JEANNE MESERVE, CNN ANCHOR: Police in Cincinnati are on a manhunt -- well, actually, in the interest of accuracy, it is a cow hunt.
MILES O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: The bovine made a run for it while being taken to the slaughterhouse. Wouldn't you?
MESERVE: Exactly. It's a smart animal.
O'BRIEN: That's a smart cow. As Tiffany Ganz, from our CNN affiliate WXIX reports, the crafty cow has managed to stay one hoof ahead of the hook.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We've been chasing him all afternoon, basically. We've looked for him with heat sensitive devices in the woods. We just haven't been able to locate him.
TIFFANY GANZ, WXIX REPORTER (voice-over): While police hover high above, another team tracks movement on the ground.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: These are good tracks here.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The hair was snagged on the vine.
GANZ: An all agency alert in hot pursuit of a heffer (ph).
HAROLD DATES, S.P.C.A. GENERAL MANAGER: We were down in the woods with tranquilizer guns trying to sedate the cow, but it was not spotted.
GANZ: Not spotted, but beige cow sightings all over the city.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: There's a cow runnin' a loose.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: C-O-W?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: A cow, a beige cow. I'm not joking.
GANZ: The cow escaped from Ken Meyer (ph) Meats in Camp Washington. A slaughterhouse, getting ready to make minced meat out of her.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: She was kind of jumpy and mean.
GANZ: Not enough height to jump over the moon, but she did hop a six-foot fence and (UNINTELLIGIBLE) it out this open door.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Everybody was a on a break. We didn't know what happened until everybody started yelling and screaming. The cow was done gone then.
GANZ: Where's the beef?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: 1042, it looks like he's gone up in the woods in the back of the White Castle."
GANZ: That can't be good.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: It was quite a surprise to the people waiting at the bus stop.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: They were heading for higher ground.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The cow came down Central Parkway, crossed the street against the light and went up into the woods.
GANZ: This cow was really on the move.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The cow's pretty good. Maybe he's had some training in evasive (ph) tactics or something.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He may be a ninja cow.
GANZ: A holy cow, maybe. A cow with quite a following.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I think that for all her efforts she should be rewarded and she should be allowed to go back out to pasture and live out the rest of her days in peace.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
MESERVE: An APB for a C-O-W, I guess. And, by the way, that was Tiffany Ganz of CNN affiliate WXIX in Cincinnati.
O'BRIEN: I agree with her. That cow should not become a quarter pounder, definitely not.
MESERVE: With or without cheese?
O'BRIEN: Or the special sauce.
