DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: We told you we expected President Bush to speak. He is prompt indeed. Let's listen in.

(JOINED IN PROGRESS)

GEORGE W. BUSH, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: We're setting a different tone so when the good folks of this country look at our nation's Capitol, they see something they can be proud of. I want to thank you very much for your service to the country.

I want to thank your families for the sacrifice they make. I also want to thank you for the constructive spirit in which we've conducted the people's business. I know this; that whatever your views on a particular issue are, that we share a common goal, and that's to serve our country.

And it's OK sometimes to share a meal and that's why we're here.

So I want to thank you for being here. If you will join me in the East Room, I think we've got some pretty good food for you.

Thanks for your service. God bless.

(APPLAUSE)

KAGAN: A few comments there from President Bush. Once again, this is a luncheon honoring his first 100 days in office. The president invited all 535 members of Congress to come on over for lunch. There were some scheduling conflicts, though. As you can tell, there's not that many people there, but still the luncheon goes on after comments from President Bush.
