Hello and thank you for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer.
Tonight in the SHOWBIZ COUNTDOWN, we are counting down today`s top three shockers. We kick it off at No. 3 and bring you an exclusive tonight, the shocking claims by the lead singer of The Calling, who says he was kidnapped and beaten.
You know Alex Band and The Calling from their huge hit song, "Wherever You Will Go." Well, they were just about to make a major announcement about a comeback when Alex Band said two guys grabbed him in Michigan at 3 in the morning right where he had just performed. They threw him in a van and beat him to a pulp.
Well, today SHOWBIZ TONIGHT obtained these photos of the injuries Alex says he suffered during this ordeal. But of course, right away, as you might imagine, there were some disturbing questions about whether this was just some kind of a publicity stunt tied to the comeback.
SHOWBIZ TONIGHT bringing you this exclusive interview that Alex Band just did with CNN`s Tory Dunnan, calling claims of a hoax nonsense.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
BAND: I can`t help that in my first shows this just happened to me. I didn`t kidnap myself or beat the crap out of myself. So the whole hoax thing is honestly kind of disgusting to even think about or hear.
Two guys grabbed either shoulder and pulled me into, like, a van. The first thing I was greeted with was a police baton to the face. They smacked my face. And that`s why I got all here -- I couldn`t see out of this eye. This was all swollen here. Here, the nose laceration, teeth. Then I got a knock on the shoulder, because it`s gross but stitches in here. So I got all cut inside my mouth.
The guy actually said, "I`m sorry I have to do this" and put the gun to my head. And he was going to kill me. And he asked me again to give him the money.
I said -- I was like, "Bring me back to my hotel." I was like, "I will find every dollar I can, dude. Please don`t kill me." And at this point I was crying. I`ll admit it. I was scared. And I was pleading for my life.
And then it occurred to me. I was like, "I just found out like a couple weeks ago that I`m going to be a dad."
TORY DUNNAN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: So what did they do when...
BAND: He said, "It`s your lucky day," and he kicked me out of the car onto the train tracks. And that`s when I hit the tracks, and I fractured the bone in my lower spine. And I was -- I was unconscious. And they left. He didn`t kill me.

HAMMER: Wow. How completely terrifying. And that is what he exclusively told CNN`s Tory Dunnan. Tory joining me tonight from Hollywood.
So I`m watching Alex there, and you know, he seems pretty beat up. He seems very aware of the fact that, because his abduction happened nearly at the same time that his band was announcing their comeback, that some people do think this might be a hoax. But you sat there right across from him. Did he seem believable to you?
DUNNAN: You know, A.J., I think ultimately that`s going to be up to the public to decide. But as you mentioned, he definitely realizes the irony in the timing behind all of this.
And one of the main reasons why wanted to do this interview, A.J., is that he wanted to sit down and address the allegations that all this was a hoax.
Another thing that he did want to point out is that, because he`s back out in the public eye, that he`s not sitting in his studio only recording, that he`s out playing, he says the chances of something like this to happen would go up greatly.
So he is flatly denying this at the point, that it is a hoax. And as I mentioned, ultimately it`s going to be up to the public to decide that.
HAMMER: And I have a feeling your interview`s gone a long way towards helping that along, because I`m watching him, and I found him completely believable there.
CNN`s Tory Dunnan. I do appreciate you bringing that exclusive to us.
Joining me now, my guest co-host Nischelle Turner tonight.
So Nischelle, the cops said today they`re taking Alex`s kidnapping story very seriously. And personally, I don`t see why we shouldn`t give him the benefit of the doubt, particularly having listened to him in that CNN exclusive there.
NISCHELLE TURNER, CO-HOST: Yes. You know, I agree, A.J. I don`t think we should doubt him until we have reason to or until the police say otherwise. So I think we should take him at his word. It does look like he was beaten up a bit. We didn`t get to see him right after this happened. This is a couple days removed. But he definitely does have some bumps and bruises there that we see.
So I say yes, let`s give him the benefit of the doubt at this point.
But what I want to do is actually bring in Sheryl Lee Ralph, who is now starring on Showtime`s hit drama, "Ray Donovan."
Hi, Sheryl. How are you?
SHERYL LEE RALPH, ACTRESS: Hi there. I`m great, thank you.
TURNER: Well, good. You know, Sheryl, we see these types of crazy plots all the time on a show like "Ray Donovan." But I want to ask you, does Alex Band`s claim seem believable to you?
RALPH: Of course it seems believable. But first let me say this. If it really happened, I`m very sorry. If it didn`t happen, I`m very sorry. A hoax like this, I have seen it before. Do you remember Tawana Brawley? Mm.
TURNER: Oh, yes. Yes. Definitely. How could you forget that? You know, but his manager says that he found him beaten up and that he called 911. Let`s listen to a little bit of this call. OK?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: And you`re saying that someone with you was kidnapped?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes. They were kidnapped and jumped...
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: By who?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The singer of the band that I tour manage.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The singer of the band that you manage?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: That`s who kidnapped them or that`s who you have?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: That`s who I have. I don`t know who kidnapped him. I need police to come here so we can file a report and...
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: How do you know they were kidnapped?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Because he`s bleeding all over the place and I found him on the side of the road.

TURNER: You know, this is a crazy -- if this is a hoax, this is one of the craziest ones I`ve ever heard of, A.J.
HAMMER: Yes. No question about it. And look, he`s got the bruises to prove it. And there`s a lot at stake if you`re making something like that up.

HAMMER: Walter White there from AMC`s "Breaking Bad." Not the only one making an urgent call on Sunday night on the phone, because while "Breaking Bad" was airing, well, the cable went out in Fairfield, Connecticut. Panic ensued, and some viewers got so upset they actually, really and truly called 911.
And SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, of course, obtained one of those 911 calls today. You`ve got to listen to this person who clearly really hates missing her TV shows.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Hi. I`m just trying to figure out what`s going on. We have no TV.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Is this a life-threatening emergency?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: No. We`re just trying to find out what`s going on. Is it a life-threatening time?

HAMMER: Whoa. Definitely a ticked-off 911 operator there. Listen, again, "Breaking Bad" one of my favorite shows of all time. Calling 911 when your cable goes out, not cool, although Sheryl, I`m thinking maybe somebody told her, "If you miss `Breaking Bad` tonight, you`re going to die."
RALPH: Let me tell you something. I wanted to call 911 when I couldn`t get "Ray Donovan" because my cable was out. They`re having some sort of a war. So I understand how she feels. But she should have called somebody else. Maybe not 911. Come on, Fairfield.
HAMMER: Yes. The same thing happened to me with missing "Ray Donovan," as well.
Nischelle, I don`t know. As a friend of mine would say, two scoops of crazy.
TURNER: Two scoops and a cherry on top, for sure.
RALPH: Two.
TURNER: I will say, though, the other night when mine went out when the "Real Housewives of Orange County" reunion was on, I went like that.
HAMMER: Listen, I pulled down the list, and here`s what else was on TV when the cable went out in Fairfield, Connecticut.
RALPH: Oh, my.
HAMMER: On ESPN you could have missed the big Yankees-Red Sox game. That`s where A-Rod got plunked with the baseball.
On OWN, of course, was Oprah`s big interview with Lindsay. Here on HLN, "WEEKEND MYSTERIES." Showtime, Sheryl Lee, your show, "Ray Donovan." And I know some of those calls had to have been coming in because "Ray Donovan" would be missed.
RALPH: I`m telling you, I miss it. And everybody keeps asking me, is Nicki really going to hook up with Claudette? Well, you`re just going to have to wait and see for that.
HAMMER: Listen, stay where you are. Don`t call 911 unless you have a real emergency, because we have the big reveal of the day`s No. 1 shocker, ready to roll. This is something. In tonight`s SHOWBIZ COUNTDOWN, the day`s top three biggest shockers. And now the big reveal, and we really do mean big tonight.
It`s No. 1. The world`s heaviest man. This is a 20-year-old Saudi Arabian man who weighs a remarkable 1,345 pounds. Well, today we learned that he`s on an incredible journey to lose weight. This is certainly bigger than anything Jillian Michaels ever tried on "The Biggest Loser."
The man who`s behind this weight-loss effort is the king of Saudi Arabia. We`re talking about forklifts, special airplanes, a major coordinated effort from literally all the king`s men.
Here`s CNN`s senior medical correspondent Elizabeth Cohen for SHOWBIZ TONIGHT.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
ELIZABETH COHEN, CNN SENIOR MEDICAL CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Meet Khalid bin Mohsen Shaari. At 1,345 he may be the heaviest living man in the world, and he`s not even 21 years old.
Shaari hasn`t been able to leave his bedroom for more than two years. These pictures show the dramatic moment when he was taken out of his home using a forklift. Part of it had to be demolished to bring him out.
DR. ROBERT LUSTIG, PEDIATRIC ENDOCRINOLOGIST: It`s obviously an extreme case. The chances that this guy is really sick are really high.
COHEN: It`s unclear how he got to be this severely obese. But Dr. Robert Lustig, a leading pediatric endocrinologist, has a theory.
LUSTIG: I don`t think he can eat himself to 1,345 pounds, but he can certainly drink himself to it. Liquid calories don`t stimulate satiety like solid calories. It`s hot there. And so it goes down really easy.
COHEN: Liquids don`t fill you up the way food does, so perhaps he never felt satisfied.
Saudi Arabia`s King Abdullah is paying for a military plane to transport Shaari to Riyadh to undergo medical treatment. Step one, says Lustig, a restrictive diet, not weight-loss surgery.
LUSTIG: You can`t do surgery on him now. It`s too dangerous. You`d basically have to keep him in the hospital for years on a restricted calorie diet. At some point it will become safe to do a bariatric procedure.
COHEN: According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the heaviest living man in the world has been Manuel Uribe from Mexico. He topped out at 1,235 pounds but has managed to lose some weight and is down now to 980 pounds.
Shaari is not alone. Obesity is a serious issue in Saudi Arabia, with more than 35 percent of its citizens considered severely overweight.

HAMMER: Wow. You know you`re in serious trouble when you`re so big the king`s got to get involved.
Elizabeth Cohen joining me now from Atlanta.
So Elizabeth, they said this guy can`t have surgery. What is it exactly that they can do for him?
COHEN: Yes, A.J. All they can do, really, we`re told by doctors is just put him on a very low calorie diet and keep him in the hospital for two reasons. One, to monitor his health and, two, to make sure he sticks to that diet because it`s not going to be easy.
HAMMER: No question about that. And it`s just stunning to look at any human being who gets to be in this kind of condition. What shocks you the most about this story?
COHEN: You know, it`s just the question that lingers in my mind is how did this happen? You know, we just heard Dr. Lustig say that perhaps he drank his calories, but still, that`s an enormous a calories to drink. He wonders if there`s some underlying medical condition. You wonder what was going on in his household. It`s just -- it`s just such a huge question mark how he got to be that big.
HAMMER: I mean, what was your best sense of how that happened when you first heard about this guy and saw his story?
COHEN: You know, I don`t know, but I know that it is likely something very unusual. I mean, it`s really unusual to get this big. So there`s probably something here that we just don`t know.
HAMMER: Well, at least we know he seems to have the right people on his side right now. Elizabeth Cohen, great to see you. Thanks so much.
COHEN: Thanks.

He`s 51 now. He has cleaned up his act. And this elder statesman of pop wants to make sure that Justin Bieber doesn`t go off the rails like he did.
Justin`s bad-boy behavior includes being busted on tape for going to the bathroom in a hotel mop bucket, fighting with a photographer, and of course, all those reports of him speeding through his neighborhood in his Ferrari. So maybe the Biebs should listen to Leif.
Sheryl Lee Ralph back with us from Hollywood. Sheryl`s now starring in the hit Showtime series, the amazing "Ray Donovan." and Sheryl, I want you to listen to what Leif just said about Justin Bieber. And I think this is dead on.
He said, "Do not believe your own publicity. Sussing out who your real friends are is full-time work. Every scum bag, every drug dealer, every chicken hawk wants a piece of you."
He`s dead on, isn`t he?
RALPH: He is absolutely right on. Fame, like I have said before, can be a very prickly friend. And a lot of people like to build you up just to take you down.
And when Leif Garrett talks -- talks about where he`s been, it`s like that song, "Started from the bottom and we`re back here again."
HAMMER: Yes.
RALPH: He has been through it all.
HAMMER: My co-host tonight, Nischelle Turner...
RALPH: It`s a sad thing.
HAMMER: ... has been following Justin and his notorious bad-boy crew all year. Nischelle, it seems like Justin thinks he`s invincible. I think he should be paying very close attention here.
TURNER: Well, you know, that`s a good point, A.J., because I was going to say I`m not sure if Justin thinks he needs a wake-up call or if he thinks there`s anything wrong. So that may be what`s at issue here. He doesn`t think that there`s anything wrong with the things he`s doing. I think he kind of feels like, "Hey, I`m a kid. I`m growing up. I`m just kind of having fun with my crew."
But the -- but the interesting thing here, A.J., is that Leif actually even had a stronger warning for Justin about how dangerous it is to be young and have a crew and have so much fame. He said, "When you`ve got that sort of power at that young age and everything at your doorstep you put out that bad-boy image. At that age testosterone, hormones, all of that money, you see what else you can get away with."
And A.J., I think that is so true there. It`s like you test the lines, and you see just how far you can go. I`m not sure Justin thinks he`s at that end point.
HAMMER: Yes. Leif -- Leif definitely knows of what he speaks. He has been there.

And my guest co-host Nischelle Turner, who`s back with me now, just got the naked truth about this very bold on-stage confession that I found so unusual.
TURNER: Yeah. The naked truth. That`s for sure. My jaw`s still on the floor, A.J., after hearing about the Alexis Lambright telethon combating adult virginity. Hilarious. That is what she calls this honest new show. I just spoke with her and here`s what I wanted to know. In a world of sexy selfies and tantalizing tweets why in the world did she want to do a comedy about being a 27-year-old virgin? ALEXIS LAMBRIGHT: When I realized how awkward my love wise had been for so long I thought, OK, maybe there`s some comedy in this and I will tell my roommate and my friends, like, the stories. And they thought it was funny too. So, like all right, let`s turn this crap into gold.
TURNER: You know, but did people believe you? I mean you got to be 21, 22, 23, and so on, into your 20s. When you told them you are a virgin, what did they say?
LAMBRIGHT: A lot of times people were in disbelief. Which is rightfully so. But then there were people who -- like especially when I was going on dates, if they found out I was a virgin it would be one end where they would be like, OK, well, I want to be your first, or there would be the people who would just kind of disappear.
TURNER: Yeah. Well, their loss, let me say that, first of all.
LAMBRIGHT: Right. Right.
TURNER: OK, so I`m going to be a little nosy here. Just bear with me and tell me because you kind of put it all out there. Are you still a virgin?
LAMBRIGHT: I am not.
TURNER: Oh!
LAMBRIGHT: As of recently.
TURNER: Wow. I expected you to say yes. OK. So you have no regrets about losing your virginity. Am I correct?
LAMBRIGHT: Yeah, no regrets. I was at the point when I had written the show, I was kind of like I need to get rid of this thing, this virginity thing. And I even called it chronic virginity, because at that point I felt like it was pretty severe and I needed to get laid.
(LAUGHTER)
TURNER: Well, there you go. You said it. So I`m going to go there. Was it OK? Was it everything you thought it would be? Or are you now like oh, God, why did I do this?
LAMBRIGHT: My first time was -- I expected it to be pretty bad, and like everyone I spoke with was like oh, yeah, your first time`s going to be horrible. So it definitely was. It was pretty bad.
TURNER: Oh. That`s - it`s fine. I mean, that`s what everybody said it was going to be. So.

TURNER: Alexis, you know, I`m getting a little sweaty here having this conversation with you because I`m embarrassed and you`re so OK about it. I love that you`re so comfortable in your skin. Has this show like putting in everything out there on stage, has it actually helped your dating life any?
LAMBRIGHT: It hasn`t really helped. But it`s helped me to become more confident and just like accept who I am. I think for a while, especially in my like early to mid 20s I was a little ashamed to be a virgin and to like -- it would take me a while to even tell people that I was a virgin. And now that I have this show, on the first date I say, OK, this is what it is. Because I have a solo show and I have to tell you what it`s about. So then ultimately it leads into talking about my sex life. And it`s fine. I`m totally fine with it.
TURNER: OK. So before you, you know, gave your on-stage confession the most famous fictional virgin would be Steve Carell, right?
LAMBRIGHT: Yeah.
TURNER: His character in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin." So let`s look at this real quick.
STEVE CARELL, ACTOR: You pulled that on two - why didn`t you pull it on three - como se llama? Kelly Clarkson! Ah! Aaa!
TURNER: I forgot about the como se llamas!
(LAUGHTER)
LAMBRIGHT: That was me, that was literally me at the waxing salon getting a Brazilian. That`s me screaming.
TURNER: Oh, my god.
(LAUGHTER)
TURNER: Well, that is one of the best movie scenes of all time. So, I`ve got to ask you this. What if Hollywood came calling and said OK, we want to dot the women`s side of this, Steve Carell as the 40-year-old virgin, we want to give you the 27-year-old virgin movie.
LAMBRIGHT: Let`s do it.
TURNER: OK, real quick before I let you go, Alexis. Now, you put it out there, you said you`re no longer a virgin as of recently. Are you still with the guy or no?
LAMBRIGHT: I`m not still with the guy. And it`s fine.

HAMMER: Well, let`s move on, shall we? Our number two spot is next on our confessions countdown, and it is a stunner. David Arquette just confessing he`s back to boozing. So David called in to Howard Stern`s Sirius XM radio show to confess that he`s off the wagon again. This is after more than two years of sobriety after going through rehab. And he reveals that he`s drinking a lot.

HOWARD STERN: Are you able to like have one or two drinks or are you back to like drinking like a whole bottle of stuff?
DAVID ARQUETTE: No, I mean, I`m a drinker. So yes, I drink a lot.
STERN: Yeah.

ARQUETTE: You know, I`ve been sober for two years and four months, and feeling like I wasn`t being that true to myself.
STERN: Right.
ARQUETTE: Like what I enjoy and this and that.

HAMMER: Well, I`ve got to tell you, I`m totally surprised by this. I like David a whole lot. He`s such a good guy. I hope things are OK in his life. And I certainly can`t wait to hear what entertainment and radio host Michael Billy has to say about this. Michael, you`ve always been very candid about having been there yourself and dealing with your own sobriety. I hear this and I`m thinking maybe this is a cry for help, the fact that he called in to Howard`s radio show and put this out there.
MICHAEL BILLY, RADIO HOST: It sounds like a cry for help. I mean look at my story. I mean, in and out of rehab about five times throughout my entire life. You know, I had gone through months, six months, even up to a time where I was sober and it`s true. You know, you do feel in the beginning stages, even after two years, I`ll tell you, even maybe even up to three or four years for myself, you do feel like you`re betraying yourself because that part of you, that drunk side of you, has existed for so long and this new side of you hasn`t existed for that long. And in this process you definitely want to get rid of your friends and get rid of the scene that you were involved with that contributed to your drinking, that lifestyle. I love David. I highly doubt that he abandoned that lifestyle. And I think that`s probably why he`s so reminiscent about these drunk days and who he used to be.
HAMMER: Yeah, if you`ve copped to an addiction, I mean from everything I`ve known and certainly watching a lot of it right here on HLN with Dr. Drew and speaking with you, you just can`t drink. Nischelle, you`ve covered David along my side for years now. I know you`ve gotten to deal with him in the past. We all love him. I mean he`s a great guy. I appreciate his candor. I love that he at least is being honest. But what do you think about this?
TURNER: Well, I`m not surprised, but I am concerned. And I`ll tell you what, A.J. The first thing I thought of when I heard him talk about this was Lindsay Lohan, listen up, because it`s just proof positive that this is a continuous battle, this battle with addiction, and I feel really bad for him and I really hope that he can get it together and learn that you can`t even have a drop when you`re fighting this in recovery. So it`s really interesting. And I`m not really sure what road he`s going down, but I hope that maybe he can listen back to this and hear, gosh, what was I doing?
HAMMER: Yeah. And I`m certain that we`ll be hearing much more about it in the days to come. This I think caught everybody by surprise. We wish you the best, David. ART POWELL: Hi. I`m Art Powell. I`m a former gang member.
With this culture, and this lifestyle, your life is on the line every day. Every day. This is like a form of suicide.
The name of the gang was I refuse to pass it. And I was probably the third in command. I took care of all of our enemies, confrontations. Mainly, you know, I was called when there were issues with our rivals or with people that were -- that were looking to cause disruption to what we were trying to build. I was involved in numerous aggravated assaults where I`ve shot people. Terroristic threat because I threatened people. Told them I was going to kill them and I made an attempt on their life. Kidnapping. Armed robbery. I was responsible for younger guys that were under me, you know, providing them with drugs, providing them with weapons, you know - or enemies. I wanted to spend all my time with them. I actually started spending more time with them than I did with my family.
I went to prison because I was in a shootout with the Roswell police department. Robbery went bad. And we were engaged in a shootout with them. So I was convicted of armed robbery, aggravated assault on a police officer, and kidnapping.
It was - you know, seeing people get stabbed and hearing people get raped and all the things that was going on every day, it was real uncomfortable. And it was, you know, and in dealing with, you know, correctional officers that didn`t like me or they treated me like I was nothing, like I was a slave. I had basically made my mind up when I knew I was going to do a lot of time that I wasn`t going to come out the same guy that I was when I went in.
I wouldn`t be the man I am today if I hadn`t went through what I went through. I wouldn`t be able to be a person to help young people the way I`ve been helping them today if I hadn`t went through what I went through in my life. The same hustle and grind they applied to, you know, being a criminal in the streets, they can apply that to being entrepreneurs and basically becoming successful. I can help them address those issues and give them tools to deal with those issues and encourage them and be a model to show them that they can come out of that situation because I did.

Well, Linda Lovelace is certainly a name that a lot of people may have forgotten over the years, but now the new movie "Lovelace" is shining a spotlight very brightly on the woman who was once the most famous porn star in the entire world. Want to bring back Nischelle Turner. Nischelle, this is a movie that is generating a whole lot of buzz.
TURNER: Oh, yeah. Lots of folks talking about it, A.J. Amanda Seyfried portrays the star who became famous by helping to transform porn into the billion-dollar industry it is today. But Linda`s offscreen life, anything but charmed.

LINDA LOVELACE: Who are you, and what do you want?
TURNER: The year was 1972. A pornographic film came out that would cause a sensation. The movie was "Deep Throat." starring Linda Lovelace, a newcomer noted for a particular sexual skill.
LOVELACE: I`m not turned off to sex.
TURNER: Darwin Porter, author of the new book "Inside Linda Lovelace`s Deep Throat" recalls what made the film so unusual for its time.
DARWIN PORTER: It had a plot. I mean, not a great plot, but a plot. And it had certain comedy overtones to it, too.
TURNER: Attempts to ban the film only made it more of a must-see. And "Deep Throat" went on to earn a reported $600 million. It even inspired the name Bob Woodward gave his secret source during the Watergate investigation.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: How much can you tell me about Deep Throat?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Action!
TURNER: Now more than 40 years after "Deep Throat" came out a new movie tells the story of the film`s star. And it`s not a happy one.
AMANDA SEYFRIED: To me, it`s a movie. Like any other movie.
TURNER: Amanda Seyfried plays the lead role in "Lovelace."
SEYFRIED: I did a lot of research, and it`s eye-opening, the stuff that she went through. Nobody wanted to believe that she was a victim because she was a porn star.
TURNER: The film presents Lovelace as a passive young woman, coerced into doing porn by her then husband Chuck Traynor.
LARRY FLYNT: She was just being used, I think, every step of the way.
TURNER: Larry Flynt describes the circumstances around the making of "Deep Throat" as pathetic. The legendary "Hustler" publisher wasn`t involved in the production, but he says he knew Linda and her husband.
FLYNT: That type of coercion actually took place. She was very much being -- being controlled by Chuck. It wasn`t something that she`d wake up every morning and say I can`t wait till I get to work again. That wasn`t the situation.
TURNER: Traynor died in 2002, just months after Linda suffered fatal injuries in a car crash. In a 1986 interview with CNN, she was asked if she`d done porn of her own free will.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Nobody held a gun to your head. Or did they?
LOVELACE: Well, that`s just it. Someone did hold a gun to my head. I was in constant fear of my life.
TURNER: Lovelace later remarried and settled down. She repudiated "Deep Throat" and became an anti-pornography advocate, earning praise from feminists. But her position on porn changed in the last part of her life, says author Darwin Porter.
PORTER: She started attending porno conventions and started selling "Deep Throat" memorabilia. So it was almost a turnaround.
TURNER: Flynt says Lovelace`s landmark film came along at a key moment, when porn flicks were going from dirty little secret to something more mainstream.
FLYNT: You`ve seen that very budding industry there. It was no longer something that was in the seedy back room of some adult bookstore. She did launch a billion-dollar industry. And she is the queen of it all. A very unlikely queen, but history sometimes selects very unusual people to put on thrones.
