ANDREA KOPPEL, CNN ANCHOR: French fans of pop star Michael Jackson are taking to the streets in support of their idol. Hundreds marched in Paris Saturday chanting and carrying posters. The singer is facing multiple counts of child molestation in California. He says he is innocent. And plenty of his fans here in the U.S. believe him.
Here's what Mary Blair of our Los Vegas affiliate KVVU found out.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
MARY BLEIER, REPORTER, KVVU: Blaring his new CD, "Michael Jackson Number One," Las Vegas fans lined the street in front of CMX Entertainment Studios. Jackson's worldwide fan club put together candlelight vigils across the globe.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I have absolute faith in Michael Jackson. I have no doubt he is innocent, and I -- the biggest thing is it's just unfortunate that he has to go through it all again.
BLEIER: Wearing T-shirts and holding signs proclaiming Jackson's innocence over child molestation charges, supporters voice their opinion.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I believe he is innocent, 100 percent, because he has a special love for children, and he sees the innocence in the children.
BLEIER: Even young Jackson fans joined in the rally.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I think that Michael Jackson is an innocent man because he will never do anything to hurt any child.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: He won't do anything to hurt a kid because he has children of his own.
BLEIER: But while most of these supporters have never met the king of pop, one young woman says he has.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Michael took me and my brother shopping two weeks ago, and we've been fans all our lives, and we've been to the ranch many, many times.
BLEIER: And when it comes to children, she says the singer is misunderstood.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: People are greedy and take people for granted and it's all about money. (END VIDEOTAPE)
KOPPEL: That story coming to us from Mary Bleier of KVVU, Las Vegas.
