FREDRICKA WHITFIELD, CNN ANCHOR: The eyes of Texas are on a tropical depression that is still dumping heavy rain on parts of the state. More than a day after it came ashore. Then Tropical Storm Fay made landfall yesterday along the Central Texas coast, flooding streets and homes as it made its way inland. And forecasters are calling for more heavy rain today around San Antonio, the hill country and South Central Texas. We get a closer look now at some of the storm's effects from Jeff Crilley with our affiliate KDFW.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

DAVID WALKER, RESIDENT: I can't even get to my house. I've been standing out here for quite some time trying to catch somebody in.

JEFF CRILLEY, KDFW CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): David Walker found himself needing a boat, not a car to get home.

WALKER: I saw two people coming in a boat but they went the other way. We have people driving by, you know, but I guess the right someone just hasn't come along yet. I need to get in to change some clothes and take a shower.

WILLIAM GLADNY (ph), RESIDENT: I've never seen it this high here before.

CRILLEY: And William Gladny (ph) had bigger problems.

GLADNY (ph): My God!

CRILLEY: The family convenience store, Mike's Drive-In, looked more like a dive-in.

GLADNY (ph): It looks about probably a foot and a half, two foot.

CRILLEY: Everything, even the gas pumps were submerged.

GLADNY (ph): It was just all a lake today.

CRILLEY: For others, it wasn't the water but the wind that did the damage.

GREG THITH (ph), RESIDENT: The living room and kitchen and...

CRILLEY: For Greg Thith (ph), the storm got in the way of his weekend getaway because now there's hardly anything left. THITH (ph): All at once, it was like one scoop. It's disturbing to think because you were here just last week, you know, barbecuing and kids running around and so forth and Mother Nature rolls in and, you know, does her thing. Man!

DEANNA FOX (ph), RESIDENT: Picking up our mini blinds because we lost our window.

CRILLEY: That's why his neighbor Deanna Fox (ph) feels lucky. She only lost a window and it scattered her blinds across her lake of a lawn. But when she thinks about what happened to her neighbor...

THITH (ph): Not good.

CRILLEY: ... she's not about to complain.

FOX: That's pretty bad that they lost the whole thing.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

WHITFIELD: That report from Jeff Crilley with our affiliate KDFW and that downgraded Fay still could potentially do more damage there further inland.
