SUZANNE MALVEAUX, CNN ANCHOR: Now to game one of the World Series. The Florida Marlins rolled center fielder Juan Pierre to an early lead over the Yankees. Pierre added a two-run single to put the fish ahead for good. Final score, Marlins win 3-2.
Josie Burke has more from Yankee Stadium.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

JOSIE BURKE, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): The Yankees and Marlins played to type in game one. Each team followed a trend it already established this post-season. The Marlins came out unafraid. The Yankees came out with a loss.

BRAD PENNY, PITCHER, FLORIDA MARLINS: We were fired up. Everybody was ready. We wanted to win. Everybody has been talking about it, let's go out and kick their butts. You know it's going to be hard, but we give it our best.

JEFF CONINE, OUTFIELDER, FLORIDA MARLINS: This team doesn't seem to be affected by pressure or crowds or situations. I mean, you're not getting many more hostile crowds than Chicago and New York. So the way we responded to that, and not gotten nervous, and kept our heads about us, and played our game is our strength so far.

AARON BOONE, 3RD BASEMAN, NEW YORK YANKEES: It's kind of been their M.O., they don't -- they are unphased. They come to play. And have that ability to pick themselves up when they're down.

DEREK JETER, SHORTSTOP, YANKEES: We like digging ourselves in a hole, I guess. But it's a seven-game series for a reason. You come out tomorrow.

ANDY PETTITTE, PITCHER, NEW YORK YANKEES: We lost the first one all the way through, so maybe it's a good omen.

BURKE: Andy Pettitte will try to continue New York's script in game two. Even though the Yankees have lost every game one that they have played this postseason, with Pettitte on the mound, they've been able to rebound in game two.

Josie Burke, CNN, New York.
