SEAN CALLEBS, CNN ANCHOR: There are long walkways and fabulous fashions, but it is not a fashion show. It is the Emmys. And as CNN's Alisha Stanford reports, looking good is almost an award in itself.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

KEVIN HALL, DESIGNER: Walk there and then come back to me. I want to just get one look.

ALISHA STANFORD, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Designer Kevin Hall is busy getting the Emmy girls ready for Sunday's broadcast.

HALL: Amazing, this is great.

STANFORD: The couturier is dressing the trophy presenters as well as several celebrities for TV's big night.

HALL: This will be my choice for the Emmys this year. Phenomenal.

STANFORD: Actresses such as Diane Lane and Christine Lahti have shown off their curves in Hall's form fitting gowns. This year, he has an eye for color.

HALL: On the red carpet, you can never go wrong with red. You've got claret red, you've got bright red, you've got Chinese red. I'm also loving hombres (ph) done in multi colors, such as this gown. This cocoa color, I think, is also very beautiful.

I love this color on all skin types. The reason that I love this dress so much is because of the simplicity.

STANFORD (on camera): Choosing the right dress sets the tone for the whole evening. The next step, choosing jewelry to go with it.

(voice-over): When Madonna needed some serious bling-bling for her Hollywood video, she borrowed tens of thousands of dollars worth of diamonds from celebrity jeweler Neil Lane.

For this year's Emmy red carpet, he's been making a lot of bejeweled initials inspired by the iconic Ms. M.

NEIL LANE, JEWELER: I've been commissions from everyone around the country, around the world, to make them for the Emmys. But I don't know if I can get them ready for them. STANFORD: Emmy nominees Deborah Messing and Kim Catrall are crying out for Iring Neuwirth's (ph) teardrop chandelier earrings. Her organic chic jewelry mixes semi precious stones with emeralds and diamonds, and focuses on making the imperfect beautiful.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: And all the celebrities who have actually chosen my jewelry to wear, they like it because of the organic shapes.

STANFORD: After all, glamour is organic to Hollywood.

Alisha Stanford, CNN, Los Angeles.
