DR. SANJAY GUPTA, CNN MEDICAL CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): Toxins weigh heavy on our body's ability to function. That's according to Dr. Richard D'Andrea, found of the 21 Day Detox Program. His program to get rid of the toxins includes 14 days without meat, dairy and sugar. And for the other seven, drinking this soupy concoction. All of that, as the program organizers claim, to purge built up toxins.
But Dr. Peter Pressman questions the premise.
DR. PETER PRESSMAN, USC INTERNAL MEDICINE: Detoxification is great, but we detoxify ourselves.
GUPTA: Before considering detox, consult with your doctor, especially if you have a chronic illness.
