COLLEEN MCEDWARDS, CNN ANCHOR: We want to take you live to Moscow, where a news conference is underway with the new and old leaders of the International Olympic Committee. Let's take a quick listen in right now.

(JOINED IN PROGRESS)

JACQUES ROGGE, IOC PRESIDENT: ... a meeting of the executive board in Lucerne mid-September. The exact dates are not finalized, but please make that free. And there will also be an executive board mid-December. The exact dates will be formed later on.

I will, of course, attend the many world championships that are going to be organized in the next month to represent the IOC with their partners of the international federations, and I will, of course, attend important meetings of the Olympic committees.

This concludes my address, Mr. President. Thank you.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Thank you.

We have another Olympic order to present.

MCEDWARDS: New IOC president Jacques Rogge making his first news conference, as he was named just early this morning, while you were sleeping, probably. He was elected in the second round of a secret ballot vote. Juan Antonio Samaranch, as you saw right there, is stepping down after more than 20 years at the helm of the IOC. So that transfer is complete.

The new head of the IOC is 59-years old, a Belgian orthopedic surgeon, and a former Olympic yachting competitor as well.
