KELLI ARENA, CNN ANCHOR: Turning now to Iraq, two American troops were wounded and an Iraqi civilian was killed on an attack on a U.S. military convoy today. CNN's Nic Robertson joins us from Baghdad with details on the latest in a series of attacks.
Nic, what's the latest?

NIC ROBERTSON, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Kelli, that incident happened earlier this morning. That took place on the main route linking the center of Baghdad to the airport. That's a highway that is used extensively by U.S. troops as a highway where troops and civilian vehicles have been targeted in the past.

Now what we're being told here is that an explosive device went off as the vehicle was going along the road. One civilian was killed, we are told. Not clear how that civilian died. Two U.S. soldiers, military policemen, were injured. We don't know the extent of their injuries at this time.

Now, that incident comes barely 12 hours after an overnight incident in Baghdad where a couple of grenades were thrown at a U.S. military howitzer that was positioned by Iraq's national museum. Now, it's not clear if those grenades were thrown directly at the howitzer. They certainly missed if that was the target and they impacted some small stores that were located close by. The perpetrators of that particular incident drove off at speed in their red Volkswagen vehicle.

That particular incident perhaps more typical of the many incidents that are happening around Iraq to U.S. soldiers, many incidents that aren't getting reported because they're incidents such as gunshots being fired at patrols, explosive devices going off. But in this these particular incidents that aren't getting reported, there are no casualties; that's why they're not being reported. So it is the incidents that we're seeing are quite widespread.

And, of course, the incident this morning one of those where the perpetrators of the attack appeared to have hit their target, injuring those two U.S. military policemen. Kelli?

ARENA: Nic Robertson, live from Baghdad. Thanks for joining us, Nic.
