ANDERSON COOPER, CNN ANCHOR: Top members of the Bush administration will hit the Sunday's gab shows today to promote the new U.N. proposal, which gives Iraq a deadline to disarm. While in Iraq, Baghdad destroys more of those banned Al Samoud missiles. For that, we go to CNN's Rym Brahimi. She is there. Good morning, Rym, what's the latest?
RYM BRAHIMI, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning to you, Anderson. Indeed, Iraq continuing the destruction of the Al Samoud 2 missiles. A team of U.N. weapons experts are at the site known as Al-Haji (ph), where that destruction had been going on since March the 1st, until yesterday. Forty Al Samoud missiles where destroyed. That's about one third of what Iraq has in terms of missiles and what it has said it's putting together as well.
Now, the destruction also includes, as you know, tools used to make those missile, even, or to make the missile engines as well.
Inspection activity also ongoing in and around Baghdad. At least eight sites being checked today by U.N. weapons inspectors. An UNMOVIC spokesman says that the U.N. experts are also waiting for Iraq to come up with a report in which it will discuss what it destroyed in terms of VX and anthrax. That report due to come out next week.
Now, as you know, Anderson, the president has said that the report presented by the chief U.N. weapons inspector to the U.N. Security Council shows Iraq has cooperated. He is calling on the council to lift sanctions, and here in Baghdad, a newspaper ran by the ruling Ba'ath Party, "Al Sarra (ph)," "Revolution," is calling the U.S. administration a gang, a fascist gang, saying that that fascist gang should look at the changes in the world and calling on the people of the world to confront the U.S. administration to avert an attack against Iraq -- Anderson.
COOPER: Interesting. Rym Brahimi live in Baghdad, thank you very much this morning.
