NISCHELLE TURNER, HOST: Tonight on the "SHOWBIZ Countdown," today`s top shockers. Tonight the bomb-throwing beauty queen and Utah pageant princess goes from glamour shots to mug shots after getting busted for tossing a toxic cocktail out of her car.
Hollywood reacts to the stunning death of former "Bachelor" contestant Gia Allemand. Gia`s ex-boyfriend and "Bachelor Pad" co-star Wes Hayden is here for a SHOWBIZ TONIGHT newsmaker interview.
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT starts right now.
Hello, everyone. I`m Nischelle Turner in for A.J. Hammer.
Tonight we are overwhelmed with a truly stunning story out of Hollywood and beyond. So we`re counting down the top three shockers of the day, leading off with No. 3.
The emotional reaction to the sudden death of reality star and model Gia Allemand. Gia made a huge mark on reality TV, starring first in Season 14 of "The Bachelor," and returning to reality TV with "Bachelor Pad."
It was this candid moment on "The Bachelor" when she won the hearts of fans.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
GIA ALLEMAND, REALITY TV STAR: OK, OK -- ah! OK.
Gia!
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Ah!
ALLEMAND: "Let`s go over the moon and be under the stars." Shaky.
I`m just so excited to get to know Jake, like, on the level like some of the other girls know him. I think he`s so great and I -- I`m excited.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
TURNER: Gia`s reality TV moments back then are far and away eclipsed by the heartache her loved ones are sharing tonight.
Her boyfriend, NBA player Ryan Anderson, released a new statement to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, saying Gia was the most beautiful person he knew, inside and out and that anyone who knew Gia was blessed.
Tonight, many friends and former co-stars are paying tribute to Gia and trying to make sense to what led to her apparent suicide.
With me now, Wes Hayden is Gia`s ex-boyfriend and a former cast mate on ABC`s "Bachelor Pad" and on the phone, Bob Guiney, who appeared as "The Bachelor" in the show`s fourth season.
Wes, I want to begin with you. What was your first reaction when you heard the news that Gia had passed away?
WES HAYDEN, FORMER BOYFRIEND OF GIA ALLEMAND: Well, I first heard she was in the hospital in critical condition on life support, and my first reaction was just to pray. You know? I called some friends of mine, and, you know, just -- I didn`t know she had passed away yet, and when I found out yesterday, I was just -- totally devastated. It`s a -- it`s a big shock.
TURNER: Yes. Because you guys dated on and off of the show. Could you share with us one of your fondest memories of your time with her?
HAYDEN: Hmm. Well, you know, Gia was pretty goofy, and she was a lot of fun, too. And she wasn`t just a pretty face but she could actually hold a conversation.
And she -- she was great girl, but some of my best times were just, we`d fly around a lot. Do a lot of events together and just talking. Sitting at Chili`s restaurant for an hour and a half, and just talk about God or, you know, what our plans were. Just normal stuff. I mean -- she was...
TURNER: But memories that you hold dear. I understand that. Yes. Memories you hold dear.
HAYDEN: Absolutely. Absolutely.
TURNER: You know, there are so many "Bachelor," "Bachelorette" stars and contestants that have been tweeting about this and talking about this.
Another one -- another one of Gia`s former cast mates is Jake Pavelka. He tweeted today, "I`m in complete shock and devastated to hear the news about Gia. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever known."
Also, Vienna Girardi, she`s a former cast mate. She said, "Gia, you are my angel. You changed so many lives with your beautiful soul and will be missed and loved forever."
And also Chris Harrison, he`s the host of "The Bachelor." He tweeted, as well. He said, "It`s with heavy hearts that we say good-bye to our good friend, Gia Allemande. She was beloved and missed by all who knew her."
Now, I want to bring in Bobby Guiney here, because Bob`s seen the reactions for him from so many former contestants. will be missed and loved by all. Bob has seen the reactions of so many former contestants. Tell me about the bond you all share. Why so much heartfelt reaction here?
BOB GUINEY, REALITY TV STAR (via phone): Well, you know, first and foremost, I`d like to send along my well-wishes and my condolences for everyone. I know last -- Wes knew her very well, obviously, and I personally didn`t. I only met her one time before but, you know, we do run in the same circles a lot, and we do cross paths a lot. And some of my dearest friends were really close friends with Gia and are really hurting today.
And so, like, it`s just one of those things, I think, when you do a show like this and it`s -- even though there`s been so many seasons with so many people on it, it is still a really small community and a really tight-knit group. And so when something like this happen, it certainly affects everybody.
TURNER: Yes. Like you said, you kind of become a family. Even in that small time that you`re together and Wes, I know you saw a much more personal side of Gia that TV fans never got to know. I`m not even sure that you can answer this, but is it possible that maybe her time in the TV spotlight or maybe the pressure could have ultimately played a role in all of this?
HAYDEN: You know, I hate to speculate on anything like that, but I know -- I know for me, you know, being in reality TV, it`s so -- it`s like a roller coaster. I mean, people love you or they hate you, talk about you and then say good things about you. And then you get a little taste of that fame, but not really. You know? And I think maybe trying to keep up, and keep up with all of it. I don`t know. I really -- I`m at a total loss. I don`t -- I don`t know. But I didn`t -- I never would have suspected that she would have committed suicide ever.
TURNER: Well, I can see your pain and you know what? I -- we appreciate you talking to us, Wes. We really do. And our condolences and best wishes go out to you. And it`s important to note, you never know, when you`re look at somebody on the outside, what they`re going through on the inside.
So thank you, guys. Bob, thank you for joining us, as well.
We`re going to move on now to No. 2 in our countdown of today`s top shockers, and it is a stunner. From the newly crowned Miss Teen USA. Cassidy Wolfe, revealing today that she`s the victim of an elaborate hacking and extortion scheme. Just watch what she told TV station WPIX.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: And you were a victim?
CASSIDY WOLFE, MISS TEEN USA: I was, and it`s still an ongoing federal investigation. I was cyber hacked and cyber terrorized about four months ago. My computer and my Web cam were hacked into. So I left to be able...
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: They were watching you in your room when you were unaware of it?
WOLFE: Yes.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
TURNER: Just wow. That is creepy. And you know what that hacker promised to keep those stolen pirated photos away from the public eye but only at a price? Can you believe that?
As Cassidy mentioned here, a full investigation is under way. So let`s now talk to Shauntay Hinton, who was Miss USA in 2002, with me tonight from Hollywood. Thanks for joining us, Shauntay. Also Jenny Hutt, host of Sirius XM`s radio "Just Jenny." Thank you for joining us, as well, Jenny.
I`m going to begin with Shauntay. Now, this young beauty queen, she`s not running from this. Instead, she said she wants to use her new place in the spotlight to warn other kids. And I`m thinking she might deserve a hand clap and a second crown for teen of the year. What do you think?
SHAUNTAY HINTON, MISS USA 2002: Well, look, here`s the thing. If this young, beautiful woman is the victim of a hacking scheme, then I do truly feel sorry for her.
It`s something that`s been ongoing for a very long time, the hacking, getting onto people`s Facebook and all of their social media.
But if we look at that from another point of view, if and when these videos do surface, and we do -- we do know that this young lady is a trained dancer. And if and when these videos do surface if there is any choreography in the video, then we`ll know that maybe this was -- this hack was maybe her elaborate Plan B to, you know, just -- like straight out of the Kardashian handbook to possibly get something going, just in case pageantry doesn`t work out.
TURNER: Shauntay, I`m kind of shocked by what you said.
Jenny, I see a look on your face.
JENNY HUTT, SIRIUS XM HOST: Yes. Hey, Shauntay that is so cynical.
HINTON: It`s true. I`m telling you. A lot of people are building media platforms based on the Kardashian handbook.
HUTT: Yes, but however.
TURNER: OK. Make your point, Shauntay.
HUTT: I mean, I just don`t think that this -- this teen would go all over in the media and say, "I`ve got law enforcement involved, and this is a big hacking situation." It wouldn`t be so orchestrated.
And in terms of her being a dancer, I mean, the kind of stuff that we`ll see, first of all, not everybody who can dance has such great choreographed moves elsewhere, A, and B, I just don`t think that she would do that. That just seems way over the top to accomplish something that she could do just by having it leaked by a supposed ex-boyfriend. It is that sort of thing.
TURNER: Yes, it could be a stretch. I`m not sure. I`m not sure. It could be a stretch.
I want to get you guys, I have another topic that I want to get your take on. It`s time reveal our No. 1 on the "SHOWBIZ Countdown" of the day`s top shockers. It`s a real-live beauty queen bombshell.
Utah beauty queen accused of being a mad bomber. Now, she repeatedly made homemade bottle bombs with the help of a few friends. She tossed them out of a moving car at people`s homes. Terrified neighbors flooded the police with calls. Listen to this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: It sounded like dynamite or loud firecrackers.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Did they all explode?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: They threw "works bombs" at her house, and then they came back and threw some bombs at my house, too.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
TURNER: She is 18-year-old Kendra Gill. She was Miss Riverton. She just now relinquished her crown, and now she faces up to 15 years in prison. And Shauntay, isn`t it Beauty Queen 101 to know you stay out of any situation that will get you into trouble?
HINTON: You know, Nischelle, I just have to say, anyone to do anything this stupid has got to be building a media platform for herself, and once again, let`s go back to that Kardashian handbook here.
HUTT: No, wait!
HINTON: I think -- I think nowadays shame has gone out the window. I mean...
TURNER: Shauntay, I`ve got to jump in here, Shauntay. I`ve got to jump in here. I`ve got to jump in. This is a crime. A crime.
HINTON: I`m saying, don`t put anything past these people.
TURNER: This is a crime.
HINTON: It is. It is. But for anyone to do anything that`s stupid has got to be trying to build a media platform for herself, and thank God we have platforms like VH-1 and Bravo that will welcome this kind of crazy.
TURNER: Jenny, real quick. Real quick.
HUTT: No. To me, maybe it`s a rite of passage. Like, first kiss, first prom, first Molotov cocktail. I didn`t know this was what kids are doing today.
But I don`t think this is about building a media platform. No one would build a media platform by bombing. You`ve got to be kidding me, Shauntay. Where do you...
HINTON: This is quite the antithesis of what P. Diddy did, when you talk about popping bottles, you know.
TURNER: We`ve got to leave your cynicism. All right. We`ve got to leave your cynicism right where it lays, Shauntay. But I thank you, guys, and I appreciate your opinion. I really do. Shauntay, Jenny, thank you very much.
We`ve got to move on now, though, guys, because stars are getting naked. Heidi Klum, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj. Are they stripping down for art, or is it just naked ambition? Tonight, it`s a "SHOWBIZ Special Report," the naked truth about star T and A.
Plus, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West`s baby turns two months old today. Should she get her very own "Vogue" magazine cover to mark the milestone? Yes, I said it, "Vogue." Let`s hear about Kanye`s reported fashion plan for his baby girl.
This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
(MUSIC: THEME FROM "ROSEANNE")
(END VIDEO CLIP)
TURNER: That now iconic theme song first debuted on primetime television 25 years ago. Of course, it`s the theme music from the show "Roseanne," which changed the family sitcom formula forever, from Roseanne`s gay kiss to D.J. exploring, you know, his body we saw a family that didn`t perfectly solve their problems in 30 minutes and kids that didn`t quite fit the classic clean-cut mold.
Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Nischelle Turner in for A.J. Hammer.
Tonight, a "SHOWBIZ Flashback." In real life, the kids on "Roseanne" were pretty clean cut and didn`t become those victims of Hollywood curse, the curse of a child star gone bad.
Michael Fishman, a.k.a. D.J. and Lecy Goranson, who played Becky, are with me now.
We will talk about the big "Roseanne" milestone in just a moment. But first I want to kind of get to some of the former child stars making big news right now. Let`s first talk about Amanda Bynes, if we could. You know, she has just been placed on an extended forced 30-day psychiatric hold. A judge gave her mother control over her finances.
Michael, I want to ask you, do you think that it could be the stress of child super stardom that could have played a role into her now illness?
MICHAEL FISHMAN, ACTOR: Well, it`s hard to speculate. I don`t really want to speculate without knowing her medical condition, but I think it`s not really the stress. Everybody handles stress and things in life. Nobody knows exactly what she`s gone through. And so at this point, you know, I just hope that she gets the help. And she has talent. So hopefully she can come back and have a good career.
TURNER: Yes, and you`re right: She does have talent. And she is -- does seem like a very sweet girl. That`s what makes this all so sad.
Let`s talk now about Lindsay Lohan. Because she is fresh out of rehab. She`s talking to Oprah Winfrey in this in-depth interview this weekend. And let me tell you, Oprah goes there, big time. Watch this with me.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
OPRAH WINFREY, MEDIA MOGUL: When you get the first DUI, is that a wake-up call?
What does it feel like to be both an adjective and a verb for child star gone wrong?
(END VIDEO CLIP)
TURNER: You know, that`s the hot seat. It`s hard to be there. I know. Lecy, I know you know what it`s like to be a former child star. What would you ask Lindsay if you could sit in that chair where Oprah is?
LECY GORANSON, ACTRESS: Well, I think I`d ask her about, if everything were to go away, you know, if her fame and her fortune were to go away, would she still have self-worth? Because I think the real problem is that people identify with that, and that becomes who they are in their minds, rather than who they really are authentically, and that then there becomes a divide.
TURNER: You know, that`s a really good point, and it`s funny that you say that, because we do identify you all so much with the show "Roseanne." Even looking at you now, you really look a lot the same. You`re all grown up, but you really do look the same. Back to...
GORANSON: We have great plastic surgeons.
TURNER: I love that. Hollywood. Let`s talk about "Roseanne," though, because there were so many great groundbreaking moments on that show. I knew I grew up tuned in whenever it came on.
The show was on for nine seasons, and the most legendary episode probably is that "Don`t Ask, Don`t Tell" episode with the famous lesbian kiss. Let`s look at this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MARIEL HEMINGWAY, ACTRESS: Roseanne, we ought to hang out more often.
ROSEANNE BARR, COMEDIAN: I was thinking that, too, but next time let`s leave the wives at home.
HEMINGWAY: Yes. You read my mind.
BARR: Huh?
(END VIDEO CLIP)
TURNER: I love it. But you know...
FISHMAN: Woo, it`s hot.
TURNER: Exactly. But you know, that episode almost didn`t air, because back in 1994, it was considered really racy. And Michael, you know, there was also that episode where you kind of found yourself, about masturbation. Were your parents ever concerned that things were going a little too far on the show back then?
FISHMAN: You know, I -- we never really had that worry. And part of it was because they would contact us ahead of time, and Roseanne many times called and said, "Hey, we`re thinking about doing this episode in a couple of weeks. How would you feel? Would you be OK?" So I always had the feeling that I could say no if I wanted to. And so that kind of alleviated it.
And as long as it`s funny, that`s what we`re -- that`s what we`re doing. We`re doing a real show about real family issues.
TURNER: You know what? I like to hear that. It`s kind of like she still took care of you guys, even off camera, like a mother would.
Michael, Lecy, you guys look great. It`s really good to see you all. Thanks for joining us so much.
And be sure to check your local listings for times when We-TV`s "Roseanne- a-thon," a celebration of the 25th anniversary of "Roseanne."
And speaking of celebration, why not celebrate the last days of summer with a Weiner? Not that one. Well, not exactly. You can`t miss this, though. There are a couple of guys driving around New York in an Anthony Weiner hot dog truck. You guessed it. Yes. They`re giving out wieners.
Plus, Kate minus reality TV. The former star of "Jon & Kate Plus Eight," Kate Gosselin, resurfaces and tonight Kate`s fessing up about her ridiculous diva-tude at the height of her reality fame.
Sorry? Time now for "SHOWBIZ Say What?" That`s James Marsden, posing with some fans at the premiere of "Lee Daniels` The Butler." James plays JFK in the movie. So what`s James really thinking? We asked you to weigh in and here`s what you said.
Kristen C. writes, "I`m sexy and I know it!"
That`s a good one.
And Heather L. just says, "Facebooook!"
Go to HLNTV.com/SHOWBIZTONIGHT and fill in what you think that thought bubble says.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
TURNER: Right now, a bittersweet "SHOWBIZ First Look." It`s the brand-new trailer for one of Cory Monteith`s final films, "McCanick." You know the "Glee" star died from a drug overdose on July 15. Cory plays a drug addict in "McCanick." It also debuted in Canada where Cory was born and died.
Tonight, here`s your "SHOWBIZ First Look" at Cory`s chilling role in "McCanick."
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The cops should come on his birthday.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What`s that?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I get killed.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Here`s an order of notification. It`s been out three months. You know about this?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: His behavior is totally clear.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What`s this?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I have something I need you to follow-up on.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Glamour shot, huh?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You know this guy at all?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: No.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He just got out. A murderer at 17.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What are you doing back here?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I saw him last week. He`s clean.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I`m looking for Simon. You know where he`s staying?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: He paid his debt. Isn`t that enough?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Did you know Simon Weeks?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: He`s done bad things. He is not a killer.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You don`t know him as well as you think.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What happened?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A boy in that situation like you`re talking about that kind of boy. He could lose control.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This isn`t some junkie!
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: People are going to start to say some things answer me, and it`s not true.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I tell you leave it in the dark, and here you come and shine a bright light on him.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Somebody finds out what you did to that kid it`s not just you that goes down. You understand that?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What do you want from me?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I just want to talk.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Ah!
(END VIDEO CLIP)
TURNER: "McCanick" and Cory`s other posthumous film, "All the Wrong Reasons," will both debut at the Toronto Film Festival next month.
Many interns dream of a job when their summer ends. And well, a CNN intern right here in New York may have something way better. Instant international fame.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
OMAR JIMENEZ, CNN INTERN (rapping): Feel like a winner, because I`m a bad man sinner. I`m bringing everything that`s in it, and I just want to scream
(END VIDEO CLIP)
TURNER: Yes, indeed. That`s CNN intern Omar Jimenez eating the competition for lunch with his free-style rap, breakfast and dinner, on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon."
The rock star Omar is right here to talk about killing it on Fallon and whether or not he`s going to give up his budding TV news career for hip- hop.
I was wondering what took so long for this next story to appear. A couple of guys are driving around New York City with an Anthony Weiner hot dog truck. Just rolling with the wieners in tonight`s "SHOWBIZ Hot Flashes."
This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
TURNER: Right now, the SHOWBIZ countdown, stars getting naked. Heidi Klum, Miley, Nicki Minaj. A flood of celebrities are stripping down to their birthday suit. But why? SHOWBIZ TONIGHT gets to the bottom of Hollywood`s naked ambition. Which strip-down star got it right? Plus, has Kimye`s baby girl North West landed a "Vogue" magazine cover shoot before her first birthdays? How Kim Kardashian and Kanye West`s little girl could be the next big cover girl.
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT continues right now.
(MUSIC)
TURNER: Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Nischelle Turner in for A.J. Hammer.
Tonight a SHOWBIZ special report, stars strip down. This summer we`ve seen more naked stars than a Hollywood`s doctor office, and thanks to an explosion of nude photos, just today we have got these brand new pictures of Lady Gaga in a strictly clothing-optional photo spread for "V" magazine. Of course, this isn`t the first time Lady Gaga or any star has gotten nude this summer. Maybe it`s just me, but stars seem extra willing to take it off lately. And SHOWBIZ TONIGHT has found three big reasons why.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
TURNER: We know the weather got incredibly hot this summer. Downright sweltering, and one possible effect of the hot weather, stars have been taking off their clothes. Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Beyonce. It seems stars couldn`t take their clothes off fast enough this summer.
GWEN FLAMBERG, US WEEKLY: It is pretty amazing that all of these celebrities are posing nude.
TURNER: Gwen Flamberg is the beauty and lifestyle director for "Us Weekly" magazine. She tells SHOWBIZ TONIGHT all these naked stars made things even hotter this summer.
FLAMBERG: Celebrity narcissism go hand in hand. So while it`s a little shocking to see naked celebrities, it is not surprising at all.
TURNER: SHOWBIZ TONIGHT can tell you there are three big reasons why stars stripped down this summer. The first reason, for art. Exhibit A. Lady Gaga.
FLAMBERG: She is really comfortable naked.
TURNER: That`s for sure. Her latest nude foray was this video to help a Kickstarter funding project for performance artist Marina Abramovich (ph).
FLAMBERG: She is all about telling her fans, her follower, her little monsters that it`s cool to be whoever you are, whether you`re dressed to the nines or you are stripped down and bare. She`s all about just being yourself, and it that means being yourself in the buff, so be it.
TURNER: Check out this killer cover Beyonce just did for "Flaunt" magazine, wearing nothing but gold glitter and her best Sasha Fierce look.
FLAMBERG: The female body is a work of art in and of itself, and especially when you`re someone like Beyonce, who is not super skinny. She has curves, she is a real woman. She`s a new mom, and she is not afraid to go bare.
TURNER: And actress Lake Bell got everyone talking with her nude cover for "New York" magazine`s fashion edition.
FLAMBERG: I bought that magazine. Talk about sex selling.
TURNER: The second big reason stars stripped down this summer, for a cause. Miley Cyrus went the full Miley this summer, posing nude for a collection of Mark Jacobs` t-shirts as a part of his "protect the skin you`re in" campaign. All proceeds benefit skin cancer research.
FLAMBERG: Miley certainly got people`s attention.
TURNER: And check this out. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which has gotten tons of stars to pose nude for its anti-fur campaign, recently debuted an ad featuring not one, not two, but four Miss USA winners.
FLAMBERG: You`re trying to get people`s attention. What better way than to just be stark naked?
TURNER: And the third big reason stars stripped down this summer? For their followers. Stars from Adrian Curry (ph) to Heidi Klum to Nicki Minaj got way up close and personal on Twitter and Instagram.
FLAMBERG: There is no better way to gain Twitter or Instagram followers than to post a really cool naked picture of yourself.
TURNER: The nude pics phenomenon even hit the guys. Donnie Wahlberg sent out this fresh from the shower shot right before hitting the stage with New Kids on the Block.
FLAMBERG: There are some dudes out there of all ages who are very proud of their bodies and have been showing off this bodies this summer. A little disconcerting, Geraldo Rivera. Talking to you.
TURNER: Oh, Geraldo. In July, the 70-year-old newsman got the most attention since he has gotten since he`s cracked open Al Capone`s vault, all for sending out this half-naked selfie late one night, he says after drinking tequila.
FLAMBERG: There should be a boundary on what the world can see.
TURNER: So it turns out stars have lots of reasons to strip down that have nothing to do with the summer heat, and we also have lots of reasons we love to watch them do it.
FLAMBERG: They`re celebs, they have got these gorgeous bodies. They are not mere mortals like the rest of us, and they show them off.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
TURNER: Speak for yourself, Gwen. So the stars are stripping down. Is it art, is it vanity? Is it exploitation? Let`s talk about it. OK? With me in New York, Jenny Hutt, author and host of Sirius XM show "Just Jenny," and in Hollywood, celebrity publicist Kita Williams. Jenny, I want to begin with you.
JENNY HUTT, SIRIUS XM HOST: I have a lot to say about this.
TURNER: I`m sure you do.
HUTT: No. 1, I`m not putting up any naked pictures. No. 1, I`ll lose followers. So we can start with that. No. 2, I`m a mom. So, ew. But I have to say, Lady Gaga about a year ago was doing the rounds about some weight gain, saying how she was so comfortable with her physique, with a bit of weight she`d gained, and I said then that we were going to see her six months or so later skinny. Look, naked skinny Lady Gaga, surprise!
TURNER: In the woods, mind you. Naked skinny Lady Gaga in the woods.
HUTT: Of course. But I have to say, looking at someone like Miley Cyrus makes me uneasy, again, because I`m a mother. I look at Miley as a child, and I`m like, put on some clothes, kid. Please.
TURNER: Kita, you heard Jenny`s take. But clearly all these stars have different reasons for stripping down. I have to wonder, though, if it gives them this attention that they really need or they really want when they do something like this?
KITA WILLIAMS, CELEBRITY PUBLICIST: Speaking from a P.R. perspective, right now I think there`s no such word as boundaries. I think publicly a lot of celebrities are competing with what`s out there right now, which is the reality show format, which is seeing the real person, per se. So I mean, I think the best part about it, is when you see those naked pictures, you`re going to talk about it. But beware. What you put out we`re going to critique.
TURNER: Yes, that is true. We`re going to critique it. Critique every little nook and cranny.
HUTT: Look, I don`t mind -- listen, I think you have a great body and want to show it, go for it. I do think that the boundary thing is an important point, and that`s why I wanted -- too young a starlet can make someone like me feel uneasy. I just --
TURNER: I hear you. But do you have a favorite? Because I`ve seen a few this summer. Who`s your favorite?
HUTT: Yes. Lake Bell. I love that picture of her. Who knew, who knew that that`s what Lake Bell look likes? I mean, my goodness, and the movie she`s in is fantastic.
TURNER: Yes. It really is. Kita, what about you? Do you have a favorite?
WILLIAMS: Oh, my goodness, of course I do. Come on, I`m a publicist. I have to stay in the journalism world. It`s Geraldo Rivera. He`s 70 years old.
HUTT: Oh, God. No! Look away.
WILLIAMS: Doing what most of us could not do at 70. You have to give the man credit for having bravery with this picture, but I have to take my hat off to him and say you know what, you go, boy. You`re looking good.
TURNER: Kita Williams, I don`t have to give him credit for that at all, and I have lost a gallon of respect. That -- oh. But you know what? Geraldo brings up an interesting point, because we are seeing a lot of guys strip down. Especially for Twitter and Instagram. My favorite picture of the summer is actually a man. It`s ESPN, the body issue, Collin Kaepernick. Ooh. Hello.
(CROSSTALK)
TURNER: Exactly.
But Jenny, putting Anthony Weiner aside, what do you think of these guys doing it?
HUTT: Since you mentioned it, look, I think you have to really like the guy a lot to want to see him fully naked. All right? Otherwise it`s like, ooh, put it away. But if he`s -- just a -- if he`s a handsome guy, with a great body, then show part. I`m cool with that. But I don`t need to see his private particulars. I am just not interested.
TURNER: What about you, Kita? The guys taking these naked selfies, and having these naked pictures out there? What do you think about that? You are engaged, remember, you`re engaged.
WILLIAMS: I know I`m engaged, but it`s fair game out there, ladies. You have to remember, we live in this world where women have been showing their naked bodies forever. "Playboy" pinups. I think it`s time for men to get out there and show a little bit of something. Like I said, their packages will be critiqued (inaudible), if I say so myself.
(LAUGHTER)
TURNER: I`ve got to let that sit for just a second. I know no one missed that one.
Kita, Jenny, Kita, even though you loved the Geraldo picture, you know we still love you here on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. Thank you guys so much. It was a lot of fun. You made me laugh, ladies.
Well, we know what happens when politicians like Anthony Weiner go ahead and get naked. Come on. You knew this one was coming. It is the Anthony Weiner hot dog truck, and it`s roaming the streets of New York just like the disgraced politician roamed the Twitter sphere.
Also ahead, one of CNN`s own goes viral.
(MUSIC)
TURNER: I could take him in a rap battle. Just kidding.
That`s a CNN intern, and he just won Jimmy Fallon`s battle of the instant rappers. We have got Omar Jimenez, a/k/a OJ Tropicana in the SHOWBIZ house tonight, we are putting him to the test again.
Plus, wait until you see what we named as our moment of SHOWBIZ awesomeness. This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
TURNER: Tonight on SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, Geico`s 15 minutes of fame.
(MUSIC)
TURNER: OK, that is CNN intern Omar Jimenez, rapping for his breakfast with Jimmy Fallon. Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT. I`m Nischelle Turner in for AJ Hammer. We`ve got a brand new rap star on our hands, ladies and gentlemen, 19-year-old Omar Jimenez was picked out of the audience, and he had just one hour to write an original rap to a random title, "Breakfast for Dinner," and he won. Omar joins me right now. Omar, congratulations, my friend. Great job. Great job.
OMAR JIMENEZ, CNN INTERN: Thank you so much.
TURNER: You`re welcome. Now, when you were picked and you heard this random title, "Breakfast for Dinner," did you say, oh, boy, for a second, have a moment of panic?
JIMENEZ: See, the thing was "Breakfast for Dinner" sounded like a great topic to me. There are a lot of great options. My moment of panic was when I actually started to write it, and I sat down, and I was back stage, and like The Roots walked by, and I was like, oh, my gosh. Where am I?
TURNER: Like I really need to do this and come out, show improved, right?
JIMENEZ: Exactly.
TURNER: Exactly. So after you won, did you come back here to your internship at CNN, and say, hey, everybody, by the way, you might see me on TV?
JIMENEZ: It was a thing. It was a Friday night and it was pre-taped. And so, you know, no one really knew about it until, really, when it aired that night, around 12:30. It wasn`t until Monday morning when I came back, everyone had seen it. Everybody I was working with was like, oh, my God, why didn`t you tell me you were going to be on Jimmy Fallon? We saw it this past weekend. It was crazy. So yes, it wasn`t really until that next Monday.
TURNER: And why didn`t you tell us you could flow, right?
JIMENEZ: I got to keep my lives separate. You know, it`s my rapping life and I have a journalism life.
TURNER: I want you to take a look at a little more of your piece here. Let`s take a look.
(MUSIC)
TURNER: Omar, you`re making me bob my head a little bit. I think I like it. I think I like it. You know what? You also got a really nice note from one of your teachers. I want us to look at this here. It says, "Omar, awesome performance. Your sixth grade teacher, Mrs. L."
Do you remember Mrs. L.?
JIMENEZ: I do, I do. And it`s so funny, because I kind of lost contact with her, and I was looking at the video online, and I saw Ms. Lucear (ph). I was like, oh my God, I haven`t seen you in so long. So that is funny that she commented on that. I definitely have to reach out to her and tell her thank you.
TURNER: You`ve been getting a lot of response on social media, FaceBook, Twitter, all that stuff?
JIMENEZ: Yes. My FaceBook has been literally like a nonstop wall of people saying, oh, my God. We saw you. It was amazing, can`t believe you were on there. And I mean, I`m still in disbelief, honestly.
TURNER: OK. So we know you can write rhymes. But you want to be on television. Can you write a television news package? What`s your dream job to be in this industry?
JIMENEZ: Well, my dream job is to be on camera like I am right now, but doing a show about news. So, a network correspondent one day on national television and, I mean, basically what you`re doing right now.
TURNER: Well, you`re well on your way, my friend. And you`re much better than me. Because I would have said, I eat egg whites, but not with this, and so I never would have gotten a rhyme out. I still would have been ordering (ph). All right, Omar Jimenez, way to go, thank you very much.
JIMENEZ: Thank you so much.
TURNER: Sure.
Well, one of the baddest in the rap game himself, Kanye West is making some big news tonight. It looks like he`s not content to just grab magazine covers for himself. Oh, no. There are brand new reports that Kanye`s already planning for his baby girl, North West`s, first glam shoot. Yes. Does Kanye West really want to reveal North West to the world on the cover of "Vogue?" Plus wait until you see what we named as our moment of SHOWBIZ awesomeness. This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Kate and I decided to separate.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes. We have decided that we will separate.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I tried to contemplate and think about it would it be better for -- it`s just not good for our kids, for us to be arguing in front of our kids. And it just -- we can`t be cordial with one another. And we decided to separate.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
TURNER: That was Jon and Kate Gosselin back in 2009 announcing their split on their family reality show as millions of people tuned in. Not a whole lot has happened since then. Kate Gosselin went from hottest reality star to tabloid fodder. Now, Kate`s confessions about life after reality TV stardom tops our SHOWBIZ hot flashes today, where we take on the hottest headlines of the day. Gosselin just revealed a bombshell about her new life without the cameras and says getting on TV at any price is not the name of her game. She reveals she`s turned down plenty of offers to appear with her ex, Jon Gosselin, telling "People" magazine, quote, "there are plenty of people who would do anything to be on television, but I`m not that girl. So everyone who thinks I`m starved for fame should know I do draw the line."
All right, let me bring back Kita Williams, celebrity publicist, and best known for VH1`s (inaudible) show. You know, Kate could probably make a mint off that TV reunion, I`m thinking, if she did this with Jon, Kita, but she says she`s not going to do it. Does that surprise you?
WILLIAMS: It surprises me. It really does. I think, you know, for me personally, I love "Jon & Kate Plus Eight." I think she has to think about the reality in terms of she has eight mouths to feed, eight tuitions for college. That could be the money that she puts away for them in terms of the payday. But maybe it`s just not the right price yet. I understand that the cameras were around them for years, so it may not be Kate`s decision. The kids are old enough now to be able to say, hey, mom, I don`t want to do that anymore. So maybe she`s listening to her babies.
TURNER: If you were her publicist, would you say, get that check?
WILLIAMS: I`d say, listen, come here, come here a little closer. I need you to go get that check so we can get this P.R. machine going so that we can rebrand you. I think that`s the major part about it. Kate has eight children. There is a lot of stuff that she could share. I just think Kate got caught up into the fame spotlight, and it got ahold of her, and it kind of destroyed her taste for what reality TV brings to the table.
TURNER: It`s interesting that you said rebranding, because she also admits she wasn`t very easy to deal with when she was on the show. She addressed reports that her show was canceled in part because of her antics. Now, do you think if she got another shot on TV, like you said, people could actually grow to like her, if she rebranded herself?
WILLIAMS: Absolutely. I think that`s the one thing that she might want to think about doing. I mean, there`s a lot of things that celebrity brings to the table. No. 1, is financial security, if it is done the right way. And in branding, it`s more than just a TV show. It`s really having those other appendages that come off of your brand, similar to Bethenny Frankel, Kim Kardashian, Martha Stewart. There is so much more that she can do if done properly. And part of that will be changing her attitude to become likable. That is the biggest thing about P.R.
TURNER: Being likable. We got to move on to our next hot flash, though, Kita. And it`s a hot dog. It is Anthony Weiner, a/k/a Carlos Danger on the side of a hot dog truck. You know, his online alias is now the theme of a food truck that`s making rounds here in New York City. They are handing out free hot dogs and the opportunity to tweet Weiner from one of their computers on their food truck. Kita, they say all publicity is good publicity, but I can`t -- you know, this can`t be good. He can`t help this, he can`t get past the sexting scandal?
WILLIAMS: He can`t get past any of it. Now that they`re making of it with a hot dog truck? Who`s going to vote for someone that first of all has a hot dog truck, and your name is Carlos Danger? There`s so much more that we could learn from this. I just think the biggest thing is he needs to go have several seeps (ph), as I love to say, and think about what his next career move should be.
TURNER: Yes, he is no. 4 in the polls right now, so it might be time to think of plan B.
Let`s get to our next hot flash, though. Kanye. One of our other favorite topics. Courting "Vogue" magazine. Now, according to a brand new report today, Kanye West is trying to convince Anna Wintour to put him and Kim`s baby girl North West on the cover of "Vogue." Kita, now, Suri Cruise made her debut on the cover of "Vanity Fair," so could this baby, Kim`s baby, and Kanye`s baby, grace the cover of "Vogue," or is that just crazy with a capital K?
WILLIAMS: That`s krazy with a capital K and that`s crazy with a couple of exclamation points behind it. Let`s be real. "Vogue" magazine is considered to be one of the most prestigious publications out there. And I`m not trying to knock the Kardashian machine, because we do know it`s brilliant, but there comes a point in time, and I think Anna Wintour understands, that her readership, they`re not looking into this kind of mockery of what the publication brings. I think Kim and Kanye are smart about trying to take it up a notch, and compete in that field, but I mean, let`s be real. The couch dress that she wore to the Net (ph) ball and the fact that she had to get a ticket to go to the Net ball with her baby daddy, I highly doubt they`ll be covering "Vogue" magazine.
TURNER: She`s trying to upgrade, Kita, she`s just trying to upgrade herself. Thank you very much, my darling. You look beautiful. Thanks for joining us today.
WILLIAMS: Thank you.
TURNER: All right. And there is no better way too cool off from those summertime hot flashes than this. Check out the beach chair for the coolest pool dunk I think I`ve ever seen. 11 dudes, one basketball, and a pair of rollerblades. I don`t even know what else is going on here, but I do know that you are going to need to towel off after you see how these guys pull off an absolutely sick alley-oop. It is tonight`s SHOWBIZ awesomeness. This is SBT, SHOWBIZ TONIGHT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
TURNER: It`s time for SHOWBIZ awesomeness, that is when we reveal the most awesome story of the day. Tonight, the summer of crazy pool dunks continues with the craziest pool basketball dunk ever. Uh-huh. It`s got 11 guys and it involves rollerblades, a skateboard, a dude standing on his head. You think Beyonce knows how to choreograph a performance? Watch these guys, then tell me if you`ve ever seen a tighter routine than this.
I mean, come on. Come on, guys! That is nice. So nice I`ve got to see it twice. That is just amazing.
Thanks for watching, everybody. I`m Nischelle Turner. Watch SHOWBIZ TONIGHT Monday through Thursday at 11:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific. HLN continues right now.
