KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: A lot of folks will be heading to the movies this Memorial Day weekend, and for many "Pearl Harbor" will be the film to see.

Anna Hovind has a preview.

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: December 7, 1941, a date which will live in infamy, the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by the Empire of Japan...

ANNA HOVIND, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): "Pearl Harbor" tells the story of the fateful Sunday morning that changed America.

UNIDENTIFIED ACTOR: We are at war.

HOVIND: Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett star as two boyhood friends who become pilots for the U.S. Air Corps.

BEN AFFLECK, ACTOR: Well Dolittle assigned me; he wanted me to get some real -- real combat training in.

JOSH HARTNETT, ACTOR: Well, guess what? It's not training over there, it's war. When losers die and there aren't any winners, just guys who turn into broken-down wrecks like my father.

HOVIND: On December 7, a sleeping giant was awakened. Many became heroes that day.

AFFLECK: We got to split them up, Danny. You take left, I'll take right.

HOVIND: From the ashes of defeat rose a wave of patriotism.

ALEC BALDWIN, ACTOR: The mission I'm asking you to volunteer for is exceptionally dangerous. Take a look at the man beside you. It's a good bet that in the next six weeks you or he will be dead. Everyone brave enough to accept this, step forward.
