A.J. HAMMER, CO-HOST: Right now on the "Top Ten Countdown," a verdict for Alec`s stalker. A judge just delivered his verdict in the case against a woman accused of stalking Alec Baldwin. The dramatic decision in court today.
Plus, this other bombshell delivery.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MARIAH CAREY, POP SINGER: It was like hell. It was like going to work every day in hell with Satan.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Mariah Carey made a reported $18 million for being an "Idol" judge, so was her time there seriously that bad?
And the secrets behind this amazing viral transformation. It`s so good. I`m one-on-one with the director who helped that homeless vet get his life back on track.
SBT starts right now.
Thank you so much for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer. Pleased to have along my guest co-host, Natasha Curry, who anchors "WEEKEND EXPRESS" on HLN.
NATASHA CURRY, CO-HOST: Well, A.J., thanks for having me. We`re kicking off our "Top Ten Countdown" with the must-see, must-share stories with No. 10. A verdict in the trial of the woman accused of stalking Alec Baldwin.
The judge declaring Genevieve Sabourin guilty as charged and sentencing her to a total of 210 days in jail. That includes the 30 days that she just got yesterday for contempt of court. Now the judge also ordered her not to make my contact with Baldwin or his wife for five years.
HAMMER: Entertainment journalist Kelley Carter is joining me now from Atlanta. And here in New York, we have CNN legal analyst and defense attorney Danny Cevallos.
Danny, I want to start with you, because we certainly heard a whole lot of bizarre things in the course of this trial. We`re looking at surveillance video right now of Sabourin, showing up uninvited at Baldwin`s apartment building. We saw lots of crazy e-mails that she sent to Baldwin. So in the end this verdict really isn`t much of a surprise at all, is it?
DANNY CEVALLOS, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Not at all. Here`s why.
In cases like these, they come down to credibility determinations. Because one side is saying, "I was in fear and I did not consent to this much contact."
And the other side says, essentially, "Sure, you consented and you weren`t afraid of anything I did."
So because it comes down to a credibility determination and because there seems to be so much documentary evidence that this contact was unwanted and finally, because it was tried in front of the same judge that issued a contempt order for the defendant acting out yesterday, well, to many this was a foregone conclusion.
And I have nothing but sympathy for the defense attorney who must be slapping his hand to his head while his client is acting out in court during the trial.
HAMMER: Oh, yes. After this was all done he made it very clear that he was not happy with how it went when his client was in there: shouting things out, being completely out of order, which is why she was found in contempt.
And Kelley, seeing her and her antics during the course of the trial play out, it didn`t surprise me at all that the judge ended up throwing the book at her.
KELLEY CARTER, JOURNALIST: Yes, I don`t think so either. I think it came down to a credibility issue. Because there was so much that was disturbing about this case, and seeing kind of the in-courtroom antics and the dramatic things that happened inside of the courtroom, not a shocker here.
HAMMER: Now, despite her conviction, though, Sabourin and her lawyer are still sticking to her story that she and Baldwin did have a romance and that she did not stalk Baldwin and his wife. Her lawyer did speak outside the court after the verdict was handed down. Let`s watch.
(BEGIN VIDEO CIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: For all five charges they had to prove that she intentionally acted. And it`s my contention, and it still is, that it wasn`t her intent to harass, annoy, alarm, stalk, violate an order of protection. Her intent was clear, is that she wanted closure from this relationship.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Well, she got closure one way or the other. It was actually the closure of barred doors in a jail cell.
Alec denies ever having had any kind of romance with Sabourin. But Danny, really, at the end of the day, it doesn`t matter if these two were romantically involved, as she still claims and the lawyer still claims that they were.
CEVALLOS: It doesn`t matter at all.
The other thing that the lawyer just said of the defendant was all she wanted was closure. I need to make this as crystal clear for everybody out there as I can. You, as a defendant, are not entitled to closure. You`re not entitled to an explanation if somebody breaks up with you. And that`s what was misguided about the defendant in this case. She all but admitted that she did what she did because she felt she was entitled to an explanation why Baldwin had given her the cold shoulder. And legally, you are not entitled to any explanation. Legally, that`s harassment. That`s stalking.
And also, I disagree with the attorney that these are intentional acts. Stalking, I believe, in New York requires only a recklessness. That you know that what you were doing was substantially likely to cause the terror that it did in Mr. Baldwin.
HAMMER: Well, I know there`s a collective sigh of relief for the Baldwin family right now, because in addition to the fact that this woman is now in jail, there`s also a five-year order of protection where she has to stay the heck away from them. Let`s hope she upholds her end of that deal.
Kelley, Danny, thank you both so much.
No. 9 in our must-see, must-share countdown, Miley Cyrus and sexism in the music industry all getting slammed in a brand-new video from Lilley Allen.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
(MUSIC)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: I like Lily Allen. That`s her new video for her song, "Hard Out Here for XXX." And she`s mocking Miley`s half-naked twerking, obviously. Lily also taking plenty of jabs at the entire music industry for promoting sexism and objectifying women.
Does Lily have a point? Well, let me ask Meghan McCain. She is the host of the show "Raising McCain," which can be seen Saturdays on the Pivot Network.
Nice to see you, Meghan.
MEGHAN MCCAIN, HOST, PIVOT NETWORK`S "RAISING MCCAIN": Hi. Thank you so much for having me.
HAMMER: It is absolutely my pleasure, and I want to watch more of this video with you, because Lily really goes there in this music video. Roll it out, Charles.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
LILY ALLEN, SINGER (singing): I suppose I should tell you what this bitch is thinking. You`ll find me in the studio and not in the kitchen. I won`t be bragging about my car or talking about my chains. No need to shake my ass for you, because I`ve got a brain.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yes, Meghan, you`ve heard her there. She`s singing "I`ve got a brain. I don`t need to do all this stuff for you."
And listen, as I`m watching this, I`m being very mindful of the fact that Lily is also a comedian. But is she really dead on here or do you think she`s overdoing it a bit?
M. MCCAIN: You know, I saw this video for the first time last night. I actually really love it, especially at the beginning where she`s getting liposuction. And there`s a parody at the end in balloons where she`s sort of making fun of the Robin Thicke video. And I really like it. I think it`s great social commentary.
But I know there`s a lot of debate on the Internet that has to do with sort of race relations in this video. And I don`t think that`s for me to comment about. I don`t know enough about hip-hop culture to make that kind of commentary.
But I don`t know. I think any woman just pointing out how difficult it is to be a woman in the media in general or just in the world -- that`s the basis of her song -- I`m all for it. And it`s really catchy.
HAMMER: Yes. Well, that`s what Lily Allen does. She does catchy, fun songs. And I think she`s having a good time and certainly sending a message here, in this video full of half-naked women twerking. Just like we`ve seen Miley Cyrus doing lately.
By the way, on the very same day that the video came out, she did tweet this. She wrote, "Which member of the Cyrus family is currently courting controversy over her twerking antics?" Seems pretty clear, Meghan, that Lily is going after Miley. Is that fair?
M. MCCAIN: Yes. I think it`s pretty obvious from that tweet she probably is. Yes.
HAMMER: All right. I want to talk about some of the great stuff that we`ve been seeing you do on your show, "Raising McCain" on the Pivot Network.
Now I know the season finale is this Saturday. You do some terrifically compelling interviews. And I love the one with your dad, Senator John McCain. Shall we watch?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
M. MCCAIN: Dad, I love you so much. I love Mom so much. I am the luckiest girl in the world. I have such amazing parents.
SEN. JOHN MCCAIN (R), ARIZONA: I`m proud of you and Jack and Jimmy and Bridget. And, you know, each in your own way has been remarkably successful and have turned out far better than your mom and I could have -- could have hoped. And that doesn`t mean that all of you are not a giant pain in the ass from time to time.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: OK.
M. MCCAIN: That`s my favorite thing he`s ever said on television.
HAMMER: Yes.
M. MCCAIN: I love it.
HAMMER: And I would like a little clarification right there. In what way are you possibly a giant pain in the -- I`ll say butt?
M. MCCAIN: You know, I mean, I -- people don`t really -- that comment was sort of taken out of context. People found that offensive. And I think you have to know the sense of humor. My entire family has a very, like dark, dry sense of humor.
And you know, I`m a pain in the butt sometimes, and he certainly is from time to time. And I just thought, you know, I don`t like anything to really air too cheesy or too sort of maudlin. And I just like that it ended sort of with, like, a little bit of a dirty joke.
HAMMER: To be clear, I`m not looking to take anything out of context. I genuinely want to know how you are possibly a pain in the butt to your father. I really want to know. What are some things you do?
M. MCCAIN: Because -- when I disagree with him. And, you know, I`ll call him out when I don`t think -- when I disagree with him on different political issues.
And, you know, I think all fathers and daughters think they`re pains in the butts from time to time.
But I don`t know. That was a really fun interview to do. We went to the home in Sedona. And I don`t think anybody had really seen my dad in that context, when he`s wearing, like, an old dirty T-shirt and a baseball cap. But...
HAMMER: I love that.
M. MCCAIN: I know.
HAMMER: I actually loved seeing him in that character.
Of course, now you have to reveal to me, because you just said he could be a pain in the butt sometimes, too. How does that take shape? Give me one example.
M. MCCAIN: When he`s a pain in the butt? Sometimes he`ll bring -- I was actually just talking about this earlier. Sometimes when I go home, he`ll bring politics and current events home and only want to talk about that. And like we need, you know, off time is off time. And sometimes I just want to, you know, talk about normal stuff. But he really internalizes things that are going on in the country. So that`s sometimes when he`s a pain in the butt.
But as a general, you know, rule he`s an amazing father and we have a great relationship. And I can laugh about him calling me a pain in the butt on national television right now.
HAMMER: Well, it`s been fun seeing you together with him, sort of out of the context in which we normally see the two of you.
So we have that. We have Lily Allen slamming Miley. And now we have another report today of a celebrity who`s possibly, maybe slamming yet another celebrity. I want to know what the heck is going on with all this star-on-star anger that seems to be out there.
So Meghan, please stay right there. We`re going to continue with tonight`s countdown in just a moment. And as we just get started with our countdown, will this bombshell "Idol" revelation from former superstar judge Mariah Carey take the No. 1 spot?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
CAREY: It was like hell. Like going to work every day in hell with Satan.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Mariah, we know you`re the queen of hits, but some people are just wondering if you`re being too much of a drama queen right now. You made a reported 18 million bucks for one season of "Idol." How bad could it have been?
Plus, this amazing transformation of a homeless vet took over the Internet and inspired the world. I`ve got the man who directed that viral video, Rob Bliss, right here on SBT. Are the reports true that the vet he helped is already back on the streets?
Will one of these amazing bombshells be No. 1? This is SBT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Welcome back to SBT. I`m A.J. Hammer along with my guest co- host, Natasha Curry from HLN`s "WEEKEND EXPRESS."
CURRY: Hey, A.J. Well, we`re down now to No. 8 on our "Top Ten Countdown": Joan slamming J. Law.
HAMMER: Yes, Joan has responded to something Jennifer Lawrence said about Joan Rivers` show, "Fashion Police." She said, "There`s shows like the `Fashion Police.` They put values in all the things that are wrong and that it`s OK to just point at people and call them ugly and call them fat and `welcome to the real world.` That shouldn`t be the real world."
Not surprisingly that didn`t sit too well with Joan Rivers. Here`s what she just tweeted in response: "It`s funny how Jennifer Lawrence loved `Fashion Police` during awards season, when we were complimenting her every single week. But now that she has a movie to promote, suddenly, we`re picking on all those poor, helpless actors. WAIT! It just dawned on me why Jennifer Lawrence fell on her way up to the stage to get her Oscar. She tripped over her own arrogance."
Oh, Joan. Joan.
CURRY: I know.
HAMMER: I think a lot of people are going to side with Jennifer Lawrence here.
CURRY: Yes, definitely. Joan does say some funny stuff, but it can get pretty harsh at times. That`s for sure.
Well, another feud of sorts takes us to No. 7 on our countdown. Actor Mark Wahlberg says quit your whining. Wahlberg plays a Navy SEAL in the new movie, "Lone Survivor." It`s based on a true story about a mission in Afghanistan that left three Navy SEALs dead.
Well, now he`s ticked off at actors who suggest that making a movie that puts them through some tough training is such a big deal, saying, "For actors who sit there and talk about, `Oh, I went to SEAL training," I don`t give a bleep what you did. You don`t know what these guys did. For someone to sit there and say, `My job was as difficult as being in the military,` how bleeping dare you, while you sit in a makeup chair for two hours?"
So Meghan McCain`s back with us. Meghan, I know this Saturday, this is the season finale of your show, "Raising McCain" on Pivot TV. And of course, your dad`s John McCain, obviously, a real-life war hero. So how do you feel about Mark Wahlberg`s comment there?
M. MCCAIN: Oh, I love that. I mean, I have two brothers in the military. One who was deployed overseas. And I just think he -- Mark Wahlberg is so spot on. Any time I hear an actor say that they did military training or compare themselves to what the men and women sacrifice in the military, it`s just -- I mean, it`s just beyond stupid and insensitive. It`s so unbelievably disconnected from reality.
So I love Mark Wahlberg. I`ve always been a fan of his, and it`s comment like this that makes him seem like he`s -- the guy`s just really connected with reality.
CURRY: Yes. That`s refreshing to hear. And Wahlberg`s comments, they came, of course, after Tom Cruise had to clear up those reports that were wrong, suggesting that he was comparing making a movie to being as hard as being in combat.
But here`s what else Mark said. I want to read it to you: "I don`t give a bleep if you get your heiney busted," we`ll say. " You get to go home at the end of the day. You get to go to your hotel room. You get to order your bleeping chicken. I`m a very lucky guy to do what I do. And I`m proud to have been part of it, but it`s just so much bigger than what I do."
I think that really puts it in perspective, Meghan. In my suspicion - - I don`t know what you think, but I think that Mark Wahlberg is just truly just super patriotic. And he loves our troops just like we do.
MCCAIN: Yes. And this movie that`s coming out, I`m a huge fan of the book and Marcus Luttrell. And I just hope it lives up to my expectations. I just think it`s awesome someone who`s representing an American hero like that is obviously representing the beliefs of the rest of us that support and love the men and women of the military so much.
CURRY: Yes. And by the way, Mark also made it clear, too, that he doesn`t have any beef with Tom Cruise. He told TMZ, "I love Tom Cruise. I have much respect for Tom Cruise. But I have just as much respect for military guys. So it`s just unfair to anybody to comment on that."
So Meghan, some people are saying that Wahlberg needs to get off his soap box, but I mean, sounds to me like maybe he`s just trying to clear it all up.
MCCAIN: Stay on the soap box, Mark Wahlberg. I like what you`re saying. I don`t know. I think, you know, a lot of people -- I know sometimes when I hear actors complain you just have to think about people - - I always say I get to go on TV and have my own show because men and women are fighting for freedom. That I get to, you know, be glamorous in this TV studio now because there are men and women fighting for my freedom. And I think, obviously, Mark Wahlberg agrees with that. So give him more time. I loved this message. I love it.
CURRY: I -- I`m with you. Meghan McCain, thanks so much.
A.J., the troops do a ton. And I love what Meghan just said, too.
HAMMER: No question about it. I`m right there with all of you guys.
All right. As we`re moving on, if you`ve wanted to be a movie star yourself, well, you`re not going to want to move. We are bringing you the woman who helped some of Hollywood`s biggest celebs break into the business.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: There are millions of people that think they`re so talented and think they have a shot. And somebody has got to tell them the truth.
(END VIDEO CLIP) HAMMER: That is the drama queen (UNINTELLIGIBLE) Kinsella (ph). She is right here on SBT with the secrets of how to become Hollywood royalty.
But is she going to bring more drama to our countdown than the stunning new character pictures from "Fifty Shades of Grey." Have you seen this yet? It took forever to cast this movie. So were Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson the right choice? Wait till you see these pics. You`ll get to decide.
What`s going to be No. 1?
This is SBT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: And our "Top Ten Countdown" continues with No. 6. We`ve been waiting, like -- I don`t know -- 60 years for this thing. It is your first look at Angelina Jolie as Disney`s most evil villain ever. She`s got horns. She`s got thorns. They call her Maleficent, who of course, is the sorceress from "Sleeping Beauty."
CURRY: Yes. Amazing. She never got to even tell her side of the story, of course, in the 1950s Disney classic. But now Angelina Jolie is bringing her to life in the brand-new movie, "Maleficent," and she`s one bad customer. Watch this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I know who you are. You`ve been watching over me my whole life. I know you were there. In the shadow that`s been following me ever since I was small. Don`t be afraid.
ANGELINA JOLIE, ACTRESS: I`m not afraid.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Then come out.
JOLIE: Then you`ll be afraid.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: All right. Natasha, you`re watching. When you saw how scary Angelina looks in that role. That is why they had to cast her daughter, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, as Aurora, because all the little girls on set would be so scared of her, and her daughter wasn`t scared of her.
CURRY: You know, she looks really creepy. I`m kind of scared to watch it. But I`m such a huge Angelina fan. You`ve got to watch and see this whole take on it. I`m excited.
HAMMER: I think it`s going to be huge. And of course, as you saw, it is coming out in the spring.
Well, as we move on, I`ve got two stunning bombshells you definitely don`t want to miss on our countdown today. Can you believe super diva Mariah Carey just made this confession about her time as a judge on "American Idol"?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
CAREY: It was like hell. Like going to work every day in hell with Satan.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: All right. Mariah, we know you had a huge feud with Nicki Minaj. But you also took home a reported 18 million bucks for being on that panel. Was it really that bad?
There`s another shocking reality-show revelation that`s going to blow you away. This one about "Biggest Loser" trainer Jillian Michaels. If it`s true, it ain`t pretty.
Will one of these stunning reality revelations be No. 1? This is SBT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
CAREY: It was like hell. Like going to work every day in hell with Satan.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Right now the "Top Ten Countdown." Mariah`s bombshell "Idol" confession. Can you believe the superstar just said that about being an "Idol" judge?
Mariah, you did make a reported 18 million bucks for being on the show. You know? Could it really have been that bad?
Plus, my one-on-one with the man who helped this homeless vet start a new life. That vet`s transformation is inspiring people all over the world. And now I`m one-on-one with Rob Bliss. The guy who directed this amazing viral video. He`s revealing the secrets behind that incredible transformation and what that vet`s life is like right now. "SBT" continues right now.
Welcome back. Thanks for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer along with Natasha Curry, the host of "Weekend Express" here on HLN.
CURRY: What`s up, A.J. Right now at number five on our countdown today top ten, must see, must share stories. Mariah Carey`s $18 million "American Idol" hell? It turns out Mariah`s huge "Idol`s" paycheck might not have been quite enough to keep her happy on the job. And boy, is she talking about it, A.J.
HAMMER: Yes, and she just opened up about her one season "Idol" judging stint on Hot 97 Radio`s "Angie Martinez Show." You have got to just listen to what she said.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: What happened with "American Idol?" That`s over, right? No more going back?
MARIAH CAREY: That`s over.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Did you like it?
CAREY: No. Honestly, I hated it. It was like hell. Going to work every day in hell with Satan.
(LAUGHTER)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Really?
CAREY: No, I`m just playing. It didn`t affect me that much. I was just like - I was disappointed.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Honestly, I hated it. No, I`m just playing. We know many a truth is said in gist. It`s hard to imagine being too disappointed with getting paid a reported $18 million. Entertainment journalist Kelley Carter is with me now from Atlanta. Kelley, I like Mariah. We go way back. I appreciate that she was being very honest about hating her time on "American Idol." But here is what a lot of people are saying. You know, let`s be honest. She had to critique contestants and sit on her panel with three judges and with paid a bundle of cash to do that. It`s hard to understand how that is somehow working in hell.
KELLEY CARTER, ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALIST: You know, and I understand that, too. I think that she thought it was going to be a different set up altogether. You know, as kind of went on and say on that interview, she was, you know, the first judge that was hired. And I think she maybe thought that there were going to be, you know, equally yoked judges on the panel with her. And I think that was probably the first misstep or the first set back or the first surprise for Mariah Carey. And I think the rest just kind of went downhill from there.
HAMMER: Yeah, I think that was pretty clear. Let me bring in my friend entertainment journalist, Hyla, who is with us from Hollywood tonight. So, again, Hyla, I appreciate the fact that look, she answered the question honestly. Her kneejerk reaction was oh God, I hated it. But there are a lot of people who are saying, you know what, Mariah, maybe you shouldn`t be so honest all the time, if you`re making all that money. What do you think she should have said?
HYLA, ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALIST: I appreciate her honesty. I want to hear stars and celebrity be more honest. Because we don`t get a chance to hear that quite often. And there was something else in that interview. Obviously, we know she hated her time working with Nicki Minaj. That`s not a surprise. Maybe it`s a surprise that she said it out loud, but we know that`s how she felt. For me, it`s more of a surprise that she said that there was good talent that they wouldn`t put through on the show because of politics. Which is confusing to me, though, why wouldn`t they put the best talents through? It`s just another reason why I think "American Idol" has fallen off the map, where it`s more about the judges than it is about the singing talent.
HAMMER: Yeah. No, I think she was pretty candid all the way through this thing and very candid about that time in hell serving with Nicki Minaj as you mentioned, Hyla. It never really did go so well. In fact, I think we should revisit some of it right now.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
CAREY: I cannot wait until we get to do 2000 and 1400 - oh -oh, no, so you must think that I agree with the kid.
(CROSSTALK)
NICKI MINAJ: You agree with the kid.
CAREY: Entire panel in sync, again, back to the billboard hot, 100 number one song, which you just performed, which is difficult to get. Not everybody had that. To their credit, you could - you did a great job.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Well, there she is - Kelley working with Satan right there. She says, in hell. Listen, a lot of people have to work every day side by side with people they don`t like.
NICKI MINAJ: They do. And they don`t, you know, grab as big of a paycheck as Miss Carey did for this job. But I agree with Hyla. I think that as an entertainment journalist she kind of lived for these nuggets and these moments that happened at interviews and you very rarely get that level of honesty from someone, and certainly from someone at a Mariah Carey caliber. So, I kind of liked it.
HAMMER: Hey. Nothing like cashing it on hell. Kelley, Hyla, thanks so much, guys.
(LAUGHTER)
CURRY: A.J., and good saying. I wish someone would beat for 18 million ...
(LAUGHTER)
CURRY: We`re now at number four. I`m joking. And number in the top ten countdown, get ready for the drama queen. So, you know that little expression, it takes one to know one. Well, only a true drama queen knows what it`s like to be over the top. And get what she wants. Marki Costello is coaching people all the way to the top and makes it her business to get clients into show business and take them to the top. She`s now starring at her own series on E! called "The Drama Queen." So, just how did she help people to turn their 15 minutes of fame into lasting - we`re about to find out her big secrets. Marki! Great to see you. As long time no talk.
MARKI COSTELLO, CELEBRITY COACH: Hey, I`m so glad to be on "SHOWBIZ TONIGHT." I like seeing Hyla, I know Hyla. Hyla! Hi, Hyla!
CURRY: Yeah! The best name ever! I thought you remember me, and you are my first TV hosting coach in Hollywood. Way back in the `90s, but I could hardly pay for parking for these classes back then. But you were a ...
COSTELLO: And look at how far you`ve come!
CURRY: You were so sweet. And look at you, with your new show. We`re so excited about it.
COSTELLO: Well, you know, what I feel like because television has changed so much, the show business has changed so much. Because the Internet has become literally this sort of like - I don`t want to say the gung show, but it`s become this huge place where we can pull talent. And Wanda from Wichita can be doing webisodes. And Wanda from Wichita thinks well, you know what, I can be the next Mariah Carey.
CURRY: Right.
COSTELLO: And you know what? Maybe she can and maybe she can`t. But I feel like somebody sort of has to be the gatekeeper. And somebody has to sort of - it`s a fine line. But somebody has to - look at a fame as a bitch. And so am I.
(LAUGHTER)
COSTELLO: And this business is a sickle bitch, and we know that. One day this business loves you and the next day this business hates you. And the reality is, with so much reality, including myself it`s come to the point where we need to bring back talent. And we also need to let everybody know if you want to build a viable marketable brand you can because you do have the Internet, but use it wisely and properly.
CURRY: And you do have a great point there. And you know what, you never hold back either with your clients who are chasing that Hollywood dream that you`re talking about. It`s like watch this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
COSTELLO: Well, we might have to redo your boobs. And we might have to talk about your ass. Let`s just say if someone said you`re too fat for Hollywood, what would you say? You`re too fat (EXPLETIVE DELETED).
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I just feel like especially in this town people are body bullies. And I`m not (EXPLETIVE DELETED) taking it.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: But Marki, you and I had a ton of body image talks. I mean it`s so true people - they beat you down and you get those kinds of talks that then you want to starve yourself sometimes, but I mean that`s really the reality of Hollywood. But you build people back up too.
COSTELLO: Well, here`s the thing: I say look, I don`t make the rules but we have to play by them if you want to succeed. But the greatest thing about that whole conversation that I have with tomorrow Jay Bard (ph), the woman in that clip, is that I said to her, let`s make your brand body bully and let`s start body bullying awareness and let`s have you be the face of body bullying in the sense where - why can`t she be recognized for her talent instead of her ass.
CURRY: Yes.
COSTELLO: So, you can even use that as a launching off place. And I think the misnomer is that people think well, I`m pretty. I could be on that show or, you know, I can sing. And they don`t realize that it takes a lot more ...
CURRY: So much more than that, right?
COSTELLO: Yeah, that goes into it.
CURRY: Well, Marki, it was great to talk to you. You haven`t changed a bit. We`re so excited with your show.
COSTELLO: Well, I`m proud of you. Watch the "Drama Queen" this Sunday on E! at 11:00.
CURRY: Thank you. We definitely will. A.J.
COSTELLO: Thanks guys, bye.
HAMMER: She obviously done good bye to you there, Natasha. And we`re closing in on our top must see, must share story of the day. Will it be my revealing one-on-one with the man behind this wildly popular and very inspiring viral video?
(VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Well, Rob Bliss is the guy who helped transform that homeless vet and send him on the right path. He`s right here to tell us how he did it. And how the vet`s doing right now. And we`re revealing a completely different, but also totally stunning image. I`ve got the first character pics from "Fifty Shades of Grey." I can`t wait to show them to you. You know the movie has been a casting nightmare. Did they finally get just the right actors to play Christian and Anastasia? What`s going to be number one? This is "SBT" on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: I could watch this over and over. Right now we have the amazing story behind the transformation of this homeless vet that went viral. It`s been seen over 12 million times. We`re now up to number three on out top ten countdown. Homeless vet Jim Wolf underwent a complete transformation. It`s all caught on tape, and as you`re seeing in this video. We`re talking about a stylist cutting his hair, trimming his beard. New clothes. He changed his appearance entirely. Well, this is the guy who made this happen, Rob Bliss, director of the viral video. And he joins me now from Chicago. First of all, Rob, thank you for doing this video. It made a lot of people, not just this vet, feel really great. Being able to watch it. I appreciate you being here and the fact that you put this thing together.
ROB BLISS, PRODUCER, HOMELESS VET TRANSFORMATION VIDEO: Well, thanks for having me.
HAMMER: Absolutely. And you set out to do it to benefit a chartable ministry that you worked with. Were you shocked at Jim`s transformation, which really was pretty radical?
BLISS: Oh, yeah. I mean it was incredible. I mean the whole crew that was there that day, we were all - just had the biggest smile on our face. It was like, I don`t know, it`s just - the air warmed up. We all felt so - I don`t know, heartwarming, really from this entire experience. And it was very special to be a part of.
HAMMER: Yeah, it really lifts everybody who gets to see it. In fact, let`s roll it out right now Jim undergoing his dramatic changes. Charles.
(VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: All right, first of all, who was he hugging there? Was that you?
BLISS: It actually was. Yes. I kind of put the piece together. I spent days with him leading up to this project and helping him. I have meetings and stuff with people associated with this video. So, I was just so proud of him. And he just came and gave me the biggest hug and it was awesome.
HAMMER: I have to imagine he was completely overcome with emotion at that moment.
BLISS: No doubt. I mean it was an emotional moment for all of us. I think some of us were a little, you know, teary-eyed a bit with the whole project. And it was just - it was something really special. We knew something was going on here.
HAMMER: When we saw himself in the mirror at that moment that we see it, in the time-lapse video, was that actually the first time he was seeing himself after the transformation?
BLISS: Correct. And you can see him mouth the words "Wow."
HAMMER: Yes.
BLISS: When he sees himself in the mirror, and then he was just coming toward me and says thank you and he gave me that big hug.
HAMMER: How did you choose Jim as your subject for this?
BLISS: Well, I reached out to Degage Ministries to find someone who was taking their own baby steps forward and trying to be a better person. Someone passionate about this project and someone who was for sure a homeless veteran. And Jim was just so excited to be a part of this that we knew he was the right guy.
HAMMER: And there`ve been reports that - I`ve been seeing that he`s back on streets. Can you tell us how he is doing? Is he OK?
BLISS: He`s actually living with his family. He`s living with his sister currently and there`s lots of positive developments with him. You know, everything from over a dozen job offers. We`ve got dentists stepping up all over the place that are going to totally redo his health care with his teeth and all that. Tens of thousands of dollars right there and professional rehab facilities that are welcoming him in and will be with him for four to six weeks. That`s great.
HAMMER: Well done. Rob Bliss. Thank you so much for doing that for him and for the world. I think it really levitates all of us. And Natasha, you have to imagine after 12 million hits online there are going to be people offering him jobs and offering to help him out in other ways.
CURRY: Right. And think about it - and if every vet feels that appreciated and loved and had that much support, that`s really just be a better place. But it`s great to see.
HAMMER: Inspiring with a capital I.
All right, our drama is just about to hit a peak. We have a battle between two incredible transformations that you have got to see. The question is what will be number one? This is "SBT" on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Welcome back to SBT. Of course, we`re making our way to number one on our top ten countdown, but first we must do number two. Jillian Michaels stirring up a huge controversy at the biggest loser. Jillian`s in the pretty hot water after she gave her team caffeine supplements without permission from the team doctor. Now, this is a revelation that left all three teems speechless.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Jillian broke the rules and gave caffeine supplements to each member of her team without doctor`s permission. Because of this rules violation Jillian has been penalized and the white team will receive a four pound disadvantage.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: You`ve got to follow the rules. Jillian`s team, as you heard, received a four pound disadvantage going into next week. But the real surprise came when the teams found out that this guy, the biggest loser favorite Ruben Studdard would be returning to the show. He was eliminated last week but because of Jillian`s rule violation, Ruben`s elimination doesn`t count. Entertainment journalist Kelley Carter is back with us. So, Kelley, Jillian is saying that she stands by her decision to have used the caffeine supplements because she feels they are healthier than her contestants drinking unlimited amounts of coffee. Do you think that she shouldn`t have been penalized?
CARTER: You know, I mean I was just as shocked I think as a lot of the viewers when that was revealed on the show. If those are the rules, then those are the rules. But I certainly understand where she Jillian was coming from in that thinking that it`s healthier to do that than to ingest a bunch of coffee.
HAMMER: But here`s the problem. I think, you know, and I love Jillian, but I think people are going to have a lot of difficulty trusting her moving forward in the show.
CARTER: I think so too. And I think for a lot of the viewers out there watching it, you often wonder, you know, how these massive numbers come, you know, just after a few days or seven days of working out and eating well and then to hear that maybe there are some other little behind the scenes tricks that we didn`t know about can be a little bit startling.
HAMMER: Well, now we`re going to have to see how the season plays out. And they have a lot more eyeballs on them, I`m sure, Natasha.
CURRY: Yeah, for sure.
And that brings us to the big reveal, guys. Number one on the countdown. "Fifty Shades of Grey" revealed. We just learned the film`s release date has been pushed back to six months to Valentine`s Day in 2015. And we just got our first look at Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, starting to bring the characters to life. Look at that sexy camera. We see them together for the first time, in the photo shoot captured in the new issue of "Entertainment Weekly" here. And entertainment journalist Hyla is back with us now from Hollywood. So, Hyla, so it`s official now. We`re seeing the two of them together for the first time. But are you feeling the hot, loving chemistry already?
(LAUGHTER)
HYLA: Yeah. Of course.
(LAUGHTER)
HYLA: You know, it`s so hard the say, because we have got to see them on screen. The photos is the good little - the good little, but for two relatively unknown actors, this is such a huge platform and huge opportunity. Obviously, the cast agents felt that these two can bring something special, to this massive - but at the end of the day you have got to see them act on screen. That`s the only way we`re going to know for sure.
CURRY: Yeah, and keep looking at that tie. I`m like - I`m surprised anyway that it`s not - anyway. I won`t go there.
(LAUGHTER)
HYLA: See, that`s your problem. Is that you`re distracted by little things like that.
CURRY: I know what he`s going to do with that. So, "50 Shades", it`s already seen its share of problems. But I mean you know what, you know, Charlie Hunnam sudden drop out. That was a shock. Then the production delayed. And then now we`re looking at this new release date in 2015. Kelley, with this Valentine`s Day release date, I would venture to guess, you know, people are really going to be getting their freak on with some freak nasty Valentine inspiration. Don`t you think?
(LAUGHTER)
CARTER: Whoa, Natasha. Yeah, you know, I think that housewives everywhere are just like hanging on until Valentine`s Day 2015. Because they are so excited about this film coming out, quite frankly. And I think that it`s going to be a hot and heavy Valentine`s Day that weekend.
CURRY: Girls get your freak on. Why the heck not?
(LAUGHTER)
Jimmy Dornan, I read, is not a huge household name, but, I mean fans of ABC`s "Once Upon a Time" they were already seeing him in action, so to speak. Watch.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JAMIE DORNAN: I`m just not convinced arresting her is the right plan. And I`m not talking about your tree. We both know she didn`t steal these files.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Or do we?
DORNAN: She looked pretty shocked when I levelled the charges against her.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Because she doesn`t like being caught.
DORNAN: Or because she was set up.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: Why am I looking at his mouth? But he`s got the good looks, the charm, but Hyla, does he bring enough up to keep fans amped up?
HYLA: Well, you`re asking me. If he is ...
(LAUGHTER)
CURRY: Kelley`s smiling. OK, that`s the answer. Kelley, Hyla, guys.
HAMMER: I just like that you said freak nasty. I wonder if Christian Grey ever thinks about this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I think the women are pretty satisfied.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Are you sure that they are genuinely satisfied? They are not pretending to be satisfied?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You`re saying they`re faking?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I`m pretty sure I can tell.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: A flash mob like no other you`ve seen - you won`t believe what happens next. It`s our moment of awesomeness. This is "SBT" on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: It`s time now for our moment of awesomeness. Now, Natasha, we certainly all remember this absolutely legendary scene with Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan from the movie "When Harry Met Sally."
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes, yes, yes. Oh, oh. Oh, god. Oh.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I`ll have what she`s having.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
(LAUGHTER)
CURRY: Oh, boy. Yeah, that`s a classic scene, A.J. And now a group of women have just recreated that famous scene times a hundred at the iconic cafe deli in New York. I know it was - I`ll have what she`s having flash mob. Sounds crazy. Look.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Oh, yes, yes, yes.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Oh, yes.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Oh, yeah.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yeah. Yes. Yes.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Oh.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Oh, yeah. Yeah.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I`ll have what they`re having.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CURRY: So, A.J., apparently the chocolate cake is that good.
HAMMER: Yeah, can you imagine being in the cafe and deli when that goes down? That`s pretty incredible. Well, thank you for watching. Catch "SBT" every Monday through Thursday at 6:00 P.M. Eastern and 11 P.M. Eastern and Pacific. HLN continues right now.
