LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Take you to California -- Modesto, California -- where Chandra Levy's father, Dr. Levy, is now beginning to speak to the press.

(JOINED IN PROGRESS)

DR. ROBERT LEVY, FATHER OF CHANDRA LEVY: Yes, it does. You know, it's upsetting. They find things. You don't know. And you just worry -- you know, anticipate what they are going to find.

QUESTION: Can you describe your feelings and Mrs. Levy's feelings when you see psychics that come on television and they say they know the fate of your daughter?

LEVY: Well, you know, that's upsetting, too, you know. But a lot of it is not -- it's not really accurate enough to give much credence because anyone can guess something bad has happened.

We hope that's not true. But it's not really psychic to say that or -- you know -- you need real specific information.

QUESTION: Have there been developments in the last day or two that -- any signs of encouragement that you've heard from people back East?

LEVY: No. They're just working on things. And we just hope they will find her and keep up the investigation.

QUESTION: Is it true that the psychics did call you first as a courtesy before going on these television shows?

LEVY: Yes. Yes.

QUESTION: Is that -- that was obviously (OFF-MIKE)

LEVY: Yes.

QUESTION: Did you ask them to call? Or did they do this unsolicited?

LEVY: No, it was sort of a: We're in touch, not specifically with her, but just asking for help -- whatever they can do.

But we really need specific -- you know, real specific information.

QUESTION: How has Modesto been toward your family this week, this month?

LEVY: Oh, they've been really kind and supportive. And we're grateful for the community here.

QUESTION: When you drive down the street, we see yellow ribbons in almost every mailbox. How does that make you and your family feel?

LEVY: Well, we feel good about that, that they are supporting us. We just hope we can have a happy outcome. I don't know if that's possible. But we hope.

QUESTION: It seems like a very tight (OFF-MIKE) neighborhood.

LEVY: Yes.

QUESTION: This is an old-fashioned neighborhood, in many ways. People are family here for you.

LEVY: Yes. They are really helpful. They've been supportive. So we appreciate it.

QUESTION: Would you like to see the police move forward in trying to get another polygraph test for Congressman Condit?

LEVY: Well, they need to do what they are able to do -- just have to keep working at it.

QUESTION: Were you surprised or maybe disappointed that he didn't go to the Washington police or the FBI and do it there?

LEVY: Well, I can't really get into that. It's just -- it's just -- you know, what can I say?

QUESTION: Just one quickly. I know you have been going to work and all. But how do you keep -- how do you keep busy during a time like this?

LEVY: Well, mind patients and staff, if you concentrate on that. But all my patients, they're supportive. But it's always something on my mind about my daughter and my family.

QUESTION: (OFF-MIKE)

LEVY: It's tough -- the last few days real hard, with all this going on.

QUESTION: I understand that you guys, you were pretty upset yesterday.

LEVY: Yes.

QUESTION: Is there anything specific that you'd like to tell us about yesterday? LEVY: No. Just good reasons, she's upset, just like we always are, unless we ever have good news, which we've haven't had yet.

QUESTION: How does she try to spend her time?

LEVY: Well, with her friends and doing things -- her activities she used to do -- and volunteer work. And it's just real hard.

QUESTION: Been any writing or anything (OFF-MIKE)

LEVY: Not recently, no.

Thank you. Thank you.

HARRIS: And with that, we heard the latest comments this morning from Dr. Levy, who basically didn't have any real news to break this morning, although he was asked about how he felt about seeing psychics showing up in the media, predicting that they -- or announcing that they knew where Chandra was.

And he said, of course, with unconfirmable information like that and inconsistent information, he says there was no reason for him to get worked up about that at all.

So we will continue to follow this story. And, of course, any comments that may come from Modesto, we will have them for you right here.
