JOHN QUINONES, ABC NEWS: I`m John Quinones with ABC News. Join us next time for another edition of "WHAT WOULD YOU DO?" on HLN.
A.J. HAMMER, HOST: Right now on the "Top Ten Countdown"...
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
YAWAR CHARLIE, MARRIED AT GRAMMYS: I`m Yawar.
JASON MILLER, MARRIED AT GRAMMYS: And I`m Jason.
CHARLIE: And we just got married on the Grammys.
MILLER: And we just got married on the Grammys.
QUEEN LATIFAH, SINGER/ACTRESS: As I look out into this audience, I`m delighted to see the faces of 33 couples who chose at this moment to celebrate their vows with us here in Los Angeles.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: This was amazing. The Grammys deliver a one-two punch of love and sexiness. Complete with 33 weddings. And that is just the start of today`s must-see, must-share countdown. What could possibly be No. 1? SBT starts right now.
Hello, I`m A.J. Hammer. Thank you so much for watching. We are kicking off our countdown of today`s top ten must-see, must-share stories with one of the greatest wedding ceremonies of all time. And we are about to introduce you to one of the couples who got to make it a part of their lives.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
QUEEN LATIFAH: We are gathered here to celebrate love and harmony, in every key (ph) and every color. As I look out on this audience, I`m delighted to see the faces of 33 couples who`ve chosen this moment to celebrate their vows with us here in Los Angeles.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: I mean, come on. This was the wedding to end all weddings: at the Grammys. You had 33 couples. Same-sex, opposite-sex, mixed races, all married as you see, by Queen Latifah, to a live performance of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis`s "Same Love."
Yawar Charlie and Jason Miller were a part of it. You saw them right there on the screen. They are now married. They`re with us from Hollywood.
First off, guys, I am so excited and thrilled for you. Have you processed this yet at all?
CHARLIE: No.
MILLER: Thank you so much.
CHARLIE: No, no. Not yet. We haven`t quite had the chance. But it`s sort of sinking in. It`s kind of amazing.
HAMMER: I mean, think about the cool wedding band that you had to perform, I guess, what would now be your wedding song. You had Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, and, of course, the beautiful, stunning voice of Mary Lambert all on stage together. Let`s revisit some of that right now.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MACKLEMORE, RAPPER: Here we go. America the brave still fears what we don`t know. Somehow forgotten, but we paraphrase the book written 3,500 years ago. I don`t know.
MARY LAMBERT, SINGER (singing): I can`t change, even if I tried, even if I wanted to. I can`t change.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: The ceremony happened. And I watched the face of my friend, Mary Lambert there, getting so emotional. That song, guys, has obviously meant a great deal to a great number of people since it first surfaced. What does it mean to you and getting married to it?
CHARLIE: You know, for us, "Same Love" has been kind of an anthem this past year. Because it`s just a message of equality and just, letting people know that we all deserve the right to be in love and have that moment. And that it`s OK. And so to be a part of that was just -- I mean, it was monumental for us.
HAMMER: Talk to me about the energy and exactly what was going on in your minds and around you when you were standing there face to face with thousands of people around you and some 29 people -- 29 million people watching you at home. What was that like?
MILLER: The energy in the room was unparalleled to any experience we`ve ever had. And we had been through several dress rehearsals without any audience participation. And, when we actually did the final, the final show, it was absolutely incredible.
The energy that was being put off by all of the celebrities and everyone in the audience, everyone was so emotional. They were there for us. They had tears in their eyes. They were reaching out and saying, "Congratulations." It was so, so special.
HAMMER: And it was so interesting. As the day was wearing on, before the Grammy Awards took place, word had gotten out that something like this was going to happen. I couldn`t have imagined it was going to be so profound and so emotional.
We just saw a little clip of a moment that I want to actually bring up in full here. Queen Latifah pronounces you all married couples. And then here comes Madonna.
Roll that one, Charles.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
QUEEN LATIFAH: I now pronounce you married!
MADONNA, POP SINGER (singing): Open your heart to me, baby. I hold the lock and you hold the key. Open your heart to me, darling. I`ll give you love, and you...
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Guys, sorry, I have to say, I don`t want to be cliche here. But come on, Madonna performing at your wedding? Is that every gay man`s dream? I mean, really.
MILLER: Madonna was our wedding singer.
CHARLIE: And you know, what`s funny is I make this joke, because ever since I was a kid, I was like, "Someday, Madonna is going to sing at my wedding." I`m like, I better make a lot of money to pay for this. And so when we found out it was happening, I was like, "Shut up." And I told everyone there, I said you guys owe me a big thank you, because I manifested this since I was 8.
HAMMER: There you go. It was all your doing.
And I`m sure you couldn`t have imagine she would come out with a cane. Fortunately, it was just for show. Nothing was actually wrong with her.
MILLER: Oh, good.
HAMMER: You saw the Twitter reaction. Neil Patrick Harris, this is what he wrote out there, "My face hurts from smiling. The was one of the coolest thing I`ve ever gotten to see. Much, much love. Well done, Grammys."
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson: "That was one of the coolest things I`ve ever seen on TV."
Even the current "Bachelor," Juan Pablo Galavis, who got some grief about some anti-gay comments recently, tweeted, perhaps with the aid of a publicist, "That`s what life is all about," with a #respect.
How did it all come together? How did you guys even wind up there?
MILLER: So it all started off, we have a good friend who works in casting, who was responsible for our particular number. He reached out to us, knowing that we were planning to get married later this year, which we still are, and asked if we wanted to accelerate it a bit and get married on the Grammys. So we were just honored to be a part of it and thought, obviously it would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that we could not say no to.
HAMMER: Yes. It`s amazing. You are two of 66 people who are going to be able to say for the rest of their lives they were married at the Grammys by Queen Latifah with Madonna performing and Macklemore, and the list goes on.
Congratulations, guys. I`m thrilled for you.
To make it clear to anybody who doesn`t understand this, the wedding is official. I know you`re doing your big ceremony later this year. But, Yawar and Jason, thank you both again so much.
MILLER: Thank you.
CHARLIE: Thank you, A.J. Thank you for having us.
HAMMER: You got it.
Still so many obsessions today, thanks to the Internet just blowing up during the Grammys and after that. It keeps going. That takes us to No. 9 on our countdown.
Pharrell`s big hat. Yes, Pharrell won four Grammys. But what still has everybody talking is that hat.
Radio host Ralphie Aversa was in Hollywood for the Grammys. In Atlanta, the lovely Syleena Johnson is with us. She`s one of TV`s "R& Divas." Great to have you both here.
Look at this. "SVU`s" Ice T tweeted this picture of Spongebob Squarepants with Pharrell. That is fantastic.
Others said Pharrell borrowing the hat from Smokey the Bear. There it is. It`s pretty close.
"Elle" magazine has a true copycat of Pharrell`s look right there.
No, Syleena, I should tell everybody, this is actually a little homage that Pharrell was paying to an old-school hip-hop artist. But come on, the hat is pretty genius, right?
SYLEENA JOHNSON, "R&B DIVAS": Well, it`s very "I`m going to go hunting after the show." It`s a very interesting hat. But, OK. You know, people are creative. You have to let them be themselves. But it`s Arby`s. It reminds me of Arby`s sandwiches.
HAMMER: Yes, well, they did tweet something out. And I love that he tweeted back to them that, "What, are you looking to start a roast beef with me?"
Ralphie, you were right there on the red carpet. I knew the moment I saw him walking down the carpet with that hat, it was something that we`d all be talking about and chatting about online, which we`ve been doing. I actually thought he just needed a big place to stash his Grammy award. What was the buzz on the carpet?
RALPHIE AVERSA, RADIO HOST: Exactly, that`s exactly what he needed. Because it was such a big night for Pharrell. Of course, Daft Punk took home four Grammys. And Pharrell plays a part in all of those, including the big one, album and record of the year.
Plus, it was a great performance with Pharrell and Nile Rogers, Stevie Wonder, Daft Punk. How amazing was that?
So it was a big night for Pharrell. He had a lot of camera time. And that hat got a lot of camera time, as well. Along with its own Twitter account, from what I hear. It probably has more followers than me at this point.
HAMMER: Tens of thousands of followers for that Twitter account. Get on it.
Now Taylor Swift, on the other hand, didn`t need to stash any Grammys, because she didn`t win any. But she`s still, of course, being talked about. You`ve seen all these gifs of her hair whipping back and forth like she`s doing there in this performance.
Syleena, that was a made-for-the-Internet moment.
JOHNSON: Yes, it was -- It says, "I`m trying to get endorsements." That`s what the hair swinging was about. That`s what we do when we`re trying to get endorsements. Pantene commercials.
HAMMER: All right. I didn`t see any (UNINTELLIGIBLE). Actually looked pretty good there.
Let me get to the other gif of Taylor. This is when she lost Album of the Year to Daft Punk. She thought for a split second -- look at this -- }Oh, I won. Oh, I didn`t win." Yes.
And there`s a reason for that. Both the Daft Punk album and her album begin with the letter "R." So you know, there`s all that anticipation, Ralphie. R -- r, you can see somebody jumping out of their seat, right?
AVERSA: Yes. You had "Random Access Memories," which won, as opposed to "Red." And as you had mentioned, Taylor going home empty-handed, although we were talking about her dancing in the front row and that hair flip throughout the performance, and by the way, I thought was pretty good throughout the evening. So she definitely wanted one, one Grammy to take hope. She didn`t get it. But she`s still on a great album cycle with "Red."
HAMMER: Yes, and I kept remarking, as I was watching it, how terrific and poised and great she sounded. I thought she looked terrific and sounded great.
People are still going crazy over what was literally the most explosive performance of the night. Let`s take a little look at Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons here.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
(MUSIC)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: OK. I`m going to leave you with this tweet from "Criminal Minds" star Shamar Moore. He tweeted, "Best performance of the Grammy Awards, period."
Let`s put up the picture, too, Charles. This is from the movie "The Incredibles." The caption: "My mom and me while watching Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons Grammy performance."
So much to talk about. All right. Syleena, Ralphie, you`re going to need to stay right where you are, because I want to talk to you both about a big music star who was not at the Grammys. What is going on with Justin Bieber? We`ll get to the bottom of it in just a moment.
Justin, a no-show at the Grammys but everybody still buzzing about his antics.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JUSTIN BIEBER, POP STAR: I met Usher randomly in a parking lot. And then a week later, I met Justin Timberlake. And they kind of both saw me; they saw my talents. And they were like, "Wow, I want to sign this kid."
And I was like, "Really? You want to sign me?"
(END VIDEO CLIP)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yes, those were certainly the days. Justin Bieber before the drama. What led to his bad boy transformation? Coming up, a special report, "Justin`s Wild Ride."
Plus, real trouble for a "Real Housewife," her husband facing federal fraud charges, in prison.
What will be No. 1 on our countdown? This is SBT on HLN.
Now SBT at the Grammys. As I mentioned, Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons collaborated for one of the best performances of Sunday night`s big show. And we`ve got more of that to see.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
(MUSIC: "RADIOACTIVE")
(END VIDEO CLIP)
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Welcome back to SBT. I`m A.J. Hammer.
And now, No. 8 on our countdown, Bieber`s beach escape. Justin Bieber headed to Panama right after a wild week in Miami Beach that led to Justin`s arrest on DUI charges. Bieber and his entourage boarded a private jet, of course, for a flight to Panama City. It was right after Bieber`s court appearance.
While Justin hits the beach, a prosecutor in Los Angeles is still considering whether or not to file felony vandalism charges against Justin for allegedly egging his neighbor`s house. A decision on that case is expected this week.
A young star who had a brush with the Biebs when the Biebs was first becoming famous is No. 7 on our countdown and revealing all to us about surviving teen stardom.
Singer and actress Mandy Rain was 12 years old when Nick Cannon discovered her. She starred in his made-for-TV movie "School Girls." That was back in 2010. And it also featured a then relatively unknown Justin Bieber.
Mandy is joining me now from Hollywood. She has a great new single out called "Riot." It`s available on iTunes. Great to have you here, Mandy.
MANDY RAIN, SINGER/ACTRESS: Glad to be here. Thank you for having me.
HAMMER: Absolutely. So, you got an early start, too. You signed on with Nick Cannon when you were just 12 years old. I have to imagine at 12 that has to have put you in some kind of a dream-like fantasy state. Was it just crazy?
RAIN: Yes, of course, I mean, being thrown into the industry that young is always crazy. No matter how much or little fame you have, it`s -- it`s always very interesting.
HAMMER: And you stuck with it. You had a lot of success. And then you did the made-for-TV movie, "School Girls." Looking at photos right there. Hey, there`s you and Justin Bieber. Got introduced to this guy Justin, who was making a cameo. You probably thought, there`s a cute kid. There you are with him.
Do you remember, the first time you met him, what you thought about him at the time or what that meeting was like?
RAIN: Yes, I do. The first time I actually didn`t meet him. He asked my mom if he could go into my trailer and shoot a YouTube video on YouTube. And he`s just, like, singing and, like, having fun. And it was adorable.
When I finally met him, he gave me a hug and was like, "Hi, so nice to meet you. And you know, and I just saw you filming. You`re so pretty." Stuff like that, you know. He`s such a sweet, considerate boy. And, you know, I adore him. He`s so sweet.
HAMMER: I`m looking at that picture of the two of you. I think maybe he had a little crush on you. You think?
RAIN: Maybe. I`m not sure. Maybe.
HAMMER: You`re a lovely couple of there in the black and white. The movie, by the way...
RAIN: Both with the short hair.
HAMMER: The movie is set in an-all girls` high school. There`s a bully. And the girls get their revenge, I believe, is how the whole plot goes. Justin does make a cameo as part of the school`s talent show. Let`s take a look at that.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
(MUSIC)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Justin Bieber is so super cute.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Extra! Extra! Get your summer calendar!
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: I`m sorry; I love after-school specials. I`m watching that, and it just makes me smile. When you look back at it, I mean, the innocence of it all. And now you see what`s going on with Justin. How does it strike you, because you must have a different perspective on it than all of us?
RAIN: Yes, I mean, of course, growing up in the industry, it`s really hard for anyone. I mean, you saw it happen with Britney. Things go on with Ke$ha, and you know, all these rising stars. It`s hard when you`re thrown into the industry that young; you make that much money that young; you have that much power that young. And you have people around you constantly saying, "Yes, yes, more. Oh, yes, OK." You know, pushing it to the limit.
It`s hard to not, you know, make mistakes. Because, as young adults, we`re making mistakes anyways. But he`s got the whole world watching him make these mistakes.
HAMMER: Well, it seems look you`re doing all right. And I encourage you keep keeping it together, Mandy. It`s great having you here. Congratulations on "Riot." Thank you so much for joining us.
RAIN: Thank you.
HAMMER: All right. As we move on, they were the big winners at the Grammys, but nobody ever saw their faces. Still to come, you`ve got to see this. It`s Daft Punk, unmasked. We uncover the mystery behind the winners of the album and record of the year.
And this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
ANGELINA JOLIE, ACTRESS: Well, well.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Yes, Angelina goes to the dark side. We have your first look at Angelina Jolie as the iconic Disney villain, "Maleficent." So bad that she`s good.
What will be No. 1? This is SBT on HLN.
Right now, SBT at the Grammys. Paul McCartney made a lot of people`s dreams come true with a Beatles reunion of sorts. McCartney performed with former band mate Ringo Starr, reminding everybody why the Beatles will always be legendary.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
(MUSIC)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: And now No. 6, it is your "SBT First Look" at Angelina Jolie as "Maleficent." Angelina is haunting as the stunningly beautiful woman with black wings who lives in a peaceful forest until an army of humans threatens to break that peace. Betrayal ultimately turns Maleficent`s pure heart into stone, and an epic battle begins. So here now, your "SBT First Look" at Maleficent.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JOLIE: Well, well.
(singing): I know you. I walked with you once upon a time. I know you. That look in your eyes was so familiar. I know it true that visions are seldom all they seem. But if I know you I know what you do. You`ll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream.
(speaking): There is evil in this world. Hatred. And revenge.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: (UNINTELLIGIBLE) Angelina.
Coming up a major shakeup for a "Real Housewife." One reality TV star is now facing federal fraud charges. But could his "Real Housewife" be forced to visit him in a real prison? That`s still ahead.
Plus this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BIEBER: I met Usher randomly in a parking lot. And then a week later, I met Justin Timberlake. And they kind of both saw me; they saw my talents. And they were like, "Wow, I want to sign this kid."
And I was like, "Really? You want to sign me?"
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: It`s crazy, right? It`s a Bieber flashback. How did Justin go from boy-next-door to his first mug shot? Coming up, a special report on "Bieber`s Wild Ride."
What`s going to be No. 1? This is SBT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Time now for the "Top Ten Countdown." A "Real Housewives" star is charged with identity theft and bank fraud. It`s a multimillion-dollar hustle with fake bank accounts, fake businesses. But now he`s facing very real federal charges.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BIEBER: I met, actually, Usher randomly in a parking lot. And then a week later, I met Justin Timberlake. And they kind of both saw me; they saw my talents. And they were like, "Wow, I want to sign this kid."
And I was like, "Really? You want to sign me?"
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Bieber`s back story. Before Justin`s bad boy phase, he was a boy wonder who mesmerized everyone who heard him sing. Well, "SBT" is going back in time to check out how Bieber fever all started. Which star shocker is going to top our countdown. "SBT" starts right now.
Welcome back. Thank you for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer. So, we are down to number five on our countdown of today`s top ten must-see, must-share stories. The amazing Bieber back story revealed. Wow. Think about it. What a long strange trip it has been for Justin Bieber, from fresh face, YouTube star to pimply face star of a mug shot seen around the word. Following his arrest in Miami Beach on charges of DUI and resisting arrest. So, how did he get from there to here? CNN "New Day" entertainment correspondent, Nischelle Turner reveals all in a special report "Justin Bieber`s Wild Ride."
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
NISCHELLE TURNER, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Justin Bieber was a musically talented tween. A Canadian kid with no musical training. When at the age of 12, he wowed in a local talent show.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And I`ve always been so sad
TURNER: His mom posted his performance on YouTube for relatives to see.
BIEBER (singing): I hear your voice
TURNER: But friends weren`t the only ones watching.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He pretty much became the first YouTube sensation.
TURNER: Justin Bieber was singing cover tunes like Alicia Keyes "Fallen."
And his viral videos caught the attention of manager Scooter Braun who vowed to make him a pop sensation. Bieber`s good luck was about to get even better. Braun introduced him to two of music`s biggest stars.
BIEBER: I met, actually, Usher randomly in a parking lot going into a studio.
USHER, SINGER: When I saw him online. I understood his talent. I wanted to meet him in person. I needed to just understand truly who he was and what he offered as a star. Did he have star quality? So when I saw him, in that instant. He performed for me in person. He sang a song. He actually challenged me to sing with him.
TURNER: Usher was sold. And he wasn`t the only one.
BIEBER: And then a week later, I met Justin Timberlake, and they kind of both saw me. They saw my talents. And they were like, wow, I want to sign this kid. And I was like really, you want to sign me?
TURNER: Shirley Halperin is the Hollywood reporter`s music editor.
SHIRLEY HALPERIN, MUSIC EDITOR, "THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER": It became a little bit of a bidding war even before he recorded his first note.
TURNER: Usher won. And took Bieber straight to music executive L.A. Reid where he sang one time.
(on camera): What was that audition with L.A. Reid like then?
HALPERIN: Justin came into the conference room and danced on the table and sang on the table. You know, just really blew away the label staff. He was an unknown entity. But I think L.A. Reid being very sharp and perceptive when it comes to new talent, just saw that spark. And, you know, signed him really quickly.
TURNER (voice over): Usher became his mentor. And introduced his protege to the world in this YouTube video.
USHER: Recording artist, Justin Bieber`s hit ready to go down.
TURNER: Carlos Greer writes for "People" magazine.
CARLOS GREER, STAFF WRITER, PEOPLE MAGAZINE: Justin was pretty much groomed by Usher. He was groomed by the best. He watched a Justin Bieber performance. You see Usher in Justin Bieber.
BIEBER (singing): Thought that you`d always be mine.
TURNER: Bieber would break record months just months after the release of his first album.
BIEBER (singing): Baby, baby ...
TURNER: In 2010 his song "Baby" became the most watched YouTube video ever.
BIEBER (singing): Thought you`d always be mine.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: When Justin released his first single "One Time he immediately became a superstar. He had fans running after him. He had to increase his security. And so, he immediately just had this wildlife.
TURNER: Bieber was stealing the spotlight from Taylor Swift at Madison Square garden.
BIEBER (singing): There`ll be one less lonely girl.
TURNER: Appearing on Dick Clark`s New Year`s Eve show. And performing for the president. But to America, Bieber was cool. His haircut was copied by kids across the country. And his presence would send girls screaming.
(on camera): Biebermania went crazy.
HALPERIN: Biebermania exploded. The girls went crazy. Everywhere he went he was mobbed. Malls, mobbed.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He literally was like the Michael Jackson of his time. Fans literally were falling all over him.
TURNER (voice over): Bieber loved it.
BIEBER: What 15-year-old wouldn`t want screaming girls waiting for him all the time?
TURNER (on camera): I don`t know. Do you have a girlfriend?
BIEBER: Right now, no, I am single.
TURNER (voice over): But by the end of 2010 that was no longer true. Pop princess Selena Gomez had captured his heart.
(on camera): It was like puppy love at its finest.
HALPERIN: Yeah. And, you know, she would show up at his concerts. And he would show up on stage with her. It was very sweet.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Selena was sort of like Justin`s backbone. They were inseparable. They were the teenage pop couple of their time. Initially when they started dating. His fans hated her. But then they grew to actually love them as a couple.
TURNER (voice over): And the love for Bieber kept growing. Just one year after releasing his first record, he had more than 1 billion YouTube views. More than 15 million likes on Facebook and four American music awards.
HALPERIN: It was so insane. That huge ascent. And social media just helped propel it further and faster.
TURNER: That same year, Bieber made his big screen debut in a concert documentary chronicling his life.
BIEBER (singing): Love me, love me, say that you love me.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Hands on your head. Get down on your knees.
TURNER: And ironically, starred as a bad boy in a string of "CSI" episodes. But just weeks after his character was killed off the show. One of the first signs of a boy behaving badly. Bieber flicks his middle finger to the paparazzi.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
HAMMER: So, I realize it is very easy to pick on Justin Bieber. But there is no denying that there was really something there that Usher obviously saw all those years ago, really talented kid. Syleena Johnson, cast member of "R & B Divas" is with us from Atlanta, radio host Ralphie Aversa is in Hollywood. And Syleena, let me start with you. I mean it`s pretty amazing to look back at that video. And hear him talking all those years ago. It`s also amazing how much has changed for Bieber over such a short period of time?
SYLEENA JOHNSON, CAST MEMBER, "R&B DIVAS": Yeah, you know, just watching the film. Well -- watching his life. Like in short. It`s just, it`s really kind of sad. You know, you don`t want to blame the parents. But, you know, where are the parents in this instance? And he is gone through a lot. In such a short time. So, you can`t really blame him. Because he is growing up, you know, under the scrutiny of all of us. So he is doing the best he can. You know. He is not doing that bad. I mean.
HAMMER: No. But it is ...
JOHNSON: He is still cute.
HAMMER: It`s amazing how many times we have seen this before. And how this story wrote itself long before all these latest bits of drama happened.
JOHNSON: Yes. Absolutely.
HAMMER: You just heard the numbers. A year after releasing his first song, he had more than a billion hits on YouTube. More than 15 million likes on Facebook. You know, Ralphie, in his latest movie he tried to sort of address some of the issues going on with him and how he is perceived. I`m actually thinking now a Q & A session on YouTube where he started his career, is what he may need to do to let people what`s really going on with him.
RALPHIE AVERSA, RADIO HOST: He needs a lot more than that, A.J.
JOHNSON: Yes.
AVERSA: Now, it`s funny you bring up that last movie, which was a complete flop at the theaters giving the success of "Never Say Never." It didn`t cost a lot to make, but still it did not do well at the box office by any stretch of the imagination. And I think the reason is, is because his parents that have the disposable income don`t want to bring their kids to see Justin Bieber. They don`t want to take these kids exposed to this guy anymore, because of all of the reports about the alleged drug use, and now the DUI and the bad behavior, whether it`s flipping off paparazzi or trying to attack a photographer. I mean you never know what the kid is going to do.
HAMMER: No, but I still will say this continuously. I still don`t believe all is lost for him as long as he has the right people around him.
JOHNSON: Yeah.
HAMMER: Hopefully, they are stepping in. Syleena, Ralphie.
AVERSA: Agreed.
HAMMER: Thank you both. And stay right there. Because going from Bieber`s drama to a reality TV star in trouble with the Feds again is what we are up to. I`m talking about a multimillion dollar scam that actually could get the husband of a real housewife locked up for a really long time. Plus, will the real daft punk stand up.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And the Grammy goes to Daft Punk.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: It took way more than getting lucky for the duo to strike Grammy Gold. But who are these masked men? "SBT" on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I suppose -- the robots would lo like to thank, you know, honestly. I bet France is really proud of these guys right now.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And here it is.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: The mystery surrounding, the helmet-clad electronic music duo Daft Punk now revealed. Daft Punk took home four Grammys including Album of the Year. But really, who are those masked men? The answer to that question is number four on our top ten countdown. As we reveal the men behind the masks. Daft Punk didn`t take off their helmets. Not even once during the Grammys. They never said a word. So, who are they? Well, let`s find out with radio host Ralphie Aversa who was in Hollywood for the Grammy Awards. Watching them parade around with those helmets on. The question, everybody is wondering, Ralphie, today is what do they look like under those helmets.
AVERSA: Well, if you go on the Googly and you put Daft Punk in there, you get some old pictures. Not a whole lot of them around. The real names are Guy Manuel de Homem -Christo and Thomas Bangalter. Each is married with children. Thomas and his wife, French actress have two children. Guy Manuel is better known as Guyman. He`s got one kid. And they both always lived in Paris. Or, they are worth together a reported $60 million. But Ralphie, why do you think they`re going with the helmets? Is it stick? Is it part of some - I don`t know, alien conspiracy? What`s happening?
(LAUGHTER)
AVERSA: Of course, it`s a conspiracy. Because everything is now. In all seriousness. They want to mesh the characteristics of humans with machines. And that`s why they go with the helmets and claim to be robots. And really, since 2001, they have never appeared in public without those helmets. Now, I probably shouldn`t be telling you this. But I did catch their rehearsal at the Staples Center. Before Sunday Night`s award show. And they did rehearse without the masks. I couldn`t believe it either.
HAMMER: You didn`t take a picture, Ralphie?
AVERSA: They would have confiscated my phone, A.J. It wouldn`t have been worth the risk.
When they hit it big in the `90s, they did "Rolling Stone" about this whole helmet thing. We`re interested in the line between fiction and reality. Creating these fictional personas that exist in real life. Syleena. I actually don`t think they were even at the Grammy Awards. I think they wandered away to just stay at home. In France, sitting on the couch, eating their fries. They don`t call them French fries over there. And they just enjoy the show. What do you think?
JOHNSON: Well, I think you might be right, A.J. However, for a minute there. I thought it was going to be Tupac and Michael Jackson. And we were going to find out the truth at the Grammy Awards. But, you know, in today`s society, they, you know it is cool to be creative. And so, you have to let artists just kind of be creative and do their thing. I mean they won four Grammys. So, hey, they can`t be too crazy.
HAMMER: And by the way, I give them a lot of credit for not being all about getting the attention. Because obviously, they have a great deal of anonymity. Which means they`re really about their art and their craft. And good for them on that. This brings us to number three on our countdown. The most buzzed about Grammy moments from Gifs and tweets to Instagram. It was moments like this, Taylor Swift performing her mega hit called "All too well" that got everybody talking.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
TAYLOR SWIFT (singing)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Well, of course, the Internet lit up after that performance. And they tell her, Gif was yet again born. Syleena, do it for me. I want to see. I want to see you put it on. Do the head - we`ll turn it into Gif we have to. Come on. Go for it.
JOHNSON: Oh, no honey. No.
HAMMER: You weren`t too hard on that.
(LAUGHTER)
JOHNSON: No, no. I`m going to tell you.
(LAUGHTER)
JOHNSON: But I mean she is cute. You know, it`s part of the performance. I thought it was a slight exorcism. But, you know, it`s part of the performance. I like Taylor Swift. She`s an amazing writer. And an amazing performer. And I think she is going into a great artist. So, you know she just had a slight exorcism right. You know, she is back.
AVERSA: Oh, come on.
HAMMER: She did, she did a great job. And, quite frankly. She caught us all by surprise. It was a wonderful moment. I love Jay Z`s acceptance speech after Holy Grail won for best rap song collaboration. He told his daughter through the television, Blue Ivy, look, daddy got you a gold sippy cup. Ahead of music fan that I saw who tweeted photo of Jay Z pouring a drink into his Grammy award, adding the caption, "Gold Sippy Cup." Ralphie, I mean come on, that - what a great accessory. Her birthday was just a couple of weeks ago. Perfect.
AVERSA: Exactly, Blue Ivy. Just when you think that this baby has it all, then she gets one other thing, Jay-Z and Beyonce just going above and beyond, and by the way, this is the second straight year that Jay-Z has cracked up that audience at the Grammys. Who can forget last year, he was on that stage, accepting an award and he made fun of the dream, who`s the producer, of his hat, saying that he got it at the swat meet. Which was hilarious.
(LAUGHTER)
HAMMER: Good to say Jay-Z, having fun at winner awards last night. All right, Syleena, Ralphie stay where you are. All right, if some of the greatest moments of the Grammys didn`t tap our countdown, what did? Well, I can tell you that countdown is about to get real. This is "SBT" on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Getting Gangsta with Meryl Streep on Instagram, that is number two on our must see, must share countdown. Now, check out 50 Cents along with Meryl Streep after they kicked it courtside at the Knicks Lakers game. Oh yeah, and the Lakers` guard Kobe Bryant got in on the fun too. 50 captioned one of the pictures, "Best fall, Kobe." That`s rapidy (ph). The best actress. That pretty much sums that up. And it brings us to big reveal, number one on our countdown, some real trouble for "Real Housewives of Atlanta" husband. Apollo Nida who is married to Phaedra Parks is now facing some serious charges, bank fraud and identity theft. Police say that he flat out stole the identities and personal information from his victims and used it to rack up millions of dollars. Radio host Ralphie Aversa is with us from Hollywood, along with reality star Syleena Johnson who joins us from Atlanta. Syleena, of course, is a cast member on TV-1`s "R & B Divas". I spoke with Nida right here on "SBT" about life after his first prison stint. Watch what he told me about that.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
APPOLO NIDA, CHARGED WITH BANK FRAUD AND IDENTITY THEFT: It may change me, it gave me a sense of awareness, more so a sense of respect for other people. I was really aloof person, I really didn`t have many cares, I didn`t have a family. So now, being home and not necessarily the TV show, just a foundation that has been created with us joining together. We have two children, one is on the way. And it gives me a sense of there is something to look back and look forward to. And at the end of the day I have to be responsible, I have to be accountable for everything that I do.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: Well, he is going to be taking to it into account for everything that is going on right now. Syleena, you know what life is like as a reality TV star, you know the pressures that apply. Do you think possibly he did this to keep up appearances on TV in order to look like he could afford to lead such a lavish life-style, we have certainly seen it before.
JOHNSON: Well, I can understand, you know, where that might come into play. But I`m sorry, I can`t give him any credit or any passes. I can`t believe he is this stupid. If you went to jail once for doing this, that is very stupid to do it again and having a platform where you can use it to do legitimate things and increase your money in other ways. And besides, you don`t really need to keep up with the Jones for television, because a lot of that stuff is not real anyway.
HAMMER: Yes.
JOHNSON: So, this is just absolutely ridiculous and just stupidity.
HAMMER: Ralphie, you have to wonder what is going on. I mean he is on camera all the time. You know, he is going to be found out, people are paying extra close attention when you`re on TV.
AVERSA: Absolutely, A.J. You know, it`s funny, I`m here in L.A., for our Grammy broadcast. And I was talking with my friends from Hot Chelle Rae, and they said, you know, to be a touring musician you have to be a little crazy. And I think the same could be said for these reality stars. I think if you`re going to allow these cameras to expose your life the way that they can and the way that they do you have to be a little crazy. But A.J., what we`re finding out is, some of these people are not just a little crazy, they are a lot of crazy.
HAMMER: Yeah, well, fortunately, your co-guest right there, Syleena, not crazy. Thank you, Syleena. We appreciate that. Maybe a little. Maybe a little.
(CROSSTALK)
HAMMER: What joining the housewives ...
JOHNSON: Sometimes.
HAMMER: Reality show it was just after his first prison stint. And I remember wondering when I spoke with him, and we talked a little bit about it. If it was a big mistake for him to even do a reality show. It seemed like a strange decision, but he was into it.
JOHNSON: I`m still kind of devastated. I can`t believe that he`s done this. I mean you do have a beautiful family, you have two beautiful children, you have a wife who is a lawyer, like do you really need to do this? I just - I don`t think the reality TV puts that much pressure on you. I live it. It is very stressful. But you do have the right to control, what is seen, what you want to, you know, who you want to be portrayed as. It is not putting a gun to your head. It`s not making you act like a fool. It is ridiculous.
HAMMER: From you Syleena, Ralphie. Thank you both so much. All right, our moment of awesomeness is from the Grammy Awards. And it is the best Madonna moment that you might have missed. We`ve got it. Believe me, you will thank us. This is SBT on HLN.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HAMMER: Tonight, "SBT Moment of Awesomeness" is cute and all kinds of crazy, it is Madonna and child. Madonna rocking the red carpet with really one of the best accessories of the night. It was her eight-old son, David. David also seems to be the only person on earth who is able to upstage the one and only Madonna, and that is why this is the most awesome thing we`ve seen in a while. Check out this interview that Madonna did along with David and Ryan Seacrest on E!
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
MADONNA: We`re both working the Ralph Lauren Angle.
RYAN SEACREST: Did you pick this out?
DAVID: Yes, I did.
SEACREST: And did she follow your lead when it comes to fashion?
DAVID: Yes, very well.
MADONNA: For this look I followed his lead. He dressed me tonight.
SEACREST: He did?
MADONNA: Yeah, he wanted me to dress like him, so I obeyed him.
SEACREST: Are you grilling?
MADONNA: Yeah, I`m grilling.
SEACREST: Is that ...
MADONNA: So that`s where I wear it.
SEACREST: How often do you wear your grill?
MADONNA: When it matches my outfit.
SEACREST: Are you grilling?
MADONNA: I don`t have to eat it, like ....
SEACREST: No grill.
MADONNA: Actually, I have learned to eat with my grill in. So.
(LAUGHTER)
DAVID: She said she would get me a grill this birthday.
MADONNA: I know, but we haven`t had time, you have to go to the dentist to get a mold.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HAMMER: What a poised and mature young man. Thank you for watching. I`m A.J. Hammer. And catch "SBT" Monday through Thursday, at 11 p.m. eastern. HLN continues right now.
