HEIDI COLLINS, CNN ANCHOR: One day after a deadly high rise fire in Chicago that we told you about a little bit earlier, officials are now looking for clues that point to how that fire started and uncovering details on how it trapped its victims.
Dana Kozlov of our affiliate WBBM has the details.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

DANA KOZLOV, WBBM CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): According to the fire commissioner, some of the victims were found in the stairwells of the county building between the 16th and 22nd floors. Others were in the hallways. Some who were carried out by stretchers were conscious and breathing. But at least six were not. Those victims have all been pronounced dead. Here at Northwestern, a steady stream of ambulances arrived at the hospital. At least two of the victims worked at the Cook County attorney's office and were with Dick Devine as he made his way down the stairwell. Devine escaped unharmed, but they were overcome by smoke.

DICK DEVINE, SURVIVOR: Well, since we last talked, I've been in the hospital and visited with one of our employees who had some smoke inhalation. She's going to be fine, however, thank god. We're headed over to Rush now to see Randy Roberts, who was taken to Rush. Randy was overcome by the smoke and actually lost consciousness for a while. So he's very fortunate and thank god. Thank god he is.

COLLINS: Again, that was Dana Kozlov of affiliate WBBM reporting in Chicago.
