Funeral Services Today in Istanbul for Bombing Victims

MARTIN SAVIDGE, CNN ANCHOR: Funeral services today in Istanbul for the victims of Thursday's bombings, the latest round of terror attacks in that city of 10 million people.
Security forces are on high alert in Turkey, where CNN's Chris Burns is covering the story. He joins us now via videophone -- Chris.

CHRIS BURNS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hello, Marty.

Well, moving scenes across this city today as we followed along the funeral processions over my shoulder here. This is Martyrs Cemetery, where one of the police officers who were killed in those attacks was buried as the family was overcome with grief.

Earlier today, there was a ceremony at the police headquarters where the three police caskets were set, and the prime minister, Ressap Taib (ph) Erdogan, made a speech confirming, saying that all four suicide bombers were Turkish, all four that were in the four attacks, the two on Thursday that struck at the British consulate and the British HSBC Bank building, as well as, exactly a week ago, on Saturday there were two synagogues that were hit. He said these people are responsible for killing more than 50 people. He says it's a shame for Turkey.

Earlier today, there was another ceremony for a well-known Turkish actor who was killed in that explosion outside the HSBC Bank. There, the prime minister also made a speech and said that "These attacks won't silence our life in freedom, which we paid for dearly, and which we will pay for again," indicating that there could be more attacks up ahead.

Security has been boosted across the city and in other parts of the country.

Also today, the synagogues here in town have been closed, tighter security outside those synagogues as police brace for any further attacks.
