KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: For the second day in a row, U.S. warplanes bombed eastern Afghanistan, and once again, there are unconfirmed reports of civilian casualties.
CNN's Brent Sadler is live in the Afghan city of Jalalabad. Hi Brent.
BRENT SADLER, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Thanks Kyra, yes, continuing reports from outlying village areas close to a well known mountain zone called Tora Bora. This you may have heard of over the past few days. A high priority U.S. target for suspected al Qaeda or Taliban leadership hideout in that remote mountainous zone called Tora Bora. Now, what you are about to see is some pretty graphic, and I'm afraid disturbing pictures.
These exclusive scenes taken from the Agan (ph) district, which is within about a two to five hours walk from where those al Qaeda activists may be hiding out. Now, what we are seeing here are pictures of villagers in this remote location. Primitive homes made of mud and bricks destroyed. Villagers searching for the remains of victims, two days after, they said, U.S. warplanes bombed this area. Also, around this area, a second strike within the past 24 hours, they say, again by U.S. warplanes.
This time that killed and injured, according to Mujahadin authorities here in Jalalabad -- killed some of the leaders who'd gone to that zone to try to negotiate a surrender by the al Qaeda activists thought to be in those mountains. Now, there are dozens of reported dead amongst those village communities over the past 48 hours and many injured. People have been brought to hospital here in Jalalabad. Now thus far, the U.S. central command has denied that their weapons have indeed inflicted these causalities in these residential areas. Back to you -- Kyra.
PHILLIPS: All right. CNN's Brent Sadler live in Jalalabad, thank you.
