(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP, "COLD MOUNTAIN")
JUDE LAW, ACTOR: I want to marry you, if you'll have me.

NICOLE KIDMAN, ACTOR: I'll marry you, I'll marry you.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

SEAN CALLEBS, CNN ANCHOR: Sweeping scenes from the new movie "Cold Mountain," a soon-to-be-released movie starring Oscar winner Nicole Kidman and actor Jude Law. The movie is already earning praise. It has been nominated for, get this, eight Golden Globe awards.

Well, "Cold Mountain" is just one of many films being released this holiday season. Here with the Christmas list of what's new is E! Online columnist Anderson Jones, joining us from San Francisco.

Anderson, always a pleasure. Thanks for joining us here.

ANDERSON JONES, E! ONLINE COLUMNIST: What's, it's my pleasure to get up so early for you.

CALLEBS: Yes, I'm telling you, you got to. Well, let's kind of run through some of these movies. I want to start with "Return of the King." I mean, this is an epic. People universally heralding this as quite something.

JONES: It is, it is monstrous. And oh, how I cried at the end of this movie, because there's nothing left. There will be no movie next year.

I think the movie is extraordinary. I really sort of get this idea of fellowship. I'm into the good versus evil themes of the picture. I...

CALLEBS: And the casting is brilliant.

JONES: The casting is brilliant. And, you know, this is not really one picture, it is actually three. You know, this is actually a nine-, 10-hour kind of sweeping epic. And really, if you see only one picture, if you see only movie this year, any year, this is the one to see. It is the best picture (UNINTELLIGIBLE)...

CALLEBS: Oh, Anderson, you are dipping into cliches there. Come on, give us something more punchy.

JONES: This is the one to see, really. But there's not, there's hardly words even to describe it. I mean, it sounds cliche, but seriously, it is just beyond beyond.

CALLEBS: How about "precious"? It's precious. OK, now, "Peter Pan," why? Why are they redoing this? I mean, they did it a few years ago with Robin Williams, in sort of a twist on that. And it's not animated. It -- how is this thing going to go over?

JONES: Well, what the filmmakers will tell you is that the Robin Williams story was actually about a man who wanted to go back to being a child, rather than a child who wouldn't grow up.

The thing that (UNINTELLIGIBLE) makes this story different, or makes this version different, is, this is the first time ever Peter Pan has been played by a boy. So for the first time ever, you have a boy and you have Wendy, a girl, and that you actually can see this relationship play out. And other times you can't, because when it's a 35-year-old woman playing Peter Pan, the whole relationship with Wendy doesn't really work. So...

CALLEBS: Yes, all those rogues in Hollywood, they'll come up with all kinds of things.

JONES: Exactly. So this is a, you know, this is a very different sort of retelling. And I'd say that, well, the true difference is that the special effects. I mean, finally, when those kids sort of take off from Wendy's bedroom, they really take off. You believe that they are flying. And Neverland is beautifully recreated. And that's kind of the, that's kind of what this movie is about, the beauty of sort of like this Neverland world.

CALLEBS: And let's talk about "Cold Mountain." Loved the book, and by all accounts, this is getting great press early on.

JONES: It is, you know, really a romantic, sweeping epic. It is very, very gooey, though. I think this is certainly the type of movie that women will respond to, absolutely. I'm not sure if guys will hang in there. It's about three hours of a love story between Jude Law and Nicole Kidman.

The war stuff, which is maybe what the guys could get into, the Civil War stuff, is early, early on in the picture. And most of it is really Jude Law sort of making his way back to his -- the love of his life, Nicole Kidman.

CALLEBS: OK, and Anderson, quickly, "Gigli" -- oh, I'm sorry, that was mean. "Paycheck," what about that?

JONES: You know what? I think this could possibly erase what people felt about "Gigli," Ben Affleck, you know, was afraid that his career might have been tarnished a bit because of that whole marriage thing. But you know what? It's not. This is a solid action picture. And one of the most coherent movies John Woo has ever made. It's really, really a fun ride. CALLEBS: Yes, it's kind of like "The Bourne Identity" in a way, you know, there's a little (UNINTELLIGIBLE)...

JONES: In a way. In a way. Although he's -- it's more about the future and less about being a secret agent.

CALLEBS: OK, Anderson Jones, thanks very much for getting up and joining us. Great information. We certainly appreciate it.

JONES: Thank you.
