we don`t see it that way. Was there something else?
COX: Yes.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: Whoo! Tonight, a "SHOWBIZ newsmaker" interview with that woman, Laverne Cox, who plays a transgender woman in the new Netflix series "Orange is the New Black," doing whatever she has to do to get more estrogen pills while in prison. So, welcome back to "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT." Laverne`s real-life story is truly remarkable. She`s with us tonight in New York. Laverne, thanks for being on this show. So, in the show, you used to be a male firefighter who then has a sex change operation. So, what I`m curious to know, as a transwoman, how close to home is your character?
COX: Well, I`m trans, but there`s - what`s interesting to me, I think a lot about trans women who sort of overcompensate before they transition to sort of try to be really masculine, and Sophia is that person. A firefighter`s very sort of macho job, but for me, I was very feminine, my whole life, so that`s the difference between me and Sophia, but I relate to her in that she really is just doing whatever she can to be true to who she is and trying to be good to her family and all that stuff.
CURRY: Mm-hmm. And on the show, your real-life twin brother plays your character before you went through your transition. But first let`s take a look at that.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It was set. Where the [EXPLETIVE DELETED] are you going?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Gotta drain the hose.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Anyway, [EXPLETIVE DELETED)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Crying guy with the cat, remember him?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: That wasn`t in the house.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: So, I`ve got to wonder, what was that like for you seeing your twin brother playing out some of the same stuff that you ended up doing in your own life?
COX: It`s so funny. You know, it`s funny. It`s just, I love -- I`m so proud of my brother. I love my brother.
CURRY: Aw.
COX: And he did such an amazing job in the show. He`s not really an actor. His name is M. Lamar, he`s an avant-garde performance artist here in New York City, and he`s so not into this whole mainstream TV thing, and so I was really happy when he agreed to do this.
CURRY: Aw, had to do it out of love. And Laverne, I wanted to share a remarkable story with you today that we learned about. One of these - two of these, two transgendered young teens from Oklahoma, 17-year-old Aaron Andrews and 19-year old Katie Hill. So, he was a girl, she was a boy, and now they`re both transitioning together, and they said they`ve fallen in love. What`s your advice for them?
COX: You know, all my friends are talking about this story. I mean, I`m single. I`m a single woman in New York, so I`m kind of jealous. I don`t even know if I have advice for them. I look at kids who get completely transitioned that early, and I`m just so -- I`m envious in a lot of ways and I`m just so grateful that they get to have these adolescent experiences in their true gender in ways that I didn`t get to have. So, I`m just saying live your life and be happy and be true to yourself. That`s all I have to say to them.
CURRY: And they met in a support group, which is so cool. So much in common. Laverne Cox, thanks so much for joining us and good luck with "Orange is the New Black" on Netflix.
COX: Thank you so much, darling.
CURRY: You bet.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The Dirty.
MOOS: Now, Weiner`s most damaging online chats are way too steamy for us to repeat, but some of the tamer exchanges had commentators in stitches at the blaze TV, as they performed a dramatic reading with Will Cain as Weiner.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You are a walking fantasy.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I don`t want to just be a fantasy, I want to take care of your every need.
MOOS: The man running for New York City mayor inspired glee with a screen name he allegedly used for sexting.

LETTERMAN: The notorious not so B.I.G. and Mahmoud Ahmadinejunk.
MOOS: And then there was the mystery man who kept popping up at Weiner`s press conference.
WEINER: Um, what happened today .--
MOOS: He quickly became known as the cubicle guy. Politico put Cubicle Guy`s "Prairie Dog" pop-ups to music. Some compared him to Wilson.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Romeo and Juliet?
MOOS: The fence-peeper from "Home Improvement" to others, "Cubicle Guy" brought back memories of the "Kilroy was here" doodle.
It turns out, Cubicle Guy was Jeff McKinney, at WOR radio reporter who told WCCO ..
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Cubicle Guy had no idea that he was cubicle guy.
MOOS: He said he had nowhere else to stand, as one online poster put it, he works in radio. He forgets that people can see him. Anthony Weiner`s alleged alias, Carlos Danger, has itself popped up on this "Danger: Carlos Is Around" T-shirt.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You are a walking fantasy.
MOOS: Just don`t fantasize while walking. A word of caution.
WEINER: Be careful, guys.
MOOS: Carlos Danger.

And I think it`s featured in the ad, but I can`t remember, because David Beckham is shirtless!
