ANDERSON COOPER, CNN ANCHOR: The 129th running of the Kentucky Derby gets under way later today with a horse named Empire Maker as the favorite, though he may actually be a long shot, since only one favorite has won the Derby in the past 20 years.
Joining us live from Churchill Downs with a preview is Kara Henderson.

Hey, good morning.

KARA HENDERSON, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hi, Anderson, how are you doing?

About 140,000 people expected here today for the Kentucky Derby, many wearing hats, many drinking mint juleps. And many are going to be placing wagers on Empire Maker, the overwhelming favorite in this race.

Now, the talk of Derby week has been the status of the colt's right front leg. But trainer Bobby Frankel says it's been overblown, that his horse is fine, 100 percent, and, quote, "Bet against him at your own risk."

All that is left is for that horse to prove him right.

Now, if you're not the kind of person who likes to bet on a favorite, then Atswhatmtalkinbout is the horse for you. This is a horse co-owned by Steven Spielberg. He's coming out with the movie "Sea Biscuit" this summer, about the legendary racehorse, and kind of got the horse racing while filming the movie. So he got together with some of his business partners, bought about a one-tenth stake in this horse for about $500,000.

And the horse will be racing today. Steven Spielberg will be here today to see his horse race. Atswhatmtalkinbout, that's 18 letters, it's not That's What I'm Talking About. And the reason is, the most letters you can have in a name in a Derby horse, 18 letters. But no horse with 18 letters in a name has ever won this race, so it will be interesting to see if he will be able to pull it out, Anderson.

COOPER: All right, Kara Henderson, thanks very much. We will be watching.
