MILES O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: Two deaths reported now from severe storms in Missouri and Kentucky. The National Weather Services reported a raft of funnel clouds in southwestern Missouri most of the night. Joining us live now from Bollinger County is John Gadson of our CNN affiliate, KTVI. John, what is the latest there?

JOHN GADSON, KTVI REPORTER: Miles, I'm at the command center here in Bollinger County, Missouri about two miles from where the tornado struck. What a scent of destruction, we have some pictures to show you. Let's take a look right now.

About 30 homes were leveled, including a trailer park completely blown away. About two dozen people were injured, they're being cared for right now at local hospitals. And of course, as we've been reporting all morning, there was a fatality. That fatality was a 12- year-old boy. I'm told his home was by a nearby lake. He was reportedly sucked out of his bed by the twister and deposited in that lake.

For a time, his family and search teams could not find him. Finally, a sheriff's deputy spotted him, he was floating in the lake. He told a family member -- this is the sheriff's deputy talking -- that it was one of the worst sights he had ever witnessed. That tornado came through Bollinger County about 12:30. Some people I spoke to today said they had no warning that the twister was coming, they were in their beds sleeping, and all of a sudden it came in like a freight train -- Miles.

O'BRIEN: John, is everybody is accounted for there?

GADSON: Right now, everybody's accounted for. Right now, again, in Bollinger County, one fatality, and that's 12-year-old boy.

O'BRIEN: John Gadson, of our affiliate, KTVI, thank you very much.
