KRIS OSBORN: Well, if you can't decide what to buy the health enthusiasts on your Christmas list, you might really like this. Health correspondent Kat Carney, she's here with a few gift ideas that can be bought online.
Some of them are a bargain, Kat. What a delightful combination, gift giving and health.
KAT CARNEY, CNN HEALTH CORRESPONDENT: That's right, giving the gift of health.
OSBORN: That's right.
CARNEY: So are you going shopping this weekend?
OSBORN: I'm thinking about it, absolutely.
CARNEY: Well, we got some ideas for you here. You know, a lot of times in the office you have that Secret Santa, you don't know what to give people? Well, this is a handy gift. This is a desktop water dispenser, and it's available at discovery.com. You can make sure you get your eight glasses of water a day. And look, you can just have it sitting...
OSBORN: Oh, wow.
CARNEY: ... right on your desk. Use the little spigot there. It does not come with the CNN glass. But this is just really handy. And it's very light, very portable. And I've got one sitting right next to my computer. And I did realize that I was drinking more throughout the day.
OSBORN: Wow. So you're using it a lot. It looks like -- it would look really good in the news room, that's what I'm thinking.
CARNEY: Very, very handy. Again, this is available at discovery.com, and it's $20.
OSBORN: Only $20 for that?
CARNEY: Going shopping this weekend? Only $20.
OSBORN: Wow.
CARNEY: So that's good, nice inexpensive gift.
Now for women who walk to work, you see a lot of people going to and from work, and they wear sneakers.
OSBORN: Yes.
CARNEY: Well, these aren't just ordinary sneakers, these have a little something extra. I'm going to turn them around. They have weights on the back.
OSBORN: Excellent.
CARNEY: How cool is that? So you get a -- you can burn some extra calories, you build some muscles. And this weight actually comes off too, so if you need to go somewhere and you want to take the weights off, weight off, you know, you can have just regular shoes. But you -- they start out at one pound, you can buy extra weights to go on them. These are $159. I'm going to turn the other one around. And these are available...
OSBORN: Wow.
CARNEY: ... at heavyair.com.
OSBORN: That's not even that much more than your cutting-edge pair of sneakers. And you can even put heavier weights on, so the hard-core runners can load it up.
CARNEY: Right, exactly. So you can -- again, they started at one, you can go a little bit heavier. And it's funny you mentioned hard-core runners. I don't know if you guys know this, Kris is a hard-core runner.
OSBORN: Oh, I don't know about that.
CARNEY: So I know that he would...
OSBORN: (UNINTELLIGIBLE) get tired.
CARNEY: And (UNINTELLIGIBLE) water dispenser, shoes. So I got for -- here for you too, Kris. This is my Timex, and this is -- this watch will tell you how fast and how far you are going, because it has a GPS that goes along with it.
OSBORN: Wow.
CARNEY: So you can put this on your waist or on your arm. And again, it will tell you in real time how fast you're going, what your pace is, how far you have gone. Isn't that neat?
OSBORN: Yes, but what if you're so slow you don't want to know how fast you're going?
CARNEY: That's me.
OSBORN: (UNINTELLIGIBLE). That's -- no, that's me. That's amazing, though, GPS as well.
CARNEY: GPS, uses satellite technology, so it's very handy. You can use this whether you're biking, whether -- you know, any type of activity. And this goes for $200, and this is available at Timex.com.
OSBORN: Wow. So GPS has been out, but the price is coming down a little bit. And now we see these personal items such as right there.
CARNEY: Exactly. It's being integrated into all sorts of things. Now, I got to say, this too is very light. It might look like, you know, it has a little bit of weight. A lot of runners are concerned about that. Very, very, very lightweight. So I think this is going to be a hot item, especially for the sports enthusiasts.
OSBORN: Oh, absolutely. You know, and you can even run along, carry the weights too, weights in your hands and on your feet?
CARNEY: Well, you don't want to run with weights.
OSBORN: Probably not the safest thing in the world.
CARNEY: Exactly, exactly. But speaking of weights, we've got some here too. A lot of women are intimidated by weights. So Danskinfitness.com, a lot of women took, you know, ballet, actually a lot of men too took ballet when they were younger. So we all know Danskin for making tights. But they've now entered the fitness market. So they've created these weights that are -- I got to show this coating here, these -- it has a fingernail-friendly coating on it, so when you're changing the plates, you won't snag your nails or break your nails.
They also have this padded hand base. Let me get this down here. They have this padded hand base, it's very soft. You don't have to worry about getting calluses.
But what I think is most nifty here is the way this clip comes on and off. Very easy. There are a lot of programs out, body pump, a lot of things where you're changing the plates all throughout your workout. So this makes it easy to change your weights as you're going through. And this is available at Danskinfitness.com, and this is available for $49.
OSBORN: That is an amazing convenience to be able to change it so quickly. Because with these little dumbbell things, you always usually use a screw or something like that that makes it a lot harder.
CARNEY: Exactly, or they have, like, the clips that pinch.
OSBORN: Yes.
CARNEY: So we got it here. So we got the desktop water dispenser, $20. Heavyair shoes with weights, $149. The Timex watch with the GPS is $200. And the weights for $49. So there's my list -- Kris.
OSBORN: There it is. Well, hey, you can lift your weights and then go running with weights, know how fast you get. And you get a drink of water at the end of it.
Thank you so much, Kat Carney.
CARNEY: Thank you.
OSBORN: Excellent.
