Investigators Continue Gathering Clues in Peterson Murder Case

ANDERSON COOPER, CNN ANCHOR: Scott Peterson is now in a maximum security cell in California, being held in the death of his wife and baby. But investigators continue to gather evidence in San Francisco Bay, where the body of Laci Peterson and her son, Connor, were found.
CNN's Mike Brooks joins us live from Modesto, California, with the latest on the case -- Mike.

MIKE BROOKS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Anderson.

Scott Peterson is being held here at the Stanislaus County Jail, awaiting arraignment on either Monday or Tuesday on two counts of murder, that being the murder, the alleged murder of his wife, Stacy (sic), and their unborn child. They were found in San Francisco Bay last week.

Scott was arrested in San Diego at about 11:10 a.m. on Friday by Modesto police and was driven back here to Modesto by the detectives and booked in here yesterday morning at about 12:09 a.m.

Now yesterday I went by the Peterson home on Covina Avenue, just a short distance from here, and over the weekend, some people have been coming by, putting teddy bears, candles, flowers and notes to Laci and her family and yesterday it had grown. It was just all across the front of the house and many people coming by, all hours of the day and night, to express their sympathy for the deaths of Laci and her unborn child -- Anderson.
