Nursing Home Fire

BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Authorities in Hartford, Connecticut questioning a suspect in connection with a deadly fire at a nursing home. The fire broke out last night at the Greenwood Health Care Center, killing at least 10, more than 20 others injured. At this time, there is a live press conference under way in Hartford.
The fire chief and the mayor now talking.
Here is the fire chief, Charles Teal.
(JOINED IN PROGRESS)
CHARLES TEAL (ph): ... smoke inhalation, because she refused to leave the area until she knew the critical patients were being properly cared for and that we could evacuate the area without doing them harm. I greatly want to extend my appreciation for her efforts and hope she's doing well in the hospital. For more information on the investigation, I'd like for the fire marshal, Bill Abbott, to come forward.
BILL ABBOTT (ph): Right now, the city of Hartford's fire investigation unit is investigating the fire. The unit is made up of member of the fire department's fire marshal's office and detectives from the police department's municipal major crimes unit. We're also working in conjunction with the state's attorney's office and state fire marshal's office.
So right now, it's too preliminary to give you a cause. We are looking in that southeast area wing of the convalescent home. The investigation is ongoing. And as soon as we have more information to release to you, we will certainly do so. Thank you.
HEMMER: And again, just to update you on what we're learning from Hartford, 10 dead, 20 others injured, a suspect now being questioned.
We are told that many inside that home had difficulty getting to safety, many bed ridden and also in wheelchairs as well. More on that developing story out of Hartford throughout the morning here.
