Car Bomb in Bogota Kills 11, Injures 70

KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Now to a car bomb in Colombia that has killed at least 11 people and injured dozens more. It happened early this morning in a busy entertainment district in a village just southeast of Bogota. We get the latest from journalist Karl Penhaul, who is on the phone from Bogota. Karl, what can you tell us?

KARL PENHAUL,CNN CORRESPONDENT: The official toll, as you say, so far stands at 11 dead and more than 70 injured. The deaths haven't yet been identified and the numbers are likely to rise as investigators sought through what one police official said a tangle of body parts.

Three of the injured are police officers, but authorities say all the other casualties are civilians, and they're describing this as a want an act of terrorism. And the attack took place in Villavicencio, which is actually a regional capital about 40 miles southeast of Bogota and about 350,000 inhabitants there, as you say, the bomb was detonated in a busy entertainment district shortly after 1:00 a.m. local time, which is about the time that many of the -- many civilians would have been going home after an evening's entertainment.

It was, in fact, not one blast, but two blasts ...
