JASON WHITELY, KHOU REPORTER (voice-over): Last weeks floods all but erased Zonobia Lawhorn's life. After waiting a week, this 18- year-old mother finally got what she needed most from the Red Cross.
ZONOBIA LAWHORN, FLOOD VICTIM: Oh, yeah, I have to be patient -- I have to be very thankful about, you know, this here, because...
WHITELY: This single piece of paper hold the help that she prayed for -- it's a voucher worth $325 -- it's as good as cash -- to buy what she needs at Wal-Mart. Right now she says her main concern is her 2-month-old daughter, Serenity (ph), who's out of clothes, out of food and out of baby supplies -- all victims of the flood.
LAWHORN: Without the Red Cross, you know, I would have to go through this by myself -- me and God. You know, thank God for Red Cross to help us.
WHITELY: Zonobia Lawhorn got her voucher from one of the six Red Cross service centers that's open all around Houston. Volunteers there are slowly helping victims recover.
JOYCE FOSTER, RED CROSS VOLUNTEER: We finished 60 cases yesterday and we're going to try to go to 200 today. We're working as fast as we can.
WHITELY: Red Cross volunteers say they'll likely give out tens of thousands of dollars in vouchers this weekend all to victims like Zonobia Lawhorn. And for someone who says she lost everything, this young mother says the assistance is really worth the wait.
