KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Well, probably as much as seeing stars, Academy Awards viewers like to see who's wearing what.
MILES O'BRIEN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: You know, this is a hard assignment for me.
PHILLIPS: Look, you and I agreed we were going to do this together.
O'BRIEN: Yes. So we are doing it together and I'm going to be a good sport. Lauren Rockwell is a big shot at "Redbook" magazine. This is "Redbook" here.
PHILLIPS: That's not her on the cover, although she is as pretty...
O'BRIEN: That wouldn't be her...
PHILLIPS: ... as who is on the cover.
O'BRIEN: I think that's Celine Dion there. But, jeez, Lauren, in my mind you could rate a cover. And, you know, we find it interesting, Lauren is wearing typical "Redbook" fashion. That's what they wear around the office.
PHILLIPS: Yes, this was her bonus, we understand, for the last story that she wrote.
O'BRIEN: And, no, Lauren was not in an automobile accident. That is, those are diamonds around her neck. Tell us a little bit about that.
LAUREN ROCKWELL, "REDBOOK" MAGAZINE: These beautiful diamonds are from Fortunoff's. This is an $85,000 necklace...
O'BRIEN: Wooh, wow.
ROCKWELL: ... that they have given to me, well, not really. They've lent to me. And this is what I think we can expect to see at the Oscars tonight, big, beautiful pieces like this.
O'BRIEN: They sort of stuck their neck out giving you that one I would say.
ROCKWELL: Yes.
PHILLIPS: Oh, boy.
O'BRIEN: Big beautiful.
PHILLIPS: Let's talk about the dresses, what do you say?
ROCKWELL: OK.
PHILLIPS: You want to move into the tresses?
ROCKWELL: I'll show you some dresses.
PHILLIPS: OK.
ROCKWELL: OK. A huge spring trend is flowers and chiffon and ruffles and I think that we can expect to see a lot of color at the Oscars. I think that this is a beautiful dress from Oscar de la Renta. It's from Saks Fifth Avenue and it's sheer and floaty and really beautiful.
O'BRIEN: You know, it's so sheer you can see the price tag underneath it. Seriously. So it makes me wonder what else you might be able to see underneath that when a woman is wearing it.
PHILLIPS: Who was it that, who did the see -- Jennifer Lopez. She did the see through dress last year, right?
ROCKWELL: Yes, she did.
O'BRIEN: With the price tag?
PHILLIPS: Not with the price tag.
O'BRIEN: Oh, yes.
PHILLIPS: There were some other pricey things underneath that dress, let me tell you.
O'BRIEN: Lauren...
ROCKWELL: So this is...
O'BRIEN: That's beautiful.
ROCKWELL: I'm sorry.
O'BRIEN: But, you know, when you hear these prices, these stars don't pay for these things, right?
ROCKWELL: No. Actually, they don't. Celebrities get to, they're the luckiest of all because they really don't have to pay for anything and they've got all the money to pay for it and they don't normally have to pay anything. They borrow and things are made for them and that's the great thing about being a celebrity.
PHILLIPS: What a way to go.
ROCKWELL: This is a beautiful dress from Ungero.
PHILLIPS: Oh, boy.
O'BRIEN: Wow.
ROCKWELL: Also, a big trend is beading and flowers, again, and sheer. And there's talk that Halle Berry may be wearing a beautiful dress by an unknown designer which was, apparently it's encrusted in diamonds, hand sewn, a $5 million dress. We're not sure.
PHILLIPS: Oh, my gosh.
O'BRIEN: Wait, say that again. Five...
ROCKWELL: Apparently $5 million.
O'BRIEN: Extra large.
PHILLIPS: OK, who buys dresses like that, though, seriously? If the stars get them for free...
O'BRIEN: I mean really. Think about it.
PHILLIPS: ... who calls up and says I want that dress?
O'BRIEN: Nobody does. Nobody does. But, you know, Halle Berry could wear a burlap sack and look good. Why does she need a $5 million dress, you know?
ROCKWELL: Well, she's special and also she'll be definitely, you know, this unknown designer is going to...
O'BRIEN: The unknown designer...
ROCKWELL: ... be a household name now, so.
O'BRIEN: Wow.
PHILLIPS: Oh, I can't wait.
ROCKWELL: Yes. Very, very (UNINTELLIGIBLE).
PHILLIPS: I'll be sitting on the edge. Hey, Lauren, what about shoes?
ROCKWELL: Oh, shoes. OK.
PHILLIPS: Yes, show us some shoes.
ROCKWELL: I have some great shoes to show you.
O'BRIEN: (UNINTELLIGIBLE).
ROCKWELL: OK, Stuart Whitesman (ph) produced a line of shoes for the Oscar nominees, exclusive to the Oscar nominees. And this is a prototype of a real amazing shoe that we should be seeing. It's the million dollar shoe.
O'BRIEN: No.
ROCKWELL: Yes.
PHILLIPS: A million dollars!
O'BRIEN: Get out of town, Lauren.
ROCKWELL: Someone's going to be wearing...
O'BRIEN: A million dollars!
PHILLIPS: The producer is gasping behind us.
O'BRIEN: A million dollars!
ROCKWELL: A million dollars.
O'BRIEN: Imelda Marcos, are you listening?
ROCKWELL: I know.
O'BRIEN: There's a million dollar shoe out there for you.
ROCKWELL: We don't know who's going to be wearing it.
O'BRIEN: Oh, my god, if the price tag fits, huh?
ROCKWELL: I feel like it's a Jennifer Lopez thing. I don't know. I'm guessing.
PHILLIPS: Wow.
ROCKWELL: And these shoes are made just for the Oscar nominees and then they will be available in stores in...
O'BRIEN: Oh, I'm sure those will be going quickly.
PHILLIPS: Yes.
ROCKWELL: ... in about a month.
O'BRIEN: Now, do they levitate and allow you to float a few inches above the ground for a million bucks?
ROCKWELL: Aren't they amazing?
O'BRIEN: I mean...
ROCKWELL: Amazing.
PHILLIPS: They don't crack.
ROCKWELL: I don't know if the million dollar shoe will be available, but something like this will be.
PHILLIPS: All right, anything else before we let you go? Another little highlight there?
ROCKWELL: That's pretty much it.
PHILLIPS: Is that about it?
ROCKWELL: I've got some beautiful jewelry that, you know, again, I've got this beautiful Fortunoff necklace. And then there's amazing costume pieces, too, which, this is great. This is from a company called Not Anonymous and it looks [pretty authentic and beautiful. And this is a huge trend for spring. I think there's a lot of vintage, you'll be seeing a lot of vintage pieces and, you know, that's probably what's...
PHILLIPS: Well, Betsy Johnson stuff?
ROCKWELL: Yes, Betsy Johnson.
PHILLIPS: She's vintage, right?
ROCKWELL: She's very much inspired...
O'BRIEN: I have no idea what you're talking about.
ROCKWELL: ... by vintage and...
O'BRIEN: Betsy Johnson?
ROCKWELL: Betsy Johnson.
PHILLIPS: Uh-oh. All right, I'm going to...
O'BRIEN: I'm getting in trouble now.
PHILLIPS: I'm going to school (UNINTELLIGIBLE). OK, here we go. At least I know a little bit about this stuff.

PHILLIPS: Such a classy young lady. You look beautiful in that necklace.
O'BRIEN: You look great.

O'BRIEN: I've decided I want to work at "Redbook" magazine. My resume is in the mail. Thank you very much, Lauren.
ROCKWELL: All right, we'll see you there.
O'BRIEN: All right.
ROCKWELL: Thanks very much.
O'BRIEN: You know, if you buy it, I've got to tell you...
PHILLIPS: Thank you.
O'BRIEN: If you buy shoes for a million bucks, you're a heel.
PHILLIPS: Hey, it -- oh, here we go with the corny jokes.
O'BRIEN: I just had to do it.
PHILLIPS: I think you should show up wearing your new shoes that you got.
O'BRIEN: I'm not showing my shoes on the air.
PHILLIPS: Your wife, his wife finally got him some new shoes, folks.
O'BRIEN: They were $69.95. That's all I can say.
