Suspected al Qaeda Fighters Arrested in Remote Pakistani Region

LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Authorities in a remote region of Pakistan, meantime, near the Afghan border, have arrested hundreds of people in the past two weeks suspected of being al Qaeda fighters.
Our Kamal Hyder is at the scene on the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

KAMAL HYDER, CNN CORRESPONDENT: All day today choppers of the Pakistan Army circled over Parachinar City. We do not know at this time whether they were dropping men or taking material supplies to their men that they have dropped, over 12,000 feet.
The tribals also meeting today with the political agent and showing their unflinching support and the political agent saying that it is surprising that at least 83 of the suspected al Qaeda members were apprehended by the tribals here and then handed over to the political authorities, most tribes here, whether Shi'a or Sunni, and they have been present in the past in violence against each other, are now united in this campaign to help the government to apprehend any suspected terrorists or would be terrorists trying to infiltrate into Pakistan.
