ANDERSON COOPER, CNN ANCHOR: If there's one thing that elevates a good actor to the realm of stardom it's a good name. Say it with me why don't you, Antonio Banderas. Sounds good, doesn't it?
Banderas wasn't a huge star when he made "Desperado," with writer/director Robert Rodriguez, but he is now as the two reunite for "Once Upon A Time In Mexico." It opens in two weeks. One of the many big movies coming out this fall. Some of the other movies let's talk about them, both big and small with "People" magazine movie critic Leah Rosen.

LEAH ROSEN, "PEOPLE" MAGAZINE MOVIE CRITIC: Thank you, Anderson.

COOPER: Thanks for being with us.

ROSEN: You're welcome.

COOPER: There are some big movies coming out this fall with some big stars.

ROSEN: Yes, there are a bunch. They're going to be coming to theaters soon.

COOPER: "The Human Stain" I've heard about.

ROSEN: "The Human Stain" stars Oscar winners Nicole Kidman and Anthony Hopkins with Ed Harris, who some day will win an Oscar. It's based on a Phillip Roth novel and it's directed by Robert Benton who did "Twilight Places In The Heart."

It's sort of a murder mystery thriller. He's a professor. She's a young woman he begins an affair with and discovers she has a revenge seeking husband. And there's a lot of buzz about this.

COOPER: Looks compelling.

ROSEN: Given Nicole Kidman is coming off an Oscar. People want to see what she's going to do next.

COOPER: I've seen a lot of posters already in theater "For Master and Commander" which I thought wait dominatrix kind of thing but it turns out it's not.

ROSEN: No, no, no, no, no. This is based on the best selling series of novels about the Robert O'Brian about the British Navy in the early 1800's

COOPER: I've read one of those.

ROSEN: You may have even read one. Yes, Captain Jack Mathewson (ph). Every guy who reads these series loves them. A lot of men I know are looking forward to this. You're going to see ships. You're going to see naval battles. You're going to see early 19th century medical techniques.

COOPER: Now, I've got to say, I'm a little wary because it's hard to pull off one of these movies. Sailing movies with big pirate shapes, in general, are kind of a risky proposition.

ROSEN: Yes, but the star of it, Russell Crowe, was last in "Gladiator". And no one thought you could go back to swords and sandal pictures. And you're looking at an Oscor. So, there's a lot of heat on this film.

COOPER: The other one "Intolerable Cruelty."

ROSEN: I'm really looking forward to "Intolerable Cruelty." This is the Coen brothers writing and directing back with George Clooney.

And it's George Clooney, Katherine Zeta-Jones. He a divorce lawyer, She is the wife of one of his clients and he ends up falling for her. and when you see the trailer you go that looks like a smart, comedy.

COOPER: A movie a lot of people are talking about "Kill Bill." It's actually going to be too movies. It's Quentin Tarantino's new movie.

ROSEN: Yes, this is Quentin Tarantino's first movie since "Jackie Brown" in 1997. Of course, before that did "Pulp Fiction." He has gone to China. He spent months filming a movie about a female assassin, played by Uma Thurman. It's apparently very, very bloody. Quentinino (sic) has gone on at length about finding just the right kind of fake blood.

COOPER: Oh, it's so difficult these days. Very briefly, we're almost out of time. I just want to run through "The Cooler" starring William H. Macy. This is a smaller budget film. It was playing in Sundance, got huge notices.

ROSEN: This is a feel good movie. Bill Macy plays a guy, he works at a casino. He spreads bad look luck, that's his job. Somebody's winning, he walks by the table and they lose their luck. He falls in love. He turns lucky

COOPER: We have a clip from it. Let's show the clip.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WILLIAM H. MACY, ACTOR: Know what I do at the Shangri La?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You're a cooler. You turn winners into losers. MACY: People get next to me their luck turns.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This is one of your coolers.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He's the best.

MACY: Better luck next time.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

COOPER: It looks interesting.

ROSEN: It's an interesting film and it's a good one. It's beautifully shot.

COOPER: Two other low budget films, "Lost In Translation" and "The Station Age" and people should watch out for. They're coming out also later on this fall.

ROSEN: Both terrific films.

COOPER: Thanks very much.
